I don't think you can subclass in a half caster since no official material allows that.

The homebrew tools are built off of the content entry tools and as such only allow you to do what the game already supports in some capacity, just in different ways

If the game doesn't do some variation of what you're trying to do, the homebrew tools likely will not support it

This is a practical limitation of building a toolset that is, first and foremost, designed to support the official content

When you update homebrew, it may not reflect the update on the character sheet right away. You may try removing the race and adding it again.

Is the +4 your proficiency bonus? Maybe uncheck that since its a save and not a melee attack?
I'm going to step away now because I am out of ideas on what to check.

Try it in this order:

1. Set it to General Action and remove the attack range.
2. Make sure you also hit Save on the homebrew editor's main page.
3. Remove race. Refresh the page. Add the race again.
   If that doesn't work, then you may need to wait for the cached data in the sheet to update.

Using the ddb homebrew races, can someone please explain why after filling out every detail of my homebrew races racial variant and adding abilities to my homebrew racial variant when I save the ability, it doesn't work and instead I'm left with NOTHING but the racial variant? Six is the highest you can get, through the Artificer class itself.

Armorer increases the number of items you can infuse, not the number you can attune to.

You’d need to make homebrew copies of all three sources, move all the counters to a single source, and then update your character with the new versions.

And potentially redo any choices you’d made for those.

Reselect your maneuvers, for example.

If you did go that route, you could adjust the subclass or the feat to let you make an extra selection in place of the fighting style, too.

We highly recommend not publishing homebrew to the public until it’s been thoroughly vetted and play tested anyway.

I'm trying to adapt Laserllama's monk subclass and part of it is that they can perform the number of strikes to their wisdom modifier before they start consuming ki points. I wanted to see if I could add in the little check boxes to help them track this outside of their ki points. For checkboxes, you'll need to add an Action. Make sure to give it a Reset Type, then save it. Afterwards, you can scroll to the bottom of that page to find the Limited Use section.

No - any content sharing in a DnDBeyond campaign needs someone in that campaign with a master tier subscription to enable content sharing. Then the DM can toggle whether the books are actually viewable by everyone (all character options are still available, but players won't be able to read say the adventure text).

Snippet code only works in Snippet fields.

Hence the name.

You’d want to use level overrides to change the dice count, and then set it to match the level where proficiency bonus increases.

You can make a homebrew copy of aasimar if you want to peek inside and see how they set it up.

Artificer's hit dice is a d8. They don't have "one additional 1d8 hitdie" so I don't know why it says that.

Just when you level up you get one more hit dice. You always have a total number equal to your character's level.

So a level 5 artificer has 5 d8s for hit dice.

You don't roll for your passive stats. it's how much you notice, just naturally. like birds making a nest. Some people need to actually go looking for it, some will just see it.
The rules state this: A passive check is a special kind of ability check that doesn't involve any die rolls. Such a check can represent the average result for a task done repeatedly, such as searching for secret doors over and over again, or can be used when the DM wants to secretly determine whether the characters succeed at something without rolling dice, such as noticing a hidden monster.

I'm having problem exporting my character sheet as a pdf. I'm using Microsoft Edge browser and it tries to download an XML file with my username instead of the PDF. In the download bar it says "Couldn't download - NO permissions". When I copy/paste the PDF into the browser it pulls up that same (mostly blank) XML file.

I tried two different characters (both new) and they do the same thing. I tried searching for a solution online both through dndbeyond forums and browser related error posts, but nothing seems to point to a solution

Heyy, so looking at the Custom Lineage race when making a homebrew race I can't really seem to find an option for allowing tiny and large as creature sizes. Is it just defaulted to small or medium regardless? Or do I need to use the "option" feature instead of the single modifier?

Cause here it shows all sizes, but usually for Custom Lineage only Small and Medium are available. So i'm unsure where that limitation is set.

Generally speaking, those tools are built to facilitate the official rules.

Since no official player race has a choice of Tiny to Large, they probably never had reason to build that in.

I'll write about my findings on forums so others know that it is in fact possible.

The idea was simply to let players have an afflicted race, like the Latent in Red Markets; just with more race options. Now being tiny and large will have a pretty huge and potentially broken impact on the game. But having the option is still nice. ❤️

For example, if a race has the ability to cast a spell that isn't found in the free basic rules, purchasing that race won't also grant you access to that spell

I’d guess it’s being shared with you through a campaign with Content Sharing enabled.

If that’s the case, you’d only be able to add it for a character in that campaign.

But if you claim the bundle at that link, it’ll get added to your account and you’ll be able to use it anywhere.

That said, I believe there is currently an issue where Discord/DnDBeyond don't quite finish whatever is needed to complete that action to switch Discord accounts and you'll actually need to create a customer service ticket and have someone fix it from the backend.

I'm having issues with DDB and content sharing. I own most of the source books and have a Master-tier subscription that should be active for 2 more months, but I don't see an option to enable content sharing on my campaign. This used to work, but my players can no longer use my shared content.

You can only have content sharing enabled on up to 5 campaigns. Most likely you are at that limit.

If one of those campaigns is done, you should be able to disable content sharing on it and reallocate it to your other campaign.

I think if you go into Game Rules -> spells/items it should show you the content that is available to you? You can then filter it further. I know for subclasses, it adds it right to the players handbook (nests new subclasses with the other subclasses) but for things like spells and items I've always gone under the game rules tab to see what is available. If you want specifics, I think you can look at the source under the market and see a shortened list of the races/classes/items/spells that it specifically adds? It doesn't show everything that way though. Hopefully that helps/makes sense 😅

I am trying to homebrew a feat for a player and I simply want to alter an existing feat. The feat is owned by another player and shred with everyone in the campaign. I'm the DM and have the sharing privileges, so I see that it is shared within our campaign, and I can see the feat when I search. I'm still not able to reproduce that, the only things I can think of are

1. Extensions/vpns/ad blocks etc (try disabling them/using an incognito window/different browser)
2. Local network issues (try a different connection; mobile data etc)
3. Possible local node issues (it's specific to a certain region of the world)

The spells are there but I am supposed to be able to replace one of them with another spell from wizard, sorcerer, warlock spell lists when I level up, but I cannot find a way to do it in beyond.

If your browsers are doing that, that suggests a fundamental issue with your OS or browsers that's beyond any issues with DnDBeyond - that URL in your browser URL bar doesn't make any sense.

Like why is it going through a proxy?

Are you using campus wifi or VPN or something?

A normal web request shouldn't even be hitting anything localhost.

So I’m one of those that has purchased every single digital D&D sourcebook and adventure module. Been happy with it so far until this week. I suddenly have no access to the Wild Beyond the Witchlight module. Bundles do not include pre-orders and only include books released up to the date of purchase. If you purchased the bundle before September 21st, then it would not include The Wild Beyond the Witchlight

Another thing to check, if you go to the product page (https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/adventures/the-wild-beyond-the-witchlight) does it display that you already own it?

Not quite, no. A subscription isn't needed in any capacity to share homebrew within a campaign. If you're in a campaign with other people and you have homebrew in your collection, that homebrew will be shared with everyone else. Doesn't matter who's the DM or if anyone has a subscription

There's no mechanism currently because the character sheet service doesn't support the logic required for such a feature at this time. The feature is something the team wants to support, but there is no eta on that.
As a work around, you can make a homebrew copy of the subclass and then edit the spells of that copy which will have the desired effect

5 * 4 = 20

If you change to level 6, that should become 24.

Hiya, I have a twilight cleric 7/aberrant mind sorc 1 MC character. They are attuned to a +2 bloodwell vial (and a +2 Amulet of the Devout). However, the +2 from the Bloodwell Vial is also being added to their spell save DC for cleric spells. Is this a bug? Here is a screen shot showing a 19 save, but it should only be a 17 save for cleric spells...

That's a known issue.

All-Purpose Tool, Amulet of the Devout, Arcane Grimoire, Bloodwell Vial, Rhythm-Maker’s Drum, Moon Sickle - These items currently grant their bonus to all spells, rather than just ones for the specified class. We will work on the required modifier to resolve this.

And actually, you don’t even need the Monster Manual to do that. Imps are available in the Basic Rules at no cost.

But the Monster Manual itself doesn’t provide any character options, just statblocks.

If you can try the following

If Incognito fixed it, you might want to try clearing your cache and cookies.

Or it could be due to an extension interfering. You could disable them all and try again. If it works, you can re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.

I just started using ddb for a new campaign and purchased the PHB. I'm rolling a new character with the soldier background and noticed that the PHB, which matches the hard copy of the PHB, does not grant an additional language, but for some reason the dnd beyond character creator does. Does anyone know if this is a known bug or an intentional change? My DM seems to prefer to stick to the PHB but I don't know how to exclude the extra language on ddb.

By default, only spells with an attack roll are displayed as attacks. If you want any other spell to show there, you can click on that spell, open the Customize section in the sidebar, and click “Display as Attack”.

Thunder wave is a saving throw spell, not a spell attack. Therefore it doesn't have an attack roll
