my husband and I are pretty stumped with this. He recently had a player in his campaign add a spell called "Blazing Starfall" which he didn't recognise. I believe there was also one called "Shooting Star" which again we believe to not be official 5e. We presumed someone had added a homebrew spell from the ddb homebrew section (which does have a such a spell called this) and due to our content sharing on, everyone can see it. We have yet to work out who added the spell to their homebrew list as there are 10 of us in total inside that ddb campaign.

However, I am setting up a campaign of my own with only 5 players (all from the group of 10) and myself. We have content sharing on again, but my husband turned off homebrew when setting up his character. However, he can still see these homebrew "star" spells even though he has homebrew switched off. It's confused us greatly!

Anything in your “My Homebrew Collection” is shared with your campaigns automatically, with or without content sharing enabled.

Once you find out who it belongs to (definitely one of the five), they can remove it from their collection if they don’t want it shared.

(If it’s homebrew they created themself, it would still be available for them in My Homebrew Creations instead.)

that's really strange. What is the purpose of toggling homebrew on and off if people's homebrew collections can be shared anyway? I will ask around the 5 players though anyway and work out who it is, thank you!

As for the character, if that homebrew was added to the character — if they learned or prepared the spell — it will continue to show whether or not homebrew is enabled.

That’s for cases where people want to add a specific homebrew thing to a character but don’t always want to be shown all their homebrew options.

going from level 4 to 5, I see the proficiency bonus goes up on the character sheet when the character has enough XP for level 5 and even before actually leveling up in the character builder - is that how the actual rules of the game work or is that just on D&D Beyond character sheets?

RAW you level up the moment you get enough XP to do so, and any choices related to level up then happen. For things that don't require a choice, the character sheet does these automatically. Proficiency bonus is one such thing as prof bonus is based on character level not class level, so the fact you haven't chosen what class to 'spend' your level in is moot.
As for proficiency bonus not applying to ability checks, I'm not seeing that. I just made a character and XP progressed them from 4 to 5 without selecting a level. Their prof bonus increased and as did all associated skill modifiers as well as attack rolls and saving throws

Not sure if this is the correct channel for this but I was playing around with character creation and may have stumbled on a bug? I made a sorcerer/warlock and i gave them a bloodwell vial +1 and a rod of the pact keeper +1. the rod works correctly when modifying the stats of the warlock spells but the bloodwell vial adds the +1 to both sorcerer and warlock spells.

I know that if I subscribe at master level, I can make campaigns and share digital content I have purchased and unlocked. Does this apply to individual items as well or only to entire source books that have been purchased? For example, before subbing, I had unlocked individually the drow race, assassin subclass, specific feats and spells. Would those be sharable in a campaign?

Content sharing works for any content that anyone has within the campaign that has that content sharing enabled. So yes, individual items can be shared in a campaign with content sharing enabled (someone in the campaign will need a master tier subscription and the DM of the campaign will need to enable content sharing on the campaign).

OK, follow up question. If a character is in a campaign that has the content sharing enabled and used some of that content for character creation and adding spells/feats/etc on level ups, if they leave that campaign, do they immediately lose access to being able to use that character/level up selections? I had a now former friend allow me to be part of their campaign with content sharing, and due to some drama, I'm not wanting to use their campaign anymore. But the characters myself and another friend had made utilized some of their unlocked content.

Depends - what class is your character? Prepared casters like druids and clerics have all spells known (for their level) but can only have a small subset prepared (meaning castable) for the day.

Other casters like sorcerers only have a set of known spells.

Encounters aren't saved to the campaign per se (like they aren't displayed on the campaign page) but they can pull in characters from inside a campaign.
Think of the Encounter Builder and Combat Tracker as separate tools that align with DDB's other tools (including Campaign management).

I made a few encounters for my campaign last week using the encounter builder, and after deleting them all, there's one that I'm unable to remove. Deleting doesn't work. Hitting edit takes me to a new blank encounter. About two weeks ago -- possibly due to a mis-click but I'm doubtful -- I had a cantrip added to a character I was building. It was a homebrew cantrip, for a campaign which doesn't permit homebrew (AL). When I reviewed the change in the character builder class page under Artificer spells, it showed both an "Always Prepared" label, and a "X Remove" option. Clicking on "Remove" did nothing. Because I was making multiple copies of teh character for consideration, and because I wanted to preserve the character's inventory, I basically ignored this problem and proceeded forward.

Today, it is no longer showing the "Always Prepared" label, but (1) the known spells says I know 0/2 cantrips, but still offers me the "X Remove" button for that cantrip, and (2) when I create the pdf, the spell is listed as "Always Prepared".

[A] Is this a known bug that has been fixed? (I suspect some action has been taken since the behavior changed.)
[B] Should I attempt to remove the cantrip at this point, or is it better to request an administrator to do so?

I can try that, but in my experience, disabling homebrew (or any other source of content) does not remove existing selections on a character, but only prevents adding new selections from that source.

(And I usually leave homebrew content enabled, not for cantrips like this, but because I can create magic items like "Effects of Longstrider" or "Effects of Bladesong", etc.)

I have a character creating a custom attack action that prompts a saving throw rather than an attack roll. The save DC is 8 + CON + Proficiency; however, the custom action box only has an option for "Fixed Save DC", meaning that rather than automating anything, I / the player must remember to manually go into that action and update the DC when the character's proficiency bonus increases.

Is there a way to automate this that I'm overlooking? Or am I SOL?

Ancestral Legacy. Where you are replacing an existing race, we recommend that you add any features of your previous race that are being kept, by directly adding them to the character sheet.

Knowledge from a Past Life. This feature allows your character to add a d6 to their proficiency checks a limited number of times per long rest. You can easily access a d6 by heading to the dice roller at the bottom-left of the character sheet page.

You would select the Reborn lineage and just add notes as appropriate. If you are wanting to have more details automatically added you would need to make a homebrew race base don Reborn and manually add the additional Owlin features that you and your DM have agreed upon.

Hey, something strange has happened recently. Every roll I make (as a player or DM in any of the 3 campaigns I play or DM in) shows as green in Roll20 as if it's a critical success. Looking at the formulas it looks like ddb has set up anything greater than a 1 to be crit.

Example: Rolling 1d20cs> +11 = (18) + 11. Base die was an 18 so not a crit.

Where/how can I fix this?

So... I am using D&D Beyond to let character create their Dragonlance characters in prep for a campaign we are starting next week... however, running into an issue with Content Sharing... I thought sharing the content meant that it would give players access to the player rules of the Dragonlance books.. but it appears (from what the players have told me), it gives access to the entire book (which, obviously, includes the chapters on the adventure content). Is there a way to prevent this or will the Kender Race and the new Backgrounds/Feats appear without sharing the Dragonlance content?

I am having problems creating a drake companion for one of my players. I'm rathe tech challenged (actually VERY tech challenged LOL) and everything I've read tells me to just build it in homebrew. I've built spells and magic items in the homebrew section, but there I had something to follow or start with. Yes, this is true, but in foundry it can't be located as it is just a stat sheet and doesn't work with the pc. There literally is no "drake" imported from DDB. And, the fact that it uses the player's prof. bonus in many of its stats and actions as well as shares the players initiative is simply not working.

Normal trouble shooting steps: Try to disable any extensions and see if it still continues. Try on another browser, device, and network. For campaigns, does it have a name and are all the characters in it complete. For subscriptions, is your subscription still active.

I actually think I figured it out. The DM deactivated all the current PCs to run a oneshot and mine got unassigned so I didn't have an active character to share content with.
