i purchased journey through the radiant citadel thinking i would get the new playable races, come to find out the races are actually in spelljammer, then i saw spelljammer in my current product licenses so im trying to figure out if i still need to preorder spelljammer or if i will be granted access via a product key
Okay - so to get access to the content from Spelljammer: Adventures in Space, you would need to pre-order that source (or wait until it releases and then purchase the content you wish from it). Purchasing a different book doesnt grant you the rasce content - Journeys through the Radiant Citadel does not contain races.
The Spelljammer Acadamey source (which would show as activated by product Key) is a totally sperate adventure series that has been recently claimable at no cost - having it does not mean you get access to Spelljammer: Adventures in Space, as they are separate.
thats what i figured thank you
I have a question, when I cancel my subscription and it ends, do I keep my homebrew?
When you say 'your homebrew', do you mean content you have made, or content others have published and you've added to your collection?
Added to my collection
Yeah, that will remain in your collection once your sub ends
However, if you remove it, you won't be able to re-add it
Ah, thanks.
Is there a way to turn off rolling a crit auto doubling damage dice on the character sheet?
I'm afraid not.
But you can right click or long press before you roll to change it for that individual roll.
In the homebrew item creator is there any way to change the base damage type of a magic weapon? I'm trying to change something like a dagger from piercing to force
Add a Modifier with Type: "Replace Damage Type" and Subtype: "Force".
You can make a homebrew copy of a similar weapon, like Sunblade, if you want to compare and see how that was set up.
Sometimes homebrew edits can take up to 15 minutes before they show on your character sheet.
Otherwise, I'd suggest making a copy of Sunblade to compare notes and make sure you've got it set up to match.
With the Dragon Wing Longbow how do I get DDB to specify which type of dragon is used?
There's not a built-in choice. You can make a homebrew copy of that item if you'd like to make any adjustments, though.
Ok, thank you
does anyone know if this is possible? having multiple scalevalues on a homebrew subclass feature?
So, I've been working on a few homebrew subclasses using D&DBeyond's tools and though it's been working great so far, there is a slight issue. A feature ...
i have multiple actions that scale their range, but only one that scales it’s damage die. i got the ranges to scale successfully, but not sure how to distinguish the damage die now
What’s the text description for this feature?
how do you mean? like the full description? sorry, i’m not super proficient at making these HB subclasses and especially not at snippet codes…
Yeah. What are the game rules for this? How is the feature written?
it’s a level 3 rogue feature which grants multiple sub-features, pictured below. most of them just scale the range, from 30ft at lvl 3, up to 120ft at lvl 17, but one of the sub-features doesn’t have a range, and only scales it’s damage die, from 1d4, to 4d4. but i’m not sure how to make it differentiate when to scale the range, vs the damage die.
How is that 120ft calculated? What’s the formula?
And what’s the formula for the damage one?
i just used {{scalevalue}} and the level scaling section under the 3rd level feature. i tried scaling the damage die (1d4 at lvl 3, 2d4 at 9, 4d4 at 17), in the same spot, but it only picked up the range scaling. i’m not sure how to tie the two different scalevalues to each other. if that makes sense? like i said, i’m a newb at this 😅 haha
can someone help me make a bard
dnd beyond
should I change my stats
I wanna be the "I seduce the dragon" type of bard
or a combat ready bard idk
should I have not put the other modifier at 10
#character-discussion can help with that.
This channel is for technical help with the site itself.
I was hoping we could reduce one of those to a numerical formula and just skip the scalevalue, but the math just doesn’t work out…
Are they always granted all of these sub-features?
yeah, they’re all granted at level 3, then just improved on at later levels.
they’re the core features of the subclass
Seems like the easiest solution, then, would be to split that damage one into a separate class feature.
So that you can then specify a separate scalevalue.
what are the other modifier and override score boxes for?
They’re typically used for temporary changes during gameplay, like the effects of a shadow’s strength drain ability.
hmmmm, okay. that’s kinda what i was thinking might be the case, but wasn’t sure if there was a workaround to avoid that.
Doesn’t seem like it in this case.
nobody's online in #character-discussion :(
okay, thank you for the help!
so, update:
i’m not a fan of it showing up as a separate feature on the features & traits sections, so i think i’m just going to keep it all as one feature, and edit the snippet so that the value doesn’t show at all. you can still read the die scaling when you click on it to view the full description though. and you can see the die scaling as a button to roll in the actions section anyway, so i think this is good enough. i thought about just hiding the mini-pewterarm-feature from the builder and the sheet, but hiding it in the sheet hides the action snippet as well as in the features sections, so unfortunately that doesn’t work. so yeah. i think just adjusting the snippet to be vague works best. thanks again!
Gate isn't showing up on my Warlock's 9th level Arcanum, despite additional spells being active.
That’s a known issue.
OPTIONAL SPELLS. Gate & Weird spells are not showing as being available for the Mystic Arcanum feature.

hey so this might be kiiiinda a dumb question, but where does content go after you purchase it? I bought the Path of Wild Magic and I can't seem to find it anywhere (also i checked pinned messages and I couldnt find anything about the Path of Wild Magic, so im sorry if i missed it on accident 😅 )
You can find the individual purchases under Game Rules. In this case, you’d click on the Barbarian class to find it.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/barbarian#PathofWildMagic
Thank you! I should've specified a tad more maybe-- i'm looking for it specifically in the character creation section. I heard there was a wild magic Sorcerous Origin I could play, but I could have that wrong
Path of Wild Magic, from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, is a barbarian subclass. (Every barbarian subclass starts with “Path of…”)
The sorcerer’s Wild Magic subclass is found in the Player’s Handbook:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/players-handbook
Either way, once you’ve purchased those, they’ll automatically appear as an available selection when choosing your subclass.
oooooh that makes a lot of sense
thank you so much for the help, man!!
very much appreciated
if i wanted to buy the arcane trickster subclass, where would i go to do that? i know which book, but i know you can buy sub classes separately and i’m looking for that :D.
Each book has Additional Purchase Options further down the page. As the Arcane Trickster subclass is from the PHB, go to the PHB Marketplace page (https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/players-handbook) and then scroll down - I prefer then using the drop down to filter to show just subclasses, and then can add the Arcane Trickster subclass to the shopping cart.
Beyond is not loading in my pc
I use chrome, edge, Firefox... But is not loading
Even in my cellphone is not loading
Currently having an issue purchasing a class from a book in Beyond. When trying to checkout, it continuously gives me an error message that my transaction can't be completed, but I am sure I have the money and my payment methods work everywhere else. Anyone have a solution to this?
So is there a way to add a dancing item statblock https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/bard#CollegeofCreation to your character sheet?
I can add acolyte, but that's not the one i want.
that's for actual statblocks you find in monster entries. The statblock for a dancing item from the subclass is in the class feature, not a standalone monster.
So there's no way to add it then to keep track of HP? because I just basically "homebrewed" a monster to get it to work for my current level (but it'll change again next level lol)
The feature has a hit point tracker on the character sheet
At the bottom, that - 40 + is the items hit points
Hey guys, I am having trouble adding spells to a homebrew sorcerer subclass. Would this be the place to look for advice?
Just for reference, this is what I have set for the spells in question.
But when I go to the character sheet, they do not appear to be added to his known spells
it does have a hp tracker, but it doesn't have a statblock, so if i want it to grapple, i'd need to memorize it's strength score, and I'd need to remember the rest of it's statblock like attack/damage roll
The statblock is in the feature description, isn't it?
yes it is, but dnd beyond now is stored in 1 app, so i can't switch from sourcebook to my character sheet quickly, also by that reasoning there's no need to add the spell descriptions in the character sheet as well, because you can look them up in the source book.
You can't view features on your sheet in the app?
i can see features & traits, but it doesn't show the statblock
Are you on the app?
it does reference to p 28 of tasha's
Tap Animating Performance and it will show the full details
but there's no link, instead it opens some text without the statblock
oh, clicked the wrong trait 😄
ok
well still no attackroll button for it
but there's none for my home brew either
That's something that is still pending for all pets/summons/mounts etc
yeah ok so i guess i then have to look up my spell attack modifier and my PB and and them manually to rolls
thanks for the help
Did it give you an error code with that? Do you get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
Sometimes homebrew edits can take up to 15 minutes before they show on your character sheet. Are these spells still missing?
If so, I wonder if it’s because they’re marked as both Known and Prepared — sorcerers don’t typically prepare spells.
Either way, you could also try removing the spells you added there. Instead, look on the main screen of the subclass for a field called “Additional Specific Spells”. Putting the spells there should follow the same pattern as official sorcerer features like Psionic Spells:
Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.
When I fill my information and attempt to complete the checkout, it gives me an error code at the top saying there was an error completing the transaction. I’ve tried it on multiple devices with the same results as well as on different browsers. And weirdly, when I refresh the page it gives me an error message saying i can’t use the same payment method more than once?
What’s the error code?
any way to switch an account for D&D beyond made with an apple account over to android?
used to have an iphone but dont anymore
You can link a Google account here in your account settings:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
Afterward you can unlink your Apple account if you choose (or simply use them both).
Not sure if this is the correct place to put this but never hurts to ask!!!
Is there a way to import monsters sheets form dnd beyond to roll 20???
There’s no official connectivity between DDB and Roll20.
👍
I can't seem to figure this out. I'm making a new bard and want to give him College of Creation, but it won't show up on the character sheet options
I own TCoE
did you just buy tcoe?
No, I've owned it since it released
Just to confirm, is there a checkmark next to it on this page?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/tashas-cauldron-of-everything
...I think I figured it out. I DIDN'T buy it, a friend did and shared it in our campaign. My mistake 🤦♂️
happens to the best of us
I wish I could buy the legendary bundle again and it just automatically deduct the stuff I previously bought.
Just so I don't have to dig and find everything I do and don't own lol
The Marketplace should already filter out the things you do own. (Unless you go into the settings and tell it not to.)
When I tried adding it to my cart it won't let me buy it again for myself since I bought it before. So it isn't automatically deducting
And if you have the Legendary bundle, it gets you 15% off all future book purchases — the same as if you’d bought it in the bundle to begin with.
Oh yeah, forgot all about that lol
You won’t be able to buy the bundle itself again, though.
I am actually new to dndbeyond as well and I'm trying to buy just the things I need so I'm not wasting money on statblocks and such I'll never use out of the different books as I own hard copies of most of them. I'm trying to rebuild a character in dndbeyond that had the thirsting blade invocation from xanthars but I cant find a way to buy just that
Purchasing any warlock subclass from that book should unlock the extra invocations from there.
Let me doublecheck and make sure Im not missing it somehow
The Celestial or The Hexblade
I just bought the whole subclass bundle for xgte and tcoe just to save myself a few bucks in the long run
but im looking in there and Im not seeing it just to make sure I went into edit character and leveled my character up to 20 and it still didnt show
okay I cleared my cache on chrome and it started working
Thanks for making sure I had the right thought process!
if you get an artifact with major benefit property and someone rolls a 90 for a 7th level spell when attuned how would you add that on your character sheet
Assuming you’ve already made a homebrew copy of that item, just click Add a Spell.
How do I pull a character I created into aa campaign? All I can see is creating an unassigned character
At the top of the campaign page is an invite link. If you visit that link, you’ll be able to add an existing character.
ahh k
Did it via homebrew feat add a spell
That works, too.
I am having trouble adding spells to a homebrew sorcerer subclass - I tried to just copy the settings from aberrant mind, but they don't seem to be appearing on the character's sheet.
This is what I have at the moment.
How to fix frames? They are not displaying correctly, especially these 2.
is there a way to make certain spells from a feat only become available at a certain level? and to allow them to use spells slots per use, rather than be at will or once per day?
also, for some reason, a few spells aren’t showing up in the spell search when i try to add them to the feat 🤔
i’m essentially trying to add the warlock expanded spell list as spells that are automatically Known, rather than simply being options that can be Learned.
all the spells that are not showing up are the different Smites, for some reason.
for the time being, they’re all showing up as At Will spells, and being granted when the character shouldn’t have access to those leveled spells yet.
i could add them as i level up, but i’d rather avoid that later work, if i can possibly just make it now so that they automatically appear when they’re supposed to
Aberrant Mind’s spells have “Counts as Known Spell” set to "No". That might be the issue here, if your number of known spells is already maxed out.
Note also that homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on your character sheet. You might have set things correctly and it just hand’t caught up.
Neither of those are possible through a feat. I’d suggest making a homebrew copy of the subclass and adding it there.
As for some spells not showing up, have you purchased those spells?
Is there any reason artificer spells dont show up when I create a level 1 artifcer? I'm just checking if I am missing something.
Have you made sure to prepare them? If you don't prepare any, you won't have any to use in the Spells tab.
You can use 'manage spells' in the sheet, or under the spells tab when in the editor under the Class section.
Okay, I see that. Is that how it works for all spellcasting classes on DDB?
Yes, you typically need to have some spells known or prepared in order to cast them lol
The ability to manage spells from the sheet view itself is amazing, especially for prepared casters like Clerics and Druids
I made a cleric just right now and other than racial spells, the list is empty on the sheet itself. Is that standard? I seem to remember choosing spells during character creation but maybe im confusing it with roll20.
you can hit that red 'manage spells' button to find that menu, or you can look in the character sheet Editor, go to "Class", then there should be a small tab for spells in there.
Basically, everyone starts blank and has to go through "manage" to add and prepare, right
oh ok, let me look
yeah, it doesn't auto-add any. You have to pick what you get
That's what I was skipping, lol
I swore it showed me the spells during char creation. thanks, I found the little tab.
But yes you would select spells at character creation, being cantrips (all classes), and spells known by bards, warlocks, sorcerers, rangers, and what spells are in a wizard's spellbook
Every other caster (Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Wizard, Artificer) prepare their spells from their list (Wizard prepares from spells in their spellbook, all else prepare from every spell available to their respective class)
Thanks buddy, got it sorted now.
A Player in my campaign rolled these
are they actually legit?
Character's a Triton Barbarian
You’d have to ask that player if it’s legit.
i did they said it's just good rolls
but it looks like too many good rolls
It’s not beyond the realm of possibility, but it does seem statistically unlikely.
It’s also possible they didn’t roll using the intended method.
4d6, keep the highest three.
If they just rolled a d20, those numbers would be easier to reach.
Hmm let me question them a little
thanks
Can a DM looking through the edit part of a character sheet see the 'rolled' section in ability scores?
Yea you can see the rolled groups
If they even rolled using DDB’s dice, that is.
bit confused by artificer starting spells vs. what is shown on DDB. How many spells would an artificer know at level 1? Is it 2 cantrips and 2 1st levels spells? DDB says "18 known".
You can choose from those 18
Artificers know all leveled spells on their spell list, but they can only use spells that they've prepared. They can freely choose their prepared spells from their list of known spells every day. This is what the 2 1st level spells thing is about.
That doesn't apply to cantrips, those you still either know or don't know.
and so the INT modifier thing is about spells you can prep, right?
Yes
You prepare the list of artificer spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the artificer spell list. When you do so, choose a number of artificer spells equal to your Intelligence modifier + half your artificer level, rounded down (minimum of one spell).
I’m not an Artificer expert, but if you have Eberron: Rising from the Last War and check out chapter 1, it looks like it outlines that a pretty well.
DDB will do that math for you, which is why the image above says "Prepared Spells: 0/3".
The "(18 known)" is basically saying that you have 18 possible choices to prepare.
In other words, you can pick three of those 18 spells. After your next long rest, you can change any or all of them.
You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest.
As for the idea that you start with two 1st-level spells, you might be confusing it with spell slots.
That's what it was. The table is telling me 2 cantrips, then the rest is spell slots.
That doesn't seem to work either, I still can't get the spells to show up on the character's list.
Do you have a link to that character?
Last silly question, would the known spells I choose here have to line up with anything prepared? it doesnt seem to do it automatically.
Like, i'd need to list Dancing Lights as "known", right?
Prepared Spells just shows the spells you’ve selected under Known Spells.
Those are the spells you’re actually able to cast, and the ones that will show up on your character sheet.
Known Spells is all the spells you have available to choose from.
nvm, DDB seemed to merge them together until I refreshed, sorry!
Thanks for the help.
What class feature did you add these spells to?
I added a new feature with all the spells, but I don't even see the feature here now that i look at it
It’s not marked as “Hide on Character Sheet” or anything, is it?
No
Is the subclass still in your My Homebrew Collection?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-collection
I won’t be able to see it myself.
But I can try and find someone else with enough magic.
If screensharing helps I could do that
I’m not at my computer at the moment.
It sounds like things are set up correctly, but the changes aren’t getting pulled into the character sheet.
Can you try turning inspiration on and off for that character, and then refresh the page?
Done, didn't seem to change anything
I’d suggest contacting customer support, then.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
They should be able to take a look under the hood and see what’s up.
Well thats a bummer, what's the usual response time?
Tickets are answered in the order they’re received, so it all depends.
Alright, ticket submitted, wish me luck! lol
Hey can someone help me use a homebrew class? I cant seem to find out how to do it
There isn’t an option for homebrew classes, only subclasses.
So theres this race I found that I want to use for a character but I cant find out how
Like i dont know how to use it for a character
Found where?
the dnd beyond homebrew website
To add public homebrew to your collection, you’ll need a DDB subscription.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/store/subscribe
If you’re already subscribed, you should see a button there at the bottom that says “Add to Collection”.
Then you just need to make sure Homebrew Content is enabled for your character, and you’ll be able to select it like any other race.
Alright ty!
Hello! I have quick question, my player is lvl 11 bard, and for some reason Expertise at lvl 10 only has 1 choice.
Can you provide a link to the affected character?
It's because you only have proficiency in 3 skills and you've already got expertise in 2 of them
This means you only have one valid candidate for expertise
Is there any other place where the 4th proficiency is selected?
you should have 5 proficiencies just from being a bard and having a background.
You haven't chosen a background, which would grant you more skills to choose from
Yes! Thank you!
thanks :)
I can see a sourcebook on the desktop web version, but not the mobile or app.
I have verified that I'm logged in with the same account
Has anyone seen this, any idea what I should do?
Which book specifically?
Tales from the yawning portal
And what happens when you try to open it on mobile, or in the app?
It takes me to Marketplace to purchase it.
ooh it doesn't show up in my orders BUT I can see the material on desktop site anyway
Not in my order history, and not in my current product licenses where it would show up if purchased, comped or subscription gave me access
Weird.
And you’re able to access the full book? Not just the table of contents?
Can I add people to my campaign, so I can edit their stats, unstead of me having to trust them.
Yes
After you create a campaign, just copy the invite link at the top of your campaign page and send it to your players.
Yes. I thought it was because a campaign or subscription but it's definitely not.
I own the physical copy and was questioning something the other day so I logged in on my computer to check. Then went back later when I was on my app and couldn't access it. This made me realize I have access to the content and should not.
Just to confirm: if you go to this page, it does not say “You already own this”, correct?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/bundles/tales-from-the-yawning-portal
Are you in any campaigns where Content Sharing is enabled? Have you confirmed that no-one in those campaigns own this content? (It may not be the same person who enabled Content Sharing. It could be anyone in the campaign.)
I’m honestly not sure. If it is indeed being shared with you, it should be accessible in the app as well.
If you go to this page, does it say your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
Yes
For character creation with the site or app, how can I access things like Battle Master if I own the physical book?
And you said you already checked that you’re using the same account for both, right?
You can use the homebrew tools to recreate that subclass for free. (For private use only, though; please don’t publish it.)
Or you can buy just the subclass by itself, if you don’t want to get the whole book yet.
Whatever you spend gets credited toward the remaining cost of the book itself, too.
Not fond of the idea of buying again.
Then like I said, you’re welcome to add it for free using the homebrew tools.
If you get stuck or have any questions, we’re happy to help.
I got it. Was easier than I thought, thank you
correct, that was the first thing I thought - maybe I had accidentally logged into a different account or Twitch or Google SSO wasn't working
I’d suggest for now that you try to find out whether or not that is being shared with you (i.e. if it’s owned by anyone in a Content Sharing campaign with you).
Then contact customer support.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Whether that’s to ask why you’re able to access it on the site when you shouldn’t, or why you can’t access it on mobile when you should.
Thanks. I'm just trying to do the right thing and make sure I'm supposed to see it. I want to buy the digital version too, but not going to until this issue is sorted out
You are logged into the app on the same username as the website where the book can be accessed?
Yes. I just verified that the guy who owns the campaign we are forming does own it, but that doesn't explain why I can see it on desktop but not mobile browser or the app.
To save you a ticket (since it will just be me responding later) - what is your username?
Not a huge deal for me campaign-wise but now it's just a matter of curiosity.
MacNobody
And that is 100% the username you are in the app with?
You see the same characters and campaigns in both?
Ahhhh, I think I may have discovered... The book is shared in two campaings by a player - one you are the DM of, the other another member (Qickly) is the DM of - the 2nd campaign (the LoveBites one), Qickly has blocked the adventures
These are the mobile devices (my phone and tablet)
It might be that the mobile app is seeing it blocked there and enforcing that block
I'd recommend having the DM of the Love Bites campaign unblock that source, and see if the app then allows access.
Oh, ok. Weird that it's shared by my campaign since I don't own it in digital format though.
I just sent him a message to ask, but I'll buy it and call it good.
Thanks for looking into this and on a Sunday night no less.
Ehhh, monday lunchtime here for me. Alas, being in the future isnt always as exciting as it might seem 😛
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't accidentally in receipt of something I wasn't supposed to 😄
LOL well, enjoy your lunch!
When Content Sharing is enabled, it shares everyone’s books.
Not just the DM or the person who enabled it.
good to know
heya, is there a way to look for some pre-made characters?
just looking for lvl 1 chars
D&D Beyond doesn't support pre-made characters outside claiming characters within a campaign
Help me
I have a question
On D&D beyond can u play with others?
I'm or ping me with answer
D&D Beyond has the ability to group characters in campaigns, share content, and has a game log where rolls from the players and DM can be seen. These all support playing online with other people, but can also be used at the table in person
How do I play online?
Check out #dnd-newcomers, the pinned links include lots of useful information, including one on getting started playing online
Ok
@cobalt laurel Please do not use the modping command unnecessarily
No, a lot of people play by text
Ok
Although these are questions better suited to #dnd-newcomers; this channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond tools, site and services
Thanks
Hi sorry, I tried to ask elsewhere and didn't get a helpful answer; do you know what I need to buy on D&D beyond in order to access the optional class features for Rangers/
I can't afford the entire book right now so if there's a way I can access it without buying the whole thing that would be best
Optional Class Features are accessible with the full purchase of Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. (They're not available for individual purchase.)
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/tashas-cauldron-of-everything
anyone know if forge cleric's "blessing of the forge" +1 bonus is built into ddb somehow?
that is, is there's a way to apply that boost somewhere that i'm just missing?
You can manually add the bonus to whatever weapon or armor you want to use.
Just click the one you want, then open the Customize section in the sidebar.
You could also add a feat to do it to have an easy-ish way to turn it on and off.
Well, you could have a feat that gives you +1 AC, at least.
I don’t think that’s a viable solution for the weapon boost.
so, that's what i thought - but i now see that armor doesn't have all the customization options weapons do
got it got it
ty!
that'll do. it would be nice if there was some way to do this that was similar to the attunement ui
I can pass that feedback along. 👍🏻
Hey does anyone know why my variant human can only have grapple as its feat?
Grapple is the only feat available for free, the rest are in books like the Player's Handbook
Ok ty
so it's not that the variant human can only have that one, you just don't own any other feats
no problem!
hey does anyone know how to get the oath breaker paladin?
You need to buy it via the Dungeon Master's Guide
Either by buying the whole book, or just the subclass
thanks
also one more quick one
if i make a campaign on ddb can i just use a preexisting chartcer instead of creating on again cause i cant find the option to do so
you can! You need to follow the invite link (even if you're the DM) and you'll have an option to join with any character you've made that's not already in a campaign
A question for those that may have come before me. I've got an old DnD sourcebook I'm trying to build into homebrew in Beyond. It includes a race, and a bunch of feats that can go with that race. As such, those feats should have a racial prerequisite.
The issue I see is that the drop down for the racial prerequisite does not have the homebrew race I'm creating in the population. Is there a setting I missed on the setup of the race that would have allowed it to show up in there?
Feats cannot have homebrew racial pre-requisites. Currently the pre-requisite field is hard coded for the official races
What I tend to do in those cases is to set a prerequisite for something basically unattainable in the normal rules: Strength 30, or Size Gargantuan. That stops it from getting displayed for other characters.
Then I’ll temporarily disable Feat Prerequisites for that character while I add the feat.
Hello,
How can I share a character to a friend of mine in his dndbeyond app?
You can't do this on the app, but you can on the website
You will need to do the following
- Make a campaign
- Copy the campaigns invite link
- Go to that link
- Join with the character you've made
- Click Unassign on the character
- Give the invite link to your friend
- Have them claim the character
Uou thanks. so when my friend claims the character (a character that uses Player Handbook's norms), it means that he owns the character, although he only has the Basic Norms?
Yep, it does
anybody else unable to use the 'sign in with google' option right now? it's broken for me on edge and internet explorer both...
it is working for me on Opera GX
and Chrome
also question is there a way to homebrew a pact boon for a warlock?
It is not possible to homebrew base class features at this time
“Broken” how?
As a workaround, you could potentially leave your Pact Boon unselected and add it as a homebrew feat or subclass feature instead.
Or maybe even just a custom action directly on your character sheet.
@uneven lantern okie dokie I'll just homebrew my specific warlock patron and just pop all the abilities in there thanks for your help!
anyone know why as soon as i switch on digital dice rolling it instantly turns off?
Does this affect multiple browsers or just one?
It could be something in your browsers settings is blocking your preference from being sent/saved
in another browser it works
Then it's likely an issue with your browser settings. Check that third party cookies are enabled/allowed and that hardware acceleration is turned on
Is there a way to print sheets from Beyond easily? With all data
Use the PDF export option
Click 'Manage' next to your characters name and scroll down to select the Export option
Thank you. I just kept looking at the main sheet page. Forgot that option.
I think this is the right place to ask, I followed the D&D Tweets bot so that I could get news in my server... but I noticed that no Tweets were coming through in it. Is there anything that I need to set up that it does or is this a bug?
How do I transfer a character to a campaign?
I keep clicking "Create character" without doing so in a shared campaign
Is there an option to create a character in a campaign automatically?
You need to use the campaign invite link; going to that link will give you the option to make a character or import one
okay
Oh, and one more thing
I'm fairly certain fighter multiclass is supposed to be 13 str OR 13 dex
Do you have a link to the character you're getting that message for?
It also depends on what class you're multiclassing out of. Barbarian and Paladin both have mandatory strength requirements
To qualify for a new class, you must meet the ability score prerequisites for both your current class and your new one, as shown in the Multiclassing Prerequisites table.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/customization-options#Prerequisites
paladins have a str requirement?
Like that makes sense for barbarian but why for paladins?
My paladin is a dexterous one
That's not a question for this channel
We don't make the rules for D&D
If you want, you can disable multiclass requirements on the settings for your character
Hi! I have a question about content sharing. A player has bought some content, however, im the DM. Can we still share content even if the one that bought it is a player and not a DM?
Yes, and the person who uses the ability to enable content sharing does not need to be the DM nor the person with the content.
okay, thanks!
Hello! I have a magic item homebrew question, I am trying to make a rifle that has additional damage die (from 1d4 to 2d12) depending on how many charges you spend, is there a way to automate the roll, or should I just add a reference table to the item description?
There isn't a way to automate that. It's difficult doing anything involving damage dice, the only easy thing is changing what damage type the weapon deals at base.
I figured, I ended up just adding reference table for that
Question: I have 4 campaigns as a DM with Master Tier subscription. In all of them the source book sharing seems to work. However, in one where I'm using Above VTT my homebrew items are not shared. Is this a known limitation or bug with using Above VTT?
AboveVTT is not supported by D&D Beyond, so you are better asking Above's support
The sharing of DnDBeyond homebrew in DnDBeyond Master Tier subscription campaigns is not in scope? the VTT is just a difference noted to further the trouble shooting.
Sorry, the way you phrased the question, I read it as asking for help with the VTT
You don't need a subscription to share homebrew content within a campaign
It's done automatically for anything in your collection
But this part of your question is not one for this server
However, in one where I'm using Above VTT my homebrew items are not shared. Is this a known limitation or bug with using Above VTT?
We do not support, nor actually endorse the use of AboveVTT or any third party extension as it can cause unexpected behaviour
If you do so, you should contact the extension developer for any support you may need
Is Homebrew Content enabled for that character?
That was the fix... Thanks!
I was curious if there was a way to add a photo to represent a custom feat I made. I can't seem to find any option for that. Any ideas?
Feats do not support images
Ok, just wanted confirmation. Thank you
FWIW, photos aren’t visible for published homebrew anyway.
It’s only if you share a campaign with the owner.
I don't publish anything. Just for me and my players
There is no way to transfer a character to a campaign from “my characters”?
No, you need to use the invite link
Following that link will give you the option to join with an existing character
Content sharing seems to be bugged in one of my campaigns, but working fine in others.
I have content sharing enabled, but no one is seeing the content. When I go to CONTENT MANAGEMENT, nothing loads. When I click DISABLE CONTENT SHARING, a window pops up with an HTTP error code 403.
Like Chrome extensions? I just disabled them all, emptied the cache, and did a hard reload and it still gave me the error.
Then you'll want to submit a support ticket, as they have elevated permissions to inspect your account and its settings. You can do that here: https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Oh alright. Thanks!
Actually, if Ive caught you before you do that - check that you have an active character in the campaign.
If your only characters have been deactivated by the DM, you cant change the content sharing status.
That's exactly what the issue was! But I had already sent in a support ticket 😬
Off to update the ticket real quick!
I want to add Underwater breathing + swimming speed to options in this HB race I am making
How can I do that?
You can make a copy of Cloak of the Manta Ray if you want to see how that was set up.
Pretty sure the breathing is just something you’d put in the text description, though.
And for the swim speed, I think it’s a Modifier with Type: “Swimming” “Set” and Subtype: “Innate Speed (Swiming)”.
Then put the distance in Fixed Value, or leave it blank to have it match their walking speed.
I'm not seeing "Swimming" appear
Not seeing it appear where?
In modifier type
how would i add ac to a magic items modifiers?
It kind of depends on the specifics of what you’re adding.
You could make a copy of a +1 Shield or +1 Armor if you want to see how the official items were set up for that.
But I think it’s a Modifier with Type: “Bonus”, Subtype: “Armor Class”, Fixed Value: “1”
yeah i found it ty
My premium I bought on the app isn't transferring the web version on pc
I assume you mean a subscription?
Yeah
Was this on iOS or Android? How long ago did you subscribe?
Android, last night, so about 24 hours ago
If you go to this page, I take it it says you’re not subscribed?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
Does it say your entitlements are in sync?
When I go there, it does yes
When I try to use the features, and go to the premium section on the website, It says I'm not
Although, I can't really tell
Which premium section on the website, exactly?
I have infinite characters, but the content sharing isn't working right
Subscribe to D&D Beyond to create unlimited characters, share your books with friends, and access game tools that make playing Dungeons & Dragons easier.
Oh yeah, that page always says to subscribe.
Oh, okay
It sounds like your subscription is active, though.
Well then it might just be content sharing
What problems are you having with Content Sharing?
I'm attempting to make a character, and the DM for one of the campaigns has a bunch of books, and it isn't allowing me to use the content
Is Content Sharing enabled for that campaign?
It is
And is your character assigned to that campaign?
No, it's not
That would be the cause, then.
Oh, I thought the sub got me access to use it on all my characters
Shared character options are only available within the campaign that’s sharing them.
Oh, I was misinformed then, sorry about that
Thank you for your help
is it normal for a male player to roleplay a female character?
That's not a question for this channel, you'd wanna ask in #dnd-discussion
anyone else having issues using the filter function on the dndbeyond website? On desktop and mobile I can't filter spells, monsters, etc
Tried chrome and firefox, neither worked
What's happening when you try?
I'll click selections on the filters (ie for Spells I'll click 3rd level), it will highlight, but when I hit the "filter spells" button nothing happens
And if I try to open the "show advanced filters" tab, it takes me to the top of the page
I've used the filter function successfully before, but it looks like the GUI has been updated recently? I haven't been able to use it since
What happens if you go to this link
https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells?filter-class=0&filter-search=&filter-level=3&filter-verbal=&filter-somatic=&filter-material=&filter-concentration=&filter-ritual=&filter-sub-class=
It takes me to the correct page. I've been able to access specific pages with old links and google searches, but would prefer to use the filter function
Just checking something
Are you running any extensions? I was able to filter to that page so the issue isn't occuring my end
I'm only using an adblocker and a dark mode extension. Though I recently installed firefox without extensions (thought maybe it was a browser issue) and was still unable to filter. But I can try disabling and filtering again
Ok, tried disabling all extensions on both chrome and firefox and still unable to use the filter function.
What happens if you try an in-private/incognito window?
No success in either browser 🤔
Very odd, do you have access to a mobile device with mobile internet, say a phone or tablet?
Basically the last thing I can think of ruling out is your internet connection
Just checked with another household member on the same wifi and dndbeyond filtering is working just fine for her
These are screenshots from my devices (pardon the 1% on my phone, have been casting the Critical Role rebroadcast to my TV)
I noticed the drop down menu appears different on my desktop compared to hers...
Interestingly, her mobile device is also having issues with the filtering
Ah, okay
So the fact your selection fields are displaying oddly suggests the page isn't fully loading/loaded
It could be you have a bad cached version, can you try clearing your cache and reloading?
RIP tried clearing cache on both browsers, then full history including cookies, no change
Super weird
That is odd and I'm sorry but I'm all out of ideas
No prob, thanks for the suggestions anyways
It does look like something is failing to load, the only thing I can think of is the site node you're connected to is different from the one I am and yours is returning an error
But that wouldn't explain why other people in your household are fine
I would just be interested to see if anyone else is encountering this issue
I'll just have to chalk it up to being cursed in some hyper specific way for now
Thanks again!
No worries and sorry I couldn't be more help
Ah gotcha thanks
It takes a bit for the HB race to update once you edit it, right?
All homebrew is cached once added to your sheet, which can cause a delay in updates propagating, yeah
if I'm making a homebrew subclass with a feature that has limited uses, is there a way to make it half your proficiency bonus?
Yeah. Add an Action and make sure to give it a Reset Type. Then save it and edit it again to find the Limited Use section at the bottom.
Then add an entry with Number Of Uses: "0.5", Use Proficiency Bonus checked, and Proficiency Bonus Operator: "x (Multiplication)"
Hey I have a question Does integrated protection work with unarmored defense
This channel is for help with the D&D Beyond Website and services. You are probably better of asking in #dnd-rules :) But to answer your question, you always get +1 to your AC with integrated protection even if you wear no armor.
Ok thanks
Hey Laelia - the team had been tweaking a few things and I believe in resolving something that popped up, this issue with the filters should also be fixed - you might need to clear the browser cache first.
Hello. A player wants to use a spell you have to pay for (Hex). Does he have to buy it, or do I? Neither of us has a subscription.
The person who owns the character should buy it if you’re not in a campaign with content sharing.
Got it. Much appreciated it.
Is there any option to use the optional proficiency dice rule instead of the static bonus with ddb characters?
Not currently, no.
If you're making homebrew, is there a way to force it to update? Basically, if I change something in my subclass, how do I force it to update and show up that way on a character sheet that has that subclass?
also thank you spamandtuna btw!
As soon as you save and publish your homebrew it's live and usable (Allow for ~20 minutes for cache updates). However, the previous version is still kept and that is the one on your character sheet.
What you should do is publish the new one, make sure it's in your collection, remove the old one from your collection, go back to your sheet, select a different subclass, force refresh of page and cache, and select the new subclass.
Ah, no it's not published, it's just for myself and my friends, we haven't started yet though and I'm still making it, I just like to check if special actions etc. show up correctly
Oh. Not published, it keeps the same version. It just takes some time to refresh. You can try and delete the cache for DDB and refresh but that might result in other unfortunate circumstances.
Published or not, it can take several minutes (even as much as half an hour) for the cached data on your sheet to clear and be updated with your changes
This cache is in D&D Beyonds back end, do unfortunately can't be cleared or forced to update by users
it doesn't want me to do it
What would be the correct snippet code for (Proficiency Bonus x d4)?
Is it {{proficiency*d4}}?
1: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/25930-using-snippet-codes-in-your-homebrew
2: I think it'd be {{proficiency#unsigned}}d4 (so it shows the number of your prof bonus, doesn't have a +, and d4 isn't a part of the snippet bit)
Ah ok thank you. Could I do {{proficiency#unsigned}}[rollable]d4[/rollable]? Would that roll the correct number of d4's from the sheet?
Dice roll notation cannot at this time use variables
And snippets don't function in monster stat blocks, even when displayed in extras
I got another question: Some of the sorcerer subclasses like Clockwork get extra spells, and it says you can replace them, but how do I actually do that?
Site limitation. Best workaround is make a copy of the subclass, and edit the spells there.
oh ok thank you!
so i made a character in roll20 and my dm wants me to put it on dndbeyond cause thats where everyone else has theirs so im trying to transfer the character over
but the class and race are both from material that i don't have on dndbeyond and idk how to transfer them over
You’ve got a few options:
- You can use DDB’s homebrew tools to recreate that content for free, using your existing books as reference.
(Although DDB doesn’t support homebrew classes, only subclasses.)
- You can buy races, subclasses, etc. by themselves, so you can get just the parts you need. Whatever you spend on those gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.
- If someone else in your campaign owns that content, then anyone with a Master Tier subscription can enable Content Sharing for that group. You would then be able to use everyone else’s purchased game content within that campaign.
I made a Homebrew subclass and I'd like to publish it but I'm getting this message.
This Subclass cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons:
This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass.
Am I able to set up a subclass to just use specific schools from a spell list like the arcane trickster does instead of listing specific spells? Right now I listed the spells and I'm having some issues.
If that’s what an official subclass does, it should be doable for homebrew. They use the same system for both.
You can make a homebrew copy of Arcane Trickster if you want to see exactly how it was set up.
I attempted that and for some reason there isn't anything in the homebrew copy that defines the spell list.
Yeah. when I make a copy it's missing the spell list. Let me check eldritch knight has a same issue.
Yeah. Same issue. the spell list is just missing. I can add all of spell list, but I can't seem to figure out how to add just specific schools.
i just bought yuang ti purebloods and power armor and they both dont show up
For the Yuan-ti Pureblood, that'll be a monster, the race is no longer available (the Yuan-ti option is however)
For Power Armor, you'll need to enable non-core content
bruh so i wasted my money sadge
is the normal yuan ti have the same abilites
@modest pelican
One is a monster, the other is a race, so no
dam
what would be the best hexblade race
With Tasha's? All of them.
One of the Tiefling Variants gets a couple smite spells as it's racial spells. might be a good choice.
Half-elves also make good warlocks.
what one would u recommend
this channel is for help with the D&D Beyond Website and services. You better take that discusion to #character-discussion ;)
I'm having issues creating an encounter for my campaign. I have 5 PCs active in the campaign, but when I select that campaign in the encounter builder, only 4 show up. I've deactivated and reactivated the missing character and switched back and fort between campaigns in the encounter builder, but no luck. Has anyone run across this before?
If the character is set to private, this can sometimes prevent it from registering in the campaign
If it's set to private would I still be able to see it from the campaign page?
Yeah, as far as I know, it only affects the encounter builder
Alright, I will have him take a look, thanks
Hi, just cleared cache and checked, still encountering the same issue. Interestingly, when I used mobile data on my phone instead of our home wifi, I was able to use it without issue. It may very well be in issue with my internet connection and how it interacts with certain devices in my home 🤷♀️
How do I add the manoeuvre from the Superior Technique fighting style? I've taken the fighting style, but it doesn't seem like I have the option to select which technique I want.
There isn’t an option to select one at this time.
Fighting Style - Superior Technique. Not functional. We don't currently have a sensible way of implementing the selection of maneuvers that wouldn't cause characters to become broken in the future. We're working on a solution for this known issue.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/87774-tashas-cauldron-of-everything-issues-and-support
Depending on which maneuver you were looking to add, you might be able to do it directly on the character sheet as a custom action.
Or create a homebrew copy of that feat and add it in manually.
Got it, thank you
you can also just take the martial adept feat and leave one maneuver choice open
anyone know why im getting this despite having the ability on my sheet
Is there a checkmark next to either of the Warlock subclasses on this page?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/xanathars-guide-to-everything
Cool
If you go to this page, does it say your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
And on this page, does it show the Discord account Zerix#7704? Same numbers and everything?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
@uneven lantern yea
It seems like you’ve got everything set up correctly. I’ve reached out to the Avrae team to have them check some stuff. I’ll let you know when I hear back.
Hey, I think there might be a bug lol
This was just rolled by one of my players, for context!
(I genuinely think there's a bug, not trying to show off btw.)
@uneven lantern ty
seems to be something fishy those odds are insane
The odds of getting six 18s, even assuming you’re using 4d6 drop lowest, are roughly one in one hundred billion. It’s very unlikely that anyone has ever legitimately rolled that high on character stats.
so 5 18s and a 17 is around the same
He isn't cheating, he showed us he actually rolled the stats multiple times so they seem to be a bug. Specially due to it all being 6s.
Does he get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
u could still run something that increases ur odds
i belive i saw a extension that does it but if u really think its legit u could make it so his character is some sort of demi god and he does not yet know
@hard lion
Not sure, I should ask him
I know that he isn't, I can vouch for that. But thanks for letting me know.
oof
well at that rate narrative wise u can make him something special cause not even someone like batman could expert in everything
Nah, I'm not allowing it and he doesn't want it either. He'll roll with physical dice. I sent this to show the bug, not the "luck" or find a solution. I'll stop replying so I don't clog the chat.
aight nw
Nope, he doens't have access to other devices
How many players can be in a campaign?
Thanks!
How do I acces ua content?
You can use the homebrew system to add it. (For private use only, though; please don’t publish it.)
Ok
I had a question about the master tier subscription, if the subscription ends after a character is create, and the person that owns that character does not own the source material from that book say XGtE hexblade, can they still level that character up even if the subscription that is sharing that content is gone?
Yep, the subclass will be linked to the character, including all options. However, nothing more will be shared with a subscription
I need some help with the Homebrew Feat builder.
I’m trying to buff martials in a campaign by giving them Martial Adept, but in a way that gives more Dice and Maneuvers over time (aka proficiency based). I figured out the additional Dice by using the Limited Use data. But how can I grant additional level-based Maneuvers?
Can someone tell me why, as a DM, I would want to share the adventure book with my players in a campaign? Wouldn't they be able to see all of the DM-private information?
Possibly so they have access to magic items specific to that campaign? As a player I don't snoop through the adventure book I am being DM'd through.
Once Content Sharing is enabled for a campaign, you should see a Content Management button at the top of your campaign page. You can disable any books you want there to prevent them from reading the book. (They’ll still be able to use shared character options from that book, like magic items.)
Look for a field under Basic Information called “Total Number of Feat Options User Can Select”. You can use that to increase the number they choose, but it’s not possible to limit that by level (at least, not in a feat).
So I need to manually make multiple for different level ranges, and can’t say something like “2+Proficiency/2”?
Correct. You can set it per level for races and subclasses, but not for feats.
I have a question about a feature that I think is broken on the DDB site. Is this a good place to ask it?
Sure is!
So I am trying to add abilities like say Underwater Breathing to a racial sub-class .... how do I do that?
You mean a subrace, right?
You'd just put it in as text. There's no mechanical dropdown or selection for underwater breathing, it's just having something that says you do.
Is there any way to have the PDF of a character sheet reflect the choices beyond lvl 1? my character is a lvl 3 bard but it keeps reflecting information for lvl 1
What information specifically? Can you share a link to the character?
The pdf caches - it wasnt really designed to be generated constantly. Clear the browsers cache and the next pdf you generate for the character will be an updated one.
is there a way to change the damage done by unearned strike damage with homebrew (am trying to fix monk with a homebrew sub class and i was wondering if anyone new how to do that)
think you have to do a custom action, really.
uhh... one sec, lemme find that lil "tutorial"
here it is.
from like, here down has a tutorial on how to adjust the unarmed strike damage basically @proud forge
?
sigh #ddb-support message read these messages, that'll show you how to adjust the unarmed strike damage.
since the changes to unarmed strikes are a base class feature (which cannot be modified at this time), this'll be the way you do it on the sheets instead.
they should change that
Is there a way to cast mage armor on yourself or do I just have to manually edit my AC?
temporary affects aren't tracked by the sheet (yet), so a manual edit has to be done
...opens the app to find out
hm. apparently not. could always make a magic item to toggle the effect on and off.
dang
mildly annoying but luckily my build has at-will mage armor, so it's assumed it'll always be on and I only need to edit it once
heh, that's fair
Change it on the sheet directly then - use the website, not the app (as you can make those edits via the character sheet
clearing the cache worked. Thanks
anyone around that can help? I'm trying to build a hexblade warlock character on dndbeyond but was told I need purchase Xanathars, was also told I can purchase single subclasses?
edit: Found it!
is it possible to make the dice rolling speed different?
i'm not going to keep my phone verified for privacy reasons, i only wanted to ask this one thing and i'm gone
edit: nope, i'd still need phone verification if i want to be able to type @modest pelican
Go to the book Xanathar's Guide to Everything in the marketplace and scroll down, there's an option to purchase individual subclasses
thanks! while I have your attention here. Is it possible to add the soulknife subclass as well? I'm looking for that one too
No, dice speed can't be changed
Also phone verification is only needed for joining the server. Removing your linked phone number doesn't mean you need to leave
Also I don't think discord is a privacy risk
Yes, same method just different book (Tasha's Cauldron of Everything)
thanks a bunch! you're the best ❤️
how do I change the check ect instead of my rolls saying custom roll
Can you explain the problem a little more?
so yknow when you roll ect for me I can only do "custom: roll"
not like roll for initiative
ect
@uneven lantern
So you click to roll initiative, and it shows as “Custom Roll” in the Game Log?
no
I mean like I dont know how to change the roll
so like my friends can do investigation checks and all that
but I dont know how to do that
What happens when you click the number next to Investigation?
Does it roll? Does it show as a custom roll? Does it not do anything?
wait
huh
im using a ipad since I have a ipad and phone
and like
I dont know how to roll certain checks ect
i dont need help well I do but its not like a issue
What happens when you click the number next to Investigation?
wheres that...?
In the Skills section on your character sheet.
Are you not sure where to find the Skills section on your character sheet? Is that the issue?
kind of
Are you using the website or the mobile app?
both
You should be able to just swipe left or right to move between sections in either one.
Alternatively, you can hit the menu button in the bottom right corner on the site to jump straight to a specific section.
Or the same symbol here in the app, closer to the top.
My DM gave my character (Sorcerer - Shadow Magic) a list of spells for level 1-5 that are always prepared, similar to subclasses for other classes. How can I add those spells in DDB?
For example, 1st level I get False Life and Cause Fear but I can't add them because I've already selected 2 spells for first level, which is the normal limit
I would suggest making a homebrew copy of that subclass and adding them there.
Add a Class Feature to it, then “Add a Spell” inside that.
Thanks
You'll want to "Add a Spell" for each one separately. Don't try to put them all in the same one, or it will prompt you to choose between them.
The add subclass interface is beyond me unfortunately .. I'll figure something out. I do appreciate the advice though
Need help
for whatever reason the "language" choice from my race isn't showing up in character creation
Made a HB race for this server's world but I am stuck on that
Should I send a link to the race?
A screenshot of where you set up the language would be better.
(Other users can't see your homebrew unless it's published, and you shouldn't publish it if it isn't finished, playtested, and working as intended.)
You probably need to uncheck "Hide in Builder", in that first screenshot.
Just note that it can sometimes take up to 15 minutes for homebrew edits to show up on the character sheet.
How much does beyond automate the gunslinger subclass?
The stuff with misfires and whatnot is confusing
What time does Spelljammer drop? 12am EST? Or is it the west coast time zone.
When it is available, we will announce
👍
Sweet thanks.
I'm stuck at a late shift at work my saving grace was spelljammer dropping 🤣
I'm not a night person. So I'm dying lol
I've been wanting to ask that too, just wasn't sure where was appropriate
Thanks for working on getting it available! We appreciate it 😊
Lol I get into the Index and the poster map of Spelljamme but every other side is 404. seems like the servers are being tackled quite good xD
That would be because we haven't given the green light for release yet. We will advise when it is ready. Every book release we do say that there is a release process, it isn't instant (although i can imagine a lot of the team would love it to be)
Think they’re still working on implementing it all! Sorce/Joel said they’ll let us know
Oh he responded himself while I was typing my bad hahah
oh... never happened before when I had access so I assumed it was the server that got tackled by too many people checking it ^^"
I was thinking this too tbh so I’m glad to have some answers at least. Ugh I’m so hyped I just want it now 😅
Entirely unrelated issue, my apologies for butting in. My character has two fighting styles active when they should only have one (from Paladin class) and I can't seem to resolve the issue itself. Screenshot and sheet itself.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/81140398
Edit the character, and on the class page where you select the Dueling fighting style, change it to the top option (-Choose an option-).
You should see it then jump to Defense. Then change back to the top option again. And then select the fighting style you are after. it looks like it might have cached.
Yep, did just now and that worked. Thanks Sorce!
Welcome to SpaceSpelljammer!
Spelljammer: Adventures in Space has been released, and can be accessed via the Sources menu on the website. Please note that it will take some extra time (generally 24 hours or so) before Spelljammer: Adventures in Space is available on the mobile app.
One special call out from the Support Thread below:
As they're technically 3 different sources (but all tied together in a single Spelljammer package) - we've taken special considerations for how you can navigate through each book. When you open Spelljammer: Adventures in Space, you will see a rather large Table of Contents.
SAiS: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/sais
While this "Mega-ToC" will contain the Table of Contents for each book on a single page, you also have the option of clicking one of those buttons. When you do, you will be brought to a Table of Contents specific to that book:
If you discover any issues/typos regarding this new book, please report via the SPELLJAMMER: ADVENTURES in SPACE - Issues and Support thread (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/149596-spelljammer-adventures-in-space-issues-and-support)
@final trellis ...I still seem to be having a problem accessing the book. I've checked entitlements, logged out, logged in, refreshed.
Checking - two secs
Yeah mine as well but I'm sure its just taking a bit to load
Same, and as an aside, what happened to the drop down quick menu with regards to sourcebooks and adventures? Is there a way to not have it select Featured stuff and just have all links available at all times?
I can see table of contents, but still get 404 errors on everything. I've logged out and in a couple of times.
Yeah I'm getting 404 off this link for example https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/sais/aag/vast-oceans-of-adventure
Yeah, the table of contents is functional but every page you attempt to access is 404
Artwork is available
Content in character builder as well
I can access race details via the character creation
Please hold one moment whislt we press a few more buttons... (Boo may have got really excited and pushed some things when not looking)
yeah the whole book links to 404 pages
as stated above, the book is still being activated. It will be here soon
Unfortunately, no ETA yet everyone, but the compendium pages are being worked upon. As soon as we have everything working we will advise.
I have all night, Sorce. grin
Honestly what i have now is enough to get me through for awhile 🙂 loving it
I'm excited that there are new spells too!
I’ve been up for 25 hours so far because of work and our D&D session today, who needs sleep. I’ve got caffeine and a dream to use till release 🥲
You can look through the monster pages for it currently.
And the Vehicles! (https://www.dndbeyond.com/vehicles)
uff.. not for me.. at least not from the book directly ^^"
Bless you. This is what I needed to check out
Yes I know yall are working on it I have time 😄
You can use the Monster Search Listing - https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters - filter by Source
That's source, not Sorce ;)
2 is better than 0 I will take it!
Are there 2? I just know that the page exists
Yes Air Bubble and Create Spelljammer Helm
Cool!
Oooh, thanks 🙂
Vehicles still doesn't actually let you display the details of said vehicle btw
what if I filter by sauce
Yep. and 4 new magic items.
It's alive!
Neut, maybe you should look again (I'd hope you arent last, im using your account as a testing one to check!)
I'm waiting some additional testing and confirmation before I can give the full green light that the issue is resolved. 🤞
Alright - confirmation and the update deploy is done. Based on testing and confirmations Spelljammer: Adventures in Space has been released (and no longer 404s!). Go enjoy Wildspace, roll lots of Nat 20s, and dont forget to include Boo when you are adventuring!
Thanks for the update, hopefully it will populate to what Im seeing in the android app overnight
App release is always later (as called out in the Support thread).
thanks, I missedthat
You want #ddb-avrae-help
(Sorry bout that)
So for the psurlon when i look at them in the search bar, the images show the leader being clothless while the norma one having clothes? Is that supposed to be the case?
The art is subtly different
the psurlon and psurlon leader both have very similar looking faces
Zoom
Enhance
Enhance
Enhance
No i mean when they are clicked on, the leader takes you to a naked one and the normal one takes you to a clothed one
That's correct
If you look at the description, psurlon leaders have two heads, one at each end
The unclothed art shows that
Ah makes sense
One out of every hundred psurlons is a mutant with two heads, one at each end of its body, and a superior intellect.
I hate it
Not currently, but there are plans to make it personalizable in the future.
While this alleviates the immediate problems, we do not consider it a long-term solution. We will continue exploring ways to make navigating our site easier and hope to give y'all the ability to personalize that experience in the future. For now, this change will allow us to make sure we can always keep our latest content where it's easiest to find - so keep an eye out for New! labels which will be presented in yellow text.

i'm having trouble with buying things on dndbeyond
i try to pay with paypal but it always says an error has occurred when i press the pay button after connecting to paypal
and it's not on the paypal side since i can use it to buy things elsewhere
Did it give any kind of error code?
Do you get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
i get the same issue on different google accounts
let me pull up the error message real quick
and subscriptions are different
at first they work
but after a while the subscription doesn't exist
and i don't get charged
this is all it says
Different Google accounts in the same browser?
It may be that there's a browser extension or something interfering. Trying it in another browser or on another device will help determine if that's the case.
if I buy the Spelljammer stuff right now on Beyond, will I still get all those preorder frames and sheet backgrounds?
No, those are only if you pre-ordered
on the opera browser it gives the same error
let me try logging in on the website via phone
Okay, wasnt sure how Beyond store handled it. Usually preorder stuff is still available on day of release in other media shops. Thanks
I’d suggest opening a support ticket, then. Hopefully they can peek under the hood and get more information about that error.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
i just checked my email and this email pops up after every confirmation email
also how do i open a ticket?
Follow the link spam provided
it just leads me to this
Ah, looks like it might be the old link
here's the new one

I am trying to make a homebrew (sub)class with an unarmored AC of 13+dex. How do I do so in DDB? Is it the Set -> Minimum Base Armor?
Type: Set
Subtype: Unarmored Armor Class
Fixed Value: 3
(It does 10+Dex automatically. You just need to add the three.)
anyone know why i can't select resilient as a feat for my paladin?
Do you own the feat or have access to it through content sharing?
Do you meet the requirements for the feat (assuming it has any)?
sorted, couldnt select it when creating character. had to manage feats on character sheet
it's been three hours and nobody's responded 😭
Tickets are answered in the order they're received, but they're all answered in time.
alright
what do i do if i want to get the artificer class without buying the whole tasha book
can i just get a subclass and i also get the class
one subclass gets you the base class
thanks
Hello everybody! I would like to know how I can see which sourcebooks are available in the official Portuguese translation
On D&D Beyond, none currently
D&D Beyond only offers the compendium of the Player's Handbook in non-english languages, specifically Italian, as part research into the demand for such an option
Do you know if the new sourcebooks will come with translations for languages other than English outside of D&D Beyond? Or is this language adaptation something that takes time after a release?
D&D Beyond currently has no publicly announced plans to support other languages, either for existing or upcoming sourcebooks
There's a thread here where you can add feedback about multi-lanugage support:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/47203-translating-d-d-beyond-feedback
Is there a way to disable my players from accessing boos astral menagerie and LoX without disabling the access to AAG?
so i wanna create my d&d game book and idk how to start, would someone reccommend a umm..... tutorial or a book that is abt how to create d&d books bruh
Not currently, no
@weary bison Please do not ping random people
Also this channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond tools, site, and services. You want #dm-discussion
I just bought the new spell jammer books and the text is white on a white background other books appear to be doing the same thing and I am unable to read the page without using my mouse to highlight everything does anyone know how to fix this issue and make it so it is readable?
Have you tried clearing your cache?
Alternatively, are you running any extensions? Can you try disabling those
Google "How do I clear my cache on [BROWSER]" where [BROWSER] is whatever you're using
it varies from browser to browser
It still remained white on white
Can you link me to an affected page?
here is what mine looks like
You're using an extension; specifically one that ads a 'dark mode'
That's likely what's breaking the site
I only have an ad blocker as far as I know
Thats my windows setting making it black, but changing that didnt change the text color
Well that's still the most likely cause as the site does not have dynamic styling like that
The side menu is still black (it should not be), therefore something is still modifying the site
im trying to add a homebrew flail that is 1d8 bludgeniong its 200/500 feet range how would i add the range?
?
how do i add propertys
trying to add this second one
Hey folks, just wondering if D&D Beyond character sheets have toggleable functionality for the following features:
-5/+10 for Sharpshooter.
Integrating the Piercer feat's extra dice roll on a critical hit.
Choosing to reroll a die with the piercer feat.
Automatically rolling damage on an attack?
in order:
The dice aren't smart enough for that, do it manually.
The dice aren't smart enough for that, do it manually.
The dice aren't smart enough for that, do it manually.
But what if you missed? No point in rolling damage then.
The dice eventually will be smart enough to do the first three, presumably.
but as of right now, they are not.
Thanks. For the last point, sometimes it's easier to just roll damage at the same time for expedience, especially at high levels of play.
also apologies if it sounds meanspirited. I was trying to be funny in an effort to elevate my own mood
o7
Neut is right that there is a lot of dice functionality planned, but it requires a lot of proceeding work in order to work in a way that is intuitive, accessible, and reliable
Half the time I just roll physical dice anyway, but I'll keep an eye out for any potential changes down the road.
roll my physical dice when playing in person, and digital dice over voice, so I feel ya
And at any rate I've set up a manual Sharpshooter -5/+10 on the character sheet so that works out.
Yeah. Playing on PC I have access to Beyond20 which has some useful functionality, and Roll20/Fantasy Grounds have functionality of their own, but my aim is to centralise as much as I can in the one area.
Hey so on dnd beyond character sheet it doesnt show - the prompt for bladesinger being activelike its temporay effects is their gonna be an update to add this?
Temporary effects are not currently supported, but there are plans to support them eventually
@tepid gust Davyd's suggestion was in response to Content Sharing. An account with a Master Tier subscription can enable Content Sharing for up to five campaigns.
However, anyone with that subscription can enable Content Sharing for a campaign -- it doesn't have to be the DM or the person that owns the content.
And once it's enabled, everyone's purchased game content gets shared with the whole group.
Hence, if you've already activated Content Sharing for five campaigns and need more, another account can enable it and your original purchases will still get shared.
Yes, that i've seen. The challenge seems to be not knowing who's going to actually show up and shuffling players around so new players can create characters with all shared content
That's where Deactivating players might help you.
On the campaign page, you should see an option to Deactivate a character that hasn't shown up. They'll be moved to a separate section on the page and won't count toward your player limit, letting you add anyone new.
That player won't have access to the shared content while they're deactivated, but when they return, you can Activate them again.
As long as the total number of activate players is 12 or less, you should be fine.
Yes, I have been using that, I have a core group that usually shows up and a dozen or so players that show up randomly
(If it's more, there's no way around it -- you'll need a second campaign.)
With the encounter builder can I pull characters in from 2 campaigns?
I don't believe so.
You could add a stand-in for them, just a generic "Player" with the same level.
thanks
Hopefully someone on this discord channel is able to help out. I've purchased Tasha's Cauldron of Everything on D&DB. When I'm trying to create my Ranger Beastmaster it shows 'Beastmaster (adapted)' and I'm able to choose between all the optional class features from TCoE except for the primal companion... does anyone know what to do here?
Beastmaster (adapted) sounds like a homebrew class
The option should appear under Optional Feature Manager as long as you've got the official Beast Master subclass selected.
So I'll need both the PHB and TCoE to use the beastmaster subclass?
You can buy the subclass by itself, if that's all you need. (Whatever you spend gets credited toward the remaining cost of the book itself, too.)
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/players-handbook
Ah perfect, thank you!
Or if "Beastmaster (adapted)" is your own homebrew creation, you can add the TCOE features in yourself.
How do I add a +3 bonus to damage and attack rolls of a ranged HB item?
If we have a question about ddb this is the right place to ask it?
I'm trying to use the Astral Drifter background, but I can't find where you pick the spells from the Divine Contact/Magic Initiate feat.
Also there don't seem to be any Personal Characteristic choices.
You can make a homebrew copy of any existing +3 weapon if you want to see how they were set up.
But I think it’s a Modifier with Type: Set, Subtype: Magic, Fixed Value: 3.
Did you add Magic Initiate on your sheet, under Manage Feats? That’s the same place you’d make any choices for the feat.
And the personality traits match what’s in the book — it’s just that the book doesn’t list any personality traits.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/sais/aag/character-options#Backgrounds
The backgrounds presented in Astral Adventurer's Guide grants you a Feat upon taking the selected Background. While the automation of this feature isn't currently supported, you can manually add the relevant feat from your background via the Features & Traits section in the Character Sheet, then clicking on "Manage Feats". Please reference the .gif below.

Thanks
Is "The White Dragons Hunt" available in anything other than article form?
Link for reference
I want to run this as a dream sequence in Icespire Peak
That one's an article only.
(You can find more like it here, if you're interested.)
https://www.dndbeyond.com/tag/free-adventure
That's at least a good way to filter it!
Appreciate you being so helpful ❤️
That's much more efficient than my weird brain trying to pull keywords out of the aether and Google Fu it onto my phone.
Magic isn't an available subtype
Oh wait the type is bonus not set
Ah! Sorry.
Like I said, the best way to find answers to these is to make a homebrew copy of the official content -- not to trust my memory. 😅
Happy to help! For future reference, you can find groupings like those by clicking any of the Tags at the bottom of an article. In this case, I just clicked the "Free Adventures" tag.
Any chance someone's been keeping a list of tags 🤣
Excuse me? I'm having trouble with the homebrew system. I'm trying to put in a feature that adds actions as a subclass but it won't appear on the character sheet despite it having everything listed properly already and having other class features appearing.
Is there anyone who is experienced with how the homebrew thing works who can give me some advice on how to fix it?
Were the actions there to begin with, or did you add them after? It can sometimes take up to 15 minutes for homebrew edits to show up on your character sheet.
been a few days
the feature is called 'enhanced channel divinity" (cause I didn't want to get rid of the channel divinity thing entirely) it was meant to add actions that could have channel divinity expended on, and I just wanted the abilities listed on the sheet.
character is the correct level
Is the whole feature missing, or just the action?
Can you share a link to that character?
whole feature.
I'll try
For that feature, what did you select for Feature Type? “Hide in Sheet” isn’t checked, is it?
Enhanced Channel Divinity, or Expanded?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2UyuHLUuCjxeE1lanpKUmVmZTQ/view?resourcekey=0-Y_mv5prajFKcVA5wdKu3SA <was trying to basically make this for personal use
You asked for help, so the problem fixed itself. That’s the way it always goes. 😂
You do good work tunaspam ❤️❤️ bless you.
Aww, thanks!
Troubleshooting a homebrew spell and the FAQ did not resolve my issue unfortunately. I created two spells specifically for a Forge Cleric. The first is automatically prepared as expected on the PC's character sheet. The second spell is not automatically prepared and I'm confused as to why. Anyone have any thoughts as to why this anomaly is occurring? These spells are not published publicly if that matters
I did a little more testing and I'm even more confused haha 😅 . If added to a Life Cleric, the spell is always prepared.
If added to a Forge Cleric, the spell must be prepared. Is there a hidden limit to how many spells can be "always prepared" per subclass?
