Items marked as "Not for sale" can come from a lot of sources (DIYs, events, special characters, etc), but most of the time, yes, those aren't available from the shops (Nook's Cranny or Able Sisters)

Hello everyone! My wife just started a new island bc she wanted to get a new layout and have a certain theme for her villagers. Today, she put down the first three plots she received from Tom Nook and built all of the furniture for them. For some reason, the plots already say sold. She did not time travel or cross over into the next day. Has anyone else experienced/seen this happen before?

Unfortunately that's what happens with the plots, they get sold as soon as the furniture requirements are fulfilled

nearly any flower can breed (exception is the lily of the valley), so random flowers would work and you can use them if you'd like. if you're looking to breed for a specific color however, i wouldn't advise using random flowers since you most likely won't know what genotype it is and that would affect what flowers could result from using it. it's recommended to use flowers that you know grew from planting seeds since you can tell what genotype it is and follow a breeding path to get a specific flower ^^

it'll save you a lot of time and trouble to start fresh by planting seeds and going from there

You should be able to get all the flower species from Nook's Cranny, when the shop is upgraded they will always sell seeds for your native flower + seeds of 2 other random flower species that are currently in season. Moreover when Leif visits he will sell 2 additional flower species that are not currently in season! It should be possible for you to get all of the flower types without trading, but it might take some time.

all of the sharks have a certain number of catches you need to get before they can spawn, the highest number for a shark is 50, if you're in southern hemisphere then they should be spawning you might just need to wait for them to appear tho
