Frequently Asked Questions Addenum
last updated april 22, 2020

How are villagers generated (on mystery islands, in campsites, etc)?

The game rolls first for the species of the villager, then rolls for the villager within that species.
This means villagers that belong to species with fewer members are more common encounters than villagers with more species. For example, you have a 0.92% chance to encounter Marina, while you only have a 0.12% chance to encounter Raymond.

How do I get the DAL awards?

By increasing your “present counter” value.
The count increases by 3 after visiting another player and can increase by visiting a mystery tour or Harv’s island for a maximum of 4 points per day. To elaborate, you would need to visit a player 3 times and go on a tour or fly to Harv's island once to get all 4 points for one day.

Your counter needs to be 5, 15, 30, 50, 75, 100, 130, 160, 200, 250, and 300 to unlock the 11 awards.

Breakpoint Item ID Item
-----------------------------
5 12125 DAL tee
15 12128 DAL eye mask
30 12130 DAL slippers
50 12139 DAL mug
75 12129 DAL sunglasses
100 12126 DAL apron
130 12132 DAL cap
160 9560 DAL umbrella
200 12131 DAL backpack
250 12127 DAL pilot jacket
300 12140 DAL model plane

Is this character/item/mechanic in the game?

The answer is no. Unless a recent update leaves additional content in the game that can be datamined, we have no idea what mechanics are planned for the game. If important mechanics are revealed via datamining, you’ll hear about it here.

Villager Moveout information (based off datamining from Ninji: https://twitter.com/_Ninji/status/1265341727310860290):

For Thought-Bubble Moveouts:
+- You must have at least 6 villagers for one to ask to move
+- Nobody will ask to move out 5 days after you've told someone "no"
+- After someone has moved out, there's a 15-day cooldown where nobody can ask
+- Villagers are excluded from asking if:
‣ their birthday is in the next 7 days;
‣ their house is being moved;
‣ they were picked the most recent time and told to stay; or
‣ they were the most recent villager to move in

The chances of a villager asking to move out increases slightly each day, until one asks to move out. Answering yes or no to this question resets the chance to the default. This boost caps after 30 days.

Friendship affects the chances for a villager to ask to move out, with a villager with a higher friendship having a noticeably lower chance of asking to move compared to villagers with low friendship - a max friendship villager is 1/10 as likely to ask to move out compared to a 0 friendship villager. Having extra residents on the island reduces this effect, unless they are also building up friendship with your villagers.

Relative Weights for Villagers Asking to Move Out
This assumes you are the only person on the island.

Friendship | Chance to Move
------------------------------------
0 (Minimum) | 10x
25 (Newly moved in) | 9x
30 (Can Gift) | 9x
60 (Favour Level 3)| 8x
100 (Favour Level 4)| 6.6x
150 (Favour Level 5)| 5x
200 (Favour Level 6)| 3x
255 (Max) | 1x

Campsite
For moveouts via campsite, villagers in boxes moving in are excluded. Villagers that have their house scheduled for moving are also excluded. Each villager is weighted equally to be chosen.

Weather Prediction Tool (by Ninji)

All weather patterns (including meteor showers) are controlled by a seed which was generated when your island was created.

With this tool you can determine the seed which is used to calculate the weather patterns on your island. By filling in various bits of weather data from your island, it can work out what your seed is, which can then be used to display the full weather for every day on your island, as well as the times (to the second) of every shooting star.

Follow the instructions on the Seed tab, adding as much data as you can. The tool will then calculate all potential matching seeds from the given data. Once you've provided enough data, it will be able to give you a single value, which is the one that is used for your Island's weather.

🐟 Interactable Spawn Rate Spreadsheets for Water Creatures (Fish/Seafood) 🐙

I appreciated https://tinyurl.com/acnh-sheet's comprehensive guide to creature spawn rates, but one thing that struck me was they aren't consistent and vary (for example, a spawn rate of 3-10).
So I took it upon myself to create spreadsheets that are more specific about these varying spawn rates and list them for each creature during each month and specific time of day. Spawn rate data is taken directly rates from .csv datamines. All spreadsheets also include the Southern Hemisphere.

Any filter applied will adjust the percentages. This means if it isn’t raining on your island, you can filter that, and it will adjust the remaining percentages of what is available without the coelacanth. Or if you don’t have a pond or clifftop river on your island, you can filter that out and it will adjust the remaining percentages of what’s available without those spawn locations. I believe you must create a copy before being able to apply any filters.

Cool things you can do with this resource:

  • Determine the absolute best time of day and year to catch a particular fish/sea creature
  • Filter by size if you’re only bothering to catch fish of a certain size
  • Adjust according to your island’s needs or whatever you want to focus on

Sea Fish Spawn Rates: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1amxOHSFBH0l4-MvhFn5xtW0-OldfvXbj9yxJqxxwLkg/
River Fish Spawn Rates: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vvSqJfNsQQ2zwq3UDB_n1hDJUdbyFHfXPvVBqaUzOvE/
Seafood Spawn Rates: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hsJabXcESLT2gxYK2TgcjJy6Onrvwn3R5WJ6IDN5XsM/

I don't have a sheet for insects yet (well I do, if you check under the InfoCredit sheets there's a link to it) but there's a lot of errors in oversight on my part that would take a very long time to fix. Insect spawns work differently than fish and sea creatures, so unlike the sea/river/ocean creatures, they won't be correct.
