so for tinkering, you put a stat from a piece of gear into the library (destroys it, save the stat), and you can use that stat to slap it on something else of the same gear category

lets say i have a chest with 10% haz protection, i put it through tinker and grab the stat into the library

then i can save that stat to put it on a different chest piece to replace it with a different stat

however, i cannot modify any other stat except the same part that was modified

Pick a gear set you enjoy and optimize it to your liking (ie. If you like pumping out damage but want lots of armor, go for heartbreaker set). You can farm any gear by targeting loot like on countdown or summit. Once you find the build you enjoy, expertise it and stack more armor or damage , etc to that build. Hope this helps
