If you have >= 2 core boons that grant lasting statuses you can get it pretty reliably. The thing with Priv Stats is that you need to be more intentional about building your run to take advantage of it

If you know what you want, And it involves a good way to get 2 statuses

like say Chiron bow, the usual playstyle is to alternate the attack and special, so you have 2 methods to hit the opponent. So if you get a lasting status on both attack and special (say Aphrodite attack, Dionysus special), you can get the PS buff easily

but then things can happen, say you start Aphrodite and get her attack, but then get Artemis for special. it's still a good build, since now you can get Heart Rend, but Artemis special doesn't apply status on its own. So you now either need to find a status on your cast and dash, or waste the Priv Status

While Family Favorite is like, you're basically guaranteed like 15-20% even with bad boon luck (2 regulars + Hermes)

There are also some weapons that only use 1 means of damage output. Like Zag shield, you put Ares/Aphrodite/Artemis on regular attack and just spam that. if you're starting out (or near endgame) and get Athena's dash for safety, then you only have 1 reliable status, and are better off taking FF

I've never used zag shield before, but it doesn't sound that impressive, chaos shield requires high levels, and you don't have hidden aspect of the shield yet.

||Guan Yu likes levels so you reduce that penalty as much as possible since it's a bit hard to play with it if you've just got the aspect, Guan Yu's strong suit is the Special mainly, it has no recall and a big aoe aswell as more base damage than other Spear Specials, but you also really need Charged Skewer (hammer) to make it shine, you can go for a beefy Special like Aphro or Artemis and snipe stuff away with some dash strikes here and there, you want to be doing Special > x2 Dash strikes usually, but you can refrain from dash striking in sticky situations just to avoid getting hit because it can get risky, another popular build is Merciful End, slightly less hammer reliant but it still needs it, overall Guan Yu has a safe playstyle but gets quite punishing if you do actually make some big mistakes, as long as you're not on really high heat it should be okay for the most part||

I've used the spear more than all the weapons combined, and all I can is...dash-strikes maximise your damage output, but that means constantly dodging while attacking at the same time. I suppose that is a pretty aggressive playstyle since you always want to have your target in range of your spear.

Then again, isn't that the same with all the melee weapons?

I will add that when I first started playing, hesitation around new enemy types was more likely to get Zag hurt due to projectiles and unexpected moves than overt aggression. So try experimenting perhaps?

it just comes down to skill level. if the player understands enemy attack patterns then they can keep attacking while staying safe from damage, wildly attacking will end up with you taking a lot of damage unless you have a great build for which experience is also a big factor.

1. I read that my ''core boon'' slots not being filled reduces my chance of getting duo/legendary boons (example: not having any dash boon will make the game keep throwing dash boons at me, thus lowering my chance of getting duo/legendary), is this true?

2. If the above is true and i take a cast boon, if i sell that cast boon later, will my chances of getting duo be reduced again?

That's true, the reason it's true is because Core Boons are also known as Priority boons so if you encounter a god (not your first) and you have empty core boons still, that god will offer atleast 1 core boon, and they have a high chance of offering more core boons, they also have a high chance of offering a status curse, such as Rupture Jolted Mark etc so grabbing those also helps with your Legendary/Duo odds, if you sell a core boon then it's back in the pool and gods have priority to offer it again so yes your chances will be reduced again, a lot of people take that first statement very badly and end up filling core boons that open up other duo boons with different gods so that's also very much worth noting, it should be more like
"Fill Core Boons that don't open up other unnecessary Duo boons to increase the odds of seeing the Duo that you want."

If you're looking for any specific Duo/Legendary, unlocking other Duo/Legendary boons from the same god(s) will hurt your chances to get the one you want a lot.

The locked heart indicates that you have to do their favor to unlock that heart, they can tell you about it in dialogue but sometimes you have to try stuff to figure it out, they're all on the wiki if you need some help

that’s why people use fast attacking weapons with ME, inflict a lot of doom quickly then ram into them with divine dash to trigger it
