i got a ton of ares and aphro boons and i was deliberately hunting for their duo
(i already had dire misfortune and the one that increases delay on doom, to stack damage sky high)
had to reroll 3 satyr tunnels to get apgro in the first 2 and she let me down
my last reroll in the last tunnel gave me ares and he gave me the duo xD

made hades look like a pushover with that combo

having the hammer upgrade where you shoot 5 specials instead of 1 also made things even spicier

(5) roll for legendary/duo for each remaining slot,
(6) roll for epic for each remaining slot,
(7) roll for rare for each remaining slot,
(8) fill all remaining slots with common,
(9) fill all remaining slots with whatever is available.

And the things MiKE mentioned all add +10% chance for step 5.

No mention of Merciful End, which is a strong build, but it's built to be played pretty aggressive anyway, which if you're just figuring out Guan Yu is probably not the best thing to do because you're not really allowed to make a lot of mistakes with the aspect if you play aggressive.

It's just if you play hyper-aggressive like in a speedrun, pretty much. Because playing careful is wasting time, so your movement gotta be precise with only half as much HP as with other aspects.

i have a similar feeling about aspect of gilgamesh rn

just feels sort of undertuned
and i got myself into a build where i was actually punished for using dash attack

so i had to play with an awful timing of just using regular attacks and then fashing xD

Guan Yu is still one of the best aspects for no-hit runs. Charged Skewer is just that good.

Pretty popular aspect for Pierced Butterfly runs, that's a fun combo. Not optimal, but fun.

And even without that, you can just hang back and throw your Special from far which does a lot of damage or just rely on the spin and pretty much keep your HP capped the whole time that way. Boss fights can be a little more tricky at first especially if you want to use the spin on them, but I feel like you can figure those out pretty quickly.

Anyway, Merciful End is definitely a powerful build on it. Reason I didn't mention it in the guide is just simply that there were like 1-3 Guan Yu speedruns with Merciful End at the time, and... that was it. I'd done no runs myself with it outside of that context. I'd seen zero runs with it outside of that context. And m pretty sure only one of those runs had a decent time. So recommending it in a guide would have been a little premature.

When you have the 'Heightened Security' heat on (just one level so +400% trap damage) and you take Athena's 'Sure Footing' boon (ex; common, +60% trap resistance), does it reduce the new total by 60%? (Making it like +180% damage from traps) or reduce just the base, so it's still +340%?

So if you're missing Kiss of Styx, you just gotta lose a DD in your runs and then check Wells of Charon.

hey what does naeglings board means for beowulf?

Naegling's Board is just the name of the weapon

It's basically telling you "this is a whole new weapon you're dealing with here"

Alters some pretty fundamental aspects of the weapon, like all secret aspects do

So, in the case of Beowulf, Naegling's Board has a slower, much stronger Attack, same deal with the special, and your Bull Rush charges slower, but you can load your Casts into it to make it more powerful

At the end of the charge, the loaded casts explode in an area instead of moving straight and getting stuck in enemies, and deal more damage than usual

Funnily enough, because of the pose Zagreus goes into when charging Bull Rush with this aspect, which doesn't actually have his shield held in front of him, I thought at first that you wouldn't be able to block anymore, but thankfully, you still can
