well, here's what I've observed from in game.
The rail seems to be pumped in order to reload, which I take to mean that it feeds from a reservoir of several enbloc-type magazines stored inside the gun that probably regenerate on their own and are ejected manually. After firing a grenade, the entire gun is folded open like a break-action shotgun so the breech of the grenade launcher can be loaded.

is there anywhere i can find some basic speedrunning tips for weapons other than eris? i picked up a few things like prioritize chaos/shops/events/minibosses over all normal rooms but not much past that

You can also look at the top 10 runs for any aspect and check their victory screens to get some idea for the build meta.
And also check what keepsake they started with.
Usually, there's 1-2 builds that are meta for an aspect.

Chiron in general is kinda slow. Like, you think it's fast when you're playing it.. but then you try another weapon aspect like Eris rail and it's like a revelation.

It's basically certain modifiers to how the run goes that make things more difficult and so the game becomes more challenging, Heat also allows you to earn bounties (Titan Blood, Ambrosia, Diamonds), up to 20 heat points with each weapon (not aspect)
You can add heat before you attempt to escape and whatever you added will take effect in that run, when you go back to the house you can modify things from the heat menu again

But the first win is really a big step, after that, winning became much more consistent for me, with experience and practice you'll just go through those heats naturally and eventually 8 heat would be easy, then 16 then 32 and so on..

yea same for me, if you manage to do the initial run you will probably beat it much faster the 2nd time and much easier
also there is no need to go for the heat levels right away imo... clear the game without punishment with other weapons first

I'd also recommend checking the top 10 runs on the speedrun leaderboard for whatever aspect you want to learn. Go to the victory screen and look at their builds, then see what keepsakes they used in Tartarus and in Asphodel.
