Going off of what we talked about in #h1-story-discussion, I do want to note that I am not defending modern portrayal of Hades: I do believe that how he is villainized is unfair and simplifies his character too much. But at the same time, I know that this just...how stories change over time. Not to mention that we don't really know the full extent of how Hades, let alone the entire pantheon, was viewed by the Ancient Greeks. I mean, it's not even fully accurate to say "Ancient Greece" because Greece as we know it didn't exist back then! Athens and Sparta were two different states with contrasting values!

So although I find Hades' to be annoying at best, I don't condemn it: it's human nature to change up stories. What do you think fanfiction is for, hehehe

It's also important to note that the Greek gods were much more human in that they had a whole slew of flaws, so to villainze a certain god is not completely farfetched at times. There are just sometimes when the gods just...want to mess with mortals, and even other gods. Often out of pettiness!

I used to hate it for that, but I appreciate it as a separate form of art. That's how I view most adaptations nowadays, since adaptations are genuinely hard to pull off: not everything is meant to be adapted into something else, and that can extend to myths. I love modern retellings not for their accuracy, but for their creativity. I mean, Hades in Hercules is a hilarious villain, as well as his henchmen. And don't even get me started on how much of a banger the music was.

Even in Supergiant Hades, Hades is portrayed as morally questionable, or at least a bad dad, and most people would argue that to be "inaccurate." Which is my case here: accuracy doesn't determine the value of an adaptation. What matters is how it revitalizes and brings it back to life.

Another example of a morally questionable/villainous Hades is Hadestown. Patrick Page's portrayal of a tired man hiding behind a strict persona is one of the most in-depth character portrayals I have ever seen, and it's beyond how Hades was described in original myth.

Not to mentioned "Hey Little Songbird" is one of my favorite songs from the musical

in the case of cyberpunk any playtesters on the ps4 would have known it didn't run well so it's likely cdpr's fault for releasing an unoptimized game on the system. according to one of my friends that played it on ps4 said that after the patches it ran completely fine so it's definitely cdpr's fault. they just released it too early.

I don't have a ton of energy right now, so just something short. Could probably type up more tomorrow.

Main, really important thing, is no two groups are exactly the same. So even if you see stuff online, that doesn't mean it's how your group will play.

Basic overview is it's a cooperative tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) generally in a fantasy or high fantasy setting. JoCat has some excellent crash course videos (JoCrap's guide to D&D) which explain races and gameplay and whatnot.

You play as a single character with a party of other adventurers, using ranging in size from 4-6 people (though I've seen everything from solo campaigns to a 12-person session).

Games will range in length, with individual sessions going from 3 hours as a general minimum, to 6-7 hours as a general maximum (though I've played in a 14 hour session before. Don't recommend).

Campaigns range from one-shots (single session adventures) to "one-shots" ("It was supposed to only take one session...") to longer campaigns, which can run anywhere from months to years.

Oh, other big thing. Game is coordinated by a DM (Dungeon Master) who describes the situations. You then decide how to respond, and the DM determines how that response affects the world, repeating.
