If they ask nicely enough I usually "trade" with them. Basically I trade my items for a trash item that they have, essentially a give away.
The items don't mean much to me but is valuable to them so why not.
I am not saying that this is what happening, but sharing my experience.

im doing a rate graph. i have my data as a behavior happened x times over a 15 minute period over 5 separate days. so the first day was 17 times over 15 minutes as a rate of the behavior happening every 1.13 minutes. and i have no idea how to turn this into a graph

Why not a line graph with your x-axis be day 1 to 5
