Video games are interactive TV, movies, and music. Damn straight you did literary analysis on them.

gloomy sequoia
#

It's so rare that games get to appear in literary analysis so I just had to use it

#

Plus the writing is incredible so it makes it easier for me!

I just forgot to write up the bibliography... how do you reference a game

The sheer power of a Red/Eurydice duet about losing a lover who tried to save them would be too much I think.

The Transistor art style is very art nouveau (Klimt!!) and art deco, I love it

#

Art Nouveau (; French: [aʁ nuvo]) is an international style of art, architecture, and applied art, especially the decorative arts, known in different languages by different names: Jugendstil in German, Stile Liberty in Italian, Modernisme català in Catalan, etc. In English it is also known as the Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style). Art Deco, sometimes referred to as Deco, is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. Art Deco influenced the design of buildings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, cars, movie theatres, trains, ocean liners, and everyday objects such as radios and vacuum cleaners. It took its name, short f...

All that early 20th century elegance

Mashed up with cyberpunk tropes

#

It's great

fresh rain
#

the game is barely on the cyberpunk style and more with elegance and fashion

latent badger

Yeah, they talked about how they wanted to bring in the opulence of the 20's and using the Gilded age for Cloudbank is a PERFECT metaphor

night salmon
#

And all you have to do is Google image search "70s fantasy art" to see exactly where Pyre gets its visual aesthetic and color scheme

latent badger
#

Legit thought that was the Blackwagon for a sec.

night salmon
#

It's a style as distinctive in its way as Art Deco was 🤣

#

Very busy, hyperdetailed, a bit grotesque, with extremely saturated colors and a lot of red and orange and green and brown.

#

Lots of dynamic motion, and a wild kitchen-sink approach to design. Talking dogs and beautiful harpies and giant horned demons and people in big swirly capes? Would have fit right in on the side of a psychedelic van.

#

(Their main departure from the style was making it more diverse and less sexualized, which I 100% support.)

#

(At least half the cast would have been wearing a lot less clothes, if Jen had stuck strictly to the classic style)

formal geyser
#

Looks at tizo: hmmm, how would he getl ess?

night salmon
#

Let's face it, as much as we'd all appreciate Hedwyn in a Conan the Barbarian loincloth, it wouldn't be very practical protective gear in the Downside. 😝

#

And the poor boy would be terribly embarrassed.

formal geyser
#

pam 👀

night salmon

I feel like Pam would relish getting to strut her stuff in a chainmail bikini, but it would probably make the rest of the Nightwings' heads explode. 😰

Hedwyn's got the bird hots too

latent badger
#

Yeah, but he's committed, so he's just like Wash... "Were I unwed, I would take you in a manly fashion, cause you're pretty."

#

I mean, it's all Jen's fault for making the Birds hot.

#

I took one look at the Harps and went, "Why are they fighting this race of really pretty bird people," and then Hedwin went "Why are we fighting this race of really pretty bird people?" and I was like... This boy. This boy get it.

formal geyser
#

Why are they fighting this race of pretty bird people? Because the bird people are way too pretty and they jelly

#

If you can't be happy for your flying bird gf just because you can't also fly, natural selection is coming for you.

#

And so am I.

formal geyser
#

Oh o, i dont crae about flying, im just jealous that im not hot enough to be pam hot

latent badger
#

I mean, fair, but why would you want to BE Pam Hot when you can Look at Pam hot?

#

Pam doesn't get to appreciate it the way the rest of the Nightwings can.

formal geyser
#

I would reather be pam hot and grow up in a community of all pam hots then look at one pam hot is all im saying

latent badger

I mean, fair.

#

I just don't understand jealous rage I guess.

#

I am not wired that way 😛

formal geyser

I mean, i wouldnt start a war over it, i would just look at the bird hots, but yeah

latent badger
#

Yeah, I don't know how you get to War. here specifically, but also in general, but that's a MUCH bigger topic lol

#

The eternal struggle of a SGG fan: Do I want to play Pyre, Recurse in Transistor, Run through Hell, or Rebuild the Bastion?

#

I can't do all 4 at once!

formal geyser
#

Might i suggest: Recursivly rebuidling basketball hell?

rain trellis

latent badger

I mean, isn't that just working on the NBA titles at EA?

lmao

latent badger

I decided on a Heightened Pyre playthrough, as my TN one is... not looking great, and I need some practice lol

rain trellis

i still need to buy pyre shadegrief

latent badger
#

It's very good.

formal geyser
#

lol

#

TN is hard

latent badger
#

Yeah, I finished my first playthrough and was like, "I Got this!" And The Downside was like, haha, no.

formal geyser
#

Downside, more liek broadsided

latent badger
#

I do kinda want to finish it with just getting destroyed every step of the way, but I also need a good playthrough at the same time, because I can't stand to see my BBs sad.

formal geyser
#

Dont let tizo down

latent badger
#

Re: the discussion in #pyre, but more about Bastion: It's one thing I love is the Vague and Evocative feel of SGG worlds. Like all they need to say is that this plant is called a Stabweed, and I know everything I need to about it.

formal geyser
#

its a weed that is sharp

#

And stabsinthe

#

made of stabweed

#

thats all thats needed to be said

latent badger
#

It's what I aspire to as a DM

#

Just enough information that the players know how the characters feel, but not so much that it feels like a lore dump. The characters know what stabweeds are, no need to explain.

formal geyser
#

its all in the presentation

#

oh, the plant is named stabweed

#

lets stay away from that

#

oh, the thing is named unfathamed plurnes, rather not fathom it then

latent badger
#

"Kid pops every stabweed like there's gonna be some sort of a prize" made me feel so seen, and validated, because that was my prize 😛

formal geyser
#

the narration is so good

latent badger
#

Like the moment I took out my first Gasfella and started breaking stuff and you hear Rucks go "Kid just rages for a while." I was just like. Oh... They're WATCHING me.

gleaming tapir
#

yeah Bastion is a little being in a solo ttrpg, with the GM gently sassing you the whole time XD

latent badger
#

Whereas Pyre is being in a party based RPG where the DM Berates you.

rain trellis

love the change of narration for the tazal terminals tho :3

OMG

Bastion: Dm watches sassily
Transistor: Your the dms special little baby and he loves you
Pyre: DM is done with your shade but also doenst want to interfere
Hades: Narrator is your one random snarky friend that just pops in and comments every 4 hours on the randomest things you do

latent badger

I still want to know who the narrator is.

Because it's DIAGETIC.

north sandal

If Hades was my first game of its genre and my first Supergiant game, which of their games should I try next? :)

rain trellis
#

bastion is the closest in combat

#

transistor is my personal fav so i def reccomend it

#

and pyre i haevnt played but ive heard is much more of a narrative

quick bluff
#

they're all worth playing, and all have at least one element in common with hades. bastion's gamepley closely resembles that of hades, while the narrative/dislogue system of hades is based on that of pyre

formal geyser
#

Bastion) If you liked hades combat (keep in mind it's a bit slower)
Transistor) If you liked Hades music and lore
Pyre) If you liked Hades dialogue and the fast paced action sequences

rain trellis
#

bastion has the weapons, transistor has the boons you could say, and pyre has the trinkets if we gonna go into specifics

north sandal
#

Thanks ^_^ I'm definitely planning on playing them all eventually. Just wanted to know which to prioritize first :D

#

Maybe I'll start with Bastion then!

night salmon
#

there's no wrong choice 💕

If you're planning on playing them all I'd recommend going in order :) some things develop from one to the other and it's fun to see the progression...

I'm really excited to try these all. There was so much passion put into Hades, I just need more of that experience :)

Bastion was my first, and as it opens... "A Proper Story's supposed to start at the beginning, Ain't so simple with this one."

rain trellis
#

god i love how bastion opens

#

bastion and transistor open the best imo :3

formal geyser
#

I love how Transistor and Bastion spoilers: ||that quote takes on a whole new meaning after the first "recurse" its just beautiful how that same kinda concept carries over to transistor recursions and a little bit of pyre on TN||

rain trellis

#

yk i wonder why they got rid of the intro thing for hades

#

like

#

in EA i remember the entire "im leaving dad" image and a few lines and then you get into the game

#

and i loved that

#

but i wonder why they got rid of it

latent badger
#

Hm, idk. I only picked it up in January, because I've been living under a rock for the past 5 years.

formal geyser
#

Oh hades is great

latent badger
#

Oh, I know, I have over 200 hours in 😛

formal geyser
#

All of them are just so good

#

oh wow

#

Are you any good?

latent badger
#

It's what inspired me to get Transistor and Pyre

#

I'm decent? I think?

#

Better at Hades than Pyre, FOR SURE

formal geyser
#

Oh Pyre, so fluid

#

Pyre is so good

#

And the best way to improve is to play against other humans

#

Because I never got past ||lib rite 1 || yet I can still beat the TN yslach ai (sometimes)

latent badger
#

Yeah, I definitely get that. I haven't played any PVP yet.

formal geyser
#

It is super fun

#

All I wish is pvp transistor (minus the 1 shot kill ability)

rain trellis
#

honestly the final boss opened to that opp ngl

latent badger
#

PVP Transistor would be fun, and ||they have mechanics for it yeah||

formal geyser
#

Oh yeah ||the final fight|| but you control ||royce|| would be sick

#

And Ive asked before, its just not possible with a mod really

latent badger
#

Yeah, The backend for Multiplayer games is way more complex than it seems at first. But I would LOVE to see a Transistor 2 that takes place after the events of the game, maybe in a different city, that incorporates some of the party-building aspects of Pyre... Imagine 2 Camerata-like teams coming into conflict and having the 3v3 but with Turn()?

formal geyser
#

YES YES YES YES YES YES

rain trellis
#

after the events lol

#

like

#

||im pretty sure the process just kills everything and i mean everything||

latent badger
#

Maybe let's not discuss spoilers.

formal geyser
#

It is technically possible to do a turn like thing with pyre like the wyrms salute but dont freeze the saluter but it wouldnt be very easy to do the turn juice bar mechanic

#

or next to impossible

latent badger
#

I'm sure there can be a way of building it over time like an Ult meter when taking/dealing damage like the Calls in Hades.

formal geyser
#

yeah, but no way to display trsut me ive checked

latent badger
#

Fair.

formal geyser
#

i could do somethign like 1 turn a round that lasts for 1 sec or something

latent badger
#

I'm not saying it would be an EASY challenge by any means

formal geyser
#

And definitly not

#

imagine a turn mechanic in hades though

latent badger
#

I want to play around in SGG studios for a few days just so I can see what that would be like.

formal geyser
#

oh my that would be great

latent badger
#

Like, What if the Kid from Bastion had a Party and a Turn Mechanic while fighting the Hydra?

#

Can we make that happen?

formal geyser
#

Timestopping basketball with a white haired kid in the depths of hell? Sign me up

latent badger
#

Cause like, if you think about it, Transistor had party-based turn combat with the doggos.

formal geyser
#

true

latent badger
#

And like, if the turn meter was both at the same time, like you plan your routes, then let them fly? that could be cool

#

like rolling initiative, planning your turn, then watching it all play out real time?

formal geyser
#

Also, ive talked about it with the modding community before and time stopping in hades is next to impossible as well

#

dnd but transitor?

latent badger
#

Oh yeah, this would likely be done in the Transistor engine yeah

#

DND but Transistor yes

#

Because I think that's something that's missing from TTRPGs

#

You have the inititave system, but everyone gets to examine the battlefield before they go

#

This would be like at the top of the round, everyone picks their actions and targets, locks it in, then the round plays out, repeat.

formal geyser
#

i see a lot of missing in the game

latent badger
#

Well, for AOE things, yeah

#

But for targeted spells, the targeting would track the characters movements

formal geyser
#

oh makes sense

#

i would lvoe that as a MP transitor type gameplay

latent badger
#

But if you wanna drop a fireball, you need to hope it's in the right spot.

#

Which adds complexity and complications to like wizards

quick bluff

latent badger

latent badger
#

Not familiar with the Banner saga

quick bluff
#

it's a trilogy of games. it's a little like pyre in that it's a visual novel with gameplay/combat sprinklied in, but in the case of the banner saga, the combat is more strategy based, with a grid layout and turn-based mechanics. it's really good! i'm in the process of replaying 3

#

it's the closest thing to pyre i know of

Pyre for sheer riotous kitchen-sink eclecticism (everything from thrash metal to harpsichord fugues to folk ballads), Transistor if you want to brood really beautifully while looking out over a rainy cityscape at night, Bastion for all the westernpunk fans out there who love a good snarling harmonica line

  • pyre's music is so deeply connected with the characters and the story, and every character's theme represents that character so well. the music probably wouldn't have the same impact if you haven't played the game. but its diversity and complexity also makes it the best of the four in its own right.
  • transistor's music is atmospheric (is that the right word? it's got ambience. which also means that, a part from a few notable exceptions, it's not as deeply tied to the story itself (with notable exceptions such as apex beat, impossible, coasting...
  • hades's music is....good, but the biome themes are largely forgettable because they're mainly background for battling your way out of the underworld (with notable exceptions such as last words and chaos theme)
  • of course, further exceptions to the above two points are anything sung by ashley barret and darren korb
  • not sure where to put bastion's music...it seems somewhere between the atmospheric ambience of transistor and the closeness to the story that pyre's soundtrack has

I know I could show “spike in a rail” to anyone and they would instantly get the vibe of that area

minor spear

Transistor and Bastion's soundtracks are really atmospheric which is probably why they're my favorites. They transport you into the different worlds found in their respective games (I.e. Mancer's Dilemma makes me feel like i took a swig of Ruck's pipe and am fighting off dream monsters). But we also gotta give credit to how all the vocal tracks are deeply tied into their respective stories as well so that's a thing not limited to Pyre.

i just love the soundtracks, darren did such an amazing job just setting the atmosphere and those vocal tracks are just perfect

Spike In A Rail is such a jam

ionic violet

AYYY someone else who likes spike in a rail

#

i think that was the best track bastion had

quick bluff
#

Spike in a Rail is definitely up there, but may I say: The Sole Regret

ionic violet
#

Correct also

#

I do prefer the former but the latter is a clear close second

latent badger
#

I have to respectfully disagree with the idea that the Hades BGm is forgettable. Having that meaty bass line in Elysium between rooms and then having everything else ramp up when you get to the next one, is just such a jam, and does such a good job of getting you into the fight. Also, having gone back to Bastion recently, they really nailed the dynamic "music changes as you battle" with Hades. It was there in Bastion, but in Hades, it feels like every track was composed to take exactly as long as your battle, and it's so well done, you hardly notice.

#

But also... Spike In a Rail is God-Tier.

#

And The Sole Regret is also amazing, and the perfect name for a Saloon, and having it at the beginning of the story really sets the tone for the rest of the experience.

quick bluff
#

fair points, and it might just be my own opinion talking: roguelites get repetitive and tiring for me after awhile, and my sense of the music ends up getting affected by that

#

pyre had those subtle changes in music as well as the "music takes as long as the scene does" characteristic, though in pyre's case, that shows up in the dialogue rather than in the gameplay/rites

i don't think the hades ost is less memorable, it just doesn't have as deep of a connection to specific story beats or segments like the other ones do by virtue of being a roguelike

neon kayak
#

God of the Dead.

#

It's not like Pyre or Transistor (I think there was an interview where all of the songs are supposed to be Red's?), but it does have its standouts.

formal geyser
#

Hades ost is like someone said, "We paid 1000e2000 dollars to a DJ to play this genre of music while we have a party but you cant be here to dj" and the music is a bop but it deosnt always adapt to what's happening. Then the other games are, "Ok we paid 1000e2000 dollars for the best DJ and all the best equipment and he can mind read so he knows exactly what's going on and what music fits best"

haughty crane
#

while that is somewhat true, the Hades track also has an incredibly good adaptive audio system that adjusts to what's happening, even if it doesn't do so right away and can't always do so perfectly

formal geyser
#

The hades music is so good, but the rest just have something super special about them that hades cant seem to capture perfectly

formal geyser
#

quick bluff
#

the repetitive nature of hades does have something to do with the lessened effect of the music. it's not simply that the game repeats: it's that the game repeats over and over in the same way every time. Which does also have the effect of letting some pieces stand out from the rest (such as Last Words, Primordial Chaos, and all of the vocal tracks)

neon kayak

I think there's something to be said for the heavy versions of all the tracks during miniboss and boss fights.

I have a question that isn't covered under the lets play policy (https://www.supergiantgames.com/blog/policy-on-lets-play-videos/), the support email I tried to send was automatically blocked and just linked to said policy, and I don't really know how to phrase the question to ask on twitter in 240 characters. Are the devs active enough here to help?

#

I mainly wanted to ask if it'd be alright to use SGG music for rhythm game customs, some games now in order to post to workshop require artist permission before you're allowed to post it, and while the policy does allow using it as background music in unmonetized streams and the like, it doesn't really cover enough of this specific use for it to be allowed, so I need to ask directly

#

which has been hard when I can't really find a line of contact

haughty crane
graceful bear
#

I can wait, I'm not in a hurry. I mainly want direct contact though, as while that would be sufficent, I'd like to get permission properly, since I'd like to be able to answer questions rather than get a non-direct "no"

#

Some people do consider workshop a paid use, some don't, and there's also stuff like terms that I can include (like don't use soundtrack quality files, don't use certian songs, etc).

#

also since this is just a good faith agreement and not like a full on contract, I don't want them to think I'm asking to license the music or I'm a dev, et cetera

You can play Bastion and Transistor on mobile via Apple Store.

But, no, there are no Android releases of these games.

pseudo prism
#

theres this post from 2015: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidGaming/comments/3sj4tr/no_supergiant_games_on_android_in_the_near_future/

Now that Transistor too has been launched on iOS, I got the envies and decided to reach out to the developers to put my mind at ease. Unfortunately, this is what Michael had to say:

"At the moment, we don't have any plans to bring Transistor or Bastion to Android, though we certainly haven't ruled anything out for the future. As you know, we're a small team, so any decision we make that involves bringing our games to a new platform is not taken lightly. It's a time-intensive and costly process that gates our ability to work on new content, so we always have to be mindful of that. If our plans change, however, we'll definitely share the news via our official site and our @ SupergiantGames Twitter feed, so keep an eye out. Thanks for your understanding and support."

This was kind of expected, really, there hasn't been even a tease of a possible port. Let's just hope their next game does so well that they can revisit their older titles!

Im sorry to ask this, but since I just beat hades a couple of times... Will there be any dlc? Or maybe even a sequel?

rain trellis
#

there will most likely not be any DLC, Hades is the biggest game SGG has released and they're probably burnt out on it- but also adding something would be difficult due to it most likely breaking the storyline- think of it like a finished puzzle that you can't add pieces to without cutting the already-placed pieces.

just the implications of any big dlc or a sequel wouldnt make much sense :/

you don't care about quality...?

quick bluff
#

VVVVVV is good quality, though

proud fractal
#

i don't really know how to explain gee

#

just- nevermind

wild patrol
#

yeah you can't really explain that well

quick bluff
#

if you don't really care about behind the scenes stuff, that's ok: many people don't as long as the game is fun to play

proud fractal
#

okay here i'll try to explain again

#

there is a low point of quality that must of course be reached for the game to be fun, but between a low quality and a high quality game isn't much of a difference to me, for me it's just "yeah i'll keep playing it" or "eh", even if i really enjoyed it i'll probably forget it sooner than later, i'm not really enthusiastic about things i do

#

that was, also, really bad

#

Maryam are you from um Arab origins?- I know the name is arab but i've been proven wrong by names being multi-language often so >~>"

proud fractal

probably risky using my real name, but i can't think of a snappy nickname that doesn't sound cringy

#

it's not really risky i wouldn't say

#

if you like it, that's good enough ^^"

wild patrol
#

it's not risky until you add your last name and then people can look you up on whitepages

proud fractal
#

yeah

#

i mean for me they can't even find anything, maybe a facebook that's been dead since 5th grade

wild patrol

whitepages lists your phone number and your address. if you're a minor you cannot be legally in the system. i'm pretty sure ataino that you mentioned you were a minor so don't worry.

Today i have officially finished all four games

All pieces of the puzzle

#

Fav song of each game?

quick bluff
#

brain imploding question right there

plush anvil
#

Bastion: In Case of Trouble
Transistor: The Spine/Sandbox/Gateless
Pyre: Surviving Exile/Never to Return
Hades: Scourge of the Furies, House of Hades (i think was the name at least)

faint moth
#

Can I just say the entire soundtrack for each game 😅

plush anvil
#

While I didn't like Hades' soundtrack as much, the other three wreck me

#

Thats not to say Hades' is bad! It just didn't hit my alley as amazingly well as the others did

#

Transistor and Pyre are games that hit my aesthetic 100% and it kinda scares me

formal geyser
#

Pyre ❤️🎵

rare flume
plush anvil
#

The Pyre battle themes do a good job of being intense but not as much as Hades'

rare flume
#

Since the tracks have all the variants with all the intensities, most songs get distracting at some point. Unlike in the other two (haven't played Transistor)

#

Just finished Pyre, still have to comb through the OST to find out the names of the ones I like 😖

plush anvil
#

Tried to come back to Pyre today and realized I had forgotten the controls ;~;

The most proplayer strat I used was yeeting the orb at an adversary and then immediately banishing them cause they lost their aura

plush anvil
#

Also Bastion is the only SGG game that didn't make me cry! Character development!

#

For the other 3 it was always the ending song that broke me and I sense a pattern

neon kayak
#

Transistor probably made me cry the most

plush anvil
#

Transistor and Pyre definitely for me

neon kayak
#

Like even after I closed the game I was still bawling the rest of the day

plush anvil
#

Bound Together is just illegal and so is Paper Boats

#

I was fine until the second voice joined in in paper boats and then i just sobbed

neon kayak
#

I was just sobbing uncontrollably when I saw the ending and it got even worse when the song came up cause I was singing the song and just ugly crying

plush anvil
#

THE RIVER ALWAYSSS FINDS THE SEEEAAA

neon kayak
#

I have paper boats on a few of my playlists but I still have to skip it most of the time as to not make any room I'm in a lake

plush anvil
#

Did i foresee the ending of Transistor pretty early? Yes. Did that stop me from crying? NOPE

neon kayak
#

I did not foresee it AT ALL personally

#

but I understood why It happened

plush anvil
#

At some point something clicked in my mind and I was like Oh.

#

Don't remember when exactly that was but then again my comprehension sucks because I also completely misunderstood what Royce was telling me until I saw him charge at me

#

I foresaw nothing in the other games, also

neon kayak
#

Let me tell you how much I didn't forsee the ending cause I was all happy and cheery and let me tell you that just changed instantly

plush anvil
#

Oh god

#

I am so sorry

neon kayak
#

It's ok I have slowly been recovering

quick bluff
#

i didn't see it. that rush of panic when you realize what's going on

neon kayak
#

Maybe we should move to #transistor for this convo since we may get into spoil territory? but idk

quick bluff
#

you right. crying at the end of a supergiant game isn't too spoilery at this point, but we should move if we want to get into any more detail

my favorite tracks

||Basiaally einstein then? He helped develop the nuke and how it worked, one of the less g kinds but he was a massive pacifist||

To my knowledge, Einstein didn't actually work on the A-bomb projects, they just used his proofs and theorems.

You know what, lemme Google this real quick.

formal geyser
#

Yeah yourright, his proofs helped but he never actually worked on it

neon kayak

Beat me to it.

formal geyser

Alright so kinda like a more involved einstein then

Didnt want it used, but still helped the development

Anyway, equating Rucks and Tamitha is still somewhat fallacious.

formal geyser

Bastion: “Build that wall”, because it’s gets stuck in my head every time and I don’t mind.
Transistor: “We All Become”, because it’s the song that originally got me hooked on SGG (“Paper Boats” is an extremely close second)
Pyre: “Vagrant Song”, because it makes me feel cozy
Hades: “Good Riddance”, TW ||CV19 has forced me to think through some heavy stuff... this song helped me make some peace with the enviability of dying and the growing distance between me and my birth family.||

#

I kinda want to edit a vid with all the other star crossed couples and set it to “Paper Boats”.

plush anvil
#

One thing I'll never get enough of is Bastion and Pyre being nice to me when I fail

#

I'm a very anxious person and that was a pleasant surprise

short tundra
#

pyre's thing of "you always progress and you can learn from failure" was really interesting to me because i don't think I've seen another game do that, and it's also very true to life. and i liked bastion's no death mode because it makes accessible to people who struggle with playing video games (me) but also for people who may have difficulty playing due to things like trouble with fine motor skills who can't play as well as people who don't

ionic violet
#

(but the fact that Paper Boats and Bound Together are illegally good is just. the holy truth)

#

I think BT is my favorite ending song because it was wholesome and not a gut punch to me
like when i was playing it hit, but when i listen to it nowadays all i get is the nice warm fuzzies

rare flume
#

Surviving Exile gilmanlove
Has a gorg Persona 3 feel

quick bluff
#

the sole regret, hummed old friends, the herald, and on the coast. that doesn’t include the songs with lyrics, though, which are in their own category

#

these are the songs that just release all the tension

rare flume
#

The Sole Regret feels more like ambience as you walk through deserted biomes thanthink
On The Coast is great tho. Just misses Zag's voice a bit

ionic violet
#

On the Coast is perfect the way it is honestly

#

I wouldn't say it's a favorite of mine cause I like to call the tracks I can listen to forever my favorites and this is the polar opposite of that

#

But it deserves some kinda honorable mention, cause it, combined with the visuals (and even gameplay to some extent), captures the feeling I really really missed in my games

#

Like that right there was the 'okay this is my GOAT' moment

#

||and then in the blood was quite disappointing compared to that moment but that's clearly just me||

Hmmm

It's like?? Partly wonder???

But it's just also this relief and pride and awe and a lot

A lot of good

#

That just melts into something incredible shared by the character and player

night salmon
#

I'm a sucker for Spike In A Rail, it gets me bobbing my head every time it comes on shuffle

#

When they barreled into a full orchestral arrangement of it on the Abbey Road album, I just about lost my mind 🥰

#

and I love the warm, friendly feeling of Strange Voyage

quick bluff
#

spike in a rail and brusher patrol: a real “it’s go time” song

#

agree on strange voyage! bobbing along in the sea with calm, happy music

night salmon
#

I mean, I'm a coastal/island girl so I'm biased

#

My parents have a place right on the rocky Puget Sound beach and I took my dad's skiff out yesterday in the sunny weather, rowed a mile and change south against the wind and fighting the current the whole way, then shipped the oars and kicked back with my feet up and let the waves take me home again

#

All I had to do was occasionally sit up and make sure I wasn't drifting out too far or close to shore, and watch the clouds

#

So I'm a sucker for that peaceful bobbing with the waves aesthetic, for sure 😅
