@neon kayak they've said that for now they will continue to work on Hades until they feel like it's stable and finished, followed by a break. after that, it'll be a couple of years most likely until they feel like they have something exciting and solid enough to present publically. they've always been quite reserved with works-in-progress

I think banishment is the only unpleasant thing, since it's described as an incredible sense of isolation

I think its normal for Indie developers. AS they develop games under much lower budget. Their games never will be as huge as AAA or AAAA (2077 or GTA5/6) games. Yet most AAA developers forget WHY we play games. Not because its fun, but its also BIG factor. But to immerse to new world. Bastion with totally new type of narration did it. Transistor and the world they created, Red and all characters all have own personality which is reflected through the story. Pyre was another big jump in story telling. You almost feel that YOU are a hero who play all rites, you set your strategy, talk with teammates. And now Hades makes that we totally forgot that we play rogue-lite because "I need to do another run" to see what Nyx tell me next. Its not another game where we need to save the world from hands of idiot who want to destroy it. And suddenly you have powers... yeach, of course.

I wanted HADES so bad on Steam because just yesterday I finished 100% Pyre (I finished Pyre two weeks after it's release), and I have the other 2 100% as well, so I want to have the picture of all 4 games at 100% to share with the Supergiant Games staff through Twitter. (I got Hades on Early Access the moment it was available on the Epic Store, so I had the soundtrack as well from there)

It's one of those things where, if it weren't extraordinarily difficult for our team, we probably would have already done it. We're fortune to have our own tech and tools, which are tailored to the individuals on our team and help us make games with a distinct feel. But one of the downsides is that porting that tech to other platforms is not as easy as we'd like. With Hades, we suspected from the start that we'd want to bring the game to Nintendo Switch, and planned for it early and made tons of technical changes to make it possible (and even then it was a Herculean / Heraclean task for our engineering team). Whereas most of Pyre's development occurred before the Nintendo Switch was announced, so we had no way of accounting for its hardware. This isn't meant as a bunch of excuses, as I know it can sound that way, just to provide some context.”```So just didnt pan out?

Shout out to Supergiant for Hades. Roguelikes are my all-time favorite genre, but I've always felt there was a little something missing from each of them I've played. This is not the case with Hades. The art style, the story, the gameplay, the replayability, the music, the attention to detail, are all fantastic and I've smiled like a maniac through every play session. Honestly, the most startling thing about Hades is how well-integrated and well-written the story is.
As a genre, roguelikes/roguelites (there's a slightly pedantic distinction there primarily based on the presence or absence of persistent progression mechanisms) are usually not concerned with story to any extreme extent. There's often (but not always) some justification as to why you're here and why you're doing the thing, but it's usually little more than that: justification.
Hades has a lot of story to tell, and it's told powerfully and meaningfully while also incorporating the very structure of the game into that story in an equally meaningful way, and that's some bold stuff.

Hello , I've playes transistor and pyre and for me, both games are a master piece. I've played thousnads of game i my life and both games can enter in my top 10.
And now, I would ask first, why you didn't make an online pvp system in transistor?! The combat system is amazing!
And at the end of the game you, as a player, can see how good could be the combat system of transistor in an mmorpg!
I would love to know your opinion about an online game where transistor and pyre world are mixed and where you can fight against mobs and players using the transistor's combaty system.
Where players can fight against each other whenever they want and losers receive negative points and after X amount of negative points they are sent to an "underworld" like in pyre where they must level up from 1 to X in that underworld and after certain amount of days
Do combats against other players using the combat system in pyre
A game where you can press button and your character "humms" the music like in transistor , using the voice you picked for your character
Fighting mobs can be like in dofus, you press a mob and your character and the enemy enters in an instance where other players can see what is happening during the combat if they do click in a "sword/flag" which represents the instance
And the language used for your character and npcs ( voice) is sahrian, the one used in pyre.. .. BOTH GAMES ARE AMAZING!! And an mmorpg mixing both games using an aerial view like in transistor could be amazing!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I just wanted to say that I've been basing the difficulty system for something I've been working on off of the difficulty systems of Bastion/Transistor/Hades

I live in Mexico, and our economy is terrible, albeit a bit manageable, but terrible nonetheless. Gaming for me is more a question of what can I play and afford rather than what do I want to play, so I always hunt for good deals and opportunities to buy, with saving and planning ahead...
This year, like for most, has been life changing, painful and difficult. My mom passed away because of cancer, I broke up with my girlfriend, I have had a hard time finding a job because of COVID and other strokes of bad luck. I am a voice actor, so my abilities are not that marketable outside a certain range and it’s a poorly paid job here. Money has been shorter by the day, and I have been heavily depressed and suicidal...
Even playing videogames made me feel empty because I kept thinking how much of a useless piece of garbage I was being.
A friend had told me to download Hades, and I kinda just dismissed it. I spent two whole weeks in bed, bouncing between YouTube and rewatching series like friggin’ Avatar: TLA, and back to my bed, with the occasional squeeze of Warzone now and then...
I got tested for COVID, after spending three days sick. Came back positive... Turns out I got it in a market where the food is literally the same they have in stock on the major supermarkets, but for a quarter of the price, and in huge non-branded packs. A place I have to go to solely because I can’t afford to go for the convenience store prices.
I was forced to stay over at the house of the friend who goes with me for the next two weeks because my dad has chronical kidney problems, and he’s super high risk. My mate insisted on downloading the game... Told me he knew I’d love it. He made a remark about the voice acting being magnificent.
Sooo... I pirated it. (This is the bit I am sorry about, but bear with me please )

I downloaded the game right in the day I moved to my mate’s house. I started it, and he was absolutely right. I loved every second of my first run, made it all the way into Elysium. Fell in love with every character, every detail put into thought, the humour, the art style, the gameplay, all of it.
I told you the story above this because I basically played the game throughout my whole quarantine, I have been tanking my depression with it, I have been playing several escapes, and it has been very manageable so far, with the game being one of the components to get through lately. For all of this, I would like to thank you deeply. I actually do love the voice acting, I am enthralled by the story, it has been an amazing experience.
Now, all of this is not a sob story looking for the kind soul to grant me the game, it’s rather a pledge. Whenever I get the means, I will pay for the game full price on steam, and henceforth will try to buy it to any person that I get the chance to.
I apologize once again for pirating it. You guys are the best!

Just wanted to say I really appreiciate how you guys handle game achievements. I like achivements - but being a father with limited time, I mostly find myself frustrated with recent games achivements. Espically Rogue games achivements ("Beat the final boss 50 times, then do it 50 more times with one hand tied behind your back"). I seen the pattern across all your games - achivements are mosly casual and fun, and most of them can be unlocked just by playing. That's a great approach 🙂

What if Supergiant did a metroidvania ? I have an idea that maybe could work but it can be a little dark. So here's the idea: A girl named Ida escapes her angry father who's abusive that beats her mom over and over again, but she escapes to a fantasy land of Stycius. And instead of a regular gun or sword as weapons, you have emotions as weapons like you use joy to defeat fear , love to hate, courage to horror. And it could have different endings to. Well we have top down metroidvanias like hyper light drifter that I got stuck on. But is nice that you switch genres from game to game @SUPERGIANT and then you do lovely games.

Question for the devs about Hades: Any plans to add online co-op? All my friends and I are playing Hades and would love to clear together. I was thinking when you join a friend's Hades game, you would be able to pick which character you wanted to play, Meg, Alecto, Thanatos, Hypnos, Achilles, Skelly, or Tisiphone.
This could open up a whole lot of great interactions and dialogue. For example: playing Alecto and you have to fight Meg and Tisiphone. Playing Tisiphone seeing the Olympian gods reaction when you reply 'Murder' when they gift you a boom. Thanatos talking about how killing with the rail is more fun than killing with this scythe.
To make it a challenge there could be a minimum heat requirement? Or just a base addition to monsters health and/or numbers? Also, maybe the chamber boons that pop up are different between the players. So you would have to agree which ones you both want. And if someone uses Fated Authority, it changes it for the other player as well. This could be for the other players detriment or benefit. Lastly, both players could not pick the same weapon.

I've put in my vote for Hades, I truly hope it wins as supergiant team absolutely deserves it. Even if its a runner up though, I'm still just really happy to see it get so much praise from everyone, even before hades, supergiant has always been held in high regard and I'm glad to see them get more exposure and their undeniable talent get recognition. This is my personal GOTY for sure! 😄 Besides that, are you guys planning to do more updates and stuff like new content on that game, or is it fully finished?
