hi there @safe terrace please could You consider opting in Hades 1 and 2 (and maybe others ;)) onto Geforce Now, NVIDIAs cloud gaming platform? You do it through steam, and it allows people from the whole world (it's available in over 110 countries) who buy or already bought it on steam to play the game in the cloud instead on their own PCs, which is fantastic for people who want to play on their phones, smart TVs, Mac and Linux systems or their VR goggles, or just have weak PCs/laptops! Look no offense meant the idea sounds perfect and awesome. However there still is such thing as a hardware issue/restriction. Besides you need to pay a petty payment just to be able to attend/use Nvidia cloud gaming. Besides doesn't Nvidia need to approve said games first? So you've to pay a price per month just to be able to stream a game. In mine humble opinion if your pc has upgradable parts such as cpu/gpu ram storage all that you might be better of doing than than joining a stream service because then the hardware depends on Nvidia and spoiler alert even then you can have lag if their service is down or less optimized

i think the idea behind using that streaming service is being able to play on some such mobile devices, no? which makes upgrading parts irrelevant if that is the OP's usecase

there's ROG Ally or something which is like a mobile gaming console

You can literally stream using steam. By using steam link. Why make it more difficult than it has to be? Besides if they would enroll it to Nvidia Nvidia would need to check the game before deploying it since they do that manually. This just sounds like a fairytale meant to fail

I quite literally work in the IT refurb sector so I know a lot of hardware and some about software and the specs steam recommend are as they day recommendations. Hades can literally run on the first Nintendo switch games while games such as Alien Isolation struggle a lot (to say the least) alien iso plays wonderfully on the steam deck. Whilst the specs are generally the same just a better APU and some more ram.

And even if supergiant decides to take such route. Network speed network reliability server-side reliability (from Nvidia and you as a client) are still a big bottle neck. We don't know what specs Nvidia uses we don't know if Nvidia uses "upgraded" hardware for people that subscribe to higher tiers. Besides in such case you own NOTHING! Nvidia can literally take the game down if they want and please. Just the word "cloud" gaming gives me shivers and google stradia already failed there's no future in the current cloud game world

The only thing cloud is optimized for at this time span is data back-up systems for mails and personal information. The game world is still in baby steps

I'll not go in further details. All I'll say is if you use Nvidia cloud gaming. Your wasting lots of money and your putting your rights to OWN games (physical copies or steam license keys since your still the owner) on the play field something gamers kept FIGHTING against since day 1. Or do I need to remind yall about the stopkillinggames initiative?

hi there, thanks for replying! Not sure what You mean by hardware issue/restriction. Of course the service is paid, I think it would be pretty weird if they gave You access to a 5080 RTX with 48GB VRAM and 56 RAM for free, albeit they do have a free tier where You can play with a 3050 card equivalent for 1 hour per session (sessions are unlimited). The thing is I don't want to buy and upgrade any equipment, I got rid of my PC like 10 years ago, I only have my work laptop and that's all. And I never planned to get one, between work and kids I would never find the time and muster the effort for it 🙂 Three years ago I discovered Geforce Now and it's the best thing ever, I suddenly could game in PC games again, since it literally just takes 3 pushes of a button on the remote to play games in my Steam, Epic, Ubisoft, EA etc libraries on a highend virtual PC on a 65" 4K TV 🙂

And of course it depends on Your network connection to the nearest GFN server, but I personally have about 7ms to their nearest datacentre, and it looks absolutely stunning with 120fps stream

and I also play on my android phone just as well, I can even interchange between the devices with the push a button as well 🙂

steam link is something completely different though, it streams from Your own PC, it still needs to be up and running, making noise, overheating, using power, You still need to boot it up, update Windows, update drivers, update the games, wait till the 70GB patch downloads and installs, manage Your disk if it's low on storage etc You have none of that with Geforce Now

also it's hard to boot up Your own PC to stream via steam link when You're away, when I'm in a hotel i just put a chromecast into the TV, connect it TV and can play my games, or I pull up my phone on a trainride to play 😉

generally the free tier uses an equivalent of a 3050, Performance a 3060/4060 RTX equivalent and Ultimate a 4080/5080 RTX equivalent

The thing about "owning NOTHING" is that You use Your own bought games on steam/epic/ubisoft/EA/MS Store/gog games - depending which were opted in by the corresponding developers/publishers so there is nothing to lose. And the second thing is, for me specifically, I wouldn't be bying a gaming PC/laptop either way 🙂

And they don't take down any games unless the developer/publisher asks them to or the title becomes unusable because of some bug and devs/publishers no longer supoort it/don't help them out to fix it

and the only situation I can think of the first situation is when Sony opted in God of War and then asked them to take it down like a week later - albeit users who started to play it on the service still have accessible since the GFN peeps negotiated with Sony to keep it there for those users

I wouldn't say so myself. It's pure magic how the service currently works in my opinion, You can play up to 5K resolutions with up to 360 fps for games that support Reflex, they support HDR10, YUV 444, and the stream has a max bandwidth of 100Mb/s. They also recently added support for selected racing wheels and HOTAS 🙂 and as I said I personally don't see any latency at all, and the number of platforms/devices it works on is big

not sure how You put Your steam licence keys on the play field? You don't use keys to play on GFN, You just connect Your steam/epic/xbox/etc account in the app and that's it

And I don't view it as wasting money, I wouldn't buy any piece of hardware anyway, but I always was a PC gamer, and I currently have pretty hefty steam and epic libraries myself. And getting a similar rig they offer in the cloud would cost about 7 to 10 years of the subscription, by which time it would require heavy upgrading (of course not taking into account that some parts, like the mobo or power supply or the GPU could simply break in that time), and that's not accounting for things liek power usage 🙂

I think You should sincerely try it, if Your Dutch there's a GFN datacentre in Amsterdam so You should have pretty decent connection Yourself 🙂

and the cost thing also doesn't account for discounts which they do from time to time

but the google stadia argument is moot here, since they failed precicely because their whole model was specturarly flawed. They required developers to port games specifically for Stadia, for which in turn they paud the biggest names millions, not even mentioning doing games exclusive for stadia. And it required gamers buying games specifically for stadia as well, esentially double dipping. Geforce Now has none of that - it just runs a steam/epic launcher/Ubisoft connect on a Win 11 based instance and it launches the game You own on it

i work in the IT tech field i know that hardware gets thrown away the moment it gives a hassle like a hard drive not working any longer or a ram stick going bad or well no support anymore since win 10 is out the window. cloud gaming wont resolve anything the moment a server is specified as "out-dated" you'll have down time. down time you could have resolved by upgrading some pc parts. besides ping and jitter and other network related problems shall remain. cloud gaming has no future, besides why else would the stopkillinggames and other initiatives exsist? hm?

it's a real shot in the dark and i don't think you'll be able to help me find some obscure ahh itch indie game

but i've been dying to replay it for years lol

essentially it's a character wearing a hat and bearing a gun in this tile-based Roguelike, the aesthetic is black-and-white with i think tints of red; you have a certain amount of moves before your character runs out of ammo and are forced to switch out their gun, and thus their method of attack. you get to go through a few levels and that's it

i believe they have like a sight radius around them that prevents them from seeing enemies farther away

i was dying to find it and find out if it was ever released or expanded upon, it may have been made for some competition

it isn't top-down per se - i have played most of the games in your examples, and i'm a big fan of traditional Roguelikes; the characters had sprites to them, think Crypt of the NecroDancer, and the monsters you were fighting were also bats and such. the aesthetic was similar to that of Downwell

each tick/turn would count down a timer to forcefully switch your weapons

that's what made it so unique and memorable to me

it was a small itch.io title likely made for a competition, it wasn't a big-name game like C:DDA or NetHack

I am very happy to see the console versions of Hades II announced. I’ve been waiting for the game to come to PlayStation ever since the timed exclusivity deal with Nintendo (especially as someone who bought the first game on both Steam and PlayStation and even platinumed it :D). However, I would like to ask something from the team at Supergiant Games.

Unfortunately, most studios do not offer regional pricing support on PS5, and this includes your games as well. and as a result, games are often priced nearly twice as high compared to their Steam versions. In some cases, they are even more expensive than prices in the United States.

Question to the people who got tickets for the concert on London in June

did you guys ever got an actual ticket from southbankcentre.co.uk yet? the recipe said we will have to get them "Collect at ticket office". Does that mean on the day then when we are in London?

You should probably contact the venue for details. They probably have information for Will Call on their website

Typically a venue will allow ticket pickup on days before the event (so you don't have to stand in a potentially massive line the night of the event) but what you need to verify who you are will depend on the venue

so last time I went to an event at Southbank, they sent me the tickets via email (QR code) about 4 days before the event, which iirc is how they've done it for the concerts before too (I went to a BG3 concert in 2024 that was a similar theme to the Hades one)

I'm not 100% sure if this is the same for everyone as I do have a slight difference in that I have wheelchair ticket plus companion ticket which might be handled differently

if they don't email you a ticket then it might be worth going down to the centre earlier in the day before the concert, and I can at least say the staff there were all very helpful for any queries and issues we had (navigating the lifts can be a bit complicated because some only go to certain floors but if you can use stairs you'll have a much easier time finding the way)

@empty egret Our favorite moment or rather a discovery that made us fall in love with Pyre, is strangely when the game opens up after a certain point. The carriage obtains flight and changes the dynamic of how the different areas are viewed in terms of how they connect to each other. Pyre is rather unique seeing as though its the only title where the presentation isn't simply isometric like the rest of their ips.
