That's definitely weird that you can't close them from the main menu. You can also close them with Task Manager if the Steam Client isn't an option.

Ok so in my game, ive unlocked everything, but somehow its glitched(ofc it is bc when isnt it) and now i cant unlock the bravery of familiar spirits incantation.

Does anyone know how i can acces and edit my safe file so i can unlock it(im on mac).
Or somehow overwrite my current safe file with one that does have it unlocked? I just dont wanna start a complete new game, do all that again to get the pets and then find out its corrupted/bugged there too.

Hey, did you recently reported this in-game with F10 as well? As I think that I saw your report. If so, I checked that save, and you should fight and defeat ||Hecate|| without any Familiars equipped, so that she says a specific line about Familiars, then Faith of Familiars Spirits should become available in the Cauldron, and once you purchase it, if you start another run and die, Bravery of Familiar Spirits should become available in the Cauldron, and once you purchase that one, you should be able to upgrade your Familiars.

I do wonder how you were able to get Familiars without the first incantation, though... Did you modify your game files, or used any mods at any point?

Hello! I need help with Hades 2 not launching.

Problem: When I try to start the game, a Message Box appears immediately with unreadable/garbled text (looks like font corruption or symbols: DDµN/NN, NED*D'...). The game crashes to desktop. No errors in Windows Event Viewer.

Did I miss something? I upgraded Selene's aspect to level 5, the second aspect is Nyx's aspect, who I was fortunate to meet right after... But she didn't give me any wake up phrase...
Also, how are players supposed to guess how to unlock the hidden aspects? The game doesn't really give any hints...

Steam on PC. Windows 11 (if that part matters). killed the run a bit ago since I couldn't find any fixes and saw that quitting mid-encounter was guaranteed to wipe the run, but not the end of the world

Gotcha. For future reference, you should be able to manually close the game, then use the steps here ( #h2-tech-fixes message ) to recover your mid-run progress.

If you didn't already, please also report that in-game with f10 - it's fine to do so even after closing the run.

As long as you don't move between any rooms or start a new run, yes. It's safest to force-quit the game using Task Manager or Steam, then follow the steps, but if you Give Up and then immediately Quit, you should still be able to load the _temp.sav file

From the tech-fixes section I tried:

· Restart the game with the controller connected.
· Toggle the Steam Input setting to the opposite of what it is set to (enabled or disabled). To do this, right-click Hades II in Steam and select Properties > Controller. Then under Override for Hades II, select the corresponding option in the dropdown menu.
· Ensure that there is only one controller connected to the PC (wireless or wired).
· Disconnect all controllers and remove all controller devices from the Device Manager. Then, reconnect your primary controller and try again.

and

1. Ensure you have the latest graphics drivers (instructions above).
2. If you're experiencing lag when moving with a controller, follow these instructions to disable the Microsoft GameInput service
3. Close all other running programs on your PC.
4. In-game, under Options > Display, change Graphics Quality to "Low".
5. In-game, under Options > Display, try toggling Fullscreen and/or VSync.
6. If you have multiple graphics devices, under Options > Display, try changing "Auto" to manually select a different device.
7. In-game, under Options > Interface, try toggling off Transmit Data.
8. Disable any overlays, e.g. Steam, GeForce, etc. (instructions above)
9. If you have Nvidia G-Sync or AMD FreeSync, please disable them. If available, turn on AMD Anti-Lag.
10. If available, in your graphics device control panel, set 'Maximum Performance Priority' and/or 'Fast VSync'

Hello! Is there anyone I can ask here about messing with the game files? I played during early access but at the time, I was 'sailing the high seas' and wasn't playing in Steam. Recently bought H2 during the winter sale though, and want to play it from the start again.

However, I was curious if there's a way to carry over just the resources from my early access save. I don't want to carry over the full save because it feels weird jumping into the middle of the story after months of not playing, but it feels like a waste not being able to keep the resources and stuff like the decor I bought, especially cause i dont have as much time to grind many runs these days.

Not sure if this is ok to be asked here, let me know if it isnt. Thanks in advance for any help!

Well initially essentially the game would freeze and I would have to click with my mouse in order to be able to use controller input again. but since uninstalling and reinstalling the game now hard crashes whenever the controller is unplugged or plugged in haha so god only knows whats going on :p

I was significantly further in H2 on my steam account than last time i synced it on my switch 2, so I tried to sync it on my switch 2.
It did that succesfully, but I mistakingly closed the game before savign and syncing it, and now both my switch 2 and my steam saves are the ones that are way behind.

I found a glitch which gave me the zagreus bond after only 3 wins. In the keepsake list and the book it shows a completed relationship but after the fight I did not receive the cutscene showing bond forged.

Restarted my PC, Tried to see if other games did the same thing but they didn't, un-installed and re-installed. Verified the files more than once, and Checked if it was the same with Hades 1 and it is (yet with every other game it works perfectly).

As a starting point, right click on Hades 2 in your Steam Library, then navigate to "browse local files". I'm not at my computer so I can't pull up a screenshot of exactly where, but find the Hades .exe file, right click on it, and select "Run as Administrator"

Running as Admin allows programs to bypass some restrictions that are automatically put in place on most applications. In this case, it might allow the game to start properly when it won't otherwise.

Could you try just double-clicking to run the game from that same file normally? Do you get the same error?

Two other thoughts - first, if your system is not very far above the minimum specs, it may not be able to load the higher-resolution textures.

The other thought is for renaming the folders - did you specifically rename 1080p to 720p and 720p to 1080p ? It wasn't mentioned in the original post so I wanted to check

The acronym in the missing file is "Microsoft Visual C++", and that .dll is a part of the regular package. Normally it gets installed properly with games or applications that need it, but sometimes that doesn't work properly for any number of reasons.

In terms of what it is/does - it's one of the tools that the game uses to interact with the computer so it can actually function. Without it, the game can't access all of the functionality it needs, so it fails to start

Following that link brings you to a page with a lot of options/information about VC++. Clicking on "Latest supported Redistributable version" will bring you further down the page, where you most likely want "X64" since it's a new laptop

You should be able to just download that and run it. It may have a couple additional installation windows, but those should be straightforward to follow (though feel free to ask if you need any clarification/support!)

i installed a downgraded version of my drivers plus the d3d12.dll files method and suddenly the game works fine

now i need to play with Vsync because the game has that delayed screen refresh, BUT I DONT CARE I CAN PLAY HADES 2 AS NORMALLY

I'm playing windowed mode. At some point I accidentally slightly changed the size of my dock, and I think it's messed with my resolution. Now I'm limited to 2048x858 (Changing the size of my bottom Dock changes my screen size/resolution) BUT if I just keep finicking with my Dock (making it smaller or larger, doesn't matter) my window gets a bit bigger, and I...don't know why.

Hi, I have a problem - when I start to stream Hades 2 on discord - I have in-game fps drop. But it works in a strange way.
Sometimes fps in absolute fine, sometimes (often in fights) fps drops significantly. Also fps constantly drops in main menu.
I have Nvidia RTX 4070 laptop and I have this issue ONLY in Hades 2.
Didn't notice anything similar while streaming other games at all
What could be the problem? Set the priority to High in task manager, closed all overlays both from nvidia and discord, did all relevant instructions I could find on the internet

Every time I start streaming on Discord, the FPS drops. As soon as I turn streaming off, the game returns to a stable FPS.

Not a tech support thing, because it was so benign, I didn't even take a screenshot. I was thinking about the achievement, "Breaking up the band," where you're supposed to revive a siren with Night Bloom. That all works fine and well, but I think that you could add other revive mechanics to it- The one I specifically noticed, being "Sun Worshipper." Just a thought! I had revived the drummer with the duo boon "Sun Worshipper" and thought that revive was with the spirit behind the achievement.

Like, maybe there could be a HUGE update (or even DLC) that, after you get the true ending and ||rescue the fates||,unlocks a 3rd path that has you fight Echidna, the mother of all monsters, at the end. You could even add Chaos as an optional boss.

This was on Selene, and I did not have any time slowing mechanics activated at any point during the run up to that point (Eternity, Phase Shift obviously], etc.)

I can't give my familiars treats to upgrade them
Met two more familiars outside of the crossroads, that I couldn't invite with a treat no matter how often I meet them. generally I have everything unlocked a guide online said to unlock, except for upgrading one familiars ability.

Then I cooked their treats again to see if that helped.
And did more runs, to see if it needed more story progression or an intro-conversation.

I still got no prompt to press whatever button to gift them treats, no matter if the familiar is active or not.

Info for troubleshooting and possible recreation of said bug:

• God Mode is active on this saveslot
• Order of familiars invited to the crossroads: Raki, Frinos, Toula
• The Incantation "Faith of Familiar Spirits" has been concocted
• I got 9 Witch's Delights on me
• I got them to join me before I cleared the Underworld, Surface nor any Chaos Trial
• All weapons are unlocked (except some aspects)
• All tools are unlocked and upgraded to Rank II
• Story progression – Nights: 64 | Underworld clears: 6 | Surface clears: 6 | Chaos Trials: 11 (none of them I did twice so far) ||

I also couldn't find this as a known bug on switch so far.
The only thing I didn't try so far is starting a second saveslot.

More possible bugs I noticed:

• After a plotpoint in crossroads a gift to a character in the crossroads doesn't increase their friendship, even though it shows me that it is possible and that it was successful (for example: ||Moros and Dora had a conversation Melinoë joined in||)
• The same happens whenever I try to gift someone in the crossroads after I did a Chaos Trial
• not sure if this is a bug, because technically there was not plot-progression: after a Chaos Trial conversations in the crossroads seem very one-sided, but as if Melinoë prompted the conversation

Correct, unfortunately. It could just be a small file error, but it could also be missing a large chunk of information, and there's no straightforward way to figure that out or repair it.

If it is an AMD driver issue, you may be able to fix it by using DDU to uninstall your current version, and then reinstall a slightly older version such as the one mentioned here ( #h2-tech-support message )

I'll take a look at your log file today or tomorrow and see if that gives me any other ideas. It's also possible some of the steps here ( #h2-tech-fixes message ) for Performance Issues may help.

I didn't have anything specific in mind, but I did just realize it's possible the music player one is trying to do something that was included with the mod, but is no longer present

More generally, I mean that it's possible a mod added something that persists in the save file even after being removed, so the game doesn't know how to handle the data without the mod present

An extreme example would be if you had a custom weapon, saved mid-run, then tried to load it without mods—that would almost definitely crash

If this fixes it, you may only need to reenable the mods once, and then could potentially turn them back off again

If this fixes it but you can't disable the mods again, your best bet would be reaching out to the modding server (pinned in #self-promotion ) and clearly describing the mods you'd used + where you're getting stuck.

Updating on this, I've installed the older driver version and it still didn't work but apparently it was an issue with mods somehow, if i start the game modded (even with 0 mods enabled) it makes the game load and work so far, sorry for the inconvenience as this is not really an issue with the game and thanks for the help

hi, my cats turned my pc off while i was mid game and the game is giving me trouble starting now with this error. I've tried the steps in #h2-tech-fixes and even if i delete the (backed up) folder games\Hades II\ , uninstall / reinstall the game and start fresh the game still gives me the error. • upon respawining in the training grounds, you are free to select anbd edit any arcana loadout
• neither path will be blocked from void

I wanted to share a massive passion project I just completed. I’ve fully localized Hades II into Arabic! This covers over 36,000 lines of dialogue, UI, and menus.

Since the custom engine doesn't natively support Right-to-Left (RTL) text, I had to manually inject Arabic fonts and modify the engine scripts. The only limitation I couldn't bypass without source code access is that multi-line sentences currently read from bottom to top.

I did this completely for free because the Arab gaming community absolutely loves this game and its deep narrative. My biggest dream as a fan and a modder is to see native RTL text support added to the engine in the future. This would open the doors for millions of Arab players to experience your masterpiece seamlessly.

Probably not a "bug" per se, but here's the situation w/ screenshot:
I went into Thessaly with one DD spent (||sloppy Polyphemus fight fml ||), and had two Hermes wells both offer me Kiss of Styx in short succession; I had the coin (Charon Keepsake + Boatman Arcana), so I bought both for Delivery.

When the second one was delivered, I hadn't lost another one yet, so I'm standing here unable to pick it up (it shakes stubbornly when I hit the key) - I know KoS is offered frequently when you're missing at least one DD, but being unable to Overfill makes it seem like a mistake or oversight that I was able to order two of them from Hermes while only having one DD spent. Especially since that's 200 gold that I could have spent elsewhere

I'm playing on steam deck, and I'm unable to activate auto fire. I have auto fire bound to left trigger which the game DOES recognize. because when I go to change keybinds and press left trigger, it successfully binds it to left trigger. so the problem isn't that left trigger isn't being sent to the game, it's just that pressing it does nothing

set it to left bumper, set it to capture button, nothing. the game recognizes these buttons but auto fire simply can't be turned on

connected a controller just as a sanity check, same thing. it's not a control issue, the code that activates auto fire simply isn't able to run on my steam deck for whatever reason

yep, im using the same save profile ive been using on pc. it works totally fine on pc. just started a new profile on the deck, same issue. even binding auto fire to A, still doesnt work. i hold attack and it charges up my omega, then i press auto fire and hold attack again, and it still charges up my omega. ive used auto fire for hundreds of runs on pc on my same profile and it works fine there

Heyo! Overlays can sometimes cause performance issues like that, yeah, though not necessarily that severe. It might also be worth seeing if disabling the Steam/Epic overlay makes a difference

I'm experiencing audio stutter. It's not constant. Sometimes only when there's dialogue between MC and other NPCs. First it was happening during the area before Cerberus fight and during the fight too. After I died it started to happen from the start of a new run.

Does your TV support VRR? If so, can you check the PS5 settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. Make sure VRR is set to Automatic, then under that enable 'Apply to Unsupported Games'

If your display does not support VRR, it may be worth trying the PS5's low energy mode for Hades II. PS5 Home > highlight Hades II > hamburger button > Power Saver for Games > Use Power Saver > Toggle it on for Hades II. This feature caps Hades II to 60 fps and should help with the stutters

when loading between locations (especially in ephyra) the game will frequently hold on a black screen and require a relaunch. audio from the previous location can still be heard, but inputs do not register. this has only been present for me ever since i updated to windows 11 a few months ago (evil operating system), but has been notably present today both in and out of ||dream dives||, about once every region or so. it is most common when entering any location in ephyra, entering a guardian encounter, entering an location with an ally, and entering the crossroads. this equates to about every 10 minutes
i have tried updating my driver, clearing cache, closing all other intensive applications, verifying file integrity, verifying c++, deleting settings file, disconnecting non essential usbs, running steam as administrator and entirely uninstalling and reinstalling-- all to no avail :/ this isn't related to opening the game or starting a session, only every so often when loading to a new location from another

I’ve noticed someone else on here speaking on the matter that I’ve been experiencing so I guess I’m not alone yay lol.
Point being I used to have this bug where the screen would just go black as I enter the final guardian’s room however I just chalked it up to my laptop being meh and it wasn’t the most regular bug I’ve seen.
However ever since the new patch it has happened quite a lot more (like 3 times in one run compared to once every 3 runs probably before) and worst of all it’s happening whenever I go from the crossroads to the training room almost consistently so I’m kinda lost on what to do.
Sorry if I’m repeating a bug that’s already been reported or that a solution was given and I missed it lol but thanks in advance for any help.

No, verifying won't get rid of the problematic extra files unfortuantely. Your save data is separate and won't be affected, but if you're worried you can back it up by copying to another location. You can find steps on where to do that in #h2-tech-fixes

Well I’ve just had a complete dream run without any of the black screen bug so I suppose that did fully work so thanks again!
(Small aparte since I’m not sure if this is a bug or not but in a Hypnos dream run if region 4 is a surface region and you buy a hermes delivery item there, he doesn’t show up before the final boss to give me the item I bought like he does on the summit on a regular run meaning he scammed me! lol Any plans about that?)

Reporting a bug I read on Reddit PS5 and PS5 Pro threads: The game seems way too soft and blurry. Apparently runs at 1080p only when outputting 120 fps. Instead of 4K 120fps as intended.
I don't have the game installed yet - and won't be able to test for a while - but people report 1080p output and blurry soft upscaled image in 120fps mode.

Thanks, but my issue is the dynamic nature, so setting a launch parameter with a static value kinda leaves me back to where I am..

Use case: I stream to my iPhone 16 Pro with a 2622x1206 resolution for full display glory (which my monitor supports & desktop resolution is config’d as), but then switch back to my desktop after streaming which is 1440p

hence thinking the easiest config being some call that looks at the current display’s resolution

Thanks, but to be clear, streaming generally relies on just showing the physical display on your remote client (I know there’s virtual display drivers & dummy plugs, but for simplicity I’m using a “standard use case”), so idk if the game can ever just know what the streaming display is doing.. hence just thinking a “match desktop resolution” option would be sufficient/delightful
