I did end up getting her early after a restart and Im starting to get the hang of all the new mechanics after reading all this. Aside from all the respective weapons I need to get, Im planning to grind through story for FWS on starter supply, then just swipe my card for PA helia on carnival (for the grail of infinitude synergy + shes also really hot), Would this be good to get my foot in the door for the new meta?

Mei Paws Badum should be three full teams of DPs and support yes

Since they all match each others rings

Only the ones with weapons will work as dps so it might be only 1-2 teams starting out but still

With those three characters you should be easily able to retain A3, the third highest abyss tier

And maybe occasionally bounce redlotus

(Redlotus retain would be possible if fully built but you’ll probably be low on materials to upgrade stigmas and pri arms)

Aside from all the respective weapons I need to get
I actually do NOT recommend getting weapons for reruns, esp fws. Weapons are notable for personal damage and (edit: sometimes) utility. The long term value of it just isn't as great since their dps roles gets more niche as time goes on. FWS in particular doesn't need her weapon to play. Main thing you lose is a chunk of resonance dmg multiplier which is relevant if she's supporting a world star team ||relevant to next patch's release. check #🔮cn-gameplay-discussion pins|| but i doubt you need it for retaining RL. If you're willing to spend it's more ok but long term wise and/or opportunity cost wise, i rather you focus on new releases (one of weapon and valk is fine).

Does starter banner still have a 50/50 chance between FWS and FDD? Maybe hesitate if you don't want FDD. But I actually wouldn't mind either in this case. Check pins for details on carnival for the two. Otherwise consider getting one from carnival too since the 20 free pull will cut the cost to pity a bit (only if you can finish in time. pity doesn't carry over)
I do have this analysis if you're picking between FWS and FDD #👶beginner-help message but maybe that's not relevant to you

a few other quick things i want to say

• it takes time to get out of early game. roughly one month at best? you can prob stick with Mei dps for the most part, or the damage drop on a weaponless gacha valk is prob still ok in the meantime. Late game, the dps scenarios for reruns are more once in a blue moon, and with an early account you're expected to bruteforce with what you have early on (mei dps again) until you get variety from new things that would last longer and be more immediately useful later (can prob ||use SW dps next patch|| too)
• while triple GoI team works, make sure you understand you're not matching 3 of the same ring type. You're matching leader ring type to tags. This is why FDD can support mei too.

Neither JDS or lamp ranks are especially notable but if you’re getting HLE I would prioritize Lamp I suppose. Could also consider

• prisms if you’re low on them and it would let you max a notable stigma
• ||silverwing|| fragments for ranks
• Elf fragments (a bit questionable as a long term investment atp but Kiaelf still has her niche if you can get her to 3*)

Nothing here is enormously high value

And if it’s just one stamp it’s not gonna be enough for even S1 on its own

RoO ring is more of an anything goes rather than anything specific. Maybe by nostalgia you are referring to herrscher trio but other RoO leads are quite different.

• The new gacha ones so far have wanted triple RoO on the team (vita and fdd coralie). RoO valks aren't very common which is why i suggest FDD instead of PAWS if you must get something further (but also consider skipping altogether for the long term if you don't mind playing mei slightly non fully until later, esp with horb in mind who has symbiosis)

I don't really recommend going back for HoRb at this point but for sentimental purpose it's ok as long as you can pay it. The anni bundle is honesty overpriced for a old valk at 30 bucks or so, so maybe skip that and go only for reserve. Why SS specifically? Maybe you hear of that as a meta rank but at your current state you're really going out of your way. You still have many other long term fields to fulfill before you can contest closely against veteran accounts (dkey, dorm). the dps prospects of a dkey valk isn't as much as a newer release (their dps scenarios go niche or becomes gone sooner). Maybe you want horb to support ||sw but even if horb is best, it's not by much and i don't recall if the ranks are major for astral ring teams. For ws support you may more consider horb weapon dupes and the new astral op but those cost crystals). || Maybe we can discuss in detail what horb ranks will do?

My advice is generally more conservative and long term for f2p and light spenders btw. Naturally the more you spend the more inefficient long term it's ok to be. Meta isn't everything either.

Songque Astral Op

Songque Astral Op is a Gacha only Astral Op and she is designed to be used in World Star ring type teams. She is also viable as a general elemental Astral Op if the designated Astral Op for a team is not owned.

The main effects she gains at each rank are:

for horb ranks, S2 was notable for old non-astral ring teams. Saves some time at the start of the fight with a quicker way to gain the sp she needs to ult. Obviously that's not as relevant now.

If you care about memorial arena then it can be meaningful there for specific high end strats but that's prob out of scope for now, and MA isn't important for rewards anyway. SS in MA might have some notable thresholds too but I'm not keen on the details there.

They're permanently available so you can always come back to them later. Some of them gives 1 supply card which makes it compelling to get to eventually. However they are stages that restrict you to older valkyries so they're not very friendly to get into. There are various youtube videos on how to clear them even at minimal ranks and gear.

The worth is up to you to decide. But certainly people are often starving for pulls that they would do it esp when they're f2p

some people might say the effort and time it takes for one single roll isn't worth it.

HoT wouldn't be used in all of these. These stages are generally meant for the valk you see on the images. But yeah see what you can do for now

Do note HoT has a newer signature weapon available in reserve works shop called 7 Thunders of Retribution. That weapon is actually worth getting there if you don't already own it since it's a divine key (tune it to integrate it into the dorm's divine key menu, and then unlock slight (+10 atk) passive stats to all valks on your account from it)

Crystallums are a Battle Pass Currency that can be exchanged for Valkyries and Equipment in the Reserve Works. Captains who purchase Knight or Paladin BP can also access the BP Works of that patch for 3 versions.

There are 3 BP tiers offering different amounts of Crystallums as follows:

• Vanguard (F2P) BP: 5 per patch
• Knight BP: 18 per patch
• Paladin BP: 24 per patch

review the descriptions to darwin. 2pc doesn't want you to take hits (very odd with how M wants you to take hits but the m effect isn't important). b piece wants you to evade enemy attacks perfectly 4 times to max out its effect. It's highly impractical to mileage fully overall.

darwin is a base 4* stigmata too so it's a bit costlier in materials (phase shifters especially early on) but overall not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. In the future be a bit more reserved when it comes to investing higher base rarity stuff if you don't strongly know how good they are.

The main resources i tell players to be wary of are crystals, honkai shards and AE imaginons, source prisms, and i guess also pri arm materials.

meta wise i recommend you to prioritize latest gacha releases. Stay away from any rerun generally speaking, or ask if you want to consider one anyway.

The game has a greater emphasis on the meta because that's how you get more crystals from abyss. But meta isn't everything and don't meta slave into forcing yourself into pulling stuff you don't like.

darwin T is 32% lightning damage with 94 atk, but takes time to build up to. 60 combo might be asking too much if your supports are VBm coralie and RC pardofelis. Can consider A rank fischl maybe? if the fight is very prolonged then maybe consider darwin T over edison T.

but edison T and 3pc gives 30% lightning damage at 58 atk immediately

Depends a bit on the account,
Generally I don't think that badum has that much DPS value at this point and for her support role her weapon is not needed, granted you lose some buffs but they're not major.

For fdd she definitely has some value as a support, though she also loses some relatively decent team buffs without her weapon. I'd still tend to her because she may cover your need of a second RoO support for a future RoO DPS and also bring some other utility like breach ( I don't really think breach is as significant these days ), longer trauma status, easier status application, easy access to your ult for GoI teams etc.

If you already have support coverage for everything that fdd does her value does drop a bit imo but still not below the value of badum weapon

You have some decent coverage for the characters of yours, the only thing that she would bring to your table would be the role of an RoO support tbh.

Even if she's recommended in a lot of teams ( in game recs aren't that good tbh ) these days other valid supports come close/are better than her from time to time. Especially if your fdd is weaponless for Mei/hle as a DPS badum+hle/Mei as supports should come fairly close to fdd and prob even outperform her.

I'd still side with fdd if I had to decide but I don't really think that pulling either is something that's advisable here especially since you want those funds for future units

At the very least darwin was the main easy bad one to slip down into but the rest in the starter training shop are more fine (i wouldn't invest in them at this point unless you really have to though)

and for those stress test levels, conservatively speaking i would see how far you can get with using prism stigmata on the older valks. These generally are hyper specific but each stig still has one generic effect and raw atk to still apppreciate. See how far you can get with those

practically speaking though with enough time you'll overflow on materials that it's fine to just level stuff like ana or marco or gluttony when you need them

or maybe even further down the road you'll craft higher old stuff from foundry (prob for specific MA purposes if you care enough) that can further extend in use to your older valks that way.

part 2 team building essentially works as follows:

• select the valkyrie you want to use as a dps and put her as the leader
• look at her astral ring specialization ( )
• look for the corresponding attribute that supports that ring type (I will pull up the faq for it shortly) - the astral ring valkyries are tagged with their astral ring supporting attributes so you want to pick 2 compatible supports.
• If you don't have 2, default to using A-rank coralie because she is a very general support.

Astral Ring Attributes

Allow me to explain, Captain!

"Attributes" refers to tags that every Part 2 Valkyrie has, allowing them to provide benefits for multiple Astral Ring Specializations. Each Valkyrie usually has more than one Attribute.

Each one of the Astral Ring types has one associated Attribute that will make a Valkyrie synergize well with that AR type.
These Attributes are:

• Domain Resonance (related to [World Star](#👶beginner-help message]))
• Omniscient Star (related to [Rite of Oblivion](#👶beginner-help message))
• Harmonized Shadow Star (related to [Wheel of Destiny](#👶beginner-help message))

for example, I assume you're in exalted right? this boss is ice benares, you should be able to clear with absolutely no problem using HoH, Senadina, and Lantern because sena and lantern are two examples with the Harmonized Shadow Star tag

if you're struggling to score 800+ with that in Agony 2 it's a rotation problem and you should record + send your gameplay

Typically the “f2p standard” for a character is S0+1, that is, them and their signature weapon but no dupes. This is enough to get 90% of the PvP crystals available and occasionally branch into Nirvana, the highest tier of PVP, if you are interested in meta.

Typically, a character can still be used as a support without their weapon (albeit a little worse)

you do want to clear out the fights every week for participation "challenge" rewards (100 crystals and source prism)

ranking isn't important. You don't really get anything notable from it (more ancient willpower)

Ai-chan recommends that you keep the box until you have a use case for one of the weapons. Both Purana Phantasma and Nocturnal Stealth have their uses. Key of Ego is generally not recommended.

If you insist on opening the box immediately, Purana is likely to have more usage long-term due to the team tdm buff and RC being able to quickly debuff enemies which may be useful for SS MA.

Free 20 rolls for FWS kiana is fine

spending crystals or pink/blue cards on carnival would be questionable:

• since you're still missing XDC's weapon, that's top priority. Signature weapons are generally very important. 30-40% personal damage and sometimes they have notable utility.
• Carnival is full of reruns. Why pay the full cost for a rerun valk that isn't used as much or wouldn't last as long?
  • crystal income for f2p/light spenders is limited where you may not even afford every new release which are already most important. Very difficult to justify a rerun
• carnival does not carry pity over. If you go halfway and it goes away, you lose all those built up pulls basically.
  however,
• carnival does end sooner than mei's banner. if you anticipate gaining enough crystals for both fws valk and mei's weapon assuming full pity worst case, maybe you can prioritize fws first.
• next patch ||does not seem to offer support roles for mei dps. So you'll be going for extended periods without a well functioning Mei leader||
  • mei will support ||SW dps at least. We also will be getting a free senadina for this too||
• if you do get fws, she doesn't need her weapon. Her dps scenarios are rare now so we don't care about her personal damage. She supports mostly well without it. The main thing she loses is resonance damage that's relevant to world star ring types, but she can still be well appreciated without it early on (fast and lots of utility of her own).

Characters under the Astral Ring System will have one ring type (Specialization), and one or multiple tags (Attributes) that will determine how they can form teams. This system is only activated if a Character with Astral Ring is set as the leader. When activated:

• the leader's ring type will decide the team's playstyle.
• the team will benefit from effects (e.g., Stigmata buffs) that require Astral Ring.
• the team will gain access to Stellar Outburst, a high damage output state you can enter after charging enough energy (Astral Ring Intensity).

ok see how much crystals you can accumulate before FWS reruns go away in carnival. If you can full guarantee her (70 rolls when excluding the 20 free rolls) then you can consider going for her (not long term meta efficient but next patch is looking awkward so it's up to personal preference there)

i'm not going to tell you a straight number because there's frankly way too many sources in this game and you just have to know where to get your crystals from

bottom link are time sensitive. top link are permanently available and one time only that you can get at any time

but sometimes you may prioritize the top link more if you're short on time for a banner rather than some event that makes you spend hours for only less than 2 pulls even if it's time limited

mostly use AE imaginons to exchange for them in the asterite shop

• ae imags are mostly farmed from open world or even expeditions (only do the acts that totals to 60 stamina across all attempts. the other lesser costs aren't guaranteed to drop)

starter event is definitely a good limited time place to get it from

elysian realm shop is fine too but you don't get too many there. It's like 3 or so per patch

armada terminal is also fine if you have enough to afford it there (tbh i don't truly know how efficient it is in raw value here)

Free Stigmata Boxes

Hey, Captain!

In Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2, most new Valkyries will have a Stigma Option box given for free! But when should you use them?

If you are pulling for the corresponding weapon, you should open the box AFTER you have 2 different pieces of that stigmata set already. These stigma boxes are optimally used to finish a stigmata set. This also applies to Part 1 stigmata boxes, if you have any.

If you...

• Obtained the weapon before you got at least 2 stigmata set pieces, stop pulling! Open the box to get the best piece and then craft any missing stigmata (you can find these in Foundry).
• Already got the full stigmata set before the weapon (there are high chances that you did), keep the box as a collectible or open it, select a random stigma and salvage it for Source Prism.
• Are skipping or have skipped the corresponding weapon but want to get the Stigmata set, open the box first for the best piece then craft the other two via Foundry.
• Skipped the weapon and do not intend to craft the Stigmata set, you have no urgent reason to open the box, so keep it.

Regarding Bronya: N-EX, you can open the box once you own T or B and use it to finish TB. M is not BiS on SW.

this one lets you take any prism stig and max it out. Obviously best to use it on something not upgraded at all yet (lv 1/35)

so for now just keep it until you get a future new stig you need to upgrade

How to find "Covenant of Finality"

Part 2 of the Main Story will unlock at level 30. Both "Covenant of Finality" and "Genealogical Seat" are part of this storyline.

i have no clue about the level but XDC doesn't match well as a leader with that roster

you can use her as a non leader to support senadina though

story progression isn't really too demanding, or they force you to trials anyway

but for side content like that, the trial sena team might be fine but you may also need enhancements confined within those story chapters (the enhancements don't apply anywhere else in the game)

Gacha valks can solo it easily if fully built but at level 51 I would use the trial team

sena is a weird one since she goes between basic and weapon alot

refer to her ingame tutorial (attack > events tab > tactics class. Alternatively valk > sena > tutorial at top right. Do not use guide button or follow ingame recommendations. The info there gets out of date fast)

or just do one sequence slowly while paying attention to her flashing indicators on the buttons on the lower right

yeah it's more for early stage beginners

when you first start in the game, the dorm supply (standard banner eq) has a pity of 25 before giving you an S rank valk. This happens for the first two S ranks before it goes to 100 rolls to give you an S rank

the idea of the advice is to wait until those are done so you can minimize your odds of getting a dupe early

do note dorm supply is NOT worth spending crystals on.
