Stellar Drain is a mechanic where using specific attacks to hit an enemy can restore a large amount of Astral Ring Intensity ([ARI](#👶beginner-help message)).
However, each Character on the team only gets 1 stack of Stellar Drain and can only consume their own stack. This stack is restored across the team when entering battle or exiting Stellar Outburst (SO).
Normally the amount of ARI generated by consuming Stellar Drain is 20 if the Character has the matching attribute for that team. When the Character does not have the matching attribute for that team they usually restore 10 ARI. (for more info on team building, view [!faq ring](#👶beginner-help message)).

• Note that:
• Stellar Drain stacks are NOT visible
• Stellar Drain stacks can NOT exceed 1 per Character
• when attacking an enemy, the game may register your attack as a hit even if you don't see any actual damage numbers; this may be because the enemy is hidden or non-targetable
• the amount of ARI generated can also be affected by weapon passives/Character skills
• Characters may have multiple ways to consume Stellar Drain; for example, FWS can consume Stellar Drain with her CA and her enhanced WA

i think what they mean is that they used the old p1 forging system that you can forge any weapon into the pri arm of another weapon as long as they are the same weapon type, given you own the base version of the pri arm you want to forge.
idt it's necessarily bad to do that with 3rd sacred relic but it's not like you could do anything with a level 50 HoO sig either

actually let me ask what kind of personal goals do you have for the game? Because working on HoO's signature PRI ARM and having a maxed out 3rd sacred relic is quite unusual for general players.

The advice we generally give are to do better against other players in abyss to get more crystals (meta), but this doesn't have to be the only way you play the game. If you have any not so meta goals, we can adjust to help with that too

ok that sounds meta. You can realistically eventually achieve Red Lotus retention consistently even as f2p if you follow advice here.

Stay away from Sushang rerun. Even if a rerun is recent, the general problems with them are

• new releases are most important. They generally last longer and are more relevant to the different cycles of abyss you see in a patch than older valkyries.
• After the patch ends, a valk's use case goes down over time, so getting them as a rerun means you won't get as much use out of them short term and long term
• if you're f2p you already don't have the crystal income to get every new release with average luck (which should be expected long term), so you don't even have room to consider reruns

(All new valks are multifunctional as a dps or as a support now)

• a signature weapon can be 30-40% of their personal damage
• and some signature weapons can have important utility that they need to operate properly

So always aim to get both valk and their weapon together. At worst this can cost roughly 40k crystals

there are no more farmable valks in the game now. Every patch is an S rank gacha only release.

Stigmata are now craftable at worst. The only gacha exclusive equipment is the weapon at 60 rolls. Once you get the weapon you can stop.

Team building is different now too for newer valkyries.

You may recall older teams being focused on specific elements like a lightning team (e.g., Herrscher of Thunder dps with Eden and Herrscher of Truth supports)

However newer valks have a new system called astral ring which gives them ring types, and also tags. Team construction revolves entirely around this.

A support that matches the team will buff all damage types now. No need to worry as much about looking for a lightning support.

As mentioned before, all newer valks are multipurpose. Put them as leader and that is the dps. Put them as non leader and they are a support.

btw the advice i was giving earlier does prepare for safety and worst case scenarios so you aren't getting messed up badly by bad luck

average luck for getting valk and weapon is more like 30k crystals but it's not unreasonable to get worse than average luck. I told you to prepare 40k

so while there is a gacha component to the game, any good luck is more treated like a bonus this way. There's no 50/50 when reaching the high rarity/pity either.

Free Stigmata Boxes

Hey, Captain!

In Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2, most new Valkyries will have a Stigma Option box given for free! But when should you use them?

If you are pulling for the corresponding weapon, you should open the box AFTER you have 2 different pieces of that stigmata set already. These stigma boxes are optimally used to finish a stigmata set. This also applies to Part 1 stigmata boxes, if you have any.

If you...

• Obtained the weapon before you got at least 2 stigmata set pieces, stop pulling! Open the box to get the best piece and then craft any missing stigmata (you can find these in Foundry).
• Already got the full stigmata set before the weapon (there are high chances that you did), keep the box as a collectible or open it, select a random stigma and salvage it for Source Prism.
• Are skipping or have skipped the corresponding weapon but want to get the Stigmata set, open the box first for the best piece then craft the other two via Foundry.
• Skipped the weapon and do not intend to craft the Stigmata set, you have no urgent reason to open the box, so keep it.

Regarding Bronya: N-EX, you can open the box once you own T or B and use it to finish TB. M is not BiS on SW.

• HoFi herself is lacking the M piece. Can maybe use Bastet M to see if 30% total damage is better than what Zhaojun M's effect (10% fire and 5s 10% total damage. HoFi might be able to use it on both swap ins for a team rotation?)

• with HoTr or LV for team breach
• pick one of Fischl, Valkyrie blastmetal Coralie, Reverist Calico for the last support

HoV dps

• Ekaterina M, Atilla B
  • Susannah Overtime T (time capsule next patch)
  • Marco Polo T.
  • Maybe Jingwei T if solo enemy if that's cheaper than marco.
• HoS support
  • not having any sp restoration glove means you need to use her spear hold attack to impair (not as strong as her ult) on some rotations
  • if hotr is not used then move zaychik TB here. This set might not be so good if you can't ult every cycle though. When you enter ult you have to hold attack for one hit for 2pc effect before swapping off.
  • Theresa Gluttony T, Shattered Swords b otherwise.
• TA (terminal aide/prometheus) support
  • Theresa Origins 3pc
  • or Fu Hua Musician TM and Ogier B
  • you have shuijing B but it won't work too well here

I'll try to come up with a few more but they may not be as detailed

if HoO is busy with hofi's team and you need a lightning dps then...

• LV > get oath of judah from exchange shop
  or
• HoT > get 7 thunders of retribution from reserve works bp shop
  both of these weapons are divine keys that give your account +10 atk permanently passively for all valks. So it's not waste to get them

for supports

• LV support for HoT dps
• HoTr support for LV dps
• fischl, VBm coralie, or Pardo for the last slot

Immutable Crystallums

Hey there, Captain!

Crystallums are a Battle Pass Currency that can be exchanged for Valkyries and Equipment in the Reserve Works. Captains who purchase Knight or Paladin BP can also access the BP Works of that patch for 3 versions.

There are 3 BP tiers offering different amounts of Crystallums as follows:
-# The totals below account for the 2 Crystallums in the Dorm Shop.

• Vanguard (F2P) BP: 5 per patch
• Knight BP: 18 per patch
• Paladin BP: 24 per patch

It is recommended to spend your Crystallums on Divine Keys that you have yet to collect for permanent account-wide ATK bonuses. See the list [here](#👶beginner-help message).

and LV ||will get a new set next patch that only costs 60 rolls at worst||

even if they are compatible it means effectively nothing if they're not used anymore. Keep in mind these teams are going to be short term until you get newer stuff

meanwhile even if they're not actively used, dkeys giving a passive bonus still makes them good to have

honestly i expect your account to be mostly in agony 1 or 2 for now. Even if you have Trio at its old highest potential (no stellar key) it'll still be very lacking by today's standards.

also i see you have some Silverwing stuff but she's not a very notable valk even at her prime, she's missing gear (her best m piece is actually hotr's m piece but you don't have that either), and the gear you do have aren't levelled already. So i rather you save your materials

If you need an ice dps, use HoTr leader with some combination of VBm coralie, RC, and/or Shigure Kira as supports (edit: normally Jade knight Sushang will be considered but she badly wants an sp restoring glove which you do no not have)

anyway we went through alot of details just now but let's take a step back and ascertain your overall priorities

• get some old teams up and running with what you already have. Don't spend anything valuable for them since they'll just fall off (e.g. crystallum). You won't do well but do what you can for now
• save up crystals until 17k for LV ||dkey|| and/or 40k for a new valk release with her weapon (mei next patch, or any new release after that patch)
• familiarize yourself with new changes. Mainly
  • team building with astral ring
  • gacha changes, mainly weapon banner

If your goal is meta you’re probably better off making a new account unless you have a lot of pulls or pity. If you want to salvage it though that’s also possible

It’ll just take a while because you’re basically starting from scratch with fewer resources

though valks dont really need to become a support once they become old, it really depends on the valk itself in what niche they are being pushed in with time.

some valks also already have a heavy emphasize on their supportive capabilities once they come out and have a rather niche DPS scenario for example
though this is really only important in nirv most of the time, often times you are fine with a functional team of the shilled DPS in RL, maybe even of a DPS that's not shilled depending on the weather

the other main change to be aware of when coming back is regarding team building with the new astral ring system. Old team building revolves mostly around damage elements (lightning dps with lightning supports) but that's not really the case under the new system.

Instead all newer valks have both of the following:

• one ring type
• generally multiple tags
  and team building revolves around matching the ring type of the leader <---> tags of the supports
  any newer valk can be a leader or dps depending on how they are placed on the team and if they match

Characters under the Astral Ring System will have one ring type (Specialization), and one or multiple tags (Attributes) that will determine how they can form teams. This system is only activated if a Character with Astral Ring is set as the leader. When activated:

anyway this faq can cover it in detail. For new mei in particular, she is Grail of Infinitude ring type. This ring type wants symbiosis tagged supports. Main gimmick of this ring type is to restore sp to use ults often.

this is very foundational and normally i tell returnees/new players to really digest this before moving forward

but if you can grasp new Mei's ring type and what other units matches with her, that's all I ask for your focuses and purposes

Anyway for underdeveloped players, this system becomes an awkward hurdle to get over. There aren't farmable symbiosis units. So getting enough gacha valks to fully build an astral ring team takes a while.

Especially when a full valk and her weapon can cost ~40k crystals each. This is the amount you want to reserve for Mei.

This is kind of where the free luna comes in. ||Similar to HoFi, she will be getting a new weapon that gives her new astral ring properties including symbiosis tag. The cost of just a weapon is only ~17k crystals or 60 rolls at worst. She's not amazing at supporting Mei but she'll serve well enough for non-highest tiers of the game. However beware luna's banner ends sooner than mei's. You can view the calendar in #🔮cn-gameplay-discussion pins.||

If you cannot get enough crystals where getting ||luna early will compromise fully getting mei+her own weapon, then consider skipping luna's weapon. But this is something you'll have to plan ahead for.||

you can always get symbiosis supports later in other ways/with other valks.

anyway last thing i'll mention is that we will get a bunch of reruns next patch called carnival.
Normally reruns are NOT recommended but since you're mei focused and not meta, it may not matter as much to you.

What's notable about carnival is that we get 20 free tickets to roll on any valk of its duration. Ofc rates are still the same and odds are still low.

Pity also does not carry over to anything after carnival ends. Normally we do NOT recommend dumping crystals here.

and tbh i prob still wouldn't recommend it when you're already busy with mei and ||luna||

anyway all i want to say is with the 20 free rolls, you can try chancing upon FWS kiana or FDD coralie who have symbiosis.

so technically you're behind on hofi in terms of gears. She got a new set (the stigs are craftable but they need the weapon to work. Don't bother chasing after them now)

You prob will want this down the line since it's a huge support buff to HoO dps.

i will warn you meta wise, hofi's dkey was the first of the bunch and is quite dated and not as useful now.

• new rita and new durandal are img typing and overshadows some of hofi's coverage in abyss but also with the weapon's age, hofi's niches just don't show up often anymore.
  • New rita is lightning and essentially replaces HoO main dps too.
• hofi has astral ring support roles but this is prob largely irrelevant to you:
  • can support world star teams but alternatives are plentiful
  • for supporting Rite of Oblivion leader teams, she still stands strongly but this is still just a niche

knight is actually ok for crystal income and other things

paladin is kinda excessive and mainly only to consider for the avatar frame if you want it

generally the main thing to value for crystallums are to get divine keys you don't have yet since these can be integrated into your dorm menu for passive atk bonuses on all your valks

but for your purposes it might more depend

if you want your mei's to hit as hard as they can, then you'll care about these small +10 atks that do add up collectively

but if for non-long term and non-high meta purposes, maybe just neglect these for actual functional changes

so you can keep HoO stamps on the table. It really depends on what ranks you can reach with them. But keep in mind HoO stamps can be obtained via ER as you said, but also Pure Witch Orb shop. You may even get stamps from all of these sources.

but in the meantime do consider Eden stuff as gurdil mentioned.

Hi, Captain!

After successfully upgrading an S-Rank Valkyrie to SSS, the "Pure Witch Orb" section of the Witch's Corridor shop will be unlocked. Like normal Witch Orbs, any more fragments you obtain from this Valkyrie can be converted into Pure Witch Orbs (pwo) via Equip > Fragments > Convert (above Salvage, bottom right).

Conversions:

• S-rank valk frag => 50 pwo
• S-rank Awakening valk frag => 30 pwo

Here, you can buy stamps shown in the image below as well as Wafer Stabilizers (Affix lockers), Wafer Dataflows, and individual old S-Rank fragments. New stamps gradually get added to this shop.

The recommendation is account dependent; typically the newest stamps are worth considering if ranks on that Valkyrie benefit you competitively. Affix locks are a valid choice if you are desperately pushing for highly competitive affix lines. If you're not sure, hold onto your pwo for now and ask for advice!

Not recommended for the cheap and long term.
• can always get other symbiosis later down the line
• find an opportunity for hofi's dkey rerun (17k crystals at worst) to support HoO mainly

as for what teams to use for now

• herrscher trio
• hoo main dps (can keep herrscher trio but with hoo dps, or drop hofi since she has no dkey and use anyone else that makes sense like eden)
  • eden really wants her signature weapon to skip performing some of her slow attacks for support effects. She also really wants SSS rank to debuff enemies on paralysis
  • for budget purposes maybe consider sticking with hofi (full trio makes hoo loses her ult but hotr's own ult will be cheaper to keep team breach effect up), or use VBm coralie, RC pardo, fischl
• HoT dps (your 7 thunders katana is only lv 10 though but i would imagine you would max this eventually)
  • similar supports to HoO. If they conflict in arena then you're just going to need to allocate. Additional options can include LV for lightning breach (technically better than HoTr iirc but yours is prob behind due to lack of gears)
• new mei will be ||physical||. If you don't have proper astral ring supports you can use VBm along with RC, TA (prometheus), or maybe HoS (new mei might have her own impair though)

• can consider HoTr operates as a leader (her personal independent multipliers are in her leader skill) ice dps with VBm, RC, Kira, or Jade Knight Sushang supports. While this takes away from your other teams, LV can serve as lightning support instead.

i can prob cook up other teams but you don't seem to have much other things built and i rather you conserve resources for future stuff

for meta players, they would want to get stamps of old valks that still have niche meta cases to not fall behind

tbh i think it's kinda normal for an older or secondary best team to still perform ok or even well in red lotus when well invested. Heck I even t1'd some sirin weather with vita when i dropped to RL long ago.

I think it's still important and fair of you to acknowledge and be proud of such feats though. But I just wouldn't consider it necessarily revolutionary or something unexpected to prove against others lol

Characters under the Astral Ring System will have one ring type (Specialization), and one or multiple tags (Attributes) that will determine how they can form teams. This system is only activated if a Character with Astral Ring is set as the leader. When activated:

• the leader's ring type will decide the team's playstyle.
• the team will benefit from effects (e.g., Stigmata buffs) that require Astral Ring.
• the team will gain access to Stellar Outburst, a high damage output state you can enter after charging enough energy (Astral Ring Intensity).

it's just overbearing at times and I always run out of LITE tickets
but yeah with enough patience it's manageble
the game is not horrible just... demanding it terms of said consistency

its such a vicious cycle too, I need xtals to pull stuff but to get xtals I need units

and units need xtals

I just quit before getting all of the stuff

and the stuff I got was useless

9-week patches (on average) allow one to afford more stuff

my issue is that the powercreep in this game is rather suffocating and disallows to use the characters you actually enjoy playing for various reasons

never stayed in the Redlotus for too long

cuz some weather just bullied me

and I simply didn't have the DPS

Agony 3 is not exactly pleasant either

the most I can manage is Agony 1-2 comfortably (for the most part)
