again both of these are reruns so their dps scenarios are not as common anymore (peaks on their debut patch).

Therefore trying to spend 17k crystals or 60 rolls to catch up on their weapon to cover their dps scenarios (30-40% damage loss compared to their next alternatives) is arguably wasteful compared to getting a weapon on a new release (getting a weapon rerun is probably less dps weather mileage in the long run, although not all valks are the same).

F2p or light spending income can't keep up with all new releases (and in some very developed cases may want to hyper focus on specific newer things instead)

i know you asked about support but just want to get that out of the way first

because the weapons do have support aspects too that you're going to be missing out on

for both fws and fdd, their weapon's support aspects are passive. They're not important for their gameplay flow or for any specific utility.

• 20% TDM might arguably be chunky but TDM also is kind of plentiful in many cases too

and part of FDD's appeal is that she provides breach state to the team making her one of the stronger supports numerically at a top level. However without this weapon she will likely fall behind compared to other things which makes her lose her point

so FDD and FWS is 100% overall damage (column more on the right) vs
mini dudu and hohe which is 87% overall damage. That's kinda roughly matching the loss of the FDD weapon

but you can also see changing any one of those supports doesn't lose too much otherwise. Maybe 5% or something. As long as the support matches the leader, usually you don't drop that harshly. For RL (redlotus abyss tier) and below, this is usually enough

numbers aren't everything at the end of the day though. what's important is speed and maybe specific applications

FDD has RoO ring type which is pretty uncommon. RoO leader teams tend to want only RoO valks so having FDD can make building future RoO dps teams easier. (In your case you already have other RoO valks so this doesn't matter as much for you)

FDD in general can hold on to her ult ahead of time (as long as her enh weapon active hits something). This can be useful for rebuffing in the middle of a boss transition. (e.g. Sa boss)

Having easy access to her ult can also make it friendly for GoI teams that lets you refresh leader cooldowns with it (although in an optimized fight you shouldn't be relying on such ease of use)

and lastly FDD has ignite utility, as well as passives that allows status from other members of the team be applied from their ults or something. This has been well used on Sampo and Paros from my memory.

overall most valks in WT are not worthwhile for meta abyss purposes (HoHE is currently the main thing to considered as said but expect her to be niche at this point, and only consider if you already have her gacha dkey weapon)

they're still valuable for ER, dorm squad passive bonuses, and dorm errands (SS ranks), as well as getting fragments above cap for pure witch orb shop but none of these are major priority to go out of your way for. Don't compromise your account and priorities doing so

So FWS compared to FDD covers WS support instead of RoO. She's actually normally one of the better supports for it (however lacking the weapon may compromise this, esp when you have other lucrative options like vita, hofi, hle, xdc?)

another obvious appeal is her SD typing.

• Her weapon active provides a very easy and fast way to gather sd shards on the field. You can even cancel it as soon as you cast it with stuff like ult or swapping.
• Landing the weapon active on an SD enemy also depletes 8% max hp. This only works once per hp bar. This utility is exclusive only to FWS for now, and is one reason how she finds her way into teams alongside other SD valks

FWS' animations are relatively fast.

• She still needs to wait for an enemy to appear on field to do anything though (attacks need to hit).
• She offers an alternative way to trigger her stellar drain. Instead of the full meter enhanced weapon animation that's long, she can just hold attack. This animation has a bit of a start up but that start up can be prepared early so it hits as soon as the enemy is available.
• The hold attack/enh weap (combo attacks) are one way to trigger her stig 3pc buff. QTE hitting also works which is pretty fast.
• For GoI, her cycle is pretty fast too. Usually just QTE + ult (but most other symbiosis valks are similar). It does get awkward if you need more sp and need to do enh weapon as a result iirc?

oh lastly XDC does have specific effects that having FWS on the team enables. None of these are very active but rather are just passive to make FWS one of her better options. I don't really know how it compares without weapon but when a big part of weapon is the resonance damage, it might be something you can get away with

Beware FWS is older than FDD. She was the prev cny valk so she's one year older by now and may fall off sooner (at least for dps but that's not what's the point here).

Should I Pull AstralOps?

NOO CAPTAIN!

If you are a f2p meta player, you should not pull gacha AstralOps - only players who are retaining or trying to retain Nirvana should consider it if they have the funds (unlikely for f2p players).

Reasons:

• Dreamseeker is good enough despite being free.
• Too expensive, especially if they need SS (~20-30k).
  • AstralOps have the same cost as a gacha weapon, therefore pulling one may result in being unable to afford a Valkyrie's weapon down the line (for meta players, this means skipping said Valkyrie entirely).
• The damage and score increase they provide in Redlotus and below is often minimal and not needed to retain.

the reason why i'm stressing any of this so much is because

• valks are costly. they can cost up to 90 rolls or roughly 26k crystals which is more than what f2p can make in a single patch. Rerolling to brute force a valk cost to near zero is actually a nice step into things but the process is cumbersome and not for everyone. Can be 15 minutes per attempt
• The game has moved away from releasing new farmables. However the new team building system with astral ring wants multiple, usually recent valks together. This makes it very awkward for fresh players since they can't use the full potential of a single gacha valk until they get more.

It's not unfeasible but it takes alot of work. It's not for everyone to rush in a short period.

Do prioritize limited time crystals though (second link in crystal faq)

BiS team is a common phrase but it's honestly a big misconception. HI3 late game features multiple specific scenarios that you counterpick to. So there can be multiple specific BiS teams across these. The difference between most best options usually aren't that significant either (maybe 5-10%) making it incredibly costly to go after all of them (exceptions are mainly due to fight specific utility/interactions, like lets say a valk provides high hitcount against a boss' hitcount shield). A new meta focused but f2p/light spending player shouldn't focus on them but instead focus on new releases that also overlap in these roles, even if they are not the best.

for main purposes of a f2p meta player, you're more aiming to get something good enough even if it's not the best. Loosely speaking this mainly means keeping up with just new releases (getting both valk and weapon together when you save enough to safely guarantee them). No need for dupes.

Because your crystal budget in the long term is limited, there's arguably no room for spending crystals on reruns and older stuff even if they are best or stay best. Other options down the road will last longer and can be good enough

if you're willing to reroll and want to focus on mei, my suggestion will be a bit more intermediate of these ideas though. I will tell you to reroll for an older valk because right now is easier to do so. Then use early crystals to secure mei and her weapon.

Data suggests that it does exist (starting at 76 pulls), but it is not confirmed anywhere by HoYoverse so we can't be 100% sure.

the more intermediate consideration is to use this patch's carnival or starter banner to reroll for a support for mei to use (ideally she gets two though but for now we can aim for one)

then get crystals normally for mei and weapon

you seem to be having fixations on specific valks but tbh for most intents and purposes i'm only going to care that you have the supports with the right tags to match the ring type of the leader

for specific valk considerations, that needs a specific cycle and context. Like lets say PS support to deal with high hitcount or bleed trauma

and otherwise loosely speaking (but not always strictly) more recent valks are usually better but we can elaborate if you have anything specific in mind

I believe HotR is the oldest battlesuit still used in abyss without dlc gear and it’s about 3.5 years old? As a BiS option I mean, some other stuff can cope weathers

We mostly don’t advise investing in older battlesuits but that’s not because none of them see use

It’s because F2P players have limited crystal and material income

So it doesn’t make sense to invest heavily in someone who only has say a year left when you could get someone with three years

anyway for any wheel leader, you would look at any shadow star tag supports. So JDS, Vita, and Sena are also all possible candidates in addition to lantern/hohe themselves if not used as leader

note some new players only look at ring types, and this technically works because any valk having a ring type will also have their own tag

however doing it this way excludes other viable options where a valk may not have the ring type but still has the tag (e.g. vita is RoO ring type but still has shadow star tag)

or sena having world star ring type but still having shadow star tag

for any p2 valk, you have one ring type which basically means they dps as a leader in one way

but they have multiple tags meaning they can be used as supports for multiple different teams

So as far as WoD leaders go, ideally you test them all but ofc this is unreasonable so i'll give some pointers for supports

Breach is still emphasized but tbh can be roughly close to other non breach options nowadays.

Sena

• breach. Can visualize buff above hp bar. Refreshes from and after outburst
• doesn't need to swap in at all (you might still do this to drop a quick ult. Turn off QTE for her if so).
• don't swap her in at the start of the fight or you'll lose her prismatic stars effect which is a separate hidden buff (idr the exact details)
• because her buff goes off automatically, for extended fights/fights with transitions you might run into awkward downtime of no buffs if you can't get extra ARI in some way

Vita

• also breach. if breach already exists then she converts it into something else. This breach is induced more manually from her ult
• unlike most p2 valks, her main team effect is from her ult
• a bit slow but can restores extra ARI from her first CA before outburst if she has her weapon
• has abyssal energy stacks to restore a bit more ARI too but this usually isn't used fully so i'll leave it aside for now

the rest will prob be alot shorter

JDS

• buffs on QTE hitting mainly
• provides utility against SD enemies of triggering their critical threshold early. Not relevant for this case

Lantern

• not notable really. High hitcount

HoHE

• not notable either. Fast to apply but weaker. has aim weakpoint utility against tank but irrelevant here.

Can also be used individually as slot filler.

Margrave 2pc with B
Paganini M or B if needed as slot filler (2pc needs charged attack which is irrelevant to HoS. B wants it too but can use ult as an alt condition)
Cezanne B (newt b is prob better since you can trigger that again off field in a rotation)
Zaychik TB (2pc wants herrscher mode > combo attack. So HoS enters ult > hold atk for one hit)
MEI (hit with ult. B piece wants it to hit against a shield or shield broken enemy but i don't think this applies to this boss)

she can also put on full HoTr stigs too and from there only swap in early to do one weapon active, then swap back. The dps from there must periodically use the weapon active to keep the buff up.

She was best for WoD on release but overtime saw less use in favor of other options

the fight does have a big hitcount shield at the end so maybe try lantern dps

esp when lantern has the type advantage but lantern is considerably old so don't let this be a complete basis of picking her if you are to get future new releases to use

type advantage is only a separate 30% or so multiplier

I may have told you this yesterday (idr either. maybe someone else) but the ARI regen on SS songque after outburst is usually significant for any fight where you would opt for outbursting twice.

Otherwise damage wise there can be a difference across the two options that matter (i vaguely heard of kia4 being better than ss songque once but idk the exact example) but the difference is alot smaller and I think the ARI regen mentioned earlier is much more sigificant when it comes into play.

-# Herrscher Trio also had moments where it may opt for kia or songque depending on how proportional the account is to the fight (husk existentialism) but this was back before theresa and chenxue existed and no longer applicable now.

Check spending event guide in the pins too. Also check wyverein's video and you can occasionally see astral op comparisons in various contexts to get an idea of damage of ss songque vs 4* kiana elf (not every situation matches the same way though so don't read into any testing too strictly)

Also note in general ELFs have less starting ARI than even dreamseeker. So they're mainly considered when you need slightly more outburst damage but don't need to rush into outburst.

Breach and impair interact with each other but they both reduce the DEF set so they become less effective when reducing an already reduced DEF stat
In that case XDC would reduce the DEF stat by 55% so if the enemy has 100 DEF he'd then have 45, now vita would reduce that 45 DEF by 29% which would then result in a ~32 DEF stat or be equal to a 68% impair.

generally having impair in their stigmata 3pc is rather common for p2 phys units

at a high level, every unit has very specific uses and the game cycles across these scenarios quite rapidly. This is how they keep a wide cast relevant.

This might sound overwhelming for a newer player to get into, but new players shouldn't expect to catch up on anything in particular. Just start from somewhere and maintain income from there, picking up new things (valk+weap together) when you can. Eventually the old falls off and you'll overlap right into the meta that way

in the meantime competition has various tiers and you'll wind up where it fits you. We recommend the competition because a good amount of crystals are given there to keep your gacha rolls going. Lower tiers are naturally more lax letting not as optimal things be successful for lesser payout.

The main goal of redlotus tier (semi-highest) is actually quite lax in the grand scheme of things and is very realistic for f2ps to reach

Typically you get 1 a week from MA and then more than that only from events / battlepass / pulling extra stigs / story chapters

Yes, just ended up losing a lot of dps time on the arms when using supports, you can probably sequence it properly so you don't lose a lot of time to switch cooldown but I couldn't find the timing.

No exp gain is proportional to stamina usage so unless you aren't using your stamina it is hard to go faster.
The important benchmark is hitting lvl 50 for weekly Elysian Realm.
