you can kind of think of astral ring as a toggle, which is turned on if a valk with a ring type is set as leader

once it's on you gain access to a bunch of astral ring only effects and mechanics, such as...

• stellar outburst
• the x/3 leader skills you mentioned
• some effects in the valk's skills or stigmatas specifically request for astral ring or some particular ring type
  etc

(there are effects that specifically want astral ring to be off too but those are less common nowadays as non astral ring teams are falling out of the meta)

if you still want an answer to this, i can help you but the better overall answer might be to focus on specific other valks instead depending on what you want to do in the game

we usually emphasize meta developments since you get a significant amount of crystals from abyss, where you compete against other players for higher scores and faster clears.

When showing your equipment, do it from the home/bridge menu > equipment > weapons and/or stigmata menus in the future. Mainly the ones we want to know are those with purple or gold backgrounds

at this point treat horb dkey as an entirely different unit

and the main benefit you're getting from it are the +10 atk since it's a dkey, and also horb's converage on dominance weathers. You already missed SK recently but tribunal is ongoing atm

no matter how best it is, the only non astral ring teams that remotely sees top abyss cycles are FoV and LV teams at this point

i was wondering if LV main dps can work if you have her but i haven't tested it yet

but yeah HoRb is the only part 2 valk with summons i believe. So this weather heavily favors her with not much close alternatives

still though, this is only one cycle. There prob will be future dominance cycles but we may not expect them to be as common either (or at least you can try to think of HoFi and HoHE's history but this isn't a true prediction)

my main concern with spending the crystals for horb here is she may not be of much value outside of her dps cases and the +10 atk, and those potentially 60 rolls may be better allocated elsewhere if cost is a concern (f2p/light budget)

but if you're spender, endgame player (where small atk gains matter more), big seele fan, or are just really interested in horb's specific niche then i think any of those can be valid reasons to go for it

going back to past similar examples,

• hofi was quite worth it since on top of her main dps use cases, she supported hoo main dps and world star very well so she saw many uses that way
• hohe was relatively more lackluster, but still has a niche against tank for targetting its weakpoint, and tank showed up for various teams (lantern dps for shadow star weather, fws dps for flux weather, etc)
• horb... if her dps use cases declines in a few months idk what else she's going to offer. I haven't seen anything remarkable for her supporting world star or grail teams

ultimately i can't guarantee anything. for all i know, maybe they'll spam dominance weathers the next few patches (the fanbase will prob riot hard if so though since nobody likes that weather lol)

there's one more consideration i have actually. HoRb can apply impair as a support. All phys valks in p2 so far have been self sufficient on impair loosely speaking

but maybe horb will be the start of them releasing valks with no self impair and will need to rely on horb to provide it. Maybe you can consider a rerun for that but at that point it's also difficult to justify

Yes. I think all valks pretty much need their sig weapon to be competitive.

what kind of role are you using her for?

normally what cornario said is true. A signature weapon can be 30-40% of a valk's personal damage if you're using them as a main dps (any astral ring valk can take a dps or support role nowadays)

and in some cases the weapon can have utility that are important in some way

in the case of FWS, her weapon does provide a brief time stop after her stellar shift (outburst), but this only happens as a leader (dps only)

as a support, her personal damage may not be as meaningful and she doesn't have much other utility so it's actually kinda fine to use FWS as purely support if you lack her weapon

furthermore the way you're getting this weapon nowadays is only with crystals. But meta wise it's more recommended to spend crystals for new releases that are more relevant and possibly longer lasting in the meta.

FWS is kinda recent but it's already been a few patches. Her dps use cases aren't as common anymore so pulling for her weapon now is arguably not as efficient for your crystals.

if you have spare tickets, they are best saved not spent as soon as you have them
unless you require a specific valk/weapon you arent forced to pull

astralops are only worth chasing if you have competitive goals. however it is your decision on an end to decide what you want to pull or not, keep in mind that astral ops are limited in gameplay as they can only support a specific ring (unlike ds who you get for free simply playing p2 story who can slot into every ring)

just make sure you make an informed decision

No it is how team building for P2 valks work. What it tells you is that the as a leader( first character in the team) the valk will set the astral ring to World star and it will want supports with the domain resonance tag.

p2 - part 2 just for reference

the main idea is that the stellar outburst (big blue F button) is the main damage source of p2 teams
to build a p2 team, you first have to look at the leader's ring type. Using hle as an example (the elysia in the event) she is in the grail of infinitude ring, and as such requires her teammates to have the symbiosis tag
if a unit has the World Star ring tag, she would need supports with the domain resonance tag

you can check ingame as well what a unit's ring type is, and what rings she can support

The button will always show up but only correct supports engage properly with the mechanics inside stellar outburst. For GoI that means they can regenerate SP for the team generally by pressing Weapon skill or Ult.

For World Star it means that they can either proc Resonance marks for damage or place them and they also get a enhanced attack in Stellar Outburst.

you're doing more than buffing there. The buffing is casting the ult to getting 3 stacks above your hp bar. (Using a weapon active that consumes a dot also does this)

meanwhile doing the weapon finisher and actually hitting the enemy is doing two other things

• debuffs the enemy
• consumes stellar drain if you haven't yet already

stellar drain is just a fancy name for restoring a ton of astral ring intensity (energy for the big blue button (outburst)). You can only do this once per valk until you cast outburst and start a new cycle of recharging outburst

no you're misunderstanding. You don't need to focus on activating every weapon category in the divine key menu.

You only care about that for specific ones that gives you more skills to upgrade for your gene limit. But 7 thunders isn't one of those.

but to get everything else (special skills and all other attribute skills), you just need one weapon of this category then you can upgrade this... area (bottom right)

consider getting sparkle's weapon too. One of her important functionalities (quantum collapse) is locked behind it. You can focus on rushing for crystals after you rerolled for sparkle.

even without beginner event you should still be able to achieve in the time we have left for her

if you're more casual though and only want sparkle on your bridge and not to actually use her, you can ignore the weapon. You don't really need to use your own stuff in the story.

(early on you will need to but barebone stuff can get by. Astral ring valks like sparkle won't be usable either)

oh btw @lone tide i forgot to bring this up earlier but here's an example of delaying the ult cast so it actually hits the enemy. This gains the 3 buff stacks, and debuffs the enemy in both ways. Not something to always do but something to consider.

(Also note how they weapon active before and after the ult, consuming the dots in their kinetic meter.)

usually it's not worth it because the ult costs time to cast. The ult also slows down enemy actions in the process (we call this suspended animations or susani. Great for Arena and maybe Q-manifold too but not so good if are waiting on the boss). So it's usually only ideal to cast it during the starting alarm when we're doing nothing anyway

but anyway that's a bit too advanced to think deeply about for now. Just now there can be situations to opt for a different kind of opener for VBm

The wording is not good, it means after tuning you cannot use it to craft other scythe pri-arms

Free Stigmata Boxes

Hey, Captain!

In Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2, most new Valkyries will have a Stigma Option box given for free! But when should you use them?

If you are pulling for the corresponding weapon, you should open the box AFTER you have 2 different pieces of that stigmata set already. These stigma boxes are optimally used to finish a stigmata set. This also applies to Part 1 stigmata boxes, if you have any.

If you...

• Obtained the weapon before you got at least 2 stigmata set pieces, stop pulling! Open the box to get the best piece and then craft any missing stigmata (you can find these in Foundry).
• Already got the full stigmata set before the weapon (there are high chances that you did), keep the box as a collectible or open it, select a random stigma and salvage it for Source Prism.
• Are skipping or have skipped the corresponding weapon but want to get the Stigmata set, open the box first for the best piece then craft the other two via Foundry.
• Skipped the weapon and do not intend to craft the Stigmata set, you have no urgent reason to open the box, so keep it.

Regarding Bronya: N-EX, you can open the box once you own T or B and use it to finish TB. M is not BiS on SW.

if you have to pick one now then sure get b. However you may consider holding your resources until you can craft multiple at once (at least T and B) and also making sure you have an actual important situation to use her in first.

but how do you plan on getting this? At this point hotr even at her highest potential sees little use and isn't really worth trying to spend the time and resources investing in.

yeah just leave the box alone for now

if you intend to roll then ideally you can use it to secure a last remaining piece if you don't get lucky with them all

but if you don't then down the line, you never know if you'll get some of these things in some other way (there's no precedent for stigs but hoyo can change patterns and trends) and if you're really desperate to get prisms and have no plans to use those stigs, then it's fine to just open it

Hello, Captain! Ai-chan is here to explain why keeping items is sometimes the best choice.

If you immediately use something without actually needing what it provides, you may put yourself at a disadvantage later on by wasting a source of materials that you fall short of down the line.

This applies to almost every irreversible material choice such as:

• Stigma Option boxes
• Material Option boxes
• Blazing Assembly Option (ELF Option box)
  • ELF Part Option boxes
• Weapon Option boxes (Divine Key or Beginner Weapon Option box)
• Salvaging non-duplicate Weapons/Stigmata
• Buying items using rare currencies (i.e., Supply Shop)

Before selecting something from an option box, salvaging gear, or buying materials, think twice if you actually need what is offered and if you really need it right now!

yeah for now. It's not great since VBs helia (keep in mind they have other forms now) has alot of lightning buffs but she does have one general elemental buff

you might consider dropping VBs helia despite the matching ring type for someone else like Pardofelis, Chrono Navi, HoTr if you pick her from the box. I'm not fully sure how all of these compare to each other.

Generally older non astral ring valks are less compatible since their supporting effects are only 15s whereas astral ring valks are 25s but sparkle can rotate within that time.

Helia meanwhile may not offer as much buffs and spends a great deal of time setting up anyway. Other options may be faster to set up (pardo or kira) or have more relevant supporting effects (maybe CN and/or HoTr)

Seele is your physical dps. (look up her tutorial if you don't know how to play her)
Theresa is your impair support (impairs by QTE or hold atk or ult) (impair greatly reduces the defense stat of the enemy which is what reduces your physical damage otherwise).

note the stage rewards you for keeping your combo count high. Try not to drop the combo count.

The enemy itself has two arms that you need to focus on breaking. If the fight extends too long then it'll summon a lightning attack that follows you. This attack really hurts so stay away until it's done and try to use bronya or theresa to hit at a range to keep your combo count.

for hotr i don't think there is anything notable to put on her. The main thing to keep in mind is that being weaponless means she doesn't give you an unlock (your meter) from weapon active casting. You need to compensate in some other way when playing her. The HoTr section of my HoHE HoTr box pin links a guide discussing this

anyway it's pretty normal for fresh new players to need to cope with some really jank stuff early on. Bear with it for now and focus on saving for whatever else you're interested in

if you want to know sparkle's ideal teammates, that's honestly a rabbit hole of case specifics, but some quick ones to generally consider are vita and both hofi and fws versions of kiana (not always ideal and i don't actually recommend investing on these)

but the real recommendation if you're trying to be meta is to not focus on specific bests, but instead to focus more on latest releases

and casually just focus more on who you like. Alot of alternative supports can be kinda close and good enough

Unfortunately, two of those characters had banners recently, so even if I wanted them, I'd have to wait months, I guess. I was interested in Vita, but I didn't have enough gems to guarantee her.
I plan to play casually but with a good team for the abyss and to get as many gems as possible in the other game modes.
And I'll ask you one last question for today: which stigmata should I equip Coralie and HoTr with? There are several to buy and others to forge. I only have blue stigmata for now.

Abyss isn't really something you can clear with one team btw. It changes alot more than in other hoyo games and each cycle favors a specific team. (you can glance at the schedule in #💁gameplay-help pins) F2p meta players want to keep up with latest releases as much as possible (not all of them but enough of them) to cover most of them well enough while the older meta falls off

Give one of them

• Theresa Gluttony T (foundry) or Ogier T
• Fu Hua Musician MB (starter manual)
• make this the one that swaps to sparkle directly after
  Give the other one Roald 3pc

also keep in mind sparkle is not only a dps. She has support roles for other teams too. (Look at her tags) but for now you can keep using her as a dps

I've seen someone getting a score less than 100 off in nirv (edit: nvm this was in RL) with hohe, hle, vita but this was a heavily invested team. Maybe it can scale similarly to RL but RL horb skills being higher doesn't exactly sound promising

maybe lantern main dps can be considered too but i expect this to be worse than hohe

do you have LV? maybe she can main dps too but she won't be able to handle the transition.

overall this is one of the more polarizing abyss cycles and it's fine to accept a loss here if you lack horb. Nothing else really has summon entities for astral ring

and depending on ur dmg u can choose to go turg instead of handel on eden

sometimes u might find that after hotr unlock weap, and then mech transform and then combo ult

that the eden qte might disappear

usually that's because the first unlock weap would activate eden qte alr

in that case, after mech transform combo
add eva then ult

and eden qte should be triggered again

as for transition, u just wait it out, can use this time to unlock bronya weap, and/or manually charge lv's weap so you refresh bleed

and the end there, if you have kia elf, you essentially let kia elf and lv do the grouping of the robots

in general, hohe's tag is wheel of destiny, so you would look for teammates with harmonised shadow star, or called something like that, this tag allows those astral units to support wheel of destiny

but as of now, the current units that have this tag are generally too old, where if you have limited resources and not looking to whel

its not recommended to pull simply because there's the argument that you're hurting your ability to get the newer releases on time

however || next patch we have rita which is wod so she can support your hohe ||

If youre competitive id rather skip her in favor of newer releases, but if you are insistent on getting her and are more of a casual player then you could try for her and pull weapon on a rerun (not recommended)

Yes, the issue is that they'll be stuck at lvl 35 with your current amount of Prisms (not including salvaging dupes), and you need to save Prisms for 8.6 as well

the main thing you would need your own team for are endgame content and some stages such as the stress tests
