you can try the lifestyle i live but ill tell you its terrible its hard and you still have to invest in the newer teams, luckily though if youre keeping up with the newer teams you can continue farming for old valks you enjoy and probably use them in er or their trials

signature weapons are not very negotiable in this game. They often have significant personal damage (usually roughly 30% from the next best alternative, but the range can be 20-70%) as well as extra functionalities that can be important for the valk
(think of how acheron's LC gives her an extra debuff)

there can be some exceptions (mainly if you happen to get an old valk freely. Then you'll make the best use of her you can without her weapon)

i'm not familiar with this example but sure. But at the time of acheron's release that wasn't the case.

The only thing i mean to point out is how LC can have functionalities beyond just numbers that can be critical to how the character functions.

i'm not looking to discuss what is actually better. HI3 can have cases where a signature weapon is replaced because it's too old though but for a character's meta life, it never usually reaches that point

1. Depends on your goals, if you are a competitive player you need a lot of teams, but if you're on the more casual side even 2 is enough

there's no strong answer to this because there's no true pattern to abyss cycles. Think of the game's abyss as a threadmill. It's going to constantly run as new things add on while older things fall off

So overall as long as you keep up with new stuff when you can fully afford them (char and weap) you'll be largely fine

This is also why we're not recommended to pull for older stuff btw. It's just not as worthwhile to do so.

Loosely speaking i would say most things in the game keep a top meta spot for 2 years, although it can be fine to still use them decently even if a replacement comes along if you're fine with lesser abyss tiers like agony 3.

2-3 teams is a good standard to comfortably retain Redlotus, this is a lot easier to get since p2 S rank characters function as both a support and a dps, the only mode a bit more restrictive to new players is MA since that mode locks your valks on different bosses though this mode barely provides crystals ( 40 a week) and there's also a buffed mode to help you achieve that

not really but depending on how casual you are, you can consider that

it really depends on the weather on how workable what you have are for it

some weathers are much more restrictive than others

also there isnt really a lot of space to build a character once you reach endgame and start forming proper p2 teams since we only really use signature gear and we dont have really have a relic system here, we have affixes but those are not as important as you might think

story and events offer trial valks too so you don't need to own anything to enjoy those aspects of the game

Immutable Crystallums

There are 3 BP tiers offering different amounts of Crystallums as follows:

Free Stigmata Boxes

Hey, Captain!

In Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2, most new Valkyries will have a Stigma Option box given for free! But when should you use them?

If you are pulling for the corresponding weapon, you should open the box AFTER you have 2 different pieces of that stigmata set already. These stigma boxes are optimally used to finish a stigmata set. This also applies to Part 1 stigmata boxes, if you have any.

If you...

• Obtained the weapon before you got at least 2 stigmata set pieces, stop pulling! Open the box to get the best piece and then craft any missing stigmata (you can find these in Foundry).
• Already got the full stigmata set before the weapon (there are high chances that you did), keep the box as a collectible or open it, select a random stigma and salvage it for Source Prism.
• Are skipping or have skipped the corresponding weapon but want to get the Stigmata set, open the box first for the best piece then craft the other two via Foundry.
• Skipped the weapon and do not intend to craft the Stigmata set, you have no urgent reason to open the box, so keep it.

Regarding Bronya: N-EX, you can open the box once you own T or B and use it to finish TB. M is not BiS on SW.

tldr save the box until you're done getting the weapon

the selection aspect of the box makes it best to use last to cover what you weren't lucky enough to get

for all newer stig set, having them incomplete usually leads to a large drop in performance so there's no need to rush any of them early if you cannot complete the set

(their main team buff is usually on the 3pc)

Nobody is currently worth backpulling unless you have a ton of crystals, though 1 patch old valks aren’t the worst decision in the world if we get a repeat of 8.2 and paws reruns

If you want to backpull 8.5 has good odds of having a carnival banner which will give you some free rolls for backpulling which makes it less painful to do

I guess theoretically if you have HoHE and her dkey were to rerun this patch it would also not be the worst decision imaginable - she’s still a symbiosis support and only needing a weapon is like a 60% discount - but it’s not going to happen, hofi’s is rerunning instead, and again in general don’t do it and if you think you have an exception you should ask first

No meta unit will pay for itself in crystals even if you get them at release and every patch later the larger the gap is

But it only tracks the highest level key on each category, so if your pistols of shamash are level 45 getting your cleaver to 40 does nothing

From a meta standpoint, you should not pull gacha AstralOps - only players who are retaining or trying to retain Nirvana should consider it if they have the funds (unlikely for f2p players).

Reasons:

• Dreamseeker is good enough despite being free.
• Too expensive, especially if they need SS (~20-30k).
  • AstralOps have the same cost as a gacha weapon, therefore pulling one may result in being unable to afford a Valkyrie's weapon down the line (for meta players, this means skipping said Valkyrie entirely).
• The damage and score increase they provide in Redlotus and below is often minimal and not needed to retain.

Of course having the astral op will give benefits but for most goals you don't need her.

If you're not sure if you want to handle nirvana or not, then don't invest in an astral op yet. It's possible especially on Global (NA and EU) servers to to promote on red lotus enough to at least enter (and probably drop out of) nirvana tier. Once you have an idea of what nirvana is like, then you may consider spending crystals on a gacha op more (preferably a newly release one in the future)

yeah DS references are going to be rare. At that point in the game, it's common to have the gacha op even though we say it's not recommended to get.

at that point you may need to adjust from a reference and figure out a way to make up for what you don't have. It'll cost some time but depending on the fight it may or may not be a great difference

the more time that goes by the less struggle there is, I mainly mean that the first time you enter nirv it will be stressful and the weather system will feel like it isnt on your side, over time that issue goes away

beginners struggle more because they don't have anything yet

as time goes on they will get more valks and weapons so clearing will become easier

not sure if it much matter to have "all" p1 valk( but mostly of them).

ill tell you right now, p1 valks dont matter at all if your goal is abyss

there are some p1 weathers, but they have been less frequent since tfm and rs banner (since tfm and rs helped p1 fire and physical respectively)

I had an experience of nirvana, but it seems to me that 1 out of 3 times (if memory serves) (2 were accidental, when I mistakenly failed to keep track of the score and rating) was only under the weather, but I couldn't achieve anything there either.
I probbaly jsut was bad in that time, where weather good to me, rn fell much better and better as fell game mechanic
