a few things to note about swallowtail in particular

• her ultimate is burst mode so burst mode effects would apply for her

the main idea when using her is she has two modes. Normal and burst mode.

• During normal mode you want to build up sp. You can build up her meter by QTE, attacking and evading timely against enemy attacks. Spending her meter by holding attack to regain sp.
• When her ult is ready you would want to start a new cycle where all support effects are refreshed, refrain from triggering your evasion skill. Enter her ult and the main idea is to not let the meter run out. Ways to refill the meter are
  • to hold attack to consume you evasion skill. this won't work if the evade skill is on cd
  • ultimate evade against enemy attacks timely (do this after the above)
  • kililng enemies (SP excels at mobbing back then because of this. you can chain a bunch of big attacks and refill alot of meter this way)
  • impair effects from hos or horb will last 15-16s so try to keep the burst mode up for this long. You don't really want to hyper extend this burst mode either. You would swap off once your support effects expire.

before anything else you usually want to evade with horb first. This consumes her evasion skill to sets her sp to 100 if it's initially below that. It also lets you access your late basic attacks that restores alot of sp if you basic attack after doing so.

but overall the goal is to set up her ult. Never tap the ult button. This causes a form swap that is completely useless for all meta situations. (If you think it looks cool, feel free though ofc)

Everything we've been sayingg so far is for her support form. She has an alternative dps form that i won't be covering for now

When you have enough sp, you can HOLD ult to set up her field. This field applies the impair effect on enemies reducing their def stat. Every physical team wants this effect and i already showed earlier how Swallotail especially wants it

normally i think this impair effect has 30s of uptime? It shows up as a blue icon above your hp bar but this isn't important.

after holding ultimate, press her weapon active button to enhance the impair effect and the blue icon will become a purple icon. This purple icon lasts for 16 seconds. After doing this you genreally want to swap in your dps to mileage off of this 16s as much as possible.

When this is over, you can QTE in horb and do her joint attack. Simply mash attack and she'll do a slash with a moon. Doing this while her field is ongoing will cause the enhanced impair (purple) icon to restart giving you another cycle without needing to farm for it. You can only do this once per field cast.

So after that expires, you'll restart the whole process

although horb shouldn't need to do too much sp farming overall.

hold ult and press weapon for one cycle of impair
qte to refresh the impair for one more cycle

  • Summing the above, you would use her if you need more fire and lightning damage and also not need to outburst early. This can highly depend on the abyss tier, weather, dist and other factors that should be evaluated on a case by case basis, and there is no general list.

General Information

• This box does not expire. So if you're not sure then leave it alone. Only make a decision when you're certain you have an immediate scenario to benefit off of.

• This box can unlock an ELF which normally costs 150 fragments.

• However, if you pick an ELF you already own, the dupe will convert to 105 fragments which is less raw value. Still considerable if you need to reach an important upgrade for a short term goal.

  • It takes 100 fragments to upgrade from 2* to 3*
  • and another 150 fragments from 3* to 4*

• Do not take these results very strictly.

  • Damage is NOT everything. You may often value Astral Ring Intensity (ARI) instead of damage.
  • I do not have any data for 2* ELFs but the general opinion is that they are worse than SS ranked Dreamseeker (DS), obtainable from clearing Chapter 4 of the Part 2's story.
  • While 3* is the main mileage point, if you can only get an ELF at 2* for now don't forget spending events regularly happen where you can later get further fragments to upgrade your ELFs.
  • Lesser, more niche factors to consider are team damage outside of outburst (Dreamseeker) or status effects (Songque's paralyze trauma vs Diabolic Kevin). Certain teams (e.g. Law of Ascension) or strats (Symphony Benares or Kevin) may also value multiple types of damage rather than just one type.
  • When looking for other data on Astral Op comparisons, please beware Songque and DS Op were buffed in 7.4 so any data for them before that point should be disregarded. #🔮cn-gameplay-discussion message

Kiana ELF

• If you haven't already unlocked her yet, this is probably the first choice.

• For astral ring (part 2) teams, she is a situational upgrade to Dreamseeker (DS).

  • She needs 3* to offer better fire and/or lightning __outburst __damage (this is usually better overall) compared to SS DS.
  • She suffers from having worse initial Astral Ring Intensity/energy (ARI). Therefore she will reach the first stellar outburst slower than DS. At 2* she starts with 40 while at 3* she starts with 45.
  • Summing the above, you would use her if you don't need to outburst early but need more fire and/or lightning outburst damage. This can highly depend on the abyss disturbance, abyss weather, your own account's affixes/divine keys/dorm/emblem, and other factors that should be evaluated on a case by case basis. There is no general list of when to use an ELF over DS. Elysia and P.Bunny ELFs are probably similar in this regard.
  • Can also reduce swap cooldown. Was notable for Herrscher Trio when Herrscher of Finality is the dps but nowadays Theresa Op seems more preferred for that team(?)
  • For next patch ||the new valk will be lightning. See #🔮cn-gameplay-discussion pins. There's currently NO consensus if she's a must-pull.||

• For non-Astral Ring (Part 1) teams, Kiana offers:

  • Best fire and lightning ELF. Can also benefit ice to a lesser degree.
  • Can gather enemies with ult (P.Bunny and to a lesser degree Elysia also offer this. Durandal and Water's Edge also, but those are obsoleted)

  • Can reduce swap cooldown with ult (P.Bunny and Elysia also has this. Durandal and 3* Klein too, but they're obsoleted)

Project Bunny ELF

• Best physical ELF
• For non-Astral Ring (P1) teams, at 2* can NOT ult immediately. Needs to reach 3* to be able to ult early.
• Can gather and reduce swap cd with ult.
• For Astral Ring (P2) teams, the trends seem very similar to Kiana ELF. Consider for higher outburst physical damage at 3*, but beware of the lower initial ARI compared to DS.

Elysia ELF

• Best ice ELF
• Can reduce swap cd with ult.

• Extends freeze duration but this is no longer notable currently.
• For Astral Ring (P2) teams, the trends seem very similar to Kiana ELF. Consider for higher outburst ice damage at 3*, but beware of the lower initial ARI compared to DS.
  • As of this time of writing, there's only two ice Astral Ring valkyries (Thelema and HoHE). Arguably, Elysia ELF will see the least amount of uses of the three mentioned so far.

Misc Considerations

• Nothing here is for general considerations. Only consider this category if you're highly fixated on a specific scenario, preferably when you have 3* Kiana ELF already.

• Klein ELF can force QTEs of lightning valks at 3*. Has a niche over Kiana ELF for this niche specific MA strat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJu_y54WN5o

• Selune ELF can provide rime (freeze) trauma. Has been used for niche Huodou fights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMTb-MF8qAc. However this is obsoleted and nowadays Thelema takes care of it.

• Fuxi ELF can force QTEs of fire valks.

• Tesla Zero ELF can provide bleed trauma, and also heavy trauma at 3*, on ult. However, the inability to reduce swap cooldown and the low and limited amount of bleed trauma makes this very not-notable nowadays. Bleed is also possibly more accessible via Muramasa katana (farmable), as well as SI, CE, or even LV and PS (these two are not farmable) valks. As for heavy trauma, there has not been any recent enemy that has this gimmick.

• Sirin ELF provides a very small amount of shield break but this has never been notable on its own afaik.

Affix Selector Box

• For more information about affixes: #👶beginner-help message
• All the options here will roll at max value (+23/+23). These sort of boxes are rarely given from events.
  • Technically available in Supply Shop but stamps often take higher priority there. #👶beginner-help message
• Despite how rare and maximal they are, affixes are still just marginal stat benefits at the end of the day.
  • You already can get roughly around 20 atk in a practical manner from rolling with Normal Crystal Cores (NCC), or maybe roughly 40 if you're using Wafer Stabilizers (locks). At that point these max value boxes are only giving you single digits more of extra stats, or are saving you some highly farmable endgame resources.
  • Ideally, you should only use these when you are in high Red Lotus or Nirvana abyss tier and have a highly specific situation that you are slightly off by, or if you are familiar with the game's meta and strongly expect the valk to have very strong dps use cases.
  • If you're struggling below or retaining Red Lotus, you're likely missing something more major such as valks, gears, levels, or faulty execution that's causing a larger drop in score that even 46 atk will not be able to fix.
• With how each gacha-only Astral Op loosely relates to a ring type, one of the above 3* ELFs may find some niche for a ring type you skipped the gacha Op of.
  • Beware some gacha Ops can still find use outside of their intended Astral Ring type. (e.g. a World Star team of Sparkle dps with Vita+FWS supports can still benefit from Theresa Op if you lack Songque Op. This team isn't LoA or RoO, but all members have Heavenly Shift tag and will gain 24 more initial ARI that way https://i.imgur.com/MJTFQKk.png)
  • If you do plan to get all gacha Ops and don't care for p1 situations, then the affix box is prob your greatest mileage.

SI mainly supports physical teams at her prime use but she was still used for more cope situations to give bleed to non physical teams with no other ways to access it

very early on you can prob find fights of SpA dps with SI against a boss mob stage
For bleed HoS there is a video on bili of using thelema dps and SI with zaychik 3pc (but that ref was very uncapped in fps and gets away with alot more on outburst than usual.)

weapon banner pity does carry over. However I don't really recommend this if they cannot guarantee. Building weapon pity now and failing to roll the weapon will leave little room to get stigs along the way for the next weapon banner of interest.

Additionally if there's any meta focus (usually the case for crystals), ely currently isn't very notable for a majority of her support roles. FWS is more debatable esp if you own her already.

Beware of upcoming additions as well in #🔮cn-gameplay-discussion pins that you may want to save for instead.

dreamseeker is good enough for most intents and purposes and you can hold on to the box if you want to be safe.

Kiana elf isn't a bad choice if you must pick now but keep in mind you'll mainly only benefit from her for part 1 teams until you upgrade her to 3* at once (you would still open this box first) with a spending event down the line.

If you already have a full p2 team i doubt you'll use much part 1 teams too.
