As someone who followed HI3rd for several years, I just don’t like how insignificant HI3rd feels compared HSR.

We had the Honkai be this multiple planet, maybe even multiversal threat that goes after several civilisations at a time, but in HSR it’s just grandpa Joyce and no one knows what he’s talking about.

Meanwhile we’ve had 3 different moments in part 2 that involve aeons in some form. (Sparkle and Sampo showing up and Vita becoming a masked fool, Coarlie meeting a descendant of long and becoming a dragon, and a memokeeper seeing Kiana) and I wouldn’t be surprised if they reveal Kalpas was Nanook’s cousin or something.

We have more paths in HI3rd than HSR has Honkai, despite it literally being in the TITLE.

Then you got people coming over here and saying stuff like “man, imagine if a lord ravager showed up to earth and blew it up with a finger snap, wouldn’t that be cool?” I don’t care if Herta could’ve solved the entire story of HI3rd, how the cocoon of finality saved humanity from the monkey scientist, or whatever Irontomb would do to the entire universe when it actualises. I didn’t follow this story for several years just for people to downplay Kiana’s story.

Wouldn’t be the first time. People also argued Kiana’s time with sim Cecilia didn’t matter or how the bad end in chapter 11 couldn’t happen due to Kevin. People don’t respect the emotional investment others have for the story of this game.

Feels like I’m in Plato’s cave and trying to enjoy my “shadow on the wall” reality, while everyone is trying to drag me out of it, including the puppeteers who made the reality in the first place.

But small stakes doesnt mean that you cant have compelling stories that are high stakes to the people in them at the moment. When talking about stakes you could argue that part 1.5 had pretty low stakes in the grand scheme of things even in just hi3.

Communities in general focus on the stakes too much, but you cant force people to like something they dont really care about
