I followed a cheater trike in eu 2 for like an hour as a ptera, He could move while being sit; he did at least 6 kill in front of me: fg Deino 1 shot, a fg maia 1 shot while he was in his back wtf ?? he killed me but i was in the sky lol , and high enough ! Ive got a good internet, Im 100% sure its a cheater; the maia wasnt lagging, the trike wasnt lagging... Like, he was able to 1 shot anything from far away. Of course he wasnt moving for a few sec everytime he did his magic trick.

I spose when you put it that way it makes it a little better. I just thought it looked more like it was flat out wrestling the Cama & Trike down which, while funny, is really heinous if it could just walk up to animals of that caliber and do that

We're only seeing the stills and aftermath of what it might be capable of on release, so it's all just balance speculation. Who knows what the requirements will wind up being, or how well it'll be implemented when we first get it, but I think stamina is likely to be a factor.
Acro might even need to get a long choke in two or three times to fully suffocate something that large, which would give the prey an opportunity to retaliate and better defend itself, recovering its O2 if the acro takes too long.

I know ptera doesn't need to visit the sanc, as I've gotten prime ptera without going to the sanc

I've never gotten a prime deino before, so I haven't tested. I'd bet deino doesn't need to go, it can't smell the sanc, gets attacked by bees at any age, and only 1 sanc is particularly close to the water

Deinos spend almost their entire lives in water, so being able to move faster is only a benefit. Relocation to find food, set-up an ambush, get to drinking prey faster, escape, etc. It's a top mutation for deino.
Efficient Digestion is probably the first mutation you want to pick, though. Starvation is deino's number one enemy (an extremely close second being other deinos).

I'd put saltwater in the same tier as the increased swim speed, personally. It's very useful, and opens up other hunting locations, but I don't think it's absolutely mandatory.
Damage reduction I'd put below those three, because you're not really looking to fight larger species. Maybe when spino comes along it'll be a good mutation, but you're safe from rexes and trikes in your domain.

Yeah, I like the difficulty of deino's growth, too. My only gripe is that the larger deinos will always be faster than you, which I think is backwards from something that only needs to hold RMB to end you.

They've got lots of little streams for small deinos to hide in delta, and there are the pocket ponds around the waterfalls. There are also the various short stretches of river between cataracts along the lake rivers, and a ton of rocks, grass, and logs underwater in big rivers like delta and large lakes and ponds

AI in this game is still a mixed bag to me. I remember being excited for AI before it was added, because I imagined it beign indistinguishable from real players, meaning canrivore players could still enjoy their favorite servers, even when mostly empty. But the AI we have now is kind of just.. janky free-ish food? Like, multiple times I've tried taking down a boar AI as a juvi carnivore, only to suddenly drop dead because the boar did an attack with no animation, no sound, and wasn't even facing me lol. But as a sizeable carnivore, they're just free snacks a lot of the time.

I dont mean to demean any dev's work, I'm sure AI is a really difficult thing to get right (especially animal behavior AI), but it definitely feels like something that needs the most touch-ups
