Because sucho can’t do what bary does and same for bary like them doing similar things doesn’t invalidate them player choice plays a big role if that was the case no one would play alberto they’d play rex

It is when they have the same exact build, hunting style and niche the only difference being one it bigger and more powerful.
Tell me what Dino’s that do the same things that are different sizes going to hunt the same things? Which playables?
You're looking at The Isle like it's a fighting game or something
But even in those the biggest character doesn't always win
What animals will bary and sucho both hunt
In case you haven't noticed, dapper, the Isle is a game and can forcibly differentiate them however they like though the main method is likely going to be their specials and intended group sizes.
While bary and sucho are both piscivorous 1v1 sucho outclasses it I. Power and size but that means, because - here's the important bit - it's a game, bary is likely going to be more nimble and may be able to access certain areas more safely than sucho and some less so.
Bary swimmer, sucho shallow wader, spino depth walker
If we used your logic we would have a game with rex, giga, spino, trice, shant, brachi.. Etc. That's about it. They will all outclass their smaller family members but that's boring. We wouldn't get the smaller members who some folk do indeed prefer
Dude the game is a SURVIVAL game not a free for all battle royale, it not meant to be oh there's a dino let's go fight it, you need to think like the creature you're playing as I see it too often where people run in and fight then wonder why they have to grow again, say when I'm utah ill stalk the Dino I'm hunting and wait for the perfect time to attack say when they're weekend etc, the devs never wanted this game to be a fight everything simulator its a survival horror at its core 😉
If you like the power of the apexes, and want to be able to kill anything you cross, more power to you. But a lot of people enjoy the challenge of playing something smaller, less invincible and relying on agility and speed
Y'all seem to have strung my words in the wrong way. I never was relating anything to a fight. Sucho just does what bary will better. Sucho is more land capable, more water capable. It literally does what bary does at a larger scale in almost the same way. I was never relating anything to a one on one fight. I was relating to mechanics and similarities. Y'all just can't read smh.

Also there are ways to make mid tiers and smalls that stand out from the apexes with specialty mechanics. I honestly see apexes being the more straightforward playstyles
I think that's making the huge assumption that sucho and bary will have the same abilities as they did in legacy, and that is not necessarily the case

Bary is able to hunt and dive in deep water and would most likely be a good hunter in land as well but sucho wouldn’t really be a good of a diver and not really a great hunter either because if it’s slow speed and would mostly eat fish or bully things of off corpses and fight anything that would be in its way (exept apexes)

You seem to underestimate what a bary was capable of it was actually stronger than a suchomimus would have been at swimming and they were more than capable on land too, I understand your point yes but it's redundant all the same.
Can full grown PTs not carry frogs anymore?
I've never not been able to carry a frog at 100% adult. Apparently it's inconsistent tho??
I've also never not been able to swallow the fish I catch even if they're longer than my whole ptera
I guess the weights of crabs could do with being reduced I'm tired of not being able to carry those
But someone said about chickens - I mean, idk. Chickens do be kinda heavy especially compared to frogs and crabs

Okay there was just a suggestion saying to allow PTs to carry frogs and I was confused cause I thought they could once they were 100%. You can even peck them outta the water and fly away with them
There are some Dino’s that are pretty much the same thing like Sucho with Spino, Ava and Styraco with Dibble, Alberto like Sub Rex.
Doesn’t mean any of them are bad or need to be removed
Yeah I don't mind pt being forced to land to eat 1-2 diet foods. But last time I tried with my 100% pt I couldn't fly with a frog I just killed

It was mistake or it's inconsistent as I was 100% ptera and couldn't carry frog then I tried a different frog and it worked it seems weirdly buggy, but I do think pteras should be able to pick up a chicken too as from research chickens average around 1.5-2.5kg ptera being 40kg it would easily be able to lift it up

That one would for sure be too heavy for a Ptera to carry then, but a frog and chicken for sure should be able to be carried

Quick logging usually fixes that. If it doesn't work the first time keep quick logging until it does.

@lime gulch Ovi’s not even in the game yet so I don’t know why you’re bringing up its hunger stats. Yes, eggs will be in its diet, but that’s not going to be only thing it eats. It’s going to be an omnivore, so I don’t think finding food is going to be an issue.

I wouldn't exactly say debatable on Carno. It's hunger is so pressing you're always looking for food. It shouldn't really be that bad on one of the smaller mid tiers.

I can understand it being adjusted later, but literally everything in the game (bar stego and deino) are on the menu for carno, it’s the fastest thing in the game, and it’s much larger than it’s prey. So it can literally eat everything. Probably when there’s less of the smalls to hunt and more mid tiers, then it can be increased. But currently it kinda needs bad hunger to stop the swarms and megapacks from destroying everything.
If anything, I’d just allow them to eat more, so eating somewhere feeds you for the same time, but you can hold up to 1 hour of food. So this only helps smaller groups really

Okay, as a teno I can happily handle 2v1. Things are dicier at carnos
And tbh I feel like I see packs of 5/6 carnos far more often now because they have to bunch up to kill the prey.
Which this makes sense teno has a third of weight on the Carno. Predators irl tend to take easier meals over harder ones. I don't mind the matchup and I'm a decent teno.
But I feel like it's literally had the opposite effect than was intended 
Carnos were a plague before this update groups of 5/6 is better than groups of 10/11
@agile lark agreed. Even though I semi-like the mechanic because of realism, I’ve had many hatchlings hurl themselves off cliffs just to come back as a different gender and it wastes eggs 😅

Honestly all that would be needed is like a checkbox on the egg spawn screen for whether you want to customize your appearance or have realistic/randomized from the parents. Then the people who want to be able to color coordinate can do so, and the people who like the realism of random colors can bypass the skin customization too
Maybe even a server option to allow egg skin customization or not (for realism servers)
I understand why you people would want this and respect your opinions, but I personally would like to tell who my siblings are based on their skins.
The surprise is part of the fun of hatching for me.
And it also adds some realism to the game.
Hence being able to choose the random option 🙂
Plus I think everyone who's talking about it here is referring to getting to pick from the parent colors or very similar colors (barring a few extra if you get a random mutation), so more then likely you'd still be able to tell who are your siblings. Just gives slightly more flexibility on whether you end up like a carbon copy of a parent or somewhere in between (in case it is one of those situations where the parent colors REALLY clash awfully with each other)
I understand, that makes sense. Thanks for the reply :) I still personally enjoy the realism aspect of the randomized skins for hatchlings more, but as I stated before, I respect your opinion.
@pine sierra congratulations, you discovered one of the PvE aspects of the game.
As an aside they are making another map, though I think it will have similar levels of cliffiness. Also the entire point of the jungle biome is that you can't necessarily see a football stadium ahead of you-- you have to slow down and pay attention to avoid hazards
i know but i cant seee anything in the jungles i heard they were gonna add interactive foliage which will defenitely help but the sliding is the only issue it wasnt a 90 degree drop its was like 65 degree drop and i slid and died
I think everyone has had that experience. I know I have. Sorry, I know it sucks to die to a mountain. None of the dinos can stop on a dime from full sprint, though, so it's really helpful to trot through jungle or be really familiar with the area
Also, there are specific bushes (tall, lots of little white flowers) that tend to grow on the edge of cliffs. Don't run through them until you know exactly what is on the other side

The skins are fine - just an option to choose your gender. I always get male when hatching in, but I like the female skins etc
I respect your opinion, but I think the randomized gender is also part of the fun. Isn't the only difference between male and female skins the male display? I mean, I could be wrong too. (Not counting hypsi of course)

When I first started playing I would die to cliffs more than starving/other Dinos.
It takes time, but you learn where the cliff locations are, how to get around them, and how to tell which bushes mean there is a cliff behind them
I feel like dinosaurs probably died to falling all the time whether not seeing a cliff due to overgrown foliage or even being chased to off by a predator. It was a hard life for Dinos, but they learned over generations just like we learn over time
Good heavens, people see one singular image of an allo scratching a para and they're like "OHMG THEY'RE MAKING PARA A WALKING LUNCHBOX LIKE LEGACY" Like srsly, this is tiring
Well it can't have happened too often. I know only of a couple cases irl where animals will run themselves off of cliffs... Self preservation instinct tends to be pretty strong (it's not a learned behavior-- fear of heights is engrained in animals for a reason, even if they've never been near a cliff or mountain in their life), and a lot of animals senses are better than people's.
Its that + rex mauls one in its concept, so all we have seen of para is it getting attacked and not defending itself. Which is why some people take it to the extreme and believe its going to be garbage, which it shouldn't.

we see alberto, something half the size of stego, mauling a stego, i severely doubt an alberto will maul a stego in game. So i also doubt allo will just maul a para.
All of the concept art dinos win their respective fights. I don't think we've seen para's concept yet
Probably give it attacks in a similar vein to teno -- they did a great job making a not-obviously dangerous dino into a respectable/formidable opponent in its own right
That's what I'm thinking too-- instead of a claw swipe some kind of head slam/swipe would probably work what with the bony crest and all

yeah, id see allo dealing more bleed while alberto deals more raw damage, so it would be easier for allo to punch up. Unless they make allo another punch down and alberto a punch up.
Alberto I could see punch up (the biggest being pachyrhino) but if they make allo a punch down animal and not a pack hunter I’ll be a little mad

personally, I'd make allo a generalist, like utah but MUCH bigger. If you're alone, punch down. If you're in a pack, punch up with bleed. Albertos would be similar, but have completely different strategies, maybe preferring smaller groups and brawing in its own size tier. However, we never see 2 allos together in its concept (except babies), but we see groups of albertos multiple times. so they may reverse that.
Yeah, from the Alberto concept it was mostly just 2 adults and when there was subs the adults looked aggressive and looked like they were kicking them out so it seems mostly like a solitary/group hunter and I hope allo wil be a pack hunter. Alberto I also see could take on things closer to its size than allo I se mostly due to its bulk, dps and that it’s meant to brawl

@opal mirage not only the map can cause the game to have fps problems, literally everything could make the game have a performance hit if it isn't done correctly, it may not be necessarily the map that's causing the game to have performance issues, and knowing they are doing a new map, they will probably get rid of spiro when the new one drops and make it better for the mean time we have new map
the only thing we can do is wait and hope for the performance to get better with every update, but since is in beta i wouldn't expect for it to get better soon since witch every update they are gonna keep adding new mechanics that can make performance worse again

@scarlet ocean I agree with you that current Utah is broken. Juvie that can make a carno's bleee to death or just packs that can kill whatever they want because of their blood pool is pretty insane.
However, i don't know how many time until the 6.0 and what the devs are concentrating their energy to actually.
But if i had to chose, i'd like them to continue things for their mains mecs and update the map than going through a balance that will be outdated in 2-3 months for those kind of things.
With the roster expension, they'll probably focus more on those types of things.
Thats a shame because I love spiro (at least the idea). Jungles are like my favorite, but oh well.

@queen ember When the head shakes from the head fracture, its just visual. Its a good indicator that someone's head is fractured since its hard to tell otherwise. Also, it does shake a bit violently, but its supposed to mimic being concussed and dazed.
I get why it’s like that, it’s just not very pleasing and could simply be done animation wise, not having my head shake every couple seconds and giving away location. If I’m hiding

It’s the same with any canni that randomly bites and gives away their location, it’s a situation that causes a temporary negative de-buff and encourages the player to try to avoid that debuff in the future. I/E don’t canni if it isn’t your diet and avoid getting head fractures when fighting a pachy. Head fractures are already very inconsistent and usually end up as a body fracture, which is the weakest of the fractures
That's part of the debuff. Low vision, weaker bite, and shaking that can give away your position. You bonked your head real hard, which is something incredibly bad to do (both irl and in game). It's a deterrent to doing it again
That being said I managed to hide with a head fractured Utah last night from a big pack of murder pachys (lol) and one ran right by my bush without seeing me so... I guess your mileage will vary

Idk. I’m perfectly fine with the much weaker bite and low vision that makes sense. The head shaking just seems a bit random and unnecessary when stuff like leg/body fractures don’t have anything that physically gives away your location. It’s all debuffs to your stats not random glitchy movements
they do, though. you visibly walk with a limp if you have a leg fracture, and you visibly hunch over like an old dino when you are body fractured. the head shake is the give away that you have a head fracture
I mean yeah, but it’s not physically giving away your location when sitting or standing, if you are trying to hide having a head fracture will almost always get you Vaughn
@sweet hollow Yes! Agreed on the vents! However, every so often the fans should turn on to prevent abuse. The fans should make a lot of noise and have a long start-up before actually starting so that the troodon can have a chance to leave the vents

thing is, the current utah is utah v2, and besides current utah seems like its being renamed to omniraptor i imagine so there is actually room to add in the actual hench af utahraptor
@placid plinth legacy won't be getting any type of support and in the future it will get deleted, so far devs have confirmed that all dinos from legacy, except from puerta that is getting replaced with brachi, will be coming to evrima eventually, but first they are working on adding mechanics rather than dinos, so once all the major mechanics are in (elder system, perks, weather, along side humans, and a few things more), dinos will be the principal point of focus, doesn't mean that they won't work on dinos in the mean time, just its not the priority for now

Haha I did the same thing when I was a newer player. When I figured out my mistake I tried N on a fellow utah everyone watching, and still nothing happened. We figured out we were the same gender, it was awkward coz the pack wanted to see da dance 😅

@keen imp I personally think that the respawn cooldown is a good thing in itself as it prevents people from winning fights just by spawning back every time they die. I do however understand your frustration, because the map is built in a way where center is the only place with other players = food for carnivores, and I have to change the server every time I get killed in there just to be able to play. (Or wait for the cooldown time to end.)
exactly so it should be lessened not by to much like its not that much 2 minutes instead of 80 is better
Center isn't the only place with other players... and it's pretty close to every other spawn if you really need to go back there, even for a fresh starving spawned carnivore.
Also there are turtles and crabs for EZ early growth on the south west and north east beaches.
I really don't see how changing server would be necessary to be able to play.

theres no night vision underwater
If you're under water night vision doesn't activate. Night vision does work on deino if you are on the waters surface or out of the water.
If you're trying to use night vision in one of the latter scenarios and it's still not working you'll probably need to delete your Saved folder to reset the keybinds

That's fair, but I personally find growing by eating only AI a bit hard, and I'm not that good with the map so I'm not sure how to get to center from most of the spawn points. (I only know south east and center.) Center has way more corpses laying around than any other place, and the only ai that I found as a juvi utah trying to play anywhere else was frogs. Sure big herbivores also go to south east but there's no way for me to hunt them as a juvenile utah. Maybe I should just try to learn to play the game and use the map though :')

@plucky ridge they literally just don’t want them to copy and paste the streams into there videos with no effort. Like it’s not that deep and definitely not hard to add commentary and actually change the stuff so it’s not just taking the stream
People wouldn't need to be kept in the loop by content creators if the devs just recorded and uploaded their own streams in full.
That said, the devs really gain nothing but animosity from threatening the people that are providing hype and essentially advertising how much work is going into the game in their stead

That said adding commentary is perfectly acceptable under US fair use and the Isles EULA is governed by Virginia law. That said, streams are not covered by that eula, just the software you have available. Fair use is, of course, measures against things like how much content you used, whether you're making money and what the impact for the copyright material is. Though it's super weird for a copyright holder to threaten anything when it's actually a boon and comes from nothing more than overprotective spite, like Nintendo.
this is also why he devs suck when it comes to mods because they literally ban them in their user agreement
They would be within their right to file copyright. It is questionable as to whether that's a reasonable claim under US law and could fall both ways.
The only thing that's really certain is that if they did, it'd be a strange move considering that afterthought is not a self-propelling brand like Nintendo who can afford to be rude and dismissive to their consumers.
That all being said, I have no idea if there's any validity to the claim that the devs have threatened or harassed creators.

That sounds about the same as what most of us would understand. The way some creators act is very much tip-toeing on glass which is suggestive of more than a polite request

#general-feedback message I agree with this, even turning the spit into a little more of an AOE where hitting the Head and not necessarily the eyes would count for the blinding effect, because unless you're fighting someone standing still or someone unaware you're even there, landing the spit shot is very hard Especially with the way the camera works and the shot doesn't line up with the intuitive cursor aiming.

I don’t see the big deal in them doing that. It allows easier access to update content with less confusion with commentary from the YouTubers. At lease that was the experience that quite a few people were having before some came out with the other method. YouTubers would make unfounded accusations about update content which gave faults expectations of what is coming to the game. Because if this people would get mad at the devs. Plus the YouTuber that are doing the “copy and paste” method are actually more organized and easier to follow so you know what is going on. Just don’t see the point in taking time to get after them when they have a game to make and if anything the content creators are helping the game. Other developers don’t go after their content creators so….
Well, no, other devs do, they're just equally as unpopular or have a significant player base to where having a poor community reputation doesnt matter that much
But generally speaking creators are left alone because they provide a boon, especially when the devs themselves are not filling the niche the creators are.

BUT a sound based debuff ability would make sense for para. It should be limited in how much you can spam it, though-- maybe like hypsi, it uses enough "vocal ability" that it leaves you hoarse and unable to use it again for a few minutes if you spam it 4-5 times in under a minute or so
It kinda is especially at night and no thankfully I usually don't get screamed at...at least not at that volume...but this is a game after all and I'm just juggling ideas that would do something here ^^

@urban flaxI'll have to disagree with it being on call for the reason that I'd like to see more variation for calls in general, between tap and held. In your case of three call, a short tap would be a quiet hiss/snarl like a "Oi, watch it", while held is the normal "Im going to end you!". Aside from that, I like the idea of giving para sonic based abilities in some manner.
But without the silly argument about wether it's an attack or not, I favor simplicty and saving buttons that are specifically for special ability, well... for them. Tying that one ability to a call makes room for more attacks or abilities oion the other bttons for para

Yes but it also defeats the purpose of 3 call. You use 3 call for intimidation, a threat, or warning. Having also apply a debuff means 3 call does not function as intended because it's no longer a threat, it's an actual attack
It depends on how many other attacks/abilities the para would have then, if we need to "save" a button or not. But it makes the most sense I think to keep it on an attack button, rather than a call button. Especially since calls should have more variation anyway.

Eh, I would rather see something like stego flushing plates for a three call, a cool effect but not an actual ability. You could have that on para, no actual damage or anything but some kind of visual effect somehow that just shows the potential of the para calls.
Maybe alt+rmb and only usable when standing still as a purely defensive thing would be the easiest option
That depends on what other attacks the para has. I think a shoulder check or something should take priority over that "call attack"
And when you're standing still to use it anyway you have the time to press alt ^^

Because it is very likely that devs already saw the many feedbacks about it by now ?
Because the pounce is a complicated thing to get working in a stable manner and you're also playing a game.
It makes perfect sense for something to latch onto the head or back and I'd argue those would be worse than a side pounce. 
But creating two new variations of the pounce is a lot of work.
On the flip side, if pounce is cancelled by the front or back that is going to cause some serious jank. It'll be the wiggling hithox method all over again.
But even more than that it's a game. You essentially have a player who has hit your hotbox with their special ability so their ability activates. It just so happens the only variation of the pounce is based on the sides, so that's where players go when the animation has to play. It's not rocket science.
Nothing is magnetic about it. The game is playing as intended.
this would all be easily fixed if other attacks had priority to knock the utah down like pachy since jumping at the face should hold risk, though I don't exactly think jumping at the back should hold risk given your opponent has turned, unless they have an attack to defend their rear too

Dinos already have separate hitboxes for their head, neck, body, base of the tail, tip of the tail and legs
And no, it doesn't make sense for omniraptor to be able to latch on something's head or tail. Heads move too much (and are often to small) to allow a raptor to latch on them, not even talking about tails. The raptor would just fall over in both cases.
There was a time where you couldn't pounce heads and tails, and although yes, pounce did fail most of the time back then, I believe hitboxes have been improved since then.
The main issue I have with pounce is that, because of the new stun timers, you can get up faster after falling by getting knocked down again.
The stun from running out of stam or being scraped off lasts 5. A normal knockdown lasts 3 seconds. So if you fall off and get knocked down again less than 2 seconds after, you get back up faster.
This is especially detrimental to pachy. Carno gets a free kill when utah falls since it can get like 3+ bites, teno can hit a kick and slam for immediate death. Pachy, gets 1 free knockdown, maybe an aimed break at most. So it’s basically just a free hit, while everything else gets to set up a major combo or a death sentence.
Yeah just making pounce lower priority than other attacks would fix a lot of issues... If a carno bit a Utah in real life, reasonably the Utah would not be going anywhere because the bite will also probably check the Utah's momentum.
Of course it isn't irl, but I think it has some validity for gameplay too. Utah should be trying to dodge around attacks to get a pounce, not tanking through it.
My only other thought is I'm okay with head pounces being a thing, but probably not tail tip pounces... There's simply not enough structure to hold a Utah at the tip of most tails (the base where it's nice an thick would be fine), whereas even if heads are small they tend to have enough surface area and strong neck muscles that something could reasonably grapple it. Moreover, tail tip pounce usually activates outside of the hit box of the tail attacks (stego swing and teno slam), which also means there's not much said dinos can do to counter. Head pounces typically come with the risk of a bite/front attack, which paired with priority would mean Utah's run the risk of pounce being cancelled and stunned if the pounce the head
Pachy is in a bit of an odd spot for balance. A single pachy is arguably the weakest combative dino in the game (ignoring things like hypsi, dryo, and pt that while they can fight, are generally not statted for it). But a full group (8) is probably the most powerful thing in the game atm, with the exception of stego for the sole reason that I don't think pachys can actually fracture an adult stego, and tail fractures aren't a thing. Deino's typically are just kind of... There, and don't often participate in a proper fight
Here’s the thing though, pachies are slow. Anything they can outrun, they can’t break. Anything a horde of pachies can demolish, can just avoid them by being faster and running away.
Plus, I HATE balancing a creature solely on group play. Even utahs can hunt small things alone, then pack up to deal with larger threats.
Even then, what does this have to deal with pachy knocking down a utah? If multiple pachies try to swarm a knocked down utah, they’re going to hit each other. So only 1 can go at a time.
Pachy is ever so slightly faster than Utah (I have to weave to avoid the bonk... If I run in a straight line they catch up)
But I agree completely about balancing for solo play as well. Not everyone can find a group especially as more things get added to the roster, so making solos viable is important. Pachy is just particularly complicated because it's attacks quickly become scary powerful working as a team
It has everything to do with pachy knocking Utah. I've been slam dunked by a pair of pachy after one knocks me down, and I've seen a friend dunked on by 3 pachys hitting at the same time after they got knocked down. Needless to say, neither of us got up again after the knockdown
Pachy is 100% slower than utah tho.
Pachy is 41,8 KM/H while Utah is 46,8 KM/H

Bleed is one of those things where it’s near impossible to just get a number out of. There’s so many factors that go into play.
@cinder fossil As I've stated in islediscussion many times... Optimization is something we look at in every patch, and make small improvements in as we go. It's not something where we're able to buckle down and make everything perfect in one patch.

Not everyone is aware of why you can’t do that.
Information like that is for DevBlogs, aka a place where information regarding development activities is all compiled into one place for people to browse through. Chopping something out of it to make as it's own standalone post seems extremely redundant, as if they aren't willing to browse through the DevBlog it's unlikely they'll read through a standalone post.
I think that the people who want optimization, might be willing to read something about optimization…

Issue with voting polls is that even if you state that their outcome isn't binding... A lot of people assume that it is. It's the same reason we don't have anything like that reaction-wise for our Phase Three posts, as there would be complaints from people who thought the decision making process would be based on which reaction had a higher number. Instead the reactions on phase posts are more for gauging view metrics at a glance.
So while we may do polls for some neat community oriented stuff in future, they aren't something we use often for the above reason.

It's not something that will suddenly be instantly solved in one single patch. It's a process, I.E something that we will always continually improve upon until the game is finished and everything is in a perfect state.

Pining multiple messages is obviously out of the question, but again, making a post In announcements or something and being able to link it to people who have concerns
An example would be everytime we add something that differs from it's initial roadmap description, because design theory can differ heavily from final implementation when you run into certain hurdles during it's development, which results in having to pursue different solutions or outcomes.
But regardless, there's often a lot of angry comments.
We do that already with our DevBlogs. Like it happened yesterday when someone asked me what the main differences between the current Diet system and Update 6's, so I told him to go check our last blog. Otherwise if we separated everything into it's own announcement, it'd be more tedious to direct people to the information they want.
If only more people would read the DevBlogs then, because the constant suggestions that just say things like "optimize the game" and nothing more can quickly bury actual good feedback 
Plus that doesn't actually suggest anything. 😛 That's like saying "buff Carno" and that's it 
I can understand why people want optimization, the game runs horribly

Something kinda funny as well is that in one of our stress tests we had a bunch of feedback about our scent system. There was multiple feedback submissions saying that the scent system was too difficult, but also an equal amount of submissions saying it was too easy.

Don't get me wrong, we do think the system needs significant improvement. I'm bringing up that specific circumstance for the humour factor, because it presents an awkward situation where acting on one side of that feedback can often make the opposite side feel ignored (which obviously isn't the case). Lots and lots. I mean hell, going back to the early days this game was supposed to be like 3 carnivores and a couple of human factions. Herbivores were a community suggestion, same goes for the deeper emphasis on it being an animal survival game.
I guess it really depends on what you’re playing as, if you’re a herbivore and carnivore finds you by following your scent, you may think it’s op,

I would also like it’s alt-attack to be a pivotal stomp where it would have a tap/hold variation: the tap would be fast, cost less stam, do no fracture and low dmg but would be to catch things like herrera, troodon and so on and the hold variation would cost more stam, have a slower wind-up, do fracture and lots of dmg and would use after knocking opponent down like cera, dilo and carno
I like that idea. It could also have an alt neck body knock down attack thing(that it does to cera in its concept art) which it can then land the stomp. Either idea is good

@gritty terrace I like the both the slit and round pupils on dinos tbh. I do dislike carnos pupils though and I did bring up weird inconsistencies with the eyes like stegos sideways pupils and pachys lazy left eye and carnos goat pupils to Bryan when he streamed and he mentioned he reworked some of the eyes recently so hopefully it’ll be fixed.

@torpid karma Bodies floating up to the surface is just broken right now. Sometimes the bodies do actually float up to the surface, and in some cases the body will float up for one person but will still be underwater for someone else, but most of the time they just stay underwater.

My main grip is the vegetation is just too equally dense. There's too much of the same bushes in many places and it interferes a lot with a 3rd person view... we used to be able to see through foliage when the camera was close enough to compensate, am i crazy or is it not a feature anymore?
If the vegetation had more sparse and varied height visibility it would be interesting. The cycads in the upcoming map is a good step in that direction

Yeah... I think achievements should be per server, and only count survival time as in game. But to compensate drop the number of hours. You could even have different levels of achievement. Stuff like:
- Grow to adult (any dino with more than 2 hour grow time)
- Survive for 6 hours on a single dino
- Survive 12 hours on a single dino
- Nest in a full clutch of eggs (6, not necessarily from the same nest)
I hesitate to make it much longer though because then people will afk to get the achievement
Basically, that or make growing/achieving give stuff for that dino. If you grew a dryo, now you have a new dryo skin for next time, but you would have to grow something else to get their skin

@clever urchin While I agree there does need to be more "tutorials" / "player tips" for new players, there are already little hints such as "Press G to pick up a chunk and hold G to drag body" or "Hold E to eat" ( G and E are just examples but it uses your keybinds. )
I know there's "Hold E to Eat" but I never noticed a "Hold G to Drag". Like you said the buttons are the ones we put but I used your example, however I'm not just talking about those little things. I'm talking about things like alt bites, special attacks and what not, however you also make a good point. It would be good if the game made more "tips" like that.

I figured. Unless they implement the glowy eyes in NV for everyone, I think the "Glowing Eye" cosmetic would work. On one hand it makes ambushes harder, and for two it looks spooky as all hell

yeah i agree thatd itd make tracking more realistic and engaging. especially considering that footsteps are random in a sense. maybe droppings would be taken more seriously if it didn't have a button, either. just a random idle animation (or lack of, like in Ark) after eating.

Contradictory things. Which is why there should be a little more variation in calls. For both RP, and in-game communication
Yeah. I could see a warning call being useful especially for smaller dinos. Something that means "predator spotted! Scatter!"
At the moment 4 call generally means something like "I'm fighting and want help" (or in some cases people co-opt it because it sounds more aggressive than the 3 call), and the 3 call is a threat display/warning: something like "you want some of this? Come and get it!" Or "back off or I will kill you!" Or even "I don't want to group with you"
There really isn't a call to warn other dinos of your species to be careful and avoid the area
Yeah I'm not opposed to poop, but you know there's going to be a lot of immature folks pooping on other players to annoy them, or to trash them after they die, etc. Honestly just better to leave it out imo

You'd at the very least have to move else where to dispose of said waste away from you're camping spot, or move to another camping spot after you go.
It wouldn't completely solve the issue, but at least forces players to move a bit more

@Vand#6666 although realistic, the issue with having bleed affect speed, attack speed and animation is that bleed is already really brutal-- bleed impacts stamina heavily which is SO important to fighting (no Stam, no high damage attacks like stego swing, teno kick/tail slam, carno charge, etc).
If it also affected speed and attack speed directly, Utah's and giga's (really all bleeders) would be exponentially stronger because it would mean they can directly affect their prey's ability to fight back and land hits
@lone kite I think (someone please correct me if I am wrong) they're planning on adding more nest types in the future (bury and forget would be great once burrowing mechanic is added for example)
They currently have a bird nest design for ptera, a debris style nest for croc and carno, mound nests for teno, pachy, and Utah, a shell/scoop nest for hypsi... Not sure what a dryo nest looks like right now

personally i think the current rosters nesting system is fine with the exsception of dryo but that can be updated when they finnally get burrowing, saurapods could have the burry and forget though my only reasoning for that is cause its what they were depicted as when i was a kid though for anky i had an idea of a trench nest where the ankly diggs out a trench instead of building a mound
though that might be op for anky as it means u wouldnt be able to get under it to flip it

@viral finch You don't need a poop mechanic to add what it can bring to the game, there are many ways to include mechanics that leave some type of scent for other dinos to find, poop isn't necessary nor essential and it could be a bit weird for a lot of people, since the first time the devs said that they wanted to do something similar with a pee/poop mechanic the feedbacks channel were filled saying they didn't anything like that
Maybe people need to accept the fact animals do that stuff and it doesn't HAVE to be weird

the player biting can be dragged while being attached to the other player depending on the dinosaur's mass and weight the biting player would have alot of trouble resisting the other dinos movement
depending on the player biting, say like he doesnt move at all aka doesnt press any movement keys he wont do any damage he will just hang onto the body, but if he keeps pressing S for example to move backwards or doing that while holding shift he could rip out a chunk of flesh if enough force is applied
also depending on the angle the bite landed the jaw would be placed dynamically

Dragging a player around would make it even more complicated.
Dynamically placing the latch would be even more conplicated
I wouldn't say we're very likely to see those things integrated into a latch mechanic unless it's revisited heavily.
I'd say we're more likely to see something where the jaws will lock on at specific points and you're grounded in place while it plays an animation

And frankly Carno is designed as an ambush predator in the game, not a long distance runner, so it has less stamps, high speed.
Kinda wish carno would be more of a pursuit hunter instead of ambush because both allo and Alberto is also “designed” to ambush

Right now the only "dramatic" ending is the raptors hanging on stego's tail. But still, could be much better in a preanimated act (I think).
I think the more urgent fix is the "no loading screen" when logged in.
Kinda suck to see everything loading live (even dinos around).
Half the problem with designing a pursuit predator for this game is that players don't generally run.
You can't panic a herd of teno, they will stand and fight because they're humans.
The only thing you can pursue are folks of less growth than you.
Therefore the most likely way things will resolve is that those who are intended to pursue over long distances will instead have exceptional tracking or have high stam regen
Tldr; because its a pvp game pursuit predation doesn't work like it does irl

I would like to see an endurance hunter buuuut those can rely on running too, and long standoffs to drain resources are hard in official since you're gonna get someone else running in and if it can't outstam it's intended prey... Well, they'd need to be careful balancing it.

Idkni don't have any problem playing Carno other than the hunger drain.

The danger call is the 4 call though 😮 I only remember Kissen talking about how some creatures sound less like "help me!" (eg; Dryo) and may use it more as a "DANGER HERE!" (eg; Tenonto). I don't think it was ever supposed to be a new thing.
I know I'm late to the party, sorry. ^^ But I kinda think it's, at least in part, the other way around. Carnos fight that much because they have to. And the carno hunger drain isn't really a balancing issue as in my opinion it currently completely changes the way the carno is played rather than just being about how well it does in the current environment and interactions with other dinos.
I feel like the current hunger drain (combined with people piling up around center/nw - herbis, you decide what parts of the map are populated ^^) forces the carno into a bruiser-type playstyle it's not designed for.
Imho a carno shouldn't have to yolo into 8 tenos, 3 pachys and a stego cuz it's gonna starve if it doesn't but be able to watch and wait for one of the pachys or tenos to run off alone to get water or food or something to pick it off, which oftentimes isn't an option cuz the carno will probably starve while waiting.

I have the same opinion as many people about the weird fascination that some people have about excrements, but in the context of a game like The Isle, they could (and should) provide a lot of information for tracking prey. Irl they're the best ay of finding traces of an animal's presence and to know how long ago it was there, it's age and health state.
Since The Isle already has a lot of sci-fi elements, I wouldn't mind some kind of holographic screen appearing to show the properties of a pile of excrements.
Not really, it means the location of the person who dropped is given away at the moment they drop it. Sure they can move, but that's also the whole point here. It adds a complication the AFK growing meta.
You're essentially dropping a beacon everytime you dispose of waste
Heck you can even add a short trail to it to show which direction they went, or design the model in a way that points in the direction they were facing at the time they went.

@solar salmon Utahraptor and omniraptor are going to have different stats, attacks and toolsets. Omniraptor keeps its unrealistic playstyle, utahraptor will play like an actual utahraptor (no pounces)

Omni is the same size as an accurate Utah

Kinda like having both Giga and Carchar as separate dinos.
The realistic Utah wil most likely be more damage based and a brawler while Omni is a bleeder that uses hit and run tactic’s and it’s current pounce. A realistic utah wouldn’t be able to pounce like our Omni does
Omni's weight should be reduced as well when utah comes (or possibly sooner than that)
And the realistic Utah won’t be able to punch up as much as our Omni is
A niche that is taken by other playables already and get bullied by everything in the game due to it's abilities and just having a pin instead of a latch. Accurate Utah would also get run down by carnos and it's only option would be to try to juke it out, but with a bigger model and hitbox it makes it harder to pull that off. unless you wanna break accuracy to change that then you don't want accurate Utah you just want the accurate model.

i feel like changing the opacity of chat messages can really add to immersion. you'll be able to see how far away each pack member is from opacity, and will have an idea of when you stop being in range .
obviously the rate at which opacity goes down will have to be worked on but ouuuu

The fact that a singular Omni has the statistical capability to take a Carno down on its own is more than proof enough of that
But... None of the Isle's dinos are truly realistic. And honestly... If they wanted they could tweak the anatomy and animations for the "realistic/feathered" pattern Utah if they wanted

If you are experiencing issues with your controls since the latest update (can't move camera, unable to court, etc) then please try wiping your config files in localappdata.
- If running The Isle, exit the game.
- Press the Windows key
- Type %localappdata% then press Enter.
- Find "TheIsle" folder. Open it.
- Open the "Saved" folder.
- Delete the "Config" folder. Note: This will reset any of your custom settings to their defaults.
- Restart the game. The issues should be fixed.

It's not phase 3 polls. It's Punchpacket explaining that they do optimize the game, it's just a continual process.
The issue is program optimization is really finicky, and adding one mechanic can make the previous optimizations redundant or even counter productive depending on what exactly changes
Although I do think (with only circumstantial evidence) that the main 2 hits to performance are corpses/blood and map block loading. The former will probably get some optimization with the addition of gore (as it directly affects the corpse system) and the latter might change with the new map that's coming

What generally inspired me was the cannibalism with Komodo dragons and their hatchlings
@hasty dagger the hemotoxic venom is probably based on the properties of living monitor lizard venoms (including the komodo dragon)
@unreal ridge I don’t know if hypsi spit in the eye should knock things out of trees. When climbing and Herrera are added, Herrera would be one of Hypsi’s main predators. If hypsi spit in the eye could knock them down then a hypsi could repeatedly do that to a Herrera and literally deny it from climbing as well as on a tall enough tree, it would literally be a one shot kill ability. Not to mention the amount of griefing that would make Herrera extremely difficult to play even as an adult.
I think it would be more fair/balanced if it would just blind creatures and they couldn’t wipe it off while climbing. They’d have to climb back down or get to a branch before being able to wipe it off or they’d have to wait it out. Either would give the Hypsi more than enough time to escape

@dire stag Not sure if someone pointed this out already but technically you can skim frogs. The only difference is you need to snap at them when you pass over them. But you can totally skim while doing that. That's how I catch frogs.

I also think deino’s design is a little boring to, it’s just a big as gator (I know deino is a gator but still) I’ve seen amazing deinosuchus models that actually looks unique rather than just a big gator
