If you want to use the console, you need to add the " -console " (minus the quotes) to your Valheim .exe in the steam folder.
Once you've done that, you can upen the console with "F5" while being in game.

If the damage type that the enemy resists is bigger in your weapon than the damage type it doesn't resist then the damage number shows grey (as if it was resistant).
In the case of the knife where it's 50/50 it always appears resistant against loxes bc of the slash resistance even tho it's equal slash and piercing damage
Then it seems also like if the damage types are equal it shows grey.
So resisted type is equal or greater to not resisted type = grey.

If I logout of a world, where my character is poisoned, then join another world, die there and log back into the first world, will I spawn back in the same place when I logged out?
You should, yes.
(i figured there might just be some priority list for types instead of priorities for resistance colours if the equal one is neutral, so i tested it by hitting the queen (neutral to slash but resistant to pierce, the opposite of a lox) with a knife and yea no you're right, it still shows as resistant. if both are equal numbers, the colour prioritizes the type that isn't neutral, good to have that confirmed~)
Is tar renewable resource?
Once you've drained the pit you won't be able to drain it again. But the growths will spawn over time and you can still harvest those.
technically yes but the respawning sources are very slow compared to just finding new pits
only a few of the growths at each pit respawn (once an hour iirc) and they only drop 1 tar each

Parry multiplier is greater in bucklers, which makes them better for parrying, but inferior for normal blocking. Round shields are overall good for both blocking and parrying.
The multiplier number multiplies the block armor stat when successfully parrying.
Exactly why I like the banded iron shield
You can parry bosses, but they are immune to stagger. And parrying costs more stamina than normal blocking.

I also go with Banded shield normally, but I crafted Iron buckler in my Hard preset world for better parry number.
In short, yes. Successful block reduces the damage taken from hits.
Parrying blocks more damage but uses more stamina.
do you have to time normal blocking?
You basically hold block button for regular blocks. For parrying, you need to time the block just before the hit connects you. Parry is successful when you hear a high clang sound and the enemy becomes staggered.
When enemy is staggered it takes critical (=double) damage.
Increasing the chance a foe got staggered when the parry is done at the right moment
so they dont always get staggered?

Successful parry always staggers unless the enemy is immune to staggering (like all bosses).

The Bog Witch is spawned in any unexplored swamp on existing or new worlds
so its not like haldor where it spawns a certain distance from spawn

If you see one, it's very likely you will spot the other one too. Except you will need a wishbone for one of them
When you see obsidian around there are possibly silver too. So if you see Mountain without obsidian you can stop searching there.
we have so far found three mountains with obsidian but no silver

I assume you have Wishbones equipped?
If you didn't equip it (like any armor piece) then it couldn't have helped to find silver.

Did you check the box "Dungeons"?
The infested mines are found under that nowadays.
Also, if your game is from before the bog-witch update, it may be better to upload your world files instead of having the generator use the version build to generate it.

Uploading may be a better choice, I think.
Click the blue button next to the seed, then follow the path written in the description to upload the files.
It's in general a more safe method, as it uses the map generated from your game, instead of the site's generator.
Also, the version you have selected is an obsolete one. Which means the generation may not be right to start with.

Click the blue button next to the seed and follow the description shown in that.
You need to upload two files at the same time; which you can do by selecting one, then hold [shift] and click the other so both are blue. After that click OK and it should work.

you can delete the NPC themself with forcedelete, but their camp/home will remain, no way to get rid of that without mods. doing this also won't bring back the other 9 potential locations

there are some mods that can delete the entire location, and i think there is one that can bring back the other 9 potential spots, #mods-discussion or #mods-issues would know better than me

I know it's from the map tool.
But if your game progress isn't that far, you could restart at a new world with the same seed and spawn her at the right spot this time.
Later you can simply move everything from the "wrong world" to the "right world" and continue as if nothing happened.
You can deal with that by using the "no building cost" modifier.
Since your character has everything up to that point unlocked you can rebuild everything without even using the materials for it.
Once you got everything rebuild, you exit your game, turn the modifier off when selecting your world and - again - play as if nothing happened.

Equip torch in other hand and destroy the spawner with other weapon. While you hold a torch normal Greydwarves avoid you and only try throwing stones.

There is, but it requires using console commands.
Hmm, maybe ill have to use them. It seems boring to not have any end game raids until deep north
Defeating Fader enables Charred archers/warriors spawning in other biomes during night time tho.
So if you enjoy night walks then you can get some night time visitors.

The command that would enable back the charred raids will basically makes the game forget you have defeated Fader, so it will turn off the spawns that come with his death

Definitely. It's nice having an answer for the starred warriors. I was getting annoyed of getting staggered through a perfect parry.
I have a bunch more gems, and like 9 strongholds left on my main world so i'll probably casually get around to clearing the others and either stockpile or add the rest of the weapons to the collection.
Btw, if the root effect of the klossen applies does it hold enemy in place right away or does it root him after he has been pushed by knockback? π€
The knockback should still affect the enemy. All the roots do is set movespeed and turnspeed to 0

Yeah, definitely! Especially when there are multiple Warriors that attack at the same time with differently timed hits so you can knock them and possibly root them.
Primal Axes actually is another favorite thing for me to keep hitting and proccing root effect on starred warriors and other bigger targets.
Like Blobi said, enemy cannot move but you can knock them around when they cannot move. π
If you dont spawnproof it they will still spawn, even in water. But if you dont then you will have steady supply of coal and cores π

Ah, do you have workbench or portal nearby? If there is and item that prevents spawns they will not spawn

you planted them with a cultivator? it takes like 2.5 days for them to grow too
you plant carrots, to get carrot seeds, then plant the seeds to get carrots

How long does it take for the roots in the mistlands to regen their glow to be prime for extracting sap again?
The reservoir of sap in an ancient root regenerates at a rate of 1 sap per 400 seconds, up to a maximum storage of 50 sap
Trying to figure out what is causing me to have over 700 items in each build menu category, like all the categories got combined into each other
just got valheim for the first time, planning on making video, but im trying to get my graphic settings finalized first. I don't have a crazy pc or anything, but I want the game to look good while still giving good frames. I just want to know what veterans of the game like to have enabled or disabled. I'm by no means a veteran, but I play on maximum draw distance, second best vegetation quality, and the rest is up to glow my laptop is feeling
have I missed a patch or something, in the Bog Witch Update the feasts in valheim wiki state that they give A LOT MORE stats for ashlands and mistalnds food, but in reality they give a lot less :?. Did i miss a tweak

So I've heard that you can bury workbenches throughout your base to prevent enemies spawning in them during raids. How exactly does one go about "burying" the workbenches?
use pickaxe to make a hole. Put workbench inside it. Use hoe to raise ground back up and level it.

A small part of the workbench should be visible or it will break.
You can also connect the workbench to be buried to something that will stay above ground, like a wooden beam that goes trough the workbench and then connects to a sitting log, tree, rock, ... (haven't tested that lately but it certainly used to work.)
Making a hole and putting a workbench in and then making a small building over the workbench is also a possibility.
Anyone have advice for the swamps?

I keep getting my butt handed to me and my friend straight up uninstalled the game. Lost three karvs on a trip to get gear back but no luck.
Having placed a bed and/or a portal as a spawn point nearby instead of going directly to the swamps would've been a better course of action.
Even if that means doing it on a nearby island if it's a swamps island
Don't get caught in the swamp at night till you have some better gear.
Make a small base outside the swamp in a meadows or black forest, later on you can make a tree base in one of the indestructible swamp trees.
You can abuse the pathfinding of the mobs quite easily, if you find a indestructible log on the ground, get on top or over it and you will make the mobs change their pathfinding, once they get close to you, jump over again and they will turn around, that way you can kite them around and plink em to death with the bow.
If you find a crypt you can also get on top of it and you'll be safe from everything but ranged mobs.
You can also get into a crypt for a safe spot at the start and you can make a campfire there for rested bonus.
- only go there during daytime
- use stagbreaker for blobs. wait until they jump and then attack. dont get too close
- throw spear/shoot with bow on leeches
- use atgeir special attack to deal with draugr
- use trees to block vision from archers and get them to move closer (this is especially important in swamps since pools of water might limit where u can go)
- put down bonfire to deal with abominations (actively repair it and kite around it to keep abom burning)
- use poison resistance potion (if you get poisoned without potion, you can use portal or enter crypt for emergency. you dont get damaged while in loading screen)

If possible, you can dig under floor and hide it there.

Makes it smoother for the cart to ride over, won't snag as much on stuff and you can make it level or less sloping.

Not sure but it certainly needs to be close to the forge.
It should be near enough when placed under Forge.
Or you can try put other Forge upgrade under if anvil doesn't fit.
You could put a half floor over the forge and place it on there.
You could also dig a hole put the anvil in there and make a floor over it.

I am at bronze age, mountain biome is very close to me, is it possible to lure wolf into meadows and tame it? (Is taming wolf region or boss locked?)
is it better to place lots of portals all over your base with their pair or just keep a single portal and change names when necessary?

how do i get that?
From materials found in Mistlands (specific cores from Infested mines, other mats by woodcutting and mining).
You can tame a wolf in any biome it's in, so no need to kill Moder or any of the other ones before her to tame wolves.
However, they will try to attack you, so a wooden fence / wall may be too weak.
It would be easier to mine a pit with some wooden floor over it, then lure the wolf over it and destroy the floor piece its on, so it will fall down.
After that, drop some meat in the pit, get out of sight so the wolf calms down and wait for it to become tame.
You can get it out later by building a wooden staircase and order it to follow you.
Did you spawn your higher tier stuff?
You can lure the wolf to where ever you want and tame it.
I advice making a hole, floor over it, lure wolf on floor, destroy floor, toss in boar or dear meat (uncooked), run away, sneak back and park yourself close by.

That's player dependent.
Some like to have a single portal they rename each and every time, some like to have a portal hub elsewhere and only have one portal at their main base.
And some may have a portal hub at their main base.
Personally I prefer the 2nd option, I do know there are a few people here who prefer the first option.
I do both, I have a portal hub to frequently used portals, as in farms and such.
I also have other portals that I hardly use and I'll note them on my map but they don't have a dedicated portal.
I also have a blank portal so that I can quickly put down a portal and be back at base in record time.
I usually do the second option as well, but occasionally I'll have a network of 4 to 6 that lead to each other. Though I'll admit it's not very efficient lol
Do you play in your friend's world together? He seems to have progressed in current final biome already if so.

I also make portal chains for frequently used materials, like surtling spawners for coal and cores, sap and infested mines, for food stuff.

One thing I have learned from previous games is to use signs on the wall behind the portal, showing which biome it's in.
And I'm using a colour code on the signs to show how dangerous the area the portal is in leads too.
I'm also using a system to make it easier do determine where the portal group is heading to.
Like spawn and all trader portals grouped together, biomes grouped together, the portal to my main base in the center and the unnamed (or pocket portal as some call it) separated from the rest.
It works nicely for me that way.

I also use colors in signs for different biomes:
Light green = Meadows
Dark green = BF
Brown/grey = Swamp
White = Mountain
Yellow = Plains
Light purple = Mistlands
Red = Ashlands
Light blue = DN (for the future)
I place my portals in front of a wall and do a sign behind the portal so I can see what the portal is named and I know where it leads because of the name.
I exclusively use white letters, a lot other of colors are hard for me to read in game if it's not neon
I'm calling it my "OK, no need for a fixed spot here, but I'd better be safe" portal.
For me the spawn and traders are green, yellow is for previous biomes that I can consider as safe, orange for the ones I was in prior to the one the character is in now and red for the one I'm currently in.
The central (home) portal is also listed in green; but at the main base I'm using Orange to show it leads to an area from where I can go to are ranging between safe and life threatening.
It seems your system are more alligned to the colour code used at the Valheim Map Generator. It certainly looks interesting in its use.

Your system is interesting. I have adopted those colors I use from the color of the ground in each biome (which seems to be also same in World Gen, true).
I usually have portal hub in my main base that leads to each biomes' outposts I've built somewhere in those certain biomes. Usually spawn portal (Meadows outpost) is near spawn point where I have portals to each traders, farming areas and other resource locations (like Sap). In each outposts I have portals that lead to different locations in their biomes.

Like your system to tell which portal the hub leads, and my system to show if the portals in that hub lead to a safe area or not.
Kinda like using the <color=green> Spawn for the portal hub leading to the spawn, then slightly different colours leading to the traders and eventually Red or Orange for the Sap extractors.
I think that might work, but I need to think over for a while. Because usually I'm using the area under The Elder's altar as a portal hub to "abuse" the fire of the altar to gain a little bit of a rested bonus.
It may work, but you need to extend the floor tiles to the other side of the pit.
You could also build the wooden wall or fence around it already, so the wolf is seeing you, but is forced to follow the only path for it to take is the one you have in mind.

One thing you may do is use this:
raiseskill [skill] [amount]
- Raises (or lowers) the named skill by the value entered.
- If 'All' is entered in place of [skill], all skills will increase by the value entered.
- To lower a skill, type "-" before the value.
However, that can only be done by the player hosting the game only.

You are in position where you cannot repair some of your gear (Flametal mace, Primal axes, Jotun Bane) before getting Black Forge, which is Mistlands tier workbench (6th biome progression wise, Mountain is 4th). Same for Feather cape you are wearing, which needs also a new workbench from Mistlands.
Plus you need some upgrades for the Black Forge also for repairing Flametal weapons.
I can always make a extra at plains
It can take a while and if there are any mobs nearby that can trigger it as well.

You first need to enable the developer console then activate it ingame with f5 and then type the right commands.

Hi! I have an issue with transfering the server files from my friend's game to mine. He sent me the files and I've put them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\1166331872\892970\remote\worlds but unfortunatelly it did nothing. Skoll and Hati needs lvl1 black forge, fine wood, iron and black metal, first three feasts need Cooked deer meat, Cooked boar meat, Dandelion, Deer stew, Thistle, Queens jam, Sausages, Bloodbag, Turnip stew and Woodland herb blend. Try to drop all of those on the ground and pick them up again. other than that i can only advise to restart the game, verify files... stuff like that.

As someone who conquered Ashlands twice (once during PTB mostly melee when it was MUCH harder and second time deathless purely as melee):
Yes. Melee is very much possible.
angled roof pieces can help force you underwater, but mining that leads to swimming can lead to stamina issues and you drowning so the caution to find easier iron is the better answer. farming abom trophys to fish herring for Iron is also an option if you don't want to dig at all.

You are rushing the bosses in a very strange way, rafts are usually only used in extreme emergencies when you don't have a choice, and yes you cannot use those overpowered weapons without the proper stations to repair them, it is imo a bit pointless, I am not telling you how to play the game, but why rush so fast and then have to fall back to primitive stuff or stop playing alltogether?

not a bad idea if you want, and please farm 14 copper 4 tin, craft 4 bronze (all that after killing eikthyr and getting pickaxe) and make a forge and 20 bronze nails and then a karve (need a better axe to cut down fine wood trees like birch too a bronze one etc) Karve is soooo much better than a raft, and use portals, make a mead ketill later to make potions, do some farming for better foods etc

having killed Moder will make some things a lot harder for you now, if your weapons will be broken and you can't repair them, a mechanic you may not have experienced yet, a restart would fix that and only enable that when ready

@strong blaze There is also another thing I really want to say, there is some powerful things you can do before you are "meant to" and some people find out about them and have lots of fun with it, can do that if you figure one of these out, its not gamebreaking, the overpowered equipment on the other hand is too strong and will long time create more problems then it seems to solve at first

is there a command i can run to disable the "chill down your spine" enemy attack? i've turned in Hildir's silver chest on my singleplayer farming world to get some clothing and didn't realize it would carry over to my friend's server. my buddy lost all of his boars after some 2 star fenrings kicked his compound doors down. even just disabling it temporarily is fine if i can turn it in again on their world later.
that seems like your friends server has the player based raids enabled, you can turn those off in world modifiers

there was this vid from 2 years ago where someone elevated two boars high up, in such a way that they would reproduce, but the offsprings would land out of range, letting them make a lot of boars super quick

Just make a Karve an go sailing π look for dead looking large trees around coast
Karve and sailing or if you have a particularly big starter island running around on it might yield a swamp as well.
As for any other biome, you need to travel far from spawn. Swamps are not hard to find, but you might find swamps with no [place you need to progress].
It should dissable the Brenna raid, however i am not sure how that will work on server with the player raids enabled

Swamp vegetation quality minimum, walk donβt run, start in the morning and make sure to have a good look around, itβs hit or miss really I find them all the time now that I donβt need them lol
You could combine it with clearing the small trees for wood and ancient bark
many 'nooks' for them to hide between trees and little rises--those turnips are the hardest/easiest to miss I swear
My first turnips I found in one of the huge swamp trees in the little hidey hole at the bottom

Best time to spot is dawn or dusk they are a bit better to see then, check near trees, frequently turn around for a quick peek behind you you might have ran past some without knowing.

is it worth waiting to establish a main base until you find a good ocean one isolated but in a good spot between biomes?
I start with a main base in meadows and later transition to a plains main base, so a small plains island would be ideal, as long as it can house all the farms and buildings that you need but not too big so it is possible to spawn proof it all.

Building in this game is similar to building irl.
Making the frame of your building first so it is strong, then add walls and such.
BiS vs. Yagluth (Plains boss) is Silver Sword.
If you got loads of iron, Padded Armor is really good.

Make your game set to save to local, and then go into your game files and copy the .fwl and .db files for the world you want and send them to your friend and then they place the files into their game files.

Ah, yeh I'd wait until you get to the plains after beating the mountains (after bonemass blobman) to build anything substantial then.
As for beating bonemass, an iron mace and poison resist mead with at least troll armor should be good.

So I've been having issues with livestock, specifically boar
On one hand, the game kinda encourages having big open pastures for them, so you can get more animals at one time
but with that, they become REALLY vunerable to raids like slimes and drakes
however, you can't really put them in an enclosed pen because that limits how much they can breed

That's really up to you, if you make an open pasture then you're inviting the raids like that to openly attack your livestock. I would suggest not having such a large area though. But if you're with multiple players I understand the want to. However you could make an auto breeder, and that would cut down on your losses during raids and likely increase your piggy yield which is helpful if you are playing with friends.

The part on the left is over open ground, the other has stuff built under it, so it will have better support than the one only being held by the iron wood beam, and the panel beside it.
One roof has more support from other pieces and the other has less support from other pieces than the wood iron beams and therefore is more structurally sound, as far as i can tell if I'm understanding what you're asking about.

Building stability works basically like this: every build material has a max stability. It's low for wood, higher for stone and highest for wood iron.
A piece that has max stability is blue. Every piece connected to that loses stability based on the horizontal and vertical distance to the nearest blue piece.
yeah, but both sides are identical along their entire path yet one is more stable than the other. There must be a difference somewhere but I can't find it
it's hard to tell from the pictures but i'd assume one of the bottom wood iron beams isn't properly anchored to the terrain below it but the stone.
Stone has lower max stability than wood iron so you'd lose a huge chunk right from the start.
Your best bet is pulling out your hammer and checking the lower beams to see which one doesn't match the others, then find out why.

It is actually slightly off center
but its close enough that I can connect it to the other beams
