I have a problem going on in ashlands while playing with a friend, she was fighting a monster and died when the game crashed, and when we logged in her grave its not there, nor of all our progress in the spam of 15 min

she lost all her stuff and we cant even find her grave highlighted.

When the game is closed or crashes shortly after someone dies, their grave wont save. She can load a character backup from the character select menu’s manage saves button.

If you placed items on the armor stand immediately after placing it, then this won’t have happened and it must be a player.

If you had it saved to local instead of cloud, then yes. But if you don't have access to your xbox cloud save or the game to transfer the save to your pc, then it's likely not possible.

Go both, just get more iron imo. Sword is better for wolves, mace is amazing in swamp includind swamp boss and also in mountains for golems, that way you can just mostly use the sword in mountains unless you want to make the mountain sword real fast when you get there

You can farm boars. Trap them in an enclosure or building with some berries or mushrooms and they’ll eventually eat them and start taming. Once tamed, you can feed them to breed them.

Hi!, just wanted to ask what the best food combinations for mistlands is for a magic user, do I go like 2 eitr food and 1 stamina or 2 eitr and 1 health?

Rolling makes you invincible, so it’s great for retrieving your items if he’s killing you quickly. Bosses don’t despawn, so unfortunately you will need to kill him. He only has 500 health, so even with a club he won’t take too long. You could try to craft torches and they’ll be even quicker.

You don’t need health if you have a staff of protection. Use two eitr and one stamina.

The walls (of the exterior and of the interior tower), the pillars, gates and spiked defenses can all be destroyed, but only by Pickaxe damage of tool tier 5 or higher
So i guess not? unless trolls pickaxe damage is considered a tool tier 5 or higher. But it doesn't look like it

Is there any way the cooking station doesn't take low tier meats first? Its a bit of an annoyance mid-game to have an inventory full of meat, click on the station, wanting to cook deer/wolf/fish but it places the boar/neck regaurdless of its placment in your inventory.

This is an annoyance because at this stage Boar/Neck are much better off as Sausage/Meads

It should have worked, is there any mods on server or your PC that could have changed the normal unlock behaviour? Activating power and hanging head does not change the "flag" for having killed the Elder, only killing him does it for the player or world depending on settings. This seems odd unless its a mod issue

I exploited this in a world a while ago. I defeated the original 5 bosses in a group server and brought their heads to my personal world. I can access all 5 abilities and the world still behaves as if I never defeated any boss. It's quite peaceful.

Did that in recent world to disable bat raids, I did not kill BM and killed him in another world and brought trophy and wishbone over! Because bat raid is disabled unless bat+BM are killed according to wiki. Worked so far. All other raids I don't mind at all, but I want tames to be able to enjoy the sun!

Hi all fellow Vikings.

I need some help. I am a dad of 4 kids and we all love playing Valheim. We are doing a playthrough together but there always was 1 problem. We only had 1 laptop, so we were never able to play together and always had to take turns.

This changed last month. I bought a new Gaming laptop and were finally able to play with 2 of us at the same time. but here is the issue.

Laptop 1: My steam account has my Valheim character now saved
Laptop 2: My 2nd steam account has my Kid's characters now saved.

So My kids are only able to play with me now and not with eachother.

• Is there anyway I can save all characters in the cloud (My personal cloud) and access them from both accounts?
• Is there anyway I could use the steam cloud and access all characters with both Steam accounts?
• Is there any other way?

I have posted this on Reddit aswell. Have had a few people trying to help, but it all ended with some way of sending the local save files from one laptop to the other etc... My kids are 7,7,8 & 10 and not yet that well known with PC's... So if there is any other way I hope to hear it 🙂

I don't know if other ways would actually solve it as moving files might have to be done every time you'd play in another steam account. You could have all of the characters be local to each machine, though I dont know how to do that from a steam cloud save.

If you disable steam cloud saving you will lose the characters you already have while it is disabled. (They come back if you reenable it)

don't underestimate spears, they can be awesome, I used to thing they were bad until 1k hours of gameplay later, became my favorite weapons. idk how they fare in ashlands since I didn't reach there but they can be great up to mistlands

for most enemies, it doesn't matter which weapon you use, but for the big enemies like trolls, abominatoins, lox, etc (some of the strongest mobs of each biome) it matters

spear great early game for trolls, best weapon against lox and trowing a spear into the belly of a gjall for 300+ damage will never get old to me

I only carry 1, the only enemy I throw spears against are gjalls (they are huge, it can be hard to miss) and leeches when they accumulate on the shore

I've also killed lox by throwing flint spears at them but that's not normal gameplay, I don't use the throw attack often at all

I've killed 2 star fulings and beserkers by throwing spears in situations where I was under geared for plains, but again, not normal gameplay

Friends, I have a problem with killing bosses on my server. I want every new player to kill the boss themselves. Is there such a mode?

"Player based raids" is the closest you can get, it will disable raids from other creatures that are enabled by boss kills, and if players are not present for the kill they will not get the loot items that unlock things. But there is currently no way in the Vanilla game to prevent the additional night spawns when a player kills a boss early, or stop someone from accessing the boss kill powers from someone else hanging the trophy up. hope this helps

The best resistance is used, so if you have a weakness to fire and a resistance to fire, you’ll be resistant to fire and if you have a root harnesk and bonemass power, you’ll have a normal resistance to pierce.
Serpent scale shield’s pierce resistance is applied in blocking calculations instead of damage reduction so it can stack with root harnesk/bonemass power’s pierce resistance.

By using pierce resistance and serpent scale shield you can take very low damage from the strongest pierce attacks in the game

Explore each new biome as you progress and collect as much new stuff as you can from each new biome to get all the benefits from the biome, such as new foods and gear. Always make sure you have a rested buff as it will help your skills progress faster and give you other buffs like faster stamina regen.

The surprise attack is your best friend. An arrow to a troll before they know you're there is priceless. Also, if you can stagger them with the first arrow, you can time the second one to deal increased 'stagger' damage. Then you just run (or walk to maintain stamina) away and shoot the troll when you can.

If an attack can be jumped over, jumping is better than rolling because of the stamina cost. Jump attacking allows you to keep movement mid-animation too, so learning when and where to jump in combat will really help.
You can’t do this to trolls though

Friend got error when suddenly game drops to 5 fps (200ms). Vanilla game. Normally he got around 40-60 on laptom. I suspect it is rather system problem, because sometime game restart does not help and he has to restart whole laptop. Just asking if anyone got similar problem. We have checked CPU/GPU laod, reduce graphical settings to min, looks liek has no effect.

Is this normally just at or near your base or everywhere? Also not a PC user, but I think from what I've seen here in the past, that laptops generally aren't up to snuff for this game depending on the graphics card or whatever. But it's usually an issue with too many instances in people's bases making the game lag real hard like that

There is no way to anchor them, because it's usually not needed.

I would go for plains and mistlands mix, so you can have one base at the border of it and farm everything in one go, make sure to spawn proof and have a good wall around your base.
So 4th screenshot on the right.

In my opinion ideally would be a small island that has both but finding that is slim, 2nd best imo is a plains island that is big enough to have a good piece of farm land and some loxes that you can completely spawn proof.
Then try and find a mistlands island preferably with anglerfish spawns nearby and connect both with a portal, that way you can farm all crops up to plains in the plains base, farm the rest in the mistlands base and have easy access to anglerfish.
You won't need to worry about raids destroying your base since it is spawn proofed and surrounded by ocean.

If you really want to have a fallback, you can dig under the platform and get a bunker you can retreat to. Not necessary, though, you may find it overkill.

I linked this a while ago, gonna relink it again.

First, try disabling all your mods and try again. That fixes 99% of the issues. If it works then, you can then re-enable them one by one to see which causes the problem. Also note that intended functionality of a broken mod isn't necessarily related to the issue you're having. Mods can break completely unrelated things: e.g. a mod that adds an ammo count to the UI causes the camera to break, a configuration manager mod breaks the workbench, etc.

yeah, that was my point also. my experience is fine. i have nothing to complain about. If, for example, the majority of people thought their ashlands performance was fine, why would IG spend resource to try to improve it? resources that could instead be spent finishing the final biome.

Even taking into account that negative experiences tend to be reported far more frequently than positive experiences, it seems clear that for many the game performance in Ashlands is not fine.

Now, this doesn't mean that IG need necessarily to do anything about this. Especially at this point.

But I think it is important that those that have no issues with it (and for me, the recent update seems to have significantly improved, possibly to the point where I wouldn't have noticed them if this had been my first experience, the performance issues. Though, we still have not spent as much time there post-update, as we did before it, so it's hard to say (and we've not done any of the things (such as attacking a fortress) where the issues became particularly noticeable)) recognise that some do, that those experiences are valid, and that telling people to make changes to their configurations (such as disabling features of other apps and utilities they may use) isn't a good solution.

yeah, I think the only thing capable of deleting map markings is the player, hildir's map won't do it. I doubt it's necessary to delete everything but you could do it

I've seen something similar with boss altar markings:

• Game updates changing world generation somehow
• Player had the location of a boss altar but never visited before the update
• When the player reaches the location, the new world generator doesn't generate boss altar in that location
• Clicking the boss' altar location runestone again will give the player the closest new correct location of the boss altar, since that is it's only function

There are multiple issues that can cause this so I’m not too sure what could help.

Is your connection ok in other games?

How long does it last? If it’s just a couple of seconds every few minutes that’s completely normal.

@south goblet You can generally download the world folder from the server provider. There should be a tutorial on how to do so from said provider. Sometimes they provide FTP services, where you can connect and download files. Or they might have a direct backup option.

So if your subscription runs out, but youve downloaded the world to your local machine, you should be able to drop it in your saves folder for the game, and run it there locally

I think before, Most providers would let you know a few days in advance that your subscription would need to be renewed. There sometimes is a grace period before the server is wiped

if you managed to get a finewood bow you can shoot him from very far away and walk him round trees peppering him with arrows to defeat him before you get to the better gear that makes it even easier, even a crude bow works just not as good

also you can roll and iframe the troll, but its better to learn that on an easier mob maybe but you can do it in Valheim and its reasonably forgiving too

No. I had just finished making fire arrows to fight an abomination near the swamp. The event started.The first circle disappeared. I killed the trolls. Fixed my base. Got more feathers from birds around the base. Made more fire arrows then they came back

Is there any way to monitor non-dedicated Valheim servers locally (the one you start via the "Start server" checkbox on the game) ?

With python, I've tried to check ports (everything seemed to be handled with dynamic ports, unlike the dedicated servers that have a specific port) and I've even tried with the Steam API (which only returned information about dedicated servers). No luck in any of them.

terrain edges follow the cardinal diretions South, West, North and East. If you try to dig in a direction besides those it won't make a square and look like your picture, full of corners

you gotta have discovered bronze nails and fine wood, meaning you need them to have them in your inventory at least once, just looking at them or moving them inside a chest doesn't count. But unless you're in a server this wouldn't even be an option

It’s not obvious from the picture what they are. The ‘vertical item stand’ is a hanging sword, and the ‘horizontal item stand’ is a tankard. IIRC.
