Increasing physical damage per hit gain by player character... Or slower movement and attack speed...

#

I hope a theme of the Deep North is different movement methods, and mastering them is what gates your progress. Skating/skiing/dog sledding, navigating ice, freezing winds, or deep snow, I think it would make the last biome feel really unique.

#

Especially if combat was integrated. Imagine trying to kite and land blows on super fast enemies while skating/sledding across a frozen lake, dodging incoming ranged AOE attacks and avoiding getting bogged down by enemies. Trying to keep your momentum so the ice doesn't crack under you.

The biggest thing I like about Valheim is how you are free to play however you want
The biggest complaints I have about Valheim are the times where that isn't true and you're forced through a funnel to play in 1 or a much smaller selection of ways

This focus on movement and such sounds like it would be a VERY narrow funnel and I really hope that doesn't happen

#

Adding new options definitely sounds cool!
Forcing you to use them definitely not

#

I feel they would have to add some sort of new movement option as a final reward. I mean, you've traversed the whole map south to north, giving you another way to improve travel from now on seems perfect
But as someone who really likes to take things slow with health food heavy diets, heavy armor, and shields and then focusing on parries in combat.
Being forced to run around a ton goes against all of that.

The most narrow funnel I've seen actually in game so far is Bonemass nearly requiring clubs but that's just a boss fight so I gotta just tough it out and switch back to what I like after, it's only a weapon change for me but my archer buddy toughed it out too.
If it was a whole biome that would be too much. I wouldn't ask my archer buddy to switch to sword and board for a whole biome and I wouldn't want him to ask me to switch to light armor and bows for a whole biome

While i see your point about not being forced into a kite-heavy, dodging playstyle, i still think there's room for movement related challenges for tanks as well. For example if there were periodic storms that could blow you in a certain directions unless you used an ice pick tool to anchor yourself to the ice, and then you have to deal with enemies while having limited movement.

The trick would be in making mastering at least one of these challenges required.

#

Could also add a mechanic where if you're in the lee of some terrain you're safe from the wind. Just send some rays from the player in a cone pointed into the wind of a certain length. If enough hit terrain, you're not affected by the Blown debuff. Also dont apply if Sheltered.

  1. you are not in the normal world vikings lived when you are playing.
  2. valheim isn't a viking simulator, it's based on viking age, but it's not a 100% accurate game.
  3. adding horses to the game would require alot of balancing.
  4. you can ride other things already.
crimson river

Point being, whatever is added should for the most part be 1 of 2 things, either fantastical/alien, or lore accurate. if it's something from the real world that didnt belong near vikings, that breaks immersion. This goes for basically all entertainment based on real culture or history.

Adding ostritches or african elephants would probably break immersion.

But you are now comparing a simple almost guaranteed aoe stagger vs actually being able to break the whole biome with the special effects.

Again, you would be able to root multiple enemies as well as activating the chain lightning that deals 75 damage each MULTIPLE TIMES

You would have little to no reason to use any other weapon because a nature and very especially a chain lightning atgeir would destroy everything.

#

As if atgeir was not op enough, the chain lightning spam with the secondary would be WAY too broken

granite geyser
# sick breach The root is from the stagger or...?

Both nature and lightning are procced individually per enemy hit.

Meaning that rooting a whole army or the chain lightning activating more than once would be possible.

Chain lightning alone would one shot whole armies. While it would make sense to be able to destroy many enemies easily, it would just make atgeir a no-brainer

Mistland still worry's me. there is possible to jump on a rocks only if you eat 2-3 food for agility. Usualy you eat HP/aether so it is absolutley impossible to climb at the walls of rocks. How you was test this location? For my 30 years of gaming experience i set Mistlands as №1 the most worst locatiom ever made (and i saw a lot of trash). I can compare Mistlands with Emerald forest in WoW in Pandaria or underwater locations without vision. Уou cant see and cant move as both in one time - you cant do that. You want to cause players to feel a psychodrama or mental insane people? Only one location is kill all the game - remake this. Add walkable path, bridges and base building on a Teldrasill Tree, etc. From any sight Mistlands is full unplayable even if you hardcore player with very nice skills. No way. Rianu you're impossible. Stop typing and start reading.

The point i already made - that you missed - is that there already are best options in the game... yet the game continued to work. So saying you can't add an atgeir cause it would be the new optimal weapon is a bad argument, since you could use it it to say the current optimal weapons shouldn't be in the game.

As for the seemingly impossible task of balancing an atgeir with chain lightning, maybe don't allow chain lightning off secondary attack? Maybe proc it on first enemy hit? Maybe proc once and split the damage amongst all enemies hit? Maybe just dont allow an iolite upgrade? Maybe make the lightning effect different than normal? There's a ton of balancing options you're purposely ignoring.

Oh and "the best choice" is exactly equivalent to "the only logical choice." Get real.

To get magic you have to play 100-300 days for 50-100 hours, walk through 5 bioms and reach Mistlands, but you still cant get magic)) You have to clear 4 dungeons and construct a LOT and more a LOT of items for wizard gear. After 100-200 hours you finally get all gear and it does not impress you after all this way. Why not make magic in biome 5? Will it make it worse? No, only better! Game dynamic is very low. You think this is fun? Fun = this is to breaking a rules. Valheim is full linear progress. You always has to little possibilities. Pikes is sill unplayavle. Daggers is useless, etc. This is very simple to undeerstand that you have to rework combat system for much better and different gameplay. You were promise to rework combat system (maybe as Conan), but still you has a lot of problems with mobs on a inclined surface, to limit actions, to little possibilities, etc.

I really love the idea of adding more atmosphere to the game.
Having ways to foreshadow the boss of the biome is always a cool thing a game can add.
Rune stones kinda do that, but I feel more can be done with ambient noises or foreboding shapes in the mist.

sick breach
# fossil coral To get magic you have to play 100-300 days for 50-100 hours, walk through 5 biom...

Magic is widely conaidered one of the most OP weapons to use. Having to go a long time and through a lot of effort is what makes finally acquiring magic feel like such an achievement. I can agree that the game gets a little repetitive from swamps to plains, could use some new mechanics, but i still think locking magic near the end makes it more... magical.

Not sure if "pike" is referring to spears or atgeir. Either way both have their uses, atgeir in particular is great.

spiral fog
#

when you enter the black forest you are harassed by the amount of types of weapons it offers, player has 3 next biomes to get familiar with all the stuff and then magic is introduced i dont see a problem.
also every weapon in valheim is useful, daggers for starting fights, atgeirs for stunning etc. you can combine them all to make your own battle style and thats absolutely fantastic. combat doesnt need any changes for now

honest salmon
# fossil coral To get magic you have to play 100-300 days for 50-100 hours, walk through 5 biom...

"daggers" aka knives are fantastic as they are, my favourite all around weapon next to swords. If you consider them "useless" you clearly haven't figured out how to actually use them, probably you are ignoring the special attack on them.
You seem to have little overall experience with the game, yet you keep asking for sweeping changes. That's not very convincing.
The only actual issue I agree with is melee combat on slopes, which really could do with a fix.

lofty wave
#

Melee combat on slopes doesn’t need fixing because it’s not broken

stiff stag
#

It's definitely broken when all it takes is for a slight incline to make your attacks miss, meanwhile an enemy can hit you fine regardless, like the issue doesn't exist the other way around. This is especially notable with wolves, which are much lower to the ground and live in an area with many varying inclines/slopes, often leading to 1 sided fights when a flat enough area isn't accessible.

lofty wave
#

It doesn’t work like other games, but that doesn’t make it broken. You have to position yourself correctly.

stiff stag
#

Again what was described is why it's broken. A wolf for example can hit you just fine from above or below, but the other way around a player can't hit a wolf in either case. And it only takes a slight incline to cause the issue. And positioning yourself correctly more often than not is not possible in an environment with many such inclines and few flat areas.

in the Ashlands, a condor kills you in 3 hits if you're wearing a mage's clothes or if there 3 condor - instant death. What mage OP weapons?) You joking? Mage gear has a bunch of staves that don't fit into the slots. There's not enough either even to kill skeleton. You wasted your aether and you have to hit with melee weapons... and you done. This is horribly bad game design. Magic was absolutely useless in Mistland and its even more unplayable in Ashlands. Im disappointed a lot of it.

# fossil coral stop typing without thinking. Think a lot what i typed and then think more. No n...

Alex, you're the one not thinking. Blob is correct, use the staff of protection and you can tank hits. You will have twice as much health as someone eating 2 highest tier health foods. This in turn frees you up to eat two eitr and one stamina food, since your regular health is irrelevant; just always have a shield up. If you're in full mage gear and you've got melee weapons in your hotslots that's the problem. You're a mage, act like it. Use the frost stave for single enemies, fire stave for multiple. Leave the melee weapons and shields at home.

Mage is the most OP because you can kill enemies at range while running and jumping. Unlike every other fighting style, the resource you use to attack is NOT also the resource you would use to runaway. A mage can fire off a salvo of attacks and still have full stamina for kiting.

Magic is OP. Not weak. You're just bad at problem solving.

I know the reason they won't allow you to attack up/down is because it could be exploited, which I assume ties into why the issue exists in the first place, because it isn't an easy thing to fix or balance without causing other issues. So it's still broken regardless, it's just not likely to be dealt with given the circumstances (and that's ultimately okay, since valheim is a game about learning and adapting to situations).

I've done a quick search on inventory slots and backpack and seen a few discussion points, but have there been any official comments/posts about adding a backpack?
My issue is having to have 4-6 slots for armour, 3 slots minimum for food, slots for potions, arrows, etc etc etc, leaving me with only 10 or so spots left in my inventory.
I'm more than fine with having a carry weight limit and not needing that to be increased (as we have the belt that does that) but I regularly run out of inventory slots and have to decide in certain moments what is more important and drop the "least important" thing.

wanton atlas

#

what is more important?

#

etc etc

balmy mountain
#

Fair enough. I can understand that. I very rarely run out of capacity (unless carrying ore/stone/wood in bulk) but regularly run out of slots. But if the weighing my options of what's important etc is as intended then it is what it is. I'll just have to start making more bulk carts everywhere 😅

wanton atlas
#

if you had more inventory space. carts wouldn't have any reason to exist 🤔

#

if you had more inventory space, you would never need to build more bases

stiff stag
#

Overall I still haven't found inventory management to be a problem, especially when you have access to portals. Although I still haven't entered the ashlands yet, so can't comment on what it's like there (from the discussions I've seen it sounds like the amount of available items skyrockets, meaning inventory management is made much more restrictive when the space available isn't made to compensate for that influx).

wanton atlas
#

(and he got warned multiple times each time he break rules. we just don't publicly show when people are warned or timed out for longer periods of time)

balmy mountain
# wanton atlas if you had more inventory space. carts wouldn't have any reason to exist 🤔

I disagree. I wanted 1 more row in the inventory and that being given via another item (which I would presumably have to carry, in a backpack). So I would only be obtaining 7 more slots which in now way makes carts obsolete.
Same for extra bases. My main base has somewhere between 50-100 chests, with other bases (accessed by portals) set up with chests in them as well.
What I was suggesting wasn't unlimited spaces like the mod provides, just a way in which we can use some of the materials in the game to give us slightly more slots as we regularly have to carry multiple light weight items that fill our inventory that get us no where near the carry limit.
I personally don't think it changes the dynamic or mechanics of other things like chests or carts in the game at all, but it's not my game so if you don't want to put it in, it is what it is.

Charred bones useless as ever, skulls, prostite powder, sulfur, any of the meats, then you get regular bones and stone from all the things Morgens break, asksvin bladders which are throwaway trash, it goes on and on

I think the same, for example. It would make sense if we needed charred bones to build the wooden pieces. Also some items could just be used with multiple purposes. Like the prostite powder, sulfur and charcoal resin could easily be one single item (and serve for many purposes).
And "retrosee" old drops and items like Obsidian. It has zero uses, and could be substitute with another item for the "Tool Shelf" upgrade.

It seems Ike it would be easy to abuse to me. If you die during a raid, you would essentially respawn with your full rested buff, which could take away from raid. Also, a lot of players don’t necessarily have their respawn point as their max-comfort zone. And lastly, I feel like waiting a few seconds to get your rested buff goes hand in hand with regenerating your health.

Just my opinion! Not a bad suggestion.

The "they don't have to tell you" part can also mean "don't expect to get a response", because you're not likely to get an answer from most people. And asking for people's reasoning for voting in general tends to be frowned upon, although the distinction between looking for information vs calling someone out for their vote is often lost or overlooked. In the future you can ask for information in other ways, such as saying "anyone have any insight on why this idea isn't being received well?", or simply by discussing your own thoughts to start a conversation on the topic (which others may then chime in with their own thoughts as well, also potentially leading to an answer).

For the serverside characters mod, it requires you to create your own character beforehand and then join using that character and the character data itself is stored in the server directory. I’m not saying I want purely server characters, but an option to use a launch parameter in the server launch batch file itself. In my mind it should eliminate the need to create a character beforehand and store the whole created character/data in the server directory. I don’t understand the reasoning behind not wanting to implement something like this. Maybe I’m not understanding something fundamental about how dedicated servers work.

Reminds me of core keeper where you make or find backbacks dropped by powerful foes to equip to give you +5 and up to +20 inventory slots.

Obviously the latter to too much.
heck just +5 would be plenty slots.
The only downside is, when you die on corekeeper you keep your backpack because it's in a special slot.
Valhiem you drop everything on death so that wouldn't work that well. because you would need to pull the backpack from your grave, equip it, then take everything else.

I had the equippable bag idea as well, but implementing it with current mechanics would be difficult and inconvenient.

#

Trying to apply real world logic to a video game is naturally going to lead to issues. Many natural properties have to be dropped or altered to fit the design to make it work. For example the amount of materials put into something wouldn't actually make what you get in return if it were realistic (in a lot of cases the product ends up being more than what was put into it). So that's one potential explanation for the weight increase here. Although we'll never know the actual reasoning unless we hear it from the developers themselves.

spiral sleet
#

Sure, but I think it also depend case by case

wanton atlas
#

if we added the same weight to a weapon, that the ore required to make them... no weapons / armor could be weilded 🤔

spiral sleet

I think it depends on whether that realism clashes with the way the game can be played

And I don't see a particular advantage of the way the weight is assigned in this case, other than if it's firmly believed that the currently assigned weight definitely has a better impact on the gameplay here

If you're at mistlands tier and want to explore mistlands than you should only grab mistlands ingredients to cook mistlands food.

I will say
I do kind of agree that giving an additional option to the on/off for auto pick-up, where you can only auto pick up things already in the inventory would be a nice third state to that toggle.
How difficult that would be to implement, I am not sure, but it seems way easier than making a manually configurable filtering system.

Edge case here I can see for this solution to the "My inventory runneth over with crap" problem is that you couldn't auto pick up your spear after tossing it because there isn't one already in your inventory.

Recently, I was paying attention to some drops and there's some kind of inconsistency amoun similar ones. For example, Molten cores can stack up to 20 while surtling core is up to 10 (it could be also 20).
Also some "smaller" things could stack up to 50. Not realistic saying one could carry 9 packs of 50 units of wood. For instance the Troll Stealth Bonus, or the Fenris movespeed bonus armor could be upgraded and made stronger, so they could remain viable in later biomes.

Aesthetic in most cases, but I think it is better to do that with mods anyway. xD My idea would "replace" the beams and poles and angled beams into a single building piece (not only for roofs now that you said); They are basically the same thing (despite some angled differences like 45º being longer). So a single piece with that snap point would save a lot of slots from the building menu as well

#

It would be so much better pressing a key and my pole becoming a beam and then a 26º and then a 45º and then (if not added a 67º) back to being a pole, rather than opening the menu (or pressing shift+mouse).

The main issue is that the full root set is obtained well before crossbows are accessible, and by the time they are, it would be impractical to use the full root set anyway over much more viable sets or mixed and matched sets.

stiff stag
#

I see absolutely nothing wrong with portals as they are now. Quite literally just a way to cut down on massive needless extra travel time (namely over areas you would otherwise end up travelling by dozens of times). And stone portals being accessible so late in the game is why they are balanced and a good reward to have for all of the trouble up until that point. The proposed suggestion would just ruin the whole portal system, and most of it looks like nonsensical additions/changes, adding a bunch of random new stuff and way overcomplicating things. There also isn't any need for a "solution" to something that isn't broken in the first place.

Early game portals are a convenience to cut out tons of needless tedium (again cutting out having to travel across the same old areas you've already explored dozens of times over). If they were only accessible later in the game it would only serve as a massive time waster. And metals not being allowed through them is already a solid way to keep them from being an issue (since you have to manually travel back in those cases, often with multiple trips).

karmic sage
stiff stag
#

At the end game, the main purpose of all previous metals has already been fulfilled, meaning it's no longer unbalanced/broken to take them through portals (for instance you're not going to need to make bronze weapons, armor, etc. at that point and it only serves as a building material, so why should it not be allowed through portals so late in the game for convenience?). Personally I would have preferred it to work in stages (defeat the elder and you can take copper, tin, and bronze through. Defeat bonemass and you can transport iron, and so on), but what we got is fine as well (since various metals have a lot of uses in mistlands, it's fair that that ability becomes available after that rather than before).

"Portals accessible from early game." Is this supposed to be inherently bad? Others have said it's fine as it only reduces tedius backtracking, so you need to explain what makes the earlyness of portals bad here.

"It's hard to travel same old areas many times there." What is this supposed to be arguing?

"So after hardworking in the endgame you and many other voters think it's okay just take 'easy portal mod'" If you think it's not OK you need to explain why. We have no reason to change our minds here.

I try to explain alll idea and i hope u will satisfied

current situation:
early game. from the 2-3 crypts player can make a portal. Its cool but not so important in early stages because all main activity is in maximum 200m range. And most important and interesting part is an exploring. All what you need is a fast tp for sleeping, or unloading your pockets and back. Sometimes you can forgot to destroy your previous tp and that most annoying then long travel. Link is used, portal on other island, wind in bad direcrion. Thats why i guess temporary tp with cheaper recipe and which spend 1 slot instead 3 - is better.

Mid game. After few more crypts and because very cheap recipe player already can make 10-20-30-unlimit portals. Portal to blueberry, portal to strawberry, etc. zero responsibility. even mobs doesnt destroy them. Players destroys and bring their ships on mountain through the tp. etc etc. And this is looks like a trash. Just ruin all traveling. Thats why i guess a regular portal should have at leaast harder recipe. Using only for an important spots (checkpoints etc), not on each bush and ore vein. Or maybe creatures should be more aggresive for portals?

End game. now its an only "easy mod" with no cost for action. U cannot tp your pets, still have to link 2 only 2 portals. Thats why i think that really cool and usefull feature is a teleport with pets. as a Bifrǫst. And tp without link just spell, YELL in tp triggerBox a name of destination
And for tp metals some payments. for more responsible.

Nobody says that tp in earlygame should be removed. please read attentively

karmic sage

Being able to teleport mounts and pets would be cool true. Transporting them in a less janky way would be more desired personally.

Also sure you can make a lot of portals to every little thing in midgame, but you don't need to, but it is an option a player can choose.
A player can also choose to be very sparing with their use as well.
Ultimately it's their choice that the game allows.

I feel imposing too strict restrictions would make that level of tedium detract from playing for some.
But if the player wants to set that restriction on them self then they have the freedom to.
they can also disable portals entirely via world modifiers if they so wish.

But the game allows portals at that stage.
And I think that's a good stage to introduce the player to them.
It hits them with the knowledge that "Yo this world is massive and you might need these for your own sanity."

That is my thoughts on the matter.

#

For instance, I like to be sparing with my portals, treating my world like a classic Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest overworld map where there are like 1-3 portals on a continent depending on it's size.
Instead of a hub, I use a "stargate" where I dial in it's map tag and link it up to a nicely made portal station.

Make it's feel more mystical and special if they aren't all over the place and have like podiums or arches or a temple.

That's how I use them when I play.

We read your post, the broken English just made it impossible to understand a lot of it (the communication errors are on your end, not ours, and the lack of self awareness is blinding you to that fact), and the overall ideas were just odd/bad/unfitting. Not being able to set up permanent portals early game causes the same issue of backtracking (something that only serves to add needless tedium and time wasting) as if there were no portals early game in general (a distinction you missed/didn't understand). And the new portal you proposed is a very poor execution of the idea and doesn't fit well in the game at all (requires a lot of extra nonsense and overcomplicates what's meant to be a simple convenience feature).

I don't mind as long as we don't get more feint attacks.

#

Feint attacks would be fine if there was an earlier indicator the enemy was using one, so the player doesn't have to guess

inner urchin
#

Well to be fair the charred warriors were actually fun enemies to fight. Sure it's hard to tell when they attack but you can already dodge 90% of their attack due to slow swing speed and speed itself and you're not gonna take hots if you know what you're doing.

Could be really good to see for returning enemies using feint attacks.

sure, it would make a one on one fight a lot more interesting, but if there are multiple enemies, losing a third of your maximum health, or a big chunk of stamina, would really, really hurt

Eikthyr, elder, moder, and the queen can all be resummoned indefinitely. Bonemass can't, but practically speaking it doesn't matter with how many of the summon item you get. Yagluth can't either since the only renewable source of totems is cut off after beating him. Can't comment on the Ashland's boss since I haven't made my way there yet.

#suggestions message
You go from an undead eternal army of Ashlands to fight alive-ish combatants that have set themselves up in the DN and will fight to protect their territory you encroach on. They will be brutal and enduring and fight smart to always keep the player on their toes. Being able to rally or spawn other troops would be an interesting mechanic and make the player feel like the enemy is equal to their own power.

@chrome sluice troll raid is literally the easiest to avoid...

Run away from your base. There, problem solved

#

Just avoiding attacks and running away until timer runs out is enough

stiff stag

Not to mention something that could ward off enemies would completely defeat the point of raids. Already bad enough that terrain manipulation is exploited for that purpose, or spamming work benches/etc. to prevent spawns altogether.

I miss my nokia 3330, such a solid thing, I had it for 8 years and then lost it.
A car drove over it when it fell out of my pocket when I was going for a bike ride, got washed in the washing machine, soaked true when I was caught in a rain storm.
It kept on working, the letters were faded and there was a slight chip of a corner of the case but it worked.
Just taking it apart letting it dry out and put it back together and voila.

What is the reasoning behind No to unique trophies for starred creatures? It was suggested quite a lot , but I see devs and discord dwellers are against it.

As cool as it would be, there would be a massive increase in inventory bloat, which imo outweighs the positives.

@cerulean bolt When you roll (block+jump) you can’t take damage to enemy attacks, which is perfect for getting your items back in a dangerous situation

cerulean bolt
#

No read it again

#

I addressed this problem

#

So if you’ve fought the boss and lost and now want to spawn him again as the boss despawned, you would just have to interact with it. Only the first time you spawn a boss it consumes the summoning items.

lofty wave
#

Another reason why bosses shouldn’t despawn that was brought up recently because of a similar suggestion is that the player would have to do all the damage again if they die towards the end of the fight, and some of the later bosses can be very tanky so a player would lose a lot of time for what could potentially be a small mistake with how punishing the later bosses can be

#

In other games where this system does work well, the bosses usually don’t take anywhere near as long to kill

cerulean bolt
#

I mean me as someone who plays soulslike games wouldn’t mind that. Games you enjoy you usually want to last as long as they can and that would make rhe fights much more rewarding

cerulean bolt
lofty wave
#

Terraria, soulslikes and probably some others I can’t think of right now

cerulean bolt
#

Yeah, well my suggestion comes from something that really ruined my experience and in my opinion can be handled better.

lofty wave
#

In those games the fights are short, so when the bosses are reset the player doesn’t lose as much progress

cerulean bolt
lofty wave
#

Not with valheim’s later bosses

cerulean bolt
#

And are much harder, in valheim the bosses have like three moves total

cerulean bolt
#

I stopped at bonemass

lofty wave
#

The later bosses take much longer to kill and have larger movesets with harder-to-dodge attacks.

cerulean bolt
#

That sounds really nice

#

If my idea was implemented this would make it even nicer in my opinion

#

Your counterarguments are not very significant yk

lofty wave
#

I think more bosses could have a proper arena like the current final 3, but valheim’s bosses just have too much health to be reset

cerulean bolt
#

Hmm, but bosses should be designed so that they can be killed upon first time summoning

cerulean bolt
#

I really don’t see the problem in a health reset

cerulean bolt
lofty wave
granite geyser

cerulean bolt

I think no

And it was very far away like I had to sail

#

But still going back and then the boss is still there doesn’t feel good too in my opinion

#

I want to summon him and kill him and not go back desperately and having to get my items

#

Might be preference at this point but as I said, ruined it for me

#

And still I don’t see any major counterarguments

#

The one you mentioned in the beginning I addressed because that was something I thought of too. Softlocking would be a major problem

lofty wave
#

I don’t see any major arguments from you either. Just ‘I play other games where bosses reset so valheim should do it too’

finite vapor
#

Not hard to recover stuff in swamp. Just wait until you die in the ashlands or Queen fight Ragnar_laugh

#

In any case it's what backup gear and meads are for

cerulean bolt
cerulean bolt

Even the arena thing I mentioned? Idk it sounds better to me than having to fight of swamp creatures simultaneously

finite vapor
#

Bonemass's attacks are super slow and telegraphed. I'd imagine the poison is killing you? Or the other draugrs? Just shoot them with a spare bow and bring a poison mead

cerulean bolt
lofty wave
finite vapor
#

I think random creatures adding to the fight makes them unpredictable and interesting, even if it's a little frustrating. Actually makes moder much much harder with a couple wolves or drakes jumping in at the wrong time.

cerulean bolt
#

And even the poison you couldn’t have known upon summoning to prepare potions

lofty wave
finite vapor
#

Yes it's normal you get rekt you learn poison mead helps you come back and smack him

cerulean bolt
cerulean bolt
#

I mean with the iron armor being as expensive as it is

#

And I imagine the latter armor has the same problem

lofty wave
#

You can use your old equipment as backup

cerulean bolt
#

But then one bonemass hit would obliterate you

lofty wave
#

You shouldn’t be getting in melee range of him. If he’s guarding your stuff you should be luring him away.

cerulean bolt
#

I think this is what happens to me back then

cerulean bolt
#

Just let him despawn and let me try as soon as I feel ready

#

Shouldn’t be hard to implement

#

Maybe I accidentally spawned the boss with way too low lvl equipment and now I can’t explore the area anymore because of the overleveled boss that won’t disappear

#

I think I’m going for a support ticket with this idea of mine

finite vapor
long glacier
stiff stag
cerulean bolt
#

But it’s fine. Good talk guys

stiff stag
#

Preference does not mean anything here. If you don't prefer valheim's intended gameplay and design (or any other game like that), then you simply don't play those types of games or learn how to adapt.

cerulean bolt
#

Valheim is not a genre tho. If something would improve the general player experience than chances are high that it will be implemented

stiff stag
#

Its gameplay is part of a genre that clearly isn't your speed.

cerulean bolt
#

Which genre?

#

It’s just a survival game with its own methodology. They can and will do whatever they want because no invisible restrictions or laws are holding them

#

Or rather principles

stiff stag
#

They already do what they want, and what they want is for bosses to remain after you die (otherwise it wouldn't have been designed that way in the first place). Either adapt to the situation or stop playing if you can't handle the gameplay the developers chose for their game to have. It's meant to be a brutal survival experience (not just light/casual survival experience like you seem to have mistaken it as), and having bosses despawn so you can more easily get your stuff back does not fit with that at all.

cerulean bolt
#

I mean no one knows why bosses don’t despawn, it might also be sloppy design

#

What I’m trying to say is that there are no rules or even other games valheim has to abide to which is true

#

So you guys know for a fact why bosses don’t despawn or what’s up with the facepalms

long glacier
#

Yes, the developers can make whatever decision they want, they don’t need to base it off anything else. This is the choice they made

cerulean bolt
#

Exactly and if my idea would be persuasive enough there would be no reason for the devs to not implement my idea, or am I wrong?
