Two star torch fuling, kinda scary when wearing root chest and no barley wine...
Oooof, that would be quick death
He had a one star torch guy in tow, ugly little things were out for me
Could be. Not overly similar to the portals ingame though, in terms of overall shape
I would say it is quite close ๐ค
How hard should it be to get a bear trophy? I think we killed 22 bears on the servers and no trophy
Yeah, but I kinda wanna earn it
word
Someone prolly knows the actual statistics, but 22 bears and no trophy probably isn't that rare of an occurrence
The drop rate is 10%
The statisctics stuff goes right over my head but seems to me you are getting just a tiny bit unlucky ๐
10% is 10%
Consults with statistics:
It is still 10%
Nothing complicated ๐ ๐
Meh i just remember the lenghty discussions what the chances are after how many attempts and... Bleh...
Still 10%.
yes makes me go bleh too
Engineering statistics was the only class that I almost failed, I hate stats.
Imagine stats but with sig figs
Everything is just 1% because sig fig logic totally makes sense. ๐
10.% ๐
๐
Plains.
Plains has Tar, which gives you Darkwood.
Wasn't trying to directly spoil but you hit me with the "only has birch"...
Well, supposed spoiler to you ๐
Since you asked "Darkwood?".
RNG is so weird. I have settled on this enormous island with lots of every biome up to and including Mistlands - with a lot of plains. Yet so far I have not found a single tar pit... On other worlds they have been more or less everywhere, so this is unfamiliar...
Hell yeah, complain-on-discord theory strikes true again, found a tar pit right now...

Humor aside, I have had some plains where there are not tar pits. Then others where it seems I cannot turn around without seeing one. So RNG can make things seem at least a little off.
Now it would be great if RNG would make me find a fuling village every time I turn around.
No no, the magic only works if you word it like a complaint xD
This might be an unpopular opinion, but it would be fun to have npc's who would live in your old bases x)
Why can't I find a fuling village every time I turn around?!? RNG SUCKS!!
It's a common enough suggestion. Check youtube, I've seen some players use clever tricks to capture mobs and make them passive so they just stand there providing a bit of, uh, company.
A friend of mine got me started on using the armor stands with various armors on them to populate our bases. ๐
yeah, that is a mod xD
I ment like some sort of vikings who would move in and defend it and stuff xD
I get that. Just with Valheim as it is, thats the closest I can get.
Not neccesarily ๐ you can make greydwarfs, greylings or necks not to attack anything if you have fire near them
Yeah!
you have the bees, which are happy i hope
Yeah, I know, but npc's would be cool
Wolves are the closest I can get. They feel like company, and they do defend the base.
you can make a base around a dvergr tower and you got company
True, or one of those areas where they randomly spawn. Which would include the Ashlands, not that I feel any need to make a base I live in there.
yea nah, not there.
i like taking over the forts in ashlands
That just looks wrong xD
But very nice find non the less
If you find the petrified skull it should never be empty ๐ค so probably ribs
yea def then.
had a 2** fire mage & 2 rogue there and with some squidos help we got them. We carried that extractor thing to the base only later to find out about the branches, haul it back
Never say never with Valheim...
Well unless you dig the brains out yourself.. It really should never be empty xD
I love when biome borders cause the odd burial chamber to appear in plains etc, it gives a lovely bit of variety
Speaking of which, found a beehive in my favorite black forest tower. The one with steps and a terrace around it. So thats still a find you can have.
Still the only BF tower type I have ever found a beehive in as well.
was the ribs2
Ideally, but I am pretty sure I found a skull that was empty, but I apparenlty didn't take a screenshot of it, so maybe it was just playing Valheim too far into the night kind of induced delirium...
Well, if the right circumstances are in place the inside could be broken without you knowing and the soft tissue could despawn ๐ค
You would need a skull that has no piece of soft tissue touching support, a seeker soldier in the vicinity and something close to the skull that would aggro the soldier.
No idea as to why. Regardless, I don't have a screen shot of it, so it may just be delirium speaking.
I see that parts of deep north are linked to islands with various biomens, unlike ashlands, fully separated.
For now. They may change the maps for it.
got a black forest near it as a mountain
Hmm? They should be separated just like ashlands ๐ค just with it having more smaller islands for now (no idea if it will change)
won`t get close to generate that
I don't recall going into the Ashlands before it was actually made, from other biomes, but I didn't go there much anyways, to preserve the map generation for it.
My wife says we did. (She is sitting next to me. :D)
They used to be connected to other biomes if the landmasses were across the border of them ๐
-# And i believe they technically still are, but the height map is forcefully changed around them to create the ocean border.
just glad updates work with all seeds until now
I hope they do NOT do similar with The North. That ocean border got me started with hating the Ashlands, and it only got worse from there.
seems pretty far away as it shows
center area is more far, sides are similarly close by
Well the ocean border is there too, but it doesent dmg ships like ashlands waters do, and i dont think it will after its out since we were shown in the teasers that you can get there by longship ๐
Yeah, their giving us that huge boat, that we HAVE to use to get to Ashlands, then giving us that tight formation of rocks to go through, was not IG's best moments in game design decisions.
As far as I am concerned, anyways. Others may have loved it.
if i play valheim on 2 diff devices (through steam) do i have the same world across devices?
It does if you have cloud saves on.
I'm able to play the game at both my PC and laptop and even am able to load up the same world save in the map generator on both devices.
Recommended hosting service for 90+ mod server
This might be an unpopular opinion
it certainly is
Good evening everyone
My spike generation was tight enough to do some cool maneuvering but not so tight as to get me stuck.
I had fun, but I agree with you, not good if it can ruin a players time
Interesting that Zil`s head weighs 2.0, as much as Thungrs head. Must have dense brain
evening fellas.
I think ive turned around on inventory slots. Rich, i know, coming from the guy that got the entire reddit sub arguing at me a week ago, but i think that theres definitely merit to be had with the sheer number of downloads for the basic inventory expansion mods.
Even a traditionalist developer like fromsoftware looks at the most popular mods, and goes "you know what thats a good idea, lets do that for our next game."
๐คข
So obviously frost is gonna be a huge part of the danger of the deep north, but im really hoping lightning gets some solid representation as well.
There are, as of current release, 2 enemies that can hit the player with lighting damage, Eikthyr and Yagluth.
Yagluth's forsaken power includes resistance to lightning damage, that checks out, since we seem to get elemental resistance from the boss associated with that element.
It's kinda useless, however, since Yagluth's fire damage is more dangerous than his lighting, and Eikthyr is as dangerous as his honking kin by the time you conquer the Plains.
So I pray to all the aesir, vanir, and joten that we get some visually stunning, terrifyingly deadly, fulgurously charged threats in the deep north. Maybe just ape that also extremely underutilized ice-lightning from Elden Ring.
Maybe decrease rock density but yeah it was a bit of a nightmare navigating the ashland waters especially when theres multiple bonemaws on yo a-
But you'll only have to do it once, once you get through and build a base there
I can imagine deep north having obstacles in the waters aswell but not as deadly compared to ashland boulders
Perhaps it will be shifting currents, shoving your ship and ice floats alike? Moder's tailwind will be the best way to stay somewhat on course. Totally spitballing here.
Or maybe a 5th type of ship with an icebreaker on the bow, and thats the Fader item we need to craft it.
whatever comes out of north, great. As long as they give me this gate
build option
What if the Deep North is the ocean update and the whole biome is underwater... being the DEEP north ๐
I better find that gate deep down there then
Valheim's early game is so relaxing for me. ๐
Boating is also relaxing
FACTS
So I wanted to wait until the next update to play valheim but more and more my resolve is failing and I kind of plan to play it again once Im bored of Fallout 4
Im gonna try an axe n bow playthrough
Play it on a random seed and just do whacky stuff.
ur whacky
I have devastated you with this word exchange and now you owe me 20 dollars. :V
๐ฎ
Which biome do you build your main base in?
Plains.
Last time I played, I built mine at a junction of meadow and black forest, but I also had some stuff in plains
What if the DEEP actually means deep under ground?
The Hervor Bloodtooth videos had her ending up inside something underground.
And it's one of the two things we haven't had a boss fight at yet.
Moder was airborne (well, partially anyway) and all the other bosses were on the ground.
So being under ground might be a possible location based upon that.
Queen can be considered underground to a point ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I wish their were considering making the ocean something we can explore by diving
vikings don`t dive
Ironborn Don't (blank)
Long live the Queen.
Damn, that was pretty epic. Me w/mistwalker and shield and my buddy the mage. What a fight. Damn that was fun.
Mistwalker goated weapon.
Always feels like im being unfaithful when I start a new base elsewhere. Espescially when you spend a lot of time making the old one pretty
Thats why I dont make much efforts for my first camp
Modding?
That hat makes you look like you have 1970's hair. ๐
The boat/cart trick is 100% speakable though.
just slow... ๐
What about longship?
Also speakable.
Practically free extra storage
with a bit of a risk involve
Rewarded risk!
Karve on a long ship though ๐ค
I once took 2 carts on a longship, it was so slow i will do only longship with no carts from now on ๐
Maybe one but yeah 2 fully loaded cart is gonna weigh that boi down
Can fit 2 longships on a longship if you do it right tbh.
And then like 4 carts on each of those for a total of 11 inventories ๐
U cant fill 8 carts and 3 longships in 1x survival, or it have no reason to do
Like u wont tratsport That much iron , cause at 1 place won't be that many
And for any transportable resources u can just use full inventory -> portal
No reason?
You think we went to the moon for any reason beyond "because we can like a boss"?
Plenty of reason to stack carts on longships stacked on a longship. ๐
They tried to fake the moonlanding to bankrupt the soviets. Hired hollywood to do it, but they decided to film on location for that authentic look
who starts a conversation like this
I just opened the chat
someone with no social skills trying to be funny
sure I guess
this game is hard
this land is hard and wild, but we who were brought here are harder still...
Indeed, now i await for new adventures while i construct my workshop
i just started so im still trying to mine in the black forest without getting jumped by greydwarfes
its like they smell when i need them not to show up lmao
mining and chopping are the loudest activities and they've got a radius
caw cawwww! these twisted beings fear the flame for they are made of the earth and bark cawwww
Yeah, that be greydwarfs doin
i recommend fires
Make an upgraded wood shield if you haven't already
Yeah they fear firec
ill have to do that next time i hop on
kinda been hesitant to upgrade cos i assumed wood and flint tools were gonna get replaced early on
If you ever need an extra support, i ll be glad to join you for little slaying lol
Also, while you can try to master perfect block, its even better now since last update and dont drains stamina
It ll come in usefull later in the game
Yeah, parrying is super useful for killing mobs in short time ๐
Also rolling is great if you want to play it a bit safer since it has lots of invincibility frames
i try to parry greydwarfs and still get stunned if i land it
i think dodging is a better bet till i get some better gear
you need better food then, eat some meat get somethin on them viking bones!
that's plenty, idk how greydwarfs stagger you when you parry them
Upgrading shield will also help ๐
But as said above, 2 hp foods should be enough
I remember my first fights with greydwarfs, night was death sentence, but when you have good armor suddenly it becomes menegable
Plus novadays with my armor they dont even do dammage to me, its just thud XD
am i missing somthing or are repairs free?
They are free indeed ๐
i made 3 of the elk boss pickaxes cos i thought they die when the durability dropped lmao
ive been littering axes and torches into the ocean
Nah, you dont loose stuff when it breaks ๐
The trade off for that and free repairs is that you need quite a bit of materials to make the thing in the first place and then upgrade it ๐

5 infested mines, a total of 3 sealbreakers and 0 vegvisir ๐ญ
At least they're neat
is there a way to display the sealbreaker?
Gah. anyone have any tips to getting around not having "NITRO" version of discord for posting videos? I did one that was 1:30 at 10MB and it was grainy AF unwatchable
literally i did this too when i first started XD i was amazed that i could repair things
if you have good software you can encode down sometimes without making it look too bad
but 10 mb is a harsh limit
ive been sleeping on spears. that, a shield and a full set of leather made me immortal untill a bear showed up
i just use outplayedGG anything else is too hard for my old man brain
๐กOn Xbox Series X please cause the game to execute a quick pause whenever the player controller is disconnected for any reason.
On several occasions my controller batteries died in the middle of a battle with creatures, suddenly the Xbox dashboard pops up on screen saying controller disconnected, but behind the full screen dashboard window the game is still running. Several minutes later I source freshly charged batteries and prompt the xbox dashboard message to indicate which controller I wish to use. But I find myself back at my bed with a couple minutes on the Death Run timer remaining.
If the game should pause when a controller is disconnected then that makes this a bug (see my comment about this on the Xbox-Bugs channel)
#suggestions ๐
is it a known thing that entities beyond what I assume to be ~60m don't take any damage at all?
I've drill half a stack of my needle arrows into a lox and it's not dead yet
i think they may be in a chunk that's partially loaded in but not "active" due to distance
well, I should first make sure it's "all" entites, since I only noticed this with loxes
since it's on a per-chunk basis, the distance varies depending on where on the chunk grid you are, but it should be all entities that are affected
so basically you're not allowed to snipe stuff that's too far away? Bummer
at which point I'd argue we should have no bows at all, if you need to get close enough to stuff anyway, but I digress
i mean, that seems like a very unlucky setup of chunk borders across distance.
more often than not, if you can see something in the distance, it is active and can be shot
I do believe this becomes a problem only on the max draw distance ๐ค which is really quite far away, so bows are still incredibly usefull even tho you cant shoot stuff across whole continents
i've only run into the issue of my bolts/arrows not doing anything to an enemy in the distance a few times across all my playtime
-# granted, i don't play ranged all that much
imean there's a big gap between "i can't shoot this thing i can barely see" and "i can do ranged damage"
Hey, should I start a new world for this update that happened? I wasnt paying attention
You can to experience all the new things properly, but it is not necessary ๐
Sweet thx. I just started a world before the update and barely got my base up when it dropped
Yeah then you are totally fine ๐
When you make a slightly bigger meadows house than before because you're more comfortable building... and then you realize there's not a lot of stuff at that stage to fill it with. Fireplace, bed, workbench with upgrades... a rug. Then just turn the rest into a warehouse with endless storage shelves I guess ๐
Exactly that xD
have there been any talk of ship customization?
Nope, not aware of anything
It's been suggested a few times though. Usually different kinds of sails and / or having shields at the sides of the longboats.
hello everyone kinda new to the game, not so many friends who are into it :)
Good thing it's an amazing and fun experience solo ๐๐
This is very recognizable especially with Fallen Valkyries, as if they're just a bit too far away they don't take the hit even thought the shot lands.
interesting, my game crashed for the first time and none of the items rolled back but probably an hour of terraforming got rolled back
Yeah, that usually happens honestly, world save rolls back and char save stays ๐
i had the land looking so fresh and sculptured for my next build
is finewood needed in large amounts? i had a bunch of acorns and need regular wood so i figured id plant em
still lacking 3 more fragments smh mh
i cant decide whether or not to do an oak farm or beech farm
you'll need a bunch of them for portals considering each needs 20 of them, and a total of 40 for each connection
Oak trees have a better seed drop rate
yeah i just cutlike 7 trees and got 17 seeds, so i was like, maybe ill make this a perma farm
Unless you use only one portal in base that you rename depending on where you want to go ๐
You rang?
well my pack has target portal, but i actually like making portal rooms so ill be making lots of portals anyways
Give me a minute and i might actually find a bell somewhere in house xD
yeah i used to do that a lot
You have strayed from the path, but redemption is available to all.
Then all you need is an oak farm ๐
Spawning farms ๐คข
im not sure if i can make a greydwarf farm though, creature level gonna be shoving massive 5*s in there lmao
What, in your mind, is a good/bad seed? Or if you think one shouldn't worry about that at all and just explore it blindly anyway, that's fair too ๐
depends, i like sailing so i dont care how far bosses area, especially with portals
i typically want haldor somewhat close to my spawn island, a decent amount of black forest on my spawn island, and a large swamp somewhere i can sail to
i keep the untagged portal for exploration purpose, just pop one before a dungeon to teleport back to eat/rest first lol
I have the emergency portal and the one i rename in my base ๐
i like to briefly glance at just the topology of a map on the seed viewer just so i know im not getting something completely horrible
This is the way.
honestly can't imagine playing Mistlands no map, even with map on i can get lost
If you are planning a mountain base - seed needs to have one of the 2 tallest mountains.
Otherwise there is no bad seed.
I still rock my 1st ever seed from pre Hearth update, has a giant island
i have a mountain that goes above the clouds but it looks like dog water
too tall and skinny
I think I'm mostly thinking about "clean" biomes on the starting islands and around potential trader positions. Not a fan of when the worldgen makes tiny slivers of random stuff because of overlaps and/or the meadows "star" at the start
I kept the same seed for years until a friend gave me one and I will probably only play that one from here on out.
my starter island has all biomes less Ashland. But island tip is near Ashlands
I guess also if possible I'd like it to "make sense", where biomes will show up in the correct order if exploring somewhat naturally
sell me on why should i bother building a mountain base cuz i dont see the point of having one on top of the massive pain in the ass to bring metals up there
Aura.
nothing grows up there
Also moving metals? You mean Stone Portal?
not in Ashlands yet ๐ญ
still getting lost in Mistlands
Then I cannot sell you at this time ๐
building one from scratch with all metals and such mined is really not worth it, id rather add it to my massive main City
my mountain has a sea level to cloud almost cliff edge angle on one side. imma throw my cart over the side to get to my boat
Mountain bases look awesome is all I can say.
And you just portal out to your plains and mistlands farm outposts when needed.
Worth is subjective.
i like functionality over looks
dang it...does this game have crash logs?
My mountain base functions perfectly ๐คทโโ๏ธ
i love my Plains base so much
I would love to find a seed where the starter island was small and only meadows, so you could "get established" and then need to raft off somewhere to actually start adventuring ๐
In general I wish islands were a bit more "pure" when it comes to biomes and less mixing meadows, bf, plains and swamp all in a tiny space
no its not, u cant survive there without a fire or your cloak on
plains backed up to mistlands is my favorite spot
Plains was my favorite for a very long time. It is now second.
plains is fantastic for base.
Oh no... not having to wear a cape like everyone already does at all times...
You can personally dislike mountain all you wish, but stop trying to make it out like they are objectively worse because they are not.
plus, mountain = noo port
If u have one of those low mountains near the water tthat would be cool
i got one its near sea level somehow
No crops, no port. That's what makes it objectively worse
False. But you are entitled to your opinions.
traditionally mountain castles are purely militarily and not intended for daily use.
i always try to make my bases next to the sea for easy metal transport
Once you get stone portal that is no longer a factor.
nah, u need a port. Not that kind of port, actual port
i know, but also i love having a port/dock in my base
like ragnar
real Vikings sail their longship everywhere
Please stop incorrectly telling me what I need. Thank you.
Now, if I`d go out of my Viking theme, then a mountain base would fit more so. But im in the viking mode, it needs to fit viking stuff
kek, gets upset. Ok
im on a boat
there was any announcements in Tokyo game show ?
the announcement was playstation coming to valheim in 2026 ig
im super psyched for my board game
Me too. The components look great, too.
anyone else as cool as me buy the "take my money" version of the board game?
I went "all in". Then bought more extras.
Hopefully they will have to start a channel here for the board game.
oh right!
Sadly didnt have enough funds for the all-in ๐ but went with the second best + few add-ons
As long as you can at least get the base game. Thats all that really matters.
I got the collectors edition, has the rainbow cards and stuff! Super excited for the minis, and the coin!
I know I am going to regret not getting two core sets, but I couldn't afford that at the time. Hopefully I will find one at retail.
Both normal and delux editions should be availible in retail ๐
They should. I have not seen every game I have backed at retail. I guess they don't do a big enough print run every time.
I do have one of the biggest retailers here in St Louis, especially for board games. So I should see every game.
It has already been commented on having proximity voice chat in Valheim?
It has been discussed and suggested at some point multiple times, afaik not a feature they are planning to add.
You want to play with your friends but only speak to them when their are close to you in-world?
yes
it would be cool
We have very different ways of treating our friends it seems ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I suppose in the age of vikings, the only way to talk to your friends was if you were near them in-world
what even are the chances that I killed a deathsquito right when it killed me... geez
50/50
Pretty sure thereโs a mod for this
Likely. Modders usually make a mod for every whim. ๐
Now they can just CodeGPT their whims too ๐
The prox chat things doesn't feel right for valheim but I see the appeal for immersion. DayZ and Rust can be pretty fun with friends when you're in proximity chat.
I mean, you can always chat through discord or teamspeak ๐
I'm not sure how big the multilayer servers are but like if there's big survival pvp servers or something having prox there would definitely make sense and feel a part of the world
The cap is 10 players at the same time ๐
Ah yeah
What unnecessary or suboptimal things do you do ingame because it's more immersive or feels right? ๐
Turn off portals
Also spend absurd amount of time basebuilding

Honestly no portals is great though I'd really like to see them add a cargo ship so I can reasonable transport stuff without having to do sketchy things with carts
Building actual buildings instead of speedrunner shacks.
I didn't even think of this as a thing - for me that is equal with progression as "goals of the game"
Itโs not necessary or optimal though
I go even further, I usually and doing landscaping, planting flowers and trees, ect
The speed runner shacks are for advanced bases/basecamps
Stack of wood is all you really need for those lol
Runner shacks don't even have 4 walls lol
I usually only build 4 wall joints
Who can really say what is "optimal" in a sandbox game ๐ But yes, I suppose progression is the most obvious measure for it, despite it not being the sole focus (or a focus at all) for many players
What brought the question on was that I kind of am in a mood to RP a bit. Choose what to do next from what my character would want to do (not having the knowledge about what's actually out there like I as a player do, for example). Decorate a random spot a little because I camped there one night, just so there's something to see when I stumble upon it again. Go for a swim at the end of a day because ... no reason. Just because I can ๐ Etc
Who can really say what is "optimal" in a sandbox game
Give it a couple hours, someone will show up to declare the one and only way the game should be played. ๐
There's always someone. Reminds me of a youtube video I saw the other day of "most useless things in Valheim" or similar. Some made sense - strictly worse versions of other things, or extremely wasteful uses of certain resources... but some items were put on the list because they were "purely decorative" or "no purpose at all except for building" etc. Some people in the comments had issues with those ๐
Gaming content on YT
Tower shields are pretty useless tbh
I like to rebuild certain keeps you can find in game. Then I usually leave a portal in them as my excusee for rebuilding it, and giving it at least a CL of 8.
Oh, and mountain cabins. Especially if they still have chairs and the table.
The Draugr villages in the meadows I think should go without even have to say you restore those. ๐
Give them the charge attack that we know they thought about and they become very useful.
Or higher stagger limit when blocking with them.
As someone who only uses Tower Shields...
Just blocking buffs would be pointless because they will never beat parrying.
Give them something offensive and we're talking.
Being able to bullrush with a massive shield and knock things aside would fit tower shields and be an amazing "you can't parry, but you can attack" tradeoff.
i reuse them as well. Good place to make an Outpost, many ways to fix up
The nock back with tower shields is rather crazy. Often irritating, because it makes it harder to kill what you want to kill, but when your taking on 6 to 10 fulings, its awesome.
Make it so that you can attack while hiding behind them (weaker attack perhaps) if you feel that it makes sense for you, stamina/stagger wise. A real tank style, hunker behind a huge shield and reach around it with a spear or something
I stick by my opinion ๐คทโโ๏ธ
#memes-and-clips message
this is what we couldโve got from call to arms for tower shields
(this is an unused system that wouldโve made tower shields stagger nearby enemies after blocking 3-5 times)
I'm fine with them being a less efficient but slightly easier playstyle ๐ Gives people a choice where both choices can make sense depending on personal preference and ability
Ngl that would have been cool addition.
That would be too powerful. I'm fine with how they are, especially now that we are not so slow. Like I inferred before, that knockback makes lots of enemies easier to take down.
just give all weaps a quick attack from behind tower shield with a smaller opening time, no combo, no bonus
Like I walk into fuling villages to take them out, fulings, beserkers and shamans, That shield blocks pretty much everything, even fireballs. So as long as you can block most of it, or at least the worst blows...
why do some of the tames on world have names? I didn't name them and my friends say they didn't name them.
Someone did. Unless you use mods that do it.
someone to play with ?
No idea why they would deny it, but some people find strange things to be humorous.
I keep dieing and it's making me feel bad
Yeah, dying sucks. Until you learn to block, parry, or dodge roll, or some combo there of. Then you die a lot less.
What are you dying to? People here might have good tips for specific things
Plus eating HP foods is important to all of that as well.
Eating food? Nah. ๐
I downloaded Valheim yesterday and got addicted.. already got 8 hours on it..
CAN'T.
STOP.
GRINDING...
Lol, image perms.
Is 1.0 releasing together with the Playstation port?
Because in all posts surrounding the Playstation port, there is a teaser related to Deep North...
No one knows.
Newbie here, is there a way to repair broken items?
at your workbench.
Bench you made them at.
dayum thx
Hey, does anyone know whether or not the Growths respawn at tar pits after draining it and collecting the tar balls from inside?
yes, the growths respawn.
You need to either use workbenches to deny spawns or commands to directly delete the spawners to stop it.
They only respawn 1. So kind of worth it to leave them respawning if you pass by the pit regularly.
drop a fire center ish and its neutralized
Yep, but if your going to dig it out right away, and never come back, there is no need. It takes a couple of game days for them to respawn. So unless its near to something you will be at regularly...
I would like to keep on collecting tar every couple of days. Respawn is what I'm looking for.
then you already had all the news we have
am I missing some kind of trick/strategy, or is finewood just really hard to farm in general, even if you're in the plains already?
Are you tree farming at all?
There is usually plenty of trees in the plains. At least in clusters of them.
Farming helps too, but I have been having lousy luck getting seeds from those.
I'm referring to seeds in particular: even if I go around mowing down entire forests in the plains I always run out of seeds
Hmmm... maybe its not just me and lousy RNG.
oak trees don't seem to be much different either
Of what little I have "farmed" of those, I have gotten more seeds than I have cut down.
guess I'll keep trying...
In the past I have usually gotten close to "replacement" numbers, but not in recent weeks.
I usually plant about 60 trees, that will condense down to about 120-140 trees after replants, depending on drop luck. That is almost 2500 finewood on average, which is usually plenty.
Not plenty
Need more for mega builds
Plenty for 1 harvest rather.
Once you have 25+ seeds I start planting the birches, then every now and then cut down wild ones to get more seeds if they 25 previous trees disappointed me with seed drops, especially with plains you'll be able to easily get quite a few seeds to have a reasonable supply, but yeah tree planting birches is essential if you want a good supply
So trres are technically both inf and finite
you need an Oak forest
They're annoying to cut in the early game
It's interesting how some people need Finewood for mega builds.
My limiting factor has always been Black Marble ๐
due to such high hp both its log form and tree form
Natural black marble pillars when?!๐ค
true, better for later. So start early planting
Golems made out of black marble would also do the trick.
Hmm kinda of like guards for dvergr settlements
since dvergrs have magic
Been wanting that for a long time
Its a bad idea to have them guard your garden. Bastards burn everything down. Ask me how I know...
You see chat, burning things down is why we don't equip our guards with fire weapons.
Yep. Starred mages too.
oak should be self sustaining but the RNG can be brutal
We only had a walled garden there. We haven't beat Yag yet, so just growing stuff early, getting the Jump mead made, etc...
Honestly having them patrol your base is nice, not only guards but backup that can help deal with more fiesty enemies like starred seekers
Just be ready to have them demolish your build from time to time
I would honestly keep them
For me atleast idk if you would like having them demolish your stuff lol
Just be careful to not hit them
And if they have 1 if not 2 healer mages that is hoenstly busted
Actually no a dvergr settlement of just healers mages is busted
They have elemental dmg and healing capability
so more survivability
Not to mention they can heal you
youtube trying keep me thrown off. first i was playing one game, and then i kept getting valheim videos so here i am. now im getting spammed with stardew valley videos
Gaming content on YT
Hey sorry yall, but do wards not work?
Me and a buddy tried to place down a ward but when we do that and try to interact with chests, they still open even when active.
Anyone assigned to the wards can do that.
In my last playthrough I encountered a starred mage
and was almost unable to deal damage fast enough to kill it lol
Basically if you own the ward, you're the only one who can interact with the things you built under the wards area, doors, chests, etc
and any player who tries to interact say a chest under the your wards effect, they will not be able to access it
players also cannot build in the area of that ward
Wait you guys play with other people?
what are friends
Friends are people who play other games but we still keep in touch ๐
Honestly would love to play/start a server with some folks here, but I just donโt have the time
And sometimes time zones donโt line up!
Ain't nobody got time for dat
that's the hard part, finding a time where everyone can be on
Scales run server where everyone is naked and starving? ๐
naked and afraid reference!?

No food no armor challenge run reference.
Man why are bears so boulder shaped
I almost lost my mind earlier looking for bear trophies
i got two Dvergr Trophies after I accidentally led a 1-star Soldier to their camp I feel so guilty ๐ญ
Have you tried battleaxe? 2 swings were enough to stagger starred mage. #memes-and-clips message
Blackmetal max quality?
or the mistlands one
It can work too until you have Skull Splittur.
Sweet, its hard to deal with dvergrs with sheer brute force so stunning is a welcome addition
In that clip I used primary attacks since it has no MTP and it instantly staggered non star ones.
Mostly range you gotta work with
Yeah I've used battleaxes quite a bit but at the time didn't have any and was still using frostner, and I was on a big open sloped area so every hit pushed them away and I'd use all my stamina to get to them lol
was frustrating to say the least
Taking out mages first, then rogues. Root Harnesk helps a lot against attacks of rogues.
Hmm Padded Helm + Root + Padded Greaves
The fire mages are a big deal since anything above mountains progression is a immediate threat when fire comes into play
I'm a big deal ๐
Ice mages first, they are busted. Against fire mages you have fire barley wine, support mages can heal and summon those homing balls.
Or just lob fireballs till they die
will actually no
talking into you're going into the mistlands for the first time
bow is not sufficent because support mages they heal a ton
Or vile leggings for no movement speed penalty and better armor than fenris.
I would probably just attract a bunch of seekers and probably a seeker soldier aswell
so I can deal with the dvergrs
That has been the solid strat since the beginning.
Its not impossible to deal with dvergrs early on with plains gear but definitely harder than just attracting some seekers or just getting the staff of embers
Why are we killing dverger?
Just use a cart to break it without aggroing.
Oh that's simple ๐
cart the ward to death
If the dvergr base is in a good location near roots, I raid it and take it for myself
F5
forcedelete dvergerguard_stone (if memory serves)
And then you can build while they protect it ๐
If there are healing mages Id honestly keep them
if not 2 healing mages is better
Usually lasts until a 2 star gjall shows up and nukes them all ๐
When gjall spawns I just harpoon it for easy kill
so I can lure it away while the dvergrs blast away
The tall dvergr settlement is a really good base
its a 2 story iirc
I need to either get a new mouse or rebind deconstruct from middle mouse. It double clicks about half the time and destroys the piece behind the one I'm looking at
trigger fingers :))
clicking middle mouse hurts
Or maybe it rolls a bit when I click it. Either way I can't seem to get it to do it consistently
Really? Even more reason to rebind it than I have then
from my experience, having to really put down your finger so that it clicks instead of rolls
starts to really hurt if done in rapid succession
There's like a middle area where I can just hold it and it rapidly clicks ^^ Tried it now with scrolling in discord. Probably worn it out over the years tbh
Ah so a extra little button
Hysteresis gone wrong due to mechanical wear I think
After doing that in first few deathless runs during last year it got boring, where is the fun in that.
but it gets lonely without dverger ๐
Someone in #1024264966712340510 for sure ๐
We're here (in Valheim) to do a job and get out.
Literally just passing through.
Dverger will still be around after we leave.
Though they have shrunken in number so probability of them going extinct likely
And to be fair, they've outlasted everyone before us. So they probably aren't interested in making friends as much as seeing either how long we last or how fast we get the job done.
Nah, they just need to dig more holes.
-# Because there are no dwarf women, and they just spring out of holes in the ground. ๐๐
LotR reference there ๐
We have female dvergrs
they're only crossbowers tho
I havent encountered a female mage dvergr
Well they got here around few hundred years before vikings started getting sent here. So not as much outlasted but more came after (at least for the stuff like giants which were reeeeeealy long time ago) ๐
How did they arrive hundreds of years before but also came after? ๐ค
You said "everyone before us" i meant that, not that they outlasted us ๐
Them being here before is the crux of "outlasted" given they've been living in the realm longer than any viking has. They have seen them all come and either perish or leave, yet they have endured.
So I think they see us more as a curiosity of "oh, another one, let's see what happens" rather than a "let's make friends and live at their base."
But it is almost 4 a.m. so time to nap.
Oh i agree with that ๐
I was just more arguing the semantics that they didn't really "outlast" everyone before us but "came after" many beings that were there before us ๐
Outlasted all previous vikings. Not all previous beings ๐
Now let me nap ๐ญ
๐
Goodnight!
Night night!
Sleep soundly
Pretty certain when they have talked to me that they said they remember the giants being alive. Not sure how that fits into the over all lore, though.
Also, the dvergr keep respawning outside of their towers. So presumably they come from somewhere we do not know about.
Hmm, don't remember any dialog mentionig that ๐ค will have to look it up
I do. Its usually a mage when I am in their towers.
Found it "I remember yet, the giants of yore..." ๐ค
Yeah, kind of mind blowing that they would be that old.
I imagine that makes them immortal until killed.
Well it clashes with what Grimmcore said #valheim-public-test message <-public test channel
Since few hundred years would not be enough for the bones to petrify. And i wouldnt say it was much longer time than ~500, maybe up to 1000 years since Vikings started appearing in Valheim because we are still finding wooden settlements which are fairly intact
Has there been a change to surtling spawners generation I just found one that was shaped in a mound while usually Iโve always found them half sunken
Like a very unnaturally round mound slightly taller than the player
Always could happen ๐
those mounds are a bit uncommon, but they do happen here and there in the swamp
you probably just got (un)lucky and the spawner was placed on top of one of those
Itโs a shame the fire doesnโt drop to the ground with those, Iโve automated it and it looks bugged lol
they have little hidden fallout shelters. Some were over taken by bugs as you know
Long time since I posted but hey good morning....gotta say I been watching development and Im excited for the content!
Tell me more about this witch magic!
Make a cart outside ward area, drag it to the ward, hit the ward with the cart by pushing it to it until broken, if cart breaks then rebuild it.
Or kite in a gjall to blow everything up for you.
Gods below, it is nervous business building tall without the feather cape. Still haven't fallen to my death - had a few scares but managed to keep foods topped up so far.. #building-screenshots message
Ahh ok, thanks. I usually just blow everything up with staff of embers ๐
Yeah, but in the beginning of Mistlands you don't possess such item yet.
I usually just blow everything up with gjalls ๐
gjall farm when ๐ค
Gjall milk? ๐ค
i`d imagine itts similar to what Skywalker was milking out of those alien seals in star wars
can't be bothered to builda new base hauling ingots too much work
whats everything that we know is coming in 1.0? pls spoilers incase someone wants to go blind I just cant find a proper collection of all info
Because there isn't any. We only know we might finally see it some time next year.
Its not like IG is known for telling us what we will be getting before we are even close to getting it.
Look at the last update, they didn't tell us anything until it was released to the public. We only got info from leakers.
you've seen everything they've released?it's not a tiny amount, there's enemies, building pieces, armor, and a weapon
Anything that is revealed in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816
ye just if theres a collected thing. also ive got it already so no worries
everything that you already should know
Just a quick question: Is it too dangerous to cross the Mistlands in silver gear?
do what you gotta do. if you have the best health food you can you won't get 1-shot unless there's a 2 star thiing
depends on how much time you've spent there. I use fenris set until I get to Ashlands now.
do you have an unfortunate dragon boss spawn?
Yes
it happens to me sometimes, just have max hp food and try to not make too much noise
if you go very slow you can hear bugs nearby try to avoid
or you can pop eikthyr and spring as fast as you can XD
but i'd drop a portal before you attempt and maybe bring one with so you don't have to cross a 2nd time
i had a forced mist crossing in a no map run lol... following my little building piece to know where iw as even going
Dangerous? Yes. Doable? Yes. Its also a great time to make use of the running mead, if you have the recipe. The hardest part is the lack of visibility.
Yeah the lack of visibility scares me
Everything can be outrun in all biomes if you never look back.
Yeah, having done that, many times, there are plenty of things to hold you up or stop you. Not being able to see what that is in the Mistlands is what gets you killed.
Then to do a death run to the same location while blind? Yeah, I'd find a different Moder location first.
I wouldn't without Lightfoot mead. Mistlands is quite hill-ey and you'd do well to pack some lingering stamina and health mead too in case you break your ankles a few too many times. Just don't stop for anything and keep your ears out - most of the enemies can be heard well before they're seen. The biggest threat will be navigating the terrain honestly, may Eikthyr smile upon you!
Need a shining wisp hat like anglerfish
If only we had some tools to make stealth a bit more viable, Ashlands would be so cool to go all sneaky in - just the classic ol' FarCry throwing rock would be neat
One does not simply sneak in Ashlands
I use my troll armor in Ashlands often enough, it's actually quite effective with decent sneak skills
i actually sneak in mistlands quite a bit, super useful for finding things if you just take your time and listen. ticks = bones/skull, seekers might = dungeon, burbablurbaburbablurb = nope
Yeah, I have my Sneak in the 50's this time, without any boosts. So I plan on making a lot more use of it in the Mistlands. Not sure what it would help with in the Ashlands, but I'll think on that for a while.
Gahh I meant to say sneaking around in Mistlands would be dope* Ashland's would be like...cute idea, send pics if it all works out
I'm trying to envision sneaking in the mistlands but I feel like I have to jump every two seconds there
Sneaking in Mistlands is mainly about not using wisps at all, since the light that helps you see acts as a beacon attracting enemies to you.
I didn't think enemies are actually programmed to be drawn to light, only noise.. although if that's the case, you should be able to use arrows or spears to lure enemies to an area
๐คทโโ๏ธ maybe hidden noise in the wisp. But I know it draws seekers too you from further away than if you don't have it on.
my sneaking is 4 ๐
Taming animals is the best/easiest way to train sneak.
yeah that's how i got it from 2 to 4, when i tamed my first 2 lox ๐ซก
2 to 4 is like... sneaking up on a single deer in the first minutes of the game ๐
Gjall sneaks on you
I got it from 10 to like 25 when taming a boar
lots of weapons have a dim light that draws beasts of the wild
u are never gonna see valkyries again sneaking around!
Oh I finally genned a world that has a forest in the middle of snow biome
they only look for the greatest warriors!
Dang and two maypoles
Massive spawn island but no traders on it
Ah but all three traders are on the island just south and they are walking distance from each other. Imma have to save this one
Nice! What's the seed?
FC3FYrdpPc
Gonna have to check out the mountain forest when I get home. That could be a cool build
They find me just fine without the wisp, as I find out every time I go into the Mistlands early to get the puffs, caps, and wood. Even before I start making any noise. Like enough soldiers and seekers have found me already, that I have a trophy for each in this play through. Not that its hard to get seeker trophies.
Put that in the #1202740443352137838 channel.
there is an island swamp with like 30 iron mines
man, why can't I use the blast furnace for copper, tin and iron?
Yeah the one issue with creature level mod. Entering mistlands for the first time and meeting a 5* fire enhanced bug immediately
Because the devs said so.
yeah...
Yeah, thats how I get most of my sneak skill, while taming boar, wolves and Lox. Didn't tame lox this time.
There's also the potential angle of how irl different metals need different temps and the Blast Furnace being hotter than normal would make it burn out the iron or melt the copper/tin ๐คทโโ๏ธ
You actually smelt metals at different temps. So the blast furnace are hotter temps than tin, copper, bronze and iron can handle. Look up real life metal smelting. There is a lot of facts behind it.
metals use different types of furnaces to melt and mix.
Yeah, I find the info about alloys particularly interesting.
Deep North aluminium ๐
My bets are on gold ๐
Same!
aluminium kinda weak for endgame metal
Maybe steel
-# Heh, i knew we talked about gold in DN somewhere before xD #valheim-public-test message
Wouldnt think so ๐ค that would come in swamp, since we use iron and coal anyway
My bet is on tungsten ๐
Good luck shaping that to anything usable xD
-# Tho you are magic viking, so you might be able to ๐
Afaik vikings didn't really mine gold (but acquired it through trade and raiding) however there are records they made steel
tbh I hope they don't go for a real life metal and just make up something
Building material possibilities though.
Whitemetal. But make it blue in-game to match how Blackmetal is green ๐
Yes ๐ but i was more coming from the angle that steel is simply carbon iron alloy, so if we would get it it would be in swamp when we use coal (source of carbon) to melt iron, which would impart some of the carbon into it making it steel. ๐
yeah, it's not like there isn't magic already in the game
or you know like all other fantasy stuff
haha
lmao
Oh right! How could I forget
Hi guys, how are you? I just killed the 5th boss, Yagluth, now I'm getting ready to go to the 6th boss, which is the queen, am I right?
Congrats on your Victory over Yag! Yes the Queen is your next target ๐
Yep, The Queen is the 6th boss ๐
Could you give me tips on how to kill her? I'm playing with my friend, we want to know her weak points
She is not weak to any type of dmg, but when using melee weapons avoid the ones that do pierce dmg since she is resistant to it ๐
Also, magic is a good choice for her.
resistant to all types of damage? I'm really screwed lol
No, she is only resistant to pierce ๐
Other dmg (except spirit) she is neutral to
Magic or weapons that do frost damage is a good choice and also my best advice keep moving! Use feather cloaks to jump down and away safely if she corners you on the stairs or levels. She spawns lots of adds so prepare for a long fight with meads food etc.
Best tip:
Make her health drop to zero before yours does.
Frost is not any better at damaging her than other types except pierce and spirit tho ๐
Yes ๐ I like it for slowing her and the adds down so you can manoeuvre and get more hits in.
lmao, thanks a lot for the tips guys, I'm going to get ready and go after her, send her straight to helheim
Give her hell, friend!
I'm from Brazil, my English isn't very good yet, so sorry if I write something wrong.
Your English is 1000% better than my Portuguese, you're perfectly understandable ๐
haha thanks, if you need help learning Portuguese you can add me, I would be happy if you taught me English too
The joke is that I'm terrible at any other languages, so no thank you at the moment, but I appreciate the offer!
any tips to find sea serpent easily?
You have best chance at finding them going at sea in night while storm is going on ๐
is there a better % of it spawning if i use a raft instead of the bigger ships
Or literally any time you're doing a naked run to pick up a far away body if my luck is anything to go by ๐คฃ
because at my first spawn i crafter a raft and went to across the small lake in my island which happened to be a ocean biome, that thing spawned out of nowhere in the middle of the day withotu any storm
exactly bruh
Nah ๐ they can spawn at night and in storm, so if you combine the two your chances are better ๐
There are some day time spawns, but they are rarer, if you know where abouts that one you found with your raft was you could go back and see if it's there again.
Otherwise the only thing the ships effect is how many serpent nibbles it takes to sink them and how fast you can get out of its way
The only day time spawns can happen in storm ๐ but if you dont notice them they will linger around, night spawns will despawn at dawn
Ah, interesting! I noticed they lingered (good for petting zoos) didn't realise it was still storm spawn though! I learned a thing, neat!
Wow Valheim RNG. Found my first ice cave on my starter island, with a vegvisir and Tetra both!
Dang 500 hours in and I'm still getting pwned by stone golems ๐ฟ
Is there a limit to the number of day storm serpents in an area
same. My first 3 deaths have been from being yeeted off a mountain.
the chance is one per chunk.
Pickaxe rodeo is a more fun way to be yeeted down the mountain (and if you get it right does take them down easier)
Iirc the limit is 1 per zone/chunk ๐ค will try to check and confirm tho.
-# Btw thats for spawning, if you drag them together you can have as many as you want provided you make them stay
(pickaxe rodeo for context is jumping on their head and swinging a pickaxe)
The one time i found a two star wolf, i was dodging all of his attacks while trying to get him into a hole just for a stone golem to 1 shot me and then kill the wolf :c
Is it only ocean storms or land biome seas also work
Yep the spawn limit is 1 per full ocean zone
And the timer till next spawn is possible is 16 minutes 40 seconds
Ocean
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Spawn_zones#List_of_spawners
Here you can find most of the stuff ๐
If one spawn in an ocean chunk and I drag it into a meadow lake can another spawn in that ocean
Yep, once its out of the chunk then next time there is a spawn attempt new one should spawn ๐
I can make a serpent fishery with some effort! ๐
100%. Noodle petting zoo โค๏ธ
And a cultist trophy first shot!
I doubt it.
It's a very small chance a serpent will spawn at that exact chunk in the very next storm that rages there.
Yeah, 5% chance on spawning
5% chance every 16 minutes 40 seconds if the serpent is not already there
Seems like it goes to a 100% when the boat is full of iron though ๐ฑ
You got storm serpents and night serpents.
The ones that spawn during the night, will despawn during the day.
The ones that spawn during a storm will remain there, but you also need to have been at that same chunk for them to do that.
Well, sonsider how many of the 64x64 zones you sail through on a normal iron haul ๐
Ah so there's only like 2 chances per day even with constant storm
In one zone*
That is quite important ๐ you can sail around visiting many zones
it needs to rain at night, storm or not. Just be wet
Rain or night, doesn't have to be both.
Yeah, just raining is enough for serpents.
You can get them during the day in a storm or at night in any weather.
Just rain during the day as well.
-# I like that we repeated that for like 4th time now xD
Pretty sure a lot of people never scroll up.
forums were better for that
Yeah, I wish forums would become popular again.
RAIN
Well i am not mad ๐ maybe after many years people will actually remember now that there are no day spawns without storms/rain xD
Yep. My biggest complaint still remains, though.
Oh, you're actually Arwen, Puncher of Aragon?
-# Man usually i get LotR references pretty easily, this one evades be tho ๐
Given your comment gives me the feeling of "There's always hope."......
Every time I look at Rocky sitting on my end table at night ... I feel like I'm always gonna make it through the night no matter what ><
Uruk army spawn chance increases with rain ๐
im so jealous. i found rocky ONCE and it was immediately before a hardcore death
Yikes!
there's no trick to finding him is there? i was randomly holding down E gathering as i was running through a BF one time and it just happened, he was totally underneath a bush
u actually noticed he looked different or randomly picked him up?
I was intentionaly looking for slopes where rocks spawn and found a small slope with a tree and a troll but soon as I got close it said rock on it and i grabbed it and ran
I looked for days in the meadows on slopes and even in the mountains
So far I have always found Rocky due to randomly picking up rocks to build or repair something.
Nice
Well, that means I often don't find him until I am at the Plains stage. I think once I was even already in Mistlands. IE my first time finding him.
I'm really excited to run a new seed with my buddy. Valheim is such fun
Yeah, my wife and I play it together a lot. She is approaching 2,000 hours now.
Well, I am retired, so have played all day and night at times. She still works full time.
Plains. I still love wiping out fuling villages.
The variety of ways helps keep it fun. Pull in growths, get an abomination or troll, or best of all, get hunted while attacking a village. Still, I usually just walk in and start killing them.
The craziness that doing that can cause helps keep it fresh as well.
I really really liked the concept of the lone black tower in the plains
very nice touch and my friends and I enjoyed that experience quite well as I remember hehe
That sealed tower you do for Hildir is a lot of fun.
I still have his head above my front gate
man o man that mage melted face though haha yes that was a good one
Well looks like my buddy is straight whiped out from work and I will be waiting to progress in his game....dang
Heh, my wife usually gets off work angry, so wants to kill things. So perfect for Valheim.
lol
hi! got a question! if i personally tame a lox, can my friends ride it as well in multiplayer?
As long as you have the saddle, yes.
Tame vs. Wild is a universal tag. It is not player-specific.
I was riding two lox at the same time earlier today. It was because I was fighting them, though. I got on top of one, then it got on top of its buddy. That was fun.
Wife is ready to kill stuff, so later.
This means so many different things depending on context ๐
Wife Argo the worst
What your guyโs favorite Biome!?
Mountain or Plains.
Why?
No no. You didn't say we had to explain. You just asked what the favorites were ๐
โฆ
Youโre right.
Black Forest, no doubt
Mistlands
I love the Plains but I have yet to see the Ashlands. If Mistlands werenโt so craggy it might be a contender
Oh my, you just reminded me of one of my Viking tales.
This game still doesnt like me, been slowly getting into plains, just got full set of armor and ategir. 2 normal fullings fighting a tar blob, fighting a lox, fighting a squito, and they all attack me instead....
i wanna say mistlands just to light the fire
although i do think i appreciate mistlands more than most
Mistland's is 3rd for me.
if someone ran into your super epic turf war over pride wouldnt you all attack them too?
POGGGGGGGG when you +1 ding a seafarer's feast
I actually hate +1's when crafting food because I want them in specific, matching amounts ๐ญ
Yes, if I am making 10 of each and one of them pings to 11....
you make 10 feasts in one go? you're a monster
I was playing with two of my brothers, and I was the โbadโ one in the group. We sail to a little piece of land, being chased by a Serpent, my brother had the bright idea of bringing it to land. What we didnโt know was there was the tiniest piece of mist lands attached to the plain we sailed to, we were NOT ready lol. My brother jumps in the water WITH the serpent, I get confused and jumped with him (wasnโt the plan) and immediately yell โIโm drowning!โ lol. My other brother was low key carrying, he was building and naming the portal back home while being chased by two loxโs. We somehow got the boat back up and our plan was to just get off shore. BRO. I kid you not, they put ME on sailor, for SOME REASON. I get on the wheel and the boat starts moving backwards, I really didnโt know what was happening, I accidentally backed into the Mistlands and the loud music started playing and I got SO SCARED, my brothers yelling at me, โWHATโRE YOU DOING.โ
โI DONโT KNOW.โ Lolol, we ended up getting away because of the carry lol, sorry for the long but interesting Viking tale!
๐
this is valhiem
Reminds me of moments when people throw it in reverse by accident and drive right into something.
Lol, also the reaction when one of the Mistlands creatures flys out of the mist, my two brothers were fighting for their life while was terrified backing UP INTO THE MISTLANDS lol.
teacher says, every time someone screams "what are you doing" when accompanied by "what the hell is that", an angel gets its wings
Thereโs a reverse mode!? ๐ญ
The oar speeds have > forward and < backward
lol you should have screamed "SOMETHING'S GOT THE BOAT!"
OH LOL, that wouldโve been perfect.
I actually thought there was a mechanism where the enemyโs break the boat without destroying it.
that's amazing.
i'd pay like... 80 bucks if somehow IG could wipe my memory of this game completely and i could play it fresh with a few friends
All the vocalizations of the Viking โOOOOHHHHHโ as it says Mistlands, bro. My headphones were NOT on low volume.
$80? Go to a department store, get 2 extension cords and some tin foil.
Make a bandana very tightly around your head. Put a fork through it on each of your temples. Take the extension cords and put them in separate outlets then touch the ends of them to either fork at the same time.
Boom, memory wiped.
We didn't start the fire....
mistland great just because of the gjall alone. Fantastic mob idea
any tips for smooth approaches to floors? I keep having a slight gap that my character doesn't step over neatly from flat earth to wood flooring
Oh is that the jellyfish looking thing? I love the audio.
Reminds me of Subnautica.
Stairs?
i did zero spoilers mistlands. when the first what-the-f is that sunk below the fog enough to see tentacles and the death tuba noises happened pants were brown
jellyfish? Not my 1st thought but ok
don't they make your character sort of hop up?
Hey bro what you and your fam do in your free time is up to you... ๐
Those are ladders.
the tuba is horn calling ragnarok.
I don't have access to ladders I don't think
I still havent been to mists..
stairs worked though, they are mostly underground but hey
they aint going anywhere
do not go into the tuba music
Reminds me of family guy
when the tuba blows, it starts
I am in the 'where to build my base' process, my shanty shack house with small extensions is not cutting it. was going to do plains for all the farming in 1 place but it isnt as appealing as a mountain castle, but i like the idea of lox as guard dogs lol
I'm not far in but it feels reasonable to make several smaller bases and maybe one more consistent central one?
flip a coin? everyones different
If your on vanilla settings and dont change the abillity to teleport everything then central base makes more sense because you dont want to me moving different metals here there and everywhere
also it uses more resources having multiple of the same thing (places to cook, places to smelt, etc)
what radius are creatures loaded in? interested in taming
62m
ok, so about 3 workbench ranges stacked, thank you
Rest of the world: 62m
America: 3 workbench ranges
๐
America, people who have put boots on the moon. the world....
you'd be surprised at how effective measuring things in football fields is
relational distance measuring is a thing ... here hold my beer let me show you
Which is weird given that a football field is literally 120yd, but everyone uses it to mean 100yd ๐
how far is a meter in game? how tall is the player character?
Player is probably 1.8-1.9 given they fit through the 2m door.
Xerxes is what i wanna be tall as
can just anyone join the voice channels ?
FFS how far do mobs chase you i have run through 2 biomes and this lox that was almost tame (as the other one tamed moments before this one chased me) and he wont stop
Basically until they lose sight of you
its night cold and raining...
Lox has mega vision
meaning it will kill me before escape lol im cheeky went to another map
well that saved me from dieing but he didnt go back to where he was so now i gotta finish taming him there and hope the brute doesnt kill him after, also without a harpoon (havent found a serpent yet) is a saddle the only way to movelox
do you recover all materials from things like smelters? bit scared of deconstructing things with high value items
oh my god I just got griefed by a raid, these greylings destroyed all my seed carrots ๐

@odd helm thanks for using Klossen to knock some sense in a specific user. Seeing the user is stating nonsense.
(Edited as it would refrer to Scales otherwise, which wasn't my intention.)
Spamming that nonsens in multiple channels, I'm afraid.
wowza
if i wasn't sure the person is 12 years old max it would be disturbing
not that young gamers who play valheim aren't awesome.
awh i missed it :>
How that even got past automod baffles me
Gonna have to look at that
thanks for the ping @pliant hatch
You're welcome.
Now, what did you use? Klossen, atgeir, frost staf?
(unrelated but i finally remembered to change the battle brother's name on my spreadsheet)
-# (i prefer the old name but whatever)
Does someone know or have a thread for Xbox console commands?
Ooohhhhh, you're a Saccara priestess!
Next we see is you yelling: "Burn in the fire of Damnation!"
(Sacred: Underworld reference for those who haven't played that game.)
-# do we even know what twig stands for
-# i don't
Anyone have any recommendations on base building resources? Ive played through all the way through ashlands once and I am playing vanilla with some world modifiers. At the plains now. I want to make a base that can expand for end game. Any recommendations for base building tip resources?
I usually put all my crafting stations and one portal (to a hub) in my basement, have food production and a living area at the ground floor, bedroom and some entertainment at the first floor and an armory at the second floor.
I'm still trying to figure out which materials to use, but basement, ground floor and first floor walls are made of stone. Second floor and the one tile roof will most likely being done from Grausten and the rest of the roof will be done from the tarred shingles.
For the Eitr refinery I build an independent building wich is connected by a bridge; both from Black Marble. Although I'm doing that building in stone first, so I can put the windmill on top.
Another option is to keep a smaller house and put the various crafting stations in separate buildings to give the impression of being a small village.
That is really good build philosophy. Last time I played, I had the small village type build. Main house with bed and rest multipliers. Then, I had a separate rectangular storage building that was surrounded in the cardinal directions by crafting stations and ordinal directions by things like charcoal kiln and furnace.
Each little area had its own feel. The problem was I did not surround it with defenses. I need to work on that this time, too.
Ive watched videos of people doing the big building with everything stuffed in there and it looks really cool but I have no idea how to go about getting it all in. Plus, I am on the coast, so I dont think that I can dig underground to make a "basement"
Do animals baby gestation conitune when not loaded? got 2 lox tamed but i dont want to just afk my life away
They grow when your not around.
However, you need to stay until born.
Even though I have had pups pop out upon my returning, so...
yes gestation is growth in the womb so the first part doesnt matter
OMG the screen bob on the lox.. going hurl
๐
So i guess i need to make my base in the plains unless i can magic poof teleport lox to my main base, I need the food.
can you carve a channel into an island? like the panama canal
Depends on how far above sea level i think the water table is 'level'
there is a limit to how far down you can dig at any point I think... for example digging down on a mountain wont let you dig down to sea levle
so you have to be close enough to sea level or you cant dig down far enough
coast line eddies and mini islands are where i would make mine
People have taken them back to base on the longboats, but its a challenge, since you do not want them to aggro on your boat, in the middle of the ocean.
Or anywhere too far from shore.
You have a spreadsheet with people's names on it?
I am scurrrred.
Your also limited by the water itself. You can only dig so deep into water before your made to swim. But its doable, I've done it, a guy I used to play with did it.
the names of people from whom i may receive fresh cat photos muahaha
๐
My wife and I beat Yag tonight. Neither of us have died yet. We didn't intend this to be a zero death attempt, but we'll see how long we go until we start dying. Maybe we will make it into the Ashlands.
Very nice. Iโm planning to beat yag tonight or tomorrow
He seems pretty easy from the videos Iโve watched
Easier than moder but weโll see
Easier if you do the tailbone cheese. Slightly harder if you don't.
yes i've done it before on a smaller scale, preferably look for the narrowest part of the land and dig following the cardinal direction (east-west or north-south) so you'd get a neat looking wall
i usually just space out like 8-metres wide (4x2m wood plank) as a guide for the width, and as for the depth, its more a pain in the ass to do tho
2m deep is enough for the Longship i think, idk about the Drakkar
I used the silver sword, my wife used Frostner, I tanked him, she flanked him. It was the easiest fight I've ever had with him.
do piggys path towards anything in particular? trying to make a slide for piggies from a pen, hoping I didn't need to start by building the pen at a higher elevator first
A slide?
to get them out of the 5 boar per 10m limit
Oh... you're making one of those cruelty infinite spawn boxes ๐
Im so scared to fight the elder
Not because its a hard boss
but because the after effect it comes after defeating the elder
OH BOI
You are Safe if you didn't kill any of the big blue friends ๐
A 1 star bjorn
After effect like unlocking spice for first feasts and other cool stuff?
Has anyone encountered a 1 star bjorn yet?
First bear in new world was 1 star.
check
I am so tempted to try and kill it
but I know I will lose
Alrighty time to fight the elder
Even have encountered 2 star. #screenshots message
you got this
That boi bout to hit like a damn truck
elder on very hard combat
what could go wrong
At that point I had plains tier equipment, so not so bad.
Mhm
BAD TIMING ON THE DODDGE LMAO
it just straight up one tapped me
Bears are going to make the black forest hell whenever I start a new playthrough
Theyโre easy now but man werenโt trolls enough in the beginning?
I feel like I see bears way more than trolls
any tips on what could be holding a copper deposit together after mining out its connection to the side and the bottom? its one of those deposits where I think its partially sunk under the lower terrain limit
there is still some dirt up top maybe? not connected to ground though
Maybe if you mine it after its floating
thats what I've been doing, its just.. floating. I read that there can be small connections but I feel like I've gone pretty far?
Iโm new can anyone lmk how to make plains food
Preperation tahle and oven needed for some ๐
Prob a terrain thing. The game might not know what to do if itโs in the ground? Idk
Iโve never mined copper like that
Then again ||silver|| doesnโt have that issue
Start mining from the pieces closest to ground and walls ๐
I have stopped digging out entire copper nodes, there's so much copper everywhere that I mine what is out in the open and perhaps a couple of meters down, then I move on. Turns out it is much more effective - and doesn't leave behind these huge holes in the ground...
I also bring the cultivator and sow grass before I leave a site, to make them less of an eye sore. Even where I am pretty sure I won't ever return. There's probably a name for that... When I have enough stone I think I'll go back and refill tar excavations too, they're about the ugliest sores I have left behind in my worlds...
Acquire fishing rod... catch raw fish in meadows.. Acquire barley... build a windmill (in the plains).. Use the fish and barley flour to make fish wraps
Lox pie is a bit more straight forward
Aye, kill lox, pick cloudberries, make pie!
for stamina I started out with cloud berries
Not to be confused with should or would berries.
Bread is good stamina food, feels like a waste of flour but once you have a big enough field of barley you'll never run out
Stacks to 20 too which is always a plus when exploring a no-portals world
Very true I didn't think much bout that
Should berries or would berries?
Yes. Because you have "could" berries.
๐
Is there.....now a Bear raid on your base added to the roster?
Because that would be pretty rough 3 or 4 of em at a time
Call to arms didn't have any new raids
I'll have to try my luck finding the traders because I have no map and max difficulty
yes that includes raids
which is why im terrified for defeating elder because of troll raids every like 15m iirc
on the bright side 2x resources
When deep north arrives im gonna set it all back to default
except the map
Ive gotten used to playing with no map and just making use of the environment as physical markers
Can Lox suffocate in walls or something?
Found my Lox dead in his pen when i got on my world today and i have no idea how he could have died
So bread and pie
I usually use 2 stamina and 1 health food
What other stamina food should i eat? Onion soup?
โblood puddingโ is another plains stamina food of you have the blood bags for it
Thats the problem
I would rather spend them on medium healing potions
If you're plains level, harvesting blood bags from the swamp shouldn't be a problem at all.
You will most likely have to return to the swamp to get more iron anyway, so the blood bags can be an "additional" harvest.
Its just annoying to get them
Plus i made a farm with that broom from the witch that doesnt work
i simply eat cloudberry until i get access to salad
copper is just a pita like this. all you can do it start chipping a way at it proper at the edges where you feel like it might connect, into the middle because there could be a random rock spawn, etc. it's a pain and never as easy as silver
Thatโs health food my boy
I thought so too, but according to the wiki it's yellow fork.
if you're at plains level you don't need bows. a lvl 4 iron mace one-shots them.
