Made a quick portal room, even for a beginner builder i say i did a good job
Might add connecting beams on the pillars so it looks nicer
Bro I wish I was as good of a beginner builder
My builds are just box, functionality over form amiright
building in valheim is a process that i like, i can see some not liking it, but even if its a box, its still a home
even so, the protal room took about 2 days to finish
Cozy cabin. Not sure I'm 100% happy with it, open to any suggestions
Added cross beams around the bottom, I think I like it.
Can’t really fault it for a meadows tier build. Maybe just clear out space around it so when you need a forge or kitchen you can build it there
Yeah, I kind of want dedicated building for that kind of stuff. Like a blacksmith building and a kitchen. Kind of want to progress from a lone cabin to a small town.
Yeah that’s always the coolest. Just make sure you dream big instead of small, in a couple of my worlds I find myself cramming new buildings into a space that’s too small
made a new house on a small island next the plains
Added a little second roof over the porch.
Are you new to Valheim?
Not trying to be a dick was just asking
No, I have like 300 hours or so, Im just not a good builder.
Nah you’re sound mate, just keep with that same sort of vibe when building the rest. As soon as you get a stonecutter you’ll be able to fully express yourself
I began to build my base right next to the boar runestone, and that's where I raise boar. I also venture into the Black Forest from there.
I also have a small base on one island in a set of 3, where I hunt deer, and set sail from on my raft.
Very early game, btw...just sayin.
Looks like a nice base
Its mostly functional, at least. 😅
Thats the way I build 🤷♂️
Nice.
I'll tell ya what, tho.
The roof on the chimney you might be able to see in the background there...that thing was a wicked hassle to build. 🤣
Once you get a knack for ground leveling and roofing you're practically a master builder
symetric building is a bit tricky, less with some math but overall achievable with some pre-calculations. Asymmetric is more challenging, following the topography is even more challenging
made a portal tower and a more proper dock
#building-screenshots message Added upper gatehouse tower...
I just started a world, of course I will make a house first, before even havin basic stuff
My first base in the game
You should add 1m overhangs to the flat sides of your roof
put storage closer to the docks/workshops. you'll thank me later
Love this, looks very authentic 💪🏼💪🏼. Slight shame the machicolations are only decorative, but impossible to build genuinely functioning ones without the wall looking odd due to block sizes on Valheim I think, unless anyone has managed it
Is this big enough or am I going to be cramped?
Seems like a prime spot to me
thanks 🙂 yeah the size of the blocks is an issue. these ones are functional and look somewhat good but the overall building scale needs to be massive to allow these machicolations to fit in. maybe sinking them into the wall half a meter could help.
Wolf Auto Feeder & Breeder
Using a Greyling to control Boar breeding and auto cull them to auto feed the Wolves
(#self-promotion message)
The end of an iron age. Now for silver
love it both ways. with/wo 2nd roof 👍🏽
Is there any way to eliminate the puddles of water that are created when it rains?
looks like its groundwater / sealevel. You can try removing the puddle using the hoe to level the ground
Man, too bad this base got destroyed by a troll today, and all my boars smashed to death.
Really glad I have that main base on my island after that, ngl.
i just had to make a rounded building, didn't i...? xD
I built a nice little sitting/work/gathering area around a campfire when I realized I could make sitting logs from corewood...Unfortunately, however, I have no friends to gather around the fire with. 🥲
Hello, I just wanted to share a castle my friend and I built
Is there a chat where I could dumb down lore for the builds I would like to share ?
probably #building-discussion? or here, Don forget to attach screenshots along with the lore so is not only text. Now I'm curious what you will post hehe
My builds look like, aesthetically good, but I want them to look more realistic like some of the stuff here and I'm bad at that
Good at pretty. Bad at realism. Or well proportioned interiors. Ugh.
Even if the floor level rises, puddles of water continue to form.
I assume building videos can go here as well as screenshots?
i think its ground fog(?) or dos it makes splashing sounds when jumping in?
normaly there is no grass under the water, shown in 1st picture - besides bog waves gushing over
it is fog
So this was my first time building anything of note with Grausten. Recorded this for my friend originally but wanted to show this off, super happy with how this came out (side note btw this isn't modded or anything other than the character model)
oh, and actually i remember why I came up with that half circle arch design pattern on the side
it was to cover up the stone portal slightly sticking outside the wall haha. So instead of re-designing the building to be bigger, just had to think of a clever way to hide it
smart
Dock too high?
haha maybe! during storms the waves tend to get higher but, could always make some stone stairs coming down off the side for easier access
Why roof tiles instead of stairs?
they are immune to water damage
I love the juxtaposition of the fantastically detailed castle next to the no effort dock 😅
good enough for now I think
"small dock energy"
How would they make this roof?
That looks cool, looks like what I try to do when making my first base
just check ocean levels during storms, my lower floor floods when storms come in 😅
my mooring solution to prevent storm damage, only the 45s have to be removed to release the ship
Yeah that’s always a problem, very hard to get right
The Tritable Hold
Super cool, awesome staircase and nice arches all around. Well done! Wish the crystal windows would melt into eachother more.
after seeing everyone elses builds its not much but its my first go at a castle on this game
^ My PC would melt if I even considered doing something remotely on the same scale.
love the sunrays
Looks like haldor forgot to mine his copper
I told my friend we needed a lot of wood and he said "aight bet brb". Little did I know he was going to bring back 2 trolls and deforest all the beautiful trees around us for a quarter mile lmao.
They hear "wood" and turn into the Onceler
🎶 I’m just following Odin’s destiny!🎶
Screenshot of a fortress im working on
Just sharing a base I made
That's it... still need some pens for animal stock though 😅
A bit plain, but the bath house is done.
Now if I could just figure out what to fill it out with... The tower is just a modified version of "Crate of Bananas'" fort build.
bell gate
Really nice for a first go!
Took way too long to layout this basement
What's everyone think? bad quality but whatever. still a work in progress obviously
I stopped mid build, turned around and realized I shouldn't get distracted 🙈
Hillfort Home
Some screenshots of a 2-story castle I build
niceee
its an addiction bruh how do i stop 🤣
Simple, you don’t
good thing it aint a bad addiction lol
One of mine but after seeing some of those in here, feels crap lol
It's good, maybe just need a new roof and it'll feel better
Brought Christianity to valheim.
Odin will be p||unishing you ||r||eal hard f||o||r yo||u||r ||d||esecration||
No, bad Ragnar!
Come brothers, the pews are open and the bread and wine are plentiful!
Okay gotta admit that is really pretty
Good work! That's beautiful!
Amen brother 🙏 😄
Snow Lodge I finished the other day,
tower view of a quaint ruined village I had repaired and added to, used up until Mountains biome
Genuinely confused at the reactions lol, the build really that bad?
I liked it
Thanks lol. Never used Grausten before so, was a lot of trial and error to figure out if I was even using it the "right" way lol. Snapping points are insane on these pieces.
its not the build lol, i just dislike the furry
I like it. Some people react to anything mod related even if it's not the build. Grausten isn't easy to build with so that being the first build with it, you did great
starting to building docks
will build smt like on-water castle nearby
What you guys think of my archery range ?
yo nice base but there seems to be too many hills
I like it, it's good, I need to build one myself here soon.
Hey folks, so I made this building and the interior is a work in progress, a mix between a living quarters and working area for the blacksmith. Thing is though, buddy said it looks ugly and he can't tell if it's supposed to be a home or a castle. Anybody else have some insights? I asked him to elaborate more but he won't go further than that.
One more for good measure of the upstairs.
Large red sign (in the center of the portal) looks like a flat colour with reduced translucency after the Update 😔
I think it looks great, and I dont understand your friend's comment, but I do think that some added detail on that big section of roof would be nice. Just a gable or chimney or something.
Your buddy has no taste, then! A castle is, by definition, also a home - a fortified structure and a residence 🙂
I think it looks great, a little large for my tastes but fill in the interior and that should help
WIP still, but I'm really liking the ability to place stones with hoe.
progress
-# (make a tower) idk if i can turn it to a lighthouse
need help to do somthing useful with this
Are those the boss rocks?
yes
my friend mined the area and wanted to do a wood farm and i dont have an a clue what to do now
can this be turned into a wood farm?
unfinished build showcase (big poles gotta be a top3 things to build)
Yeah, just plant a bunch of trees 🙂
What should I build here?
"I just want to build a small outpost on the shore"
Is that a mod?
When did they add placing individual stones with a hoe?
I think you need the stone cutter for this?
Recently
You can place them with a hoe.
Since the pet rock update
Built a little training area.
I know I’m a bit late to this but this is actually gorgeous. One of the most beautiful structures I’ve seen made in Valheim.
make a chill outpost on my tower (i will be in iron debt)
best use for bear carpets:)
some poker anyone?
Swamp Tower! ☠️ (Still early WIP) 💚
start to improve my docks
-# ( these iron poles was so expensive )
in plan to connect this roofing with smt like longhouse
@stuck sierra A closer look at my crafting corridor in that open build
lowkey not that good compared to you guys but I like it
Looks fire 🔥
Cozy meadows tier hut 🙂
done half of roofing for longhouse and already run out of black ooze thing (idk how to show properly)
Drain the tar pits and you will find more 👍
Rich lore manor
in progress, eats so much grausten
Exited to get to the ash lands to start building with materials there especially with the new roof tiles
This my other castle in the dark forest
I mean I love it but it should go in mods screenshots
The building, so I mixed it up, sorry
done with roofing
also made some improvements to main hall
this is my foundry. i feel like it should have some form of roof or ornamentation on the tops of the walls but im out of ideas.
Made a cabin as an outpost for starting to get into the black forest. Any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated - trying to find my style a bit 🙂 Maybe went overboard with roof crosses...
what i should build here ? prefer clearly cosmetic
A defendable gate to stop any invaders from pillaging
exploring and building bases in the middle of nowhere are my 2 favorite things in this game 🙂
took me about 3 month to build this seaside citadel
still working on interiors and some other parts of the build
Hope no one plans to chop the tree down. 😵💫
I ain't waiting on Deep North for steep roofs. I'm making my own. 😅
no building mods used

I plan on revamping my base, right now looks basic amateurish built
Just follow some guides online on how to add depth to your walls, remember to always have roof overhangs, and don't be afraid to try shapes other than just a big rectangle for your base shape. And have fun while you're at it.😁
I had to tear down and redo the shapes on the roof and the wall decor on this house a few times until I got it to a point I was satisfied with.
And don't shy away from taking inspiration from stuff you find. I personaly took inspiration from this pic I found online. Don't even know where it's from, but I liked the roof shape and wanted to try it out.
Looks amazing!
Looks like a shroom
It really does, now that you mention it.
Looks like an angry locomotive
classy 🫡 🤝
Holy crap, I love this. I suck at this game HAHA thank you for making me sucky 😛
Don’t let him fool you I built that castle in the background
True
Go you, that building is amazing. I am working on a castle atm but after seeing some of the churches and cathedrals I want to pivot to that
This is what I am working on
Gotten this far at the moment. Not sure I am happy or not yet
working on a bastion to link my future Theodosian walls and claim them whole peninsula
Working on a meadows house, but I get the feeling something is off/missing with the overall shape. Anyone got ideas?
(X marks the intended entrance spot, and the lower roof I thought would be an open wall workspace). Chimney probably opposite entrance and either a balcony or a big window at the facade facing away to the right)
Lighthouse near elven island
@fiery bluff That is stunning
stunning indeed. Looks elder scrolls ish style. Thats a lot of gauss stone.
Thank you I was going to make Elven lighthouse but Idk if it is elven enought 😛
Turned out kinda nice. Outside decorations later when I have access to bronze and the cultivator
Opposite side, with rounded balcony, feature window and chimney. Definitely lacks some depth around the bottom though, so will probably add a small fenced in area back there with some log piles or something, just to break it up
my Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church cathedral
hello there! guys, how can i post to build-of-the-month? seems like i dont have access to post, i just joined to the channel, maybe there is some delay to post here?
Try here: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1381541790674452571
If you have no access, go to Channels & Roles and enable media channels (IIRC).
Oh thanks, turned out i just forgot to write a head of a text(screenshot to not be offtop=)
This starter base is made by the intent to infinetly expand it, will uptade yall when I reach 5, 10 and 15 rooms lenght
working on docks rn
This is my Vile hunting lookout

Starter hut in the meadows and future resting place when visiting the altar
Why u need rest buff when visiting the altar when u can use portal and visit the altar instantly
that corner of every build
help me with a classic chicken house for eggies no auto & a lighthouse no gauss little iron, rest aplenty.
This is absolutely awesome, I love all of it.
I got inspired by Samaramon's floating flower, and came up w/something similar. This is what I ended up with.
https://i.imgur.com/NYUSCXa.jpeg
What is that loop-design in the floor in front of the bed? Is that barrel hoops?
Yes they are. Very nice flower design! Cool concept, was looking for stuff to put in my lake. Thanks for the idea!
Yeah, it was a great way to use up all of the summer crowns, and serpent scales I had overflowing.
another angle w/dockyard in the background:
https://i.imgur.com/YKxPjBD.jpeg
this is by far the most unique thing ive seen here in months
It is extraordinary, that is a lot of patience, and free-handing precision. Good job.
Thanks a bunch!
It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
I'm curious though, doesn't the rain fall through the core wood, and cause weathering all inside the building?
i would hide a regular roof under the corewood to get the rested effect underneath
Not finished, but I've been working on a dwarven castle in the mountains.
You can really see the statuary work in this older photo. I'm trying to incorporate lots of knotwork and stone faces.
Moutain House
Meadows tier house in preparation for starting to delve into Black Forest. Happiest I've been with a build so far. Furnishing and some terraforming will have to wait just a little tho
This will be my Snowy Fortress on my forever world
that looks really good, reminds me of Enshrouded.... well done
Proper framing always sets you up for success
true i call it the minecraft effect
It will be good entrance to dungeon...
freeplaced spiral staircase
My friend suggested me to share my fortress I've been building solo for a couple of weeks already
I love to build on the snowy mountains and peaks but...
Me as well 😄 You need to play until you reach the mistlands to make sure to craft the new cloak
Some more screenshots of my fortress (yard, kitchen, bath, dormitory, treasury, mead hall, food storage, workshop) candles already burnt out and it's a little darker then it was in here unfortunately
I've reinforced walls with iron wood bars and cage walls, so why walls were stable and let me build it high
yeah. I build a cathedral once and used a lot of flametal to make it stable. But your benefit is the mountain so you can build even higher
#building-screenshots message
I am thinking of building one more fortress, I've found on my seed a great mountain (maybe the biggest I've seen for three years of playing this game) in deep north so it will be my next goal
Oh and may I ask you to share your cathedral?
Welll... I would wait with that one 😄 I build a nice portal hub in the ashlands before they were reworked... After the rework the island was gone an my portal hub was lost 😄 Therefore I do not build in an biome which will be updated 😄
Already did 😉
#building-screenshots message
well technically its Mountain biome and look how mighty and great it is
if that mountain is surrounded by deep north, be prepared to lose everything u build there once the next biome goes live
Quite sad:( I didn't know that biome reworking deletes existing biomes if they are surronded. Well then I should build the greatest of castles and make some screenshots before it is gone
there are mods which enable making a copy of your fortress without the need to build it completely fresh
I adore the process:) so why I want to build one more castle from scratch
I prefer this one as well 😄 and since you already did it once, you'll usually end up with an even bigger and better one 😉 the cathedral I showed was my second since I learned from the first one 😄
I really like the trimmings on the walls, and the fact that it is build into the mountain. The build itself gives me a little bit of LOTR/WoW vibes.
it's possible but we're not sure yet.
while it may have looked like ashlands had mountains in them before the ashlands update, they never actually did, the terrain just went high enough to display as snowy on the map.
so at least so far, no updates have actually changed biome borders (in existing worlds), only the terrain within and around those borders.
-# though considering how much of the deep north's space is currently "wasted" (in terms of progression-relevant biomes) by mountains, it's fair to assume the mountains won't stay, sadly, but i can hope at least their altitude will remain. :>
a few screenshots about my portal hub + guard chickens i tried to decorate them based on the style of the biomes the random fences are to prevent chicken accidents
So, my castle may be not touched, if it is placed in Mountain biome which is surronded by Deep North biome? Quite great news then!:) In any case, I will post it here as soon as I start building process
can't be certain 😅 i'm only saying it's not certain that it will be touched either
I'm also wondering that. Since before Ashlands update the Southest part was considered fully as "Ashlands" (also the "mountain parts as you mentioned), but the Northest part still has Ocean and Mountain biome areas inside/between the DN parts. Will they manage to mesh the area fully to DN similarly how Ashlands was and is still currently?
Did they change it so you can plant mistshrooms in the meadows now?
Ig no , maybe him used console
You can put them with the tray, they're not planted
Cool, hadn't tried the tray on anything but a table. That explains how they're so close together too
Dude you have some awesome ideas! Thanks for the screenshots. Especially love the grand hall, the yard and the meat storage! Frost staff instead of frozen golem trophy might be even better for the fridge feel!
planned out the basic idea for harbor.
Thinking big I see!
Used up all my scales to make more flowers, but it was worth it.

https://i.imgur.com/ZqXpapV.jpg
I made an improvised smelting area thingy next to my base, with the plan to have two similar ones next to eachother. But I kinda don't like how it turned out 😄 Still it's something
I'm building a fort with some wooden infastructure. but the wood part is looking weird to me. anyone have tips on improving the supports to this so they look better?
I put a second pillar on top of the supporting pillar and it looks a lot better
any ideas on what to make here? also is there a way to maybe make my roof not suck? (i dont mean making overhangs)
make a storage, use it as your sleeping room
what do you mean with "make my roof not suck"? 😄
I would place the storage and work benchs on the lower part, since it's annoying to carry stones, wood or ore up the stairs, furnaces outside and kitchen, sleepingroom, map-table, rested-stuff upstairs
some silly looking statue ( raw model ) 😅
im new to the game, what would i use to fill this hole in the roof?
Make your inside fire there and dont close it? Use it as your chimney. Or put a 45% cross there. Or have the roof extend 1 meter past the wall.
45 degree cross. If the gap still annoys you, stick a horizontal 2m beam on top of the 2m wall and/or a 1m vertical beam below the cross.
If you want to completely fill it then I think the only option is using 45 degree walls overlapping the ones you already have so they meet exactly in the middle. But personally I would use cross and beam to leave a slight gap - gives it a bit more depth too and has no gameplay disadvantage. Think of it as ventilation
It's too small for a functional chimney though I'm pretty sure... smoke particles are actually rather big
thanks
Hi, here my first bridge 🙂
large storage shelf build (2x6) v1
Didn't quite finish my meadows base but I'm ready to move on to plains anyway so I figure I'd show what I ended up with. The original plan was to have a road that snaked and winded up the hill, with kitchen/living area in a separate building up above and farm plots in between.
Looking for ways to make tiny immersive but functional wind/rain-covers for campfires. Any neat ideas welcome 🙂
The foundation for the balcony oriel of my mountain build is laid.
small update of my Vile hunting lookout (only had 1 Vile spawning in 50 days but around 6 Trolls, 10 Bears and countless Greydwarfs, Fulings, Deathquitos, Boars, Deers, Necks, Skeletons and Segulls...Vile are very very rare...)
work in progress, but its definitinty improved from how it was yesterday
That is looking SOO good. I love the detail between the core wood and the x beams.
a big thing im working on
Yet another cozy cabin
Did I overdo with the boats? In the end I wanted this place to fell "alive" so this amount of boats fell accurate I guess
not done yet... but so far so good
🙂 my simple dock
this boat house was a PAIN to build for a newbie like me but worth it
Just wait until you need a bigger one for bigger boats
You can put some open air, depth creating columns in there, but no need to fill the space completely
Finished with the actual house now - time to start living in it and progressing through BF. Left the backside of the house a bit barren deliberately as I intend to build a smelting/forge area back there next. Lots of room for decorations around it later - a fenced path up to the entrance and some farmland below.
Looking for ideas on what to do with beehives that looks good - usually I've just stuck them in a field somewhere
Now that it's been released .... the battle arena makes a nice training yard .... with a few adjustments 😄 .
finished my dock longhouse ig /maybe will improve in future , but i start to lose fps here
I stick my hives on the stone walls surrounding my garden. Or ill cover an oak tree in hives. You can get quite a few on the trunk if you layer them just right
Hello,
Do you have more pictures or video of this building?
yes ofc its not done tho 💔
Like 90% of this build is done including the interiors. I ve got some left to do, but this place feels much better with all of the lights.
Still working on the docks tho but building 15m underwater aint fun and the fact that you are constantly getting moved by the waves is kind of annoying when you are trying to build something.
Still another month or two and i should be done with it aaaaand the best part, IT WAS ALL DONE ON VANILLA
my work in progress base after 190 day's (60+ day's of building)
Found a small land in the middle of the ocean. Time to build some fishing house.
Crikey, it is scary building tall before you have the feather cape...
I died nth time doing that shit. Never agian HAHAHA
I did that too! Super fun.
Can I see yours!!
I’ll have to take a screenshot later.
Sure no rush! Thank you very much!
Just randomly building along and ended up with a little curved chimney/fireplace area for a little house. Might be super annoying to furnish inside, but I think it looks kinda neat as a change up from the usual "in line with the wall" or "poking out at a 90 degree angle" fireplace spot
Any thoughts on this bar i made
i think ill build here some sort of observatory
cosy
Getting increasingly satisfied with my starter houses. 3 wide facades is good for this tier imo, but it's a pain to build centered pointy doorways and windows with. Lots of overlapping 45 degree walls before it's in place :<
early game smelting area with underground storage 🌲
Structure complete, now to polish interiors, storage, furniture, decorations. My biggest build ever, so got lots of space...
BEHOLD!! The Mighty Turnip Shrine
Why we have only Barley Wine in Valheim
howd you make those barrel sit like that? im also doing my cellars all I had are those barrels standing upwards.
I believe it’s a mod 🤔
dang I forgot about them... yeah this one piece was made using gizmo mod 😅
oooooh ok ok no other way of placing it without a mod? we'd like to play it vanilla as much as possible 🥹
Nope, not in vanilla. I agree, it would be a cool feature!
plz add this feature devs,
made a new two-storey house in the Mistlands, 1st floor is for the workshops and storage room with a small basement for the Eitr Refinery, 2nd floor for max comfort
really cozy
Before - After
Just adding back the stone I got from mining the copper out - no imports from elsewhere. Levelling the ground a bit and adding back the grass. Makes me feel so much better about mining out the underground parts of copper veins. Still leaves a hole, but gives less "minecraft chunk error" vibes
mama base
Mama mia
This is gorgeous! So cozy
I only had a small idea and then it escalated a bit. Now I have a whole city but I hate furnishing buildings. Is there anyone who likes interior design and decorating and would like to help me?
i built a castle (odd choice of weapon and armour, ik)
night time.
small tavern :)
rdy for some iron
working on.. got some iron

holy sht. its beautiful
starting to look cozy: kitchen, my room, spare floor, floor with a warehouse on the top of the tower with a balcony open to the (future) harbor..
Finally finished construction on my new base. I kinda like the small holes in the wooden wall, so leaving them for now.
You guys excuse me, I’m just starting to build 'what do you think?
I forgot how pretty this game can be
At least the outside looks pretty (don't mind the roof)
Fuksias' fancy wall in action
My Mountain castle build :)
No raids will get me in here muhahahha
I just spent 30 minutes building this dock so i could haul some metal scraps to shore. now im going to sail away and probably never see it again
Insides of one of our cozy mountain lodges 😉
small and cutie - approved 🤝
with the bath and braziers its like sauna in the there XD
man that castle gave me a boner
Im a big time builder player and like to build at such locations so I appreciate the workmanship!
I strive to make a castle build in every biome, but i gotta say.. mountain is too sweet of a place to not build there constantly XD
anyone else stick jackoturnips everywhere every october?
behold! the ice lantern
worlds most perfectly aligned dock
You need to use the curved parts of the roof pieces to line up with the arches. Here's a build using the curved roof pieces
https://www.valheimians.com/build/cathedral-1/
I made this house near spawn, uh xD Then 5 min later the message was "The ground is shaking".. mhm.. 2 trolls nearly destroying the entire house xD
The pathway 🔥
If they can see you they'll target you and not the building. When raids start I always run out to my back yard.
I did, but they smashed my house xD
That's quite unfortunate. Did reconstruction take long?
No, but a lot of repairs
#screenshots message
Working
Finally upgraded my main base with some Black Marble items. Still not done, but progress looks good!
Like the checkered floor
Once they add "Charred Bone Pile" I will make checkered floors out of the dusted remains of my enemies 😏
You can still do that, normal bone piles and black marble
Not the same given half of it wouldn't be bone.
True
Given the sheer number of charred we fight and the fact the building piece would literally just be a recolor, idk why Charred Bone Pile isn't a thing already.
Real, I’ve wanted one for ages
Storage floor in progress, pretty happy with it so far 😄
This is my fairly decent attempt at a good lox pen ... I have quite a few in there already and more are breeding so it's kinda roomy I guess.
Finished the western sea wall
My Lox Pen with some upgrades and now it's secure.
If this is your good lox pen, where do you send your bad lox? 😏
👀
Fortress WIP: main husk done, now to the insides...
Is this modded?
Andrews is.
no, i used the sealed tower as u can see..
pushed the hight to the limit..
all the stone part of the structure has stone floors, balcony wer the wood section starts included..
I see
new buildings are coming 😄
Black Pine Castle
3 pines holding the building.
the wall at day 1/4 completed
all-in-one base I've been working on. Still have work to do on the exterior/landscape.
@iron quiver
My idea for a portal. What do u guys think?
that looks like it came out of Control
Any suggestions for this design before I fill it out? Similar wing on the opposite side of the entrance
How it's turning out. Could use some more details eventually I guess, but the base structure ended up OK I think
oh that is cool. I love when ppl bring new conceptions
I am trying to build a flight tower network. Does anyone have any experience with that? Here is my planning picture, the grey circle's tower is up already. I was lucky enough to have Hook in the server seed:
this is what my maps currently looking like, im just up to delving the swamps and getting iron, do you think its okay to build my main big base near the trophy stones? Im currently just a bit north of them but dont know if i should just place a portal for when i want to swap out powers or if i should live there
Only with grounded towers
Similar build system to grounded so I might be able to help tomorrow
I usually just keep a small hut near the world spawn and eventually go back there to plop down a portal once I have the materials. You really don't wanna waste too much time traveling back and forth, so moving away from the center (either east or west) is a good idea in the long run.
main building for my first castle
I found out its possible to build midair by using devcommands and spawning a "Trader_wagon_destructable" and then build around it. The wagon counts as foundation. Idk where else to show this but i actually just wanted to ask if you guys had any ideas for a build i could do with it up here. I thought about making some kind of lighthouse but idk how to do that if im honest
Oh thank you for the offer! I'm on a private server based out of a small town, I'm not sure I can give out the login info. I was looking more for advice on the situation than anything, but I appreciate you.
Not quite in the league of some, but I don't recall seeing any boathouses. This is early plains level, with no command line, dev commands, debug, or mods used (everything earned and built the vanilla game way).
Oh ok
Nice! The banners kind of give me a Tibetan Prayer Flag vibe.
@atomic canopy Are the towers you build in grounded used for a similar purpose to catapult towers in valheim? I haven't played it.
Yes, but we use zip lines rather than catapults
If you want something to build from in midair that doesn't show up, you can also spawn Rock_destructible_test. You can pickaxe it down to a single tiny rock and it can hide inside a piece.
But wont that make the buildable air airea smaller? Like less foundation?
Technically sure, but you can spawn as many as you would like, wherever you need them.
But what about the hight? I mean is there a way to make them all spwn at the same hight?
I think I understand your concern, but let me know if I'm misunderstanding. You don't need them under your entire build, just as a starting point, and then add them in wherever your stability degrades that you can't build anymore.
For example, If I was building a large tower - I would place a rock, build my floor out from the rock, and then probably a rock in each corner to make sure I can build vertically as far as possible. If I built up a wall and reached a vertical limit, I could place another rock on the last buildable piece, then I could build that same amount vertically again.
I hope that makes sense.
It does make sense. But my concern is:
When using the debugmode etc spawning a big rock places it above you. So if i start building and then place the next one it wont be on the same level. Making the whole build look weird. YOu know?
The idea with the rock is that it can be pickaxed down into a really small rock, about the size of a normal stone you can pick up, and that can hide inside of stone/marble pieces like floors or columns. It can be tricky to get it exactly where you want it, but worst case, you pickaxe it away and try again.
but even that one will spawn at a different hight. Wont it?
Probably slightly, unless you only fly horizontally when spawning the next rocks, sure. It shouldn't really be a concern if you are hiding them inside pieces.
Hmm. KK. Il try. Thx a bunch
Hopefully it helps, maybe I'm missing your concern. I've not worried about it too much because I usually only have to use a rock or two on big builds, otherwise relying on the stronger in-game materials to build further from the "foundation" rock.
cant u just use infinity hammer to adjust the items "rock to the exact height you want /need ?
infinity hammer?
lol bro its a game changer ofr building lol
What is it?`How do i use it?
best to do some looking into it but ya it allows you to do all kinds of stull like freeze object so custom build edit placements all kinds of stuff and im still new my self but it so nice to have
Share screenshots of the recent period.I'm working hard on the building of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and so far I've completed Hogwarts Castle, Quidditch Stadium, Hogsmeade Station, Weasley's House, and Luna's House.Except for planbuild, no other mods are used, and the materials are all original. But the buildings are empty because they start to drop frames.
Sry for the late response. I took a look and it most certainly looks interesting. But before I start modding the game I wanna beat it atleast once without. I added it to the list of mods though I wanna try. So thank you
I decided to continue my last project, huge medival city!
Guys, do you have any tips, how to optimalize game with this much of elements on the map? FPS is low af 😅(rtx 4070)
Maybe. Or maybe it’s me. Either way I’ll try. So thx
ya for sure lol i played vanilla for like a week i think then i learned about modded and well i never turn back lol
nothing particularly spectacular, but since I had so much trouble figuring out the round parts, I feel kind of proud of how this open-air kitchen came out (you can even spy on Hildir in the last picture :^) )
I don't have a screenshot of the base, but this is the general shape: it's a rounded rectangle in the middle with two half circles on each side
For a while I've been stuck in a "taller is better" mindset, but recently I found a new appreciation for lower builds. Feels more appropriate when it's just a house somewhere - whereas a really tall build can be epic but looks a bit out of place if not framed by other builds or landscaping etc 🙂 Just moved in so interior is wip
I'm not much of a builder but I made this early forge. 🙂
Gizmo mod? I'm just confused by how round it looks
Corewood is quite round I'd say.
started my first ever playthrough with my friend last night and spent the first 5 hours building!
welcome to the club 😂
slowmode still cooling down so i'll send em here
longhouse on the left, quite proud of it, cabin on the right that i'm not as proud of, though it's still unfinished
we got da forj (2)
and my ugly first cabin that i still haven't finished tearing down
inside the longhouse, not done furnishing yet though
and the name of my humble little town is Wilderun :)
(hats off to anyone who recognises where i got the name from)
all the crazy castles are cool, but they feel so empty if you don't have big big team you play with. nothing beats these cozy little wood homes!
changed banner colors because red and black is lowkey an evil ass combination, want it to be a nice inviting place not a villain's lair
anyway now we got SUOMI RRRRRAAAAAHHHH🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
small base in the black forest ^^
tearing down the house bc i hate how it turned out :DDDDDDD
spent the entirey of last tuesday building it :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Built a "silver delivery slide" ended up looking like a stairway to heaven, or highway to hell depending on which way you go
Do you guys think this light house would look better in gaustan?
No, that looks epic.
The only alternate I would try would be Black Marble.
This is my newest little Mistland build and it's got a working chimney even in the rain
Best part
first try to build my little mountain castle
maybe black marble but not gaustan.
The current tower is intentionally built with crooked stones here amd there to give the impression that it was hastily built by people with viking era technology. If I swap to marble I have to go the opposite direction and make it look really sleek
oh i understand that
It would be the same way with gaustan 🙂 sloppy build with gaustan looks weird
The city of Navipolis
This took inspiration from skyrims "whiterun" city, right?
new town with smithy, apotheciary, warehouse, port, bathhouse, archery range and tavern/kitchen, trade house and some barracks arround 25000 instances
Wow love the use of all the different materials layered. Great build!
More pics of the city. Hard to load it all at once so used freefly to get some wider shots Pt.1
Pt.2
Whats your framerate in the middle of that build?
My first build! Thanks to CallsignCorza to make this possible.
wow that looks nice
HOW
good guess but no :)
little basement storage area
cute
it runs like a Microsoft PowerPoint in the middle lol its about 55,000 instances
59,749 Instances at 19 fps when standing in the center plaza
Noice
Its not done yet, I'm finishing catedral right now
thanks!
I need to see this in action. Can you loose a heavy ladened cart with you atop it down ?
i rly like the roofed round towers. probs gonna implement this in my walltowers. already used them in the gate but i think to top off a round look this would be nice
Holy aura
Feel like it would be epic if we got loads of people to meet here for a sermon by you ! 😂
Love the roofline and lower windows! Thats a lot of detail for a first build!
I love the detail, personally. Makes it pop
my third day playing wanted to setup a storage area in the base this was my finished product. loving it
Nice nice I love the color coding very nice
How did you make this so stable?
I believe that's still reachable with iron beams
I hope you have raids disabled 👀
I'm trying to learn how to use Black Marble, and not just make a box like I do with Stone. Here's an attempt at a tower house with some storage & a Black Forge. Feedback welcome my main goal was to make sure the home had depth.
Anybody else have any building challenges for Black Marble or inspiration for Black Marble builds?
100%
I had raids enabled for the first 2 days then got 1 of my bases destroyed and disabled it.
I didn't wanna just go in and disable stuff without at least trying it.
Oh good haha, I was worried
I think you did really well! Always smart to look for inspiration in the game itself, really has the dvergr vibes to it. Good job on the wooden paneling and the furniture. Main tip i'd give you is look if you can incorporate some vertical paneling as well. I take it you play vanilla?
Thanks! Yes on the vanilla count - appreciate the thoughts on the vertical paneling
Ashwood and black marble look pretty nice together
Do you ever find that it all kinda melds together as one big blur of black? Perhaps I'm just looking for something that pops with the Black Marble background but this low contrast look can work too
This is the first time I've combined them. It's not going to be a large stuckure, and this part will be indoors with fire causing shadows against the wood
Work in progress
Flooring patterns are a good place to start, gives more interest than just using rugs everywhere.
That's a nice build, once you get to the Ashlands, if you aren't there already, grausten can add some chances at detailing. Yes, it's fiddly, but sometimes the finer details are what makes a build.
I honestly haven't ever tried anything like that, my floors are always just a plain grid so definitely room to improve there thank you!
gettin there 🙂 (survival)
I like to mix it with other materials
You mean like this?
Floors like that make me think i would trip on the wood
I think DANG how long did it take to make that! My brain doesn’t have the ability to come up with anything that creative!
It's actually relatively smooth, the difficult part is getting the Shift placement right on the first one (a 2x2 piece), then filling in the rest of the area. The marble pieces are what took the time to get placed correctly, they are slightly smaller that the hole they fill.
I'll spend time just playing around with how pieces can fit together, often in 'free build' or 'creative' mode. I'll have the beginnings of an idea, and there are times that I have to mess around with things till I figure it out. Sometimes I'll see what someone has done, and it'll give me an idea to do something similar, yet just different enough, to not be a copy.
look like an inviting...mouth to you? hehehe
Is this what Viking prime development land is?
I need them to make CharredBoneStack a thing so I can have a checkered floor purely made of the bones of my enemies.
That piece you are standing on is a nice roof detail. Might steal that.
My Greydwarf Auto-Farm
Hey folks
Working on a larger longhouse and i feel like i may have overcooked. im not exactly sure where it went wrong but something just isnt working.
Any ideas on how to fix/improve this?
There is definetly something with the roof that just doesnt work.
First 3 pictures look fine. 4th picture is just "what is that random thing jutting out in the top middle of the photo?"
Ive started by cutting out this extended piece of roof, which i think helped a lot. not sure how im gonna fill it in tho.
I really like the look of this at night
Show me your fireplaces
I don't have any other fireplace pics, it's just my swamp retreat up in a tree.
Okay, I lied. but I had to go digging for it.
wth is that metropolis😂
Anyone have screenshots of a gaustan castle in a swamp?
Reinforced black marble walls style build.
Reinforced Portal Hub, Turnip Shrine, Archery Range & Obliterator.
Nothing too fancy here but I think we're ready for the next region.
very old picture but the time when i used to love playing Valheim till the day I am still waiting for the North to be released
my outpost! still very new at building with stone so this is mostly experimenting with it
This front gate is a combo of black marble, grausten & flame metal. It took a while to get it just right but I like the results =+)
looks very mount Olympus
I think im good at building then this chat reminds me im not
If you build something that you enjoy coming home to, looking at or you like for any other reason, you're good at building.
Eh room for improvement
It's good if it artistically moves me
And now you're back to the dreaded "that's subjecthive" and "there is no correct answer" 😄 😛
Yurrrrp
Why can't all games have a single correct way... like Minesweeper 😏
When some buildings look objectively good some don't
The game also helps... You could build a simple thing, and when sunlight falls on it, it suddenly pops
True
As they say, beauty dwells in the eye of the observer, but any form of art respects certain rules (art uses color theory, proportions and composition, music uses assonance and dissonance, sports rely on coordination, etc... just to name a few) so the "beauty" in the saying refers to how much the person looking at art either studied that art form or has innate perception of those rules governing it.
If you find something ugly, it's because the object you're looking at didn't tick one of those boxes.
Building usually falls within the realm of pure art, where proportions, contrasts and basically color in general play a role to make something beautiful: why do your walls need depth? Proportions, contrast and negative space. Why does using random roof tiles (either wood or tar pieces) look bad? Excessive color contrast and lack of identifiable rules (any kind of identifiable pattern will make the roof look much better in comparison). And so on so forth
Huh?
it's to say that art is objective
But it isn't...
Rule it up all you want, person has to (as you said) understand the rules - but they also have to care about them.
Everything you mentioned is a way describing certain perspectives to view art from. Which is the crux of what it is, and always will be, subjective. Because each individual's perspective is going to govern how they view things and what they do/do not find good in different arts.
If art was objective, you would know. Because there would be the EA Games of the art world that had formulated it and was pumping out microtransaction art pieces for billions of dollars a year.
Objectively good art isn't necessarily valuable, valuable art is usually a tax scheme or has something unique to say about society, as well as (usually) being quality art. I think what Seijiro was saying is definitely valid, which is why we are all trying creative solutions and builds in Valheim in the first place.
Just wanted to share something I built many years ago and it still brings me great joy! It was built because I'd just tamed my first 2 star wolves and brought them on a great sea journey. Built it in vanilla with lots of holding shift placement.
I'm trying to build a Castlevania-style castle, just started construction. The plan is to create a huge castle similar to Carmilla's from the Shadow Lords series
my over engineered portal hut for a place i go to once every few months
dverger reading lights 😄
so cool 😮
so art is objective, we just cant agree on the rules.
Croissant
Is this building buttery and flaky?
No, but nice roll.
not to throw a grenade in here, but art is 'subjective' not 'objective'. subjective=personal feelings, opinions, tastes, or interpretations (art). objective=based on fact and evidence not influenced by personal feelings 👍
Art doesn't have to be beautiful
Beauty is art and art is beauty. It makes no sense to talk about ugly art, because that isn't art, it's something that fails to become art
There is a youtube channel called burialgoods.
While not calling his videos beautiful is fair, because few are.
Not calling his videos art is an insult to art itself.
"Grovers mad quest to kill god" is a masterpiece.
As is drue langlois/minutehour's "thats a nice grill"
The "eldrich Garfield" art is another notable example.
"Saturn devouring his son"
"The blade itself" Joe Abercrombie
So rather than beauty, emotion is art and art is emotion
A twin Plains Tower Home connected by a bridge. (My brother and i are new players)
suggestions to make this less cramped and more defensible? Post Eithryr and just starting to venture into black forest
move your funace and kiln down in the open area near the shore, will make it less cramped
its not much but i think it looks pretty good
Complete realignment of the central door and added some grausten trim right above the door. This is my front gate and I think.... think it's done finaly =+)
my first main hall
DAYUM
Not really a build but here's my trophy wall
The big building I made though the roof is complete now. An interior shot. A view from across the water day and night with new tower.
A better view of the tower
I'm continuing to build a rough castle. I've built a bridge around the corner, and there will be a village with a view of the huge castle. It's funny that the game has such a low draw distance. I downloaded a mod that increases the draw distance, but it clearly requires more than 16 GB of RAM
somehow accidentally created a mid-century-modern viking house?????
Jack-o-Turnips just fit the Galdr ambience tbh.
what you all think
That’s wild!
Haldor now got his own well protected castle!

little basement tavern for kicking back with the tribe
@wraith oriole Fitting into the tower design I figured out yesterday.
Hot tub is on the roof/floor above and armor stand is tucked. But I think this fills the space nicely.
Hella nice
Time to go collect more marble 😄
Any ideas on how to fix my roof from breaking? I have a ton of support columns underneath but this one part keeps breaking. I can send other screenshots too, lmk. Any help is appreciated. Also I am still in bronze age so no iron reinforcements sadly.
Core wood pole on that spot from ground up to the roof?
Actually yeah I could do that, i forgot about core wood. Currently I have just wood. Thanks!
first build like that just went to builds
@dapper matrix so if I want to have a floor dedicated to each biome, this is the canvas space I have to work with.
oops, forgot to attach...
Oh . That’s a lil small ain’t it?
TBD. 🤷♂️
No idea what this means to be honest but that’s the reason why I made my tower bigger. Mine has additional 2m to it’s radius. So 4m wider in total
building a historically accurate norman castle keep in the mountains 👍
@dapper matrix for contrast, this is Ashwood.
Got it. It is the one I thought. Thx
Me and my 5min bigbrain architecture. Its all green. Nothing red.
Barn with dedicated vine wall.
It's a roof that wont give you shelter so you can't use a bed... And if it rains it'll take damage - but it looks nice 😆
starting to look like home!
looks cool! place dvergr circlets above your armor displays to act as spotlights!
i manage so salvage it somehow lol. i didnt consider the roof size when floor planning so now the measurements is totally off
pretty spacious
@edgy breach #mods-screenshots
sorry mb
Any age of empires 2 fans?
hopefully these pallisade walls will protect my TC from greydwarf rushes xD
A few more hours
@hearty gull this is the tallest I could get with flametal reinforcement. (60m)
first time using grausten (askvin pen)
just realized this spot has all of my 'first evers'. first ever corewood, first ever stone. and first ever black marble
anyone know if the glass will hold hold up if i try running this refinery?
@dapper matrix Here it is 😅
They look the same size to me. This is one i found
Oh okay, it seemed a bit small but I suppose not very!
It does seem small but if you look closely and count the pieces too I get the same result
Nice! Love the offset/ asymmetrical roof
That's awesome!
Thanks 🙂 that side of the house has 1block high glass windows along the wall where the roof levels separate
And so it begins.
Im really not good at building but i made this cute lil area in my new starter house and was quite proud of myself
you can stack the log fences on top of each other to make them taller. most people don't know this.
Kindly check channel description. 👍
Christmas trees are out now?
In creative so have everything.
don't mind them. you can post your modded screenshots here. it doesn't matter
don't mind what?
we split the content because new player shouldn't be confused
so why are they posting clearly modded builds in the botm? wouldn't that confuse new players too? you guys like to contradict yourselves a lot here
so when someone wants to post their build that they worked very hard on whether it be modded or not, no one wants to post it in the modded screenshot channel. Why? because no one ever looks there. Builders want their builds to... idk... maybe be seen?
wouldn't that be cleaver?
i am so sick of these people in here trolling builders who just want to show their builds. it really shouldn't matter if the build is modded or not, especially if the only mod that was used was something like Gizmo and all the build pieces are still vanilla.
you folks really need to get with the program
they?
I am a game developer
and "clearly modded" in BOTM ?
yes, the last post had pieces that were obviously placed with gizmo
in the post we did? 🤔
yessir!
well. the rules in this channel is vanilla content only
i disagree
between you and me. I make the rules for the discord
for now
not sure what you mean with that 😄
i bet you could if you just think about it lol
you say that like it would be necessary
well. last chance. follow our rules or don't be in our discord
Imagine arguing with a dev...
well if you're too afraid to have those uncomfortable conversations, then that says more about you
i don't care who or what you are. i speak up when something is incorrect whether it be against someone's rule or what-have-you. there are arbitrary rules, and then there's what's actually right and wrong
Nothing is incorrect though. The channel has stated rules that existed before things were posted.
just because its a rule doesn't make it right
🤦♂️
i disagree with the rule and i'm allowed to say so
sev.. stop fighting 😄
Encouraging people to actively break it is....
Ok Smiffe 👍
a rule must be up for discussion
Encouraging breakage and insulting people for following is outside the purview of "discussion" though. But I will move on.
so if you guys don't want modded screenshots in the building screenshots channel, you should really be more on top of it rather than letting other members troll their post with "wrong channel" reactions and Xs and all that stuff. It makes people feel like crap. Doesn't that also go against your "no backseat moderating" policy?
I don't encourage breakage of anything. But people will break what they will anyways. And using a mod to enhance a game is the literal exact opposite of breaking it. I'm thinking about all the people out there that get trolled by people like you who want to throw a bunch of "wrong channel" reactions all over someone's beautiful build, like they're an idiot. So you don't think about those people do you?
I won't lie. I think @tropic idol might actually have a point. But I also think that might be the hill they die on🤣
it will be 🤣
If some people read channel descriptions it would reduce confusion. Although there is never harm to point in right direction IMO.
i just don’t appreciate this community’s attitude toward modding. as soon as you mention you use mods, you’re automatically branded a filthy cheater and your IQ drops 10 points and i’m over it.
No one is suggesting such. But there are mod related channels for people who mod their game and want to discuss those topics.
so all screenshots now go to the mods-screenshots as this is now a discussion channel about what may or may not be posted?
the wast majority of players don't use mods.
and modded screenshots don't have any tags on them to tell those users "this is modded content"
lucky gacha pull seeing someone start stupid drama in this channel with a dev of all people
otherwise, have and old screenshot of my main workshop
Stone ceiling with no ironwood supports 👀 That's a rarity and hard to pull off.
yeah the middle tiles are real red
iirc the dimensions were 4 wide by 8 long for the roof
I've since gotten access to blackstone and moved to a larger compound, which I posted screenshot of way back here #screenshots message
What would you guys say. Is this a good colour on a sign for the storage? My brother said smt yellow-greenish would be nice
Lol dude theres a modded build channel for a reason and i dont think the botm used gizmo you can use sign text to make perfect guidelines for curves of your choosing
Update on this. What do you guys think? Is this good?
I like the look. I dislike the spelling 😭
KK. Thx Thats on purpose. Idk why but my brother thinks mispelling such obwious thngs is funny. It is kinda. And we are a funny duo. No we are hilarious. We are a hilarious duo
CLEAN
Wip first mountain build
Any ideas how i could make this transition smother?
Heres from a slightly different angle. I dont realyl like the change of colour and the slight bump when running up the stairs....
I would just get rid of the dvergr stairs and use a 2x2 floor and a normal staircase, but you may have to adjust the stairs going up though
Maybe that's better yes. I had it before like that but i wasn't satisfied with how... well.... with the kinda chunky looks. But maybe thats just the smother solution after all...
This was built with mods. Look at the fences, there are not that many vertices in vanilla. So you won't allow modded screenshots in the building channel, but then you'll choose a modded build for the build of the month. Terrible double standard and the modded screenshots channel should disappear.
What fences are you describing? looks like ashwood dividers snapped from the top into the ground?
the foot of the stairs
That roof was done using a sign text technique i dont think any mods are involved
those fence angles are not possible in vanilla
Could you take a closer ss of what youre looking at?
i know all about that technique and thats not what i'm referring to
ABOLISH THE MODDED SCREENSHOTS CHANNEL! Who's with me?!
Are you saying the way the fences are rotated is done using a mod?
yes, clearly. those angles are not possible in vanilla
To me it looks like from the angle of the ss it may seem that way but i dont think so
In this ss the angles look perfectly vanilla to me?
Looks normal to me
If he was using the gizmo mod dont you think those fences would be perfectly rounded?
Most likely
And the oc for the build claimed vanilla when he uploaded it you really think he would lie to gain some sort of advantage to win?
these were placed in 16th vertices which is not possible in vanilla. vanilla is 8
That's normal
no it is not
Maybe he free placed them to achieve that angle rather than using the snapping points?
show me how you're able to get those angles with 8 vertices
you can freely place them but you cant freely spin them
its MODDED
So you’re claiming that the oc lied about not using any mods based on the angle of the fences on one part of the build?
It's 1 turn, 2 turns, 4 turns. It's normal
if they said that this build was made with zero mods? THEY'RE A LIAR
i know what I'm talking about and none of you want to believe it. its hilarious at this point. you'll defend it until your last breath
You can see on the right side of the left fence how he used two rotations instead of 1 closest to the door and then 1 rotation on the outside for the rounded edge
What counts as a mod? Is it a download that adds to the existing game i take it?
If he used gizmo those would be perfect curves why would the builder cut corners there while the rest of the build looks fantastic?
the three rotations I circled are not possible with vanilla build mechanics. I've been using Gizmo for a long time, I know a gizmo build when I see it
ah okay, so I have never used a mod haha. I just use devcommands 😛
thats not considered modding to be fair
I have always been crap getting into the whole mod aspect of games, i never know which ones etc.
So not only are you saying that the person who won build of the month lied about their build, but you are suggesting combing the modded and unmodded build channels? What kind of purpose would that even serve other than confusing any new or inexperienced player
You can certainly have 16 ankles for each building piece in vanilla.
Source: over 3,2k hours vanilla.
Zero mods and it looks exactly the same to me
Lmfao case closed
you're a god damn liar
Bro i play on xbox game pass lol
that is bs and you know it. since when can you have 16 vertices in vanilla?
Come on dude really why would someone fake that to support a false claim from a random person in a discord
Since the beginning.
I literally can't use mods lol
They won botm cause its a damn good build, theres separate channels for modded and unmodded builds for a clear reason, if you have seen what is possible with some of the available building mods theres no reason why you would suggest combining the two and confusing anyone that isnt too involved in building or is just getting into it.
1-16
Vanilla af.
what part of that wouldn't be possible he said? 😮
I think the real vertices were the friends we made along the way
I think someone is due for a nice long vanilla playthrough to get in touch with reality
No idea, I just figured I'd go ahead and copy it to be sure and since i play on xbox which has no support for mods there's no contest lol
16 verticals
I am quite sure I don't have any kind of mods running
and it's 16 flips
Clearly modded. Theres channels for that dad Lol
Just finished my first playthrough, had an amazing time!
What do y'all think of my base?
https://imgur.com/a/tpWaKue
aint botm roofing is modded i dont get it ?
or it just perfectly snapped to look like this
26 degree zigzag or smt ?
Entirely possible with lots of patience.
ill recommend to use no rain damage mod to solve practical use of that roofing
my best guess is that it was built with a sort of guide
its incredible how precise you can make builds without snapping points if you have a specific texture and pattern you can use for references.
Tho personally i don't have the patience for it.
and this mod would be useless for that build since all diagonal beams take no rain damage
I am really stupid when I wake up so this one is on me, but I can't tell what part you're talking about 😅
If you mean the roof of the layer cake portion, I started with like an 8-arm starfish kinda thing and then filled in the middle parts. I lined things up by choosing a specific texture pixel and making all of my placements there.
i understand how its done / and i just didnt know corewood beams take no rain damage
anyways that build amazing, and ill try to do smt like this in deep north
ty!
Using sign text you can make custom curve guidelines to build off of, Versaugh explains it very well in one of his latest vids
It's a vanilla build, all of that is possible without mods, I've never modded and have over 3k hours into the game. He wasn't lying, maybe try recreating something without mods before accusing someone of lying about building in vanilla
bore someone else with your little opinion
the god damn build is modded and you can disagree as little or as much as you wish. and since we’re measuring dicks, i have 5k hours to your 3k so what tf ever.
You sound really bored 🙂
yep! we are laughing hahaha
you would know
LOL ty for the laugh, bye
can i report you for spamming this channel with discussions bordering on trolling? this is a screenshot channel, so stop abusing it
now i have some real business to attend to so you can stop tagging me. aurevoir
mb adding to it, just hate to see such an amazing build get bashed for no reason. There are some amazing builds posted in here, I hope the focus goes back on the builds, can't wait to keep seeing more from everyone ❤️
My new buddy definitely looks normal doesn't he? (I'm talking about the one with a body)😂
I decided i might just have to imprison him. He scared me with his look
Lol love it
Thx. Do you happen to have a idea how i could close the cage on the front? I dont want to use the glass since its too sparkly.
the dverger metal wall maybe?
You could use iron bars or the dvergr metal wall since you put him in a prison XD
If you mean, smoother like you get stuck in the stairs, maybe because you inadvertely are not correctly aligning the dverger stairs with the rest. Dvergr stairs have 2 snap point at the bottom center zone, one displaced 0,25m to the side from the other. That means, depending of how you place them, you are trying to pass through a place that is narrower than expected (even if only slightly) and combined with the spiral staircase design it's prone to jam. Regarding the aspect, either you rearrange completely the stair or you create your own spiral stair with regular wood to keep the color homogeneous. Here's an example how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZt_UkXFZ_I
Guide to build your own spiral stair in Valheim like no other you have seen. Very easy, almost everything is placed using snap points.
Very customizable, included one without central support

You have been using that mod for so long that you forget what's possible without it... I don't know if I find it sad, funny or both things
Yes. I later found out by coincidence about the second snap point because nothing alligned well. I managed to fix the stairs too now. But thx anyway. I have a lot of problems with stairs. Definitely watch that vid
BTW, as far as I know, that nasty snap point on those stairs is the ONLY way to have a true horizontal shift of 0,25m in the game (the wood door trick is slightly longer). So, keep it in mind in case you would ever need it.
Really? Got it. Noted in my Valhaim Notes. Thx for that
This is the new floor I've made for additional storage. Just sending it to show and ask for tips on improvement.
Oh and i might add another tunnel to the right of the stairs. Maybe in to another storage room. Or linked to the weapon room. Also the caged floor is to give the whole storage room part a lil more style. On top if the caged floors i will place chest. Nowhere else
Never seen a build around spawn like this and thought it would be fun for a survival base (im sure many people have done this, also smelters are temporarily there and i want to note that the thatch roof on the dock building will be changed to something that looks better when i have the materials)
Well, I'll just take this accusation as a compliment.
And no, I haven't used any building/decor related mods to make this. I've made my stance clear on multiple occasions on gizmo and how much I dislike it. (to me it feels like cheating)
Thats a really nice spawn. Lucky you. You can build a harbor for your ships and you even have circle inside your base. Quite literally everything you need for a main base.
exactly my thoughts, id really like to make it into a big settlement/city at some point, and have this current central area be like a city garden sorta thing
I didn’t have that luck yet
wdym, like with a seed?
Yes. Well I had awesome seeds alr but not yet one like this. Your seed is awesome
i had looked for good seeds by generating worlds but found nothing, just decided to try a new world one day and found this first try
Damn. That’s some awesome luck. I only had villages and big wood arenas next to each other but never a spawn that was actually good. Just the map itself
I think i made it a bit too big lol
Might make the tower another square taller though, but i like how the roof turned out
Accidentally knocked a cart onto my boat, but i kinda like how it looks so it might stay
Also just moved my crafting area
Might have to steal this idea ngl
It looks surprisingly good right? a little detail in a build where you wouldnt expect it
smoky throne'
Just a warning, after 30 minutes it randomly bugged into the boat damaging both
I had to spend a few minutes repairing and pushing them to get it off
Nvm then
I made a Forge Castle. (Not finished)
Bro's about to get married, so we made a church inside our server (vanilla).
First creative build, WIP
That'll look awesome when you reached grousten/ash woods
Originally i was making it to refine a survival build and so was just using materials i have access to, but now im thinking of making it a whole world, so i might try out grousten etc
Im liking how its taking shape, think ill stick to plains material as the theme more or less (the rounded rectangle will be a hall eventually)
Great wall design! And I like the protected dock youve got going. Very nice and defendable base. Keep us posted.
How many hours do people sink into collecting stones just to terraform a large base structure with the ramps and what not? That would drive me crazy lol
Usually when i'm playing a vanilla playthrough i end up just digging some huge moat / trench around my build and it looks like trash but everything falls in and i add wall spikes along the holes and they take care of them selves eventually lol
what do we think so far?
i'm trying to get a clear design template for the roofs and walls first before moving on to the rest of the lodge
done with devcommands on ofc i value my sanity
any advice on how to add structural integrity to the end parts of the roof?
the only thing i could think of is replacing the core wood support beams with iron wood
Thanks, I'll keep the channel updated.
I think it goes in #mods-screenshots
Does using fly and hammer mode really count as modded?
No, using mods counts as modded.
So all of my questions about vanilla building are invalidated because I'm wearing horse armor and my foliage looks different
Modded is modded. 🤷♂️
I don't have questions about mods I have questions about building
Modded screenshots go in #mods-screenshots .
Keeping modded screenshots out of this channel ensures new players don’t get confused if they stumble upon them
Maybe try removing your armor and omitting the modded foliage for future reference 🙂
Very long and drawn out agrument was had a couple days ago that ended with a developer stepping in and re-affirming the channel descript clearly states which screenshots go where.
Otherwise I think your build looks really cool
You can do that, and then just place the core wood over the wood iron. But you'll want the wood iron beams all the way to the ground for proper support.
I am not saying "screw you wrong channel" I am saying "plz put in correct channel because I would hate for you to get bopped over something so simple."
Thx fukov I'll get on that
But fr though what do you think of the design?
I need a second opinion from good builders none of my friends know how this stuff works
Good is a point of view, Anakin.
Skilled
I wouldn't say I'm particularly good compared to others tbh, good at making boxes lol but it's an interesting build for sure
I love and hate the integrity system in this game
It makes it much harder to build whatever you want but at the same time it promotes realistic building designs and detailing
I'm at the point in my build however where it's becoming a hindrance to what I want to do
Yeh this is way too big lol i have no idea what to do with it, but i fixed the stairs to the tower
I think that's about all I'm gonna do with this, basement room, tower workshop, and a bunch of marble pillars and some accents
Feel it needs alot of work, but i think its enough for tonight, its 3 AM and i should sleep
Made a structure list for everything I'll want in my base... 👀
Can you turn the sun on? Can't see anything.
I had to turn my brightness way up but ohhh, me likey! I like how the 2nd floor overhangs the first!
Temporary cabin
Big Cathedral
not much of a builder, but trying my hand at making myself a larger base (still in progress) suggestions welcomed!
You will be so happy when you get to Marble 💛
Finished the church for our boi.
Build inspiration from @WafflesGamesProbably (YT) | u/IsoscelesWaffles (Reddit) Thank you again bro
This is amazing! Well played.
