You should post that in #1024264966712340510 , this channel is for general chat 🙂
okay will do, but don't know how
I just click on new post and then put in the details?
Yup. If people are looking for servers, that's where they'll be doing it.
#building-screenshots message @steel mica While on the topic of Asksvin, here’s my Asksvin ranch! Kinda proud of it- I made it pretty quickly because I needed a place to start making eggs lol
Lovely, sure hope that no deathsquito just comes flying in alerting them and making them breach
Haha the area around everything is very spawn proofed! Haven’t had an issue yet, but I’m sure it’s bound to happen. The exterior is also patrolled by 2 star wolves as an added layer of defense.
Sh THE 2** IS KILLING THE 1*
At least it’s not the other way around!
Have you spammed campfires around the area for spawn protection 👀
I have not hold on
I just posted it, hope it works out.
Ducks are fine. It's geese you gotta watch out for...
Im gonna dead sprint this 2** asksvin back at my base, im not risking it here at the middle of nowhere
Staff of protection gonna come in handy
Maybe they'll add Emus 😛 Humans have yet to win a war against them, and we've had at least one
Ok but what about ducks with horns? 🤔
Even more scum
Duck-themed battlepass
SHE PURS TO LIFE LADIES AND GENTS
Very nice! Now start producing eggs like crazy so you never have to worry about it again
The Lannisters send their diss track (it’s fire)
Ducks quaaaack alot
crystal battleaxe is pretty awesome for bulk harvesting of wood
how well does it block and parry compared to an iron buckler?
About half as well. With adequate health, it's still enough to parry aboms
so i'll probably invest in a silver shield and a single handed weapon too
Wait, I was thinking of iron battleaxe sorry
Crystal battleaxe parries 80 at 0 skill without considering health, while maxed out buckler parries 100
So one of the things I really like about battleaxes- that secondary attack is quick and is good for giving some distance between you and some enemies. It’s a fun playstyle imo, highly recommend!
You could parry a stone golem with ~100 health with a cbaxe
i do go long periods away from my main base, and usually have a backup so I don't wind up weaponless. Though, I have been using bows more often
Valheim is so strange because the combat feels fluid and clunky at the same time
There is an upcoming smaller update that improves combat, like fighting in slopes. No date yet tho.
Finally im done with my ashlands base
the only thing i find really annoying about combat is when things are at different levels... like trying to hit anything with a spear just slightly lower than you are
Spear hitbox makes it easier to hit enemies slightly above you.
it's weird, because I can take a broom handle and poke my floor and ceiling just fine
If something is below you, use an attack with a lower hitbox such as a mace/sword secondary. You can also try to position yourself differently by moving over or around the enemy.
think about that statement for a moment.. if something is slightly lower than you, carry around and switch to another weapon to deal with it.
does that sound like anything other than a very annoying inconvenience?
Well, like I said above, the update will improve combat mechanics which includes slope combat.
why cant i find dverger noises on youtube :(
they make such funny little sounds and are my only friends in Valheim
Not really, you just need to consider the height of your attack hitbox and enemy collision. You’re likely already carrying at least two weapons because of enemy weaknesses and resistances, so you should have a good variety of attacks to use.
Spear secondary is a projectile so it can hit enemies at any height offset
and if you need two for weaknesses, you need double or triple to handle weaknesses of enemies at different heights. This is not at all intuitive, it's the worst thing about the combat
And its why the devs are making an update to it calm down
telling me or the other guy to calm down? I said it was annoying. That's all
Valheim was fun until I reached swamp and how bad my world seed is 😭
And why is the raft the only early game option. I'm gonna grow old before I get anywhere
Have you defeated the 2nd boss?
Have you made bronze nails?
You'll grow old before you reach the swamp my guy...
What do bronze nails do?
No way...
How the hell should I have known
@steel mica nothing happend
I just unlocked a cart
Do you have a bronze axe?
😭
Here is the recipe for the karve aka boat
Finewood + bronze nails
You need a bronze axe to get finewood from the birch trees or oak trees
After you get the finewood you should get the option to make the karve
the real first boat of valheim
The raft is for lols
Thank you 🙏

Wow, actively using mounts for the first time makes me realize something...the mounts system is kind of bad. I can't attack with ranged-based weapons without being forcefully dismounted, I can't control when my mount attacks, and healing them is kind of a pain. They don't even get armor. My lox has 1k health and that gets torn to shreds from late-game mobs.
Yeah, not sure why mounted combat/riding was (and kinda still is) so heavily requested 🤔
Personally I think even with all the potential tweaking, it would still be underwhelming.
potential stupid question alert, and I am going to mark it as spoiler because it is relating to the latest zone.
|| are the amount of flametal spires limited for each world? just curious if any new ones ever spawn, or if I will need to make a new server to go find more flametal on ||
I don't see how mounted combat could be interesting unless we're given much more precise control on our mounts movement. They're so big that dodging anything with the movement now is pretty much impossible, and that's without trying to fight another enemy.
Theres a limited amount but its alot of flametal for you to use
I feel like it could benefit from taking a bit from other games. Namely, Don't Starve Together has an excellent system for mounts. Mounts here could benefit from having their own attacks with weapons sheathed, being able to attack with ranged or magic weapons while mounted and not getting dismounted, mount armor, saddles with different benefits, and a mount-based ointment for quicker healing.
I'd 100% take an asksvin into combat as a battle mount if I could fight alongside it.
One time spawns correct
If you’re fighting alongside the Asksvin, it’s no longer a mount 👀
I don’t know, I think mounted combat is on of those things that has to be considered from the very beginning of the game, and that was simply not the case for Valheim.
Mounts can’t jump so what is even the point
Almost every enemy in the game cant jump
Seeker an exception since they can both fly and crawl
Many enemies have unused jump animations
Atleast the ability to attack while riding would be cool
Blobs and oozers can actually jump, flying is a separate thing
That’s an attack animation like knife secondary
Hope tames get more use other than just defending, resources, and traveling
What more do you need?
ive been going back and forth between my karve and longship to see what i like better in general
i have over 200 hours in the game.. first time i seen a sea serpent was today.. ran into three
They only spawn ||at night and/or during storms in fully ocean chunks||
i figyred something like that
Karve is nice for exploring, as it's easier to turn; making exploration of waterways going in a landmass a lot easier.
Longship is nice to haul large amounts of goodies over long distances; which makes it a lot more suitable to build an outpost somewhere.
i busted a full silver vein, shoved it all into a karve.. but had I had the longship with me, I'd have probably stuck around a bit longer, and gotten a few of those veins
i'm making it a point to go no-shield for the mountain biome
to see how the other half lives
using crystal battleaxe and a silver knife
I need to use the crystal battle axe more, too.
anyone thinking about starting a valheim server
I will start a 3rd server in 2 months or so 🙂 I already have 2 haha (try to find one near where you live and in your active timezone) and #1024264966712340510 is always a good place to look
nah.. i stopped trying to co op this game with others
they always get bored and play other stuff and leave me stranded
Thats the thing about this game
The game is really grindy and it can get boring especially for people not really into survival games
I enjoy survival games because I can just do whatever I want with the game mechanics
Yeah, the grindiness does make people get bored of it a lot, when it takes 20 hours to prepare for the next boss, and there is 8 biome, most people I've started games with have tapped out just after the swamp, which is why I never got much further
The content beyond swamp will be worth it
keep grinding and take breaks if needed
You can always come back and your world will be waiting
I got to the swamp a couple times about 2 yrs ago and when the last group fell apart i quit playing until about 2 months ago and I'm early into mistland now, it's a lot of fun to play through at my own pace
how do serpent spawns work? my friend and i encounter them constantly while sailing. we just encountered two at the same time, and right after killling them a third one showed up 😭
The spawn at night ( despawns in the morning) and during storms (won't despawn)
we're drowning in stew
Be glad about it. It's one of the most powerful foods up to Mistland. And one you really can use when fighting bosses.
i want to scream every time we encounter one. these waters are infested
So don't sail at night and you won't encounter them.
also we did just kill the plains boss, so the stew won't even be that useful anymore
kinda hard to do when trips can span multiple ingame days
i'm just confused cuz i thought these things were supposed to be rare 🥲
A lot of folks would be jealous you’re seeing so many
RNG can be a funny thing!
RNGesus antics
I'm totes jelly; Serpents hide from me.
Once you get access to a longship it feels so worth it to hunt every serpent you see
its practically a free plains tier food
it's even better than plains tier
so... if i just started mistland i prolly shoulda started hunting serpents a while ago? lol
HHS
Not worth it once you're in mistlands
by the time you get a handful of serpent meat, you could have used that time to explore the mistlands and get access to better food all together
they become super quick to kill with bows by the time you're in plains, at least with 2 players. and we don't even have to seek them out lol
I just want serpent trophies for bait 😭
I've never killed a serpent yet lol
You can outsail them in many cases.
Playing solo Very Hard run. I had tried nomap but it's too frustrating - there just aren't enough visible constellations/etc for effective star navigation and my left-brain ass just can't figure out how to navigate via the world tree.
At one point some friends did nomap + noportals + permadeath and that's just masochistic
I think it's a matter of making landmarks when sailing to point your way, alongside following the stars & tree. I wouldn't know, though. That does sound masochistic.
Ah, nothing like trying to navigate the ashlands a short distance to a portal, and look...2 charred twitchers. And they around 15 mobs come out from behind a rock and start attacking all at once. So glad I got that mod for planting everything. Now I can use a little vineberry area to farm the ashland plants without getting harassed. (Seriously, what's up with these uncapped spawn rates?)
Agreed, I actually make the grind easier for myself these days. Eventually I'll make it to the Ashland before restarting lol
I just keep finding cool new seeds with picturesque base locations
I recommend, it's a good weapon. #memes-and-clips message
i need to play valheim. but i can't afford it. its too costly in india.
They're not uncapped, that would be insane.
Yeah, fighting is just kinda loud and attracts newer spawns, often from undealt-with spawners
Arbalest/ ||Ripper|| , my beloved. Beeing able to snipe spawners in ashlands outside their spawning range is just too worth it
crossbow is not the only thing that can do that
I know, it just feels easier tho (and i dont use bows that much cuz they break the balance of the game entirely)
Hey r there any servers where people actually play I don't wanna stay alone
There's still a mob zone limit so it'll never get too hectic.
You could try looking in #1024264966712340510
If its a constant flow instead of seperate bulks i could still see it beeing overwhelming for some
Literally the same as any other biome. Has to be, it's the same spawn engine.
Eh, i'd say with a ||Morgen|| and a ||Fallen Valkyrie|| each per square meter it'd be a bit more challenging
You'd basically never get to be able to get rid of the small crawleys with all the big creatures breathing down your neck unless you turn and fight every ten or so metres
hey does someone know how do i use the commands like /e or something
were are you guys from
Basic commands like emotes etc can be done in the chat window, otherwise you'll need to enable the console. There's a good guide here: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Developer_console
good
🐷
which country?
EU
Australia
I am playing Valheim quite often, I run a server community
good is that like RP server
i like to play valheim but i have no money to buy valheim. in india valheim is too costly. i can't afford that much money. so i won't play till now.
Hello Indian Steve
might be on sale still
Yep still is
still costly
hii
games are a lot more expensive in Australia then some other places too, but the wages also higher which is not so much a thing in india, we have 1-2 indians in the community too usually
i really should find me something better than wood arrows. I'm just not really willing to use finite resources on them like metals
maybe needles when I get to plains biome
the Indian their are live in city. i think. but am on villages side. here there is no wifi provider. am using mobile data
I usually just use the ones from chests (flint, iron, poison) and once i get to mountains i make obsidian ones 🙂
yeah.. obsidian is finite though
But you cant really use it for much other than that 🙂
true.. it's used for the tool shelf and that's about it
1 workbench upgrade and other than that arrows
You should’ve progressed to plains for needle arrows by the time you run out of obsidian
but also here wifi is expensive more than ₹600 per month
I've also been holding off on building a really large base until I get to plains
nobody is going to buy it for you
i am not asking to buy it for me. 🤣
it definitely sounds like you're pandhandling to me as you've been going on for a couple days now complaining about not being able to afford it
Only one day 😉
today, yesterday
Meh, we are probably in different timezones then, their first message is from 8:36 today for me
The thing about mountain is that its not that accessable compared to plains which you can just go in all willy nilly, the mountain requires frost res potion making campire trails will work but limits your movement, by the time I get to mountain I was already exploring my nearby plains biome scouting it out and getting needles for needle arrow
I'm fairly sure this is in jest but I've just seen someone complain that the coin pile only contains 44 coins but costs 99.
So it's like banking, you deposit 99 but only get 44 back.
yeah they counted the picture of the 3d ingame object coins that costs 99 to place, and you get 99 back, its a technicality lol
it probably looks better that way instead of the piles actually really containing 99 or 999 coins
#screenshots message @still wharf Seems like you've found one of the highest possible mountains that can generate, seemingly the "Hook" mountain, which can be even over 450m high.
Was just looking at that- very cool find!
Yeah and it was like 80 degrees steep, highest mountain i've ever seen
the weird thing about mountains is i'm not even sure I want to get fenris armor because I might just go back to root armor for plains biome
Have full set is nice for exploration
What’s root armor do again
Improved archery with a full set. But the pieces also offer poison and piercing resistance
Deathsquitos and often fulings will do piercing damage
You only need 6 wolf hide, 1 wolf trophy, and some silver to make a wolf cape
The cape alone will keep you warm
But you do need to find silver to make that cape
Also giving you weakness to fire 😉
Which can be overridden by either being wet or consuming Barley wine.
That's a lot of 1️⃣s.
0!
yo i just watched ur vid you're like the best valheim player ever
anyways lox cape is superior
You need less stuf for it 😄
No way, wolf cape is superior simply for the fashion factor
too thin for my tastes but i suppose it does give you a friend if you dont got none
guy upgrades capes
☝️
What day are you guys on?
On my my most recent playthrough I’m at 400, I think my main world is like 900 something 🤔
Something near 1,400 on my current world
Hi guys, is there a valheim server I can play with you guys on here?
Should be something to suit in #1024264966712340510
What is the best armor to wear when doing base maintenance? I want to be light and mobile but still be ready to fight.
And Fader
Yeah it's really broken
Also, does anyone actually wear Hildir's tunics/dresses?
I do when farming and building
I always forget to put on the farming outfit when I stop by my farm.
Nope, I just don’t find them worth it. I do wear the harvest set though for farming, if you count that.
If your base is in or near plains you might want to include a root harnesk in the armour you wear. Rest could be troll/fenris for movement (or nekkid, go team nopants!), possible a hildir hat to reduce stamina usage depending on the food you have running.
I wonder, what's the point of Linen Capes?
Fashion statements, got to look good when you die young.
Depends on the stage you're at in the game, if you've discovered Hildir... it really depends a lot.
I make a black one to go with my Fenris set, don't need to double up on the cold resist. I keep my lox cape with my padded armor set.
I use the feather one for that to get that whole batman gliding vibe going.
Sure, but that's only after I get further into the Mistlands 😛 Initially the black linen is nice. It's also nice to have like, a red cape when playing with others, it makes it easier to see your compatriots.
Hey guys, I have a problem with my friend joining and it keeps saying failed to connect. Please help
hello new here just hit the bronze age the boss wiped my ass the vines bounced me like a bumper pool ball into a boss thorn attack
anyone want to play and chat it up ?
What food and armor do you have?
As for this, #1024264966712340510
Anyone free to lend a hand I’m kinda stuck in lava
Are there any particular tips for finding seeker soldiers? Me and a friend spent 2 hours covering mistland areas, but not a single soldier dropped a trophy
If you’ve done a bunch of infested mines with soldiers in them, you can revisit the mines and farm them that way
Idk how long it takes for the enemies in infested mines to respawn tho
To find soldiers in the open world though you wanna be exploring the big valleys
Trophy drop rate is 5% I think so you’re gonna be grinding either way
The big pillars around the summoning altar... use them for cover.
Sheesh that's tough, 5%? Sounds like a grind for sure. Just trying to collect a queen trophy for our trophy room
Honestly just go somewhere completely new and find another queen location and kill her there
Like if you went to the eastern mistlands go to the western mistlands
Do I not still need the three trophies to spawn her? It was a while since I killed her originally so cannot remember
No
Okay thanks, that's handy to know
Each infested citadel has its own queen to fight so you dont have to re-summon her
as for getting soldier trophies, its worth it to mark them and revisit the open valley location just what scales said if your doing soldier hunting
looks like I'll be spending more time in the swamp
i'm just going to start stock piling ore for my main base.. I'm no longer doing that thing where I build forges at each location for making weapons
any info about when the deep north biome is gonna be added?
zero info on when
:/
It's strange, but I kind of want to keep upgrading the Silver Sword I made a while ago. I only got it to Quality 3. But I ran out of silver. Does it compare to the Mistwalker and Nidhögg (plus variants)?
The silver sword will deal more damage than mistwalker against charred and valkyries while costing less stamina, but you won't want to use it against anything else.
Mistwalker is very nice for morgens
I love valheim
I randomly wonder if there's a mod out there that gives you increasingly drunken vision for each mead on cooldown.
if we take the weapons at its max upgrade ^ what blobi said, but in the ashlands whilst the nidhogg with lolite gem on it is better in dmg the mistwalker is generally a good all rounder
Drink them all and unplug your monitor
The mistwalker is kinda of like the frostner but for ashlands
Strange question. When looking at the Megingjord, does anyone else happen to think, "Shut up, Megingjord."?
Anybody else love the bog witch ❤️
She's creepy and knows a fair bit about alchemy & cooking. Of course I do.
luckily after Swamp, the need for iron diminishes down greatly to just building base upgrades, and maybe supported structures if you need them. I sailed like 80 iron ingots back and should be good for a while now
thatr obliterator is a thing of beauty
the game definitely needed soemthing more than a deep hole to throw junk
You're gonna need more once you get into plains
and eventually mistlands
maybe, but 80 pieces only needing a couple more shop upgrades is fine for now
yeah, padded armor will require it
chances are I won't even get that armor
i save a lot of resources by sticking with light armor sets
Ah, nothing like trying to mine some copper, and 4-6 greydwarves come rushing at me with every attempted swing. I know that mobs are attracted to noise, but can't they just...piss off?
Check the nearby area for a nest
I generally only get greydwarf attacks like twice per day in game
Also, mods might be at fault
Place torches all around
or when I am just in my base looking through containers, and I hear something smacking something outside.. i go outside, kill it, walk back in to pick up where i left off, now a neck is chewing on my boat
sometimes i have a swarm of em outside my base, i'm like wtf did you guys come from
i really need to go tame some wolves for perimeter control
or they run into my house and i'm like.. who invited you?
or i'm fighting a rock golem, and a drake and some wolves show up and i'm like "i'm not your mom, only one at a time"
i got a little wall they gotta climb to get in my base but every once in a while once sneaks in somehow lol
i should make walls
weird thing though.. doing the elder fight, some deathsquito sniped me out of nowhere.. turns out there was a tiny, tiny fraction of plains uncovered on the edge of the map
i got caught by packs a wolves a few times while in a corner mining the silver
i like it when I face tank a star level troll and some grayling runs up like he didn't just see what happened
nekkid corpse runs through plains with just a bow is fun
naked run through the mountains just reminds me of going out for the male in January barefoot and in my boxers
i learnt to use pots for those, they didn't end very well often
neighbor is like "dude, are you barefoot? there's like 12 inches of snow out here" and I look down and I'm like "yup"
kicking through it like it's the sand of a warm beach
or i get to the swamp and I'm like hmm, so this is what Louisianna looks like
i'd build in the swamp if it wasn't for the constant wet debuff
ya swamp looks like a crappy place to build
mobs ain't too bad once you have gear for it, tree houses are fun too
i got a base on my starter island, mostly in black forest, some meadows and on the edge of the swamp
there's also plains and mountain really close
there's a tiny strip of swamp on the other side of the island from my base.. but nothing there, not even a crypt
i had to sail around and found a bigger one
oh ya i found a few of those, that was kinda disapointed
i found the location of elder early enough, but he is on another island too.. and now I have to go to a fourth island for moder
halfway there I found something important and changed plans
the first time i built a boat was to get to moder lol
i taught raids only happened at base... i'm trying to explore and get closer to queen and i just landed on a plains that's not too far away and got swarmed by a couple dozen wolves, and then the fuling village and lox got involved... all while i was trying to put a portal down
If I am taking a peak into a new biome, I tend to look for a safer one adjacent to it
ya that's why i landed in the plains lol trying to explore more into mistlands
My elder boss spawn is near a plains area I haven't explored yet, that'd be where I am going to look first
At least plains looks like it's less mining for resources and more fighting for them
I kinda like the plains, the terrain in mountains is a pain, and seems mistland like crappy terrain too
Plains is where I'll probably build a bigger new base
I'm pretty sick and tired of necks and graylings
I've died a LOT in mistlands, i'm mildly annoyed but it's still pretty fun, i love the game
I think Imma go get ready to kill modern. I have a draugr fang, Crystal battle-axe, root armor is fine if I don't get hit
moder's the only boss i killed on the first try
Got fire arrows?
Moder seems like a primarily ranged fight, really.
i have obsidian arrows
well I finally got my portal up at the spot i landed in the plains, got 46 wolf meats in the process lol
i killed my first 2 serpents on the way there, it's been a great adventure today
You wont be getting anymore fresh air once you land
We have a whole base with a pretty roof and a hearth
Just me and my brother
i taught multiplayer mode ended at swamp 🤔
His wife plays too but she keeps to the meadows, smelting ore and cooking and tending to the animals
I love how flat the Ashlands are
Huh? Why would you think that?
Multiplayer doesnt end, its just that players dont like the swamp because of the ramp up of in difficulty so thats why most valheim players quit even in multiplayer
lol ya seems so, personally I think mistland is quite a bit steeper a ramp up tho
i love the game cuz of it tho
Its the 2nd hardest biome so difficulty will go up
is there no concept of a timeframe at all for a deep north or combat update
No, but then you know this.
Perfection takes time. I'm sure the developers will make something they're absolutely proud of, and I'm all for it.
I don't think anyone was suggesting otherwise.
I assumed Ronnie was.
No? Just after a release date.
Valheim is among one of the very few games that I would call a masterpiece. I can't wait to see how they finish our journey off, so we may see the halls of Valhalla at long last.
In due time travellers, in due time
Again, think we're all agreed on that.
😄 cat gif haha
What if Valhalla ends up having its own celebratory biome as we walk the path to victory?
🤔 yea i mean i hope they do something pretty special for the ending
imagine posting gifs
I can't see it being more than a cut scene but I could be wrong.
maybe not a full biome, but at least something to celebrate in with odin or w/e
drink some mead etc
Maybe some hunky male vikings waiting for me...
I feel like those stones from the start will be the portal to Valhalla. It only seems fitting that our journey ends where it began.
oh, I guess it wasnt funny, what I said
Makes sense. Hanging the final boss trophy creates a portal at the sacrificial stones and going through it takes you to Valhalla but those people that want to carry on building and stuff can just not go through it.
I wonder why crossbows are introduced so late into the game? And why they give so little experience per bolt strike. I've tested the difference between 0 and 100, and that reload speed is very noticable.
I feel like experience in combat skills should come from damage done and not actions per. Perhaps the combat update may address that. Or not. We will see.
Yea
Bow also gives more exp per hit than the crossbow does
Which is completely backwards
An earlier crossbow, perhaps in the mountains using the fenris claws in the recipe would be nice
Hildir update is pointless - why will i equip something that has 0 on armour basically - why couldnt it be a cosmetic piece that applies to your current armour plus give a bonus to it? Not that hard Devs
It was an ordeal getting to moder, dang mountain is surrounded almost entirely by plains
I found hildir on my way to moder. Only thing I was interested in buying was the iron pits
Though, I doubt I'll ever actually use those over the hearth
The hardest part is the foggy area
Its nice decorations and fire last for a long time
The definition of a side quest
The farming items are nice at least
Plus, the hildir clothing reduces stamina use when building
Eat some good food why should i have something useless in my inventory just for building, eh waste of an update just like their roadmap on the games release
The road map that hasn't been a thing since May 2021? Oh dear.
Its a good example of how useless an update is compared to how useless their road map was to how useless it was having a month party to buying a donkey xD
They sponsored a horse. In a sanctuary.
Want to keep making things up or can we stop now?
It's best this conversation ends.
Oh, definitely.
Suit yourself 😂
Going through food stocks versus a permanent clothing buff. Doesn't SEEM like much of a choice but there you go.
Just finished delivering Hildir's final chest, was a mission but a good one
Depends entirely on the weather I think
I ask because my brother was building a dock at our southernmost base in preparation for going to the Ashlands
The entire time we’ve been there though, the waves have been massive
Yeah, weather isn't affected by distance. The only exception is right on the edge of the world.
That's more likely happening because that dock was build close to the border with the Ocean.
Build it a bit further away and the waves will be a lot smaller. Or non-existent.
Yeah it occurs to me now that the dock is our biggest and longest yet, since it was made to accommodate the biggest boat
Anyone uses Storm fang? Is it worth it?
Storm Fang is pretty powerful, I’d say it’s worth it.
Playing my solo Very Hard runthrough. Entering the swamps... accidentally engaged 2 star Draugr archer. Bastard chased me across a whole continent , I felt like I was being hunted by Predator. Eventually my luck ran out and he 1 shotted me.
He frickin got me again
And that's why I don't play a game like Valheim on any difficulty other than normal. I'd be crashing out XD
On Normal difficulty the combat feels too easy
Fair enough lol
It’s funny you mention that, I was actually just thinking yesterday that it might be time for me to crank up the difficulty for myself 🤔
Tried hard?
I might aswell crank up the difficulty aswell
Very hard = easy 😏
Wooooooo Valheim! 🥳
I'm excited to try it again
The game remains easy if you dont lose your gear
so just craft a second set 😏
i tried the difficulty higher, it was fun, honestly it gets boring and i miss playing the game normally. it’s just a different game, very hard negates parrying, blocking, stagger, health food, and armor because you just die. most people i see doing very hard arent playing valheim theyre playing “wuss with a bow on exploited terrain”. the game knows what it’s doing. it can still kill you easy on normal. hit your first 2 star wolf and tell me the combat is easy.
I rather run around the world naked with just the best weapon and tools I have
i do see a lot of exploitative tactics being used.. like building a pillar of ground to hide behind or on top of.. meh
yeah its stupid. just play the game its fun
if only valheim had proper difficulty settings
perhaps all content wouldn't get nerfed then 😔
? what would be “proper” compared to what exists?
Something more than just number changes
i thought the world settings were pretty elaborate
oh like quantity of spawned enemies and studf yeah thatd be fun
New attacks, animations, if you've ever played v risings brutal mode, something like that
#suggestion-discussion message been awhile since we’ve had a talk about this 🤔
Terraria expert mode is another example of a really well-done difficulty option
Even like changing enemy AI would be a good step in the right direction, changing seekers to have wolf AI (Like they originally used to have) would be awesome
They should have wolf AI on normal. Change it to circling AI for easier difficulties.
Yea i mean, it was partially because I was still learning the biome, but seekers on the ptb were a MENACE
I kind of wish there was a hard mode like fallout 4 hard mode. not just harder combat but harder survival aspects too
Wishful thinking, but what if the combat update introduces an enhanced difficulty mode 👀
Highly doubt it
Robin has specifically said they only intend on balancing normal and focusing on normal mode
I still remember my first death in PTB Mistlands. I got cornered by multiple wolf AI seekers in my first Infested mine.
Never got to experience those seekers for myself unfortunately
mines can be WAY overpowered if they layout is just so and you run into soldiers plus seekers with stars you get stuck and out of stamina REAL fast, UNLESS you have a god hammer and or fire bombs
A way to reward players, actual difficult enemies, and just a spike in difficulty
oh speaking of, was there any hinting to what they are changing in the combat other than swing elevation?
There was that one video from Spazzy how to download the certain version of the game, kinda might want to try the game before H&H.
some of the combat is clunky and odd, but I kind of love it, like getting good at leaving multiple enemies with one handed sword
Spoiler alert, it wasn't that bad, squitoes only punished people because they were using meadows food in the plains
Difficulty was highly exaggerated because people were still learning the game
Nothing else yet other than new ||armor set||, maybe ||fists(?)|| and ||target|| for ranged.
Squitoes' damage was nerfed at one point iirc.
i know they scaled back desthsquito damage and ashlands spawns but im not aware of other nerfs where earlier versions would be easier or harder-oh actually they changed combat once introducing “stagger” some hate it but i like how it works
i guess it would be “easier” before stagger exists
“Fortune and glory, kid”
yes, but still, wasn't that bad
Mistlands was nerfed
Seekers more specifically.
Gjall
At one point yes, but reverted.
Spawn rates too
Not back to original
i would love it if axes got tweaked. like make 1 hand axe have any benefit, increased stagger or anything. sword has cleave if you’re good, mace hits everyone no matter what but reduces damage, axe should have something
They changed the visuals so the projectiles are more clear to see.
oh right, they reduced soldier and gjall spawns to be more similar to troll spawns in forest so theres less
Don't recall too much difference tbh.
2 handed axes stagger well and have "cleave".
I'm at work but I'm pretty sure I have a buddy that had video comparisons of gjall timings
hehe OH YEAH they do, i once used a crystal axe into ashlands even its my favorite weapon
but the 1 hander is literally worse in every way than everything else
like the only reason to use a one-handed axe is to start building your axe skill so you can use the two handed one better
I think that's intended for 1h axe to be bad, it's a tool and a weapon
I personally like them too. Hopefully they add more to later biomes and tweak movement speed penalty in upcoming update.
ok but WANTS a weapon. am viking.
Fingers crossed 😭
im fine with the 2 handers having move speed penalty, it’s a come and get it weapon
-20% in them vs -5% in atgeirs and 2h swords.
i pace around waiting for enemies to ball up good enough the jump-SWING CRIT bye byeeee
yeah i know, it think 20 is fine, dont need to move fast, just wait patiently for them to come
big slow beefy boy role play why should i be fast holding that monster
-10% would be good for those 2h weapons IMO.
but it FEELS like I do more damage when I’m slow 😅
oh also two handed swords need to cleave like axes do. when you’re good at cleaving one-handed swords for full damage it just feels so bad to use a two hand.
Oh yeah, them 2 handers should have and 1 handers shouldn't.
I will be severely disappointed if 2 hander swords still suffer from mtp post combat update
#suggestions message Shameless insert
I agree, one handed swords probably SHOULD change, their current cleave is so odd, but personally I enjoy playing with it, feels good to line up those perfect cleave swings
like a minigame skill cap thing
sword should be a thrust, with a bleed maybe
What do you mean? 🤔
the secondary attack
Both versions of the sword are currently thrusts, aren’t they?
There is no bleed mechanic in this game.
Reminds me of how Dragonwilds did the secondary for 2h swords. Straight up spin attack. Great for a little crowd control. But alas, atgiers already have that.
What if the secondary for 2h swords was a leaping chop forward? Put in all your might to cleave your target in half.
I like the secondary for gs 😢
I don’t know, I think the attacks are fine 🤔
The thrust is cool, and it works.
We already have that for knives
Eh...I guess I personally find it a bit boring that both sword types have more or less the same secondary.
Could be worse, a melee weapon could only have one attack and no combo

Indeed. Runescape-style.
They could have a bit variety maybe, but I don't mind, I prefer 2h swords over 1h personally.
Like how differently 1h, 2h and dual axes perform.
We already have sledgehammers and pickaxes that do this
And
That’s what I was implying, but alas no sledge emoji 😢
:stagbreaker:
NOT THE SMIFFE HAMMER!!!!!
My viking life is complete as of last night. I found some special rocks and proceeded to draw faces on them. I am now the proud owner of TWO pet rocks.
dang.. i walked into a fuhling village, was thinking.. aah, there's like only 4 left, triggered one, and about 15 more ran out behind them
but the village was right on the edge of the mountains too, there was a large rock jutting out over top of part of the village. I got the huntsman bow and started picking some off.. if one didn't die and ran up to where i was, i just pushed him off
The joys of atgiers. Secondary & make a quick escape.
well sniping them with the huntsman bow i was able to either pick one off without aggroing the rest, or getting a single one to run up to my hiding spot
deathsquitos are nothing to me
Surprised you don't have the Draugr Fang. That thing's nice.
i do, but if I hit one with a draugr fang, like 12 fuhlings are triggered instead of just the one i hit
Ah, the noise.
yeah.. when i thought i had gotten all of them, i hit a few key spots with the draugr fang to trigger any remaining
since i was perched on a little edge, they didn't really have space to run around me without falling off.. if there was more than one I'd just bump it off with the secondary attack from the crystal battleaxe
I can't wait till moder is done, I'm already getting a lot of black metal. Dang boss just happened to be surrounded by plains
ROCKY IS HERE!!!

The trees sometimes drop normal wood
yeah, trees give me wood all the time
is there some community here that does commisions for builds
Not sure, but you may give this channel: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202313747197345873 try.
Otherwise you could ask around in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 as well.
Anyone want to start a world?
pulling mobs around corners into an atgeir swipe or wild staff root wacking them all is the best
That Wild Staff goes to town on destroying armies. I love to mass spawn them when the charred army inevitable spawns.
nice, found a stone skeleton tower pretty close to moder.. turned it into my spawn point
tomorrow, she dies
I wish if you were with friends on a boat you could all pitch in and row increasing the speed of the boat
Thats how vikings used to sail
@steel mica you’ve inspired me to go on a hunt for a 2 star Asksvin on my current world. I could technically bring an egg over from my main world, but I find no glory in that
Get ready to spend 50 hours going out every night
I recommand going mage and melee hybrid
I recommend not engaging with the tame system at all 😏
My god finally ive completed one side of my mistland base' perimeter wall
Making bases takes awhile
Man I wish Asksvin still spawned in groups of 3
I wish seekers had wolf ai and didnt jib jab and walk around
😔
Remember when 'they sought you out' wasnt a cake walk of 2 bugs and some babies
Kinda crazy ppl complained about that destroying bases but fuling shaman and gjall nukes your base from range
🤙
That would be a nightmare
It was just one more dinosaur was really manageable

Reverting their group to 3 but changing their faction to "Animal" instead of "Demon".
So it would make sense for the asksvin skeletons around the volture nests and outside and inside Putrid holes.
Yea it be like that
Reason 276 for why magic is so OP in this game 😂
Noooooooooooooooo 😭😭😭
I literally wanted a soldier in that raid!!!
You telling me they nerfed it???
Incredibly sad Sildar noises
starts a petition to bring back the seeker soldier
The fortresses are fine if you go in carefully and pick off enemies
but overkill solution is the trollstav
Yeah, it was nerfed during PTB, it originally spawned soldier(s) and could happen in Meadows too.
Would be great if it was reverted, since 1. now we have world modifiers and 2. for example fuling horde raid also spawn big fellas.
I just want some other ranged options that preferably don't require me running back to base for refills
Youll get it once you reach the biome after plains
Well, I will be at the plains soon. Already fully raided a village, got a totem, and some barley
Not a fan of the fang spear?
For the resources they cost, it's not worth throwing them longer distances. They won't kill a berserker, then you got nothing. Or throw one at a Drake, if you miss it lands two biomes over
The fang spear is pretty good
Ive used it all the way through plains
The fast attack is really nice
You went through the mountains without a bow?
I used huntsman
No need for bow or spear 😄 you have your hands
Just throw hands
Exactly. It don't matter what your main weapon is, mountains basically require bows
I once did go through the mountains with just a fang spear after I defeated moder trying to get home
my only weapon was the fang spear against drakes
It'd be nice if drakes were switched a bit. Maybe they lose altitude when parried, or occasionally try to bite or scratch up close
They're worse than cliff racers
Most creatures in the game have more than one attack already
Jo all
There is no kill like the overkill 😂
drops a nuke on Ashlands
This needs to be added to the game!
There is an animation for vultures on the ground too right?
I'll check now...
They continue playing their flying animation even when they're not flying
Aaaaw 🙈
Do you still need to create a new save after an update nowadays?
Wondering if it's the right choice to start a new playthrough now, since I miss this game; or wait for Deep North update..
Nope, never had to if you didnt explore most of the unfinished biomes 🙂
Also, before Deep North there will be one more update, so i would wait at least for that maybe, since for both of those updates we only know that they "will not be out anytime soon"
do one now
Hmm, do we know what this update will be about?
If a developer is saying so.. 🤣🤣
Have you read to the end of that message? 😄
xD
Then I guess I'll wait a few more days so my friend gets a new GPU, that way I can invite her, and 2 other friends to play with 😎
since i started playing literally at most i only ever made a finewood bow and brought it on boat rides in case a serpent attacked because so many people on the server were cheesing with bows on platforms or terraformed mounds so out of spite i never used a bow for combat. but that made me get really good at spears for hunting and air. if your spear skill is high enough you can 1shot drakes sometimes, or throw 2 spears in one pass. they’re also op for gjall. early game spears are awesome too you can just take out 3 deer in a pack at once. highly recommend giving spears a try. especially since they’re fixing the elevation stuff soon supposedly
Do one now, then another when DN is there.
Then do a challenge run and spiral into madness
Fist only
No map no metal go
I’ve been considering doing a no map playthrough 🤔
No GPU
Imagine if no map meant literally there was no world.
Nomadic no map no portal is fun for me. No map can be challenging enough on first go
She has a Pentium Gold xD
Water world run. I'm down o7
just looking to get back into this game, anyone interested in playing together on pc? preferably modded
Look no further than #1024264966712340510 😄
thanks just joined this server
Welcome in then 😄
dzieki ziomalu
I’ve been hunting for somebody us based to play modded with for a while lol
im eu based
HIGHLY recommend no map and no portal playthrough, or at least no map. it feels like a different game. i seriously get so much out of no map with immersion and exploration.
oh dang.. yeah...
That’s what I’m looking to get out of it! Still going back and forth on no portals, but I’m leaning towards no 🤔
you can always put portals back in or turn map on if you’re super duper lost
try no-sleep playthrough
True, but the exciting of being lost actually sounds really interesting!
Haha no sleep… also sounds neat 👀
but man… the immersion feelings, sailing using the tree and stars, maybe more RP stuff making roads and markers and signs, its a slower more peaceful play style
I might do a no portal run sometime, that could be fun potentially.
yes! getting lost is awesome! lol, and the feeling of seeing your dock lights in the distance and coming home
The thrill of finding boss altars and traders, sounds so cool!
yup that too, do itttt!
That feeling when you get lost and have to make a whole new base from scratch lmao
sure lol, or what i do is not focus too much on one massive elaborate base, but kind of make mini bases in each new biome, and either nomad completely to it, or just bring stacks of food and gather resources and make one big trip home
i usually nomad to swamps,
then to a long camping trip to mountains, then find one great spot for permanent base before going plains raiding
I’ve known people who did no map and made signposted paths everywhere
its not as hard as you think, just need enough metals for crafting stations, but you can get stone, coal, wood, etc whrever you’re going, just dont waste time going nuts filling 10 chests full of wood on your first base
hehe yeah depends how good your memory is. i made a system with building pieces that point a way and mean a thing
I love how people's solution to no-map runs is to effectively create a map.
ive done that too lol! like cleared a flat space and made a little lincoln log map of what i think the world looks like
or just on a post it note on my desk remembering like… “hit this land mass sail around clockwise, go past the two krakkens, sail counter clockwise around next idland”
Hiya, i just got back to Valheim after a long time and wanted to play a game with some mates. But we wanted to use some easier life mods like massfarming, nothing special. My question is, did something change to get r2modman running for Valheim, what specific mods do i need to use even other mods? Id appreciate some advise. ❤️
Folks in #mods-discussion and #mods-issues will be probably of better help than us here 😄
Also welcome back!
True, sorry. ^^;
No worries 🙂
And ty ofc 😄
Are any achievements planned to be added for this game?
Yep, they're coming with 1.0.
I'm strangely hoping for an achievement for completing the game with a Permadeath character. Or no portals. Or perhaps...all of the challenges at once? Something to get players thinking on how to do it.
No food perma achievement 😎
"True Masochist"
No food, fists only, no map or portals, no bed, no death
no bed really doesn't matter 🤔
No bed means no sleep
If you're doing no food and only fists you don't care about night time spawns
I mean. You kinda should
I'm guessing someone's proposed a night only world modifier at some point.
What I mean is that it's not really an increase in difficulty
More enemies do spawn at night. And it’s harder to see
Again, if you're at the level where you're doing only fists and no food, more mobs doesn't make a difference
Source: Did no food perma
Torches don't get a whole lot of use, it seems. Or maybe that's just me. I do have low-light vision.
I don’t have much trouble seeing at night but it is harder than in the day at least
*Scales 😉
Yes, we definitely need Easter eggs named after community members.
Someone else is actually going for it and I think they can do it so might have to change that 😏
270 hours in the game and have never seen a 2* wolf
"Difficulty Scales High"
Oooh, ok ok 👌
So, pit or wall to protect my base? I feel like if I used a wall, enemies would just keep hitting it, prompting me to stop whatever I am doing and deal with them
2 star wolves only spawn at night wym
If you're doing no food and only fists, starred enemies aren't an increase in difficulty
They're just more hp
Cold debuff is the only downside of night for him
Even then it's really nothing, compared to the other limiting factors proposed, no sleep is just a grain of sand in the beach
No rested buff + cold + wet ftw
The power of walking 😎
Everyone gangsta until the forest starts moving
Everyone gangsta until you get sought out and a seeker soldier comes after you... oh wait 😏
lol true, early game i always have several minutes of rested going, too many times it’s like “you no longer feel r-the forest is moving”
Feelsbad... nerfed into the ground now wolves and fuling raid is more intimidating 😔 🤌
Also the raid music is lame for sought out too
Like first five biomes the raid music increasingly gets more intense and chaotic, and then mistlands and ashlands the raid music just goes back to eikthyr raid music
Sounds like we need to get Jarlestam on that one
And you never will. Unless you stay a night in the Mountain. 2* wolf only spawn at night. Gl taming one hf 😀
Any star wolfs only at night 😉 but one other enemy has only 2 star variant that requires night 😄
gjall! what prize do i win?
I wish there was a zombie tower defense game like 7 days to die but with valheim building system
There’s a similar game in early access atm kind of
is the game still beta?
Not since 2021
When's the deep north coming out? It's been a while, i wanna continue my playthrough again with more stuff to do. Are there any release dates or at least "promises"?
"Not anytime soon"
😐
Plenty of other great games out there to play while we wait
nope
Well i kinda do wanna play Valheim instead of something else :D
the devs work on a "it comes out when it comes out" premise. they've been doin' teasers with the adventure of someone (haven't been rlly following it)
Have you done a challenge run?
a modded run perhaps
Yeah, but it just puts me into a limbo of "maybe this time I’ll get a few more hours of content if i wait long enough"
Oh indeed, don't get me wrong, i have 740 hours on it. But after such a long time, i wish there was more to it than teasers. I played since 2021, and i sometimes feel like the game hasn't changed too much
Especially with the crazy potential it has
not quite sure what this means
there is a combat update that was mentioned some time ago. i forgot the source where i saw it but im guessin' it may come out this year
It just means that waiting is a gamble, we either get some teaser or an update every few months. And i always hope the update adds something new, i mean the suggestions chat is always full of great ideas - but it's mostly overlooked i'd assume
Ah, sounds a bit more fresh then, any idea what it's gonna add?
from valheim newspage they mentioned an archery target decoration to help you aim
and one of the combat content is new armor and "at last fixing slope fighting"
Well, i'm hoping it's more than that, sounds like things that modders already added in :D
Well i mean i hope it's not gonna be just that of course. Hopefully the weapon roster will be complete for every biome, and the extra armors sounds cool, but i also hope it won't be like 1-2 more. I'm not setting my expectations high ever after the hearth and home update :D
Getting a stupid thought here. End of the game, portal to Valhalla appears in the middle of the sacrificial stones, and we ride the road to Valhalla with a valkyrie...only it's Flappy Bird Valkyrie.
Flappy bird update, coming maybe december 2035
It's a combat update, not a content update. That'll come with Deep North.
Also, Hearth and Home was an amazing patch not sure what the issue was there.
So is it mainly about tweaking damage values and mechanics, or are there any tangible things included with it? Because from what it sounds like after hearing this, it sounds pretty light, especially considering the wait time
all my gear is actually gone
The wait time? We didn't know there was one until a month or so ago.
I mean the wait time for updates like this in general. The slope combat issue has been present since launch, so there’s definitely been plenty of room and reason to address it way earlier than now
what happened champ
far as i know we don't know the answer to that - just that slope combat is getting tweaked and smth for archery practice from the devs rn
I mean considering the little drop we got about it, it's fair to not assume much further than that.
world save didn't save after i got killed and dropped my gear
sorry to hear that. i think it's possible to back up a previous world save, but i wouldn't know how to do that
i was able to back up the character save from before I started
it had some stuff on him I used to build a new portal, but the portal in the backed up world save is already built so I just incinerated the extra items to be fair
Hi, I’m completely new to the game and was hoping to find someone new who would like to join me and have some fun
Welcome! Your chances of finding someone to play with are better in the #1024264966712340510 channel 👍
Oh thanks
The wait times have honestly been fine given the quality of the updates we've then gotten.
no way this is still in the game lol
I dont even know why it happens but for some reason the biome text on the minimap just changes to a larger font
Aww,I don't think I'll be able to use the fuhling village I liberated as a base
You can, I did this on a playthrough and just caged the residents inside their huts 😅
Christ... ashlands is so severe man
yeah it's a relentless onslaught
Even as a solo mage with an undead army and vine summons, it's awful. It's why I've taken to building campfires everywhere I run in it so mobs don't spawn in their radius.
Pro tip, make campfires and even out the ground with a hoe to bury them to lessen the chance a mob breaks them. Won't prevent mobs that damage the terrain, but it'll stop the others.
my first ashlands experience killed me probably 50 times
completely understandable
just punched a golem to death
huge
it helped to haev a frost cave to retreat into to heal
I personally disagree, quality doesn’t mean much when you only get a slice of it once every eternity. And if quality means fixing a day-one issue after 4+ years, then i'd argue the delivery is not on par with the time it took. And sure, i'm no developer, but i hold this opinion firmly, i paid money for the game and i spent a very, very long time on it. I'm sure it's only reasonable of me to expect more.
Well, that specifically is very unreasonable. As a purchaser of an Early Access game you agree to buy the game as is with no expectation of anything else.
truth nuke
Arguing price point doesn't make much sense either ngl, most games are 60 bucks (and only increasing) nowadays and provide far less content
yeah valheim is worth the cost it is
i think i was gifted it though
would definitely gift to a friend though
the problem is your expectations. Expectations are rarely, if ever met by any corporation so it will only lead you to be dissatisfied.
especially since there are a lot of players that are constantly asking about a release date for DN when they know they will only play for 20-30 hours until they beat it and then drop the game again. (nothing wrong with playing this way, its a video game play however you want) but i think the majority of the hardcore player base would rather wait a little bit longer and have a better quality update
i also understand the dev team is not very large, so cant really expect them to just push out an update in what we might deem a "reasonable" time
It has been quite clear from the development timeline of this game that it's going to be slow to update. That's totally fine, IMO. I will say however people are so used to the live service model of game patching (at least ever since Minecraft made it super common) and this is quite different.
The somewhat dissapointing consequence about that though is that it can be difficult to get into the new content if you enjoy these types of games primarily as a multiplayer experience, since you'd have to do an entire run all over again to get to that point
is there a general "guess" as to when deep north is releasing? and will that be the official "1.0 launch"?
No timeline really, there's a combat update that's next, imo deep north in 2025 is HIGHLY optimistic thinking
I promised myself last year that I wouldn't do another playthrough until full release but the itch to play has been overwhelming lately..
Feel like I'm about to relapse now that you say 2025 is too optimistic..
If you can hold out for combat update might be worth
When is that released?
They did?
why can't they just hire more people and I will throw money at them
#news message Yep 🙂
Because then the updates turn out shitty 😄
If you're digging for a game to play I've been playing lens island and it's cool
i paid my 20 bucks for this game and have outs a thousand hours in and still love it so idk what the big deal is that it’s “not done” when my enjoyment is pretty full
Thx
Valheim has a vision, they want people that have similar interests to what they intend for the game
-# That comment is obviously a joke, but the answers still hold true 😄

All fair points.. might just relapse and full send.
Valheim is one of the games ive put so much hours into it without even noticing
Could always spice things up with world modifiers too
i think it would be fine to do another playthrough, you will most likely finish and be able to take another few months break before DN gets finished
I wish too but my god I still have my mistland base and main base at the work
You're not alone, buddy. I know what it's like to feel restless abt that (I'm waiting on Kenshi 2), I personally don't mind waiting and I appreciate the indie part of the game, so I get why it's not pumped out asap, but yeah, doesn't erase concerns and critisisms. 4 years is a long time.
Best company to do EA imo has been v rising
Worst one is 7dtd
I've never played 7dtd but I've been watching a streamer play it on the hardest difficulty perma, and man it really seems like those devs don't even play the game
Maybe #general is better for this
Devs: oh no players are getting inf water, lets remove that and add another feature of getting water, that way they dont get inf water
Its a survival game 😭
100%
I think you got hard baited there
Does anyone else feel like there should be a survival crafting game that either just has far less amount of items and less time spent with inventory management. If only they could combine all the QOL changes into one game. V Rising has a feature to let you move and place chests with the contents inside. The Valheim feature where you can hold E to place items is nice but I think grounded has a feature to auto place everything into nearby chests. Return to Moria has the default to let you craft using any mats in chests in your base. But they all have way too many god damned items. I think Fallout 4 might be one of the worst but there still really doesnt seem to be a game that doesnt go overboard on the sheer amount of different items you pick up
There should just be like meat1,2,3 and ore1,2,3 and leather1,2,3 and thats it. 9 items total
I just started a new playthrough recently. Since 1.0 is two updates away I'd say go for it. You could even decide to get into some mods if you wish.
I actually think Minecraft (finally) has the solution. Don't just stop adding items, new items are always fun. Only having nine items doesn't sound great to me. Find a way to mix stacks like what Mojang has done with the bundle. That way having 20 different flowers of small stacks won't be any different to having a full stack of ONE flower. Having more flowers just gives you more colour and decorating potential. I am just using flowers as an example but there are so much more reasons to have varied items.
Ehh... that's one of the big reasons I stopped playing Minecraft. There's too much stuff to keep track of, I don't want to make it a full time job or have to have another monitor with references open all the time when playing the game.
Inventory management only becomes truly annoying when you're trying to scramble to dropped inventory because you died, you're in a dangerous position, click on it.. and tough shit, you walked vaguely too close to that piece of rock that got knocked over, and that one item in your inventory prevents you from picking up all the rest
the toggled auto pickup is op, when you remember to use it
Why can barely only be grown in the plains. I'm trying to make a medieval village, but I can't reasonably make a bakery or weaver without a means to plant barley or flax in the neighboring fields.
anyone tryna start a world im new\
#1024264966712340510 sorry wrong autocomplete
As a builder yes
Sounds like you learned the hard way
The nearest plains are halfway across the world, and portals don't fit the village design. I could try building a shipping route 🤔
Portals don't fit the village? That'll make playing difficult won't it?
I almost wonder if there should have been a Flametal Atgier, but the Himminafl would probably still outclass it due to the extra lightning damage. I don't think anything resists it.
Might depend
Hypothetical jade flametal atgeir would be really strong
Probably too strong
Right, forgot about the gems. In theory, that would give access to another electric atgier.
Ye, but lightning atgeir would only be 10 lightning (with chance of the chain lightning but) vs himmins 52 or 58 lightning dmg
Atgeir by itself is already pretty strong
adding gems pretty much makes an already busted weapon more busted
Also have to consider deep north
atgeir with frost damage
I strongly suspect jade is gonna outweigh lightning in deep north

Lightning is good for constant crowds of enemies
There may not be many crowds that’s the thing yea
in this case in the ashlands you're getting constantly attack
lightning will be best there
Ye
image a 2-h hammer in ashlands
💀
slap on a gem jade on that bad boy and you got yourself the best crowd control weapon
Also scales is it just me or the leveling up for crossbows feel slow
Ive been using crossbow ever since I got the arbalest
and im still level 27
It is yea
Crossbow gain less xp per hit than bows do
Only way I’ve ever been able to get in the 50s for crossbows without skill farming has been to get the black forge early and mess around with the arbalest all through normal progression
I can't help but think the "metal" of the Deep North is going to be enchanted ice.
I really love the crossbow but the painfully low exp gain is haunting me
because I should be in the level 50s by now
Isn't it 0.6xp per shot, and 1.2xp with rested bonus? Coupled with the slow reload that can only be decreased in time with higher Crossbow levels, that certainly makes it a slow process.
Idk what the exp gain is for crossbow but I can tell its lower than any other skills in the game atm
Looked it up. It's 1xp per shot base. It seems fast, but the slow reload speed makes it a chore at times.
I rarely used bow to the point that its level 7
Crossbows forever. Higher levels make them absolutely lethal.
Anybody on Xbox looking to play rn? Brand new to the game
I did it.. lol. Couldn't help myself.
I only started using the bow when I got to mountain, it's mandatory, otherwise I probably wouldn't. Although, having a mountain ledge right over top of a fuhling village made it easy to just sit up on top and snipe down on them with the huntsman bow
anybody looking to start new save?
Torches still block spawn points?
Yes
you could try making a post in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
Hahah I hope you enjoy dude!
Will I still be able to play the Deep North update when it comes out, on my current world?
Also apologies if this has been asked 1000000 times before
yup, just make sure you don't explore much of the biome before 1.0, explored area could not be able to spawn new content
Okay, that's perfect then. I left the Deep North untouched so far. Cheers
If you want to reveal very little area of DN as possible you could go to the very edge either East or West part of the map incase you want to catch all the fish in game.
oh, just so you know, maybe avoid to build stuff too close up north, people lost entire castles due to terrain regeneration when Ashlands came out (not build in ashlands, but in nearby Mistlands and Black Forests)
It might not be the case anymore unless one builds inside the biome. Terrain changes affected to the Northern border too when Ashlands came out.
oh right, didn't know that
eheh that's still 3rd party ptsd (not my black marble castle) from Ashlands drop
I noticed it quite at the start of PTB when I went to visit the small edge in DN and noticed all trees and boulders in adjacent biomes on air. Luckily I had made the portal on one of the boulders that stood in place.
Mountains that got affected by the forced terrain change looked funny, with those huge pillars with POIs on top and boulders everywhere on air.
for the devs: with the archery target, you wont gain bow experience from it right?
oh yeh, i saw some screenshots of that and wandering how that happened
We don't know the other function of it yet.
At least you can retrieve your ammo from it.
I haven't actually tried fishing in this game, I might give that a go
really hope they dont allow exp....would be really stupid and busted if they do
In case you didn't know, there is one item that requires all ingame fish to craft. There is fish in current DN too which is currently the only "content" in there.
why this game has no auto save just lost 5 hours of progress irons i dig in swamp i only got half
it does have auto save
black out
devblog says "easy way to practice your own skills!", that's all wee know, could be indeed intended as "your personal aiming skills" and not in game skillpoints, still unclear tho
I can see it being useful for practicing your own aiming skills with different ranged weapons. Not only bows and crossbows but spears too.
what if its black out powershortage and pc shutting down it doesnt have
still autosave every 30m or so
ye but when u plug out ur pc
i agree, im just saying i hope the target just doesnt give any skill exp, as you can just spam left click bow and arrow and get to 100 easily, since can do that already lol, target would just give u your arrows back etc
i dint know this b4
bows in this game are just so op lmao
I agree with that, regarding to my bow only perma run.
crossbows dont stand a chance compared to bows lol
yup makes sense, maybe will be nice if skill is given if you get center bullseye and over a damage threshold (you'll be forced to fully draw the bow and "waste" time on it), just speculations/thoughts ofc
imo i wish u would only get bow exp if you did a full draw
That would be actually good alternative option.
yup i meant that, but thinking of it it may be difficult as a mechanic, if based only on damage bow and arrow type can overcome it.. there should be a "programming" way to check if you fully draw, dunno how much that could be messy
Whar should I do before Bonemass to make sure hes easy?
Bring an iron mace and poison resistance mead
You could also kill a serpent for the best health food available to you
Okay
Best foods available, in swamp the best HHS setup is sausages, black soup and muckshake/turnip stew (excluding serpent meat, which is really nice but not necessary to get).
yup, if you have the mats to fully upgrade your
it will be a quite fast fight (still very doable with mace level 1 tho)
Well, if you're buying something that's under construction, you do expect it to be fully built one day, right? Of course, i get it — it’s not like the devs should sign away their freedom just to satisfy my (and the other thousands of people's) impatience. But still, i paid for the game. I think having expectations for an early access title is more than reasonable even if, unfortunately, those expectations are almost never fulfilled these days.
I'm very grateful for everything that has become of this game so far, and i will keep supporting it. But the pace is upsetting, and expecting more of it is more than reasonable.
I have supported several different early access projects and while most start out strong with rapid updates, they all lose steam eventually and time between updates grow longer. It makes total sense, as the game comes closer to completion it grows ever bigger, meaning more care has to be taken when adding new stuff since the reality of software development is that doing one thing you always risk breaking something seemingly unrelated. Doesn't matter if you're adding new content or mechanics, or fixing bugs, there is always a ripple effect and you don't want to push updates that break stuff that was working before. So the bigger the game is, the more polish an update needs before you have a release candidate - and even then shit breaks more often than not.
All that said - Valheim is imo more polished still in early access than most full releases are these days. Howling for quicker updates would only risk damaging that fact, so I prefer the slow pace with working updates.
A fair point. I personally believe that the slow pace kills interest over time, but builds a more loyal community. I just don't like the breadcrumbing of "Hey, here's these awesome things you'll get to see! Release date? Give it a few more years and don't expect anything!"
Reasonable is not the word I'd use for being upset about the update pace of Valheim. The way forward has always been made clear, and stating release times precisely typically leads to more frustration when delays occur. The thing with early access is that you're interested in being a part of the development, and you're never required to join in on the community. It's especially strange to attempt to make a point that things are slow moving, because early access isn't about setting a pace, it's about helping development and supporting the team. If that's causing some impatience and frustration, perhaps consider just looking back to the game when it is fully released, rather than pouting because there's a handful of months between anything major(a decent pace all things considered imo).
That’s definitely a fair point. Though, having spent hundreds of hours in Valheim, it’s natural i'd feel frustrated when progress feels slow on key gameplay features and content. Being part of early access means hoping for steady improvement, not just waiting indefinitely. I’m not trying to "pout", just expressing how some players feel. Hopefully, the updates pick up pace soon, but if it's meant to be as it is, then i understand.
Considering Valheim has 1 maybe 2 major updates left, I'd rather they don't pick up any pace and take their time polishing their game.
At this point, a bit of roughness would be forgiven if it meant progress. And frankly, most players would gladly take content with a few bugs over blog posts every few months. And 1 or 2 more updates feels like selling the game short. Of course i'm not the one to call the shots on how many more updates there will be, but with the uniqueness and crazy potential of this game, calling it a day after Deep North or an Ocean update just doesn't feel like it.
But yeah, at least it's still growing, nothing wrong with that.
You mean that ending where the devs were always planning to end it and we knew it will be like that, as it is a game that is meant to be finished, doesent feel like it?
Current plan they have is that the DN update will be 1.0 release and updates after that bring fixes, improvements and maybe something minor that doesn't change the planned progression of the game.
I don't mean the ending, i mean the amount of mechanics, features and content they could still add after 1.0. I mean, there's cool suggestions in the discord every day, so it has much more potential than that.
Besides, putting more content into the first 5 biomes would definitely be welcome, but that's a very subjective opinion from me and shouldn't be taken into account
Next upcoming update probably will bring something to earlier biomes, but we shall see what it will be.
Iirc they usually reveal something like 10-20% of the upcoming content beforehand.
The gem system with the ashlands was a great feature imo, they could maybe mold it into deep north as well or other biomes to add variety to the gear.
#suggestions are always open 🙂
Sure, but with the crazy amount that there is, it's safe to assume it'll be overlooked.
Iirc devs actively read suggestions and if they personally like the certain idea they might add it in some form, regardless how they're voted.
Then why even bother writing them anywhere 🤷♂️
yes
I wasn't implying that making a suggestion is useless, i was skeptical about whether suggestions just get lost in the desert or not. And based on what Joel said, i have been corrected on that.
You can also bring up suggestions you’ve made/liked in the past to reignite discussions about them.
Which it typically how some #suggestions message get relatively high votes and feedback
Stating it's a safe assumption it'll be overlooked does imply that it's useless though..
if someone suggests a complete overhaul of the game, when it's on it's final leg of development. it probably won't be added
soooo many people play the first 10 minutes, and have ideas on "future" biomes. without even completing the game yet
I've seen poeple asking for carts, boats, bigger boats than the raft, blue berries etc
like comeone mate, play the game before asking for things
play it and see where it leads, first
don't ask for "I want to go to the moon in a space rocket biome" in a viking themed game
Yes, it might've sounded like it, but i didn't mean it in that way, that's my bad
No of course, things like that wouldn't ever make sense to even consider.
but people still ask for those things 😦
people wanted horses and mounted travel, before they realised the world they play on isn't flat, isn't horse friendly and is made up of 100+ small islands
It is cat friendly tho 😭
no.
Oden is afraid of cats to start with
In Norse mythology, Freyja (Old Norse "(the) Lady") is a goddess associated with love, beauty, fertility, sex, war, gold, and seiðr (magic for seeing and influencing the future)
and she has a cat driven carriage
Yep
omg lol
I have found huge tech ⚙️ lmao
😏 Fader dead in a 3 seconds, zero set up required, no building
Either tell us or stop teasing us 😂
Ah I'm gonna tease this is insane
What the heck 😂
Is there a way to post steam bugs without it being public? 🤔
Maybe message directly to Smiffe, ofc if you get his permission
The edging game is real.

https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/1lrb22l/final_boss_died_instantly/ If you want to go down the rabbit hole
Saw this last night and woke up this morning with the solution
And then optimized time
Hmmm... I would love to go and try it but i didnt kill him yet (saving it for deep north)
Never killed Fader :0
With a bit of luck the first time killing him will be with my fists
oh you too
i wanted to keep also the Queen for my 2-bosses-less policy, but couldn't resist and miserably failed (by beating her)
So many modded screenshots recently.
and BotM entries
#screenshots message How's this one modded?
Man.. I love bonemass. Saving my butt in Ashlands
That one I have no idea. Don't think it is.
I think people mean you need to mod the game to tame it 🤔
Is it tamed or just trapped?
I was more bothered by the ones in #building-screenshots with stained glass windows...
I still haven't figured out what you did with four wood and now there's another thing I need to find

You're too fast
😏 problem solving
The four wood one is so obscure I doubt anyone wille ever figure it out
I've figured this out already, never mind
In 3 seconds tho?
