when do I need to upgrade my armor?
as soon as you can if you want to be the most prepared
or as soon as enemies start to become a problem if you don't wanna spend too many resources
oh i was having so much fun just now playing with the son in our hard mode game... we died to some stupidness last time we played (managed to recover all alright no prob) then I said i do not want any part of that swamp Island we died on, and forced him to a different swamp a little way of (i was so pissed about that death)... and today we went in there and did discover the bog witch lived there π and so he could see all the new stuff she has and we had so much fun lugging home the first 100 Iron and working on our base... happy-sigh
I would be more happy even if i had better than 2 2 3 troll armor with leather cape... but trolls have been somewhat rare foes to find ... uh ... maybe make him use the love potion ? could get us the troll armor updated π
That is an incredibly fun (tho maybe not good per se) idea π
well after killing elder and having some armor i am not afraid to take one or two trolls together with another player... so it is not really super dangerous.... and they caould farm some wood for us in the process π and shed their hide too π
Well they will be most likely 1 star if you drink it before going to the forest π (granted they were not spawned there before when you were there)
is it normal for there to be stone golems during the Moder fight ?
kinda? moder doesnt restrict their spawns
some leveled wolves also tend to join in every now and then
Γf you fight at night that is π (the wolves)
that fight tends to last a day depending on AI
Hmm, didnt have one that lasted that long yet π€ and i fought her a fair few times
well I had one before I activated the fight, then 2 during the fight
unfortunate spawns
Seems like there is an area that has favourable conditions for their spawn
It is normal for anything to spawn during boss fights if you didn't spawn proof beforehand.
i didnt more winged it lol
it just so happens that the mountain spawns are particularly brutal
Tbh mountain boss fight is the one i get most random spawns for some reason
the longest fight?
that'd be the queen and then fader i feel
i found the queen to take the longest i clarify*
Eh, Bonemass is longer for me usually, Yag is at the very least similar lenght as Moder but i dont really get any spawns with him
For me the fight against the Queen and Yagluth are taking longer as the one against Bonemass and Moder. I haven't done Fader yet, so won't be able to judge that
Fader will likely take you longer than those two (Bonemass and Moder)
i tend to skill check bonemass with an upgraded mace so ye...
And yeah, queen is 100% longer than Moder but there are kinda guarnateed seekers so i dont cout that
I just take my time with him and lvl up skills a bit π
its just my inner dark souls junkie craving the melee xd
Hot take the queen is one of the coolest boss fights in the game
Sure π but still somewhat long nontheless
If her teleport timer was increased a little it could be a bit better. One minute is too fast with everything you have to fight to reach her
Did you use magic?
god i hate the queen
She's the only boss who's killed me so I do too
never died to her i just hate the boss
At that time not really i was always a bow main
The second time I fought her I was using magic for the first time and focused too much on spawning and shielding skeletons so I didn't have enough eitr to defend myself
I mostly used the staff of protection and the dead raiser
As in you spawn skeletons wait shield them wait until you got fill eitr and run it
Is there something I can do to make my autosave faster?
Manually save
Is there something I can do to make my save faster?
Or rather, what makes my saving process take so much time? It took 13 seconds at some point today
As the world's file size increases it just takes longer to write everything. How big is it right now?
I dont know where to find it. Hold on
Well no because it takes time
Why shes got the coolest concept for all the bosses
Its just gettign annoying, it used to take 4 seconds and somehow it jumped to 9
I think you dont like her because it requires you to position well instead of dodge smack simulator which is entirely what the fader is. Preference i suppose
Mine takes like 12
I dont mind i understand the game needs to think
the lamest concept*
Keep in mind that the more changes you make to the world, the longer it takes to save it.
So if you have done a lot of terraforming for that huge base with those nice 4 story houses with lots of torches and other lights, as well as multiple fires it will last longer as when you use a small island with a wooden hut as a base.
elder and bonemass are close to the bottom for me so i will keep them out of it but the queen to me is like....you have a fucking lightning deer, a frost dragon, (aanother yagluth glaze ahead)....a fucking half of an undead sorcerer king that breaths lasers and throws meteors at you....and then a big bug.....
The boss is fine i don't mind the fight
I literally find the concept and placement so uninteresting she is my least favorite boss β
she is in between two ultra bad-asses that makes her compared to them look like a weird joke, like she should be before moder and after bonemass or something.
How is it the lamest? The entire idea of releasing a sealed hive queen and going into a foggy boss dungeon was cool as shit
The Queen is my favourite boss. Moder is my least favourite
Queen aint my fav fav but its top 3
its a bug, compare it to two epic wondrously magical bosses that she is fought between
But a bug fits in with the rest of the Mistlands
But the door!
yeah and thats a complaint on the mistlands in general for me but i'm trying to like the biome still.
idk Queen is one of the most epic encounters of valheim
the door is cool sure
Seekers are some of my favourite enemies
We're all going to have preferences. I'm not all that keen on the biome itself, but I love the infested mines
Yea and thats fine you're too hyper focused on the bug part and dont appreciate the thematics and ignore the fact that her being a bug is what makes her cool
the knockback the seekers have sucks all enjoyment out of my soul
π€£
SEE IM NOT ALONE ON THIS
That does suck
Two of their attacks have 150 but the rest are all 40 or less
i'm pretty much the opposite. Mines are kinda meh, but i love just running around the Mistlands and exploring.
ticks are just annoying, seeker soldiers are all bark and no bite literally almost, i fucking hate the game encouraging you to kill dvergr, the BEST part of mistlands mobs for me is the gjall.
Something truly unique something truly awesome
mistlands is just one mystical and magical experience i don't get the hate
Whenever i see seekers i see some overblown cockroach and i don't think its cool or mystical or magical
i think gjalls are magical
The gjall is a uniquely creepy enemy, and I hate them π€£
if there were more weird mobs like the gjall i would love the biome, i already love it but i hate the thematics of the mobs and boss
I despise seekers, but i do like the design of the boss. Kinda reminds me of the sliver queen from MTG
The mist is magical the gjall are magical the dvergr outposts and mages are magical, the door to the queen is magical, the rocky spires are magical, the jotun remains are magical..........the seekers and the queen are just there and add nothing for me.
If you want to fight some magic enemies, stop cheesing the dvergr
would rather cheat the game or uninstall

spawn dvergrextractor 5
Ooof! The dvergr keep getting in my way, so I've been their victim too often. The mages hit hard!
i only fight them when my dumb ass friend randomly punches one and aggroes an entire tower
(or when i break my own cart within their ward apparently....)
Somehow the ward is more intelligent than the dvergr?
idk what that sentence means
The ward knows you were cheesing with that cart, while the dvergr were just watching cluelessly earlier
π
Obi just hates bugs i think i loved the big bug vibe and the yggdrasil vibe the mountains take alot from me because the biome is annoying to physically move through but the boss and the enemies are some my favorite
i love bugs but seekers are so super nothingburger they literally look like cockroaches and cockroaches are laaame
If there's dvergr mages in a tower you don't need cheese, just kite over some enemies and the mages will destroy the ward (and rest of the tower) themselves π
they're kind of careless about collateral damage
I've done fader 3 times now and i honestly think its like 4-5 favorite for me i love the bell concept and i love the lore the boss itself is just yagluth light to me and its kinda spongy
remeber when it used to be full of webs and we all thought it was gonna be big spiders
Who's we
Pre-mistlands players?
Nah i fw it
yea
Big spiders would have been such a vibe honestly
No thanks, i had more than enough spiders from Grounded
i liked past mistlands
but atleast the one we have now is super pretty
mora the spider from ori is a perfect example of a good spider boss
yea it was good as there was no mobs lol
Torches still block spawns?
Yup
ty
anyone who can help me with a problem in #building-tips ?
So, I'm very new to the game and I think I've made a pretty big mistake in summoning the first big-bad (the electric stag guy) and I'm stuck in a loop of getting killed every few minutes.. Do I need to start again?
no not at all
Use block and jump (Or block and B on controller) to roll. This allows you to avoid damage from almost all attacks in the game.
Even against his lightning attacks? My weapons are only level 2.
Yes. Very few attacks can still damage you while rolling, none this early in the game
Yes you can dodge all of his attacks i recommend you get a bow and shoot him
If you get a shield you can very easily block his attacks for melee combat
is there any way to make torches etc to not need refueling
There's a command you can use to instantly refuel nearby light sources, or you can use some infinite lights such as wisp torches
I recently got Valheim and been loving it, I was able to get some of my friends to also get it and they feel the same about the game as me. However there is one big issue, when I am not hosting our server no one else can play, so there are many instances when my friends want to play and progress in the game, but I just cannot get on. And I don't want to leave my PC on all the time, so I am wondering if there is any way to make my server open to my friends all the time, regardless of if I am hosting it or not?
whats the commands name?
if you buy a server i guess?
is there any free way to do it?
i dont think so but i think they were like 10β¬ for a month maybe? and if you get your friends to also chip in you can split the servers cost
oh ok thanks
will tamed boars follow me after i tame them. cant decide if i should bait them into my base, or build a temporary pen closer to them if i find far ones
they wont follow you
they won't, so baiting them first is the way to go
ok cool.
Yeah there are a ton of options for dedicated servers. I've seen them as much as $20 a month but if all the players split the cost it's very affordable imo
Hello fellow Vikings. I am curious if there is interest in a real role-play setting like Valheim. Not just run from one boss to the next.
I am not talking about WoW or D4. That is not role play !
Rather think about a character, a story and play it out in a community with like minded. Not 13 year old boys rushing to the Ashlands.
If we stay 3 month in the meadows, so be it. I think who has read so far is interested in more.
I played p&p in D&D setting for about the last 15 years and the Valheim setting is surely a new experience with a great pantheon and a brutal life style. So if there is some existing server or people that enjoy to be someone else for some hours let me know
Best bet would prolly be #1024264966712340510

is it possible for a save from a while ago to not be compatible now? (save from jan 2023)
people were saying that the map will gen new areas based on new content, but we've gone decently far and havent found any swamp, worried our world is broken
i know swamp isnt new necessarily but just worried the passage of time with new updates may have messed something up
It's possible, yes.
The change of Ashlands and the addition of the Bog Witch may have changed lots.
One thing you can do is check the map seed at https://valheim-map.world/
But instead of putting in the code of the seed, upload the .db and .fwl of your map name using the blue button with the lying bracket and upwards arrow on it. It will tell you where to find those files.
With that, the generator will create a map from your files, which will give you an indication of what to find where.
If you only want the biomes, I advise you to turn off all the other search options.
yeah looks like we've verry successfully avoided every instance of swamp lmao
like by a hundred meters or so in multiple places
never heard of the biome generation failing in any way in all my time here yea π
yeah i wasnt 100% on it being broken, just know sometimes using the same world between updates can break stuff in similar games
Did u hit start server?
And invite them?
yes, they are able to join but I am trying to make it so they can access my server even when I am not online and hosting it
hmm, trying to rollback a save and ingame it said "last save 8m ago" but when i go to the menu the last one was 2 hours ago
and before that its 3 Days
does it not stack up autosaves every 30min?
might buy valheim, I would 100% if my stupid friends didn't say this game sucks
I literally put like over 100 hours in it when it was on gamepass
I mean, it's a single player game, it doesn't really matter what your friends think.
^^^ my friends arenβt too keen on it either but I have more than enough fun on solo and the occasional co op
is there a two person bed yet?
Alas, no.
How do I get the farming set from hildir?
Brass chest from smouldering tombs
Alright thanks, how do I answer her request though I forgot
with money π§‘
Use the map right in front of her
Oh okay
do tamed wolves follow in portals?
Is there a way to deconstruct items?
No
No
I need someone who's smart
i have many positive traits
You came to the wrong place
Actually no nvm there are ALOT of smart people here except me
mememe
They can probably answer your questions via #valheim-help
No no no
Its actually a simple question. What do i do with seeker meat now that its useless
obliterator is pretty good
I DONT NEED MORE COAL
You're never not in need of coal one way or another
I am not in need of coal
Heresy
Like carapace sureee I'll make arrows but the meat bruh is taking up chests. How so?
Ykw I'll do?
I'll just cook it for when im idling and building
Doesnt it cooked give like 60hp? Good for chilling
just make 500 svinstew
then make 500 pecan pie
Must i show you my food chests
yes
Ok one second
My homie chopped up 2 blackmetal chests worth of wood and made a whole iron chest worth of coal.
itsa 1 to 1 ratio for coal though? or am i thinking of of things?
If you burn it yes, obliterator no
If i just sit afk in the ocen will a serpent spawn or do i need to be miving
what
I just realized that the beard they have on our vikings are stuck to the chin so any mustache that hangs above the lips doesn't actually snap to it
If you sit on the throne and have the stone dwellers beard, when your Viking yawns his bearded lip gets left behind π
Got a bot in here sharing some nonsense. π
Yea no pfp attention seek ah
NOOOO I'LL NEVER UNSEE THIS
3 day old, discord lookin ahh
Normalize not sharing
Never
So true π
Thankfully Seeker Meat is 1:1 conversion.
Bruh i already have so many coal
Go find more iron. You will have less coal.
How much IRON DO I NEED I HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO MAKE
You never stop needing iron.
I guess you stopped building?
You build using wood and stone?
Ironwood allows you to achieve greater works of architecture.
Especially with stone.
Stone has limits. Ironwood extends them.
Flametal pillar
I suppose
Ironwood beats flametal iirc (just barely, but flametal lets you build in lava so that's the trade)
Meh im happy with my base
What's that feel like? ππ
It's so obscure that you won't really see it
99% of the time.
But I'm going to pull a "literally unplayable" move despite this
We dont know π but it will take some time still as the devs were (maybe still are, not too sure about that) in preproduction stage of it not too long ago
ah thanks bc me and my step father are waiting for the last biome π₯²
Well we got ashlands not too long ago π so some wait time is expected
oh we know about that
it's going to be a long wait
π thanks for the heads up
How long for the fictional bee biome?
Also considering it will be the 1.0 release i would assume it will be quite a long time π (but i am happy to wait however long it takes :D)
its awful, is there any console command or anything to take priority of hosting when im there or something?
i mean its fine if shes seperate, sure, as intended, but when were together is there any way to force the host of the world to well, host the area
Not that I'm aware of. A command to set priority for certain players would be a great addition though
No
i mean.... it says dedicated server only but isnt the difference just that one stays always open (not needed) and the other on and off since its just the game?
hey if i die at sea do my items sink down?
can i retrieve them somewhow?
grave on the ocean surface
easily reachable from boat
trust me, ive experienced multiple deathsquito and sea serpent deaths in my 1 ingame year of valheim experience
i can just roll into DN with an existing world, right?
Yeah, just steer clear of the north as much as possible
aight
Honestly this is more exciting than a short one lol
Deep north needs to be done right
it's the last biome update for the game
can't have it being a let down π
I feel like Ashlands delivered hard. Like that would've been really good as a quality standard for deep north. But I imagine you guys are gonna go harder
π
Is there a channel to post fan theories? Lol
no π
#suggestions is full with them tho
or the theory crafters in #suggestion-discussion π«‘
#suggestions only exists because the PTR players are much more interested in 'prior knowledge' than they are in improving the game.
My theory for the lil kid is heβs the last giant and thatβs a boss fight like that shadow of the colossus game
Is there any giant skeletons in the Ashlandβs ?
2* charred warriors are pretty big
Oh no I meant like giant remains in the mistlands
No, those are only in mistlands
Be nice to get some context and follow-up to the petrified bones. Also the leviathans.
You need turnips for the first improvement. There's one improvement for every biome past black forest
Does it exist? Ive never found a single one π
They're much rarer than carrots. They look similar but are yellow
They spawn in swamp as well instead of the black forest
quite rare to find
but 3 seeds = a your entire turnip supply
I just need to keep them away from my friend.
He planted 50 carrot seeds and it all disappeared for some reason
More than likely they where to close to each other or attacked by mobs. It's important to keep your gardens protected.
keep your farm land protected
especially during raids
By the time you have carrot seeds, it must be obvious that enemy creatures can damage your constructions.
yall is it worth getting a black metal atgeir if ive been playing swords and ive got like sword 60 or something
i really wanna try atgeir's 2nd ability on fuling groups but i dont wanna die cus of a damage difference too large
Oh for sure go try it π
100%! Expanding your weapon skills is hugely satisfying.
Just a fair warning, atgeirs can have a learning curve behind them, it may take some time adjusting to the new playstyle
Be carefull and watch your stamina, the secondary eats quite lot of it π
Fulings are short, though. You just gotta swing the atgeir like you're taking out knee-caps.
I'm more referring to the flow of combat, typical parry and smash is a reactive playstyle, while atgeirs are more proactive (stagger before they can even do anything), that switch up in flow of combat highlights the learning curve that may come
The 'Yes, and...' on this server is sorely lacking.
Love atgeirs, if I ever go back to 1H Sword and shield I'd 1000% carry an atgeir as a secondary
At the very least, you can subscribe to their Insta; @geir.
That got a chuckle out of me.
albeit a bit cheaty im using circlet expanded (or something like that) so i have a stun area attack with the circlet. Obv depending on the circlet isnt as fun but as a start ill def start doing a sort of stun-secondary-stun-secondary for big groups. might be a bit fun so wont get overwhelmed
Are you looking for an improv troupe?
Onions, mountain has onions, swamp has turnips
Something I like about that is if a player does discover onion seeds early, they only need a lvl2 cauldron to make use of them with onion soup.
Round that up to 250 just to be safe. ππ
In what radius game creates stuff around player?
Nothing better
Me when my 25g of Ra 226 are left unattended for 180 days and I suddenly have 23.56g of Ra 226 and have 1.44g of Ac 228 π
Is a level 1 huntsman bow a bit too weak for Moder?
Yes thanks
It's pretty weak against it, yes. But if you intend to use it only when Moder is in flight, it may help you anyway.
What about a level 4 fine wood bow?
I think that's even worse.
If you want to use a bow, Draugr Fang is the (much) better option.
Even while it's poison doesn't stack, the overall damage it does is higher.
Okay that makes sense
Huntsman bow will be good enough though, and if she stays on the ground more (which is random) even a finewood bow will do
Make sure you're using obsidian arrows though
Not fire arrows?
Even with the fire weakness, obsidian does more damage
Alright
The problem with fire arrows is that the damage is in two parts - the pierce that occurs on impact, and the fire that occurs over time. If you don't wait for the fire to go out, then the next arrow is only going to do impact damage, which is low for fire arrows
Makes for a slow fight
Fire damage stacks so no damage is lost. Spirit stacks too, but not poison
yea, the problem is just that the damage is low
Really? It doesn't feel that way
22 fire x 1.5 due to the weaknes + 11 is still just 44 total damage, as opposed to the obsidian arrow's 52
Try using the staff of fracturing against something with a lot of health
Or just stand inside an aoe that deals fire damage
I don't like the staff of fracturing, so have only made it once lol
Do spirit arrows exist?
each hit's fire debuff ticks down separately, but their damage ticks happen at the same interval and thus add together, so if you rapidly hit something with fire over and over, the ticks will be much higher than a single hit's for a little bit before going down again
Silver
Okay
Maybe you need more patience and focus?
Is Moder weak to spirit?
Patience is not a strong point of mine
Only those with patience and focus will be able to harness the true power of this staff.
Nope. Other creatures are though
only undead (and some exceptions) take spirit damage at all, and of those only some are weak to it.
That counts me out then π€£
Me personally, Iβm a fan of the crossbow
I like it too, but I still carry a normal bow most of the time
just killed a 2 star greydwarf brute on my first black forest run
i got pretty tired of levelling bows and the earlygame bow draw speed after H&H, so mistlands adding crossbows was all i needed to never touch a bow again except sometimes for moder
What changed in H&H?
Stuff
I meant with the bows
it was less so the changes and more the fact that i (just because i wanted my main character's skills to be maxed) grinded bows to level 100 right before hearth & home.
hearth & home claimed to nerf bows and it sort of did at least in the early and midgame, but max level bows are pretty much exactly as they used to be.
pre-H&H, the draw speed reduction at level 100 was iirc "100%", but this didn't allow you to machine gun out arrows because your character still had to complete the draw or undraw animation or else no arrow would be fired, so you hit the rapidfire shooting limit long before level 100. now, this limit can still be reached, it's just later than it used to be.
(also H&H made it so that once an arrow is fully drawn, stamina drain slows down, so if you were already level 100 in bows, H&H was purely a bows buff)
no other weapon's power difference between level 0 and 100 is as big as bows', so after spending a lot of time levelling them to 100 and getting used to that speed, the earlygame feel of bows became a bit grating, a problem i never had with melee weapons
though it was also helped by the fact that my mouse at the time struggled to hold leftclick, so it'd constantly release arrows early
My bow broke mid Moder fight π¦
You'll still be able to damage her when she's on the ground. What level was it?
Arbalests my beloved.
1 π
I just wish Ripper could pierce through a target.
How much does she regenerate if I were to head back to my base in a few minutes to repair my bow?
All enemies constantly regenerate max health over an hour
I did like maybe a 5th of her health bar
So you have one fifth of an hour to repair
I died as soon as I unpaused the game
What to? (I know it was probably moder, but what attack?)
Ice rock breath attack
Make a terrain pillar when you can, it's an indestructible shield for that attack
I can avoid it just not when Iβm stuck in a tight spot. Iβm going to make a closer portal first though
You got speed mead?
No
I did not
If you sleep the hp regen also speeds up
Oh yeah, I accidentally did that as I remembered that
holy shit i fucking love atgeirs they complement my SWORD AND SHIELD playstyle so well. Completely different weapon, mixes and works so well
killing groups of enemies is so fun
i dont even need the modded light circlet stun for it
also whats the best weapon for loxes? so far porcupine has been the least shit for them but it still feels like there could be a better alternative
I always said mods are completely unnecessary π
The atgeir π
fuck yeah, havent tried it on the atgeir yet so i wasnt sure. So i assume all big chonky enemies have a piercing weakness?
eh the circlet's stun is still pretty fun anyway
They are neutral π but you can stagger them very well with it and they are resistant to other physical dmg
tho since i moved my sisters pc to my room out connection has been pretty good, might use the recycling mod to get my stuff back and just have a normal light circlet, or at least a mod to JUST have the circlet with a helmet
fair, still does more than a porcupine. awesome
Yeah, its entirely pierce while porcupine is roughly 50/50 pierce and blunt π
are the yagluth vegvisirs rare? i found a moder vegvisir after like the third mountain castle thing but i havent found any after a bajillion gremlin castles
They are not at the towers or the villages π they can be at the stone "gates" or the "stonehenges", and yeah they are probably the rarest vegvisir in game π
after 190 hours i still have no idea what that orange vertical bar right to the crosshair means, with a shield icon under it
i assume its a blocking related thing, cant block for that time or something, but it doesnt seem to match to gameplay
The stagger bar π if it fills up you will be staggered
oh shit only found 2 of those
"just parry"
?
i mightve not noticed what it fully means cus i parry and if i get staggered, its cus my health is too low and i just get instantly staggered anyway
basically i either do, or absolutely dont get staggered
Even while parrying you can get staggered
but it lets you block more of the dmg, that is true
if my health is too low, ex. forgot to eat food
Even with the best food in game you can still get staggered, its just matter of how much dmg the enemy is able to do
parrying in valheim is suprisingly easy, unless its a group, all with the same AI and attacking in different intervals. then, i run.
Oh yes π it is quite enjoyable
what im tryna say is i never saw the bar get filled even 10% since i dont let the enemy hit me, and if they did, ex early plains when i didnt know lox attacks that well, i was looking at the lox and my sister and not the UI
ok anyway off to visit some mountains
Or bows
When you find your first 2star wolf and lose it due to it clipping through the mountains harpooning it off a hole.
And the 2nd one lost due to it fighting a golem when I found it qwq ......
:( yea took me a lot of effort i tamed mine in the mountains
First new world in almost a year and I decided to delete all previous worlds and characters
Yea that's fair. For me i just enjoy the mid and later game more than early so i tend to use the same character
Well time to work. May Odin be with you all
Yeah π tho atgeir is arguably faster
Hear ye hear ye
Dynamic maps should be implemented, let me see the destruction I have wrought onto my land
Could be done either by having more markings or the less fun option, gps
You can put the idea in #suggestions tho i doubt it will be implemented π
am I the only one that immediately gets detered if they see a server with a mod pack like honestly its so annoying to download a mod pack for a server thats so small and barely has any players and you have to do all these work arounds if it doesnt actually work it just seems like a waste of time the world modifiers are much better in my opinion.
even for the ones with healthy communities its just not worth the hassle.
Thats why you can select the tags to vanilla in #1024264966712340510 π
very true but not everyone clicks that button.
Welp solo is always an option π i also dont like mods very much and enjoy playing in the world by myself
true I have my own solo world that I play frequently
You are not the only one.
im in plains for my first time. i dont understand how im supposed to actually beat these enemies. i cheated enough to get a sword and shield black iron or somethin. but im still getting obliterated.
Ngl i dont use them
even my parries dont save me from half health being just. gone from a spear
What's your food?
sausage mincemeat eyescream
Problem A located.
how. how does that food make my sheild not block
Because blocking is tied to max hp which is tied to food, lol ππ
Food is the most important stat in the game.
It's tied to max hp and shield.
And since the Hearth update years ago.
Block force has nothing to do with ability to block.
Heβs right btw, stagger is tied to total hp which is tied to food
i see nothing about this on the wiki
If only someone had written a indepth blocking sheet that was pinned in this channel...
Look up stagger limits
Now who could have written such a sheet π
I am here to steal the credit of said work
Also block force is the knockback from the shield Iβm pretty sure
Can't. It is literally named "By Sevrahn" π
I appreciate the effort though!
βPlayer with 100 health would have 40 stagger limit. Attempting to block 100 physical damage with 50 block armor would let 50 damage through the block which would be enough to instantly stagger the player and cancel the block damage mitigation.β
π Thatβs my nickname
Sheet I wrote has a Readme that has a step-by-step of what the game does any time you attempt to block.
so. i just blocked a besrker on accident. how can i do that, but not a spear
2 star or 1 star fuling maybe
Did the spear fuling have stars?
no
Whatβs ur total hp in that scenario
Did you use the same item to block with the same max health?
4
@kindred hare first, get better food. Please. For the love of Odin.
Second, bonemass power whenever you try to fight a village and it will be a cakewalk.
Was your stagger bar nearly full when blocking the spear?
Bonemass won't affect what you can block
no
No? Shouldnβt you be able to block twice as much damage? Where is damage reduction calculated in the formula
Player resistances are applied after blocking calculations, for the small amount of damage you take when blocking
Eh. It's a bit more complicated than that.
How? I thought all the blocking calculation is done before player resistance is applied?
Yes. But then it reduces how much damage you take post-block.
Which effects stagger meter.
So it does affect how much you can continually block.
so. what wolf skewer instead of mincemeat sauce, sausages is highest i have. eyescream is highest stamina.
You shouldn't even be using the sauce in mountains
wolf skewer sausages and eye scream should be like 160 health
i know. i just had too much of it and it was working.
im running out now.
its only 25 more health. for blocking, meh. ig that helps but in general it wont stop me from being basically 2 shot
How much armor do you have
doesnty seem like it since i onyl get like. a few ticks a minute.
its awful how slow the regen ticks hit
You just have to adjust to the constraints of the game
Ignore what I said. Somehow two biomes apart those foods still have the same regen
wolf armor with rooted chest is probably the best thing you can wear going into the plains as long as you avoid all fire
thats what i have. not rooted chest tho.
rooted chest in particular will help a lot against the spear fulings and deathsquitos
If you use the root harnesk you can use the wet effect for fire resistance before you get barley
ig i do have barley growing. that can help
the torch dudes have actually been the least of my issue
It's mainly for the shamans, not the torches
If you are struggling in the plains I do recommend taking a step back to upgrade your gear and stock up on good food tho
those too. bow them while i can, smack them when i get them to half. killed several
My biggest mistake on my first playthrough was trying to push through mistlands under prepared, not taking advantage of meads or the best food etc
the only reason i hadnt changed off the mincmeat is cause its only a 15 hp difference between that and the wolf skewers. so no point wasting onions as i grow that stock
You get a big enough onion farm going and itβs hardly a waste, all the hp you can get helps
HHS coming out of the Mountain is Skewer, Sausage, Eyes. Yes.
You're shooting to swap that into Lox Pie, Fish Wraps, and Blood Pudding if you want to keep HHS.
Drop the Fish Wraps for Bread if you was HSS.
Keep in mind stats deteriorate as the timer goes down too
Going serpent hunting is also a worthwhile investment
True.
yea. i havent figured out how to fght on the boat yet. whenever i try, i just hit the sides.
the bow aims slightly to the left of your reticle
So it is advisable to aim on the left side of your boat
fish wraps and wolf skewer will work. once i get my barley going more.
do i need to fish where i see fish, or anywhere work
Stand on the side so your bow is over the side.
Where you see fish
why do i have 2 0 star boars if i have 2 2 star boars? thought that it got it from the parents
Kvastur aggroed out of nowhere, what do i do?
Kill it. It will respawn eventually
2 star deathsquito. bowed it. hit it but the hit didnt count cause we traded. tf
Deathsquitos can't spawn with stars, unfortunately
they sure asf can
Are you playing with any mods?
yea. idk if any would affect that
Mods often break the game in ways unrelated to their content
ive only got 12. so i dont mind. it makes waht ive got a bit easier in some way
idek what im looking for in the plains. ive got black iron smelting. flax and barley is growing.
Hi I got Valheim a couple days ago and I've been on it for over 24 hours. Wanted to know when I can unlock stone buildings
Swamp tier
Does anyone want to start a Vanilla world with me?
Thanks!
i see. its cllc. i tried it cause some reccomended it. i think thats why ive been seeing so many more starred enemies
is there no blunt black iron equivalent?
and is padded the plains tier?
Uhhh I donβt believe so? Frostner should be more than good enough tho and yes padded is plains tier armor
No, but that tier doesnβt need one. Pierce helps make the mace more effective for lox than a blunt weapon would be
And blunt doesnβt do much in the next biome either
blunt for the growths. the tar slime
frostner is perfect against them
Your frostner (assuming you made once since you want a new mace) has spirit so itβs good for them
Porcupine is a great weapon. It just doesnβt have the damage types you expected
Have you beat the mountains boss
yea
even found one of them fancy caves that has the wolf boss thing. hes hard so i ran
Iβm curious, do you guys play combat fully zoomed out mostly or fully zoomed in or somewhere in between, because whenever I see videos a lot of players tend to be fully zoomed out and Iβve found I usually play the opposite unless Iβm surrounded by a lot of enemies as it helps me read the enemy attacks better
im midway
Iβm usually fully zoomed out unless Iβm in a dungeon, using a bow (which is rare) or in mistlands
i tend close
As far out as I can so I can see as much of the field as possible.
fully zoomed out is the best, can see the most that way
I like to be somewhere in the middle, maybe a bit zoomed in π
whats the strat for growths. i just get overwhelmed cause their attacks last longer than i can dodge.
Shoot them before they get in range.
Works like a charm.
and have insane range.
shooting them does virtually no dmg with my bow. its the poisony one
obsidian arrows
Just run/walk sideways (circle them basicaly) and they will not turn fast enough to get you π
i swear. yall must be playing a different game haha
that is the worst way ive tried tbh. they just firehose their tar
cant outrun them. cant get close enough to dmg. if i do, i get knocked back
i did get them to kill a lox for me so thats cool
Draugr Fang rank 4 = 56 Damage
Obsidian Arrow = 52 Damage
56 + 52 = 108
108 / 2 = 54
54 damage per shot, target has 100 hp.
Define "virtually no damage"?
the red bar is like barely a sliver
dont have it rank 4. ig thats why
sheesh. i debug flew to get away and they still were aggro-ed
Spiral towards them while blocking. Theyβll miss most of their shots and youβll block the rest. Jump attack so you arenβt slowing yourself down to land a hit
if i take 5 steps forward, they hit me even a bit, i get yeeted 10 steps back
Blocking reduces knockback. What shield do you have?
Iβm pretty sure it would reduce that too, if it works like frost
I havenβt tested
you should be running diagnally until they fire their tar, then go in for a few slices/smashes
Or just shoot them π€·ββοΈ
no reason to face tank them, they're very predictable
Shooting is boring
i stream in necks pond if u can watch
Yes. But these are Growths.
Shooting is simple and effective. Save the non-boring for other enemies imo π€·ββοΈ
yah, you can get yourself into trouble if you have 3 of them firing at you, but 1 or 2, and it's really easy to 2 tap bonk a growth with a mace
You shouldnβt be out at night. More enemies spawn
huntsman bow + fire arrows
circling absolutely does not work. i am fairly confident in that
is huntsman after draugur
before, it's the iron tier
ok think i threw that one out.
I am fairly confident it does π thats how i dispatched them in last 5-6 playthroughs
It makes less noise than the other bows, so itβs a useful tool for attracting small groups of enemies
how did u circle them if there were more than 3?
cause if i circle 1, i just get hit by any others. and at this pit, theres like. 6
Dot get them all aggroed at once
You could bring some friends
2-3 are doable
most of the time, i just lead other enemies to them anyway
If you're going the circle method, I recommend drinking Rat Potion for increased speed.
how do i not get them agrrod. they aggro from me when i can barely even see the pit tbh
grab a couple of fulings, and lead them to the tar death
yea. the lox are helpful. plus they die and i get lox stuff
If they see another enemy theyβll become alerted and it takes a while for them to stop
i brought 2 lox who instantly died. one was 1 star. then i died too
Lox arenβt supposed to spawn with stars either
he might be left over from when i removed the mod
i cant even loot his stuff cause its stuck. bruh
Drain the pool π

if only i could get close enough haha

i mustve been hitting a starred growth. cause the bow is working a tad better now
No starred growths
Itβs a mod
i removed it dw.
it was annoying asf. still got some remnants ig
More loot is annoying?
not being able to kill anying cause theyre all 2-3 stars is
is there a mod that makes enemies friendly fire? that would be nice. cause the goblin dudes be spanking eachother all the time and it doesnt help me
Some enemies in ashlands have friendly fire
do bone fragments do anything? i keep gettings them i just throw them into the obliterator or whatever thing now
They have a use later on but you donβt need a ton of them. Just keep a chest and obliterate the rest
just use them for decoration
make a bone pile throne or something
thx yall
@kindred hare just gotta mention I approve of the name
haha thanks.
i was currious if coconut doggy was a destiny fan cause "per aspera ad astra"
any idea?
haha
i havent played in a bit. final shape was good. but they ruined the seasons with this current one
haha i got around 6k since d1.
Clearly not my destiny. Never played it
That's only my steam time. Got about 600h more on Blizzard and PS4 combined
based
I played until Bungie broke their word and then never touched it.
which time was that hah
Fair. But you see, I'm far too gone down the rabbit hole.
basically my view too
I believe in your ability to make your own choices regardless of bunny status.
too much money in the store to turn back now?
that's the rationale we see in Star Citizen π
And it's the only PvP I legitimately enjoy in the gaming industry. Nothing else like it. I need to dig out my playtime stats, but a LARGE majority is in PvP
i dabble with sc. its not as bad as people want it to be.
yea. that was me back on console. im washed asf tho so i just stopped
they have a cooldown after the barrage
did they remove copper collapsing?
I average a 1.3-1.4 K/D
Tetris Battle Royale didn't do it for you? ππ
much longer than the normal ranged cooldown for bow wielding enemies
but the problem is complicated by simply more growths
blocking the attack with a shield stops the Tarred debuff but not the poison
aaaannnnd... I just noticed we are very much in the wrong channel, URPS. Let's move the non-Valheim game talk to #general
Oncologists say something similar π
haha nw i gonna focus on crafting anyway. have a good day
do i tame lox like i tame boar?
Yes. It works the same for all tameable creatures, just with different food
ok thx
So, we started a Asksvin farm in our meadows base and got a great lesson in invasive species.
Well, we happen to have a large pit weve painstakingly filled with mobs to train block skills, nicely encased in a small fence to keep out the riffraff. This will be important. Anyone whos raised Asksvin will tell you the same thing, they breed worse than rabbits. Before you know it you have dozens of eggs, and not much to do with them at the moment. So, we bred guard dogs for our base. A while after releasing these jacked up dino lawnmowers, we noticed they had begun to sniff around our training pen. which was okay, until they proceeded to break down the wall, forcing their way in. And we could only watch as hours of work kiting and pushing animals and greydwarves into this pit, was torn limb from stony limb as all the Asksvin we had released, some 5 or 6, began to charge the gap like they were storming a fort in the ashlands. After this, to the horror of some, they left the abattoir they had created and fled into the countryside, killing not to fill a hunger but for pure sport. Deer, Necks, Boars, ll that crossed thier path was cast down. A glorious and horrible display for Odin.
β€οΈ π
whats my goal for plains? do the goblin villages til i find 5 of the things and a village might have a stone to find th boss?
raid the villages and stone buildings to find the totems
When is 1.0 expected?
also nab any flax/barley you see, you'll need a lot of both in the near future
yea i growing it too. got 2 lox taming as well
barley for food, flax for gear
I need build ideas
When itβs ready, no one has a date yet
Is a level 1 frostner good enough for the plains?
I mean yea but level it if possible
The plains can be navigated fairly easily if your patient
ive never leveled anything up and im doing aight so far. plains is def challenging me. so might start. seems like theres a fairly big gap between the plains and whatever is next anyway. but idk
Whats your main issue in the plains
the fact that i am in them
That doesnt answer my question
haha. mostly just fighting many things at once. im doing ok tbh
Oh ok so if enemy swamping is the issue atgeirs are god so is the sledge weapons anything with an aoe basically
3-5 should be easy enough with frostner and a bow
ok. i was gonna build an atgeir. im more of a sword shield guy so its not working as well here.
I am too however frostner and an atgeir with a bow is god make sure to snipe out enemies with sneek bonus
Getting a good snipe in can be game changing
yea thats been a big help
My main advice is be aware dont run into groups by accident always know where they are
Navigate intelligently and make lots of portals
Wasn't uncommon for me to have 5-8 portals per plains when i first did the biome
I typically put them in cleared fuling camps
yea thats what im doin
kinda dumb. i just cleared a massive camp for no totem. then this camp had 3 dudes and it had a totem
yea they arent too bad unless i get several 2 stars
the issue is that they usually never come alone
(and 1 stars deal damage in the 100s, 2 stars in the 200s)
berserkers keep the pressure on you, shamans give unbreakable shields(even to deathsquitos)
shamans are kinda not too bad as long as i have enough stam
the duration for their shields are infinite but as a plus
only like. 2 hits
it stops damage entirely, but it doesn't calc damage
so you can whip out your fast knife, carve away the barriers, and go back to business
Before 2030
Is root armor really that good
pierce resist but still a swamp tier armor
- fire vuln
it can be negated with barley wine but yeah
Yea but isnt that just sacrificing all other damage for one type
I'll take more blunt slash fire poison frost but take less pierce
yup
Some of the most damaging enemies deal pierce
people swear by it, but i say just raise your shield when you see the lil buggers
fire poison frost can be fixed with potions
the thing is that pierce is a common damage type and the pierce reduction you get is huge
frost with a cape
You're gonna take a potion Everytime you fight something?
no only when someone does a high amount of that damage like gjalls in mistlands
i like the wolf cape
If that something deals damage the potion gives you resistance against then yes, 100%
but i don't need to be constantly reminded i have a severed head next to my shoulders
How do y'all find the time
What time?
spirit/lightning resistance potion when
To make all those potions dawg
Enemies need to do those types of damage first π
They essentially make themselves. You just do anything else while they ferment
I have 5
So yagluth and fader
for solo most is about 4-6, need more than 2 for new meads now, like berskerkir rata bunny meads and then the normal resisatace onces and health stam eitr
found beehives x berry patches x "do i really wanna fucking make more bronze again" x what i need to restock/make
all archers deal 100% pierce
deathsquitos deal 100% pierce
fuling spear throwers deal 100% pierce
||dvergr rogues|| deal 100% pierce unless you cuddle them to provoke their melee attack
||seekers|| deal 80~% pierce
||ticks|| deal 100% pierce
etc.
many carry both the root harnesk and a heavy chestpiece around at the same time and switch depending on what they fight
winter hiii
always bugs me in games where enemies get a move using a weapon, and when you get that same weapon, you can't use that move
it'd be very niche considering the crossbow lends itself more to long distance stealth combat, moreso than bows which i'd say are about mid range active combat weapons
but i couldn't say no to a bash either, secondary attack's just unused as it is
hiyaaa~
i find much amusement idling at night and making a fight pit by kicking mobs from other biomes into it
Eikthyr
i mean, i doubt that potion/mead would be available pre-eikthyr if it existed
-# also wait, spirit resistance? we're immune to spirit
who knows enemy that inflict status weaknesses on us
I suppose how much of a difference does it make i wonder
that would look cool
50% reduction before armor is applied. much like the bonemass power, it makes pierce attacks pretty non-threatening
Yea but why not just bonemass?
i always liked the potion designs
add a new potion type thats borderline useless, cuz i think it would probably look nice on my kitchen shelf.
because you can only use that for 5 minutes every 20 minutes (i do use bonemass, just as my emergency immortality button)
bonemass serves as both protection and a boost to the confidence of the player
breh how long to lox take to tame
3 years
taming an animal takes a total of 30 minutes of it being calm, loaded in and fed at the same time
I wish other abilities didnt suck
if any one of those is interrupted, it pauses until all 3 requirements are met again
food keeps an animal fed for 10 minutes
ok thats why then. thx
elder i wish can also help with crops or getting seeds
for a giant tree guy, his ability is helping you destroy nature
Cutting down trees faster is the worst reward maybe ever
yeaaa i wish that ability at least also gave you a mining boost, but i guess that ship sailed with the queen power getting that boost instead
lets you grind wood easier but later in the game you'll have enough chop damage to reliably 1hit normal trees
i stand by the elder being a good spot for that boost
plus why make coal from wood when you idle around surtlings
Yea but make it do something else i propose. Make the elder increase your healing speed
that'd be interesting and kinda fitting
Exactly
the lox just friggin escaped. they stood on eachother
Asksvins also do this
at least it was the lesser tamed of the 2
functional lox enclosures are always a messy thing
i just split it in half so itll be ok now
now ill just sit here for 30 mins. then i shall ride into the sunset
does sleeping affect the speed
it's one of the very few exceptions in that regard - it doesn't
Hence why i never bother to tame them
And mounts drive like a fucking shopping cart
for some reason i do on like 50% of my playthroughs despite having absolutely no need for it
Is it worth doing another playthrough
i just burped so hard it hurt my chest
Ew
depends on you.
part of me does it because i'm invested in testing updates and how things change over time, but also the earlygame progression is just my favourite part of the game
writing down a long list of bugs introduced in each update and then never reporting them because i stress too much about doing it correctly
-# half of them are caught by the community and promptly fixed, but the other half i never see anyone talk about
Fader does not do lightning or spirit
dw there's a fun bug with fader that no one has reported and i can't be assed to show it, queen also has a crazy bug that you can trigger and do some fun stuff with π
i've not fought either much but i sure don't doubt it, bosses love bugs and jank
it's quite funny actually, with proper set up fader will just constantly do fissure after fissure after fissure after fissure, endless loops of fissures, and he becomes literally unkillable
the stuff that bothers me most are the little things that are constantly on your screen whether you notice them or not, subtly (or something very bluntly) scratching away at the game's otherwise great atmospheric immersion
a now finally and deservedly famous example would be the goddamn dirt lines at the edges of chunks that were introduced in the ashlands update and iirc still haven't been fixed
ah yes
but i also can't be the only one who noticed that one of the more recent updates (i think bog witch but it could've also been something earlier than that) made dripping water particles weirdly bright?
it's most apparent in swamps, where everything's super dark but as soon as an enemy gets wet, they're highlighted from a mile away by dripping glowing white stripes, it definitely was not like that on early access release
hmm honestly haven't noticed that but maybe i just haven't been paying attention and now that you pointed it out i might notice it
side by side of march 2021 and november 2024
my god i've been playing this game a long time already
ye sure enough now that you point it out i see it. thanks, i hate it
is there a way to check when you first started a game on steam, all i know is i bought in before hearth and home
hmmmmm, your earliest screenshot?
view your transaction history
that'll show when you bought the game
it was gifted to me
then check your gifts i think that'll work
uhhhhhh
wheere when why how
well i can see gifts i sent, a bunch of valheims to my friends in 2023
the 16th of january 2022 i beat yagluth for the first time.
it might still show in your purchase history, even if it was gifted to you.
or your licenses.
Is anyone looking for a tm8 for competitive and tournaments ?
OHHHH?
bro...i love how 4 years ago a post was made on reddit asking to not make ores teleportable π₯΄
What's better for abominations. Axes or swords and boards
Swords are better
Hit faster and don't suffer from a multi target penalty
unless your using a battlaxe, then the advantage of sword having no multitarget penalty is equalized by battleaxes also not having multi target penalties
but even then swords > battleaxes for aboms
axes are balanced a little weaker because they double as tools, and battleaxes are balanced weaker against single targets because they're meant to excel at handling groups, so since abominations don't take any extra damage from axes, swords win by a little bit indeed.
(but you're likely to already have a decent axe by that point since a bronze axe is ""required"" for fine wood, so in that case it's subjective whether or not it's worth making a sword for abominations since the damage difference isn't huge)
bruh having a polearm upgrade to lvl 3 makes plains ez mode sheesh
fists
Wen PS5 port?
Never? Maybe?
I would gladly get a ps5 port to further support the game, I hope at some point rather than never
And if you are able to have the same characters/worlds connected I think couch gaming would be perfect for building
game is in "early access" and "game preview" - something sony doesn't really do/like. sony is harder to work with, but they offer a bigger console market than xbox alone (not gamepass as a whole) so it's likely just a numbers game.
Yeah thatβs why in hoping for 1.0 or not long after that
Numbers they don't really need.
For 1.0 it would be a great way to boost sales i imagine, Iβm curious of they will be able to reach the numbers seen on early access release with 1.0
not sure i agree with that. it's not like companies stop trying to make money because they don't need it π
I've met the minecraft problem. I'm terrible and designing bases.
Or anything even remotely good looking π
hey if it works, it works
Well the only way to get better at building and designing is by experimenting and getting creative, how do you envision it to look and how can you get it to look the way you want with the tools available
well, minecraft is easier too, because you don't have to support areas while trying to figure out how you want it built
easier to build anything but easier to make it look good? Iβm not so sure
roofs are my problem child, i can make good looking interiors and designs of the base itself, but sometimes it's hard to get the roof to work well with angles, turns and different rooms/room sizes
Do you have tarred roofs
that, and you can build a really cool base, but have trouble supporting the roof without iron/stone
i have built with tarred roofs, yah
i've had like 6 worlds i've built in now
I suck at even getting started. I make so many boxes. I have these ideas and then I end up with a box
#screenshots message i said the same thing back in sept π
Look up Viking longhouse find one you like and try recreate it
I do recommend going about house building realistically, have the shape of the house and roof made with support beams then fill it in with floors walls and roofs
Add more support beams where required
^ realistic structures end up being the sturdiest and best looking lol
somebody up?
Up and Adam
You should be able to, just click new post
i cant
i think its slow mode
so
he cant for the time being
Well i am not sure how long is the slow mode there, so might very well be that π€
1 hour slowmode to prevent spam
Given how some people can be, it is also a 1 hour spammode to prevent slow π
man, generating a better continents world takes so long
Soooooo Iβm back playing after like a year, what the heck happened to the water textures?
I remember them being seemless between biomes now itβs big ugly checkered squares
They don't look like that for me
that sounds like some kinda mod issue maybe?
maybe drivers idk
Mine are fine
If you have installed mods at any point in the past, delete everything in the valheim installation folder and reinstall the game
I donβt use mods and got the latest drivers π€
I have died 5 times this week because I leave the server open so my friends can keep playing.
No desire to pay for a dedicated a server and see this as the biggest flaw this game has.
Is there no way to allow multiple parties to contribute to singular cloud save?
Iβll do a fresh install later then
When I used to leave the game open, I'd use a command to fly high into the sky where nothing can touch me
Now I run a dedicated server from my laptop so I don't need to do that
Did that once and got jumped by trolls
Not fun when I find my base in ruinπ
When you get your electric bill at the end of the month, probably have been cheaper to rent a server
I'm honestly gonna be disappointed if they don't eventually add dedicated servers. They should be apart of the game.
So many adventures ended prematurely because people can't get on when they want and lose interest as a result.
Name one successful multiplayer game that doesn't have dedicated servers other then valheim
Valheim does have dedicated servers?
and it always did
So why can't my friends log into a world we started together when I'm not online?
because you're not using a dedicated server
I think you mean public servers
you can either run one yourself using the tool in your steam library or rent one from a service that doesn't require one of your machines to be left running
So if I use the steam library option the pc has to be on?
Yes
So valheim doesn't have dedicated servers... it just allows me to use my own pc as one.
Really wish I didn't have to rent a server to actually enjoy the game with others...
i've never heard of a game that'll host 24/7 servers for you without charging you for the energy cost of having them run a machine for it
I think theyβre on about official public servers, like Ark or Conan has, what Iβm picking up
But this game isnβt designed like that
they're making a point about the PC having to be on, which would be the distinction between a dedicated server and a manually hosted one
I would only expect it to be on while being accessed by a party member. Would be kinda lame if days just went by when nobody was playing
If you don't play daily there's probably not a need for a dedicated server.
On a dedicated server, days only go by when someone is playing
still has to be up for someone to join, considering you can't join a server that's not online
You don't
Oooooo I thought of one, itβs a lil known indie gameβ¦..
Minecraft I think itβs called π€
I'm not sure what a system would look like that only magically turned itself on when someone wanted to play it.
We have that technology, itβs called a PC π
I think I get what youβre saying though, itβs essentially a shared cloud save that anyone associated with can start up and host?
Fair enough, I'll just wait until 1.0 and bail on the game at the mistlands again for the 4th time because coordinating with more then 3 people consistently is too difficult.
Next time I do play this I'll be getting a dedicated server though... im actually sick and tired of unfinished games, this one was definitely one of the last I will support... idk how I could love and hate a game so much...
Unfinished game orrrrrrr Early Access π€―
Bingo
LOLOLOL
I don't know either, it's quite irrational. Have you tried playing solo? It's a single player game at heart after all.
Tbf I did enjoy it more with friends than solo and Iβm extremely anti social
No, it's not. It's what we have come to accept as a result of what I talked about.
It's for 5+
That doesn't really sound different from a dedicated server with the only exception that there's only one host.
It's not what?
A single player game at heart
And still, one person hosting a chunk of the world feels like it's more important than the world host
Somewhere it states the game is βbalanced around solo playβ
Just because it has the OPTION of playing coop doesn't mean SP is NOT the intended way of playing, and is balanced around it
the devs didn't even expect multiplayer to be as popular as it is, which is why so much time after the EA launch was dedicated to patching up the network code, and why servers are limited to 10 players at a time, why there isn't any kind of anticheat, why boats don't have oars useable by other players, why there's scaling, etc.
it's a singleplayer game first, it just has optional coop and it's how most people ended up playing though it wasn't intended that way.
Twas made by Europeanβs, we donβt like people
i like people!~
but after my first playthrough was a multiplayer one, i also really came to appreciate solo valheim
Fair enough. Single player is why I love it. The potential for multiplayer is what brings me back... the reality of the situation (either no access or denying access when unavailable) keeps me from enjoying it with others
Noone is denying access to your game.
Hello Valheimers, I have a building question.. is there a better spawnable i should be using rather than rock_destructible_test for unlimited build height?
I would be the one denying
imo skull1, it's tiny and indestructible
their friends not being available
By not being available and not leaving my pc on while flying
awesome cheers
(you can use forcedelete 5 skull1 to get rid of all skull1s within 5 meters (limit is 50 meters) around your character)
one step closer to my 1:1 recreation of Bran castle. Cheers!
Do you have wip ss?
Sounds badass
This is why I donβt have any, how dare they have lives that donβt revolve around me, bastards
also it's just funny to say "my castle is held together by a thousand skulls"
-# come to think of it, that makes me wanna check how many skulls i used for hvassfjallr
Seems unfair to take that out on the game though.
they tell me that i have the bad timezone
also appropriate for the irl castle Bram Stoker decided was Dracula's home
Yeah my girlfriend used to say that, then they upgraded her AI package π€·π»ββοΈ
I forgot how much I hate Gjall π
them be appearing out of thing fucking air and exploding you instantly due to the fire weakness of the feather cape
brasileiro?
Just tested this and works perfectly. Thank you.
kinda wish i'd started the build using spawned in indestructibles now, would've reduced the instance count by thousands if i'd not used steel support everywhere already. Ah well.. lessons learned. π
So there used to be a trick where you could rename a portal but it took a second to stick, and you could jump through to the original location. Is that not the case anymore?
Maybe itβs based on ping
I mean, this is a local game,
think that has been fixed
yea they now instantly clear

whats the point of not giving antler pickaxe some upgrades?
Because then the bronze pick would be even more useless
then why not restrict picking iron with antler pickaxe cos if everyone is able to do that no point in making the bronze pick
having some upgrades in antler pick is just qol
by upgrade i just mean durability like hammer or hoe thats it , itll be perfect keep the damage same just a bit of durability
It's the starting pickaxe, it shouldn't be good
i do find it a lil bit silly tho that you can mine iron with it
yea then they should give us a reason to make bronze pick, like we need bronze axe for birch make the same thing with iron
itll make sense to make bronze pick then
ye
I mean, is the incentive not that the bronze pick has more durability?
still doesnt make sense to build if you can skip the bronze pick just give 1 or 2 upgrade in antler pick(just for durability) or lock iron mining with bronze pick
more stamina usage though
Can skip, doesn't mean will skip. π€·ββοΈ
What's up
well obviously skip cos bronze age is the worst in valheim lmao
how much time takes a boar to be tamed
I don't mind it personally.
30min
there is a schedule for how rare is the wolf trofie?
ty
also is there a chance two 0 star boar can give birth to 1 or 2 star boar?
No
Also...
I'm convinced Mistlands was designed by 'Big Peripheral'. They're trying to mkae us use the spacebar so much we have to replace our keyboards!
ok i killed yagluth . he was actually a breeze.
are the mistlands the red areas on the map. the outer areas
It should be like a black grey purpley colours?
purpley ig ye. ok thx
Why there is no bonemaw stew?
Would be too OP π
No
Well if we take normal serpent stew and its stats that are equal to food 4 biomes later... yeah it would be too OP if it would follow the same patern π
It could be a normal health food in deep north though
Oh for sure π
I hope the currently unused bonemaw scales make a shield there too
But not with the stat jump like the normal stew has
a stat jump is sausage to lox pie
Bonemaw scales?
They exist but aren't dropped right now
kay
Had me super confused to ngl
bruh my first mistland biome is literealy small enough i can see how small it is just by zooming out
Because the game is not finished
So when is the Oceans Update coming out or have they just given up on that update? It was the update that my friends and I were most looking forward too as the Oceans are quite barren, would be awesome to have new ships and an Ocean boss
Dude it feels like mushrooms take forever to respawn Iβm always running low coz of wolf skewers
Whenever they deem it ready to be released.
And wouldn't make sense to have an ocean boss
they stated years ago they scrapped that road plan so no idea if itβs still even planned
afaik they havenβt mentioned anything else since
I don't remember the roadmap saying anything about an ocean boss
Only 'ships and the sea' nothing about a boss
Yo will greydwarfs throwing rocks at their spawner eventually break it or does it regen health?
will eventually break
Well we dont even really know if it is comming π
are the mistlands always so islandy, or am i just unlucky with this biome generation
Not always, just unlucky π
that's what they do to shallow seas - turn them into archipelagos
solid land that got populated by mistlands will still be solid land
ok good. thx
i think i am missing something. i have a lvl 7 forge, yggdrasil wood and black iron, but i cant craft the new stuff.
what are you trying to actually build?
pick
do you mean black metal pickaxe? https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Black_metal_pickaxe
no.
what pick then?
you only need crafting level 2, 3 ygg wood, and 25 black metal.
