"is there any easy way to find and farm trolls? im using the finewood bow with fire arrows"
perfect block is more effective Id say
but not the best to learn it with troll hide armor
Well, generally just wander around in BF and look around. Randomly hit a rock or a tree to make some noise to attract them if they're nearby.
ok
you want me to perfect block a troll, with a wooden sheild? not happening
Try to look in BF areas you haven't been in for a while. As there's a timer before they can respawn iirc.
i dont have enough bronze for the buckler yet
nah, learn it with bronze armor^^
i can already perfect block often, not 100% of the time but still
but i think running around shooting arrows is easy
If you run 2 health foods, got a decent blocking skill, and some upgrades. I've parried them with wooden shield and murdered them with flint spears :p
interesting, would my bronze axe be better than a flint spear>
But I can definitively see that not everyone wants to do that.
Naah, troll is weak to piercing damage. So bow, spear and daggers are good.
Trolls are weak to pierce
Not sure what to recommend there. I've just played the same character for a long time over many many games/worlds, so I've just accumulated a good bit of skills over the years.
You shouldn’t try to get your skills anywhere, it’s best to increase them by playing normally
Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about skills, just play normally.
i know, i have my axe cutting and pickaxe at about 26, those are my highest 2
Jump is always my highest
mine is maybe at 13, i dont jump a lot
Run, woodchopping and mining tends to be mine. They're always competing.
I always jump attack when I can. Attacks don’t slow you down in the air and it’s a better than rolling to avoid attacks
Huh interesting, I'll have to experiment some with that the next time I start up a game again. (taking a break)
Try to time your attacks so they hit as early as possible, to minimise the time you’re vulnerable on the ground
It takes a bit of practice but very fun and effective once you can do it well
Sorry forgot to respond to this. I've soloed queen with magic. Which was basically cycling between the three staffs (protection, ice, fire).
Protection obviously to stay alive, ice for single target damage on queen, and fire for any time there's adds.
I had to run around a lot to regain mana, the best thing about playing magic is that I can keep my stamina free for running >_<, that was a lot of kiting and running, much more than melee. The fight is long and tedious no matter what. And I'd recommend taking breaks, just run out of the area to get a minute or two breather and regain health etc, wait out potion timers.
just play it however you want. If you want to be able to parry more attacks, higher health helps, but you can also level blocking a bit if that gets you to where you want to be. It's easy to level blocking if you just get some weak enemies attacking you (and you have as much stamina/health/armor as you can have to avoid staggering/high damage). Play in whatever way is most fun for you; the game is very flexible to play styles.
Health helps for parrying and blocking attacks, not just parrying
yeah good clarification, I meant them as interchangeable since they are for this purpose, but that may not be clear early on
Yeah I really do prefer 2 health 1 stamina food most of the time. I don't trust myself to dodge everything enough to stay alive with just 1 health food.
I use 2 health with a tower shield and normal shield, and 2 stamina with a buckler, 2-handed weapon or 1h no shield
Makes sense, I might try that next time. Was planning to try hard again, and probably run with 2 handers through the game (I really don't like shields on hard).
I’ve never played hard because my friends don’t want to. I occasionally use no shield for the movespeed.
Ah, basically the block/parry formula is based on damage blocked/parried. And since hard increases all damage, it just makes it harder to use it efficiently. Depends on what difficulty you use, but at some point I gave up trying to parry no star enemies in same biome. And just gave up on shields entirely at that point.
I played valheim for like 2 weeks with some friends a year ago, but I quit because they lost interest. Now I'm playing it again solo but I have a stupid tiktok attention span now because I have no one to play it with. Anyone know any mods that speed up the progression a bit?
I would think that if you use the appropriate shield/buckler for the biome and parry everything, you should be fine
not a mod, but if your main gripe is the speed of progression, I would recommend going into your world modifiers and increasing resource drops, or whatever it is, to like 2 or 3
either double or triple the drops from literally everything in the game
the amount of time to transport and process your resources will still be the same, but it would massively cut down how much time you have to spend actually collecting them
and I'm sure there's a mod somewhere to make smelters and so on faster
Allowing the portalling of ores would probably help in this instance.
yes, that too
but yeah, even with no mods at all, it's possible to make collecting and transporting of resources super easy, barely an inconvenience
your biggest time drain at that point would jsut be waiting for the smelter/charcoal kiln
Wow i didn't even know you could do that. Thank you. I'll give that a go when I get home
can also turn on No Cost in the world modifiers, if you want to skip resources almost entirely
that'll let you build basically anything by having learned the recipe and having the appropriate crafting table nearby
Yo does anyone know of a roleplay server I could join?
what should i name my wolf?? 0 star that i tamed to wander my base
wolfy mcwolfface
Winton
breeder 0
I'd say no, but then I've never enjoyed the mechanic so maybe not the right person to answer.
So far seems like you need high skill to catch nice fish but unless your fishing all the time you loose your skill faster than you gain it
fishing is kinda just for fun, I think
I like collecting massive fish and hanging them on my walls tho
first time seeing ashlands, docked right next to a monument of torment, got aggroed by a bonemaw serpent, life's good
honestly could be worse, that's pretty typical
it is a very "d-day" experience
Except it’s more like d-days because the enemies never stop coming
the first time is definitely the worst in how it feels, but yes, they are relentless
i'm looking at the wiki page for these guys and ive only found 2 enemies in the ashlands that don't oneshot me
They do once you've killed the spawners.
I played the update with some friends it really doesn’t feel like they stop, although they do come in waves with occasional breaks
Which update? The nerfed PTB patch?
I think it was the original patch
one tip I have for resource collecting and such in the ashlands is just running the coast - you can outrun most things, and what you can't outrun will quickly be distracted by dvergr settlements on the coast. Having those guys near you can be a big help. Don't attack them - 0 star ashlands rogues are equivalent to mistlands 2 star rogues. They will one shot you, especially if there's a starred one. Vineberries and volture eggs are pretty easy to find along the coast
I'm stuck in a Gobbo tower waiting for two loxes to become tamed, how's y'alls viking days going?
I been doing a bunch of building and sailing lately
finally killed the mountain hildr quest boss. procrastinating bringing her the chest and completing all the mini quests
considering boating over some wolves when i turn in the chest, and breeding some over there to run around the plains with
man gjalls are such a bummer. at least with trolls and other big things there's a reason to kill them. after i get what, 1 or 2 gjall sacs they're just a base destroying waste of my time
One of them is tamed! Just gotta wait a bit longer for the second one
spicy blimps
Got the two loxes tamed and home to their new pen, and they already made a baby!
what do you use to tame the lox?
Your charm
ahh you gotta rizz them up
are there more two handed battleaxes like the crystal axe in the game? im not seeing one yet for the plains tier 😦
Hittem with the Rizzberries
they eat the cloudberries or whatever from the plains then?
Yeah
sweet thank you
You tame em with cloudberries and patience, I think you can use Barley or Flax to tame them too? If not, I do know once they ARE tame you can feed them barley and flax to keep em fed and happy
I'm having a hard time looking for sealbreaker fragments 🥲
Hello, anybody knows if the stagbreaker still its usefull for finding silver?
I saw a video that saids that now if u hit silver it will appear a 0 dmg on the screen instead of a too hard
and also, if the snow biome its to close to the spawn does it still have silver?
anyone wanna start a new world together?
idk about the first thing but the second one depends on how high the mountain is
if it does not spawn obidian then it wont have silver cause obsidian spawns at lower elevations that silver
The obsidian tip is awesome, thanks my mountain did not had obsidian so im gonna try at another mountain 😄
Can tamed animals use/ be pushed through portals?
negative unfortunately
great, cannot wait 🪓
Bile bombs
just got there for the first time with my girlfriend and we beached on 2 spawners and god knows what else. there had to be 100. it was madness 10/10 best game i’ve ever played. will be hitting up BRS discord in morning 😂💀
this game.
It's such a great challenge, eh? Love it.
so is the 10/10 serious or you being ironic? 😄
I just did this again in my last game couple of weeks back. Scrap Iron piles still give of "0" damage marks, and Silver+Obsidian still give of "too hard" damage marks.
And just to expand a bit on the answer to mountain biomes,if they're too close to spawn they're forced down under 80-100m or so, so no obsidian or silver. Iirc Obsidian can spawn about 20m lower than silver, so you need to find obsidian and then still be able to go up a bit.
oh i’m dead serious this is the most fun and exhilarating game we’ve ever played together, if we had more time (and less kids 😉) we would probably just grind everything back ourselves and do it again 😂 but i think this one might be a job for the Body Recovery Squad
hehe
Once i went into the black forest very early on a playthrough, got swarmed by greydwarf and lost all my gear. went back in and when i walked around a corner a brute was ready to oneshot me to oblivion. scared the crap out of me
Is it intended for range mobs to be able to use range attack while swimming and you can't do shit to stop them?
guys next to my base theres a small patch of plains where one mosquito and 2 goblins spawn if i place a workbench there will they stop spawning ?
Worlds really hyper affect enjoyment of the game.
In my experience, swamps are 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000km away from spawn.
But then when you try to trek further out, you die.
Swamps starts spawning a certain distance from spawn. But before plains starts spawning. So there's a certain "range" around the map where you can find swamp but not plains.
git gud
i wanna start a valheim world cuz ive never actually gotten further then bronze but i get bored playing by myself
For me the building is a large part that keeps me entertained. The building mechanics are just that good and versatile and they make me wanna spend hours chopping wood and mining stone
and the progression and expansion really starts to pick up after you made it to bronze
yeah but id still like to start a new world with like another person
any idea what kind of shield i need to block the golems?
Silver and alot of health food
what about parrying
skill levels helps alot
i believe iron buckler might be better for parrying than silver, but i didnt really look into it that much 🙂
Swamp spawns from 2000-6000m so that's a exaggeration of the highest order.
hello team
what is the best build for bonemass ?
that is 47 times the diameter of the whole map 😄
depends on your playstyle, but best weapon for him is a mace
what about the armour im thinking full iron with a root head for the poison resistance ?
I'd say the best is maxed out iron mace, iron armour, and a poison resist potion (stronger than root helm)
Edit: I'd also say an iron sledge for taking out the adds, but that's more optional.
the mead is better, if you play heavy armor then full iron + poison resistance mead
It increases durability and each upgrade gives +2 armour. But most people would rather not farm that much Iron (understandable)
yes, it will offer more protection and durability
alr ty
you could do it naked with just a mace
i legit rolled hit 6 times
when he does poison vomit i run away
then back to rolling again
made my first longhouse 😎
yes
is the iron battle axe worth making or neccsary i wont use it as a weapon i just will use it to chop trees ?
The regular iron axe is better for chopping trees
But you don’t need an iron axe to progress
is it worth getting or will i be able to make a better one soon ?
Mountains doesn’t have a regular axe so the next regular axe after iron is the black metal axe (5th biome)
alr imma make one then since it might be a whie till i get the black metel one
It’s best to use iron for other things first because unlike bronze, iron axe can’t chop anything new
1 is good enough but you might need to repair it mid-fight. 2 or 3 would be better but 4 is too expensive
should i use any arrows or a bow ?
No, he is resistant to slash and very resistant to pierce, so blunt is 3x better than slash and 6x better than pierce against him
alr and is sasuges , minced meat sauce and queens jam good for the fight ?
You should only be using food made with swamp materials. You could hunt a serpent to access the best health food available to you right now.
I’d use serpent stew, muckshake and either turnip stew or serpent meat.
alr ty
i just did bonemass with a mace, shiieldd to parry, a poison resitance pot, sausage, turnip stew and boar jerky as foods and it was ez clappenings
highly recommend
Never parry bosses because they can’t be staggered, blocking and rolling is better against them
blocking as in right clicking to shield?
doesnt rolling also take a lot of stamina?
Blocking as in using a shield/weapon but not timing a parry, or using a tower shield
It takes less than parrying
ahh then i meant just blocking
idk if thats his attack pattern normally but if i parry a hit i can get 6 swings with my mace in there
Parrying doesn’t do anything to bosses
i did not notice this, will be using this information in other (boss)fights!
mustve been my indomitable spirit the way this fight took 1 second hehe
Also, making a surtling farm in swamp is so much better than manually mining 20 stacks of wood to smelt 2 ingots xD
2 stacks of wood will smelt you 50 ingots 😉
Yes but why farm said wood when you can watch surtlings perish in the water for free coal 😉
dont forget the cores
i feel this in my bones. i've never hd this much trouble as i am right now with moder. It's not even the boss...it's the stone golem and wolves and drakes and the very bad spawn location i got her in this time
what shield shoulkd i use for bonemass then ?
round or buckler, those will come in handy also in mountains
alr
Iron buckler, iron shield or serpent scale shield. Don't make the iron tower shield because the scale shield is better.
The normal shield is better than the buckler unless you have a 2 stamina diet because you'll want normal blocking for the large groups of wolves you can find in mountains
why are chests so epensiveee
just wasted 120 wood on 12 chests and its not even half of the room
Chests aren't expensive, your storage room is very big
You should have access to bigger chests by the time you need 12
The third biome (and again in the fifth)
is that too big?
What do you even have to fill that many chests with so early on?
It's not too big for now, you just dont need to fill it yet
Another Lox baby!
I've done all this before... I'm not new to Loxes. But I can't help getting excited... They're so cute and my favorite animal in all of Valheim... And also delicious
Your favourite isn't necks?
okay, the demolisher is like a gamechanger wtf what a weapon in such a game. but i like it
The downside is that it's slow as molasses, it's hard to use in basic combat. But when it hits, it HITS
well the volume of effect is so big that you are literally invincible against enemies that are staggerable
I mean you regen enough and fast enough Stamina to do the second hit before they can attack you again.
at least it felt like it
what about wolf cubs?
no love for the puppers?
Ime they're such a pain to tame and get to a reasonable base since we never have bases in the mountains. They're cute sure but
Nothing is as cute as Loxes to me <3
personally, I view loxes as too destructive, even after taming, to do anything other than breed them for food, and even then special care needs to be taken so that the breeding pair never gets spooked and destroys the everthing in the surrounding area
I don't have that difficulty with Stone lox pens, and we even have one free ranging in our barley field, it's just not a problem for us.
We tame them first then put them in the pens, trying to tame them in the pens is hell.
Very good guard animals <3
#saveye
But I totally get having an animal preference, and Loxes are destructive.
there's also the small detail that wild lox are stupidly common out in the Plains, and are very easy to lure one at a time by using a bow
Don't tame Lox give you more meat?
nope
nope, they shouldnt
Ahhhhh, I see.
the only way they give more meat is if they have one or two stars
I feel like they should since, you're taming them and keeping them fat and fed. #VintageStoryMoment
and those are not naturally spawning so you cant get them without commands
But yeah, that's fair. I'm more interested in them for riding, they're fun. And good guards, and just nice to have around, brings life to the kingdom kinda thing
i could see taming some to keep around the far outer edges of a base in the plains, assuming there's a strong stone wall surrounding the base to keep them from destroying things inside when they inevitably get spooked
but the problem is that they can't breed to sustain their numbers that way
lol, nah. The main castle has a stone wall protecting it but we just let the loxes roam our wooden village, a few stake walls and fences are fine, and if they destroy a couple we just rebuild em
I do have the server configured a bit more casually though so
best bet for free base defense is a meadows base with 1-2 star wolves roaming outside the walls
We don't get like, raids all the time and stuff like that, so it's easier for us to be more casual with our loxes.
What about all the stuff that spawns in Meadows after defeating bosses? Can Wolves handle a few fulings?
oh yes if you have enough 😄
with high enough numbers, wolves can kill anything
especially starred ones
and in the meadows, the wolves will breed entirely on their own by killing boars, deer, and necks
I still don’t understand how to achieve this. What stops them from wandering off?
simply that the further areas are not usually loaded
nothing, but they generally stay in the area you told them to when not chasing something, and they constantly breed more wolves, expanding the area they control
That's fair, good to know. But you will never be able to convince me to not love Loxes as much as I do. They're just too damn cute and loveable.
so long as you don't do something stupid like putting sharp stakes around the outside of your base, they should breed faster than they can be killed by hostile mobs
Well, we have a pen and free roaming ones
So we breed lots in the pen, then can let more out if we don't need more meat
“…the area you told them to…” - told them how?
I believe they just mean where you put them
wolves are kinda unique among tamed creatures, because they can be told to either follow or wait by petting them
if you have them follow you somewhere, and then pet them, they will stay in that general area
well, I'll have to find a good way to get tamed wolves in our meadows base. They don't kill tamed boars or hens right?
they don't attack tamed creatures, only wild
when ‘told’ to ‘wait’ they stall wander, in my experience.
we gotta get a couple more tamed boards in our boar pen before we bring wolves in, they keep dying...
yep, but only to certain distance from the place you tell them to stay
it's not like a minecraft wolf where they sit in the exact spot and never move until something aggros them
if something aggros them, they will run to chase it, but otherwise they will stay within a certain distance of either the place they first spawned, or where you last told them to wait
We took a few wolves out with us once. Some of them had babies, Those just wandered off. Others were told to wait. They wandered off too.
Ime many things in this game can be a bit finicky... And some work well for some vikings while not working well for other vikings.
iirc when they agrro to something then the place they lose the agrro becomes the new center point of the "wander circle"
I was finding random tame wolves for weeks afterwards. Usually chasing deer up a mountain.
LOL they were really hungry
yeah, they disregard the stay command if agrroed
can you use multiple meads at the same time ?
yep
As long as they're different types, yes
So, you tell them to wait by your base, to guard it, and then one neck or grayling comes wandering by and they’re off.
they are off to the place they killed it or lost agrro for it, that becomes their new place there they are commanded to stay, but if you have many of them around your base its really not an issue
If I build walls around my base, mobs will still spawn inside and ruin my buildings. What can be done to mitigate this issue? I have tried workbenches already.
If the coverage isn't complete then things can still spawn in the gaps
spawnproofing with workbebches, campfires and other base items, if they still spawn you missed a spot 🙂
Workbenches work. I've spawn-blocked entire islands.
Splendid, will build Workbench monuments to butify my base in a more tight manner.
Make sure you have enough work benches to cover the area - you can check by walking around with your hammer equipped and set to some build piece.
Also note that enemies wandering by will attack workbenches... after you're sure of your coverage you can replace them with campfires, and even if the campfire goes out they will prevent spawns in the same radius as a workbench but enemies don't attack them on sight 😉
I appreciate it everyone, thank you.
just about any light source you can build counts to prevent mob spawning, so a good option is to just put lighting around on the inside of your wall and around the base
not only makes it easier to see if you're doing stuff at night, but it keeps random necks and greylings from appearing out of nowhere and destroying your stuff
Is the mistlands mage armor worth making
if you want to play the mage playstyle yes
(which is by far the strongest archetype in valheim)
It's a glass-cannon type build. I like the armor, but I have found that I actually mix and match with it for the most benefit.
But it's really not a glass cannon type build
Crystal cannon, surely.
Ehh... with the protection staff and such you can take a hit or two, but it's still very much around ranged and battlefield control. If you get caught in a corner you go down quickly.
is there a silver chestplate ?
Yeah, the wolf armor set is the silver set.
Every armor has a full set for it, there are no partial sets (other than the rags you start with, which have no helmet)
just ignore the slight confusion from the silver tier armor having a Wolf Chest, Wolf Leggings, and a Drake Helmet
Has the Deep North been talked about by the developers at all yet?
appreciated
If you get caught in a corner on any build you go down quickly what's your point
what if ur in a corner but don't get caught because sneak 100 😎
Anyone else feel like the Ashlands are an extreme difficulty spike? I've been getting my ash handed to me more in the last 20 hours than the past 600 total
Then again I am solo
"my ash handed" 🤣
yea. they're a bit of a spike
mostly afraid of bonemaws so haven't sailed yet in solo world but in a friend's world we all died and had to make another drakkar to get back. we were fighting day and night and eventually broke a nearby spawner
never struggled so hard to make a foothold before
No kidding, I've been solo for around 800 of my almost 1000 hours. Establishing a foothold in the Ashlands was almost impossible.
were u melee or mage?
Tbh I joined this server hoping I could meet more people to play with
Been melee, but I've basically swapped to mage atm
same lol. mage feels slightly meh in ashy but i haven't unlocked many staves or made the ashlands mage armor yet
I made the staves, but didn't use em till Ashlands
the mobility and semi control you can give helps stand ur ground for a bit. protection staff my beloved
I just love summoning stuff to do the work for me, while raining the fracturing staff cluster bombs from a distance.
I want the new summoning staff so damn baaaaad
i tried using fracturing staff but haven't made it click with me yet
i also mostly summon stuff
Direct hits are the way to go, I got the trajectory memorized and I love it
in my friend's world we're so close to getting the new improvement to the galdr table. like one feather short
it does feel nice, though the camera dhake is crazy
I genuinely had to turn it off lmfao
everyone got mad when i was spamming it on the morgen lol
Lol, I tend to focus it with the Frost Staff
yeah that's what normally did but it was a new toy then
i felt a similiar way but one stav in particular redeemed magic in ashlands for me
someday i'll get it
I got the wild staff, but I really want the troll one
the farm situation is starting to get better since there's 4 of us now, but we're soon to try raiding a charred fortress
haven't heard of the wild one, but someone did lead me on with the trollstav. my mates don't know of it so i hope i get my hands on a bloodstone first heh
I won't spoil the surprise
as far as i know dead raiser and trollstav are the only summoning weapons
i need to brawl with my fear of the serpents though. the ashlands awaits on my world. maybe also bring a stonecutter
eeewsgod damnare the mistlands un fun
staff of fracturing took me a minute to understand, at first I was wondering if it was any different from the staff of embers but i finally figured it out (At least I think). Spoiler in case you want to figure it out yourself. ||Staff of fracturing's main power is applying burn, the more times you hit an enemy with the staff the more damage each fire tick does. ||
I went in blind to the Ashlands, got some Subnautica PTSD
i wish i could play subnautica for the first time again
yeah that's what i assumed, tho most resist fire so it's a bit futile lol
||Don't forget the cluster effect, direct hits do WAAAAAY more damage||
would be fun for rematching the queen
especially that first time i entered the dunes that warning absolutely terrified me
Saaaame
Any tips for finding infested mines in the mist? Feels like I'm just wondering empty plains
that's the fun part
Uh you see...
I can't rember
staff of (r)ember
I've found there's almost always one mine per mistlands, unless it's one of the smaller ones
about the same as finding anything else. hope they find you lol.
just roam around and hope u either come across a long stairway or see the blue lights to a ruined dverger tower
Welp that was fun, maybe we could all play sometime. I'm off to go take my 21 hour nap
interesting nap
aw great. i just reminded myself that i need more black cores 😮💨
Any time you get attacked by 3-4 seekers at a time, explore the area around you because they may have aggroed from a mine.
Best weapons for ashlands?
Blunt will always work well over there, as lots of your enemies are undead.
Magic works well too. Especially the staff giving you the roots combined with your "bubble" works well.
Roots?
mistwalker is nice
You can’t make that until you’ve already been in ashlands though
Boy, just reached AshLands with my friend and omg, what the hell is that place. Managed to place a portal on top of a rock, went in and didnt comeback yet
We took the material to make a Shield Generator, and stuff to buid with Black Marble. Is that enoug?
u can build with the stones found on the ashlands as an alternative too. need a stone cutter though
Yeah, luckly I took the materials for a Stone Cutter in the boat
I just need to go back, run to the boat and build a base
good luck
Uhhh stuck in the storm
Heya all, I am looking for a certain mod and wonder if anyone knows > There was a mod that allowed you to reduce/disable the multiplayer mob scaling so that when playing with 5 people, the mobs wouldnt suddenly have like 4x the HP.
Overall I personally greatly dislike this HP scaling and would rather have a scaling through more mobs. I.e. 4x as many mobs vs 4x as much HP.
Does anyone know the name, or any good new mod that does this? thx
You might consider asking that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
ah nice thx, didnt scroll all the way down past the voice channels
Understandable, as I won't expect text channels to be found under the voice channels either.
Hope you got the luck to find someone over there to help you.
okay, this is funny. i spent a lot of time preparing my base for eventual seeker raids, and only now notice it won't happen in Meadows anyways...
well, the changes have been great against the goblin bros raid, at least
what armour is better fenrir or wolf ?
Both are good for different situations & playstyles
I've never made fenris armor because you either need to get very lucky or go through a ton of frost caves for the fenris hair, wolf armor is a lot easier to obtain.
i like armor points too much to use Fenris armor. i don't trust myself to not get hit.
alr what about the flesh rippers are they worth crafting ?
If your fist skill is already high, yes. Otherwise it's best to stick with what your character is good at
alr also what weapon do i use for moldur ?
Any silver melee weapon except the frostner (She's immune to frost damage) and a bow (finewood or better) with obsidian arrows
dam all i have is frostner which one do i make then ?
The spear is cheapest
i have alot of silver which one is the best
The spear will be good, even an iron weapon is good enough for her.
just make the best food you can for the biome? i'm assuming since you're exploring mountains, you'll find onions and can make wolf skewers. just bring our best food
is serpent stew still good in mountains ?
what's the mage weapon setup for late ashlands?
Serpent Stew, Wolf Skewers, Onion Soup, assuming you want to favor health over stamina
alr
i tried every one of them but ashlands-tier mage staffs (staves?) all feel pretty meh
How do I land on ashlands easily 🥲
Serpent meat is better than wolf skewer
Eat the stew and meat if you want 2 health, and if you want 2 stamina only eat the stew
👍
You don't. It's hard.
I got one shotted by bone serpent while trying to find mistlands
How are you anywhere near Ashlands looking for Mistlands?
Quick question. Do fires have a set range for warmth/resting bonus? Would the stone firepit be better than the little wooden one to spread out over my home?
stone gives 1 more comfort, use that
the warmth radius is about the same, as far as I know, but the stone hearth gives more comfort, meaning a longer Rested bonus, and trust me, you want Rested to be active as often as possible
Have they nerfed Ashlands yet?
The public test has reduced spawn rates for some enemies
are there starred gjalls?
Yes, at night
dear god
If only there was a way to check.
#valheim-patchnotes and #news is right there.
took you long enough xd
i wonder how many Oak tree models there are. I planted one in a small "park" section of my base, and don't like how one of the tree limbs pokes almost into a house. anyone have any idea? i hear there's also different sizes that can grow at random.
I just assumed they are all the same. Maybe incorrect assumption.
yeah, i definitely see some variation
took forever to get some acorns though. drop rate is pretty low
Same thing happened to me. Branch punched through my portal building wall
in my base it's just slightly intruding on a balcony, so i'm probably just going to put up with it
IRL oaks don't mess around either
I know! Strong trees. Irl you could just cut the offending branch at least
see, this is why I don't have trees inside the walls of my bases
but they are pretty 🙂 i have plenty of space. I planted it in the middle of some raspberry bushes. It really livens up the place
DEFORESTATION is the only way to play
that sounds like something someone who leaves their stumps would say
howd you know?!
when you meet enough degenerates, you start to pick up on patterns
im offended
anyways i do chop up the stumps but only when i try to make a nice big clearing
lol, feeling the guilt, eh?
like people not returning shopping carts to the return -- you know its the right thing... 😛
i infact despise those people but since this is a game well i dont have much to feel guilty about
do troll from troll caves respawn?
they do not
#building-ideas message plz guide me o interior designers
a stone golem is interupting my moder fight is there any way to get ridf of it mid fight
and is there a way to protect outside stairs from rain?
dumb that they take dmg if they connected to the building
it cant be that one longhouse causes me lag ? when my fps can go up to 144
Why would rain damage just stop if something was connected to it?
the rain domage stops 50% at which point the stairs have a nice rustic touch tot hem
it looks rotten 😭 but ok ok atleast it wont break
also. bedroom design ideas ? anyone ?
you can always put a roof over the stairs ont he outside
why do i feel like i should have more upgrades for my workbench now that im entering swamp
Hello 🙂
You should have 3 workbench improvements before swamp
#building-tips might have some.
goddamn... i made a second floor but now the fire is too far... even tho technically the beds closer
pretty sure you can rename skeletons, no?
i thought i'd make like a room but it looks kinda off in the longhouse ?
you can
though skelett's usually have some norse name or something in relation to valheim i believe. i didn't rename any that time
I had your best pal once
Just sailed 3.5 hours with a boat full of silver and blackmetal
im so happy with this build but still so unsatisfied 😭
hey guys, looking for someone to play casual/build
friends, i could use some advice. I am just on tilt vs. Moder. For reference, I've beaten Fader on another character and have like 1k hours in the game. I have a moder spawn that is awful...the mountain is very narrow, and there are spawn points for golems in the fight zone as well as two nearby dragon nests, so there are wolves, drakes, and golems constantly third-partying me and killing me. I've crafted a Draugr Fang and made stacks of poison arrows which i'm using on her, bringing in lots of good food, spammed campfires to try to shut down spawns etc., but i cannot get past this boss this go round for some reason. Is there something obvious i should be doing?
All golem spawn points are one-time, all other golems spawn randomly.
well, i've killed three so idk
no offense but do the devs of this game know the difference between hard and mentally disabled?
wtf is ashlands bro, i try to farm 1 flametal and legit 30 enemies spawn from nowhere that i cant do anything about besides just run away
Honestly it's easier to just raid the forts for flametal
ye likw wtf
uhm any idea... the map i was on, which is a fresh one, im having fps drops but the an older map in which im further and i have a village build and it has 0 lag ?
more buildings, smoother fps.... makes no sense
very degenerate style of gameplay, its not even about being good but its about just spamming portals every 2 meters you travel which is so super cringe
more of the map discovered etc
yeah ashlands suck
like ongod bro
The public test version has reduced spawn rates for some ashlands enemies
like it feels esp solo ur playing a "try not get gangbanged simulator"
Also because many ashlands enemies have friendly fire, dealing with large groups is much easier than it is in other biomes
idk why is that on public test and not out yet rn
You can enter the testing if you want to
ashlands feels like its meant for multiple people AND being in combat 24/7
bro "much easier" hell no, other biomes spawn like 2-5 enemies TOPS ashlands spawns a valkyrie 2 of them if you just stand on flametal, asksvin which legit chunk half of ur hp, and 5 morgens and about 10 normal enemies
and from all sides too
man i rly want a run where i keep focus on all biomes until im mistlands
last 3 runs i just fuck around until i start a fresh one
ye and because of that and the games garbage optimization the game starts to lag asf
i love how its also straight up unplayable unless u have bonemass
its like those mobile games that only allow you to play if you have enough lives
idk how it was a good idea in a badly optmized game to put a million things particelin and attacking at u at the same time
Bonemass power only helps if you can’t block or dodge
bro its called stamina, if there are too many enemies unless youre a mage you literally cant do anything about it
What food are you eating? I’ve been fine in ashlands melee before any of the post-release nerfs.
and i like how the entire game is pretty much chill all the time and randomly devcides to implement god damn dark souls delay attack as if valheim is supposed to be a souls like game
literally straight up the best food
I agree that the delay attacks don’t belong in valheim but if you try to play a little less aggressively against the warriors it’s not a big issue.
man there should e another channel: #1202313396356128808-venting
where people can complain, when they don't really want any suggestions or help
bro i just legit 20 minutes ago right before i went to this chat with my friend tried to farm flametal, 2 black valkyries attacked us, 2 1 star asksvins, 1 2 star morgen, 1 1 star morgen, 2 normal morgens, 3 normal asksvins, and literally not even kidding about 10 of the ashlands versions of greydwarf i forgot their name
like straight up what in the actual f am i supposed to do in this case scenario
oh and some more warriors
ignoring is an option as well, let the man vent
you can ignore my commentary also 🙂
great chat 😏
kinda hot
kinda.. ashy 😰
got me feelin like a greydwarf
yall just trash at the game if u cant handle the enemies in ashlands, get better Vikings!
lmfao u moron, there is a difference between hard and just bad balancing from devs
souls like is good example of hard, valheim isnt "hard" valheim is just straight up bs
There is a difference, and ashlands is hard
yeah the issue with ashlands is that it doesnt fit the games pacing up until that point, i dont mind difficulty, just how its achieved is the issue
ashlands isnt hard no, that isnt hard, that is actual bs that is pretty much impossible at some points
try playing in public servers where the spawn rates are practically doubled, cause i cant do much
bruh im not arguing with u 💀 im agreeing with ashlands issues
ye
but i guess the devs wanted a change of pace
but im just trying to say thats not the way to properly balance something. and these devs have no idea how to balance but its understandable considering this game was generally normal up until this point
idk im hoping the deep north would be more like mistlands mob density etc
devs just wanted people to build mage and brainlessly grind for 1 week to reach lvl 100
like why am i forced to go mage
aanyone wanna try joining my dedicated server to test if it works
and well tbf, valheim feels like it defo took some inspiration from the souls formula
yea does
idk why lmao, cause its totally 2 completely different genres, like imagine playing elden ring and fighting 2 malenias at the same time while having to mine resources
You aren’t forced to do anything
i pretty much am when melee is down right impossible to use without bonemass in public servers
playing on a public server sounds horrible
What makes it different on a public server?
i mean like with my friend*
mobs spawn much much more
a wild comparison 💀
i played on a server with a friend and we have dyrnwyn and a fader head--i think the mob spawns are the same
and i wasnt talking ashlands specifically, i meant overall
what are u trying to say here
i don't think the issue is the spawn rate so much as the difficulty in maintaining an accessible beachhead
i don't think the mobs spawn more with a server
the spawn rate felt like an issue on solo as well
having to rebuild a new boat feels really punishing
would defo say the spawn rate consindering the enemies attack at the same time anyway so its straight up impossible to parry all of them ,and killing all of them 1 by 1 would literally take me so much time that new mobs would already spawn
the only problem with melee on a server is if there is bad de sync
add the lag to that and bawau
the mage abilities become really key in ashlands
ye like why, why not just make melee playable, i really dont like a mage playstyle
Melee is playable, I did it in ashlands
also nvm they become stronger
solo is infinitely easier man
4% more damage and 30% more health per nearby player isnt a significant difference, especially if all players are helping in the fight.
also tell me how many portals u had to build, like 60? i legit built like 10 across the entire 6 previous biomes
and doesnt that scaling come from players present
Only players nearby, not everyone logged in
yeah exactly
in ashlands i just have to place it every 5 meters
either way ashlands is hot trash and needs balance changes
Why would I need 60?
im not sure how the portals help in managing a huge flock of mobs
for each fort and each flametal pile cause
so i can just escape to base easly? wdym man
hello new players can someone teach how to play hehe
just enjoy until you reach ashlands, then quit
Go to #valheim-help because people are venting here
can i join people world ?
just run around and figure shit out 😎
here's what i learned in ashlands:
- don't run unless it's really time to run
- if it's time to run, running to your portal is maybe a bad idea
- stay near a landmark when fighting so you can not keep dragging new mobs in
- keep healing mead on you
- Eikthyr is really clutch all the time
- Taking a fortress makes everything much easier
if you are friends with the player or join a random non-passworded world, yes
Per player.
i legit forgot throughout my 200+ hrs that u can join random worlds 💀
What do you mean? The wiki states that it’s only affected by players within 100 meters.
if it's modded you will have to install all the mods the host has unless some are client side, although i haven't seen client side valheim mods
I mean it's 4% and 30% per player above 1 (up to 5, iirc) within 100m.
There isn’t a cap, every extra player increases it
perhaps, but the point is that the increases are per player within the 100m radius
I think the wiki says otherwise
That's what I thought, but decided not to argue a moot point.
aanyone wanna try joining my dedicated server to test if it works
update: found a conclusion. if the fire dot was applied on stagger the enhanced dot persists till it runs out. if an enemy was staggered during fire dot it's still the same. assume it's the same for poison too
Hello! Does anyone know if it's possible to get/trade Odin Cape and Odin Hood from other player? I like rare stuff but I was late to Valheim.
DLC items can only be equipped if you own the dlc so you can’t use them.
Oof rip. Do you know if it's possible to put them on armour stand for non-DLC player?
It’s probably possible, yes. I think you can spawn them with commands if nobody is able to give them to you.
Thanks you, I will try to get the real stuff from someone.
when i complain and denied that i complained. lol
Is it still possible to purchase the DLC that enables them?
It’s never been purchasable, it was given to beta players
ah! nice.
is the bronze axe better than the sword? or is it only stronger because at this point my axe level is way higher than swords
and the ategier thing seems way better too, other than not being able to sheild
Axes deal more damage but attack slower, atgeirs deal more damage cost a lot of stamina to use effectively
right when we were bout to beat a one star morgen, there comes a fallen valkyrie... fml
we had to flee to the portal, so hopefully we won't get spawn camped once we're ready
bonemass also ran out right when the valkyrie spawned
i hate charred marksmans
my barrier can withstand a few arrows, but theyre too accurate
especially with their arrow rain thing
ig at that point its up to personal preference
swords probably hit more afrer parries, and with ategeir you cant sheild
Yes it does, this game is balanced pretty well so you can play whatever you find the most fun
should i work around weaknesses?
like bring an ategire and sword to hit more weakness, and a mase as well
I usually bring a mace and axe into swamp because most things there are neutral or weak to blunt, the only exception being abominations which take the most damage from slash
Many swamp enemies resist pierce, but the main enemy there is the draugr and the bronze atgeir can stagger them in one secondary attack
The bronze axe should be made anyways because you need it for birch and ancient trees
I've essentially soloed the ashlands 3 times (2nd and 3rd times were just re-acquiring ashlands gear starting with mistlands gear), played some to help others in a group of 3 as well... I have never encountered a mob like this.
If you have 2 valkyries, generally you should have killed one before the 2nd was in range. They don't just hang out near each other generally speaking.
Same for morgens - if you kite them and collect some, sure. But otherwise more than 2 is extremely rare. As-is, I've killed a ton of morgens and have only seen 1 star, and 0 2 stars.
If you're being honest, this is extraordinarily rare and should be nearly impossible to have happen to you. If you're doing mining, you should make sure the area is extremely clear within a large radius, and it's best to go for deposits that are very close to land (which you cleared).
Also, as far as I'm aware, spawn rate doesn't change in multiplayer (but enemies have more health and do a bit more damage to you).
I played Ashlands melee running 3 Ashlands health food and no stamina meads, stamina is fine if you manage it right
if you ever want a battle buddy https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1266907563937632276 😉
Ashlands is my favorite biome in the game
ashlands seems pretty alright. still need to do it on my own though
been a tough scavenger hunt trying to find mines for black cores
i love the weird biome thing in the ocean
Dunno bout y'all, but I've been solo this whole damn time. And blind. Maybe it's a skill issue, but the lava makes me wanna perish irl
how sometimes it'll say black forest or plains instead of ocean
it's a heavy storm in ocean and then it turns black forest for a bit and it's all peacefull and great, and then raging storm once again
clearly i was just in the eye of a hurricane 😏
lava issue
fight fire with.. maybe ice
hello, where can I find a public server where I can play with people?
Is axe damage slash or chop?
both, chop only damages trees and structures tho
I mean the lava lakes in the Asslands, I always manage to get enemies below the basalt bomb platform. And they just hit me from where I can't fight back and knock me into the lava.
ok chop to non-enemies, slash to enemies, got it
true. we do hate that
i haven't had that, tho im sure my friends and i will soon 😏
they also do slash to the "non-enemies" as you´ve put it 🙂 the easiest example would be wood structures, if you look at wiki you will see that they are weak to chop but also take slash https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Wood_structures
looking forward to the terrible corpse runs
oh slash/chop to trees/inanimate objects. Slash only to enemies
after a day of searching for an infested mine to find maybe 1 or 2 black cores for a shield gen and the future needs, i found 5 near the entrance
after i had to brawl and corpse run with a 2 star seeker guard. oh i love valheim
why is the valheim community so flakey?
no one wants to hang around in a server for more than a few days
make that 11 black cores. and also a handful of 2 star ticks and 2 star seeker with a pinch of 1 star seeker
My Kids and I beat Yagluth!!
skål!!!
i finally got this moder down, good lord
i mean, it's not the whole community
look how many people are in this discord and then look at how many people have played your server
you just havent found the right people
staff of fracturing kinda sucks ngl
it prob shouldnt be outclassed by weapons of the past area
Hi. Anyone know if the mysterious locations spawns more ”parts” so you can make more than one sword in one world?
yeah i kinda feel that
great for camera shake paloozah lmao
i think it is technically stronger by a bit, though by the time u get it the fire staves are pretty weak vs the charred, let alone it being the big shotgun
not sure if it's better at crowd control than staff of ember though
manage to trap every single ashlands enemy i could ie: 2 charred archers and warriors, 1 morgen,1 bonemaw, 2 lavaslimes, and a fallen valkerie
Anyone looking for an adult vanilla server? I'm starting one soon.
also 2 charred twitchers
Wondering if I should keep my root armor or upgrade to wolf armor? Just started mountains
wolf armor or fenris is better than root
You could keep the harnesk for pierce resistance but you’ll need to avoid fire damage
but for plains/mistlands u gonna need to keep the harnesk
as mountains dont have any mobs with pierce dmg (if i dont count skelly archers)
actually... one type of golem has pierce dmg
Morgen gjall.
You should make a different chestplate for any fuling camps you raid before you have barley, otherwise the shamans may kill you in one hit
shamans are quite easy to dodge in the open field + one shottable with bow from a far before they aggro
i dont think shottable is a word
We do get the meaning though.
finally in the ashlands
does that mod that allows you to build your own boght work on multiplayer dedicated servers I have a dedicated server but we really can't get any of the mods to work any recommendations would be much appreciated
Don't think anyone answered but no, one sword per world unless you have modifiers on.
I reckon it's 100% a word, I've heard it used and used it myself.
it is 100% nota word
that moonshine was shootable
#mods-discussion / #dedicated-server might be a better place to ask that specific question.
just cause you heard people use a word they made up on the spot cause they forgot the real word does not make it a word
Are we talking 1900 dictionary, or modern day?
oo ty
i litterally tried google on it, gues what google thought, you mean short table?
Shootable is a word, shottable not so sure about that one.
I mean shottable makes more sense than skibidi rizz...
true
water bottles are very Shootable when you have a shotgun
Anything makes more sense than skibidi, doesn't make it a word though.
ill ignore you said the last part and 100% dissagree on the first part
justifying your word makes more sense than some other made up word does not make you right
Shootable does exist, shottable on the other hand.
isent
usent
Lol, urban dictionary as a credible source.
man, I wish we had more battleaxes
and it did more chop damage compared to regular axes
personally ive never used battleaxes in this game
Why would it? You're compromising a tool to make it a weapon as well.
ive made the crystal battle axe cause it looked cool but did not even use it
yeah but if you get your battle ax up high enough blocking and attacking you save that extra space
i should mention i dislike two-handed weapons very much
I mean, regular axes already have that caveat, with how slow battleaxes are compared to regular axes, I expected it did more on those department
anybody want to participate in a live stream Adventure on a private server
the only ones ill likely use are greatswords and the sledge hammers (only to cheese some enemies though)
You want to live stream with strangers? Oof.
that's the fun of it
I have hammers with me because they're just nifty in a pinch, and I wanted to make battleaxes better at least, they're really fun to use
But a battleaxe is harder to aim consistently at the same spot and is shaped differently than a wood-chopping axe.
untill you get banned cause one of the strangers said the N-word or many other banned topics on the stream
I rented a server for $10 a month from Frost Pine gaming
lol
that's what disclaimers are for
we just had our first Viking raid party the other day
so that explains ur weird meme lol
I can tell you it was better than watching neebs gaming do it
Disclaimers don't prevent TOS breaches.
its privit u gota meat and greet
now you're just getting technical to be argumentative do you just want an argument or what
I'm just going to gracefully walk away from this table don't need to inadvertently offend you find Folk
yes it does
longhouse issue solved 😎
anyone here do like a one map for just building shit on creative so that on normal runs u dont have to obsess about buildings ?
(i wanna know if it works out like that psychologically 💀 )
Sure, plenty.
haven't been around since the virus attack, oof
Howdy Officer
can't believe I have the newcomer icon now
nop
Nah. Never used creative mode. Feels it’s a slippery slope if you start messing with stuff like that and then all of a sudden you can’t play normal mode again 😅
hey guys, any news on what's next after Ashlands?
It could be Deep North (the final biome) or a smaller update, we don't know yet
No idea. Haven’t even been to ashlands yet 😂
final biome? don't they want to update ocean biome too?
me neither tbh, im waiting for the game to be fully finished before playing again
Why wait that long? It's probably going to be at least another year until it's finished.
because I hate contimainate my seed or having to start over everytime
I want the fully finished experience
I’ve restarted the same seed after every new boss so far and it has never been any issues for me atleast. But have fun waiting for a very long time I guess 🙂
i hope i wont have to restart my seed as im building a town there
not gonna explore too much in case of some ocean update
There’s sooo much ocean that I feel it would take an insane amount of time to explore every little bit of it 😅
The ocean covers the whole world so not exploring too much doesn't really do anything.
Doubt it’s all connected as in one single “instance” but who knows
It is an all divided up by chunks, isn't it @near furnace ?
its same as in minecraft
That means nothing to me
pretty much yeah
anything unexplored is not generated
With what
god morgen gjall
😭 whyyyyyyy
Because we can.

i hope that i will not need to expirience any more gjall raids
Kill the queen to get rid of it.
based on the old scrapped roadmap they mentioned new sea monsters, possible new boats and enemy ships
besides, sea as it is now is pretty empty
Yeah true, only sea serpents
That would be amazing
sadly to kill the queen i have to spend time in the mistlands, this time i just wont built a mistlands base before i kill the queen so no problem
Build a base but have less than 3 player base items around at all times.
i'll just build a small base where i gather ressources from and won't spend much time there
everything in mistlands that i need elsewhere is luckely teleportable
Blob raid puts a dent in the wolves. Poor wolves.
Do you need to beat bonemass to mine silver?
No but it makes it much easier to find.
You can go into the mountains find obsidian and go higher than that.
Start smacking the ground with a stagbreaker and keep going till you see too hard message pop up, somewhere under there is silver.
With bonemass item you get pings guiding you to the silver.
Do you know if the hammer smash thing still works?
I was gonna ask that but thank you haha
Time to wait a few minutes for ashlands to load huh
ehh it loaded less go!
omg a bone pile?!
wait why no ore piles yet
NOOOO!
This is a noob question, is your character saved to the world you play or on your local?
The characters are saved locally and can be used on any world
Ok thanks I am transitioning from 7d2d and wasn’t sure how it worked on this game. Just creating a dedicated server for friends and family, thanks
Well, they can be saved on the cloud. But they are saved separately, which is the important thing.
Exactly. The player owns there own characters. Not the server owner
#building-screenshots message am proud
idk if i should put a cooking rack also on the first hearth, middle hearth, living room hearth
Looks great! Nice build.
thanks ! took me a LONG time to start understanding the building aspect of the game properly
the first 200hrs i just built huts pretty much 💀
never realized it to that extend, that's smart
bruh i hate swamp so much
Swamp is the best biome
i just wanna skip it...... i always just wanna skip it
what 😭 arguably the worst 😭 constant debuff 😭 abominations 😭 slimes 😭
whats the best way to dmg abos ?
A sword or axe
axe
best way? trap it on a sirtling spawn
Easiest way to kill abominations is with a bonfire. Carry a bonfire on you, drop it, light it, and the abom will walk right over it. Then just run in a circle around him. He will turn to face you and burn to death. Super easy and no damage taken. Sometimes he gets pissed from burning and will run away and you have to go chase him down to finish him but it is the safest easiest way to handle them. If you are good with parrying while you have them over the fire, parry the swing and they take massive damage from the parry bonus while burning. Speeds up the process if you are good at parrying.
portable geyser. nice
where do i find nice little dedicated servers where people vc maybe?
#1024264966712340510 i suppose
the last dedicated server was in 27th of july🪹

the last new thread posted in there? That was only a couple of weeks ago so...
12 new threads in the last 24 hours...
then I have no idea what they're on about
They might have meant the last thread posting/advertising an actual dedicated server? Since a lot of people in there make posts looking for groups and not necessarily hosting? I think?
Hello! do anybody want to play in a small party?
Gjall raids? I just killed the Queen but never had one in my life
So just how imporetant are skills?
im struggling a bit more than i would like and i am wondering if it because my skills are doing poorly or if its a skill issue on my part
the devs regularly test balance with characters with 0 skill -- they're not necessary, just something that's nice to have and make things slightly easier
twaeked down the difficulty to normal for swamp, now im actually not dying every 5minutes
anyone know if the armoury mod adds a iron claymore ? i havent seem to unlocked such atleast yet
Looking for a group pm me
thinking if i should turn this into a bow-only run
tho bonemass.... 😭 would be pain
build a platform and crack open a cold one
its not hard but takes like half an hour
(and prepare a fire and like 9 stacls of wood to craft arrows)
This would also make for a good way to get your bow levels up for the rest of the playthrough
😭
it turns out im doing a clubs run after all, thanks to a mod
iron mace destroys bonemass
Try translating eitr and hear how to pronounce it
eye tar
Eeaytee-YARR!
I be a clown pirate
Opinions vary, but the reality is that weapon related skills add +141% attack at level 100 vs. level 0. That is, if you have 100 damage on a sword slash at level 0, you'd have 241 damage at level 100. This is a massive increase based solely on the skill (https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Skills).
As for what's "balanced" or what the skills "should" be for a given point in the game: unless someone can tell you which skills, which levels, what gaming experience, what play style, which biomes, and what duration of time constitutes "balance", they are probably just making a vague vibes-based statement on "balance". Feel free to curate your own vibes.
If you want skills to be higher for fun, for your playstyle, whatever, it is relatively easy to use spawners and weak weapons to gain levels on things. Do what's most fun for you.
Hi, does anyone know why the Mistwalker slows enemies in the ashlands for just such a short duration?
And for things like bloodmagic or bows leveling skill from 0 to 60+ means turning them from nigh useless to almost a little too strong
Keep in mind this is slightly backwards. Your weapon skill increases damage up to the weapon's maximum potential, it doesn't start there.
dose a black metal axe let you mine anything new ?
no?
It has to do with mob level and the biome. Even the frost staff does not slow that long. The slow is more than sufficient if you get good at circling while you attack, you can pretty much always be on their side or almost behind them which makes killing with that sword way OP. They are trying to turn to get to you but just can't keep up. Takes some practice but any addtional slow would just be silly.
Why silly? because not necessary?
It would make the game so sadly easy if it slowed more. The AI programing to turn to face you means you are always getting free hits from behind if the slow was longer. Would require revamping the AI which is not going to happen.
if you think the staff of fracturing is weak, turn camera shake off.
your life will be changed
is Odin coming after the Deep North boss to take us to Valhalla?
I doubt he'll do it himself, he'll probably send another valkyrie.
he said he will come himself on a runestone from Astrid
"Slay the Forsaken. Chain their heads. I will come."
He never said he’d take us to Valhalla, he’s probably just going to thank us then magic himself away
true but it would be cool if he will take us to Valhalla after all we've endured
yeah just for clarification: this was just a toy example with nice numbers so people could understand it more easily. Percentages can be confusing for a lot of people, so that was the motivation
i would love it if we would get more lore, like some animated cutscenes ,but i guess thats too much work
hey what is with those meteors that come from the sky in ashlands can they be like spawned in
Will the game go on sale soon? I want to play it with my friend but I can't buy it right now.
Yeah he seems like the type who knows how to delegate / get others to do his dirty work
Agreed; he's too busy watching us from the shadows.
Do you have to be near water to make a pond???
you have to be low enough, water is present through out the whole world on the same height
That area is way away from water then
XD I dug down as deep as I could go and didn't ever hit water
It's ok there's a river near the farmland I have earmarked so maybe I can make one there.
You can do the whole game bow thats what i do, you only need a level 4 wooden club for bonemass, 7 swings roll and repeat.
:x you didn't use a mace?
o.o it's the same blunt damage but higher though?
yea a level 4 wooden club kills him fast since hes weak to blunt
oh you guys don't actually sit and play for multiple game days then o.o?
I normally skip all of bronze, only make an axe with it
.> I was talking about Iron mace but ok...
I get max lvl troll armor and i dont make upgrade armor till padded
no need for an iron mace, i use bow
o.o;;;;;;;;;;;; Yeah I'm not gonna sit for an hour with a bow...
once you get bow to like 50-60 you start killing fast
bow its probably one of the best weapons in the game
use it from the start and its leveled fast
still not going to use it ~.~ I don't like them they take too long to aim and charge.
Ok, i was responding to someone who wanted to do a bow playthrough, you can play however you want
I give you guys props for that too. I just haven't found one that is fast enough fire, yet.
you also realize the charge part gets faster as you level it..
Maybe because I use a PC controller.
its gets so fast the framerate cant keep up
I dunno but I've never been able to hit anything with one.
They usually move, before I can fire.
different bows dont have different times to draw, thats entirely reliant on lvl of the bow skill 😉
the bow wrecks stuff once you learn to use it
XD Then that's all you guys haha. I might try it one day, but I don't have patience for it. Plus... I saw a video of someone trying that with Bonemass...
They hit 2s on him with arrows
yea bonemass is a no go, need blunt
thats because he is very resistant to pierce 🙂
I was like omg x.x who suggested to that dude that you could build a tree fort and shoot Bonemass from above
oh, thats not strategy for defeating him but for leveling up the bow skill 🙂
You'd need XD like 500 arrows and a whole lot of patience.
bonemass fight is very predictable, you can hit him 7 times, 8 if youre really good then you jsut roll forward. You could kill him naked with a club and psn potion
psn potion what?
poison potion i assume
the psn resistance potion
.> oh the meads
but i have never seen shortening the word poison to psn
oh.. its common in other games
I've never seen that one either and XD I've played quite a few MMOs
yea, use it a lot. I may be older than you guys who knows. Maybe its my age showing
oh im 37.. weird we use Psn in Wow and Diablo games a lot
I don't play Diablo
Everquest, Everquest2, ick WoW once, Warframe, Elderscrolls Online, Neverwinter Online, Lord of the Rings Online, D & D Online, Runescape, Phantasy Star Online, Final Fantasy XI, Ragnarok Online, Ragnarok 2 Online, Genshin Impact, Honkai 3rd Impact, and I think I even played Mabinogi a few times. @tidal pier
XD I get asked a lot so I figured I might as well just say it.
I was like damn theyre typing a lot
It's a long list XD
Ive always stuck with the same games, Wow, Diablo 2 / Diablo 3 / Diablo 4 / POE / GW2
I got out of WoW because of pvp XD and Barrens chat... Need I say more?
Did you play on a pvp server? What do you mean Barrens, like you hated it or mad they took it away
we were expecting a paragraf, and we were not disappointed 😄 (more impressed really)
... omg XD I played WoW when there was only ONE expansion lol left after the second was a thing.
Barrens chat was well... The red light district :x
Damn ive played since the first day it came out and i still play haha
I mean it too XD every time you go through there they were doing stuff that was tmi or arguing over politics...
You can mute that chat lol..
It was the pvp that turned me off though... People actually legit hunted others down irl over capture the flag... I was like why????
you can always play pve servers
Bruh I play Valheim to escape WoW, can you take it to another channel please. You'll make me resubsucribe thru addiction. Thank you.
That didn't used to be a thing though as far as I knew.
its the perfect time to come back lol
Idc, this is Valheim Chat 🙂
k
@rotund dust Not trying to. We were talking about abbreviations, originally XD
lol its all good..
when people use weird ones I've never seen, I have to ask what they mean.
weird lol.. psn totally makes sense
but it also sounded like you were talking about Playstation XD
Becareful mentioning playstation here you might make Andre subscribe for PSN Plus due to his addictions
o.o; That only works, if you have the platform though...
Valheim is out on both too isn't it?
i believe so
I'm a Steam player, but I use the PC controller. Keyboard and mouse doesn't work well for people who are left handed ^.^ especially when not every game can change keybindings.
got those arithis fangers
@merry pebbleremind me at some point and I'll show you my new build sites :3 I made a Funland2 with my little Anjel character. Instead of villages, I'm separating things into multiple locations. Residential, Production, and the Farm. Not quite finished with any of them, yet, but I am kinda proud of my home cottage :3
yeah, i left mouse. so i use xbox controller plus keyboard for stuff.
anyone play on hardmode and have any luck at all killing stone golems? Maxed out mountains biome gear and blocking is a joke and 1 mistake and you are 1 shot. (yes "hard" mode but still seems rough for hardmode even considering how easy everything else has been
iron mace
- dodge, can still staggerlock with decent mace levels and back to back mace specials
@shy marlin Are they like Bonemass and can't have slash damage at all? I mean the only heavier damage weapon would be an battle axe right? It's slow as fart though.
If dodge is the roll move, his two hand attack hits me anyway
you need about 160 HP to have any chance of parrying them with a lvl 3 silver shield (iirc)
@keen cliffdid you change your name font?
160? damn im at like 130
Not really sure what you're asking? But stone golems are resistant to pierce and slash, but neutral to blunt and stagger, which makes the iron mace a good option @carmine kestrel
I do have lvl 3 silver shielf tho
@shy marlin I was just asking if a maxed Iron Battle wouldn't do the trick too?
I mean, it could do the trick, just wouldn't be fun
Anything is possible as long as you just don't get hit 4head
if you have some block skill the necessary HP might drop closer to 150, anyways, you probably need to eat 3 HP foods
Deer Stew, Turnip Stew, and what Minced Meat?
o.o you have to grind them.
yes, specially hard mode and very hard modes which makes block/parrying more and more unviable
There was someone here that speed runs, but I dunno if they kill the stone golems
if they speed run there isn't much of a reason to kill golems
just let them distract some drakes and get your silver
the trick to high skills is not dying, I sometimes do a play through where I pretend iM on permadeath, that helps somewhat
I could be wrong but I thought they cannot mine silver
I have no idea, I haven't really watched any valheim speed runs
I have, and speedrunners do not kill golems, no need
No I just said someone else might have a better strategy, if they had to kill them in a speed run
they might go there just to kill moder, either way, I don't see much of a point in killing golems, drakes will occupy them forever
I haven't watched any of those videos either. I wasn't sure if killing them was required.
some speedrunners also kill Moder before Bonemass, to avoid some events
so the goal of the speedrun is to kill all bosses?
otherwise they could've skipped bonemass altogether I imagine
bonemass enables so many raids
even if you have raids turned off :x I didn't want them lol.
Moder is the boss after Bonemass I'd argue none of them are super difficult, but if a speedrunner kills Moder first it avoids the wolf event triggering in the mountains biome unless they go back to a mountain after killing bonemass, it will then only trigger in plains
Consequences of killing bonemass and moder:
Bonemass:
Disables Draugr + skeleton raid (5 first biomes)
Enables Drake raid (5 first biomes)
Enables Blob raid (5 first biomes, except mountains)
Enables Skeleton raid (6 first biomes, except mountains)
Enables Wolf raids (mountains and plains)
Enables Surtling raids (also require killing surtlings) - (5 first biomes, except mountains)
Enables Bat raid (also require killing bats) - (6 first biomes)
Enables Skeletons night spawns (5 first biomes)
Moder:
Disables Drake raid (5 first biomes)
Enable Fuling raid (meadows, black forest and plains)
and if they don't visit Plains and kill also Yagluth before Bonemass, and not enter mountains or plains after bonemas kill they completely skip the wolf event
as that event is only in mountains and plains
o.o; if you have raids turned off though... You're safe right?
yes of course
ok good XD then I'll just kill them, when I get to them.
you'll be safe from raids, but not safe from night spawns that get activated after certain bosses are killed
you mean the mobs you have wipe out, after dawn?
tbh only moder doesn't affect night spawns
raids start as soon as you enter the world, on normal world modifiers 20% chance every 46 minute
true
I only get grey brutes showing up on Funland and Starter.
Elder's pets I mean pests ^.^
if Eikthyr is alive, you can get "Eikthyr rallies the creatures of the forest" if he is dead you get "Forest is moving" which is greydwarves
oh so that's not elder's doing then
or if raids turned off you get greydwarves at night if Eik is dead
XD I was like I really hate you dude for sending brutes to me.
yeah, i asked a mod to change my name on this discord server. added the rock cheese emojis
nah it is him because that raid ends if Elder is dead, replaced with swamp events
gotta say, there's something super satisfying about digging a perfectly straight max depth trench
killing the elder does enables greydwarf shamans and brutes to spawn at night
can any experianced player help me learn the game better and play with me for an hour or two?
just looking to get armor and better weapons and learn the ropes
@slim imp So that is elder's doing then D:
yes
and you get swamp things from Bonemass if you kill Elder
