I imagine it suffers even more from the insane movement speed penalty and the slow attack speed on it in the ashlands lol, good luck though, would love to hear how it does š
If you already know what the mats are for something, then it's not really an issue, but if you've forgotten the mats and need to find it in the list or it's some new item or you're just newer to the game it can be difficult - I know it was a pain point for my friends and I as we went through our Ashlands playthrough, finding all the new Ashlands stuff to craft
oh, 100%. That's why I haven't done it yet. I'm not that much of a masochist š
Generally, this is probably true. I found 2 last night, one was a complete waste of time (small, no cores), the other was quite large
Crystal battle axe has higher knockback and stagger than silver sword and mistwalker
Doesn't really matter when it hits so slow and has the massive movement penalty
Frostner has more knockback but reduced reach.
The only thing that harms CB is the move penalty, which should certainly be reduced
Nah attack speed gotta be up there, imagine fighting the hoards with it, it'd be super rough
I think the move speed penalty is fair for heavier weapons and they should be balanced around that
It's crazy that atgeir is 5% and crystal battle axe isn't
I almost always main spears, so ashlands makes me sad
Atgeirs are very stamina heavy
they really aren't
Atgeirs don't let you carry a buckler
Atgeir secondary is very good for staggering so you don't need to parry with one
There's that
Does Ashlands not have a spear either?
it does
Anyone wanna play Valheim? I have a character up to the mountains already.
People in #1024264966712340510 might want to
Thank you, new to the server. Much appreciated.
something something pierce resistance, something something spears
for the love of Odin, let us pick up chickens in the next patch
Movement penalty is much worse than the slow attack, and it's literally only the first one, second and third aren't really slow
And still, it's a matter of timing and positioning, just like any other melee weapon.
Finally made it back to Mistlands. Definitely going with Himminafl instead of Mistwalker this time. Atgeir's secondary is just so OP.
My first few playthroughs were all sword & board. This time it's mostly been Atgeir, except for Frostner, which honestly felt bad to switch to. Atgeirs are just insane on groups and 1v1. The stagger & minimal movement penalty is bonkers.
Mistwalker is very good in ashlands so you might still want to make one
I can see the trade-off with pierce from Himminafl being bad and Frost from Mistwalker being good there, but I keep hearing Ashlands is flooded with spawners & swords just can't manage crowds the same.
Himmin still dominates in the ashlands, it's a good choice
I'm anticipating it being like going to the Plains for the first time and being quickly overwhelmed by a big village lol. Definitely want an Atgeir for that kind of experience. My partner is doing Knives & can pick off the tougher guys while I deal with the crowds.
So if I wanted to have some casual people to play with on a server I'm hosting, how would I go about that? <<
I don't really want to join a random public server, because I may not play that much.
I'll check it out after lunch. (Thanks.)
Did they change crafting costs with the Ashlands update? I'm not sure if I'm just crazy but I don't recall Sap Extractors costing Black Metal.
Nvm, I guess my memory is just really bad lol.
probably, I was playing mistlands during ashland early access and had to spend black metal before the update
Always black metal
I didn't see it in the patch notes but did they update the sounds? The sound of landing on a wooden building piece is a very hearty thud now, whereas before I remember it being much more of a light tap. Reminds me of Legend of Zelda, I like it
I have a question
The valheim boss has 15000 hp or 25000 hp? Because me and my friend killed it so fast, so I think it has only 15000 hp, but the wiki says that it has 25000 hp, can someone explain it to me?
Which boss? The Ashlands boss? The Queen?
the ashlands boss my bad
I feel like ashlands boss might could use a buff, my friends and I also killed it fairly quickly and easily
The Queen has 12500, so I think it's likely it has 25000 like the wiki says. We do a lot more DPS with Ashlands weapons, so it might feel a bit faster because of that.
it's probably the mp scaling that could use the buff
every boss is significantly easier mp vs solo
Curious what numbers others are seeing but after clearing 10 fortresses (out of the 20 that spawn on every map) I have obtained 7 blood stones, 9 iolite, and 13 jade.
Frankly it feels low. The sample size is really small here but the reality is that everyone will be working with the same low number of chances.
He definitely doesnt need a buff, singleplayer melee is quite slow because he spams attacks that make the player move
queen at 12.5k took quite a while tho
but the queen is resistant to almost everything
did you max your weapons?
duh
but bro, is a BOSS it has to be as hard as possible, ngl
I think making a fight longer is the worst way to make it harder
just doesn't sound right that a boss with double the health would die relatively quickly while the previous one with less hp takes longer
although the buff to weapons is a bit more significant than usual due to the stones, it shouldn't be that massive of a difference
the thing with the queen is that the arena in which you are fighting is "different" is not the queen, it“s the arena that makes longer the battle
also adds. Fader takes care of his own adds.
You lose a lot of time (& dps) handling them in the queen fight though.
its more like queen needs a nerf
no she doesn't, the fight is perfectly manageable. Why would she need a nerf?
queen isnt even that hard, just takes a million years
took me about 15 minutes with magic, solo
hm ok
bring ooze/bile bombs for the broods and a proactive control weapon like embers/himmin for seekers and queen fight is very manageable
which lightsource is best to bring when exploring ashlands?
bringing lightwisp does virtually nothing
during the day no light source is needed
daytime is fine, what im asking is for night time.
lantern is probably the only other option unless you want to burn through torches...
still can't use them during combat tho
ill stick to wisp then, you know how the spawn rate in ashlands go.. its wild
yup... I wouldn't want to risk not having a weapon out at all times
You can if you don't block
The main thing during the Queen fight is doing good dps. She regens about 200hp per minute so the more time you spend running, hiding or killing adds the more of a slog it becomes.
i've been hunting morgen all night,, its effing hard
as a beginner, is a wood shield better than a wood tower shield?
its better because you can parry
somewhat easy to hunt morgen with magic, fairly easy to stay out of attack range and keep attacking
ok
learning how to parry early on is going to help you a lot
parrying has higher block value and stuns the enemy
and bosses cant be parried
you can parry them, they just won't get staggered/stunned
stagger also lets you do double damage
What exactly is the merit behind that you can login to any world with a transferrable character?
I started recently and spent a few hundred hours already just grueling through resource search and gathering just to figure out that instead of sticking by one world, one can login to another world and not care how ugly that world can get from deforesting and bring across metal ingots and ores
but without that stagger, no real reason to parry... (against bosses)
still increases your block value
dodge and you take 0 damage
Tower shields are great for keeping stamina, and normal shields can parry
Both are good, use what you'd rather have
Like why spend hours grinding to replenish your stash of iron when you can transfer materials found in another more plentiful world?
dodge cost is affected by movement speed though so if you're wearing heavy armor + shield it's more expensive than blocking.
you can do that, might be frowned upon on servers though
in that sense its the same system in terraria
If you're wearing heavy armor and using a tower shield you can't parry anyway
does it really matter which world you grind the resources in? The no build cost modifier exists after all.
I'm just not sure why that's in place
I think there should be a constraint that can be set on a world/server that progress can't be transferred in
perfectly fine for solo, but if you plan to bring metal to your world, might as well enable bringing metal through portals, unless you set boundaries and rules for yourself to not skip the travel time of bringing metal back and forth
I asked this in the general channel, but my friends and I are thinking of a hardcore slow run with no portals or maps, and immersive mode and 0.5 resources and max combat slider. Has anybody done this? Specifically I want to know if anybody had issues with resources.
good idea for a new world modifier
As in, was there ever a lack of resources so that the group could no longer build aesthetically, farm sustainably, or had issues with wood or metal etc? I have a builder friend that is worried he can't spam sconces or something.
on my 2nd save I decided that if I bring metal from another world, I have to move my character to the world spawn point and not build a base with a forge too close to it
That way still had to do the voyage back to base, although not as long one
was still 10-15 minutes of sailing tho
thats what I did with my first large building, just straight to another world and back in my base with full stone inventory
Explicitly discarded by devs
I kind of enjoy it most when a game feels like there are strong rules with no exploits
and resource transfer between worlds doesn't seem very fair at all
nor can I think of a situation it should, even with character stats
Or more like smiffe
but with stone and wood don't give a shit, just world swap all the way. can just portal them to me anyway. But now that I have access to stone portals I can move metal everywhere.
Most resources in the game are just extremely plentiful, but finite.
Locking characters to worlds would disallow from transferring resources from other worlds when the ones in a previous world are exhausted
with non metal resources doesn't really matter much if you bring it from another world, it's all plentiful in your own world anyway... but many do not like runing the look of the world they build in
I did have a concern about that, but all that means is making individual worlds self sustainable
by every resource having some factor letting it be renewable
like iron not being finite due to drop chance from a Swamp mob
Hey, I recently bought a Valheim.
hi
I'm in that same area, but I feel that deforesting and replanting should be part of the price
you're not getting a lot of the stuff back you remove...
it starts looking very unauthentic when it's just tree monoculture left.
Do you mean the bushes and natural branch spawns?
and boulders not being replaceable
branches do respawn, so do stones (the small ones that do not require mining) and flint, but don't think anything else does

Also unless those resources are being lost, nothing is really consumed no?
other than crafting tools that might be discarded I guess
only thing you can loose is extra honey when the bees are Not happy
This is my warehouse, what do you think is normal for a beginner? #valheim-public-test message.
and sap when destroying a full extractor
no... if bees are not happy you lose everything you hold dear. The bees remember. Bees do not forgive.
Thanks, thatās interesting. I believe the proc is an additional 75 lightning damage but with the frost, Mistwalker might even be better.
Hey so I got a question
Am I allowed to be annoyed with my idiot friends when they play an idiot frontline while I am also an idiot backline?
Sure
I have been all over the starting island and not found a single beehive...
Check every house. You can also find them in one of the keep types in the black forest, but those are very rare.
Checked every one I've found so far.
I need honey to do Bonemass because I'm bad and need poison potions, but can't find the bees to do it. My old world had dozens of hives. ;-;
you're eating honey at the swamp stage? or do you mean using it as an ingredient
You could always use the map checker program to see if your missing any hives.
You need honey for meads.
well as they are mentioning poison meads....
somehow I read it as poison arrows
oh XD
needing poison resist mead isn't you being bad, the fight is balanced with the expectation that you have it
I think the fewest hives I have ever found in my home meadows was 3. I usually find around 6. So having zero would be extremely rare. I would use the map checker to see what the case for your world is.
Had to use the map. They're clustered around spawn, and almost nowhere on the west side of the island.
I'm over 300 days into my newest play through, and I just found yet another hive last night. š Even when I think I am being thorough, I'm not.
Well, I managed to track down two hives. 1.5x resources, so three bees. That'll be enough to start for now. Once Eikthyr is off cooldown, I can get 2-3 more hives on the west side.
6 hives is plenty for solo games.
i found like 7 before going for elder this playthrough, i am set for the whole game basically š
I may not be solo forever, I'm considering getting 1-2 more people in here.
I am up to 13 or 14, over all. 8 of them were on my home island.
Since I made a small base beforehand in creative with the tech of my old world, then ported it into a server.
Right now its just my wife and I. I might do some server play down the road.
may i ask why this patch getting easy to get burn on campfires like the range is too far even im not step on it already cathes on fires xD ( sorry for my bad english) š
I'd intended that to be the case with my boyfriend, but he's being jealous and petty because he'd rather grind levels for Dawntrail than actually play Valheim with me. <_<
His words, not mine. Apparently, being online for milestone progression and nothing else leaves him feeling envious. So I just said 'screw it' and built a base that he can use when he likes, and I'll keep playing on my own, solo.
I got into the habit of putting up a framework long ago, just to avoid being burned or suffocated. So due to that habit, I have not noticed it being more dangerous.
Amusing thought. Isn't the Sausages food item cannibalism?
The prevailing theory is that they get them from the deer and boar...
draugr are undead so...YEP
well im used to old patch since last play it and cameback again cause got friend but i notice the range to catch fire is not right xD
I canāt lie it took me longer than Iād look to admit to figure out that the reason my furnaces were so slow was because the roof above them was too low so the smoke would congest and then they would turn off for a few seconds
First time I've made them and I just realized where you get them.
For context to before:
One of the lads keeps running into the fray, getting surrounded, parries everything, and somehow lives
The other runs into the ashlands with Onions and Volture meat (when 20 BM meat is just ready to be cooked), only a Slayer and LRipper, then gets upset when he dies
I am a wizard who like fireball, but also tends to get too melee-y when approached, usually losing half health for it
You should get onion boy to be in charge of carrying everything and shooting arrows at the guys that get staggered by parry god
Yeah, I do not buy the deer/boar theory. In part because I have found swamps that do not border a meadows or BF. Yet they still have intestines...
But thatās the thing, better food is available, heās just too slow ig to make any or smthng
Is it cannibalism if theyāre undead though
Thats for you to decide.
Draugur are, as per the mythos, undead vikings.
Meaning they were human, once. I don't know if Valheim Draugur are different or not, they might be some sub-species of the "ancient ones" or however the stones refer to them, meaning they aren't technically human.
well yeah but cannibalism is feeding on the dead
I just prefer not to think about it.
Is it cannibalism if theyāre undead
No, cannibalism is eating your own kind.
They arenāt our kind tho
If they're undead humans, they are.
If
I guess it depends on where you draw the line but alive/dead humans and reanimated corpses I would say thereās a distinction
Itās like the walking dead thing are they really human anymore
not that Iād eat undead meat in real life anyway
Is there a way to just reset an ashlands biome for a server?
I just prefer not to think about it. I'll even pretend that people are right about them gathering it from boar/deer, even if they do not border a biome with them.
thereās commands to clear biome generation but I donāt know them
Some absolute smurf used godmode, flew to every ashlands fortress and raided the chests
I thought cheats weren't enabled on multiplayer servers?
Theyād have to run it in single player
thereās some commands that work on multiplayer still but I donāt think itās ones that affect the world
Which begs the question how someone managed to cheat and fly in a multiplayer server. >>
Some can be enabled. I haven't ran a server in over 15 months. So I don't recall which ones.
We don't have anticheat
Flying is one of them. Not sure about god mode.
Either that, or the blood gems are not in any of the 30 chests I checked when I flew about as admin
gaps in the chest stacks where I guess the gems were, no flametal int hem either
Given my luck with bees?
Only admins could even use a cheat. At least with the service I used.
cheat engine
Not familiar with that.
A real time memory editor
I would think that would be treated like a virus.
Seems pointless the blood gems donāt really seem all that good anyway
lightning is where itās at
Now I just need to wait for honey to be made and mead to ferment.
And I can take another crack at Bonemass and start grinding silver.
I still need to grind iron. Mostly so I don't have to do it later in the game. Even though it would be easier in that gear.
Sword. My boat loaded with my next shipment of iron is inconveniently parked near the boss arena.
I did not plan this out.
Why not move it further away?
Because it's the swamps. By the time I get there and maneuver it out to sea to make a getaway, Bonemass is gonna bop it, twist it, and smack it, and I'll need a new boat.
I parked close to the shore, and it's a Longship, so getting it out is an issue.
He is already spawned?
Yep. Like I said, I pre-established this base with the same general tech I had before I abandoned my old world. So I have a portal there.
That's how I got out when I realized I wasn't going to kill him without some extra prepwork.
Yeah, his being there already does complicate things a bit.
It's fine, I get to chill and enjoy the scenery of my hard work for a bit.
Might take the time waiting on honey and mead to do some forestry and stock my wood piles.
My wife is ex Army, so she likes to use combat engineering to make boss fights as easy as possible.
Since I hate dying, I do it as well.
I spent enough time building my compound.
I don't want to burn more making sniper towers and log traps. <_<
Its a lot less time than earning skill points back.
I realized Bonemass is the lone holdout for getting me to use poison mead
I'm also going to make some medium healing just for good measure.
And a frost resist, to get me through my first bit of mountain exploration.
Alright. Level 3 iron sword, level 3 iron armor and troll cape. 3 poison resistance meads.
Cooked deer meat, berry jam, and sausages for food.
This isn't even hard, this is just tedious...
WOW.
He defaulted to the PORTAL and immediately hit me as I came out.
Well, I'll just have to rebuild it later. Killed him.
Not being able to re-apply potions kind of sucks.
It's actually what killed me the first time, I got poisoned before I could re-apply and was hit with a full poison timer.
Root Harnesk acquired
Now I am ready for the Plains
Now I just need to defeat Moderfucker so I can truly be ready for the Plains.
Maybe try to find Haldor at some point before taking on Yagluth, especially since I've already found Hildr.
do hens have to have a roof over their heads to eat?
ive had mushrooms and carrots down for them but they havent touched them. i dont have a full roof over them either
just a small area with a roof and a fire that a laid the eggs
they won't eat either of those.
In my experience, no
Tragically, that's how I lost a group of chickens
They eat seeds and grains (like wheat or flax)
and dandelions.
ahh google said vegetables.
vegetable seeds would be more precise. I usually feed them carrot seeds, turnip seeds or onion seeds.
ahhhhh
and so will they find their way to the fire with a roof over it to lay their eggs?
lol no. They'll lay wherever they want. You'll have to keep them close to the fire if you want new chickens.
valheim chickens are more stupid than real ones.
i just heard them make love noises xD
i thought chickens dont have seggs
they lay eggs
like IRL, chickens need to be in proximity to one another in order to lay eggs.
Hows everyone doin
welcome to valheim, it gets worse and worse
half the difficulty of difficult is a fliflop between tedium, outright dumb and getting one shot with the best armor on and 200 hp
Deathsquito?
evil bugs
So deathsquitos, then.
They are the worst of it
not necessearly š
But ashlands gets worse
Yea, I'm not really keen on their existence. It feels like a middle finger of difficulty. It's bad enough we can't lock on to enemies so we can backpedal and parry.
some of the mobs can outrun you, even at full sprint with eikthyr
Brutal and unforgiving i don;t mind, I liked dark souls
But the run back to a corpse to claim your things
Siiigh. Now I have to grind up a bunch of silver to take on Moder.
That's always tedious
I don't want to do this solo.
she's not that tough.
What I get annoyed most by is that you cannot block most things
I think it's one of the easier metals to get.
put up a bunch of 5x high earth columns that you can duck behind. She's awful at navigating terrain when she's landed.
I found the worst one is always bronze
Agreed. Most tedious and it's a pain to pop because it's in the ground so much.
Iron is easy when you have a crypt filled swamp and silver may take a while to transport but you can transport huge quantities
Still, I may open up an invitation once I finish some schoolwork. I really don't want to do this solo.
Flametal is the worst
Column sinks into the lava, hostile enemies everywhere
Then a big goddamned screaming fallen valkyrie decides it hates you
Does it return after a while?
Dunno
i dont believe it does
They do not
Sometimes if you die early enough in the process it doesn't go away though
Not sure if you could crack a few columns and portal out to reset the timer
Seems worth an experiment
or just relog if you really want to cheez it by reloading the locationš
i might be wrong but i think they do, now that i think about it, they definetly do come back after a while (dont know how long tho)
Iāve checked wiki and it doesnāt mention anything but I checked leviathans too and they donāt come back
hmm, i mined one collumn and it sunk but after some time it was back where it was.
Why
Why do I press a button and my character sits there with their finger up their ass doing literally nothing
X is to sit
You have found the sit button
I do not, nor have I ever had this problem with a single other game I own
Itās useful for when you have a campfire and are out in the wilderness to get a quick resting bonus
Sitting next to a campfire in the open will allow you to rest
I use it extensively in the beginning to level up my skills fast
how does it help with leveling up skills?
It's also useful to lower your camera to build stuff from below
when you are rested you are leveling faster
Campfire in the middle of nowhere + sit = 8 minute rested bonus for bonus experience
oh, makes sense.
Also, running or doing anything really without rested is super boring... The stamina regen without it is so slow
if you mark them on your map you have little areas spread throughout if you are ever caught out without a rested bonus you can just quickly run to one
Now add being wet = snoozefest
I think itās an important mechanic as it teaches you to be prepared
If you arenāt rested then what are you really doing other than trying to get rested
Yep, rested combined with night spawns kinda gives a rhythm for hunts etc... You have x-amount of time per hunt before you "have" to retreat back to safety or seek shelter
if only you could get rested easily while serpent hunting
You don't have to sleep to get Rested.
Not only do I have to fucking spam a button do get my character to do something, but when my character starts doing something, they are honorbound to finish doing it at the cost of their own life
Oh yeah itās just by the time you find a serpent you are likely to be in the middle of the ocean
Drakkar should have a small cabin or something that let's you get rested lol
I press the button to attach and my character, like, raises their weapon to attack
not, swings, not, hits, prepares to attack
Hold on are you pressing right click, the block button?
are you sure you are playing valheim my friend?
and then I press a completely different button to dodge or block and my character doesn't fucking do anything because they won't stop hitting
You should double check your keybinds, do you share the computer with someone else who could have rearranged things?
No, I already said I do not, have never, and likely will never again have, have had, or will have any even remotely similar problems to this one
I have no idea, are you able to share a video showing the issue?
The problem is exclusively that my character doesn't fucking do anything when I press a button because they won't stop doing the first thing
Even though they're like less than a quarter of the way through doing the first thing
I think what he means is, you cannot stop an attack halfway through to block etc but instead the character insists on finishing up the swing regardless of it being detrimental to their vitality
Oh
not only that, but the attack actively slows you
Yeah you just gotta practise the combat my dude, itāll click eventually
so if you're attacking, you can't block, you can't dodge, you can't even walk to the side
you're just dead
If you attack at the wrong time you are going to get punished
All of this is very normal for games...
No, no it is not
Not in the absolute slightest
Do other games take like 5 seconds straight to attack once?
You're upset that you decided to attack or chop wood and then can't cancel that command?
well... thats just the game mechanic... you have to play with that and its frankly nowhere bad enough to complain about it š (at least i dont remember anyone ever complaining about it here)
which weapon are you using?
Sure
That doesn't happen in Valheim so your description is incorrect, there's an issue on your end, or you'll need to provide a video of what you're referring to because nobody can help with how you're describing it.
I don't see what's so hard to understand
I click and the game basically fucking locks every other input because my character won't stop doing the first thing
The stagbreaker is one of the slowest weapons with a attack speed of 2+ seconds from click to slam
i mean, the slowest weapons are sledges i believe, and i dont think even that is really that slow
You said 5 seconds, which is absurdly long. If you're upset that some animations take 1 second after you clicked the button then maybe this game isn't for you.
...
would you mind sharing video of it in #memes-and-clips ?
Have you ever heard of a thing called language?
I don't think any game which isn't intentionally terrible has ever had a 'fast' weapon which takes 5 seconds straight to attack
It's appropriate for the weapon. Imagine being able to slam everything instantly with those sledges?! š¤£
What weapon are you using @verbal kraken
Yeah, I'm trying to use it to help you out but you're being incredibly vague.
oh yes, i am just saying that even those dont take that long to swing and they are one of if not the slowest weapons in the game
You canāt really animation cancel once you decide to do an input you are locked into it, you need to time your attacks and dodges
100%, completely agree.
Spear
Axe, if I press the throw button and then turn around and then my character throws the spear backwards, like usual
If an attack is really taking a 5 seconds then there's something wrong. If you're exaggerating the time per action then okay, that's fine, but there's nothing anyone can do to help you. You cannot cancel animations in this game so choose your inputs wisely.
spear is one of the quickest weapons... it really doesent take 5 second to finish attack animation...
See, there's a little thing called exaggeration, when someone blows something comically out of proportion for emphasis
that seems to be case here yes, and?
Yeah, it's always good to use exaggeration when describing an issue one has with a video game, that clears things right up.
"I've had to restart the game like 17 times to get it to work" or "That car's been in like 17 accidents"
Or, even, "It takes like five fucking seconds to attack"
Well then, this game just isn't for you and you don't really play a lot of different games if you think a lack of animation canceling is a problem.
It wouldn't even be a problem if not for the fact that enemies love to encircle me like fucking movie villains knocking me to the ground and repeatedly kicking me
Meaning I get attacked like 9 times every second
there are some weapons with less windup or recovery like the daggers or spears
Did you get raided?
No, raids are off
Also, I have 107 games installed on steam
Sounds like another exaggeration.
you have to be reasonable even with exaggerations, if you would say abut sledge "It takes like five fucking seconds to attack" we would understand, but if you are saying it about the second if not the fastest weapon in the game it really didnt make much sense to anyone...
Ah, forgot how well balanced bonemass is. Its just such a great balanced boss /j
Do you have any strategies to cheese bonemass before i turn cheats on?
I'm physically unable to send an image in any relevant channel, so I can't send one
bonemass can be dealt with using an iron mace, using an iron buckler and poison resistance potions
It just takes 2 swings to kill you
Just make a poison resist potion.
why cheese? fully upgrade your iron mace, iron armor and shield, drink poison mead and he is sudenly pretty easy
Ive already done all that
you can parry bonemass's melee attack easily, just monitor your HP
I did bonemass with an iron sword and axe, all I needed was the poison resist and half-decent parry timing.
Alright nevermind, forget i asked. Im just gonna turn cheats on
what part of the fight is problematic for you?
That being said, my main drive has 30.5 out of 222.3 GB free, and my secondary one has 134.9 out of 931.5 GB free
That he's resistant to most things
Ive read the wiki. I know.
you can in #screenshots if its valheim related or if you want to send video of what is happening to you you can in #memes-and-clips
then that's not a problem. just use the mace
Then, and I hate saying this because it's always such a meme and it's never really directly helpful, but.
This sounds like a skill issue.
If you want help, I can make some quick iron gear and come help.
Sure, i dont have the time to grind. I use mostly the bow
yea bow is useless against bonemass, unless you use frost arrows. eitherway, its advisable to go melee on em
yes
If you're just going to cheat him I won't bother, but if you want to take him on legitimately, let me know.
I can assure you it will be a lot more satisfying learning the bosses mechanics and attack patterns and beating him legitimately
I dont like playing with other people but thanks for the offer
ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Nah screw that, im not about to waste hours on this
If you are struggling at any point in the game with an enemy or boss, itās time to step back and reevaluate the situation and see what else you can do to be more well equipped
If you can't handle Bonemass, you aren't going to be able to handle Moder.
Well see
oh no Yagluth will be a pain cuz he's resistant to bows
If i wanted to hate fighting bosses in video games i'd just play dark souls
I don't know how to break it to you, but this game is kind of inspired by Souls games as far as combat is concerned. Might not be directly related, but they're cousins.
I can already tell lol
Combat can be better. Youāre stuck in one perpetual motion. Skyrim got better movement frfr.
My point was, you'll either need to 'git gud' now, or accept playing the game in creative. No harm in that, but.
Monster Hunter World (endgame) is much harder than any Dark Souls, try fighting Tempered Rajang
I find the game really picks up after moder
I can fight enemy mobs just fine, its bosses that need work on. The first 2 are too easy and then there's bonemass
I didnāt really have difficulty just running through most of the content until plains but lack of preparedness will catch up to you
Just use mace and he goes easy
Bonemass is the easiest boss š
just be wise with what movement to use. whether to go with an attack combo with the axes or a quick jab with a spear
not really, but he is not really that bad š
i find bonemass to be easier if there is little lag for me to parry his attack
good thing i had upgraded my pc
Easiest boss in my opinion is Elder. Just stand under his feet and parry his kicks. Or if you aren't that good, block with a tower shield.
The queen in my opinion is hardest cause all the seekers n thatās about it.
Quick question! I just started a new game, but started with Eikthyrs and elders power already enabled. How come?
It feels like scrap iron no longer spawns in sunken crypt chests
Either that or it's much rarer now
Omg the elder took me forever š
could be you're using the wrong character
You keep your last equipped power. Characters carry over their inventories.
Did you use an older character?
I found moder difficult but we had wolves and drakes coming in throughout the fight
Also another thing, making the player fight a melee boss in the swampy terrain which is designed to slow you down. Not great
oh that part gets me angry everytime it happens hahaha
No I deleted my old character. I want to start 100% over
Using the hoe to raise the ground can circumvent that
So make it not swampy?
Just luck of the draw.
Its just a random roll.
To quote a corny 80s cartoon.
YOU. HAVE. THE POWER.
Can I not make a new game, and NOT have my old power or something carry over?
Make a new Character.
@azure zephyr Thats what I did
Did you use fire arrows?
It shouldnt be left up to me and my stone piles to compensate
Was there anything else in your inventory?
@grave wagon No idea. I didnt go into my inventory. I just deleted that new character, currently making another new one to see
This, once again, sounds like a skill issue. Personally I didn't bother terraforming and did just fine, barring when I died because I forgot to refresh poison resistance. That is DESPITE being mobbed by skeletons, Draugur, and two Wraiths once nighttime hit.
Gotcha, hopefully it works this time.
Alright i get it, youre the pro. Im just bad
No, lmao. I'm trash. I can barly parry most attacks. The difference is, you just don't want to put in the time to learn things.
many of the mistakes ive done in my valheim playthroughs were because of lack of preparation
I would argue most deaths happen due to inadequate preparation or carelessness
Frost arrows work best
@grave wagon I think what happened was, I made a new character but went into another world maybe? I didnt notice that those were seperate things. So this time I made a new world too
Glad it's working for you now.
my group just finished mistlands for the first time - without spoiling any Ashlands content, roughly how much room do I need to allocate in my base for any new deployables? generally as much as any other workstation ?
I died in the swamp today a few times because I thought Iād be okay with 60hp 150 stamina, and then another time in a crypt because I jumped into an unexplored part and got put in a corner by 3-4 dragur
Not much.
perfect! thanks
@tiny tiger I guess u NotGod?
It is for this reason I will say one word:
Ategir.
Spin to win.
not that much more. there are some new upgrades for your blackforge and other things, galdr table. there isnt much
Iām challenging myself to use sword and knife only on this character
you can keep the blast furnaces too
also the ||new portals are useful, and they're large||
There will be some optional things and depending on your setup there might be some need to restructure some stuff but none if it should be a big deal.
I'm putting off schoolwork and tracking down a mountain biome just because I don't want to deal with building an outpost for my ship. I can't imagine how painful Ashlands is going to be for me.
Hey dude donāt let the game get in the way of schoolwork, the game has alot longer shelf life
you'll definitely have a nice welcome when you hop on the land :) by the char-boys (mobs)
I'm in week 16 of 16 of my second semester of SDI, I need the distraction.
i can only imagine the Deep North food you'll get
None.
deep north lobscouse or smth
I'd be surprised if there were any plant-based foods. I expect it'll all be meats, and you'll need to hunt some pretty gnarly animals to get the best.
I would like to see paint introduced, though.
IDK about that. The Elder is very weak to fire. Frost works well against Bonemass.
Can you even reliably get frost arrows for Bonemass?
I guess you might be able to craft the frost hammer if you get lucky.
if you make frost resistance potions early on
Thatās what I said. Frost works best against bonemass š.
also honestly, i have never seen myself use frostner. mostly it has been the sword
Same
Once you get frost resistance. Drakes aren't that hard to kill. Its risky, though. If you run into wolves, especially.
^ exactly, frost potions and iron armor can get you far in the mountains in the iron age, so you can fight Bonemass with frost arrows
I use like half the weapons. I still craft them all for the weapon wall to š
Them new weapons are great šŖš½
You initially said the Elder. I double checked.
I tried doing the ranged game the first time I killed him, only to realize how easy he was to parry or dodge through for a melee kill.
Big fax on that one. I went back to kill the bosses for their trophies and bonemass is harder than I remember š
Donāt parry bosses, it uses more stamina than rolling and wont stagger the boss
I hate to say it, but bows feel like a bit of a noob trap for this game. They're useful for hunting and the occasional bit of exploration, but a lot of bosses seem overly resistant to their use.
A weapon doesnāt need to kill bosses well to be good
I kinda wish there was a stagbreaker/sledge-like tool that allowed me to harvest vegetables en-masse
Bows use stamina so Iām happy about the crossbow additions
When your progression is tied to boss kills, if you go all in on a weapon that can't be reliably effective, it does matter.
Nobody should be relying on a single damage type
Fire arrows work for Elder, but frost arrows can't be reliably farmed for Bonemass, and I'm not sure what Moder's deal is since I haven't fought her yet, but I assume Swolnir is going to be resistant to them, as well.
Iām not a fan how upgrading weapons dosent effect the damage percentage as much as Iād like. Like upgrade it to get +2 or +10 damage is crazy.
Pretty sure it mostly affects durability.
My level 3 pick breaks far more slowly than it did at level 1.
š¤
The durability increase is the important part
Well yea but i just think it needs to do more damage than the +2 š¤·š½āāļø
yeah, dmg increase is minimal compared to durability which is more important
I'd rather it didn't, because then you'd have to put in the extra resources to gear upgrades, which would make the game even grindier.
Bow works well against Moder. Especially if you use fire and poison arrows. Especially fire.
upgrades to weapons are rather for the ease of use and not having to go back to fix your weapons
Frfr. I got plenty of chest for food and arrows and bolts so itās ok
archer mobs are op
That's my point. Citrus was saying that upgrades should do more to the damage / armor increase, but that would break the intended flow of the game and make it mandatory to dump way more resources into upgrades than we currently need to.
Not if you get the Root Harness, and even more so if you also use the Serpent Shield, since the resistances stack.
A box for ingredients and a box for the actual item itself is how I play tbh.
The way they are right now makes it so upgrading is just nice-to-have but far from being necessary
Their play testing of the bosses is with lvl 1 gear.
If they drastically increased the damage from upgrading then it would go from that "nice-to-have" to "I absolutely must upgrade them"
I max upgrade right off the bat anyways š¤·š½āāļø
I hate how in every playtrough I do I die at least once during the yagluth fight from my fire resistance meat running out for merely a few seconds š
Keep an eye on the timer and avoid attacks while itās about to run out
In this playtrough there wasn't even a full second of delay between the potion running out and me applying the new one but he just so happened to attack between it
Yea thatās why I just ditched the fire resistance for stamina mead š. And google says to melee him with frostner. Like how am I suppose to hit him and not die š.
its stupid you cannot chug a new potion until the duration is 0 for fire/poison resist tbh
And the pierce damage from arrows donāt work well on him either. I just used frost arrows along with the frost mage staff and hopes for the best hour of my life š
You have to watch your damage per fire tick and keep your stamina high enough to run when you need to
Use serpent meat and stew for the highest max health
I still died multiple times using that fire mead that it donāt even matter if I used it or not. I aināt even worried about it š.
Is there a way to change the server difficulty on a dedicated server?
Yyyes.
I know of an indirect way, at least. Pull your server .fwl file, slap it in Valhost, and make your edits. Then slap it back where it belongs.
Check the server manual in the same folder as the .bat file, that will show how to change world modifiers and other options
how do i make the edits?
If you can't figure it out after looking at the website, I can't help you.
Yeah I'm not seeing a button for "edit" - which I thought based on your suggestion there would be a clear button I could interact with.
got it nevermind thanks
Woo, caught a few coral cods without even using a rare and elusive serpent trophy, or even a fishing rod
Welp, schoolwork is done for the day. Time to keep putting off going to the mountains.
And the fact that the serpent trophy sinks into the water, so I have to figure out how to pull the serpent into land without running out of stamina
I have stacks of serpent trophies, but they're hard won and I still don't want to ever use one.
coughHarpooncough
he literally said he was pulling the serpent..
^ Yeah, that is true
I only saw 3 sea serpents this playtrough and 2 of them despawned ;/
I mean. Are you playing solo?
Yep, always
I did see like almost 10 bonemaws though
also why the hell does mistlands fishing bait use lox trophies
Man, it can be frustrating trying to find a 2-star wolf
God damn the timing of the swamp raids is always impeccable, itās always at my crop farm and the first time I was afk and this time I had no food and was going to make some
How easily could a wolf tear down a wooden wall?
(or a stakewall)
Have you ever heard about the tale of 3 little pigs
If youāre asking because you want to tame a wolf, you can log out and they will stop attacking it. Remember to rest after
Ah, thank you very much
you want a stone wall with wolf head trophies on it
I'm just sick of trying to get them to fall into pits (usually by trying to parry them into one)
I like putting them in pits so I can kick greylings into the pit
Another strategy is make them walk the plank then break it with your hammer
Ah, good idea!
Go Spartin and kick them in the pit instead. So long as you don't have a weapon, you kick.
(Using power attack)*
On mouse+keyboard, it's middle click on mouse.
Otherwise, something with large knock back would work well.
is lord reto always 2 star?
Finally! An acorn!
I hate how rare those are
I just make a deep hole and then put floor over it, break it when wolf is on it, best way
Swamp is kicking my fucking ass man
I got a abomination to half health for his half brother or some shit to spawn so now itās a game of running around the crypt
Then I manage to kill them both to die to a one star leech because I didnāt realise my poison ran out š¤¦āāļø
Ah, thank you very much
just wait until u get to the upcoming biomes, that will be even more fun
Iāve gotten to mistlands itās just I wanna get better at the previous biomes with everything Iāve learnt so far
Iām more frustrated with losing my levels than anything I seem to always reach the 40-50 range and can never get past 50
ah alright, a tip for abominations is if there is a geyser nearby lead them to it and just run around while its standing in the fire and it'll die in like 10-15 seconds
Unfortunately theyāve all spawned on the coastlines in this swamp
However I do get to practise my corpse running skills since the entire swamp nation has decided to respawn on the path to my corpse
At the very least abominations are easy to parry and decimate with a sword
Theyāre probably my best parry timing of all the big brutes
very readable attacks
As soon as I get my shit back I can sail home which is 2 mins away and upgrade from troll armor to iron
What difficulty are you playing on?
I would try hardcore but none of my friends want to
Can ballistas attack bosses?
Yes
I skipped iron tier armor with my hammer atgeir character but Iām definitely gonna need it for my sword run
I like to keep troll armor for mountains because I never find enough abominations and donāt want to become a slug
Unfortunately I have to switch to heavy armor in mountains because I only find terrible frost caves
thatās a good call Iāve got enough for the chest piece
The one star draugr archers been giving me hell so that will actually be so useful
And it'll be super useful for the ranged fulings and the ever dreaded deathsquitos
Plus I wanna tame loxes and have them indirectly farm deathsquitos that way
Deathsquitos arenāt that bad
Although I havenāt been to plains with 2 stamina food yetā¦
I skipped to mountain and tamed wolves in meadows gear once on a self challenge with friends obsessed with building. It wasn't fun but I got good at timing on wolf attacks really quickly!
I like wolves and draugr because of their predictable behaviour, itās a shame later enemies almost always either have unpredictable movement, attacks or both
I believe that was the goal with charred to make their attacks hard to read
Someone told me that the charred warriors have a pattern for deciding if they use a short and long attack but I havent noticed that, have you?
Tbh on vhard with root chest and fenris armor mosquitoes feel like tickles to me
I am yet to reach the Ashlandās Iāve only watched gameplay and listened to interviews with the devs and their talks on the Ashlandās
Although your perception on what is a ātickleā kinda changes on that difficulty. If you donāt die in 1 hit it feels like a tickle
38 defence š
Tbh I never saw what the big fuss was about deathsquitos but from what I heard they used to be more difficult..?
The wiki says they were nerfed on the version history page but doesnāt say how much, it was before I started playing
Thereās no iron tier cape right
My guy kinda looks dorky with the iron helmet and blue troll cape
No, but the troll cape doesnāt do much without the set bonus
wolf cloak comes early in the mountains
It looks better with silver armor
Contemplating a lil pre bonemass wolf cape rush just for the cape aesthetics
Kill bonemass first so you can kill wolves while mining silver
Can you get hunted pre bonemass?
nope
No, but thatās a reason not to go there pre bonemass
Without being hunted I usually wont find enough wolf pelts for my armor
Tbh thatās a good point last time I played with 2x resources
Iāll just deal I guess
Maybe one day theyāll add an iron tier cape
A biome doesnāt need a cape though
Itās more about the customisability imo
The capes donāt really give much benefit until mountains anyway, troll cape only because itās a set bonus
Is it possible to post a picture on here? My buddy drew our valheim group and I desperately wanna share
kinda strange how the cape for the plains doesn't have a ability like the mountains, mists or ash. I understand the deer/meadow cape not having a specialty, but the plains feels like its missing something because the other biomes get a specality.
Tyvm pls check it out in 2 seconds. Its unreal
What could the plains cape do though?
slick, tar doesnt slow you down.
Yo that looks dope
A black tar resistant cape would be bad ass
Iām not sure whether itās intentional or not but I admire the way the draugr hide in the corners of the crypt chambers to ambush you
Iāve learnt to expect it now
same. I toss a stink (ooze) bomb in almost every time I suspect a hidden dragr.
I am yet to craft those, are they worth it?
useful for anything that doesn't have poison resistance...it also has a trail of ticking damage marks, effectively letting you see through walls if a enemy is there or not.
The hard part is what do I sacrifice from my inventory to make room for another item
Ashlands spawn rates are stupid rn lmao
the upgrade is great for softening up seekers in the infested mines and completely clearing out the grubs.
ashland spawns are a slog but nothing compared to prior to LIVE in the PTB...that was nuts
Lox cape already has a use, a cheap frost resistance for people who went through mountains without a wolf cape. Maybe the linen cape could do something unique like reduce multi-target penalty?
that is also a great potential for the linin cape^
Should I put it in suggestions or does it need a bit more thought first?
besides being a knock-off of Thor's cape in the superhero movies....
I mean itās not a bad idea but logically what makes it have that
First landing onto Ashland feel like diving into Automaton planet in HD2.....
Fur and feather capes resist frost because they insulate, root resist pierce because itās made of tree
I canāt think of anything linen can do
It should be something unique so itās viable in later biomes, thats what the feather cape, ashen cape and asksvin cape do
grease coat it and it would become rainproof or decrease the stickyness of something like tar.
rainproof yess
I am not going to put it into suggestions as the majority of those things I have, have mostly been downvoted...so I'm lacking in motivation to do so.
My suggestions usually get no downvotes or get downvoted so bad that I delete them, thereās only been a few balanced ones
The only suggestion Iāve had receive a lot of support is having the rain debuff increase upto a max of 2 mins and start at like 10 seconds instead of immediately jumping to 2 minutes
that does make logical sense.
Yeah and nobody likes rain debuff
I only thought of it cause I hated going outside to my smelters and only being in the rain for like a second but having to wait 2 whole minutes, although I guess having a fire closer by would have negated that
partially, you still need a lit fire and it persists likely longer than 10s that your suggestion would incur and also, the 10s would dry faster under the same scenario than the 2m.
Pretty sure current spawn rates are the same as early PTB
hmmm. might be my tempered expectations then.
The amount of abomination spawns in my swamp is ridiculous
Recall the last moments of PTB and compare them to current version and early days of PTB.
I really don't think those nerfs were brought to live
Maybe theyāre hoping that it works like a placebo and people get used to the Ashlandās
my brain is all over the place. was thinking of DN and read iGOD's comment about aboms....now I want a snow covered abom.
ABOM-idable snowman
*Devs
Their dev tricks won't work on me
I hope they reverted them to approach them differently rather than just reduce numbers and that's it, making them more dynamically reduced
I like the idea of local spawn rates reducing the more enemies you kill there although I have a feeling thatās what you mean by dynamically
The game could use a function similar to what determines wind direction so it always spawns the enemies at the worst possible time and place.
Ohhh like the greyling spawning mechanics?
I love having them always come pester me somehow always appearing behind me
and then running away when I finally decide to pull my weapon out
The moment it detects your hp is 10% or less it will immediately, suddenly and instantly spawn three starred warriors around you
logs out immediately
When youāre only one troll away from level 3 troll armor you wont find it until youāre fighting the elder, while there are roots around you and heās using his ranged attack.
Could be only spawning warriors and archers in the vicinity of fortresses.
Or conquering a fortress reduces the spawn rates in a wide radius...
Or both
I like the second one because it'd make it feel like you are actually invading and conquering the biome, expanding your territory little by little
And those trolls have a chance to NOT drop hides
Makes sense considering the idea is yoy are at war with the Ashlandās
The troll drops a trophy so you donāt have space to pick the hide up
i thought riding on a mount would be faster
It is
better yet, it only drops a trophy. no hides.
how far can a lox swim?
Until its stamina runs out.
only thing faster than a tailwind ask cape Viking is a feather cape Viking launched via catapult.
can i harpoon it across water?
Man I canāt wait to get catapults
The possibilities
A launch deck on top of a mountain peak
On top of iron poles on top of a tree on top of a mountain peak
once I, again outside of PTB, hit the ashlands, I am going to set up a system of them to launch me home so I dont have to deal with boats or portals.
Surely you can cross continents
still trying to figure out how to bring those 2 lox home that i tamed lol
you could boat them at the risk of them falling off the boat. If they were like wolves, they would swim next to the boat if they did fall out.
the boat just breaks actually
If you manage to master it, you could possibly even use them for corpse runs, just have spare feather capes and drop out of the sky right onto your corpse
If you canāt bring your lox home why not bring your home to the lox lol
Is it a big plains atleast?
that's a heavy boi....
yup, this really is best strat.
lox named "boat breaker"
its a very small plains surrounded by mistlands on 3 sides and ocean on the 4th side xD
you need a place to farm flax/barley anyway.
Tbh I ended up taming my lox, riding him for a bit then just letting him do his own thing free roaming near my barley farm
he ended up going on a rampage in a nearby Black Forest and meadows
im so far away from my base i cant even ride them there xD oh well might just cut my losses
they wont even eat lox meat
cauldrons go to rank 4 right?
thought there were more, but I may be thinking of mist+ upgrades too.
yeah there is an additional one from mistlands. probably for ahslands too. Have not made it there yet though and been avoiding spoilers on it so IDK.
ooh i havent unlocked spice rack yet
youre in the plains and dont have a spice rack?
nope
thats usually the first one. its unlockable with black forest mats
At that point is only fair that you spawn turnip seeds
read that in a homer simpson voice....
ive had turnip seeds though, ive even made a bunch of turnips lol
if you skipped any of the build mats, I can see why you wouldn't have it (like carrots or something).
yeah i looked it up and its carrots i never had
was right on the nose with my guess.
does anyone have good info on how far the generation distance is? like how far out the world is generated from where a player is?
ideally drawn on a map would be great
3x3 active, 5x5 loaded, 9x9 generated
how big is a 9x9?
(64mx9)....? as a square? huge.
thankee! you don't happen to have like an infographic / map for seeing how big that is when looking at the map?
576m square for generated and 320m for load.....
yes but the generated stuff only gets loaded in at 5x5, which is the (roughly) 300m area, a bit larger than the fog of war reveal
yeah, I'm looking for generated size to make sure I don't mess with future deep north stuff
600m being the ultra safe distance, 300m being the closest without loading/spoiling
just need a sense of how big 600m is on the map š
2 visual circles on a uncleared map section....
yeh generously
i estimated the distance for the Ashlands update and my base was left mostly intact lol
Thankee!
i have a submerged barley field now, and i'm keeping it xD
so long as you can still replant it, I would too. very rice fields like.
i can sail the boat right from my front door now so it's kinda more convenient
and crops float right? on a raft picking barley
haven't touched the field in case i wreck it xD but i may pick one or two and see if i can actually replant
raise the ground if not....I assume would be the fix.
i think it looks too unique to fix
i had to go around spamming raise ground under my base foundations a bit to stop that disintegrating š
bankrolled your stone deposits doing so?
i have loads of stone i was worried the whole base was undermined, i lost one wall before i managed to patch the big gap that the terrain shifting down had caused
thankfully it wasn't the whole thing like some ppl who built in the ashlands and deep north prior to the live drop.
i wonder if any of those survived
very few by the number of people asking how to save their "DN base that got destroyed because the land is now water"
just wish i had a screenshot of the reverse....if that ever happened. "i built near the water and now its a mountain and the majority of my base is burried" kinda of a sitch.
that would make for a funny meme.
"when terrain generation goes very wrong"
that actually happened to some people and caused random floating pieces of land.
or like this:#steam-bugs-discussion message
when the blackforest pre live becomes ashland post live
very much "time for a tree fort/base"
Ewok rules
Elf-heim, the ground is lava
would be a fun world slider to try out
super difficult if the mechanics didn't change. you would have to hope a tree spawned on one of the small islands of normal land just to build your way to the next tree or attempt to get the drops mid-air if chopping from up high.
i wish we could tame a serpent then ride it across the water
Hello would anyone like to join a newbie I want to learn the basics
that would be an interesting tame/mount to be sure.

Ok
that or youtube and wiki, they cover most everything.
if it were to be a viable mode i'd guess the lava would have be more patchy, or at least not in the starter zone, or give the players early ways of coping, also there couldn't be too much lava, or there wouldn't be anywhere for the mobs to go either
Ok thanks
that or, being a smaller game type, it might only include flying monsters and/or monsters would be able to climb and be immune to the lava when freshly spawned( something like the first 30s)
that does happen sometimes since the maps are "randomly" generated.
among a lot of other things.
I always like the greydwarf camps inside rocks š
god man why does taming have to take so long
Because the Devs were afraid the players wouldn't have anything to complain about....
like i get the concept but 30 minutes sitting doing nothing is just excessive
Then don't sit doing nothing
I'm pretty sure there must be tons of other things that can be done in the base while waiting instead of just sit there
i am in the ashlands my base is far away these lizard dogs will be mine
logs?
How do i set the fire spreads modifier on dedicated server?
Probably best to ask in the help channel for dedicated servers.
tried
if you have set/changed any other world modifiers on your dedicated server, it will likely be the same.
Hello ive been playing Valheim for a while but today im having an error, maybe someone knows how to solve it? Well its simple i cant sit hahaha
as in the charicter emote? like waving or dancing?
No just pressing E on my chair
en sitting with X my character sits and stand up without do anything
not a issue I have heard of before. Is the chair blocked by anything?
Nope, can i send a video in this channel?
Not able to
not likely but : https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202263390056357928 should allow short videos.
otherwise, https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202267437647527977 will allow in game pictures.
Im tagging you there br
Have you made sure the key binding is still mapped?
Valheim likes to delete some of my custom keybinds from time to time
Is all the preset keybind
May want to double check and try remapping just to see
I send it @ornate sigil
it only shows as a download...
nvm. windows media player worked.
it just looks like you used the emote and stood back up instantly.
doesnt the progression of valheim seem too linear
Ashlands is hell
Ye right? But i only press X and thats all
Nvm im reinstalling myb
that is a odd bug. have you used mods before?
Wonder if deep north will be worse
No never
Even now is just vanilla
are you on xbox or steam?
ok. if you don't have any luck, try asking around here: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202549675924787220 or if that still fails, try the website since it has a huge bug report section.
Nope it dosnt work:(
you don't have to follow the main route, you can try skipping ahead to other biomes/bosses but it will be much more tricky if you do.
Well, good luck finding a fix. nothing I can really do as just another player.
Thanks mate ill thake a video and sent it myb someone have the same problem
I wonder what the set key is? -firespread?
not 100% sure since I don't admin a server (dedicated or otherwise). might be something in the patch notes that mentions fire spread.
I give up. I'm not going to progress past Swamps.
Why not?
Mountains are just too unfriendly to solo players, and I don't imagine Plains, Mistlands, or Ashlands are going to be any better. I'm sick of having crap like Golems spawn on me every three minutes while I'm just trying to gather silver.
And the CONSTANT dragon spawn and spam knocking me around is absolutely garbage, too.
I get some silver, have to fight a golem. Get some more silver, next golem destroyed my cart. Fight off that golem, another one spawns, and now there are three dragons overhead, and oh look, now there are wolves.
It is just constant fighting, and I'm done. I just want to mine some goddamn silver so I can make the next tier of armor, christ.
And now I have to PADDLE back to my main base, to pick up more frost potions, to go back and get my body and HOPEFULLY get another cart up to collect what I managed to get.
I like to dig a hole and harpoon golem in it if there's one spawning where I'm mining
They shouldn't respawn so fast to begin with.
Aren't Abominations on a 30 minute respawn? Why can't Golems do that? They aren't even critical for crafting anything other than "glass" windows.
Oh my god. Now there's a storm in the open ocean as I'm just trying to get home, and the only wind I have takes me BACK to my temporary camp. If I get hit with a serpent, I'm just taking the death at this point.
I'm so tired. I just want some Silver. c.c
@vapid hearth I have seen others with that issue(#screenshots message) and they cheesed their way in using a portal or chair.
Alright. Gear get. Now to retrieve the silver and eggs.
Mountains get MUCH easier once you have the silver set
Still feel like golems need to be slowed down on spawns. Dragons flying around with knockback attacks is bad enough.
Binemass power helps q lot when you're about to he overwhelmed, as well
I think it's pretty easy. If you want to stop the golems from spawning the easiest way is to dig a hole, harpoon one, drag him into the hole so he can't escape, and just leave him there. He'll attract attention of the drakes that might fly about as well so it'll actually help you out.
Players shouldn't have to resort to cheesing the game spawn system just to play solo, though.
i prefer to think of it as a Creative Coping mechanism š
burried campfires everywhere.....
I don't know if it's cheesing to take advantage of your environment but I get what you're saying.
I mean, by game mechanics alone, it isn't, no. But it's one of those immersion vs. metagame arguments, and I lean towards immersion.
there are also the world modifiers to consider for a solution
I don't recall getting harassed all that much by the golems once I've already begun mining the silver because I'm in the hole and under it usually.
In any case, I got my silver ore. An entire vein worth.
Now throw it off the cliff and find it on the black forest floor!
147 ore.
No, I did that with the two eggs I found...
The eggs are much easier to find than the boxes that break off the cart haha
Thankfully, my boxes fell into a crevice I had put my cart in, trying to protect it.
And when I finally re-collected myself, the golem had wandered half the mountaintop away to fight with drakes. So I could freely dig a ramp, collect it all, re-allocate it to a new cart, and book it down the mountain like I was in the song Pepper.
Is there any point to upgrading Trollstav or Staff of the Wild?
it seems like you wouldn't get more trolls or more thorns or anything
it's slightly annoying that level 1 mage clothing is all pretty much 99% as effective as level 4
it's just a couple extra trivial armour points
Question: Are fire arrows good to have in the mountains? Do they do more damage to Moder and the drakes than Iron arrows?
Because I'm about to have some options.
in exchange for a magical bubble, you give up a lot of armor as a mage
yeah, you'd think though that upgrading the mage armour would give you like 2% more eitr regen or something
I don't play as a mage so I don't know without looking it up, but i believe one of the sets does increase regen rates
they both do, yes
wiki says yes on drakes and modor
but the upgrade path 1->2-3 doesn't do anything but increase durability and armour, which is totally useless
tldr there's no point upgrading mage set past quality 1
I suppose "nearly useless". That extra 4-6 armour might save your butt in a pinch but it's not very exciting
Oh my god... I m ordering some IRL mead and the person I am ordering from is literally called Catelyn Stark like the GoT character, my life is complete!
Oh my god, I just saw that dragon eggs are not portal-able.
you want exciting? try a corpse run in the ashlands....that will get your adrenaline pumping.š
||Portable with the Ashlands portal though||
Doesn't help if this is my first Moder clear.
yep. thats why the viking kidney-belt is needed for moving those darn things.
Which armor piece to use for your first journey in Ashland ? It may seems obvious to you but darn the wide array of crazy mob in Ashland shore making my full melee build looks like a joke...
that would depend on if you play melee or magic. in general whatever the best the mists has to offer is what you should be going in with. expect a fight for every meter of ground you cover from your first step to whenever/wherever you decide to throw down a temp base. mob supression like campfires and workbenches will be your best friend.
I went in with my full carapace armor and this bone rolling looking thing slapped me , and the char warrior sword slash hit hard on shield too :/
bone roller are (more-gans)
I would like a more all round set up , some enemy i just can't get close to hit it
and yes, they can be tough for sure.
when I was playing in PTB, i poked everything from a distance with a crossbow so I would either outright kill in one hit or only agro 1-2 at a time.
may be i should try hybrid mage / warrior next
but the lack of armor due to having to use either chest or leg Eitr is a bit discouraging .
like xbox and pc, mage and heavy don't crossplay without a lot of compromises. mage, when played right, is supposidly easy in comparison.
I hope i won't die in 1 hit with full mage set up :/
bubble staff seems to be mandatory. ice and fire secondary and fracture or troll/skele summon as a less than needed but fun to have option, but take this with a grain of salt as I am only repeating what I have read.
So is the 'headless bear' dream a reference to the Deep North boss-to-be?
is there any reason to keep bukeberries
yo why does the queen blow so much ass worst boss ever not fun and it takes way too long bs
we don't know yet ... nothing has been said about what the Deep North content will be
I guess we were over prepared, as Fader seemed.. underwhelming to us.
they are a "oh crap i have all stamina foods and I need 2 hp foods for this fight" item
...how often does that happen lol
i mean you still need to regen the extra health you lose from puking and you are vulnerable the whole time
It happens more often then one would like to believe.
We can bet that the deep north will have most mobs pierce resistant though
how lol...how often do you even need to pick between various food types
usually there are 3 clear winners for your progression point
mostly when raids happen or if you make it all the way to a boss shrine and have to clear your running food for your fighting food....
eh, im not sold. dumping mine. was hoping they had more of a use than what was on the label
i mean, if they ever implement bio-warfare, then we could use them as payloads in the siege engines.....
something idk
but becoming vulnerable and losing all your food seems like a terrible situation at any point
i guess the extremely niche scenario where you for whatever reason needed to eat super low level food then needed to eat higher level food but also had time to actually use a bukeberry and had one on you
but like...why
I could see a usecase for slamming HHH on a body recovery mission where your gravestone will have your normal food, maybe EEE or something radically different
but in that case just eat regular food
But I personally just eat what I would've normally eaten anyway, yeah
i was hoping they were an ingredient for something cool
you can always set it to hard or very hard, its what world modifiers are for. if you're very well prepared, you will not die a lot and gain skills, combining to make it even easier
if im gonna go 2h which weapon is better, the demolisher or the krom?
KROM
demolisher
demolisher aoe looks sooo cool though
i have no idea i just think krom sounds cool
its very slow and takes a lot of stam.. i havent made krom yet but for resources sake im trying to figure out which is better
you can use normal sword for slash damage , but blunt damage on late game is hard to come by
do you guys move your crafting station upgrades from one base to the next, or rebuild them all at each
im thinking of leaving the basic stuff at my meadows base but disassembling the rest and moving them to my plains location
Okay, I'm done. I get to the plains looking for a good mountain range. Land. Deathsquito. Okay, block the attack then swap to a bow and kill it. Great, good start.
Goblin raid spawns because nighttime and I didn't have a chance to set up a bench/bed/fire for a sleep, or a portal for easy travel back. Okay, they hit hard, but it's fine.
End up dying because they run around in circles like headless chickens, and a one-star goblin two-shots me.
ya got got
I am so angry that I can't just lock on to one of the little bastards so I can effectively block/parry. It makes combat with things like greylings and goblins absolutely awful.
Honestly.
If you're going to riff on Dark Souls for your combat, INCLUDE A LOCK ON.
if you hold block and kinda move around its a good way of dealing with them.
just wait for them to shoot their shots, then swing
Except that I was nearly staggered after just one of their attacks.
So if I do that, I get staggered and mobbed. I had to parry them. Which I COULD do, when they actually attacked me and didn't try running around like the little assholes they are.
It isn't fun difficulty, it's difficulty for the sake of being difficult, and it SUCKS.
Stagger is based on your armor and HP values
That little run around makes fulings incredibly easy, they will always go in for a hit then run away
I swear sta acts as an aggro
This is about fulings? The ones with slow telegraphed attack animations? You'll learn.
Krom does superior damage, and the secondary is excellent
But the AOE of demolisher is fantastic for small groups
Really just depends on what youāre fighting.
Personally, I make both so I can swap when I need too
moving the sum total of every non-portalable item into the plains now
time to make a new home for the second half of the game i have never beaten
Good morning i need a friend to help me and explain me about the game and spend time to play with me
ha š ?
no ha
you are a viking now
your business is war and your currency blood
go make some sales
What is it in the game are you wondering about?
kill things, gather things on the ground, craft things
crafting things lets you kill more things which drop more things to let you craft more things
etc so forth and whatnot
eventually build a boat and explore to kill more things
You are a warrior who died in Midgard long ago. Odin the All Father sends you to Valheim a realm of his own creation made to trap his enemies and cut them from Yggdrasil the world tree to be sent adrift from the other 9 realms. Odin wants you to slay these enemies of his to prove your worth to ascend into Valhalla, a hall where warriors dine and do battle with eachother for eternity untill called upon by Odin.
In Valheim you traverse its many lands and sail its seas to gain strength in arms, exploring the lost realm yeilds many visual truths of what was once there.
Build wonderous structures, forge armor, eat, drink, survive, and mostly; slay the enemies of Odin.
basically Odin make the hunger game .
that is a really nice story
but i still dont know how to play the game š but ill find someone to help me with the game paly
Are you on xbox or PC ?
Pc
I couldnt help then, im on xbox
i have a ps4
are stonehenges the only way to find yagluth vestige?
like can they spawn in villages or the stone goblin buildings
Nope. Hardest boss vegvisir IMO. You're just as likely to spot the altar itself.
Yeah finding Yagluth is always one of the worst parts of a playthrough
does stone or iron let you build highest?
iron - you can build the iron cage walls inside the stone to reinforce it tho, so you can have a stone-iron wall that goes just as high
something worth noting is that the dvergr walls have the same structural properties as iron, but for much cheaper
what biome are they from
im looking for a place to set down in the plains currently, just finished moder
mistlands. To make the dvergr cagewalls (I think thats the name), you need a black forge.
eh, idk if i want to hop ahead a biome in materials
