Hello. I have realized that player level and endless arenas are on the leaderboards. Will corruption ever be? It would give people a reason to want to push past their comfort zone and keep people occupied on achieving their goals if they have a global rank. I just thought it would be a good addon to the current leaderboards

I love the pivot for Spellblade to the "melee-oriented triggered spells" mastery, I had a hard time identifying the original flavor intention for this one. What was the teams original intention for the mastery fantasy of Spellblade?
The original seed for the spellblade dates back to the original passive grid system and was the melee focused quadrant of the mage class called "battle mage" . It was primarily inspired by things like D2's Enchant, Skyrim's Bound Weapon and Gandalf.
Can EHG guess when expansion will come?

The latest announcement still has, in all caps, the word free for all existing owners of LE. If the plan is to not increase the bundle price, the repeated emphasis on "existing" in all communications related to it isn't really conveying it effectively.

Is there anything a user should do when his PC hardware configuration is changed? I have increased the memory allocated for iGPU after installing and running LE on Steam/Linux, and so far LE seems to run with no problem. EDIT: Perhaps this is a 'support' question inappropriate for this channel.

A question regarding the roadmaps and features.
In previous roadmaps and in chats and streams, EHG included a complete overhaul to the transmog system, and a proper implementation of a transmog station / system that will allow us to better customize the look of our characters (to borrow from other ARPGs, that usually means the ability to pick a previously picked or salvaged piece of gear, transform the look of certain items into the look of other ones, pick between a selection of colors and patterns, and often even entirely change the look of one weapon type to the look of a different weapon type).
Looking at the recent roadmap - the transmog system bullet point is now gone. Is the transmog system still in the works? Any detail you guys can share about future work on character apparel customization?

See this is the way I didnโt want them to go, I understand tying them closer to other mage spells helps synergistically. But I would have much preferred the melee playstyle to have been enhanced by looking at the melee skills they already have, as the only real viable melee build for them is shatter strike. Just feels like playing sorc with mana strike with how it sounds right nowโฆ.
I'm already outside the scope of this channel with the answer that was linked. I generally don't have details about upcoming content here unless it's something I'm specifically working on and even then I can only be super vague.
If you'd like you can delete the settings file for LE so that the game thinks it's a first boot and auto sets default settings. You can also select a new preset in the settings. Or you can just increase the settings until it struggles and then move it back down a touch. The support site should have an article with that file location.

Corrupting items: Is this going to lead to a massive jump in power creep? I have bad experience from needing the mandatory "+1 power charges" or "+X to AoE gems" in PoE, not because I wasn't getting them, but because they were almost mandatory to cover the gap between normal bosses to uber bosses.

Major User Interface changes, are we looking at a full overhaul or some tweaks? I generally find that the UI is very friendly to my eyes, going toe-to-toe with Grim Dawn's UI for the title of my favourite UI, and time and again I've said congrats to the design team for using vibrant colours like green yellow and purple without making the game look like a free FPS aimed at 10 year-olds. I'm slightly worried that the general vibe of LE might change drastically if the UI receives an overhaul (not necessarily a bad thing, just managing expectations)

A complete overhaul is not feasible at all. I don't know the scope of it but completely redoing it all would be crazy.

The new release teaser got me excited after seeing planned updates to item filter.
What I always wanted was ability to also set filter to look for high affix value rolls within a particular affix tier.
Is something like this planned ?

I can't remember the new filter rules that are being added. I know there are some good ones in the works though.
On a personal note, I think that there is some value in the filter not being perfectly able to show only exactly what you will pick up. I really like having that moment of seeing something drop that is probably good to picking it up and seeing just how good it is.

Well, honestly the only time I wish for such a feature is when i sit and sift through 20 or so idols. For other items the 1-7 tier filtering is nice enough, but idols with its only one tier for rolls is ughhhhh
I love LE's item filter, it allows me to play the game and not read item affixes for hours, unlike some other ARPGs.
Oh yea, idols are definately the exception on this one.
As a personal use case:
As a player searching for good idols,
I care about affix value rolls before I care about affix types,
Because if rolls are high, then idol might be valuable no matter what type of affixes it has, as I can mix and match many idols.

When slamming, do the rolls get picked one by one or if let's say in a case of a 3lp item, 2 at once with 1 left? I mean the odds here, is it (2/3 * 1/2) = 1/3 or just 2/3 for a 3lp item?
Unless there was any system of biasing which affixes you get from a slam (there isn't) it'd be mathmatically the same whether they're picked sequentially or simultaneously.

Missing the affix you don't want. You have an even chance of missing each of the 3 affixes, so missing any given one (in this case, the one you don't want on your item) has a 1/3rd chance

And there's really no way to transfer them "at the same time". Nor would it matter, it's the same regardless. If it were "at the same time" you wouldn't do 2/3, you would do 3 choose 2, which gives 3 results, only 1 of which we want, thus 1 in 3 chance.
As in if I have affixes A, B and C. And I choose 2 (3lp, since the first is guaranteed), the possibilities are:

And the odds of getting any one of them is equal, so if I want A B specifically it's a 1 in 3 chance.

- Animations are done per-class, so yes, but not necessarily every animation is going to get changes.

Would you expect the 30% conversion of added melee damage to spell damage that was teased for spellblade to work with the stat boosting effect of the primordial spear Harmony of the First? The wording is 'All stats on this item are increased' so I would think yes based on the wording. Wondering what the dev thought process is for questions like this. Obviously the design intent might not be technically feasible with edge cases like that.
No, I don't expect that to work. I expect it to only count the actual stats listed directly on the item which are worded "+x melee [optional element tag] damage". Harmony's stat line is a little misleading for edge cases. A more precise stat line would read: "You gain stats equal to x% of the stats on this item". This is a supervisor property which is calculated independently of normal stat calculations. It isn't actually technically increasing the stats on the item. Since weapons are stats sticks, the only practical difference is in edge cases which look at the stat values on your weapon.
You can test this in game with other effects which reference the added melee damage of your weapon.
Just to be clear though, I'm out of the office and I first read about that change in the devblog post and have no idea if it is implemented or not.
im using xithara's conudrum which gives more physical damage when full hp, i have health drain but im constantly getting to full from health from crits, the tooltip does have a difference when equipped/unequipped, is it actually measured correctly or is it like for a split second? (im playing heartseeker and constantly getting healed to full)
Depends on exactly how you're getting health back, if it's purely from on-hit effects through instant health gain I'd suspect you're getting little to no benefit

Health is a decimal. You are hitting max health for a frame.
so technically im getting that 40% increased physical damage if im in that 1209/1211 health range? or is that one frame just not worth
No like if you have 20 health gained on hit/crit, and you're at let's say 1205/1211 hp, when your attack lands you gain hp and have 1211 hp for what I assume would be a single server (and maybe client) tick, and then you'd immediately go below max hp again which will most likely be before your next attack gets cast, meaning it doesn't gain the bonus.
How much would you need the average buyer of le to spend on mtx to keep the game running?

I don't really have anything interesting to say about this. We are better at developing games today than we were yesterday. As we gain experience from successes and failures, we refine the process and improve.

Hello, would it be possible to have an option to decrease or remove visual effects?
I like playing Erasing Strike but the constant purple "flash" when using it gives me eye stains and I don't have eye issues, same for Judgement

No, you must have. They just be forgotten and you'll remember them one day.
This is one of the great balancing acts of the skill trees. Have the visuals be impressive and flashy enough to be exciting and cool while still leaving enough room for the ability to be expanded through the skill tree and items. Then the skill tree almost gets limited by the amount of visual noise budget is left in the skill.
This is something we actively are working on for some older skills that have had some new items come out for. Especially with the genetic increased area stats that have been added since a lot of abilities were initially added to the game.
Sometimes the skins fix this but that's not a total solution because we don't want to have an ability become visually functional through paying a fee.
Not once users (me included) have wished for some sort of a transparency slider option (from 100% to invisible) when it comes to skill visuals. This, among many other visual and accessibility related things we often ask for. The Unity run SoulStone survivors is a great example of a game introducing this in order to help users with a particularly messy screen full of skill effects. More often than not, reducing effects to the 20-40% zone still lets you see terrain and enemies telegraphing attacks without losing track of your own. At 0%, which is an option that definitely exists and helps beyond a certain absurdity of visual noise, it stops rendering and heavily replenishes performance
I think I might have asked this a year or so ago, but what are the plans for Spellblade builds becoming more viable? That mastery's state is kinda sad atm. I've been waiting for a Flame Rave build being viable for EVER ๐ญ It's been Shatter Strike only for as long as I have played the game since release.
What are the plans in general for unused skills and builds?

And the same thing goes for all the underused skills. They balance as much as they can every patch. If you have specific things with specific skills in mind use #feedback
Balancing dev time to implement features like this and new content is always a tough choice. Developing a system for this and converting every VFX to function with it would eat into new skills, cosmetic VFX and enemies so heavily that if we dropped everything else and did it as fast as possible it would mean nothing in those categories for at least a year. This is obviously not the way we would do it but if we go extreme the other way and have one junior VFX artist doing it slowly, that's a few year project.
I guess what I'm saying is that it's a sweet idea and it seems like you can just turn some universal VFX opacity slider but it's nowhere near that easy to get set up.
If i could pinpoint a main offender to performance and visual noise, i would say its the way lighting works, how it reflects and washes its surroundings. Lighting rich builds like the frost-claw-nova one that spawns tons of elemental novas is like a prime example of how dramatically performance drops with cast speed. Just the ability to reduce the visual effect and potency of lighting off such sources would be a dramatic improvement
last season i had an issue in cemeteries and tombs. they were so packed with mob density and visual effects that i absolutely could not see anything that was happening. it was a mish mosh of effects that removed any useful information, like buffs, telegraphed attacks or literally where my character was standing
You can put it in #suggestions if you want and they might consider it. I'm just letting you know why it's not going to happen quickly. Even just all the lightning effects is still a few thousand effects. And doing it for one thing automatically provides an expectation that we are going to do it for all, you know...because of the favoritism.
Good stuff to put in #feedback for sure. Personally I like having variety for things like this. Select zones of chaos are fun to opt into.
In his interview with Tri, JR was saying opacity sliders in PoE would lead to worse performance because you don't get as much dynamic culling. Is there any reason it would be different for LE Mike?

if something was totally transparent it wouldn't need to be culled...
That's not always true
Culling something means you don't render it at all usually, something that's 100% transparant could still be rendered. But regardless the setting wouldn't be to make your skills and effects 100% transparent but maybe 50% or something so it's easier to see.

is there an intended purpose behind the tomb guardians in regular tombs/cemetaries? it seems odd to me that there's a unique once per instance enemy that just... doesn't seem to do anything
I think they are a little under hit pointed. But the purpose is supposed to be a final challenge at the end of the tomb and a guaranteed unique drop to be able to farm those new uniques that were added with them. Since you can't control which unique you get before you start, it's more like 1/[total pool] per instance.
They may be referring to the mob called "Tomb Guardian", not Clothos and her ilk. I know one (a couple?) of the woven echoes you have to kill one before entering the cemetery
What's the ratio of Golden:Obsidian resonances one should get with a player? Because we were farming with a friend and got the obsidian after FOURTEEN golden ones, no need to say we felt quite discouraged by that, it's like twice too much
I don't know what the ratio is. The Golden ones are kinda useless though.
i understand but it's more about how often they should drop because well we were farming for like 6 hours straight or even 8 for a single obsidian, idk if it's an outlier but it's really worrying

i heard that amber drop rates were nerfed in season 3. what was the % nerf like? was it nerfed by 50% or more?
Huh I'm not aware of that. There's also a Memory Amber bag you can get from the Skarven Bloodhorn NPC
in season two, i was swimming in amber and could afford to re-roll class idols and buy woven echoes constantly. now, im burning through my legacy stockpile and im getting less than 300 amber per tomb at 800+ corruption. it would take me more than 10 tombs to afford one copy of Unclaimed Troves (3000 amber). people told me the drop rate was nerfed for season 3
imprint rampant coast 2x and farm at 300+c and you'll have enough bones for unlimited amber.
uh...not sure how that works. how many bones do you get from one rampant coast like that and can you even trigger it frequently via imprints to get unlimited amber? i imprinted 2x unclaimed troves and it doesnt trigger very often for me, usually once per natural shade reset (pathing far enough away from the center)

You should imprint rampant coast ASAP (far better than imprint any other woven echo) thats is the best and most efficient way to get amber, plus materials, bones,also take the gold nodes with zerrick in weaver tree and gold blessing.

I put a forum request in for this ages ago asking for either a sliding bar in settings/box to tick to turn off. Some of the builds with the effects such as swarmblade who procs totems on hit + tornados make the game horrible to play even with a monster PC due to the lag + the fact you can't see wtf you're hitting, lmao. People who like effects can leave them maxed, those who don't can decrease like terrain/shadow effects etc. Would be really nice to have, eventually.

Judd himself said, they are aiming for a reduction of time in between season and Mike in his weekly streams also said they are aiming for a 4-3 months release cycles if quality and content are fine and do not correlate with the release of other titles.
That said, you have a clear perspective, though releases may happen later due to some reasons.

The game is currently cpu bound so unless a system has a significantly more powerful cpu than GPU, reducing the resolution will rarely do much to gain frames.
You can always add to #suggestions if you'd like to see something added though.

why is the game not pause-able in online even though you're playing SAF or CF?
Short version is just that we don't have the tech.
Creating the technology to have it be pausable isn't dependent on being alone. It does certainly make things a little easier if we can guarantee you are alone with a setting like that.
Offline pause is very simple, it just says the time scale of the game to 0. It's just about the most basic way to do it. What this does is make everything that runs off of a timer to just stop.
In online, even if the action is paused, we still need a lot of other things to function while the game is paused. Most notably, we still need chat and social functions to still run.
It's not impossible, it's just a very significant task and would mean not making some other feature or set of other features instead. I hope we build it someday but I don't know.
Quick aside, CoF has nothing to do with being alone. You can play CoF with any other player, including MG players.
cant EHG do the same thing diablo 3 did and pause when a player brings up the ESC menu or something like that, where everything is disabled? so you cant chat while the menu is up, but the game is paused and you can take a phone call during a boss fight or something. diablo 3 is online only but pauses when if you are the only one in the game and you press ESC. i cant remember if you can chat in diablo 3 while the ESC menu is open, but you can just disable that for last epoch if its too hard to do
They would like to add a pause function but it's often way harder than it might seem when it's not something you built the game around from the getgo

There's no "pausing" the social functions magic button, that's the entire issue basically. They'd need to develop a way to pause them, which presumably they weren't built with that functionality in mind

The problem is that the trivial way to pause is to pause absolutely everything and certain things being paused in online mode will result in the game just crashing.

i noticed that some woven echoes seem to be "special" and cannot be modified in any way. e.g. lostwood folly does not add weaver mobs to them. tombs and rift beasts cannot spawn in them either, and some do not allow nemesis to spawn either. is there any way to identify which woven echoes are "special" and cannot be modified?
Vault of the Barnacle King seems like a good example, you cannot add mobs to it via lostwood folly and the caches in the map seem to be a special kind of cache, i dont think it can trigger the "Sealed Riches" imprint when opening them, but i may be wrong.
It can proc sealed riches cause it has happened for me before I believe,now if the lizards there were actually balanced and didn't do way too much overturned damage then could be a decent farm echo together with troves.

fallout 4 is also cpu bound because it only allows for the utilization of a single core. modders have been working to overcome it since the game released, and one of the most effective mods for that is called Shadowboost. basically shadows eat a huge amount of cpu resources, and Shadowboost dynamically adjusts shadow length when hitting fps breakpoints. to the point of turning them completely off. dunno if LE is similar to that but just a thought
I'm not intimately involved with the issue myself so I don't know the main causes. I know that I've been told to make every tiny micro optimization I can when writing code for skills functionality. I think that shadows aren't the cause because you can turn those off and it doesn't solve the issue.

this game always chugs when there are a huge amount of objects to be rendered on screen which is a common cpu issue. doesn't matter their quality, eventually the sheer quantity will choke any cpu. i'd be curious what happens when you cull absolutely every effect and object on screen that isn't critical for gameplay, even environmental doodads like shrubs.

I am familiar enough with it to say that it is coming from scripts associated with gameplay objects that have gameplay effects. I say this because of how multiplayer runs and some of the headless testing we've done.
What is headless testing?
Servers don't have any graphical output, just the game logic running. It's probably not the right term. But basically just monitoring what's going on with the servers.

Yea, the profiler can tell you which things are taking how much time per frame. You can pause the game and look at what used time in the frame and how much it used. It's really cool actually.
Why the negative reviews. Is the game done?
Game is not done as far as we know. And we should expect to be getting atleast a season 4 and 5 + expansion given the roadmap.
But as for why negative reviews here is a summary.
- Company was bought up by Krafton wich has extra bad reputation because of the Subnautica 2 situation, and how it might affect EHG and Last Epoch.
- There was a kickstarter promise for game to be one time purchase with only cosmetics being purchasable. Which has not worked out economically for EHG and we will now get paid paradox classes. That made alot of people worried about it being pay to win.
- The 4th season comes out significatly later than what players hoped for given the mentioned 3-4 month seasons, with season 4 now comming out after ish 7 months. But benefit going forward should be that it should no longer clash with path of exile releases given more talks with their company.

Apparently to alot of people a promise can never be broken, yet they'll forgive other companies and such who do break promises, it's disgusting really.
a lot of people don't know how real life works and that shit happens that's out of your control. it's easy to say "you should have done it this way", but no one knows EHG's situation except them. also people get waaaay too hyperfocused and form a lynch mob, like go outside and get some fresh air. it's just a game
this isn't Bethesda or EA who have total financial freedom and still make greedy anticonsumer decisions, it's a very small team who are trying their best. people treat EHG like they're sitting in a board room evilly cackling at all the money they'll be rolling in, they're just trying to get by, and they don't like the situation anymore than the players do

I found turning off AA ingame and in vid card settings for LE significantly improved framerate and smoothness - others who tried it said the same just an fyi if you're struggling for fps

I've officially reported it multiple times.
There are a couple summon wolf bugs that get reported frequently which are working as intended. I'm not sure which interaction you're referencing.
The interaction with quantity of wolves is very unintuitive at the moment but as far as I know, it is functioning currently.
I'm not sure how the permanent bond issue isn't considered a bug one way or another. If you mean for it to not allow you to summon more wolves individually, then it's bugged because if I have no other minions, I can click the companion ability and summon normally. If it's meant to allow you to summon wolves along with other minions, then it's bugged. If I take permanent bond and equip a bee idol for example, the companion ability changes to howl until I deequip the bee idol and they're all gone
The wolves disappearing when you equip/unequip certain items is intentional as an anti snapshot measure.
You can't really mix and match multiples of several companions since companion skills always summon up to their maximum when you press the skill initially. Meaning usually either you summon one companion or up to your companion limit.
Maybe I misunderstood what you meant in the first part about summoning wolves alongside other "minions", if so feel free to clarify by pinging me in #โโask-the-community

I was under the impression the alleged bug was acknowledged here some time ago. I'll reiterate as briefly as I can: With the Perm Bond node taken, I get a default wolf. With The Claw or The Fang I can summon wolves up to my companion limit. With Tyrant's Skull equipped, I can't. I have to unequip it, then re-equip after summoning wolves but any points I put into any node or passive that impacts wolves, or if I change zones, unsummons all but one (or sometimes 2). I can get them all back by unequipping the Skull. If I have, say, 6 Wolves, I can summon any other companions which reduces wolves by that number (which is normal). If I have any other companion skill on the hotbar and I lose wolves (other than death), I also have to remove it to re-summon wolves. Then I can put the other companion skill(s) back and summon normally. Sorry, that wasn't brief but there's no other way to explain it all. That can't be as intended or maybe tell me which part or parts are working as intended.
Yea that's right, those items don't synergize nicely.
I don't think it's even a factor of tyrant skull in particular. I'm pretty sure it's just the skill level of wolf changing which causes the wolves to be unsummoned.
So it's the claw and permanent bond that don't synergize well. Which is expected.
It doesn't have to be something that changes the skill level of wolves, I don't think them being unsummoned is even the issue, is that the companion ability changes to Howl after Permanent Bond summons one wolf and prevents you from summoning more. It only happens when another minion (including non-companions like totems) is active. IE, a warcry totem or Frenzy totem causes the companion ability to change from Summon Wolves to Howl until it goes away. You could summon any other companion if you wanted to, just not more wolves.
I ran a few scenarios.
- Took a Lightning Wolves build.
- Re-spec'd Summon Wolf and did not take Permanent Bond or Pack Hunters, and wearing The Fang. Was able to summon 4 wolves.
- When I changed zones, 3 of them went poof. Re-summoned easily and got 3 wolves back.
- Equipping Artor's Legacy gave me 5 wolves. Still lose all but 1 wolf changing zones or putting a point into a wolf-related skill. The other 4 re-summoned with no flaming hoops through which to jump.
- All the above without PB, Tyrant's Skull, or another companion type.
- Summoning a tiger reduces wolves to 4. Changing zones reduces to 1 wolf and 1 tiger. Resummoning wolves easy.
- Equipped Tyrantโs Skull (TS). Changed zones, lost all wolves save 1 as before. Able to resummon 3 wolves for 4 total. Minor inconvenience.
- Took Pack Hunters. Now I donโt lose wolves when changing zones or putting a point in anything wolf-related.
So the โsolutionโ is NOT take Perm Bond unless you intend to go with a Highlander build, though you can still get multiple wolves (plus any other companion) but flaming hoops required. Best part is TS can now be equipped and any +x to minion skills used without losing wolves. Still some odd things happening in certain scenarios. Iโd be happy to re-post this in known-issues-and-bugs if you think itโll help.

Right, they do primarily use C#.
If it does, probably not for a (long) while. Unity itself is behind in .NET and C# versions, and then Last Epoch is (somewhat intentionally afaik) behind in Unity versions.
Damn, Even .net 9 boasts quite good improvements. .net 10 is a. absolute beast, though
Looking at Unity itself (the support page), even if the team uses the latest unity version, it only supports .net framework 4.8 and .net standard 2.1 ๐ข
I'm definitely sad about that one. .NET Conf showcased some amazing gains to be had, but hey, if Unity doesn't think they need to support it, they probably won't.

Well I looked a little deeper and I can't find where it is setting the movespeed increase but it definately exists. From some very rough testing, it appears that you go approximately 50% faster than base running speed. I think it has to be a fixed speed though as your character's movement speed stat is being affected.
Warning: Steam failed to synchronize Last Epoch saves with Steam Cloud. Has anyone else gotten this error? I canโt enter the game.
Should just be able to tell it to play anyway. Unless you play offline this has no consequences

Yes, it's a Steam error that can happen with any game. It doesn't really have anything to do with LE specifically and more just means that your local files didn't sync. If you're playing online the worst this could do is make your game settings revert. Otherwise, you might want to backup your offline saves before forcing a continue.

This is probably a stupid idea, but i'm going to ask anyways: since the DLC is so controversial, would ya'll consider to give (at least) the last 2 acts of Orobyss for free (not saying the classes or expansion ect) for the people who have already invested/payed for the game prior? So that way people don't complain about not having a completed campaign and needing to pay extra to get the base game's completed story? Obviously this is just a third party asking a very specific question without criticizing, but I thought maybe it'd be a decent, happy medium. If not, obviously that's what i'd assume, but just trying to put that idea out there

Who actually dreamt up the whole style of this game with regards to its Era time travelling and the black hole void abyss protruding into it? I really do love the style of it a lot and am generally terrible with names and don't believe in idolatry but I do enjoy this style a lot and it made me wonder, who actually dreamt this game up? I get that there are a lot of devs, and everyone that has ever worked on it has contributed to how cool the entire game is as a whole. But I do think it is very cool, even a lot of the uniques are very cool styles I think. I just looted this Event Horizon and it was enjoyable reading it and thinking about how cool it could be on a random thematic build of some type. But it generally made me wonder, is it a big team effort? I know I could research it probably but I am not great at that so just asking works better for me usually. Props to everyone for making such a cool game though. I am really excited that I think I heard you say the next chapter or expansion or whatever is going to be called Orobyss which gets me pretty excited too as I think he is good Villain I like him a lot and can't wait to see what that is all about.

The initial story nugget and primary world building came from our Loremaster Kyle. In the early days of the project we would all get in voice chat and listening to story time from Kyle. I've had him on as a special guest for streams a few times now and I plan on getting him on again sometime this spring (maybe summer).
There are a lot of elements that were thought up by other people to fit into the world so it has become very collaborative with creative efforts spreading out but Kyle is still steering the story ship.
You guys need to build the hype towards March 14 because there is only 7 fridays left where you can hype it.
Prior to the 2nd roadmap and the teasers that you have shown already , there wasnt much to get excited on.
Then when the second roadmap came , we got excited for the season but we want that momentum from the 2nd roadmap to continue and not fizzle out.

I believe that what Last Epoch players want is to be reassured. After the acquisition, the roadmap, and the long time between seasons, the community wants to be reassured. The Friday livestreams help keep players engaged and also allow them to see the evolution of the game. You lose nothing by sharing certain information.
Hello Everyone, thank you Mike for the stream yesterday. I forgot to ask what I was wondering for a while now. In the announcement the new Echo Chains were presented. New info about them will come later, but I'm still going to ask ๐ Are the Echo Chains main focus the QoL of not having to return to the Monolith panel between runs, or is it more about the linked related echos and the reward from the last in the chain? Or both?
Historically the reason behind not being able to go from one echo directly to another has been a technical limitation. And just 3 months ago this was re-stated #๐จโask-the-devs-not-support-no-bugs message .
Basically how echoes and the echo of a world area work is that they're all in the same "instance". Meaning they're both in the same area, hence why you don't need any load time when you teleport out of an echo and to the echo of a world area. you're literally just teleporting really far away in the same area, like using the mage teleport spell but super far. The echo of a world island is actually just super far to the left of where echoes load in iirc. The reason you need to go to it is so that the game can basically get rid of everything from the old echo and then load all the new stuff for the new echo in the same spot. So if echo chains were to be able to get rid of the need for the echo of a world pitstop then we'd likely get the same ability to do so for normal echoes as well, since like Mike said in the linked comment, it's something they'd like to do (But still weren't able to do as of just 3 months ago, and a couple months before the roadmap in which they were announced).

That's actually super handy to know. I always just assumed each echo was it's own instance and it was always annoying to have to drop party to go do a quick favour farm or prophecy without knowing why. Chains look fanfreakingtastic~

There are no plans to stop the dev streams. I'm personally feeling down about them after the reception from the last one. I thought it went well but the volume of public and private messages I've received telling me how bad it went has made me rethink it.
I don't think they serve the same purpose as they once did and I'm not sure I have anything worth while to share with the community any more other than just being a conduit for new information. I love doing them and I wish me rambling about the game and talking about design was enough but it doesn't feel like it is any more.
It's more about restructuring the echo web.
Personally, I enjoy your insights about how you and the team make design decisions and the anecdotes about how things came to be, etc.
Of course I'm always hoping for teasers and info, but I do enjoy the stream even without new info.

Thatโs a very odd mistake to show a skill for changes, then it never gets any. If it was not planned for any updates, how does the skill get added in the trailer showing off the updates for the session.

Nah it's a totally understandable question. I'm guessing there was a simple mix-up. The trailer says there will be balance changes to necromancer minions and shows the icons for the abomination and skeletons, when in reality the changes were to abomination and dread shade. It's hard to know exactly what or why it happened especially since it's been almost half a year since then. But it's a fairly simple mistake to make tbh, the person who was giving the notes to the person making the trailer could've just mistakenly put skeletons & abom instead of dread shade & abom or something along those lines.
I guess my question is based around the trailer said/showed a picture, that said "Balance changes to Necromancer Minions" and 2 icons under it. One for Summon Abomb. Yes it got changes. The other is for Summon Skeleton. There have not been updates to that at all. Why show that skill and say it is getting "Balance changes" if zero changes was planed.
Can EHG confirm it? Is this something that was not able to complete for S3 in time? Can I look forward to Necromancer minions changes in Season 4?

It gets brought up from time to time. I think it will happen at some point. I think that if it does, it will probably be tied to some other mechanic at the same time. I was hoping for it to happen at the same time as the weaver idol stuff but it was a pretty full patch already.
From an implementation perspective, is it viable to change the idol slot configuration based on an equipped item/blessing? Or would it cause a pile of nasty side effects?

I did forget, sorry. I also think I may have asked the wrong question at the time. I never asked about the base price but rather the potential of a DLC price. Regardless, the answer I got was basically that they would handle communication about all price stuff when they knew. So maybe even less than a non-answer, a non-question because I didn't even ask it right?
I think we kinda know that there won't be a DLC price since the official communication has been "DLC will be free with the base game", so it certainly would be a surprise if the DLC actually would end up coming with a price tag.
I'd say it's a bit logically inconsistent for the team to be able to definitely state that the DLC will be free while at the same time claiming to "not know yet" about DLC pricing (isn't it supposed to be free?), but I understand that the team might not feel like the community's reaction to the straight answer will be in their best interest, so we'll just have to read between the lines on what that means.

Yes, the question is whether the base game, after the free expansion is bundled with it, will come at a new price. This specifically came because the announcement particularly worded the expansion as being free for "previous owners", while the PS5 players and new players will buyt it in "one updated purchase". Instead of just "expansion will be a free update".

Hey! Got a technical dev question: I was wondering the other day about how item generation works in a game of this scale? In particular, if loot is randomized and you need to make a patch to fix some broken interaction or an affix needs to be nerfed, do you use a mapper to convert items properties between game versions, is there a lookup matrix by tier/type/etc. for item properties, or is it something else entirely?
Affixes are in a list each with their own ID. Normal items are generated through a series of checks whos odds are influenced by a variety of factors (things like rarity from corruption, blessings etc) to determine rarity (white, blue, yellow etc), base type etc.
Unique and set items have their own ID's (and list) and each of their stats are a property of the unique itself.
So if you'd need to change an affix you'd go to that affixes ID in the list and change its properties. Same goes for a unique/set item.
I might have gotten a detail or two wrong but there's no huge matrix or anything you gotta scour through, that I'm fairly confident of

I figured uniques and set items would be fairly easy to change between versions, but I'm definitely curious about what happens if a white, blue, purple, etc. item gets generated that shouldn't have been. Maybe a couple of affixes are too strong to regularly drop together on one item, a dev realizes it via some in-game telemetry, then a patch needs to be made; in that case, something needs to happen to adjust all items where the issue occurred. I'm curious to know what that scenario looks like!
There's no such scenario, any affix can generate with any other affix. They wouldn't restrict them from dropping together but would instead change / nerf one or both affixes. Since you'd be able to craft them together regardless even if they couldn't drop together initially.
Each affix has a "weight" (reroll chance). So if you want an affix to be rarer you simply increase the reroll chance (decrease the weight)

But usually if an affix is just straight up too strong they'll simply nerf its values.
And no, there wouldn't be a need to adjust "all items where the issue occurred" (I understood this as all items where these two affixes can roll together, or a problematic scenario happening in general). You'd only need to change the affix(es)/base type in question.

For sure! I really appreciate the answer -- the underlying technical decisions for how and why items are generated are pretty crucial to a game like this, so I was curious to examine what the plan of action is when things go wrong in production.
When an item is serialized and put into a string which can be decoded to regenerate that exact item in the future, each affix is stored as ID, Tier and Roll. When the item is loaded, the affixes get decoded and set. So if we want to change the power of an item, we just change the affix in the list and every single item in the game automatically updates to respect that.
Now, sometimes we want to remove an affix from the game all together, when that happens, we actually seal the existing affix on the item and it creates a legacy item that can't be created any more. This hasn't happened since I think 1.1 was released so they are quite rare and not very powerful any more.

Sealing to make a legacy item is a neat workaround for a case like that, though now I'm curious to know what happened to the items in player inventories that already had sealed affixes? Did the newly sealed affix override the old one, get discarded, or are there some special items that can have more than one sealed affix?
There are also items from pre 1.0 which just kept their affix as is (like this flat armour ring I have for example).
If it happened twice, it would get 2 sealed affixes. It is possible to do this.
The flat armor is what potion drop chance was changed to when that affix was disabled on rings

I can't remember which parts of bladestorm have been revealed so I can't really speak to that directly. I'm pretty sure that just in general triggered shurikens while you have the blade shield node behave the same as direct cast versions.

Yes, at a certain point it will hit a hard cap of sealed affixes as the item serialization can only be so long. (I don't know what that number is off the top of my head.)
cool - my guess is that cap is higher than it'd ever be reasonable to acquire in game because you'd have to a) have all the legacy affixes on an item before they go legacy and b) have the FP to continue adding more but always fun to learn little things about how the game works ๐
Hey Mike are there plans to introduce more class specific gear (helmet/body armor/relic) to support more builds in this upcoming season/cycle?
I remember in the past items had a total of 6 affix "slots" with only 4 being used, but now that we can seal a normal affix as well as a T8 affix, are all the "slots" taken or were sealed affixes never using the same "slots" to begin with?

yea, you'd have to be able to predict which ones were being changed and the FP limit would eventually stop you before it happened probably.
We don't current have plans to branch out to more slots having class specific bases.
the "slots" are mostly just a UI construct and arbitrary restriction we place on them. It's less that we aren't using the same slots and more that there no spoon.

oh no not more slots having class specific stuff, like sentinel getting a body armor for a spellcaster sentinel, mage getting a body armor for melee focused for Spellblade

In general, when there is a playstyle or archetype that is quite popular, we work hard to not destroy that through balance or mechanical changes.

Good afternoon! I had some questions about dungeon keys. Is there a level requirement to start dropping Dungeon Keys? Or could a character start dropping them very rarely from level 1? Is there a campaign progression/area level requirement to drop them? Does it differ between keys?
Basically right after the associated dungeon.
the game guide says that they drop at a higher level than tier 1 of the dungeon, generally this means that the first zone that you can drop the keys in is the zone where the dungeon would drop you out after completing it

EHG is full-remote. Does it mean that time zones are the hardest ones in terms of communication cost? If not, what point is the hardest one?
We run the studio on a very americas (north/central/south) time schedule so even people who work elsewhere around the world still do most of their work during those times. It is tricky to coordinate time zones sometimes but part of signing up is knowing that you'll be working in the evening if you're in say Europe for example. This is a big positive for some people too.
The point was so that if people were racing, who gets to the end first wasn't dictated by an early lucky key drop. Personally, I think this might have put a damper on the enfranchised player leveling experience though. I think that personally I'd like to see T1 of the dungeons not even cost a key.

If there were no key cost to enter t1 dungeons, do you think that a more difficult t1 encounter would maybe be something youd want, to help it act more as a 'the story is the intended way, if you cant do this, you should be doing story' type of gating? Yea, I think very very few players could complete the t1 dungeon at the current difficulty on their first character. (Assuming that the dungeon didn't cost a key). It might need some adjustments.
If it were a reasonable campaign option for skilled, experienced players on their season starters, I think that would probably be a positive thing. I'm not sure on this though.

Echo - Rampant Coast - I believe that the Rift Beast is bugged. Let me explain: You did not include in your calculation the lag... so for me it is totally shitty. Beast spit fire and I die from behind it. Not sure what were you thinking when coding a beast when you can't react because of the netwrok lag ????
Yes you can see that the beast will spit fire, you move away but in next 200 milliseconds the fire is somewhere else. For me it is incompetent coding to include such skills that require 0 ms reaction time
With enough lag nothing would be possible to react to. Enemy attacks are designed with a reasonable amount of delay in mind. If all enemies were made with massive ping in mind the game would be really jank for people who don't have high ping. This doesn't really have anything to do with it being bugged or badly coded

No this is totally not true. When i circle around the best the beast will follow me with it's skill. So the skill from Rift beast are different then 99% of other attacks/skills.

Looks like I missed some fun in here over the weekend. The others are right that this isn't a great place to put bug reports because we don't pull reports from here. The in game bug reporting tool [F8] goes directly into our triage system so that is by far the most effective at getting us to act on something.
With regards to the ping consideration and abilities, we do actually add in ping consideration for abilities so they are visually in sync with the server. Character rotation however isn't completely reliable and is one place that can get desynced a bit. Abilities which have high dot damage and expect you to move out of them immediately should have a vfx warning that is reliably synced though. I'm not 100% sure which ability you're talking about but you might have to look more at the vfx than the character rotation to get a better idea of what is actually happening.

There are abilities like ring of fire which it can disappear or absolutely kill you without even any input almost from the rift beast ,good thing is we dont loose anything so you hope for better rng abilities and go again,that being said less aoe dot abilities that last a long time will be appreciated for the future mobs

Any professional ways which available to everyone can be applied at judging what's a good audio for a skill/single action/combat music/environment sound? How to determine the most matched sound for them based on the vibe want to express?
I want to listen the lecture of music composers and audio designers (answers from them I mean)
Reason: I mean I need to bring many questions when I'm experiencing something if I want to form the own opinions for something so I'm finding a common mode which not only can apply le, but also another games even different medias like pure music and movies so I can use this system to analyze anything about audio. I wonder what am I seeking in music so I would attract by some special soundtracks ๐ค
You don't really need an education/knowhow to give feedback on it. If there's any skill/thing you feel for whatever reason (you yourself don't even need to know the reason) either doesn't fit the skill, doesn't have enough impact, sounds weird etc then that's valid feedback. Pretty much any sounds that brings you negative emotion in any way can be channeled into good feedback
That sounds like a formal education in sound recording probably to be honest though is what you want.
Any reason we did not get any event in the downtime between seasons? Even re-releasing that undead event we already had (maybe add some whacky modifiers as extra) would have at least be something...

It also does eat up quite a few resources to put out. I know it seems like a tiny thing but even a ladder reset is a drain on the next season that needs to be considered.

the 'essence devourer' lich passive says "you deal more damage over time based on your current health drained per second", does the "% of current health lost per second" on exsanguinous count towards this? I was assuming the answer was yes but just noticed that on the character sheet the 20% from exsang is listed as its own stat which doesn't include the "% of current health drained per second" from the passive tree

Yeah exsang, last steps etc don't "drain" your health, they make you "lose" health. It even says in the alt text that they're not affected by drain modifiers, and as such they wouldn't affect things that rely on drain either.

Figured so but saw a discussion in the Acolyte channel that got me wondering
There are certain situations where snapshotting is intended. For example, shooting a fireball. You don't want that fireball's stats to change as it's flying across the screen. This makes the whole concept of intended vs not a little fuzzy. So there are certain situations that seem like an unintended side effect but are intended for consistency reasons.
You'll usually only get my replies here so you'll have to settle for just 1 answer. It's also hard to answer questions like this as the one I want to see the most is coming at some point but I can't spoil it.
As for an affix I would remove, we already kinda are slowly phasing it out and that is any increase to a percentage based stat. The most notable example is increased critical strike chance.
thats interesting. is it to make getting 100% crit more rewarding and/or play around mechanics? (ex. meteor node that says staying above 400 mana makes meteor crit all the time). whats the reasoning if you can share

It's less about crit specifically and more just that we get a TON of bug reports that go something like "I just got an item that has 40% crit on it but my crit chance barely changed. Fix now!" Increasing a percentage based stat by a percentage is not intuitive to many players and having smaller number flat crit instead doesn't really change much in the long run when players are often capping their crit chance anyways.

We haven't given a clear answer on this and we will be sharing more details about the system as it gets closer to launch. Try not to listen to speculation too hard.

Just FWIW, the rune does not require forging potential and specifically states it removes all Weaver's Touch, which is something that can only appear on class-specific idols currently.

Are there any plans to improve or make changes to non class specific idols (Small Etteran, Minor Lagonian, Humble Etteran, Stout Lagonian)? Currently, they are only used during the first playthrough of the campaign and are inferior in every way to their Weaver's versions, unlike the larger idols, which can be enchanted
That's fair enough, to be more specific I am referring to say in an Abomination build where you can snapshot skills onto for example thus exceeding the limitation of the number of skills we the player can usually specialise in. Would this kind of snapshotting be considered intentional or just an uninitended side affect of how skills are currently implemented?
Just to be super clear, you're talking about summoning your abom, unspecializing a skill, specializing a different skill, putting points into that, leveling it up to get the rest of the points and then going into a boss fight? So the resummoning process includes a step where you have to relevel a skill from 10-20?
This is a tough one to reply to because on primcipal I can't really answer this because I decline to answer questions like this just in general. However, last week on stream someone asked me if I thought that this was a problem. My reply was that no, I didn't think it was a problem.
Yeah, like being able to put a fully specced say Infernal Shade onto your Abom, specialising it but still getting all the benefits from it and then speccing into something else essentially getting the benefit from 6 specialised skills circumventing the in-game limitation of only being able to specialise 5 skills.
despecializing infernal shade should delete all existing infernal shades and if it doesn't, that's a bug.

They have confirmed the reflect build that uses the primordial chest armor will be nerfed. I don't remember where exactly they said it, though.
how does exp scaling work, is 100kc for a level 40 similar to 1000 kc, whats the math on the penalty?
When your character is a lower level compared to the area level and you're playing alone you get XP up to 10 levels above your character level, matching the area level.
So for example a level 40 in a level 60 area gets xp as if the area is level 50, if the area was level 100 (such as in empowered echoes) the character would still only get XP as if the area level was 50.
The corruption experience modifier is unaffected by this. So let's say at corruption x we have a +100% experience modifier. Our level 40 character gets experience as if they were in a level 50 area, which is then doubled.
Now let's say at corruption y the experience modifier is +300%. Our level 40 character would still get experience as if the area level was 50, but quadrupled. So double what they would've gotten at x corruption.
So basically the corruption experience scaling works the same proportionally speaking even when you're a lower level than the area level.
If you would've gotten double the xp in one corruption vs another at character level 100 you'll get double the xp no matter what your character level is.
An important note for boosting a character is that this 10 level limit will vary depending on the difference in party character levels. For example if you're playing a level 10 character and your friend is playing a level 70 character and you guys are in an area level 40 zone. You'll only get experience as if the area level was 12, instead of the area level 20 experience you would've gotten if you were alone. This is one of the reasons power leveling isn't very good on LE, but you can still power level somewhat decently at high enough corruption.

Massive variance. There are unique item ideas that have sat on a notepad beside my desk for years before finally finding a home. There are others that get added in the middle of a design meeting for something else because someone has an idea that can be implemented with no code changes. Typically they take about a week from start to finish to go through design scrutiny, implementation, QA and art.

Last I heard about the pull/push effects was that they were being avoided in new stuff because they are hard to make work as you would like.
What's the current direction with them, still trying to make them work or will they slowly be phased out completely?
they better not stop warcry pulling its insanely good at tugging things towards me when they are standing in their own dot fields and stuff to melee them. Tornado is also amazing
The current plan is the same as it's always been, fix the positioning discrepancies and make them play nice. It's a long process, we've made some back end changes that have progressed that goal but it's still not done. We are continuing to be very cautious with them and not add more sources of it for the time being.
We aren't removing the access to push/pull effects in those abilities.
We are still working out the best way to add new gameplay styles and thematic character types to the game. I've got a base class that I would really like to add to the game and I'm definitely not slowly fleshing it out in the evenings with hopes that it eventually gets approved or anything like that...
We've got plans for base/mastery classes that I don't know the order that things will happen in. We are focused on the upcoming class at the moment.

This is living architecture made by the Draal, the insect species encountered in the Ancient Era that dies off between then and the late eras. As far as exclusive animals, there is less of this between the Divine, Imperial, and Ruined Eras due to the shorter gaps in time between them and the Ancient Era (not counting the many mass extinctions due to the void's presence in the Ruined Era). Draal, dragons, and other large and formidable wildlife ended up not lasting long past the Ancient Era due to the efforts of the gods.
Not quite sure if I understand the question, but the main other symbolism you see associated with flame in Eterra is power, dominance, destruction, pride, etc. largely due to Rahyeh and his connection to flame.
The firebit is a part of the Temple of Eterra, and was inspired by events from before the Ancient Era related to the Elysians, the culture that built the temple.
I'm back to ask about warpath being weird. To make this easier I'm gonna call the skill you cast warpath and the skill warpath casts (Warpath) that actually does the hitting "slash".
If I've understood it correctly warpath is technically just a channeled skill that slows you by 20% and prevents you from being stunned while periodically casting slash. So the area, melee and physical tags are technically false tags that serve a functional purpose since they let it interact with things like + level to those tags.
On LE tools the slash skill has the physical, melee, area, movement, and strength tags. But not the channeled tag which I find a little confusing considering it gets the movement tag despite doing nothing movement related. But I guess it's because everything channelling related is "while channelling" so it wouldn't matter either way.
Here's the actual question now. Why does slash trigger the chariot boots but not warpath. Since if warpath did trigger them you'd think the entire channel would get the bonus which isn't the case afaik, instead one slash cast gets the bonus every time it comes off cooldown. If both warpath and slash genuinely have the movement tag in its entirety shouldn't the end result be that you sometimes double dip with chariot? As in warpath gets the bonus for the entire channel which gets passed down to slash which it in of itself can also get the bonus whenever it's off cool down. Is this a manually coded exception or is there something I'm not understanding regarding tags or inheritance that stops it?
Actually how come warpath doesn't snapshot way more in general, I get it's slash doing the hitting but it should inherit snapshotted stats from warpath no? Or is it coded so that it's not warpath casting slash but the player character and it just kinda yoinks the warpath tree?

It sounds like they are very focused on achieving balance. I think seasonal ARPGs donโt need balance as much as they need reshuffles.
Sadly I wouldnโt dare bet that we get many numerical changes based on what he wrote there.
Sometimes it is just a simple number tweak that can improve a skill, and we just need the awareness to make the change.
But I find it's consistently a valuable use of time to do so, and I try my best to identify places where we can just throw in quick number buffs to make things viable for players who want to enjoy that skill.
Feels like they are getting more inclined to do small numerical changes to get more skills in the spotlight

Intentional, conversions affecting pretty much everything is a newer design. Not all old skills have had it retroactively changed yet but it is something they're doing over time

-The spriggan assists me in chasing down the Titan by sending her consciousness from tree to tree.
-The spriggan feel everyone is limited by time but I'm not, so she gave me a branch to regrow her one day. (??? No impression for I have did that in the next trip in the end of time.)

-The last epoch shard is in temple of Eterra, it's what elder Gaspar told me.
-Ruins of Welryn is the first location I must pass through, I help an immortal undead begging to die here and learnt immortal empire is ruled Welryn before void corrupted here
-Symbol of hope, a gift from Oracle long time ago help Welryn to become the last place to be corrupted
-Outcast is a group of people who lived near temple of Eterra while immortal empire rule Welryn.
-A queen lead all outcasts, outcasts are descendancy of keepers, no info about why outcasts did everything they could to hide the shard from the emperor. (??? Emperor? Aren't they led by a queen?)
-I find a new type of shard calls tear of reality, which create a portal to a time I need to go. But the fate tell me to go to ancient eras every time. (??? Why the fate call me so?)
-The whisper from epoch shards I hold when I arrive at temple of eterra ask me if I've come to make it whole and speaks of Eterraโs demise. After that, they led me to what I need to go.
-I defeat the emperor here and get the last epoch shard.
(Oh. Chapter 4 is for this thing, it explains the story behind the outcasts and the emperor. Go on making my note tomorrow.)
I'd have to check to be sure but I think so. The main reason I think it works is that warpath modifies the chance so it's likely just giving you the stat "1000% chance to apply Fiery Inquisition on melee hit". If it is just a stat being handed out (likely) then generic increases to all stats like from Covenant of Light, should apply to it. And yes, 20% increase on 1000% is 1200%
would be really easy to test in game though wouldn't it?
Speaking of warpath, I was wondering how it worked in regards to why it seemingly doesn't really snapshot even though my intuition tells me it should with how I understand it working.

right, totally forgot about that. I'll have to do some digging to find out why. Warpath is kinda crazy. It has had to be manually warped around so many effects.

the currency for the trade...? (??? This part relevant to gameplay design more so I'm confused what the relationship between gameplay and the story)

The story
-All gods died in a war in divine era. (??? Why a war here? Why it happen? What it happen? When it happen? How it end?)
-An opportunistic person become a emperor with immortal power they found and use it to rule Welryn thousands of years, from divine era to imperial era. (??? Who found that? How are they found? Why this power is sustainable?)
-Immortal army of emperor is perished slowly over the years.
-Orobyss become the new emperor, then...? No story to continue.
-I travel to imperial era by following Gasper's guide, see outcasts are stopping whatever led the void in, which mean stop emperor.
-A truth I found from the behind of sealed door after took the seal from past time is immortal gift from emperor isn't immortal without draining living essence.
-It's why the immortal empire is perished slowly and the emperor turned into the void after years. Living essences are scarce, more and more zombies are stacked.
-Yulina, the queen of outcast, is the key to find where emperor is. (??? Wait what can I stop by killing the emperor? How am I know Yulina is the only flaw for getting close to the emperor?)
-Alric, a mage who know where the entrance of emperor's hideout, was captured and located in the west of Welryn, it's what I know after rescued a prisoner and used a magical ring he left. (??? I don't understand who's the ring's owner and... I don't know how to active the magic but I know where outcast's hideout is? Alright the logic is quite chaos)
-I go to lake liath, where outcasts are settled, met a seer, be told Alric was captured by Admiral Harton. (??? Harton was took the order of emperor to capture Alric? Why emperor dispatch him to capture Alric? Alric is the only person who knows where emperor hides?)
-I catch up Harton on his dreadnaught and rescue Alric, decide to jump off the ship with him to reach a beach.
- Chapter 5

This is a Legendary Amulet and 4 of the categories of outcomes. There are more categories of outcomes than just this.
Each category that makes positive changes has a very large pool of potential outcomes. Pictured below is adding another affix from the normal pool and adding an affix from the corrupted pool.
There are other categories. I just thought that putting 'You gain Madness" on an item would be too esoteric and would create way too many questions.

Is there a reason for the "ruined item" subtext to be added to the item in that particular outcome? How come removing the legendary affixes didn't count as it being "ruined" for example?

Im just here to say that im very surprised at how seemingly pedestrian the outcomes are considering the dramatic effects "corrupting" items apply in other games in the genre. I want to assume that these examples are mild on purpose
As of now, I don't see any reason to risk corruption on anything that isn't easily replacable, as the gains on the outcomes appear really meh. At best I'd roll a MG char and look for someone else to take the risks and just farm gold to buy it.
I was expecting corruption to be something like +skill affixes or other effects you can't normally get. I can't see that I'd want to risk something like a 2 LP Nihilus for maybe getting an additional +necrotic resistance affix, or a slight bonus to crit multiplier that also comes with a negative.
So I guess I need to put this in the text but as I was explaining on stream, these are some of the categories of things that can happen. There is a very wide range of outcomes in each of these and other categories. We are scratching the surface here.
There are unique effects that you can't get anywhere else, much more interesting that just plain old + skills.
I guess if we don't show the best outcome, the ones that are shown are assumed to be the best. Personally I wouldn't want to know the possible outcomes before playing.
Would we be getting a better idea of the potential range of things we could get corrupted onto items in the future before the patch comes out?
I think that knowing at least some of the potential extremes could help generating interest and expectations out of these systems

Hi Mike, I know Upheaval is an old skill but was the design intentional with a tradeoff by having Shockwave replace Upheavals hit and deal less damage but instead have AoE?
ruined is "can't be equipped" we just wanted to let you keep it for posterity if you wanted. I expect it to be dropped most of the time.
yea, that's a very common tradeoff, gonna hit more things? deal less damage to each.
If Upheaval (lets say it has a lot of AoE) hit 5 thorn totems and they all produce a shockwave, do you know if it would hit the enemy 5 times or register as 1 hit?
I'm not sure but it shouldn't be too hard to test really, give your minions some ailment chance and go to the test dummy, you'll be able to tell quite quickly if they all apply or not.

The story
-My goal is find the teleporter to sneak into backdoor of emperor's citadel. (I'm mot sure if I understand it right and why I need to find a teleporter)
-Alric have an ally in Majโelka. it's a oracle.
-A friendly imperial scholar/historian told me the exist of Nagasa, a serpent like race that served under Majasa after wanted me help for some research don't approve by Zerrick.
-Nagasa lives under a caste system that is each represented by a gem (Emerald-Lower Class, Ruby-Warriors, Sapphire-Scholars, Diamond-Upper Class). Maj'elka is their home and Majasa rules Maj'elka. (Am I right?)
-Before I meet the Oracle, you decide to help one of them, the Shrine Maiden, with the peopleโs water shortage first by finding a water tablet in the Ruined Era once used by the Sapphire Nagasa to purify water.
-The entrance of temporal sanctum is near where water tablet is so I head toward the door, it's a palace no one knows its exist.
-The oracle is a diamond nagasa, know me and know me have an epoch but surprised to see me.
-Zerrick is mining a dead titan and using its innard to power a makeshift waypoint they made when the Oracle opens a hidden path to the teleporter you seek. (??? Why the story tell me that? I even no idea who Zerrick is and why he is here)
-I used the teleporter with Alric after defeated Zerrick and sneak into somewhere near the emperorโs citadel.
The 3rd dungeon
-**I must say it's the story make the most sense so far. Very cool. **
-Julra, a nasaga chronomancer come from divine era and travel to ruined era, have the same findings with me.
-The finding is the void will cause a devastation, she tried to prevent what she saw from future happen so she asked Apophis for help but she got no response. (??? I'm curious about the story of Apophis now.)
-Julra built a sanctum to allow anyone come straight to her, but they must own epoch because it's a palace can be pass through by switching timeline only.
-Julra was trapped in ruined era because eternal cache she possessed can buff her but it's the cost she must pay.
-I own the epoch so I come to pursue her but Julra lost her mind after be trapped so long time so I have to defend myself and kill her, get access for using eternal cache is the plus.
- Chapter 6
-I meet Yulia, the right hand of the emperor, an immortal undead that is friendly to you and wants to help you take him down. But neither she nor Alric trusts each other.
-Alric leads you through aqueducts and sewers as close as he can to the capital, but his knowledge of the Emperorโs Citadel is limited and eventually I'm forced to trust Yulia.
-Once you are alone with Yulia, she acts like she knows me and bring me to the citadel through sewers because sewers can cover the stench from imperial patrols.
-It was a trap. Yulia betrays you and both Harton and Zerrick get resurrected, Alric is dead without a reason. (?????????????????????????? Sorry my brain can't analyze this part. I give the original paragraph here if anyone interested in helping me.)
Original paragraph:
You deal with Yulia, kill off Harton and Zerrick, again, but before the emperor can finish you off, he is frozen in place by Yulia, the betrayer. Yulia tells you nowโs your chance to use the Lance of Heorot to finish off the emperor. You obviously donโt have it nor know what she is talking about. So, what is she talking about? Well, in a few moments you will travel back in time to your time, to the Divine Era, where you will meet Yulia from your time and indeed make plans to get and prepare the Lance of Heorot as a god killing weapon. Yulia is not a time traveler like you, so your paths crossed in the wrong order. From her point of view, you made the plan, got the Lance, prepared it and are now in possession of it to kill whatever threat you face, that threat being the emperor right now. You take the opportunity to escape and leave undead Yulia behind to be killed off camera for her betrayal (once the emperor is no longer impaled).
1.0 Edit: So, they made a cinematic, which makes things way more ambiguous and quite possibly changes a few things. For starters Yulia doesnโt seem to know youโre a time traveler now like she did before 1.0 and she doesnโt talk about you lying to Alric about who you really were. Sheโs not the one telling you to go to the past anymore for the lance so (you just randomly end up there) that fixes a bootstrap paradox, but it now makes the player doubly confused about what the hell just happened. Also, you canโt understand Alric dies unless you click on him now.
So, why it's a trap? Why Yulia want to make a trap? Why Alric is died?
The support is terrible. No response to messages. Lack of understanding for the player. One single answer to the task, and then zero answers. Please pass the information to the support to respond to emails when someone writes.

Hi Mike. Do the negative changes draw from a similarly large pool of potential outcomes? Tbh. none of the outcomes shown above are worth the risk.
Maybe not for your first red ring but people will be taking the risk.
And no, there are just a few negative, bricked is bricked, no point in making hundreds of flavors of bricked.
But that's not really what you should care about, the chance of bad or good outcome in general is the risk factor
Looks like 1 Upheaval regardless of hits from monsters or totems producing Shockwaves only hit once, I would expect totems to at least hit multiple times because of investments. 
Can we expect a good load of content for the endgame beside those runes of corruption? I dont ask for content to be revealed, i just want to get hyped ๐
We know that we're getting echo chains and omen windows which would both be endgame things. You'll have to wait on further details regarding them

Technically no but I'm stretching the definition of item a little to be the literal thing. It can affect set items. I'm not going to go into more detail on specific types of things it can or can't do yet.

yeah I figured, my question was mostly about Sets, since some of them are pretty nutty items that offer something unique (shattered lance sword w/ decimate, isadora's belt with castspeed) so being able to add something to those items might make them a bit more usable at endgame, which sounds fun
Edit: heck with the amount of armor isadora's belt provides if it gets cleanse/health of some sort I can see it being used a fair bit

I think mike also showed in one dev stream, that every item which is moveable into the crafting slot can be corrupted, but i am not 100% sure
Now I'm not saying you can or can't do anything. Just conveying the meaning of the previous messages since it seems you thought mike confirmed we're getting corrupted lenses and blessings, which he did not.

A lot of the details should be found by the community instead of being told this early that "here are all the possible results on all the items that you can"
He showed that class idols are able to be moved into the crafting menu but not generic ones, hinting that maybe you'd be able to corrupt class idols (which to be fair you could deduce from the fact that the rune of corruption mentions weavers touch)
If class idols can be corrupted, I can't find reasons why normal idols and unique idols can't.
(Wait, what about corrupting keys? ๐ค They're items too. Hah what happen if different woven echoes are corrupted? Corrupted blessings and lens is a cool idea. I know the hardest part is figure out which buff players want to see from them)
Players must play a long time to find enough runes of corruptions to verify which items can be corrupted I'm sure. So this question must time-consuming to find answers. It's why I want to ask it here to get many hints to be effective.

I love all the theories. So far the only items that we have explicitly confirmed to be corrupt-able are legendary and set items.
There are (hopefully obviously) many more but those are the only ones we've actually explicitly said I think.
We will be sharing details of the full range of the system in a devblog as usual.
I'm glad people are interested and speculating on what is to come. This is a teaser after all.

EHG Mike showed up 4 "teasers" for S4 with corruption.
3 of them was BAD, negative corruption. In one of the 4 teasers the "best" result was a + to a resistance .
This was not exciting. It did not create hype for the new system coming in S4.
In fact it had the opposite effect.
The example shown from EHG and Mike on Friday was a Nihilis, Let me think about this. How long does it take to kill Aberroth on a fresh season start?
40-60 hours? Maybe I'm wrong on this time. I'm sure it varies from player to player.
We all know getting a "Good Nihilis" take multiple kills where getting a Nihilis that does not have negative effects on it from default, is sometimes a rare as hell.
How how long would it take to get a 2 LP Nihilis? 100-120 hours a of game time?
Now then getting the perfect Exalted item to slam into a 2 LP Nihilis?
1 Affix we can guarantee to be transferred to this amazing new item we got, and one affix is at random (We all know the 2nd one is going to be one affix we don't want to come over.)
After all this time and effort we now try to go corrupt it! And we get what?
Bricking the item? Downgrading from a legendary? Getting negative crit chance?
Now why would I ever interact with this new system knowing that I will more then likely make this item, I just spent 100-120 hours on getting rolled just more my character.
To make it worse?
No, nope, hell no.
I will not interact with this system. Why would I ever try to take that chance? This is BAD! Really BAD!
If it stays like this, I have no plans to interact with this system.
I mean really, why would I want to engage for a bad outcome?

Feedback of any kind goes to #feedback . The channel gets logged and reviewed regularly, while this channel doesn't.
To be honest it is little too early for feedback on this feature. We don't know enough. What are the chance to destroy item? is it 50% like in the teaser or something very different ? what are the new affixes ? what are the chance to get a high Tier of affixes ? Is there a mean to reduce the chance to destroy the item?
There are scenarios where there is a possibility to upgrade items this way. You have your 2LP nihilis on you and you try the 1LP one to get a juiced new affixes eventually better than what you have on you... You still have your main amulet if that fails.
Anyway, It is not like we need anything, as there is no endgame challenge inaccessible nor difficult right now everything is doable with 1LPitem with a decent build, except uberoth that is so unbalanced that he is only doable if you take the insanely unbalanced too overpowered build with multiple more damage modifier layers and if you don't use them, you could have all free affixes on your stuff it would still be very inaccessible because you can't make for the multiple 100% more damage you are missing so.... Whatever... Lets hope the HUGE balance work is done at season 4 with bear damage reduce by 95% , cinderstrike improve by 600% etc etc... Then maybe these craft layers will have a meaning.
Feel free to criticize me and the way we presented a sneak peek into some of the categories of corruption.
Please take some time to consider the possibilities of what else could change, what other items it could be used on. Please reserve judgement on the system itself until you know how it works.

Also, the idea that it could be a 50% chance for a bad outcome is so absurd to me that I didn't even consider that it could be assumed that was what we were saying. We didn't give enough information and the worst case scenario was assumed. In hindsight, we probably should have just not shared anything until the devblog explains it all but I thought people would want to see it so I asked for it.
Not your fault, it's EHG's culture. It's a double-sided blade. But I will want to know all details if you EHG want to share an exciting content.
It is human nature to assume the worst case scenario in the vacuum of incomplete information.
I think it is better to not share too much, a lot of the fun imo is going to be the discovery process that happens within the community when people start posting some of their awesome outcomes and god-teir rolls. Then everyone will know what is possible and what to chase.

Sorry if my reddit comment came off that way, I was just trying to gauge the odds. Since its so similar to PoE's corruption mechanic, it was a quick jump to compare it to their double corrupt odds (4 possibilities showed, just like it).

We love seeing previews and teasers every week, but if all we see is negative outcomes on an item I donโt know what EHG wants us to think about the system.
If it is not this bad, then please show us good outcomes of a system, and the bad outcomes.
so in this instance...the 3rd and 4th outcomes are 'good'. now 'good' or 'positive' can be pretty subjective based on the item and such.
the 3rd outcome you get an extra 14% necro res (or any res presumably). that is a net positive. that is 'good'. now is it 'good enough' to warrant gambling a 2lp nihilus...prolly not. is that worth gambling a leveling bridge item...maybe?
the 4th outcome you get 22% crit multi and lose 39% inc crit chance. overcapping crit is pretty easy for some builds, and some skills auto crit...so that multi can be nice with little/no downside on some builds. overall probly a net positive. now again, is it 'good enough' to warrant gambling a 2lp nihilus...prolly not. is it worth on other less premier gear, maybe?
we dont know tiers either...that res is t2 on normal crafting...so possibly could go up to t7 like normal crafts as well
Yes I see 14 resistance as a not good outcome. It is barely useful at all.
And yes losing crit chance I also see as a negative and bad outcome.
but it IS useful, however small. and therefor a 'good'. thats why perspective matters on this subject.
by the time you are wearing a 2lp double t7 nihilus...yeah you likely dont need that 14% res (unless barbute or something but still you've already done the content your build is fine). i think part of the issue is they showed it on such a high tier item that almost no one is going to gamble on so that first instinct is 'no way'. but if we can do that same gamble on more common items, then that cost goes down
and tbf i didnt like anything they showed either for the corrupting. but i can see from the dev POV how those outcomes could be seen as 'good'
and with how little we know, i still have hope they have some much juicier outcomes

So what I was trying to show in the teaser is some of the categories. In my mind I showed:
- Bricked
- Bricked but usable still
- A mod that already exists.
- A new mod
What I hoped people would get excited about is the possibilities this implies.
I'm not saying these can happen but I was expecting these questions to be theorized about:
- Which other existing mods can it get and can they go outside normal slot restrictions?
- What new mods could exist and how many of them are there?
- What other items types can be corrupted.
- Can other things about the item change in any way and are the options type specific?

Some people just will never be happy with corrupting items because of risk aversion. I think the reveal of some exclusive affixes and hinting at other special outcomes is pretty neat. I hope the ruined items get an overlay (like the fractured items of old) or become untradeable or something as MG QoL.

Maybe I am too jaded of a person and look at the bad aspects of things.
I don't like to day dream about what "could be", or what I want to be. Because those things are not real and most likely not going to happen.
Example: I remember getting excited about the season of Necromancer getting updated, Oh just think of what they could change, update, balance improvements! OMG its going to be awesome!
Back to reality, it was the season of Beastmaster dominating and being 500% better then Necromancer.
What did I get in the end? Disappointment.
Again better not to assume what is coming and set myself up for disappointment.
When I see 3 teasers with bad outcomes, and I don't see any good positive outcomes.
I just don't know what I am trying to conjure in my minds eye to think will be a good outcome.
Again this is not me attacking you. Even though I am criticizing more then normal today.

Last Epoch is my favorite ARPG and want it to be the best.
Just please for a marketing standpoint in the future, show us bad outcomes, but also show us something that would make us think about what "could be" posable.
Because +14 resistance or a curse/kiss stat does not generate excitement. Sorry.
my fingers are crossed that unique affixes with percentages can be boosted. ex: harbingers of stars chance to cast meteor on crit 9% can be increased. i imagine that prob would be hard to code though. 53 more days!

- Chapter 7
The story
-Rahyeh is waging war on the Keepers and the other gods, starting with Heorot.
-I know Rahyeh plan to kill Heorot so I want to catch up but I'm unable to reach in time.
-Yulia meet me after I'm forced to watch Heorot's death, she's forced to trust me because Heorot does
-Heorot's lance is the only weapon known to kill or otherwise incapacitate a god, and it only did so with one-time blessings that need to be gathered again
-Rahyeh can only be stopped with the lance but it needs the other godsโ blessings along with Heorotโs.
-Heorot gave his son the lance, his son in a tree in Farwood, north of Heoborea, where can be accessed from Heorot's temple only.
-I need to find Heorot's horn in a nearby nomad camp to enter Heorot's temple.
-Wengari raided the camp before I reached here and took the horn away to their fortress unfortunately.
-I reach the fortress, get the horn, enter the temple, access the lance, blessed by Heorot before he died.
The 4th dungeon (No idea what should I call for the arena)
-Wengari are mostly nomadic, tribal and their relationship with people varies from tribe to tribe and even with individuals.
-Most of the Wengari are not followers of Heorot anymore though and as such my enemy.
-But I find a friendly tribe in champion's gate, this tribe built an arena for duals between humans and wengari. I'm welcomed to do some training and compete in arena.
- Chapter 8
-I get to a Heoborean harbor, clear the pier from Rahyehโs forces and catch a ride to Lake Liath.
-Once at Lake Liath you separate from Yulia and Grael with the plan to meet up in Thetima. (I don't understand this storyline at all. It's about how am I meet Yulia and what had I experienced with Yulia.)
-I try and find Lagonโs right-hand gal, the Architect Liath and started the plan from reaching her tower.
-Liath shuts down any attempts to speak with Lagon immediately, tells me to just wait in the first meeting.
-Lagon is apparently prone to tantrums, sulks in his underwater temple a lot and rarely ever deals with his subjects. Liath dealing everything for Lagon after Lagon saved Liath's life while she was young. She was trying to protect everyone but ended up protecting no one.
-I reach Thetima and meet up with Yulia and Grael and found a captain who willing to take me to island of Lagon later, his name is...Harton.
-Once I get to the Island of Lagon and despite the warning of Liath, I'm attacked by Meruna, the citizen of Lagon. The case is worse when I'm in Lagon's temple because Lagon attack me with his tentacles and Meruna.
-I met Liath again after many combats, Liath knows how to talk to Lagon to minimize his outbursts and cannot risk an outsider to trigger a tantrum by upsetting him but I can't persuade her, I have to kill her at last.
-I reach Lagon but my chat donโt start until Lagon deems my worthy to speak. Once my skills entertain him enough, I plead my case. Lagon amused by Heorot gave his lance to me so he gave me his blessing too.
-Harton listened my words about abandoning his worship of Lagon after he encountered attack from Meruna, he's my ally now.
Additional: I'm not sure what the story of Grael, Morditas and Yrun is, actually and what the relationship with the main story is. I feel Liath is an interesting person to learn more. I admired her personality.

unless you get block effectiveness from somewhere else, yes. Base block effectiveness is 0
Do Holly is the leader of the whole game designer team so she's your leader, Mike?
It's a little more complicated than that but when something needs deciding on from a mechanical design standpoint, Holly is the final word.

- Chapter 9
-Scalebane are a group of gloried bandits that started out as a rebellion towards the Nagasaโs rule in Majโelka, forcing people to pay "protection tax".
-On my way to Majโelka you free a Scalebane prisoner named Zerrick (lol the same name again?!). He offers his assistance in exchange for his rescue, I bond with them and journey together immediately.
-Yulia and Harton are busy with different things when I'm on the journey.
-Majโelka is a city made up of both slums and roads paved with gold, side by side. (??? What is it mean? Lower-class and upper-class have a edge clearly?)
-Nagasa surrendered the slums and lower districts to Scalebane and closed themselves off in their temple. (??? What Nagasa experienced?)
-I'm forced to find alternative ways to access Majasa's temple because the temple is closed publicly for the first time.
-Zerrick is the best choice to ask for help, I head to slums after heard his plan that kill the head of scalebane and he can become the new one.
-I found the Scalebane leader been replaced by an Emerald Nagasa after I reached (??? I don't understand what the sense of this new head for the story is)
-Nagasa want the ritual of Apophis' sacrifice to occur for their goddess, but they figured out Apophis is delving into forbidden magic to delay it
-Apophis hired an assassin to rescue her on the ritual but this plan knew by Nagasa (??? There hides a different option for rogue and non-rogue players? I don't know that)
-Stealing a giant Eagle from the Osprix nearby and flying onto the temple is the plan after Zerrick become the new head of scalebane.
-Before I make my way to Osprix camp, I must select one faction.
-Zerrick used to try to fly Talon (the Osprix we stole) when he was selling weapons to the Osprix but Talon be shot down soon and crashed on the temple. (??? Who shot Talon and why they know Talon is flying to the temple?)
-The temple is crawling with all types of Nagasa who are trying their best to stop you from reaching Majasa.
-I witness Apophis and Majasa cut loose and talk down to each other after reached Majasa's chamber. Apophis is breaking the cycle of Vessel Maidens who sacrificed their lives for Majasa to live. She uses the void to corrupt Majasa with the torment of the Vessel Maidens sheโd consumed. (??? So Apophis is a good person because the one who sacrificed countless lives to get immortal is Majasa? She want to end the traditional ritual so she calls out to Orobyss but she doesn't know Orobyss will bring void and void will corrrupt everything?)
-I'm forced to defeat Majasa and use her blood to get her blessing, but a bigger problem wait me to solve is stop the void brought by Apophis.
-When I pursue Apophis further, she uses the power of the void to drain the Epoch and transport herself to the Ancient Era, with me.
Just wondering - will there be a system that lets us break down bricked items? if so, we wouldnt have to graveyard / throw them away. It would be nice to at least salvage them for some resources

Do corruption works differently, have higher potential or different outcomes with different types of items like exalteds or sets or is the same thing?
Can we expect some changes to exalted crafting alongside with corruption to maybe even the floor and compete directly with legendaries?
Based on what I saw, corruption will only increase the gap between legendaries and exalteds and I say that because pulling/crafting a GG exalted is even harder than getting a 2LP legendary with 7/7 affixes, so the risk vs reward should be adapted for different rarities of gear.
I think what I want to know the most is if exalted crafting is getting the attention/support it deserves so I'm not making all legendary builds for what 3 years now?
Although, "fixing" the legendary meta/the exalteds limitations doesn't need to be through corruption mechanic

Ruined items are the equivalent of destroyed. I'm pretty sure they are useless. I'm not sure if downgraded can be used in the current recycling methods but I hope so. I'll have to look into that.

Anyways, I can't quite answer every bit of that but in general yes. There are different things that corruption can do to different item type. We've shown a small sliver of the possibilities.

Chapter 10
-Apophis always ahead me and left a void trail, I navigate the crystal cave... (??????? Can you tell me why a crystal cave is here?)
-I feel a presence watching you, observing your actions. This observer seems to be more intrigued by you than you are by it.
-I meet the mysterious observer by a projection, he's brother of Eterra, imprisoned by Eterra but he's unbothered by the fact, even complacent. He is curious about the world his sister created and fears he may undo her work unintentionally. He is more intrigued by the mystery that surrounds you than the answers to the fact.
-I face and defeat Apophis at the mountain, when she's misguidedly accuses you because future Orobyss gave her a lie about she can change her fate by that.
-Draal is known as a hive of giant insects. Upon an intense combat with a whole draal species for no good reason other than self-preservation after invading their home unintentionally, I go out of the mountain and on a coast.
-Titan, a farsight turtle, bears observer's blessing to take you across the water to a village.
-The small village I arrive calls the Garden. Its inhabitants are Wengari, Nagasa and Osprix who all apparently once lived in peaceful coexistence.
-I learn that Eterra think not just the Dragons but also Titans and other beasts that might harm her precious humans so she ordered the gods did not slay the Dragons, even after her disappearance. (??? I don't understand why dragons appear here suddenly)
-I go on my quest of reaching temple in the sky after I helped a couple to reunite but I met an issue.
-The issue is a nest of dragon eggs blocked the elevator tied to the chains that hold the temple in the sky.
-I solved this issue by destroying these eggs, have the parents of these eggs come after me but I pass this challenge later.
-Eterra's voice is echoing in a hall of status is only the steward of humanity and their legacy after I walk into the empty temple.
-Eterra revealed a secret in deeper hall, she never create people, all of existing humans/creatures are Elysians, they had a part in creating and will inevitably be the bigger threat you have to stop. (??? It mean a new era we may to travel?)
-Apophis revealed all of what she knows after confused about why the observer isn't orobyss. She have to free Orobyss to stop me. (??? Why she want to stop me?)
-The Observer is overwhelmed seeing fateโs design for the first time, of the future that inevitably leads to ruin. But he can change nothing after he tried multiple ways with multiple times. It drive him into mad and Eterra have to imprison her brother by a lotus cocoon.
-Eterra know fate had led the two of us here, her brother will definitely be free one day as the God of Fate, free to orchestrate everything. She's blame herself for not keeping him from surrendering to despair but does not blame either of us. (??? Us = Apophis and me?)
-Eterra broke the current Epoch off screen in front of your eyes into three parts and plans to scatter the pieces possibly entrusting them to a group of knowledge ones, keepers. (??? The story suppose to explain what keeper mean by showing the process here?)
-Eterra must channel all her power into the prison to keep Orobyss contained so the world can be peaceful for as long as possible but it mean her temple will fall down from the sky soon. She remarked the fate can't be stopped, can be delayed only.

Much like the other gods Majasa also plays favorite with her subjects, preferring to do her dealings with only certain matrons of the Diamond Nagasa (upper-class caste). Among them a Vessel Maiden is picked, a figure head that relays information to the public much like Liath for Lagon only with less autonomy or power. Not only that but the Vessel Maiden is a sacrificial role that one day will be killed off to empower Majasa, lengthening her life and power (Something Apophis hoped to prevent). Apophis addresses the crowd and talks about her freedom drawing near suggesting she has plans to escape her glorified slave position.

After you make your decision, you make way to the Osprix camp. To get there you go through the Oasis and run into a woman named Mahraan Zabat (probably the mother or ancestor of Rouj Zabat, the imperial historian weโd met), she is a Scalebane that is glad Zerrick is in charge now and wants your help with clearing the Crystal mines so they can restart their mining operations there (A different mining operation to where they eventually found the Titan).

He saw it as cruelty that it was even given life to begin with, no matter how beautiful that life could have been and he sees it as kindness to spare it past and future pain through the means of ending its existence via the void. (A sentiment that could have made Orobyss a neutral villain if not for the future weaponization of the void) He implies he is allowed to do this by Eterra only if it is an act of mercy.

Before you take him up on his offer you take a minor detour to talk to a Meruna on the cove and give him some honey you found. They are apparently tasked with keeping child Lagon happy so he in turn can keep humanity happy, a task given to them by Eterra. Lagon is not permitted on land it seems and depends on the Meruna to bring him exciting stuff from the surface to keep him happy. The mischievous Meruna are determined to find better and better things to make Lagon hooked on their help even more. This one even tries and fails to compel you into taking control of your mind, a trait that will eventually be perfected by Siren Meruna.

The teleporters you use, speculated to be made during the Ancient Era, are already present at this time, scattered throughout the world. With not even a hint towards their existence it is clear that whoever the Elysians were, were probably the true architects of these devices.

Grael is in Farwood because he had the idea to use the lance before you but Heorot being a peaceful god had forbidden it. Grael was waiting at the ready in case Heorot changed his mind and is devastated when he hears why he has. With Graelโs help, you reach the tomb of Morditas that is being protected by Yrun who is imprisoned inside a treant-like cage. Yrun was the former champion of Heorot (Grael being the current champion) and when Morditas rebelled he became his champion instead. Itโs a bit ambiguous but I think after Morditas was frozen Yrun was both forgiven and punished by Heorot by becoming his sonโs warden inside a prison of his own. Now Yrun is trying to stop you from freeing Morditas. You defeat Yrun, who is glad to die free and retrieve the lance which will eventually set Morditas free.

You deal with Yulia, kill off Harton and Zerrick, again, but before the emperor can finish you off, he is frozen in place by Yulia, the betrayer. Yulia tells you nowโs your chance to use the Lance of Heorot to finish off the emperor. You obviously donโt have it nor know what she is talking about. So, what is she talking about? Well, in a few moments you will travel back in time to your time, to the Divine Era, where you will meet Yulia from your time and indeed make plans to get and prepare the Lance of Heorot as a god killing weapon. Yulia is not a time traveler like you, so your paths crossed in the wrong order. From her point of view, you made the plan, got the Lance, prepared it and are now in possession of it to kill whatever threat you face, that threat being the emperor right now. You take the opportunity to escape and leave undead Yulia behind to be killed off camera for her betrayal.
Just put a full set in your inventory and go in without anything equipped.

Are Rampant Coast rift beast damage purposefully broken? I can facetank literally anything, including Aberroth (except maybe slam), but a C300 beast just oneshots me with every skill it has.
Also, different topic. What can we expect of keeping existing builds in the game? I found builds fluctuating between seasons. Like the Serpent Venom Druid. I wanted to paly it this season, actually, because it seemed so fun and unique and a viable druid finally, just to see it being deleted from existance. Why though? That mastery has nothing to play, really... This one thing demotivated me from playing for months, because I started a Druid not knowing the build just got removed. What can we expect going forward regarding this? I think you should just buff random things at this point for classes that have 0-1 playable builds in end game, not take them away. (looking at Spellblade aswell) We had super broken stuff in every season anyways, nobody really cares, that is clear by now if some things turn out to be stronger than most.
Serpent venom was bugged
How so? But then again, Druid is dead without it. Tornado Bear is too clunky. Awful build with that downtime.
Don't remember exactly, I can try digging it up. But I think if an entire mastery hinges on a single node on one skill there's a bigger issue at hand, so fixing that build (it would obliterate ubby in one tick) shouldn't be viewed as them killing the one thing that made the mastery viable, the mastery was still unviable, the node was what was viable.
There were "ethical" versions of that build, as far as I've seen. But anyways, my point still stands with other builds
So I can't find the patchnotes of the bug fix but I think what you're talking about was actually the balance change they did to it (iirc the bug fix happened before this, but I'm not entirely sure). But pretty much the same applies, it being uncapped as well as doubled vs high health enemies let people oneshot ubby in one tick, so it went from way, way, way too strong to maybe a bit weak. Nontheless a single balance change to one node shouldn't "kill" an entire mastery, the issue would lie in the mastery itself.
There can be a skill that does 10000x the damage of any other skill and you can handicap yourself into making it ethical, doesn't mean it should stay in

From some very brief investigating with almost nothing to back this up, it appears to be a placebo effect mixed with some correlation of restarting a game.

That's more of a "Unity material" issue than a "real world material inspiration" issue.
As a side note, usually a quick question also implies a quick answer, but you are essentially asking for a database - I think that is a bit out of scale to get an answer in here (or anywhere, just due to the scope of work required to answer).
Due to I can't use unity, no idea I have for how materials work in unity. So I ask what are their inspirations only.
It'll vary from piece to piece. Generally just an analogues earth era appropriate material. So like the rogue's base outfit belt will be leather and the mage's base robes will be something similar to linen or cotton probably.
The concept art team will do material references for many pieces so that modeling and texturing can have a specific point to go off of. I don't have a place to quickly look all that up but we have shared a few on devstreams in the past which show material references in the image.

The list of materials should be easy to get if they manage inspirations of materials well because many commons must in them.

Obv the imprints are big but like the lizard branch compared to the weaver will item branch or how many people took the shade ambush node?

I expected the imprints to be taken much more, but the percentage shows them between 55% - 72% (if my eyes are interpreting them correctly)
yeah, you can kinda make out the %'s listed too. crazy the imprints arent 100%. lol
would be interesting to see the numbers for like 90+ & 300 corr+ as well, as those players will have access to a much larger number of points on average

E.g. RR is second-most used unique after Throne of Ambitions in all builds lastepochtools tracks.

we have to break it down for mastery and put a little bit of level and corruption minimums to not overload the requests but for example, Druids at 80+L and 200+C, Red Ring isn't even the most popular ring, let alone item. The most popular is Thornshell.

The imprint system forces the main path. You have to take every imprint. It would probably be much more diverse if imprint would be unlock with faction level instead of inside the tree.
Can you get stats like which exalted t8 item bases are the most common in each slot for each mastery?
kinda sorta, not really. It's more like pick some features to filter on and then you can see a gear popularity distribution for each slot. Here is an example:

Marksman

Lvl 80+
Corruption 400+
SC
Uses Multishot
Top 10 Gloves

well, the sweet thing about this is I can click on the gloves and then see what else those people are using.
Hearseeker, Smoke Bomb, Shift, Puncture generally used. Snowblind, Nihilis, Elecoe's Innovation, Mourningfrost, Troaka's Teeth, Red Ring and Reign of Winter are pretty common pieces that go with it.
