The spellblade passive Volka's Razor says melee attacks that cost at least 10 mana and the spells they trigger from their trees deal more damage. How exactly does this work when multiple things can trigger fire aura? If my 11 mana flame weave triggers a fire aura cast what happens when fire aura gets triggered from some other source that didn't cost at least 10 mana? Does the increased damage from Volka's Razor get overwritten?
fire aura stacks. so each stack would have its own damage, based on what triggered it.
And just to be clear, Fire Aura is always cast from the player no matter where it's procced, so that node never applies to it.
Edit to add: No, there's nothing in game that explains it (yet, at least - would be a great addition to tooltips if its implementation can't just be changed to work like a normal subskill)

They should be worded to indicate you are casting it instead of being a sub skill but they might not all be up to date.

I have seen multiple reports of a bug in #1210281997591908452 that's impacting me as well, but no acknowledgement of this as an issue by EHG. The specific bug I'm referring to is on my secondary PC, all of the display options just say "Option A", "Option B", "Option C" and I'm not able to change the resolution, quality or anything. Can we please at least get ackowledgement of this issue, and if possible any feedback on a relative severity level from EHG's perspective to know how long we are stuck at our current settings? Thank you!
We don't have time to acknowledge every bug. Having said that, I'm quite sure I've talked about that one in here before. In the past it has shown up when the settings file is corrupted and the settings panel doesn't fail to load settings gracefully enough. Usually solved by just deleting the settings file. Otherwise just submitting a bug report or adding information onto a pre-existing one is all that you can do.

It happens to me that I have extreme lags on some maps. It's not on all maps and not always on the same places etc.
Do you know what it could be? It's really annoying and impossible to play when the lags start. How to avoid it? It's really very random, which is why I think and believe it can't be me just because it doesn't happen on all maps.
I've already tried lowering the graphics to the minimum.

Is visibility of ground target AoEs something that can be reviewed? As a swarmblade, tornado + maelstrom makes a lot of enemy aoe attacks invisible. Having the aoe circle/line be darker/more opaque would be a big help.

We tend to be very reactive and in the past we've been burned by trying to make a roadmap because we don't want to change it on the fly too much once we've said it but we changed our minds on features and priorities shift. Maybe.

Maybe someone already asked this but is there a posibility to implement the option to hide/instantly de-spawn dead mobs, they quickly clutter the screen and cause terrible FPS drops even on strong machines, they stay on the screen for way too long as well, especially bad in Arena´s where i cant just walk away from it either
Well, from our data there are no items which are useless or never used. We do look for opportunities to glow up currently unpopular uniques though.
We are looking at 1.1 for some initial changes and will continue to update it over time.

The Glyph of Intention node on the Flame Rush passive tree says that flame rush ends when you reach the glyph. However, you stay in flame rush for a bit after reaching the glyph. Is this a bug or intended? Reason I ask is because there's some alt text on that node that mentions a 1.5 second time.
No, it's already pushed past what it should be. We are hoping to add ways to combine common rule functions together to reduce the number of rules needed and actually drop the total available count if possible.

I think that with the way the movement curve happens, you don't quite make it to the actual center of the glyph until the end of the duration.
Is there any discussion/stance-changing on permitting LP Filtering via Loot filters? Asking since the recent @ember topaz video pretty much has me never wanting to touch COF lol. I do not wish this to be D4 2.0 in terms of rummaging through loot, but COF can get like that when you stack up unique prophs.
Changes aren't set yet so I don't know but I think that we will likely extend the last couple levels.
Less of a question and more of feedback - I'd like to pitch that, alongside other changes to make Blessings more of a catalogue, that the system adds in bad-luck-protection to make it more feasible to get the maximum roll of a specific blessing if you're targetting that blessing. Like... making an offer of your equipped blessing always roll at least as good as your equip and not any lower, or something.
It's been on the list for a while. One of the dev's mom is very arachnophobic so we have been showing her the borderline monsters to see if they trigger it too. Fun fact scorpions apparently sometimes don't have the same effect. I thought they would.

They have said this but that current rank reward does kinda stink if it is still there next cycle without a change to make sets viable. Currently any end game content that has set reqards feels bad but I get not wanting to remove it to add it back in. I can't wait to see what they end up doing with sets

no, I'm not who you want to talk to about that. If you have a suggestion, please put it in #1210282176680169562 . It's important to note that we don't have a lot of options on this front so if you'd like to suggest a change, it will not be done until we finish this engine upgrade. And that's a big reason we are doing the upgrade anyways.

Further on this and based on your previous replies there are 2 sides arguing if 4 digit corruption was ever supposed to be reached. We have people saying your previous replies imply characters are too strong, while other point out your previous replies imply that we are expected to grind as far as we can and the time it takes to get there is the problem.

doesn't address the time it takes to push. the game we have now you can do 2k, 3k+ it just takes so long to get there people quit on the way. many of my friends didn't even get over 1k before quitting because the time sink involved even tho they had the gear for it. all they really said was they expected good builds to be X but we have Y. there's no factor increase on the cor pushing to bridge that. not to mention in coop only 1 person gets cor.

What is EHGs thoughts on defacto mandatory affixes for gear (hybrid health, movement speed on boots etc.). to push higher corruption and dungeon tiers. Does it play into the oppurtunity cost of having one vs the other, along with scaling difficulty?
May not be an exact comparison - but back When I played Smite - they ended up removing boots since it was a mandatory item in every build. Removing boots allowed the slot to be used for something else

We don't want an end game where you are having to spend large times facing content that's too easy for you.
Some of my skills are very visually noisy, and I have gotten complaints from people that I have partied with that my build makes them lag because of it. Will some of the acquire-able visual effects for skills be ones that really tone down or simplify them to make it a lot less of a headache? I actually legitimately ask people when we first party if they have epilepsy because it's that bad.

I think that some of them might incidentally have this effect but I don't think that's a good way for us to solve the issue really. It would also lock it behind a paywall which is even worse. It's a significant issue at the moment though.
I can't really go into details on it. Mostly because I don't know the details really but from what I've read from people who were abusing it, we didn't account for people mucking about with their game clients well enough.
I've seen other arpg's allow you to turn off ally visuals which my friend regularly gripes about when partying with me and my screen filling elemental novas. I can almost guarantee there is a request for such features in the suggestion forums.

no idea, also kinda arbitrary because you can write the same thing so many different ways, depending on your code conventions, two identical scripts can be wildly different lengths. Just something as simple as if you put the { on the same line as the if (condition) or not can add hundreds of lines to a single script. You can then condense it even more with condition ? true : false; style statements.

Do i understand right that factions aimed to be balnced around avarage player and not top 0.1%?
No, we don't expect characters to hit 100. It's a significant achievement.

We look at all levels of the systems to make adjustments. We don't have to balance it around 1 time investment slice.

Because of our game's relative youth, the content that we add in a cycle is specifically designed to always be core content. Once we have a few cycles under our belt, I think we might start looking at some more experimental systems. It's something that we will very much be adjusting on the fly depending on how the first couple cycles go.

I think I remember seeing something about themes coming in around cycle 4 or 5. I know a lot of people are into the leaderboards etc, but for me I enjoy new things and change and worry LE would feel stale after a couple of cycles only focused on balance. Is there any consideration of moving the schedule up (or am I totally wrong on this point, wouldn't be the first time 🤣)
You can do everything around level 80, certainly by 90. the last 10 levels are largely optional.
This is a fundamental design difference between Last Epoch/PoE/D2 and D3/4. The game starts for us way before max level. You can easily have a well made lvl 80 character be way stronger than a poorly made lvl 100 character.
We are actually probably going to be extending the last few levels.
There are major features coming next patch. As I just got out of a playtest meeting for some of the new content, it will not be stale. We just don't plan on having those first few cycle being "borrowed power" because they are designed as being permanent from the moment they are added.
Also, anything that's floating around about specific cycles after cycle 2 is pure speculation.
All good man, no idea where I got that into my head. Not meant as criticism as my worry is entirely self inflicted, having a short attention span and getting each mastery to 50 as a min already. Looking forward to seeing what comes in. Loving the game and the flexibility it allows in character builds. Don't think I've looked at anyone else's yet. For me the game starts at 20, as I start trying abilities and working out some fun synergies. Think I'll be entertained for a while yet at least 😜

Yea, that's primarily what I work on. Unless it's about Shadow Daggers/Spark Charges, I hate those 2. But we are in slow mode so see you in 10.
It's a really tricky line to walk. We started making the game single player knowing that we were for sure going to add multiplayer. So it was always designed from the ground up as a multiplayer game that just didn't have multiplayer yet. This does mean that many of the supporting systems for multiplayer are a little underdeveloped in comparison to some of the core gameplay systems. We do plan to add more multiplayer systems to make playing with friends more fun. We do intend for all the content in the game to be possible to complete solo.

If you're mostly playing together, then the items you're finding are giftable between you. The stand out items that you find appart can be gifted using the resonances that you'll have found while playing together.

With the current situation prophecy makes zero sense, bazar has simply become a dream place... and you don't want to take action against it until 1.1? very nice, after the news many will take advantage of this until 1.1. prophecy has simply lost all its value

Will the new "mirrored/duplicated" item have a set number shown? like a "1/6" "2/6" "3/6" "4/6" "5/6" 6/6" etc in the corner? or will all the duplicates look alike and not give any extra data than a slightly different tooltip art? I like the idea that was proposed in the announcement but I fear unless each individual item has a different tooltip than every other individual copy, it doesn't achieve the goal. The announcement was a little unclear, do you mind clarifying or expanding on it?
You understood me correctly. Currently, even crafting is a dream in the bazaar, as people can buy the t7 bonuses they want for a paltry 10k and then customize their alternatives. I get that not much can be said about it currently, however it has become a significant disadvantage for prophecy players. To get just one item perfect for my lp4 items takes me an extremely long time... while now anyone can buy it for 10k and craft so often they want. Apart from that, many unique items on lp3 are also only worth 100Mio (remember 100Mio used to be a lot, now it's not, as the market is extremely flooded. I generally wonder where they got all the big money to buy several 1.5 billion coins worth of items)

Right, so extremely valuable items are now extremely cheap. e.g.: red ring only 100mio? That's the rarest ring item you could possibly get with a lot of luck. Now everyone can afford it thanks to the amount of gold. So it's a huge disadvantage for the prohecy players.
I also have another significant improvement suggestion for the dungeons. You could apply the same monolith system to dungeons, because at the moment for high end players t4 dungeons have simply become pure boredom, because you don't pay attention to the bosses or the mobs in the dungeon, because you simply overrun them and are annoyed by the long stretches you have to do twice before the boss map comes. But with the monlith system in the dungeon it would be a certain difficulty even for everyone to master the dungeon, of course as a reward with increased drop rate of the LP number.
You arent buying BiS t7 affix exalteds that just have that t7 affix for 10k. This is an extremely disingenuous comment and feedback towards mike.

If so I was curious as to how much industry experience you actually require for roles such as the QA tester. Is it potentially possible that someone with real world experience in entirely different fields could throw their hat in the ring and come out with a role?

If I may, it probably doesn't come up often because the majority of people don't understand what it is and don't know how to communicate why exactly the game feels less responsive than others. It would make the game so much better if it could be implemented, and even people who don't understand what it is would notice the game "feel" is better afterwards.

We had already delayed twice. As we got bigger, there is more community pressure to actually release. It becomes a balancing act of speed and quality. We did also then do a 4th delay to hit a better launch window and also finish the last two classes. I think the playtime stats that we are seeing compared to the industry and genre indicate that we have plenty of content for the price. We just have extremely ambitious goals for all the stuff we want to put in. If we didn't release until all our ideas were done it would be another 5 years. At some point you've gotta see if the baby bird will fly.

If you take the flame wraith node, all of them should be fire. You do have to resummon them to have the tree take effect. We are working on better ways to fix the snapshot that happens. The falcon is pioneering these changes quite well.

We try to be consistent with mechanics. When you pick up an item, it goes to your inventory. Then if it's an axe you might take it to your stash. The shards were just taking up too much stash space and it was too fiddly to have to organize them so we added the auto organized special stash for them. We also didn't like how often you were coming back to town to empty them so we made it so you could transfer them out in the field.

As someone who enjoys playing an archetype to the hilt, I love using all or most of the skills in a mastery tree for my first time playing that mastery...thoughts on how good or bad of an idea that typically is? I've noticed some builds seem to synergize better than others that way.

Not specifically but I always tell people to just send an email with what you think you'd be a good fit for and you never know. It's a long shot if we don't have a position open but it's happened before.

Yes, it does. That's the only thing from Spirit Plague that affects those bleeds (otherwise they are straight from your character's stats, no attribute scaling).

This is a Steam thing. You have to set it on your launch options to either be "Play Full Offline" or "Ask when starting game" to start the offline client.

Multiplayer stability and speed continue to be our top priority. The multiplayer experience varies wildly based on many factors. I got on a great run with a buddy a few nights ago and we did the whole campaign with no issues at all. Other people can't transition to the first town still. We are working on it.

This would obviously be low on the priority list but I think another way to create chase content would be to add armor/weapon effects ( like unusual items in tf2 ) onto ingame items as a very rare drop.
Imagine dropping a great rolled item for your character with a few lp and it also has a purple fire effect on it. It could also work with a transmit system and unlock the purple fire effect for that weapon/armor type permanently.
We have a question about Lightning Aegis / Void Aegis. How does the damage mitigation on these work if a single hit exceeds the damage breakpoint (25% of health for lightning, and 100 flat for void)? Does it only mitigate that much damage, or will it apply to the entire size of the hit?
Would anyone know how often the ladder updates? My buddy and I did a good run, and it hasn't updated after a while.
It should be pretty quick. It might need to have the server close to commit the entry or something. I'm not sure. Give it an hour before wondering I'd say. I'm just making that number up. I don't know how long it actually takes.

Lightning Aegis grants the stat 25% less damage taken
The trigger to remove it happens after you take the hit. This means that the entire hit is mitigated by the full amount.
Void Aegis: Grants 10% reduced damage taken. Breaks after you take 100 damage, releasing a void rift dealing damage to nearby enemies.
Void Aegis grants the stat 10% less damage taken and is removed after you take a total of 100 damage.
The reduced damage taken in the wording for Void Aegis is a typo. All percent damage reductions are Less.

oh thats great, people were skeptical about it but i personally suspected it worked this way. i figured it would be fairly useless at even the minimum level you could take it if it worked the other way.
My big question is how exactly does Endless Arena scaling work. It feels like the wave # is like 2-3x as hard as the same value in corruption.
I'm sorry I don't know the function that handles it off the top of my head. It's not tied directly to corruption but both are tied to damage so you could make a conversion formula which would probably need to be a few approximations that start and stop at different points or else be a gigantic mess.
I'll be looking forward to any detailed information you might be able to muster up eventually. In the meantime, do you know roughly if there are breakpoints, or does it scale linearly? And are there any hidden mods that can apply? Feels like mob movement speed is much higher than in arena echos sometimes, wondered if thats placebo.
It doesn't have any hidden effects. We don't really do that anywhere. If information is missing, it's a mistake.
They don't just go linearly. They have scaling breakpoints which will start to increase difficulty faster. I'm a little surprised those functions aren't actually in the game guide come to think of it.

yup, that was added in 1.0 I think. Maybe 092 but I doubt it.
another suspicion confirmed. all i could find from research originally was that endless arena had the same scaling as corruption. i lost a few early characters and quickly realized that wasn't true 🤣. its weird that arena doesn't show the damage modifiers like monolith though, that would be helpful.
I have an image of it showing that info in the quest tracker HUD UI at some point. I'm thinking this is much the same as it is displayed for monoliths. It might have gotten removed from there by mistake when we overhauled that at 1.0. I could just be misremembering that completely.

I've collected drops from over 200 exiled mages in a rank 8 COF (where 25% of rare drops are converted to exalted).
Among them, exalted items account for around 35%, which seems to correspond to the 25% stated for rank 8.
However, the experimental affixes of T6/T7 are only around 2-3%, much lower than expected.
So, I assume the generation of experimental affixes occurs after the rerolling of item rarity? Therefore, it wouldn't be influenced by COF for T6/T7.
Is this assumption correct, and is it part of the design?
I dont know if this is the place to ask. But LE keeps forcing my PC to boot. It can happen after 30 mins, or after 8hours of playing. No other game does this. So i dont think its my PC that has an issue. ive read about the memory leak issue around the net but dont know to identify if thats what forcing my PC to boot. Is this a known issue or anyone heard about this happening to others? ty in advance <3

This may have already been suggested but I have a simple idea to make Set Items more viable in the game. Would it be possible to have them drop with the chance of LP to roll on them? Set bonuses need to be buffed a little to get them closer to uniques as well. Just a thought as it's a shame set items are pretty much considered trash in this game.

Opening task manager and watching Memory use can indicate if a memory leak is approaching critical levels, just make sure you only have Steam, Last Epoch and Task Manager open.
You can also increase your Page File size, though this is not a fix - it just extends the amount of time you can play before a reload is required to avoid a crash.

what I expected was, if it's recolored, it's already "shown", so "show" shouldn't "un-recolor". shouldn't there be a "recolor to default" option to do that?
For each item, at most one rule applies. If a rule like "show" applies to an item, no other rule below it applies, including "recolor". Conversely, if you have "show" above "recolor", then the "recolor" does nothing

ah i see. i always thought of it like a reverse order of operations, or like layers that are applied on top of each other. i'm guessing what actually happens is that for an item they just go down the filter list and then stop once a rule applies, and perform the given action ("show", recolor, or hide), and perform no other actions. i do think that to do it the way that i was thinking could give filters some more flexibility, but the way it works now is more efficient

that makes sense. but Hippitydippity the rogue isnt in any way related to LORDFARQUAD the paladin, so why should favor be lost account wide, you cant really have both, unless favor is calculated at a character level, but applied account wide.
edit: I do not name my characters like this, but Im sure you get the point, some people like to roleplay, and swap around on various toons, but overall it shouldnt impact your entire roster.

The exploit is not due to a bug, it's something that would be possible if you didn't lose favor account-wide. As the answers say, you're not supposed to change factions regularly
I dont know... why cant you have 3-4 characters in one faction, and 3-4 in another. if you want to swap one character, why should you have to spend / waste your 50-100+k favor For ALL characters in that faction, to swap one. I understand your point, but Im thinking about a wider scope of characters, especially with SSF and other modes being available. (specifically market guild, where you typically hoard a lot of favor to be able to buy and try different builds), if you farm one character and want to swap them to COF to try something new, why should that penalise 3-4 other characters.
just a friendly topic though man, what will be, will be. I think account wide favor is great for rolling new characters (at least for MG), but its also causing this problem stated above.

EHG doesn't like to say "ever" but there's no plans for it for the foreseeable future.

Favor is "stash wide" not "account wide", switching clears it for the current stash, not your whole account. Switching a SCF character doesn't affect any others.
The switch is intended as a 1 time event as a failsafe to prevent having to re-make the entire character. The event happens so rarely that this isn't an issue for the normal use case.

We do plan to continue the gradual increase in mob density that we have been doing. We do not plan to get to the density levels of PoE. Our combat is a little different and doesn't lend itself as well to quite that much.
Relevant search term: "mob density".
My favorites are the ones that have the biggest impact to change ratio. Like switching the order of 2 lines of code without actually changing them to fix a bug that affects every player in the game or something like that.

No, a 4xT7 item is so rare that it's not worth the time investment to make something special just for it. Maybe if someone ever finds one we can put something in for them to take a screenshot with lol.
Also, chances are pretty good that if someone ever does find one, it'll still be bad because the affixes won't line up and you can't change them.
We do have other item types or special versions of existing item types that we are considering.
Yeah, those kinds of bugs are really fun. I'm a fan of any that causes a dev to come back and narrate the story of how they figured out what was actually causing some weird problem that was being seen. Those are always fun to listen to.

Will there be colorblind game support?
One of friends is colorblind and he often asks me about items rarity. For example experimental rare, rare and exalted are all same color for him and its bugging him alot with it. As he tries craft legendary gears and just simply cant do that.

Its pretty obvious that the Runemaster mastery benchmark is Frost Claw/Nova Claw. Plenty of options on build/play style. As you get further into higher corruption and the item drops improve, you continue making it better. With most other Runemaster build options, they hit a wall very early when you start pushing corruption and probably couldnt beat a T4 Sanctum solo. Are you guys looking at enhancing the other options? I know most companies (Blizzard) will just opt to nerf a single build since that's waaay faster vs tuning up all the others. Just curious what your vision is for Runemaster.
From what I've seen so far Forge guard needs more love to be a valid class for any content at all really. My friend stopped playing the game cause he felt it was to weak for any sort of end game content.

Along with other accessibility options, colorblind mode is something we do plan to add to the game. I'm sorry, I don't have any eta on it and all I can say is that I know it won't be in the next couple patches.
It's not about the time to do things that dictates if a buff or a nerf (or some combination) is needed. We need to look at the gameplay patterns that emerge on both and decide what direction we think will be more fun for the game long term.
As with all classes, we want people to be able to explore themes and playstyles that are interesting and fun for them.
We have also banned accounts with duplicated items from the first exploit, and we have been and are continuing to process and ban all accounts linked to RMT services (both buying and selling). These regular account bans for RMT involvement are actively removing significant amounts of gold from the economy, which we expect will help bring down inflation. My question is im someone that doesn't know this existed but bought a item from a market that was duped would i get banned?
I think hyperbole in feedback is very detrimental to the conversation as a whole. Forge Guard is generally regarded as the weakest mastery at the moment. I don't have any details on the status of potential upcoming balance changes.

Hey Mike, Has there been any discussion on decision paralysis from the dev team? Basically, where by being measured and thoughtful about every decision, it hurts or hampers the development of the game?
Interacting with the system in good faith and taking normal actions that are expected is not ban worthy. I think we have a pretty good false positive detection rate so I wouldn't be concerned about legitimately accidentally breaking the rules and getting banned. If you do get incidentally banned, you can appeal it on our support site and we can take a closer look with you to make sure.
I feel like we do a really good job at not getting stuck in analysis paralysis. Usually if you see me say something like "we're still deciding what to do", it's because we just haven't got to that thing yet in our design meeting discussion list yet. It's very rare for a decision to be deferred by even 1 meeting. I'm curious what gives you the impression that we are significantly affected by this?
I see alot of people asking for nerfs or buffs between classes because they feel things are unbalanced, since there is no pvp how concerned are you with balancing classes off of each other over making sure each class feels fun to play. Does keeping classes balanced in power scale hold much weight?
I think you hit on it. There is a lot of answers in the area of "we want to look at the data" or "still making the decision" its helpful for the context you just provided.
Relative power levels hold a lot of weight for many of our players which means it holds a lot of weight for us regardless of how we feel about it. Personally it doesn't bother me at all if two classes are super imbalanced but I know how much it means to our players and how much it drives the narrative. So, we do make a very conscious effort to keep as many options in a roughly similar power band.
You won't get banned for that, nor will you be banned if someone used duped gold to buy an item from you. Hope that helps!

Even an imperfect number that doesn't try to disentangle multiple characters per account would be fine. Stats based only on characters that got above some threshold level would be great to see. That way, there's no need to worry about the sum of MG and CoF being greater than 100%
I know this has been asked to death but I haven't been able to find an answer directly from EHG, only speculation. Why is there no way to measure dps via something like a dummy or trainer? I was wondering if it was due to design philosophy, limitations, or simply not seen as necessary. I appreciate the existence of dps tooltips but they don't seem like a great solution since they're inherently more accurate for some builds over others while being prone to oversight/bugs.

Any plans to make obsidian resonances drop more frequently? Currently they drop at an absolutely abysmal rate, played with my friend quite a lot and all we have is 3 golden resonances and nothing else, it's god awful atm
Hey Mike. What is the motivation for nerfing the falconner in next patch? I thought the survey made it clear we only wanted bug fixing not changes to skill power during cycle when not related to a bug. I can't imagine the devs catering to a minority of very vocal players actively looking into spoiling the fun others are having with a different build than theirs... I'd like to see a post describing the reasoning. Does this exist somewhere?

The issue highlighted in the #news post between Falconer and the Gathering Fury Bow is an unintended bug caused by another bug fix unrelated to Falconer or the Gathering Fury Bow.
That bug would cause the Falconer to immediately lose all HP when using the Falconer Skill while the Gathering Fury Bow was equipped, we found this a little funny internally and thought we'd share it.

If you have both +10 spell damage and +10 cold spell damage, and 100% increased elemental damage over time, what parts of Disintegrate damage will be increased by the increased edot? Will it benefit all three of the base damage, added adaptive damage, and added cold damage? or only the base damage? (thank you!)
Has there been any discussions around visuals of uniques and set? It feels a bit sad when you equip a new unique helmet and it looks exactly like the level 20 magic helm on your character. I get that mtx is a good substitute for that but perhaps as a low prio in the backlog :p

So if an ability doesn't naturally have cold damage, if you have +cold damage on your gear, the ability benefits from it? I had an understanding that it only took effect if the base spell type already had that damage. The +[element] damage on Bows have been vexing me for the same reason.

a modifier has part of it that describes the effect, and part that describes the matching conditions. The cold type for flat damage is part of the effect, unlike for increased damage where it's one of the matching conditions

yes but half of that is that I'm not sure what "end of time dungeons missions" are. It's weird that you can't die anywhere other than the 1st zone of the campaign though so the location doesn't really matter.

- disintegrate is a dot
- the scenario you layed out would have your disintegrate dealing fire, cold and lightning damage
- all of the elemental damage that disintegrate does is elemental damage over time.
- your elemental damage over time is affected by increased elemental damage over time effects
the ability gets all stats and uses anything that is relevant. Because the base damage is only fire/lightning, the generic added spell damage would be 5 fire and 5 lightning instead of a 3.33/3.33/3.33 split. Adding 10 cold spell damage doesn't give the spell that base damage or tag but it does give the spell that damage.
A more intuitive way to think about this might be that if you had a basic melee attack that is all physical but you also had the effect on your sword of "+10 melee fire damage". Would you expect your attack to get the fire damage? (just for the record, it does get it)

Perfect, thank you. I always wondered about this but I found it difficult to test. I had a Quiver with +Void damage and thought it was useless because I couldn't find any Void skills on the Rogue.
It's a combination of many steps that are basically just people trying to break it. It's not possible to test every combination of interactions. There are enough possible combinations that the number would be written in scientific notation and we, as humans, wouldn't have any frame of reference to understand how big the number really is.

The new piece here for me is that the added cold damage inherits the damage over time tag because it's adding to a spell dot. It seems no matter how many times I go over it, I keep coming up with situations where I'm not sure how to extrapolate the rules I know, so I really appreciate being able to ask for clarification like that :)
The damage doesn't inherit the tag (only subskills "inherit" tags from their parent skill), the skill itself has an added damage effectiveness

Respectfully, I don't think that's correct at all regarding "many" players wanting balance. The core part that improves the experience is being able to continue improving the build and be able to access increasingly more rewarding content as a result. The equity of outcomes strawman is typically from casuals who just want to copy/paste a build guide as opposed to learning how different modifications tune their performance/etc.
I answer questions in here while some process is running that I just have to wait for. I often get little 30s-2min windows where I have to just wait. So I don't generally stop work to come here and answer questions. I also do a lot of it in my downtime. I do a lot of mixed things. Often just random odd jobs of things that another department needs getting done. I also do a lot of work on the design/development and buf fixing of skills and items.

Btw for some reason I just now had a thought about this response, how come you check every item in the scene, checking which ones are able to be vacuumed, instead of adding vaccuumable items to a list/other, better suited data structure whenever they drop and then only checking that list of items for items close enough to the one you're picking up? Since I feel like adding an item to a data structure every time it (vaccuumable item) drops is a good price to pay to save on checking tons of irrelevant items (even if it's a simple check) every time you pick one up

Hey I was power leveling with a friend and he unlocked empowered while i was in party, now when im alone, only some of my islands are empowered, is this a bug or am i missing something, every island empowered other than, the age of winter, spirits of fire and ending the storm
It's not a bug really but it is a little unintuitive. You have unlocked individual timelines through group play but you haven't unlocked empowered mode as a whole. You need to complete the last 3 timelines on normal to unlock empowered properly.
Something I loved in Diablo 2 was replaying the campaign on a new difficulty as my character became stronger. It's something that I think they really dropped the ball with on D4, not allowing players to revisit cool boss fights and moments in the story without starting again. Do you think you guys will ever put in 'empowered' campaign (Like Nightmare/Hell in D2). Or would that be too much work/undesirable?
We decided long ago that we didn't really want to do this. We like the idea of revisiting old enemies on new terms though which is why we do bring bosses from the campaign into the monolith. It's more interesting if we can do the same boss but with a twist too.
(if you go back to the kickstarter page, there is a proposed game mode that takes you back through the campaign at end game though)
Well, streamers talk about it. But they're in the business of putting out edgy "good idea fairy" stuff so they can get more followers...ultimately the only build that matters is the one you're playing. Barely a fraction of the people who play any game are streaming so that's not many. That was by far the cringiest part of Diablo 4; the devs and streamers telling everyone they were supposed to care about balance when I didn't meet a single player who had those concerns. If your damage numbers are higher than mine then that has no bearing on my experience.

Ah ok, fair enough 🙂 I've only been around since 1.0, really. Talking about monolith bosses from the campaign - is it intentional that Lagon's tentacle walls retract in the monolith encounter, allowing you to just stand on the stairs and ignore most of the mechanics? Or is that a bug?
Also - is there some kind of turbo-majasa in the works that you can talk about? 😄 I got splatted by her my first run through of the campaign and when I realised she wasn't currently in the monoliths I was both relieved and disappointed, haha

I wasn't here before 1.0, but there seems to be a huge gap between 'ward builds' and then 'everything else'. Did you expect this kind of meta to emerge or has it taken you by surprise? Was it common in the past for the meta builds to be hitting 2-3k corruption and less minmaxed builds to be almost tapping out between 3 and 500?
[edit] - I ask this as someone who is more than happy playing at 400corruption with my main character. I love that I can experience the end-game and rejig my builds when needed to progress, without NEEDING to follow a guide
We've seen runaway builds like these 4 digit corruption builds before. Ward seems to be ether "OP" or "useless". We've generally expected successful builds to be able to clear 300.
Any chance we'll see some of the "you got to cast the skill directly to get this benefit" passives relaxed in the future?
Stuff like the mana gain ("Mana Feast") on Rip Blood etc., there's plenty of it.
I guess these limitations are there to keep some power in check, but this is exactly the fun kind of power.
There's a lot of synergy between skills left on the table like this; figuring out interactions between skills and triggering more skills for benefits etc. is hella fun. I'm, personally, pretty sad to see it limited so much.

Hello. I had the same issue as @bk. Was trying to play with my friend (in my LE friend list). Showed he's in-game on steam but when in-game social showed no friends online. The solution that worked was both of us continuously restarting until it eventually started working. Is it planned for players to see if a tag on a skill (or skill node that adds that tag) to truly determine whether that skill or skill node scales with that tag?
There are a couple of nodes out there that apply bleed stacks for example but these bleed stacks do not scale at all even with the skill's primary damage stat (i.e. Intelligence for a certain Warlock skill)
Furthermore, the "meta" for some high performing builds seem to be rapid stacking of said ailments. There are a couple of uniques that amplify this effect by means of scaling cast speed for a certain stat, and a primary stat to be scaling tremendously high such as the immolator belt. This is double dipping. Applying stacks to yourself quickly by means of cast speed and then synergizing cast speed with high int onto dot builds (i.e. Chthonic fissures stacking torment).
Skills that have cooldowns without a dot component (the aforementioned skill is an exception due to many projectiles in its duration) just fall off fast after corruption 300-400 or so.
A solution would be to introduce a better proc coefficient for dots, ailments, and then amplifying that for skills with cooldowns. This way it doesn't just scale with primary stat, but a 4 second cd skill could have increased dot/ailment chance (coefficient) based on cast/attack speed for example.

You can direct P2P trade but all the same rules and restrictions of the bazaar apply, the only difference is that you know who you are trading with. The game still charges you favor and you can still only trade for gold.
I'm not sure I understand your question. If you are unclear on how something specific works, I would be happy to answer it. The skill tags do correspond with what affects it.
Does the balance team feel like Merchant's Guild is in a good place? I've played both factions to rank 10, and while my MG characters are far stronger than my CoF, the extra dimension that Prophecies add to farming makes it way more fun to play. Maybe MG could be reworked to also have missions that grant some MG related perks? Like favor/gold rewards/discounts, etc.
It's not really the balance team's job to do things like in your #1210282176680169562. MG brings plenty of depth and complexity as is. We will see more mechanics to engage with overall.
Hi Mike, thanks for taking some time again 🤗 understandable not a priority for a while, but curious nonetheless. Echos can be done relatively quickly, but they don't have to be. Scaling rewards from the reward chest is a nice incentive to spend a bit more time, but usually players tend to favor speed when they get a little more competitive or efficiency driven. This definitely doesn't apply to most players. Is there a chance we may see some changes in the future, where it is further encouraged to spend a little longer in echos, making it feel a little more engaging, even to more competitive consumers? Currently, I think we tend to slowly converge towards objective rushing. I should make clear that I do not think there's an inherent issue right now with that

Yup, on top of the items and stability you get from killing more enemies, we have started to add unexpected encounters (exiled mages are the first) which encourage exploration. I think what is missing is some sort of timeline level (where you pick the echo) indicator for guaranteed some event to exist somewhere in the echo so that you know to always explore that one. That's on top of the full random ones.

How does auto sort function as it seems a bit off.
Great example is a stash full of keys, when auto sorted same keytype is not sorted per row/column but seemingly randomized order, when sorting again the order changes slightly.
It's incredibly simple, it takes all the items, starts with the 2x4 items and places them in the box starting in the bottom left corner. Then it repeats for 1x4, 2x3, 2x2, 1x3, 3x1, 1x2, 2x1, 1x1. The order it looks at the items in is the order they were added to the box in. So since sorting technically takes everything out and puts it back in, the order it is placed in the box changes so the sort order changes. I actually made that about 5 years ago as a quick and dirty version to be used temporarily and we've just never gotten around to updating it.
Are CoF prophecies affected by rarity/LP modifiers from where they are dropped? If that is the case, wouldn't completing prophecies in high corruption monos always be better than doing the arena or dungeons for example?
Also, is there a reason why favor is account wide, but individual prophecies aren't? If there's an alt I'm not enjoying playing anymore, but I just spent a bunch of favor on prophecies I won't fulfill, it seems like a waste.

50 is the max corruption you can gain from gaze in 1 fight
(I'm not sure how that translates to actual gaze but it's some weird log function I think)
Not that I know of but it's possible that some dialogue is like some obscure reference or something that I don't know about.
and like, there are tons of node names for skills and passives that are references to magic cards but I'm not sure that counts really because it happens by mistake in games all the time just because of the sheer volume of magic cards
lol that reminds me, the original set of endgame maps in poe were all basic/fetch/hybrid lands. also gaspar himself in LE is a pretty big reference to chrono trigger

is this documented somewhere in the game guide? i think it'd be best to let players know of the actual max number of gaze that you can stack before fighting the shade of orobyss when pushing corruption for max efficiency. i remember stacking 20 gaze and noticed that the bonus corruption to gain in the shade echo no longer upgrades. if that's about 10 max gaze per fight, then it's easily 10 wasted gaze 😦
You never want to go above 3 gazes for efficiency
It goes something like 9,9,7 bonus corruption, so even on the third one you're wasting a little bit but usually that's just how much stability you get until you reach a good shade

Nah obviously its at CTRL+SHIFT+WIN+ALT+T
You generally don't care much about exploring an individual web when pushing corruption, you simply choose a direction and go straight out from the center in as straight of a line as you can, so you can get to a high corruption shade as fast as possible, you're still doing echoes and gaining stability, and as thus also gaining gazes at the same rate that you would if you explored a web extensively, but by doing this you're fighting shades more often, and gaining their inherent corruption more often. Also like I mentioned before gazes have pretty strong deminishing returns after 3 or 4 so you're simply just wasting stability if you spend more than that. So you want to get to a shade before accumulating too much stability
lol management are some of the best jokers on the team. We've got like off topic channels that people hang out in sometimes. It's all pretty open though.

DoTs & ailments are intended to be subject to the attribute that the skill that applies it scales with. But for some reason, as shown in the video & timestamp, this isn't always the case, making for "really bad skill nodes" as they don't scale with anything. My question was if there were plans to make these nodes' show their tags so we can see if they scale or not (And also makes it easier to report a bug "that's not a bug"). So that say, it is easy to identify whether Laceration's Bleed (in the video timestamp) is supposed to stack with Hungering Souls' Grave Bond.

Ailment, Intelligence```
This way, you can conclude that it's intended that Gravebond skill node from Hungering Souls doesn't increase Laceration's damage from Spirit Plague, because none of the tags match. But as of now, the content creator is firmly concluding here that Laceration scales with absolutely nothing. And while you can conclude that with testing, it would be great to be able to just add tags to skill nodes so that the logic can do its magic while also making it clear for the players on the fly instead of equipping 1 item at a time and see what works, and also, again, prevent potential false bug reports.
Edit: Hiding these tags under [Alt] as so to prevent tooltip bloat because the function is already there seems like a good idea.
No because if we start listing those then we have to list them all and the list would be overwhelmingly long for every single node.
and they would have to be manually created and maintained. Every time a new mod was added to the game, you'd have to check every single node in the game for compatability.
it's technically a bug: It's treated as part of Spirit Plague, but doesn't take Spirit Plague's nodes. It should on paper, take Spirit Plagues nodes but NOT any other skills' nodes, similar to Bone Curse.

Imagine, you have a 2H weapon equipped and a full inventory. You open the Forge to upgrade your 2H Weapon and spot you picked up a really good 1H weapon and want to know what will be better.
You put the 2H weapon in the Forge and equip the 1H weapon so you can compare them. After upgrading the 2H weapon you realise that the 1H weapon is better but the 2H Weapon is worth keeping (for an Alt, or slamming later) so you close the Forge and carry on.
You finally get to a Stash to put away everything, but what's this? Where is your 2H Weapon? Well as (in this scenario) you didn't have space in your inventory for it, it dropped on the floor when you closed the Forge and since you've changed zones, it's now gone forever.
That's why items stay in the Forge when you close it 😊 this way, you can empty your inventory to the Stash, move the item out of the Forge into your inventory and then Stash it safely!

Sorry if it's not the best place to add this but can electrify get some love? I see juicy affixes like increased ignite chance and duration but nothing specific to this one ailment. Not to disregard the uniques that enable such builds, but it can be further improved.
Also maybe combine it with shock somehow as the latter only has 10 stacks (although good effect, feels like a waste of stat if you apply it fast) - maybe get some of the shock bonuses after x amount of electrify stacks?

Hardcore stash doesn't change. Only characters do if they die. No details about cycle-end stash have been announced, but most likely will be remove-only like in PoE.

1-3: we don't have information regarding the status of bugs in ask-the-devs-no-support
4: All unique items equippable in hand (weapons, shields, catalysts) have unique 3D models. For helms, body armors, gloves, and boots, this is a far more signifigant undertaking as we need to model, texture, and rig these separately for each of the classes. It's something we'd like to do, but no current ETA as it's such a significant task it would be quite noticably be taking away from other features we could be adding that are more time efficient.
5: These tend to be very specific - It's not something that has one universal fix as we need to go into the map data itself to make fixes to that specific spot. If you've reported that case, we'll fix it.
6: We don't have any publicly available information regarding upcoming classes or masteries
7: We don't have a current ETA for character customization, but we'd like to add it. Again, an extremely signifigant undertaking for what it adds. We previously weren't looking into this because it is such a significant undertaking, which we did not have the studio size or budget for, and also our characters have been designed as distinct characters - they are their own person with their own backstories, so customization didn't make as much sense. We also focused on each character having a distinct silhouette so they could easily be picked out as that character (at a glance you can say "that's a primalist" regardless of what armor they're wearing), which customization can conflict with.
8: Yes, we'd like to do community events with rewards, and MTX are certainly potential rewards. No current ETA
9: These already exist as class specific uniques already exist which means with LP when they're upgraded to a legendary they become class specific Legendaries.

All purchases are handled by Steam - we never come into contact with purchase info so that's not something we can do. and we cannot tell steam to VAC ban someone, or report their purchase method. Indie developers being able to do this through steam I think is something that could very easily be abused, even if there are cases with the purest of intentions.

I'm not sure unfortunately. I know body types have changed for different classes - The forgotten knight in the end of time was originally added an homage to the original Knight class, which had Sentinel as a mastery, which was later changed to the Sentinel we know now which as the Void Knight as a mastery. If we introduce character customization, body type selection would be one of the options.

Question regarding drops in multiplayer.
What I have seen while playing over 500h is that when an certain items drops when playing in a party from mage/bosses/chests, 90%+ of the time everyone in the group gets that item dropping at the same time and often same LP roll (but this is more random).
Is there anything in the coding towards this to "force" more similar/duplicate-ish drops from enemies/chests to drops for each player
With that said, which classes underwent this whole Knight - Sentinel - VK process? For those uninitiated like me.
Yeah, boss-exclusive drops are always the same items for everyone in the party (just different rolls/LP). Caches have semi-fixed drops in a kinda similar way, but it's based on the cache itself - each type of cache has a particular name and flavor text you can see when you mouse over it.
Sentinel underwent the biggest change. Each was split into a 3rd mastery class at about the same time but none of the other base classes changed.

I don't understand why puncture don't get the" hit melee" stat when it's proc by net and electric arrow does when used with the unique dagger...there is a lot of fun build to get with that spec.
That just means that the things you're trying to sell aren't really desired by others while the things you want to buy are very desired by others, that's just how an economy operates. Once you drop and sell something others want you'll reap the benefits. Although currently prices are still a bit inflated because of some recent events

I am just struggling to understand how I'd ever make 1.5 billion (or more!) gold to buy those "desired" items when I only currently have 5 million gold at level 99 after many hours of play. From my experience every patch broke working features and made a lot of stuff worse (and also fixed stuff of course). I was wondering if you guys are even doing QA?

uniques are not weighted by class. its deisgned to be a "oh thats cool, lets make an alt" or "let me farm this unique that i need for this build". normal gear is weighted towards your class tho.
The stash is attached to the SAF "league", not any given character. Opting out of SAF does not do anything to the stash, other than make it inaccessable to that character
so if I opt out, gold/runes/glyphs remain behind, same with stash?
I assume if I wanted to move stash items I could create additional characters to opt out and transfer them, but is there a way to move shards/gold/glyphs/runes/etc.

I don't think it's a busy server thing. Like me, lots of players play NA prime time and never run into that kind of issue. If verifying files and playing wired-only doesn't change anything, I would cut my losses and play offline.

Cdr only effects skill cooldowns directly on the bar. Procs and such are not effected ever

I think i've reported that already but unique bow prophecies tend to give out exalted bows instead of unique ones, just a heads up and they are not getting duped so something's wrong

There are a number of prophecies that fail to give its appropriate reward if some condition is not met. "Unique Armour (X Weaver's Will)" will roll items of any armour type (helm, body, belt, boot, glove, shield) then convert it to the appropriate reward. If the item rolled helm or body, the conversion fails because there exists no unique weaver helms or bodies. So the rare/exalted item drops instead with the appropriate faction requirement applied by the prophecy (Rank 2 for 8WW, Rank 6 for 16WW). Similarly, Unique Idols fail if the resulting reward is supposed to drop a mage idol and your character isn't a mage. You get a random idol with a rank 4 requirement. Acolytes will get rare/exalted bows instead of "Unique Bow", "Unique Ranged Weapon", and "Unique Ranged Weapon (1 Legendary Potential)", where ranged weapons are just bows atm.
If a skill has a "%More" modifier skill tree node, does that modifier apply only to ailments applied by the skill via base functionality, or would that also affect external sources of say, "ignite on hit". Meaning additional ignites applied by "hits" would also be scaled by the skill tree node?

I think I fixed my issue (fingers crossed) -- could work for others.. @ruby stump advised verifying files, did that nothing so said f it lets uninstall.
Now the only issue is after uninstalling and waiting for reinstall to complete, I realized I never disabled OneDrive on my new PC - So I did.

Spark charges (and Shadow Daggers) are a special case, and will not inherit anything from a skill's tree that does not explicitly call them out

It feels bad to lose stability, get blessing and boss specific loot but not gaining gazes for corruption increase, essentially leading to "wasted time" faming stability / progress without gaining any.
Also same applies to shades attempts to consume gazes to gain corruption?

Rarity decides the rarity of the item, if a prophecy says "1 exalted ring" then that ring will be exalted, rarity won't give it a chance to become unique or something

my thoughts on the matter is that if they didn't want this to exist, then the in-game UI would be better. at least we get better searching functionality inside a browser.
Edit: It's actually worse than the in-game UI. But it creates an atmosphere that maybe EHG can roll out some UI changes sooner than later, but considering the cycle is p much over, it'll likely be later.
I wouldn't expect any changes until 1.1 earliest. Nobody's going to come back to play this cycle because of the bazaar UI.

Why were several basic functions excluded from the Bazaar UI? Basic functions such as being able to search for ranges of rolls on items (I.E. such as Omnis rolling 1-48 on each resist) and not being able to designate specific tiers of affix rolls is painful. Idols also are a nightmare to buy/sell and should likely require you to select the base of the idol and then you are only allowed to select affixes that can spawn on that idol. Are there going to be meaningful updates to this?

The NPCs inside the bazaar are a cool design element/create immersion, especially because it's trading with multiple folks in the guild. However, ARPGs are about time investment and currently with Point 1 and 2 combined, the NPCs in the bazaar are just a time sink that I can guess not a lot of folks really enjoy. Will the team be looking to maybe condense these down (I.E. 1 NPC for General Idols, 1 NPC for class specific, 1 NPC for weps, etc etc.)

Hi! Can I ask how exactly defensive stats working?
I mean.. we have blocks, okay block chance and block effectiveness is clear. But then we have armor + resistance. How it work? for example.. I have 70% armor, and 75% of all ressitance. I will get shot for 1000(without any reducing rn.) so if I suppose to get shot for 1000 and have this ressitance how much will I get shot? Thanks!
I am little confused now, because in game I play before this wasn't resistance for physical, and for physical dmg reduce was armor there.

I was wondering if there may be a plan to have a dungeon mechanic to undo bad slams. Nothing feels worse than spending dozens of hours tryng to get the right unique with enough lp to feel that its worth it, and then also the right exalted item to slam and it coming out in the least ideal combination it could be. at least the efforts for the unique hunt wont be such a waste..

In the Resounding Abyss node for Abyssal Echoes, "Echoed casts deal more damage" refers to the VK passive right? Not when it "echoes" from other mobs past the initial cast?
I think it's because if you're using a wand you can get increased spell damage since most void skills are spells. Don't need to double up for the increases

It's -35% to -15% to your damage taken, the range is always gonna go from lower to higher value, -35 is less than -15 so that's how the range shows. The affix text says "xx% Less" which is the same thing as "-xx% taken"
Armour and resistance are completely seperate.
let's take your example and say you have 70% DR from armour, and 75% all resistance and no other damage mitigating layers, and let's assume two scenarios:

At area level 75+ enemies will have 75% resistance penetration, so you'd take
1000 * (1 - 0.75(resistance) + 0.75(enemy penetration)) * (1 - 0.7 (armour)) = 300 damage taken -
you take 1000 lightning damage (or any other damage type):
1000 * (1- 0.75(resistance) + 0.75(enemy penetration)) * (1-0.7*0.7(armour is only 70% effective against damage types other than physical)) = 490 damage taken

Sorry I don't really understand the question, but everything from cycle 1 will be moved to legacy when cycle 2 starts, so everyone will have an even playing field when cycle 2 starts, no one will have items from cycle 1 to sell or anything. (sorry didn't see that others already answered)

That makes sense. I hit them a bunch, it creates a huge number of explosion graphical effects, those cause the lag and lock me in place while the explosion timers run out, explode, and then the lag goes away. Fun times.

It seems there are some features missing between online/offline play, but I'm not sure if these are going to stay as is, or we can expect changes later.
1, In offline we have new item indicator highlight in the inventory until we mouse over them once, in online we do not have that.
2, In offline we cannot access leaderboards. I get that we can't compete on the leaderboards, but I think we should be able to view it at least.
3, In offline we have no access to the cashshop. Buying cosmetics should be available for offline too imo.
Just for clarification. When I say offline, I mean starting the game up with internet access intact, and choosing offline mode. Not that we have no internet access, or starting the game without internet access via steam.
In the first point it also happens for online play and I believe it's a bug.

I'm trying to understand some things about how the Abyssal Echoes upgrade Potent Corruption (initial burst now hits and deals spell damage) works, but they're kind of hard for me to test and figure out myself. For clarity, when I say "chained cast" I'm meaning the repeats ("echoes") that are inherent to the skill, not the VK passive.
- Does it cause the chained casts to hit too?
- If the initial cast overlaps with chained casts (or chained casts with each other), will an enemy be hit more than once?

This just came up with some friends that I'm getting into the game... Why don't we have pants? And since we don't have pants... What is our belt holding up?
Wanting clarification on the 1lp unique item prophecies. Do they give a set 1lp, guarantee 1lp then roll 2,3,4 as normal, or do they have a minimum 1lp like julra uniques (aka, if lp==0 after lp roll then lp=1)?
It's a very long story but essentially, we didn't want too many different equipment slots and we figured that pants didn't have a unique thematic niche and could be easily combined with chest. Which you'll notice is called body armor so it covers shoulders, chest and pant slots if we are looking at things like wow for reference.
It's like julra, 1st LP guaranteed. They can have more. (It doesn't work like how you put though, it gives it 1LP and then rolls for 2)
so overall, we should see an improvement in the odds of getting more than 1lp because we get past the roll for the first LP for free?

Especially with higher LPL uniques, it isn't a big difference in higher LP values though.
My experience with temp sanctum drops is MUCH more indicative of the way i've presented it (or at least the equivalent, where subsequent lp chance is not impacted by the guaranteed lp)
If they did skip the 1lp roll then they'd be relatively common at 2lp, but i've done hundreds of t4 sanctum runs with only one or two 2lp julra drops
The community considers them very rare at 2lp as well, so it's not just me being unlucky
LEtools also shows subsequent lp's not being impacted by the guaranteed LP
I might be wrong about julra but the prophecy works as I've put above.
The player data is not statistically relevant but I understand why it feels like it is.
The data on last epoch tools uses a single formula for every unique and doesn't look at the guaranteed chance.

They have access to the API beta. It's with the understanding that it's not quite ready yet. There are a few sites with access now. I expect it will open up.

It feels bad to lose stability, get blessing and boss specific loot but not gaining gazes for corruption increase, essentially leading to "wasted time" faming stability / progress without gaining any.
Also same applies to shades attempts to consume gazes to gain corruption?

Are there plans to rework idols? Compared to any other equipment, they are so much more tedious to obtain with the desired values. I really do like the idols, but having an option to refine them or to reforge them, just as other equipment, would be really awesome. Tiers on the affixes would be appreciated, but I guess that can be hard to balance.
Even with the increased Large Idol Drop Blessing and focussing on Large Idol Prophecies, I never once received the Affix combination I'm looking for, not to mention that a drop could be very bad and I actually desire 4 of them for my build. Farming them is a nightmare.

It's a joke - while trying to fix a bug unrelated to Falconer OR Gathering Fury, the team discovered that on the patch build, if you used the Falconer Skill while having Gathering Fury equipped you would lose all HP. We found this a little funny internally and thought we'd share it.

I finally got my computer-crashing sorted. i think. limited my FPS to 100, and kept an eye on my memory useage while playing. Booted the game when my overall memory useage exceeded 50% and i havnt had a crash since. Not the ideal way of playing but it seem to work.

Hey Mike; I was toying w/ Spellblade this weekend again after playing RM/Sorc for several hundred hours this cycle. My first 200 hours was playing it prior to 1.0 launch and I can't help but be bummed out about a few things w/ how very limited spellblade plays (defensively, build diversity, etc.) For instance, spellblade's ward gen is on the low side comparative to it's RM brethren, where it's defensive layers are rather limited and even takes 9% MORE damage to dual-wield which is part of the class fantasy.
Any plans for updates come Cycle 2 to make spellblade feel better? lol.

Yes, it has a smooth curve function which defines the rate at any corruption value. The values listed are examples to give a general idea of the scale on which it is affected at a few points.

The cooldown of abilities is rounded to the nearest tenth on tooltips, is this also true internally?
An important use case is stacking cooldown reduction for Dancing Strikes which has stark CDR breakpoints because the cooldown is 0.7s by default.

We don't consider paladin a support archetype specifically but it does have the most support tools. We will continue to add support tools to the game. I've got a support lock that's a ton of fun to play.

I am trying to calculate a rough damage output number to compare a attack speed build vs a crit build using the same skill. How would i factor in attack speed to the damage output? Weapons have a base attack rate of 1.16, skill has a base speed of 1.375 per second, and there is the increased melee attack speed percentage
Does corruption scale not get shared with teammates via drop rate or anything?
attack speed on weapons is literally a reworded more attack speed stat.
That weapon has the stat 16% more attack speed built into it.

the ability attacks at 1.375 attacks per second
16% more attack speed means that you get 1.595 attacks per second.
dual wielding averages the attack speed of both weapons and applies it as 1 more attack speed multiplier
Could you entertain a question of if this function lands at around 11.6% for 400 corruption? This is a literal guess from plotting the points you guys gave and brute forcing a function to fit them

do runes of Ascendance have a lower % of rolling LP?
Since stash tabs are an in game resource purchased thing, having them carry over from cycle to cycle doesn't make sense as one of the main reasons to do a cycle is to give everyone the chance to start on the same playing field. While having stash tabs doesn't directly affect your character power, it does mean that you are able to spend that gold on something else and gain other advantages faster.

Ingame bug reporting grabs previous and current player logs, even getting kicked out, its still pulled, sent, and helpful.

when are we able to expect deeper crafting? like forging your weapon and armor to get the stats you want to have and get decent mod cap to build a weapon of our liking
the crafting system in this game is already one of the most liberal in the entire genre, you can realistically get "perfect" (t20) rares in days of playing at endgame. if you mean t22+ exalts or LP3+ levels of power, those are meant to be a long term chase. the forge is already really close to being an item editor outside of those cases lol
I have no memory of that, the 1st LP roll is kinda that in a way but that's for everything.
We have no plans to add a way to make a base weapon from component materials that you salvage. Since base weapons have static implicits, a player created base item would be identical to an white item that you pick up. Our current crafting system already allows you to build your intended affixes as you want. We do plan to expand crafting possibilities with more runes, glyphs and end game systems.

It's usually something that should be generically useful as a little extra. The main part of the affix should be the +levels. We added them because we needed something to scale with tiers because having +7 to a skill on an exalted that could be attached to a unique which had another few +skills would get too nutty.
This was white, yellow because crafts, but the void dmg is a useless stat. Hence why hand crafting a weapon with static limitations bur stats we choose , would be nice. also this is on a lich

CoF upgraded rune of ascendence at level 2. So it makes sense to only use rune of ascendance on faction items

Yea, I hadn't thought of that situation. I think the argument has a bit of a catch22 though, if you're finding enough of the item to where you need to know if it's the right type or not then you're probably outpacing your rune of ascendance acquisition pretty hard anyways. If you're not finding that many in general then you aren't having to check that many either.

I have 100+ runes and have to check all amulets rare and exalted. In the endgame, stuff turns out different. I dont like to see amulets that are not CoF cause they are useless, just like why filters exist, to filter out trash

We've never intended a 100% loot filter. We don't want to completely remove the player evaluation step from the equation. I've lost several debates in trying to get more stuff added to the loot filter and I would be shocked if I could get this one over the line.

It's not hopeless, something I've been advocating for going into the loot filter for a long time has a glimmer of hope now. So it's not set in stone.

it is an actual area, it's pretty easy to test in multiplayer but it's about the width of the screen on a 16x9

We have considered in game statistics like that and there are a few that we could probably do. None are actually planned as far as I know.
I am a big proponent of that sort of stats aggregation, it can give players not only insight into their characters, but of their own playstyles as well

We will continue to make balance changes every major patch. Specific class reworks are very heavy undertakings and while I can see why someone might think that shaman or forge guard need a rework. I think that their core systems are very solid and the main reason people don't like them is just that their numbers aren't big enough. I think a rework would be a waste of dev time.
This might just be a terminology thing though, rework to me implies replacing most of the skills from scratch.
I don't have any details on specific potential upcoming balance changes.

How do you guys as devs feel about super rare and strong items that could basically go in any build? Like headhunter/mageblood type items from poe.
check out what we did to Bastion of Honor. It's still good with block focused builds but it no longer is good in every build that doesn't desperately need something else in that slot.

It's still very strong for builds that can stack strength, but it used to be THE shield that everyone used (it was a little problematic admittedly)

would you consider adding search functionality to the merchants guild to sort by roll ranges for affixes? especially for something like idols where every affix is of the same tier, roll quality is quite important in determining the value of an idol. when I was trying to buy idols for my build I found myself going through many pages of idols with the same affixes to find ones with good rolls, which was frustrating. I feel as though the cost of getting items from the merchants guild should be in resources rather than time
the problem with Bastion was that non-shield builds were using it as a default item. Unless you had some other build defining item that had to go in that slot, this is what you picked. and even then, you tried to find a way to use it anyways. Buffing other shields does not address this issue.

The "curse of perseverence" unique staff lets hungering souls shotgun, allowing projectiles to hit a target multiple times. Does that mean that each projectile can then also possess the target? or is possess still limited to 1 stack even with the staff

Hello, I have a question regarding Crest of Unity. I am using this for the +6 to elemental nova and the other nice stats it has for this skill. However, my build is lightning damage focused. How does this helmet affect the damage if the nova is always all 3 elements in this case? Thanks!
Your damage with nova will be split in thirds, one third for each element. If you have increased lightning damage, it will only apply with 1/3rd effectiveness. If you would like to discuss this further, please come to #🧙┃mage
Are there any plans for addressing damage over time from mobs. There doesn't seem to be enough ways to mitigate this damage type?
I think for now best way is through idols. I have seen idols that have secondary affixes "Take less damage overtime"

Incoming dot damage is designed with this in mind so if we did add more, we would also probably buff the damage they do.
We have recently added the experimental affix which gives armor applies to dots that you can use.
It's the only thing that kills me and feels very high in corruption tbh and I have high health and good gear. Looks like that experimental affix is something I'll have to slot in. It rolls on.. gloves, only?

What you're saying is it's something, but not a lot, vs dots. Because dots are kind of crazy anyways if you're built on health based defense. And my armor is pretty high, at 60. And my health is 3500+. So I might just switch to ward instead of chasing a small % damage reduction on a dot. I've pushed this as far as I can and the mitigation isn't there really

Question: Are COF prophecies influenced by the "x% increased item rarity" based on the corruption level?
Ex - If I had a prophecy for unique boots, will the LP on it be higher in 2000 corruption vs 100 corruption?
Ward is not inherently better against dots, in some cases its actually worse since outside of busted sources of generation you'll generally have less recovery on ward based builds.

What is the exact reason of not being able to sell slammed items when u bought the unique/exalted from the bazar like how should people make actually good legendarys that are sellable by dropping and flipping them? Like no wonder why most if not all legendarys in the mg are simply bad also i think it would be simply better to be able to sell them after the slam cause rn good items are just dissappering after bought and i have a lp3 laddle good if not perfect slams at least by affixes and i dont even use it since i have a lp4 better one but others still need it so why wouldnt i be allowed to list it again?
As you say most classes or subclasses are solid, but they lack in power compared to new ones because passives are underpowered and skilltrees are suboptimal. Older classes would come a long way with a little reshuffling of skill nodes. Many old skills are much weaker because you have to waste points unlike newer skills which have more efficient paths and have stronger skillnodes.

They haven't made a statement on that but prophecies are something that I wouldn't be surprised if they got lost.
The one statement I recall about favor is that they intend for you to get the better of your rank. If you're rank 3 on legacy and rank 7 on cycle, when the season ends, you can expect Legacy to become rank 7.

They do plan on expanding crafting, and items as a whole as the game progresses from what they've said on the dev streams and here on discord but nothing has been announced.
How does endless arena scale in comparison to corruption? I feel like i can crush 400+ corruption but around 190 arena it just seems incredibly higher difficulty.
When slamming an item, we'll use an LP3 and a T7, T5, T5, T5 exalted for the example. 3 slots will be filled with 3 of the 4 affixes from exalted. Does it roll slot 1 and each affix has a 25% chance to fill it, then slot 2 is rolled at a 33% chance, etc. Or does it roll all 3 slots at once and choose 3 of the 4 each at 25%?
It doesn't really matter as long as it's not weighed, since at the end of the day you'll have 4 choose 3 combinations, as in, who cares if it picked affixes in the order:
3, 1, 2,
or
2, 1, 3,
even if it did it one at a time and picked the next choice from what's left over you're still only caring about combinations, not permutations.
And it's not weighted. If you just want to know from a behind the scenes standpoint, I obviously don't know but i highly, highly suspect it does them one at a time, first doing a 1/4 and then 1/3 and lastly 1/2.

The boss defenses adapt to how fast you're killing it.
Most people upon learning about this wonder if there is an optimal strategy to kill bosses that might include intentionally slowing DPS at some point. There isn't.

Question is : I used the experimental item "2.5 second of traversal skill cooldown recovered on potion use", now I have 2.3 second cooldown of the traversal skill which is teleport, but after using the pot the skill still has a split second cooldown, I thought after using the pot, the traversal skill will reset and it can be used straight away, is that a bug? or a system like that? thanks for respond
