how many hours spent is an 'old player' for you? I think I'd get bored around the 500h mark (I'm around 200 in LE atm), which is where most arpgs fall off in general. unless they have a super fast content pipeline like PoE1

I'm very much in the category of people losing desire to play at all. Updates are sparse and imo lackluster, the game quality is shoddy and seems to get more buggy as each update hits, the balancing and design are both absolute nonsense, etc. I'm just waking up so I can't go into depth well atm, but I know I'm not the only one in this range who feels like this

yeah fair enough, I have ~1k in poe and 500 in grim dawn, I don't expect to sink 1k in LE just yet, it's a change of pace when I want a different arpg. I come back every year, make some chars and chill. back when we were a bit more serious about it, around patch 0.9/release, we cleared endgame with my friend and realized we ran out of content, aside from doing dungeons / arenas on increasingly absurd damage % modifiers

Endgame really hasn't changed there. They've added Harbies and Abby, that's really it. Everything else is just "monolith but with a quirk"

poe mostly wins bc it has enough obscure bosses from previous leagues (+ ubers now) that you always have something interesting to work for

See, I found the old influence system to be really tedious. My issue with endgame is not inherent repetition, it's that the repetition in LE has no breaks in its routine. It is the same thing in every single echo. There's no mechanics to change it, nothing to stop you from just rushing forwards, nothing to take my attention for a bit, etc.

you barely get into the groove of combat and you finish the map

I have sadly over 700 hours of the game in hand but I have a learning disability so I just create a character and play it and mix match my armor and i die so fast its pathetic. Mostly it would boil down to "max resistances, get your HP + armour up".
The stats tell you what they do when you hover over them.

The damage part you get from your build, which takes a lot of time to get right and is kinda disappointing... Melee just depends on your POV i guess... Sping to Win and Erasing Strike makes being melee kinda irrelevant.

I have (very legit) "aspirational gear" for both my Judgement Pala and Warpath VK and Uber Aberoth is still barely possible for both.

Not to mention: The one thing you would want a tanky char for (HC), Pala also falls short because while Pala is still at high risk of getting killed while walking up, a ranged character would just one shot things from offscreen.

My idea would be to be able to have some prophecies that you can stick to the "pin" interface so you don't have to choose again, and they get fulfilled and reset at a favoir cost that depends on the prophecies power. Now, this thing could get scale in power/usefulness by implementing it in different ways.
One could be by choosing normal prophecies to pin there so they always stick there, so you could fulfill them and reset them - lets say for example 4 (or even more) general rune prophecies that fulfill on boss kill. So that when you fulfill them, you just go back to the observatory, click reset, and they go back up to be fulfillable.
Another way would be to make them a bit like blessings: you kill a boss or reach a milestone, you unlock the slot and choose a prophecies to put there. Maybe even a more powerful prophecy like "10 runes of havoc when you kill Aberroth" or "10 1Lp swords when you kill a timeline boos over 500 corr" or something like that.
In this way, it wouln't be a cheat for beginners that would speed up way too much progress in the beginning, but would allow players that are more advanced to access easily and quickly to some resources that they need repetitively.
it's just an idea, but is open to creative suggestions.

the problem I'm trying to fix here is something that has been recurrently complained about: the fact that even after hundreds of hours of gameplay, you still have to stay there and click until you get arthritis to fill your prophecies panel... which is meant in design to make it so people have to think about how they spend favor... but at the point where you gain so much exp that favor comes faster than you spend it, it become just a chore with braindead repetition rather than an interactive, deliberate choice on "how should i spend my favor the best way"

Just because it's known doesn't mean reporting it more doesn't help. It's improved now so they prob fixed what they could find from the reports when it was first happening, so reporting it now might help them improve it further with current logs. As long as you're not literally spamming the same report like 20 times for the same thing they advise that you report it as much as you can be bothered to basically

Fire aura isn't the only weak build correct, but there are builds that are both faster at clearing and better at single target than it, it's not an issue to do with high aoe fast clearing builds. It's more to do with fire auras poor and weird scaling

Your best option for single target is usually disintegrate but that skill is unfortunately also fairly mediocre currently
