XY-problem 🙂
So i need to get access to the files within the container
That doesn't work, as that is not persistent
anything editted in an add-on container is lost later
So, my guess is you are misunderstanding the instructions
You mean lost at an update
do you have a link to that add-on for me?
At restart even
No. Config.php
The documentation you linked of that add-on doesn't list that?
I'm having this issue
That requires editing of the config.php which is inside of that addon container
nextCloud configuration is mostly manual for stuff like enabling https
Right, that should be exposed in the add-on instead
editting files inside the add-on itself is not right and not how it should be solved
(as you already noticed by my responses above)
So when i reboot HA, my nextCloud configuration will be wiped?
?
You said that files inside the container are not persistent
Correct
in the container itself it will not presist
It applies the config by env variables
Then what i can do is make a docker volume
No
you can't that part is handled by HA Supervisor
if you need manual stuff you have 2 choices:
- Fix the add-on
Oh the data is stored on the share dir
The link you sent sets the config folder on an smb share
This way it doesn't save the config inside the container
why does it even handle env variables in that case? :S
For first time setup
I'm going to just say it:
This add-on sounds absolutely terrible, you shouldn't use it
https://github.com/alexbelgium/hassio-addons if you must use nextcloud as an addon inside haos, i'd probably use the one here
Yup that might be a good source as well
Having to go into containers to edit files means either of the following:
- Adding needs to be fixed or extended
- One is doing it wrong 😬
- Look for a better one
- You are wanting something excotic, an add-on might not be a solution to go for.
That one looks maintained
tell me more about the exotic option
Thx
yeah
With the Grocy addon. It turns on my torch whenever it attempts to do the barcode scanning. Which is then blinding and causes it to fail to scan anything, any ideas on turning it off? I've searched through the menus best I can. Hidden config item maybe?
thumb
Tried that. Light source is too close to camera, thumb lets light reflect around too well
sorry that was more of a joke, but yeah I don't know what it allows for. Does it open a separate barcode scanner app?
You might check the linuxserver.io server
No obviously open apps, but it could in theory be embedding something.
I saw a comment there about using other devices <#506828117180940348 message>
There's a lightbulb next to the scanner for me
There's also FEATURE_FLAG_AUTO_TORCH_ON_WITH_CAMERA which is a config option, you should be able to configure that
That's hilarious, I just noticed it. But the moment the bulb turns on, the button disappears. It's basically unclickable for me
You may need to open an issue on the repo to get that option added
@weary stratus I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Hrmm, I linked you to zigbee but you ended up in here. weird.
Hi, I've got problems installing Grocy. When pressing start, it just "bounces", doesnt seem to initialize anything. The log output however seems fine, but gets stuck on Starting NGinx... any ideas?
System: Home Assistant OS 9.4 (armv7 / raspberrypi3)
Home Assistant Core: 2023.1.1
Home Assistant Supervisor: 2022.12.1
Hi all, I've been searching for a good source of actionable information for a layperson on InfluxDB.autogen downsampling.
The InfluxDB web repository refers to a completely different version nowadays as compared to the add-on in HA, making it difficult to translate functionally.
Has anyone encountered a how-to on setting up appropriate queries to down sample existing data, modifying the defult autogen database and setting up buckets for everything?
Please @ me when responding.
anyone know if you can use HACs on a Docker Install?
another day, another Adguard home question!
How can I define more IPs for it to listen on? "AdGuard Home DNS server is listening on the following addresses:"
idk if it's an addon... containorized HA I don't think you can use addons
I'll dig in!
thx
Home Assistant Community Store allows for easy installation and management of custom unsupported integrations. They even have a Discord server for issues with HACS itself.
Hi, anyone got ideas on this? I've tried several reboots and reinstalls of the addon.
So what's the deal with Z-WaveJS lately??? A year or so ago everything worked tickety-boo but these last 4-6 months or so, I've had several devices go ☹️ . Today I restarted my host ODROID and I had 6 of them come up ☹️ - 2 locks, 3 iBlinds and 1 switch. A simple ping restores them but I have repeatedly had a Zooz dimmer and one iBlind which have frequently gone ☹️ several times a week. I've made no changes in z-wave, zigbee, BT or my wi-fi for almost a year now... 😥
probably a question for #zwave-archived . I've had very few problems with it
@chilly olive #android-archived
This question does not appear to be related to any add-ons
Okay, sorry
hi,
what do i have to do to edit my home assistant config via visual studio code on my local windows 11 machine?
i know there is the addon but i dont like to code inside a browser window
install the extension in vs code, follow the instructions for connecting, connect via ssh
I am pretty sure I was helping you on reddit yesterday
i installed the extension and set the host url + Access Token but no luck
oh thanks alot for your help but i could not get it working
iam still trying (now on my windows machine and not on mac)
iam not sure how to connect via ssh
HA is not running on a pi, right
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/ssh okay, you should be able to follow this to remote connect via vs code
it says Install an OpenSSH compatible SSH client if one is not already present.
on my nuc or on my windows machine?
trying to get the amcrest add-on to work. I am getting login error but my credentials work for the amcrest app. are they're different credentials? ```
amcrest:
- host: 192.168.xxx.xxx
username: !secret amcrest_username
password: !secret amcrest_password
name: Garage Doorbell
binary_sensors:- motion_detected
- online
That looks like an integration
Most Amcrest devices use “admin” for the username, even if you’ve configured another username in their app.
@woven vault if you have the add-ons it's all in the documentation tab of the add-on. At least try somewhat before spamming a very vague question
The cloudflared addon doesnt need letsencrypt
What are you reading?
Didn't you say you had your own domain? You would make use of that at cloudflare and follow the rest of the instructions
to connect to the AdGuard Home add-on via the AdGuard integration, do I connect to port 3000?
nm 45158
Hey, I wanted to ask you which addon you use best and easiest for creating the flow.
Any idea why I can access Raspberry Pi HAOS interface fine over a site to site VPN but not the MotionEye interface?
I can't directly see the camera feed for some reason over the VPN.
It really doesn't sound like you're following the docs. You can use additional_hosts in the Cloudflared addon to expose additional services beyond HA and if you need to, there's a config for Nginix Proxy Manager if you're looking to go that route, but neither of those require you to do any certificate or TLS set up. Cloudflare will take care of that on the external side.
To my knowledge you need to access it over a secure connection, I don't believe it itself needs control of the certificates
The web interface on the camera port just randomly started working. Not sure why. I still have the issue that the overview page for the camera is not showing the camera feed.
They are connected with remote homeassist.
I'd imagine it shouldn't if ssl: false
I'm sure it does... but with out additional details on what it "doesnt do", it's difficult to see where you've gone wrong
Adding an additional certificate won't magically make cloudflare do anything
If that domain is truely pointing to CF, you can take a look at this doc to see if there's something up w/ the cert it issues https://developers.cloudflare.com/ssl/troubleshooting/version-cipher-mismatch/
A wildcard is only valid for one level of subdomain
lol
We would need more info. How did the MQTT install go?
nevermind..seems to work now 🙂
I'm currently trying to get infinitude working but struggling. But that kind of counts as experience?
@silver crown that's exactly where I am with it too. I can see the web interface so I know the proxy server is working, but it's not seeing my thermostat.
Is there an addon to automatically update IPv6 Cloudlfare DNS AAAA records? The only one I found only did IPv4
I really don't understand anything about Github (i'm sorry), but there the issue tracker says aqara cube t1 pro can be addes. Yesterday came the latest update for the Deconz add-on so I was assuming I would be able to add it. Unfornuately not, still not able to add it via phoscon.
I just made my IP static, which works too.
Can I manually trigger a backup with the Samba Backup addon?
Hi... I'm trying to start SSH & Web Terminal (Community Add-On) 13.0.2 - but it will not start. There's no configuration available - any idea?
I'm on the latest HASS-OS on Pi4
What do you mean by "there's no configuration available"?
the tab says, I don't have to do something
Should look something like this
this one
there's also another one available... but I wonder, why this doesn't work
which version, do U have?
checking...
there's configuration to both
the official one is working...
Well, you don't want both of them, so you gotta pick
Anyone had a database issue today? During the night, the connection to mariadb has broken somehow

@zinc terrace have you made any progress? My MariaDB just completely collapsed again during the day with nothing to explain why.
None of the backups are working, and there doesn't seem to be anyone able to assist here, so I am slowly devolving into madness, losing data every day.
I'd love to take all the long terms starts, drop the current states and move to a brand new installation but doing it through myPHPadmin is also not working.
If anyone can offer any assistance how to get out of this vicious cycle, I would greatly appreciate it.
- HA OS in VM
- I have VM snapshots but these are every 2-3 days, so I always loose a day or two
- MariaDB seems to be corrupted somewhere or my HA OS is, but I can't move to a brand new VM becuase MariaDB backups are not working at all, they are always corrupted from a working DB.
I've tried following MariaDB documentation, to no availa:
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/forcing-innodb-recovery.html
There is this 'manual' but it's also not working in this situation, can't get past recovery=1

I'm trying to move files to my media folder from my iPad using the Files app connected to the Samba share. I keep getting an error 100093, and people seem to believe it's related to readonly permissions. There are some configs people have used to tweak their Samba setup, but I can't find the "global" config.
Has anybody moved files to a samba share using the iOS Files app before? Any hints on configuring samba a bit more?
Hey Guys, i have a problem with my mosquitto broker add on. the integration didnt show me my tasmota hichi ir wifi reader for my electricity meter. i have set anything... did anyone have an idea what can i do?
The #integrations-archived will only "show" (discover) things that publish an MQTT Discovery payload
For everything else you have to define them manually
If you're not seeing the Tasmota device publish the payloads to the broker, that's a different problem
(still, if that's Tasmota, you should be using the Tasmota integration, not MQTT Discovery)
but when i use the tasmota integration, data will updated every 3-4 minutes
and the reader send information every second
Are the MQTT topics being updated every second?
yes
Then you have to manually define your MQTT sensor #integrations-archived
how? should we change to #integrations-archived ?
Yes
Did some more testing of my backup. This time it's weird cuz it looks like none of my addons started
Gonna try restarting the host
Actually what's really weird is the mariadb addon isn't even installed even though it's in the backup
Uh wait they are all running but they just don't say they are...
Oh I just ran out of disk space I guess. At least during the restore. Says I'm only at 75% now
@weary stratus I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Where can I add more samba configs to make it work well with MacOS? Trying to follow this; https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_Samba_to_Work_Better_with_Mac_OS_X
Hey so bad news. It looks like the backup is restoring fine now. This was failing on my test server which has more constrained resources. Particularly it's likely that the disk space was the problem. I'm going to resize the VM image now before I stand up my test server and see if that fixes the issue. But after standing things up on my desktop where there are plenty of resources, it seems like mariadb is restoring OK now
So you might be on your own :/
You said your prod DB seems fine though? Like no errors in logs anywhere?
Just problematic when you restore?
There's the phpMyAdmin addon where you can look at your data
Not sure what that would help with but just an idea
Otherwise you might want to get pretty familiar with mariadb
Try bringing the table or w/e files over to a standalone mariadb instance and see if it works there
And just read up more on the underlying architecture of mariadb to understand what those different file types are that it said were corrupt
Issue with Alexa-media-player someone can help me ?!
Just ask, don't ask to ask
You mean the #integrations-archived? Try that channel 😉
Should InfluxDB 'install' for 10-20 min just downloading the image?
This is the third attempt to install it and still https://i.imgur.com/8ZH8R3E.png
I've restarted HA, removed InfluxDB
Tried again, same story
When restarted it again it was listed in the addons, but corrupted, so I removed it again.
Tried rebooting the VM (plenty of space on the virtual drive - 100GB), still downloading for 10 min
Is there any way to check if it's an upstream issue with the image?
And finally Failed - unknown error....
I want to try and make an add-on to take readings from my water meter. Getting it running on a pi without ha needs the dev environment, rtl-sdr, rtl-wmbus, wmbusmeters, MQTT + usb access. Is it possible to do all this from within an add-on or do I need to get root access to hassio to install some of the stuff outside the add-on?
Why not use an add-on that already exists for just this purpose—or am I missing what you want to achieve?
https://github.com/weetmuts/wmbusmeters
Wmbusmeters (W-MBus to MQTT)
Current version: 1.11.0 (Changelog)
After it failed and sent unknown error - 10 minutes later it completed succesfully...
i didnt realise someone had already worked on it thanks, ill give it a try
Works like a charm, as long as you can keep your adapter rebooting (since they often lock up).
Depending on your water meter, there are even auto-discovery scripts for MQTT
I've created one for IZAR meter, but it's still a PR and not in yet.
@zinc terrace have you ever seen this - I am really at my whits end. Tried 10 different ways to go from a working DB to a new instance and always get corrupted DBs both in influx and maria
https://i.imgur.com/2O0Sy99.png
I seem to be extra 'special' that no one else is having any such issues.
Did you try just doing a partial restore of only maria?
Yes - 4 times. Doing it right now again with slightly different process.
Making small changes to my process and trying to figure out where the hell the issue is.
Just purged it to 3 days and left 500mb in it, just long term stats.
If this doesn't work, I have no idea what to do next
I am starting to believe it's the influx DB that is causing it
Tried creating a mariaDB backup (which worked) and next influxDB (which did this)
https://i.imgur.com/0Gv9fnm.png
If the InfluxDB fails to backup correctly all the time and cases the backup files to be corrupted, this could explain things
But funnily enough, nothing in the Supervisor logs, so it could have gone unnoticed for years.
https://i.imgur.com/hKVzTIM.png
So if you just backup and restore maria it's fine?
Just, after cutting it down to under 1GB
Before it would fail every time
It's 530mb and it went through.
So there is that.
I will probably have to get the InfluxDB gutted to the absolute minimum and try then.
Do you by any chance know how to graph long term statistics? I'd like to check their integrity by can't figure out how
MotionEye is not uploading to the sftp server. I am getting no errors at all and I can add files just fine when I log into the sftp server myself.
Note, I am not using the sftp addon. I am using a container for that on another system. I am using the motion eye addon
ive got it installed now and its picking up 3 different izar meters nearby, any advise on how to add the meters? The documentation just says to add them to "meters" with no information on where that is
the main document seems to indicate adding it to a conf file, but the add-on doesn't have any conf files to edit
I don't want to be one of these people - but google is your friend here. There are step-by-step guides you can use.
This said, since you are using IZAR meters, if you want I can upload the auto-discovery config I've created and you can just put it in, restart and have it autopopulate everything... 😉
You need to create an izar.json file in this folder
Here is the json you have to paste in the file:
https://pastebin.com/H0RE8gCh
You add the specific meters in the config as indicated in the Wiki.
Here is my config layout and you can see the two meters added:
https://i.imgur.com/od7h5bg.png
You need to identify which IDs are yours and which are for your neighbors. I use 2 meters, hence two entries.
Honestly, the documentation shows the same thing in the addon 'documentation' tab, so you must have missed it:
https://i.imgur.com/eRqJmIw.png
I saw that information, ive no idea what to do with it though. I have added whats needed to the configuration.yaml at the end
The issue seems to be too specific to the add-on to get an answer from google
Dude, seriously:
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=wmbusmeters+adding+meter
1st link from the top that isn't the actual addon
Step by step
I am being thick sometimes and can't follow what good people here are trying to tell me but that's just lazy...
Here is the 3rd link below:
https://hejdom.pl/blog/22-home-assistant/162-home-assistant-odczyt-stanu-licznika-wody-z-zakladka-apator.html
it doesn't help because i don't understand where to add the meter information, I must have spent about 2 hours trying to figure it out
I've given you my config which is matching exactly the documentation and both of the step by step manuals, I really do know how to help you any further but to remote into your PC and copy paste the code from these websites into your addon config:
https://i.imgur.com/od7h5bg.png
the other addons i installed to adjust files only allow editing the config/yaml files, they don't give access to anything else
dont worry about it then, thanks for the help so far. I am just missing something major somewhere which is supposed to make this easy 😦
This couldn't be any simpler!
You have to understand that the process here is in many steps:
- The radio signal is detected
- The telegram is decoded
- The telegram information either matches the meters listed above or not
- If yes then this information is passed onto HA as a JSON
- You can then either create a manual MQTT sensor (as described in these two manuals) or use my autodiscovery JSON file (as described above) to have the entity auto create a nice meter
If that is not detailed enough, I must ask that you read through the information in these manuals and figure out what you don't understand. Then look for that answer, and so on until you get what you need.
I think I have it, my options page was different to yours, i needed to click the dots and choose to edit in yaml for it to swap over
But that is the same as any addon you've ever installed....
im quite the novice to this, its the first time ive needed to do it
You can also add the meters from the interface, if you see fit, but that is in my opinion more error prone.
one other thing, my electic/gas meters are similar design, are they likely to be getting picked up as water meters by the addon?
The addon doesn't pick up 'meters'. It picks up telegrams which give you the information in the logs of the addon what brand of meter it is.
Then you specify the meter by giving the addon a template - the driver, to decode this telegram
This is once again all in the documentation:
https://i.imgur.com/uTvSgPM.png
OK, turning in. If you run into trouble, ping me tomorrow, and I'll try to help, but in the meantime, please read at least the https://github.com/weetmuts/wmbusmeters
It's almost all there
thanks again for the help, I should be ok now I know how to edit the config files
Just in case someone will be looking for it as well, I've finally found it:
https://alex3305.github.io/home-assistant-docs/add-ons/influxdb-backup/
Clear and simple InfluxDB down sampling and continues query manual for HA.
@zinc terrace, I've narrowed it down to large MariaDB and large InfluxDB being a culprit. I've downsampled influx to half it's original size (it's at 5GB now -yes I know it's still massive) and I can at least transfer mariadb alone.
Now working on creating continuous queries for Influx to downsize it even further to about a 1-2gb
This should allow influxdb to backup correctly and I'll finally be able to transiton to a new VM
The old one is now such a joke - it crashes every few hours spiting out errors every hour about something different. It's like a 30 year old tractor held together with zipties and luck..
I am migrating from docker ha to haos and I'm moving mqtt from ext server to mosquitto broker add-on. Is there anything to moving the mqtt integration to the internal server?
What is the URL to the local mqtt server?
According to the mosquitto broker docs, the MQTT broker should appear as a discovered integration. But it don't. I guess its my existing external mqtt server config that blocks that discovery
The internal server will be the same ip address as your HA machine, just port 1883
Yes, as seen from the outside. But what should be used in the integration setup?
For some reason I don't get an auto discovered mqtt integration when starting the mosquitto add-on. I need to set it up manually
I set mine up so long ago I don't remember if I had to do it manually or not.
Hi, my newly installed Grocy addon is stuck at Starting NGinx... I've not altered the default config. Running haos. Any ideas what's wrong?
Can the Z-Wave JS UI connect to a Z-WaveJS server running on another device? I'm looking for getting the z-wave UI in HA
Mosquitto Broker on HA OS question: by checking the logs of the Mosquitto Broker addons on HA OS (x86-64), I noticed that the docker supervisor (172.30.32.2) tries to connect each 2 minutes endlessly, flooding the logs.
2023-01-28 18:54:43: New connection from 172.30.32.2:55520 on port 1883.
2023-01-28 18:54:43: Client <unknown> closed its connection.
2023-01-28 18:56:43: New connection from 172.30.32.2:33074 on port 1883.
2023-01-28 18:56:43: Client <unknown> closed its connection.
Is that a normal behavior?
I see some of that in my logs from 20+ minutes ago, but it's not a crazy amount. ~50 over the last 2 hours
here it's at every 2min, so 30 per hour, 60 for 2 hours. Is it the same for you?
maybe it's a kind of healthy check, pretty weird behavior if you ask me
It stopped about 20 minutes ago, but yeah it's mostly every 2 minutes
same, my last is 21:26. It's the refresh that takes some time. the big question is why it does that
@mellow barn I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Can Someone help me out with this one?
I wanted to install PI hole on HA and it asks me for a Host IP. What do I need to enter there? Do I need to create a static Ip in my Router and assign it there? Or is it the same as the home assistant IP?
iclone: The Pi-hole integration allows you to retrieve statistics and interact with a Pi-hole system; you need to have Pi-Hole running on a system somewhere.
Ah ok, thank you. Then I'll set it up on another PI ^^
Any one around that might be able to help me with Some Zwave problems? I upgraded my z-wave js ui from 1.1.0 to 1.6.0 and now my z-wave js integration cannot connect to the z-wave js ui server. I can see my devices in my z-wave js ui control panel though. Now I have reinstalled from my back up and the JS integration still wont connect to the JS UI. Im running a supervised HA in VM on unraid.
Hello everyone !
I have a quick question. I just did a fresh install of Home Assistant OS 2023.1.7 on a NUC, and all the add-ons (SCS, Node-RED, File Editor) it keeps restarting randomly every few seconds (30-60 seconds)
Can't find any resources online about this issue. Any recommendations?
Hello, I am having trouble starting addons like the file editor or VS code. It was working last night, and I haven't done much except change a dashboard. Even when I reverted to an earlier backup, the add ons arn't working. After googling, I thought maybe my firefox tracking protections might have been the culprit, but even after disabling them for home assistant didn't fix the problem.
my log from studio code server ends with:
[2023-01-29T21:11:47.813Z] info - Authentication is disabled
[2023-01-29T21:11:47.813Z] info - Not serving HTTPS
thanks for any help.
anyone ever had the issue of running addons (green status, logs show that they are running) but their icons stay gray like they are stopped
weird, their color just came back after like 20min of reboot
Has anyone else experienced this issue with MariaDB?
Full backup runs at 4:00 am and recorder does not resume when backup is finished? The Logbook will display new entries as they occur while it as active but it cannot retrieve any historical events since 4:00 am. I can see the DB being locked and released when backup starts/finishes but logbook/history are unable to retrieve events since it was locked. It's as if they are still being queued after the DB is unlocked...
Do I need to re & re MariaDB???

how can i set the mqtt addon to not need auth?
Any reason why?
i am migrating from docker to HAOS and i have a tonne of devices setup with the old one and i dont want to reconfigure them all (i have given the new VM the same IP as the old one)
Was your old MQTT set up using allow_anonymous?
yes but i cant figure out where to put that for the addon
Gotcha, you need to enable customize as described here: https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/blob/master/mosquitto/DOCS.md#access-control-lists-acls
That says it's for ACLs, but that enables the /share/mosquitto dir as an include_dir where you can put additional configs
thanks
is there anything i need to do to be able to ssh into the VM other than install the ssh addon and give it my public key?
where?
you using official or community
Yeah, it has more features but they both allow SSH
Community one lets you disable protection mode and issue docker commands if you need to
ok ill try the community one
ah looks like official maybe is just always root?
For the official, password also needs to be empty if you've got a key set Docs say that, but that's not true, it prefers a key it looks like
ok neither want to let me connect, might be my ssh client, will try on my mac later
ok what sort of file do i need in /share/mosquitto for extra config stuff again?
/root/share != /share
ha, look at that they are linked
You added the customize section to the addon config and restarted?
anything in the log file?
yes
and no
it says it is loading that file
Loading config file /share/mosquitto/mosquitto.conf
should i just go edit this file that it loads 3 messages later? Config loaded from /etc/mosquitto/mosquitto.conf
and apparently dosnt exist
It'll be in the MQTT container
yep, just realised
You may have to do something w/ an acl_file
I'm not terribly familiar with that though to give guidance on it
https://mosquitto.org/man/mosquitto-conf-5.html talks about the acl_file and seemingly if you just have a generic topic readwrite <topic> line, it should apply to anonymous clients
ok, im just gonna use the external mqtt server till i get this sorted
is there a solution for hosti g contacts on home assistant with a addon? carddav?
Hi all, whats the best way to externally connect to HA, Nextcloud and Jellyfin (all installed via HA addons)? I do not want to expose each port and already use DuckDNS and Nginx for HA
Just in case you don't know, the best way, if you ask me, is to use the Nabu Casa subscription. https://www.nabucasa.com
Not opening a port was a requirement for me too, and considering that the subscription solved my problem quickly and allowed me to support HA, that was a win.
I'm curious to hear about DiY solutions. My guess would be a VM hosted on a cloud instance with a reverse proxy to your HA IP, and a set of rules to restrict access to the port on your IP from the cloud instance only.
More info on #cloud-archived
If you're open to purchasing a domain name (not Freenom), I'd suggest taking a look at Cloudflared (https://github.com/brenner-tobias/addon-cloudflared), it's a tunnel from Cloudflare to your instance with the ability to forward to Nginx Proxy Manager or expose additional services in the config itself. No DDNS stuff and no exposing your IP or ports directly.
@jade bay https://porkbun.com/event/freeappdevdomain this works for a free year for a .app or .dev and confirmed working with cloudflare nameservers
no purchase necessary and nameserver change propagated in a few mins
if i have addons that are servers (eg node red) can i access them directly?
If they say you can in their docs
Some offer the opportunity to specify a port, some only support ingress
specifically nodered, yes just hit it at its ip:port
If you gave it a port, the answer is 'yes'
thanks
i prefer to have node red in a dedicated tab, otherwise i keep absentmindedly clicking on another HA tab and loosing changes
actualy, that was with an external server and a custom full screen dashboard loading the webpage, is that still an issue with the addon version?
I've done that more times that I can count with Grafana 😦
ok ill stick to using them in their own tabs
how do you embed Grafana graphs in other dashboards with the addon version?
i was doing it by just using a url embed before but that had some issues with remote access, is there a more intergrated way with the addon?
If you assign it a port, you can access it from anything
ok so still using an iframe card to embed it into other dashboards?
I have Grafana in anonymous auth mode and then I can access it on that port from any device in my house without needing to deal with HA auth
what about external?
i have HA behind nginx but i couldent work out how to use HA auth for Grafana so i have to use the nginx auth and that dosnt work with the app
in a browser i just go to my main nginx page and login but in the app that dosnt work because the cookies dont transfer from the mobile browser to the app
Using the separate port doesn't share auth, but if you go to Grafana from inside HA it uses Ingress to proxy the connection and handle authentication
Your Grafana URL would look something like https://homeassistant.mydomain.com/api/hassio_ingress/
ok
could i proxy a normal url, say https://homeassistant.mydomain.com/nodered to the ingress url so that it uses HA auth for login?
Is the goal to just have Node Red open in a separate tab?
it would make more sense to just proxy another subdomain for it..
You can either set a port to proxy it through something else like nginx and use Node Red's built-in auth, or once you log into HA the https://homeassistant.domain.com/hassio/ingress/a0d7b954_nodered URL will work
yep its the ingress link i need
That URL won't prompt you for login though, it just gives a 401 error if you try to visit it unauthenticated
so i can just use a url rewrite in nginx to change https://homeassistant.domain.com/nodered to https://homeassistant.domain.com/hassio/ingress/a0d7b954_nodered internaly
thats fine, i know that would mean i need to login to HA and im the only one using it
i assume this will also work for grafana graphs if i use the ingress link to embed them?
Yeah. The only quirk you can run into is if your HA session expires then you'll get a 401 on the Ingress link until you refresh the HA page and it renews the session. At least I think that's what was happening to me
at the moment i get this https://imgur.com/a/VfiaFWl if i am not logged into Organizr (what nginx is using for its auth backend) and that means i cant use those graphs for people (like my dad) who have HA logins but dont use Organizr, it also dosnt work in the app
by this i mean im the only one who will be using the servers directly
Can anyone help I can't input to domains field at addon Let's Encrypt
thats a common problem, use yaml instead of visual editor
Anyone has problems with duckdns? seems to be down
That's unfortunately a common occurrence with DuckDNS over the last few months
Can we using our domains instead of đuckns domain
Same issue with duck dns..
Can’t access my HA now 😦
Must have it configured incorrectly as I can only access it via duckdns url on a good day even
And not local ip or homeassistant.local
Would be nice if Duckdns had a network status page at least 🤦🏻♂️
ok just thought i would follow up on the discussion from earlier about proxying the ingress URLs to get a neater url for external access. it sort of works, it breaks down if you try and remove the /api/hassio_ingress from the domain because the cookie that stores the ingress auth is tied to that path. so while you can shrink https://homeassistant.domain.com/api/hassio_ingress/8FB_tIHi0ElfdrghyzbhwOh_KYejUO0uaWBXZby-JEi down to https://homeassistant.domain.com/api/hassio_ingress/nodered, you cant go all the way to https://homeassistant.domain.com/nodered which is what i was aiming for
So what do we jump ship to from duckdns?
That's reverse proxy, yes you can. There's a number of #add-ons-archived which can help you, and guides in the forums.
Seems duckdns is back online? @neat crypt and co
Yes it is, at least for me
@normal elk you connect locally using https://
You would see a warning in your browser which you then advance through
Doesn’t work for me. Maybe my urls are setup incorrectly as both are duckdns for local and remote urls
Anywyas seems duckdns is down again at least for me
Internal and external urls*
never worked for me unfortunately. really don't know why
https://ibb.co/gt3L1ZP heres what it shows me
Ok hold up.. Removed the cert exception and re-added it. Voila
Thanks for the idea
Hello! I hvae problems if i open any add-on it says "401 forbidden" can you help me i cant even open studio code sever! Thank You! Creeper

Hey, I was recently setting up duckdns. But there's something which is blocking me to work it out. My ISP provides 2 public ip's, I want duckdns to access my ip which shows on my router, is it possible to do so
I have configured my router to show ip on ha
I'm trying to get an addon to work and I'm following the readme. Then it says to add a user (I can do that, I've activated advanced mode) but it says to add "mqttBroker" as parameter and "mqtt://" as value? That last part isnt visible when adding user - only name, password admin yse/no.... am I looking at the wrong place?
@neat crypt is your duckdns still up? Can only access via local ip again it seems
"The plugin needs you to configure some settings before working. You find these on the Add-on page after you've installed it." <--- can't see any for the plejd addon. Must be doing something wrong
Hey all I've spent days now and cannot seem to find a way to enable websocket support using the NGINX add-on. Have a Shelly HT Plus and the device connects to HA, but with no entities. Tried with wss and ws, with IP, and hostname. The only thing that seems to connect is ws with hostname. ( NGINX is being used for SSL and that works fine. Based on all my reading web socket support needs to be added to nginx. I can't seem to figure out how to do that using the add-on version though. I think perhaps a custom file of some sort... #add-ons-archived
Shelly device does also show connection from HA when adding. mg_rpc.c:314 Shelly.GetStatus via WS_in 10.X.X.X:48848
Interesting, can I still use this in conjunction with Alexa? I expose most of my things to Alexa via HA
After the latest Mariadb update I am getting ```
Error executing query SELECT table_schema "database", Round(Sum(data_length + index_length) / 1024 / 1024, 1) "value" FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema="homeassistant" GROUP BY table_schema LIMIT 1;: Can't reconnect until invalid transaction is rolled back. (Background on this error at: https://sqlalche.me/e/14/8s2b)
Sure, should be able to, I use mine in front of Google Assistant
Great, cheers mate 🙂 Will give it a go at the weekend
bwah, still no config options for my add-on 😦
if there are supposed to be options, clear your browser cache
Hey there - just starting with HA today ... Can you help me understanding Node-RED? I build an automation - clicked on "deploy" .... should it be active right now?
#node-red-archived can help you
It says in the readme "The plugin needs you to configure some settings before working. You find these on the Add-on page after you've installed it."
thx :)
Nope, didn't work. Can anyone help me out with configuring http://homeassistant.local:8123/hassio/addon/4cb18a39_plejd/info
Does anyone know the details of how motioneye terminal command trigger feature works?

Hi. Just setting up HA after a long hiatus and I’m having a bit of trouble with Dwain’s Find My DD Addon. (https://github.com/LRvdLinden/find_my_dd_addon)
Under “Installation Add-On ⚙️”
Open your more_page.yaml file in dwains-dashboard/configs and add the following;```
But if you go to /dwains-dashboard, no such file as addons exist, never mind more_page?! Anyone else having this issue?
What that calls an addon had nothing to do with HA addons

If you have two public IPs you may be behind a CGNAT, which means you don't have a public IP (presuming you mean your router is telling you a different public IP to what you can see on the internet)
any solution to it?
How do I make the vscode add-on work with the external URL while not connected to the same WiFI?
can we call an entity in add-on conifg
When I scan the WireGuard QR code it says that it's invalid.
Get a better ISP?
They try to conserve IPv4 adresses by bunching you in with other customers to one ip adress and doing some routing on their end before traffic arrives to you. That unfortunatly makes things like fowarding ports and accepting outside connections near impossible, that is for IPv4. You can however use IPv6 as those arent as limited and are used to tunnel the IPv4 to you. You should already have a static IPv6 address or even a whole adressspace assigned to you if you are dualstack/dualstack-lite customer. Therefore you can use IPv6 to connect from the outside (that is if your outside connection is IPv6 capable).
Assuming their isp supports IPv6. A lot still don't
Well its pretty likely they support IPv6 if they are using CGNAT. Because routing the traffic from the CGNAT to the consumer is done using IPv6 in almost all cases as its already implemented commercially available and doesnt require them to adapt a new protocol and works on the existing infrastructure of the ISP/Whole Internet
I can tell you from experience that some carriers use CGNAT but do not have IPv6 exposed externally to port forward or do anything with
In the similar way of how mobile phones work given they use CGNAT and IPv6
Need some help with: https://github.com/icanos/hassio-plejd/blob/master/plejd/README.md it actually installs but says therer's config in the add-on page but can't see anything. Do I need to add something else?
Okay I figured out things and it comes to know that my ISP does not use CGNAT to give me internet. I, still do have to figure out if it gives the IPv6
ok, when I use the ip that router shows me(which keeps changing). Gets me access, but when I use the ip from whatismyipaddress.com , it doesnt work
Hello, I got an issue with the CEC scanner addon :
I use a nuc with the pulse usb CEC

In the bash docker console of Homeassistent it works.
Hey everyone! 🙂
I am running the MariaDB addon as the DB for my recorder. Is there a way to migrate the DB from that addon to a new instance?
it should be part of a full backup
Sorry, my bad. To clarify, I want to run a MariaDB instance outside the HA ecosystem, so not an addon.
I see that there is a mysqldump tool that seems to fit the bill, but I guess I have no console access to the addon?
if you can't use that from within one of the ssh addons, it looks like you can specify a port in the MariaDB addon for external access from somewhere where you can
That seems to work...
Hmmm... It seems I have to stop the DB before exporting it using mysqldump. I get an error warning about corrupt DB when importing it again...
Is there a way for me to stop the DB application inside the container?
Exactly! 😉
if you stop HA, it should be in a quiescent state, right?
it's the HA database, after all
I don't know what it means to "stop" the database
Yeah, maybe... I suppose on a VM you could do systemctl stop mysql or something, but as the addons doesn't expose a console...
But, I can try with HA stopped.
That is a good idea.
yes, just do that. anything else is probably fraught with peril
I feel like I am dangerously close already!
the point is that you care about the data, right?
Precisely!
it's easy for me because I don't care about the data and am fine with blowing away the database if necessary
I have been like that, but I finally have managed to gather a complete set of energy usage statistics for the entire year of 2022. I'd like to keep that streak going... 🙂
Anyone able to help me with this error? it seems like it's related to VSCode but Googling hasn't helped me... https://paste.debian.net/1269366/
Anyone have updated the MariaDB Addon before when Home Assistant is using it?
why?
@viscid orchid Just to let you know that using mysqldump works perfectly! But it seems stopping HA before doing the dump is essential.
Also, restoring the backup file is straight forward even without access to the DB application or console of the container.
Only requirement is that the DB is accessible over your network...
Ok so it seems VSCode works fine when I'm using it locally, but when I'm remote (through Cloudflare) it doesn't work. Where do I start looking for the reason for this?
It is not possible to configure recorder to use sockets to connect to a DB running as an addon, is that correct?
I tried to upgrade it but it kinda just break for some reason
It seems to fix itself tho
So what happened is I press upgrade it just keep updating for over an hour
So I end up restarting HA
And it's Recorder seems to failed after restart (Probably due to unable to connect to database?)
But it seems fine now after another restart tho
Hi everyone, apologies if I post this in the wrong section. I am struggeling with Zigbee2MQTT in combination with the Sonof Dongle 3 Plus V2. I was able to setup everything and also was able to join devices and even create automation. For some reason after a random amount of time. Sometimes days sometimes minutes devices seem to leave the network and do not come back. I have to join them again and after sometime they leave as well. What I recognize is that at the same time when I click on Zigbee2MQTT to check on the devives I am getting an error 502 Bad Gateway. I hope you someone can point me in the right direction
Probably better asked in #zigbee-archived
Sorry
Not at all! 🙂
anyone know how to get full access to add-on logs? I can see recent ones e.g. for appdaemon in the UI but would like to see older ones when a problem hits. Running appdaemon in the HA add-on within HaOS so don't think I can get direct access to files in its container, but might be wrong?
I just enabled the FTP add-on and straight on FTP connects fine but I would also like to enable sftp. When I enable SSL it fails because it says I need to load a certificate. I'm a bit SSL challenged and could use some guidance on getting the proper certificate(s) loaded in the right place. Thanks!
I suggest that you use https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-ssh/blob/main/ssh/DOCS.md for both SSH and SFTP
it has a handy link in the instructions for how to generate the keys
The FTP add-on does FTPS, not SFTP. They're different. FTPS is FTP + SSL, SFTP is a separate protocol that uses SSH
I have Frigate set up with some zones for object detection. Is it possible to get separate entities for each zone? Right now I only seem to have 1 person occupancy entity for the whole camera view.
Looks like I just had to restart home assistant, now they show up
I uninstalled the FTP add-on and the Terminal & SSH add-on and installed the SSH & Web Terminal community add-on that you suggested. I am having some difficulty getting sftp to work with FileZilla Pro on macOS. I installed my public key in the add-on configuration. The doc said that I need to use root as the user then the log warns me that I should not. I don't know the right user that I should put in the configuration and how I am supposed to authenticate from FileZilla Pro. Do you know that right way to do this? Thanks!
Note: Due to limitations, you will need to set this option to root in order to be able to enable the SFTP capabilities.
So you have to use root for it
Do I also need to set a password in the configuration if I also set a authorized key? Then do I use my private key in FileZilla to connect?
Just use a key, no need for a password
Got it working! I was using the wrong private key file on the client side. Appreciate your help!
Is it advisable to set Auto Update to On for community Add Ons?
@late tide generally not a good idea to auto update anything, but it's up to you
Hey. How do you put server monitoring on your overview? Are there any addons that I can put in a card to show CPU, RAM, storage etc with?
Add-ons don't have cards, you're looking for an #integrations-archived that can provide sensors to add to a card
OK, thanx!

have a question about the raspberry pi remote io integration and how to do something
Raspberry Pi Remote GPIO
The rpi_gpio integration is the base for all related GPIO platforms in Home Assistant. For the platform configurations, please check their corresponding sections.
The remote Raspberry Pi and the control computer where Home Assistant is running must be prepared to run remote_rpi_gpio, see details here.
Note that for virtual environments you may need to set an environment variable when starting the environment to set the pin factory, example:
Environment = GPIOZERO_PIN_FACTORY=pigpio PIGPIO_ADDR=YOUR_RPi_IP_ADDRESS
where do i put the enviorment part do i do that on the pi or do i do that on home assistant
does anyone know where i put that in the code?
Posting the same question in multiple channels won't help, especially when it's the wrong channel. You said right in the question that it's an integration, so just wait for somebody to answer in #integrations-archived
hello, is there anyone that can help me to install File Editor?
Where are you stuck?
Hi, i would like to know where i need to put a download package on home assistant and they can bee see on integration to add it ?
@floral quail is it related to any #add-ons-archived ?
Or is it #integrations-archived ?
I think is a add on ! Vaccum card
That's neither...you probably want #frontend-archived
thanks and sorry !
Hi all, recent HA fan here aka newbie 😉 I have HA running on a rsp4b and now bought a Conbee II hoping to integrate some aqara devices. However I'm confused/stuck and need some help.
I have tried to integrate two devices (a multisensor and motionsensor), both show up in the deCONZ app that I open from the add-on. However I don't get any notifications in HA. During startup I get two error messages:
- Couldn't start application 17:40:14 – (ERROR) /usr/local/lib/python3.10/site-packages/zigpy/application.py - message first occurred at 17:40:02 and shows up 3 times
- Error setting up entry ConBee II for zha 17:40:14 – (ERROR) components/zha/core/gateway.py
Any hints?

Not sure this is the correct chat to ask this but it does involve the Homeassistant & the ‘Enviro Indoor’ pi Pico w from Pimoroni.
I have the board running fine & currently loading data to io.adafruit.
But
I have installed influxDB in my instance of HomeAssistant.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the data from the enviro to upload to this instead?
I know this is a bit of a broad question 🙏🏻

Does anyone know how to monitor a cyber power cp1500 upc with the nut add on? It asks for the “host” which I believe should be an ip address, but the upc doesn’t connect to wifi to my knowledge? Any help would be amazing
What asks for host?
The integration?
The UPS devices themselves need to be configured in the addon config: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-nut/blob/main/nut/DOCS.md#option-devices
Then, when you add the NUT integration to HA the host is a0d7b954-nut
Yeah the integration. I typed in the host you put and everything popped up right away! Thank you
👍 you're welcome
Where's the right place to post questions about the ESPHome Add-on? 🙂
if your question is about ESPHome itself: https://discord.gg/eHrVQJK4
Well, I'm not sure whether it's an ESPHome issue, or a problem with the HA integration!
I'll try over there, and come on back if I need to, thanks. 😄
Where is the config for the add-ons stored in Home Assistant OS?
I know in the add-on there's a copy of it at /data/options.json, which I found at /mnt/data/supervisor/addons/data/*/, and there seems to be a combined copy of all of them (plus a little more) at /mnt/data/supervisor/addons.json, but none of that is what I'm looking for.
I want to keep a git history of my config files, without the secrets, but options.json & addons.json are both generated after "!secret foobar" is resolved. Surely there's a .yaml file somewhere from before that though
Hey everyone, I'm trying to install / run influxDb addon, but whenever I press the start button, it doesn't do anything. It doesn't seem like it's recognizing the addon state properly. Here are the logs:

I have tried rebooting pi, stopping and restarting mosquitto broker, stopping and restarting HA, both HA and VM it's running on, changing pi IP, and restoring to yesterday's backup. Can someone direct me to some expertise? Thanks for your help!
hey,
had aguard running for weeks in rasp3b+ and worked fine. Since last week i cant bring it back up.
If i start the addon, it suddenly dies adter starting and just stops everything. Only if i reinstall the addon, its gonna start up, but after restarting it, it doesnt start again.

hey is there any way to put a smb share in a plex addon?
Good evening. Is anyone running The Lounge IRC client? I have a question about "Users", since I can't seem to add anything in that required field.
can i somehow disable apparmor for an addon i trust?
Hi all, how would I go about deleting a /var/lib/influxdb/data/_internal inside the influxdb addon container?
I've come across a solution to a shard corruption problem inside the database that recommends just this, but I am completely out of my depth here: https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb/issues/9596
The addon is currently failing to boot, so I cannot just backup the database and restore it in to a newly installed influx add-on unfortunately so this is my best bet.
If not I have to go back 4 days of data, which is why I am still trying not to do that.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Conversely, is there any way to prevent the influxdb container from stopping on its own in case of the a failure to lunch?
I could then bash into it and remove the folder or better yet backup the specific DB.
maybe a dumb question: does anyone know of a version of tuya-convert that can run as a home-assistant addon?
i can’t run tuya-convert on my mac, and my only non-mac device is my raspberry pi running home-assistant
rip, got it working in a vm but looks like all my old devices are on patched firmware
@quaint copper a VM is good. I used to have a Tuya convert SD card I would swap out to flash devices, then swap back to my HA SD card back in the day
Is there anyone that can help me get influxdb running? When I start it initially, the addon state isn't captured and the start button remains a start button
yeah bummer that they’re all no longer vulnerable… not sure if i’d rather run a tuya addon for them or learn how to flash them over usb
Hello. Tried to update mqtt today and apparently 1024-bit keys aren't secure enough anymore (openssl security_level=2) and the daemon won't start. ESP8266 barely work with 1024, so longer is not an option, and the worst legacy nodes I have are pinned to this cert as well, so I need to find each of them and move them to port 1883 instead..
Is there a way to set the security_level of the mqtt addon down so I can stand up my current 1024-bit key while I find and fix all the nodes that will not cope with things changing?
Hi! Anyone here to help with high CPU usage for InfluxDB? I have no idea how to debug or fix it
Hi, I'd love to get some help setting up automated backups to dropbox. I've been following this explanation https://maartendamen.com/how-do-i-back-up-home-assistant/ but when I press start, the service flashes on and directly back off again. I've tried to set up the automation anyway, and it runs but no files end up in dropbox. Any input?
Just moved my installation from a Windows server running HAOS in VirtualBox VM to a Truenas Scale running VM HAOS. Imported backup, everything seems to work perfect except zigbee2mqtt that shows me a 502: Bad Gateway when trying to access web UI. Any ideas ? (I run zigbee2mqtt as an addon)
The only thing in the log I can find is and that doesn't really tell me a lot 🙂
error 2023-02-05 14:37:03: Failed to call 'Frontend' 'stop' (TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'clients') at Frontend.stop (/app/lib/extension/frontend.ts:83:39) at Controller.callExtensions (/app/lib/controller.ts:316:40) at Controller.stop (/app/lib/controller.ts:193:9) at stop (/app/index.js:111:5) at process.handleQuit (/app/index.js:117:9))
Hello knowledgeable people 🙂
I have a question about DHCP on HA.
Can it provide DHCP services for several different subnets over different LAN interfaces?
I am aware HA is not a DHCP server, I was thinking more about the DHCP addon, or the DHCP module in the AdGuard addon.
I know this is a very niche use-case..
According to the docs, it appears that technically you can... https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/blob/master/dhcp_server/DOCS.md
Thanks once again, @bitter skiff
I need some help, i'm the creator of the DSMR Reader addon: https://github.com/sanderdw/hassio-addons/tree/master/dsmr_reader. Suddenly i can't create new versions as Supervisor complaining about the image missing:
"
Failed to install add-on
Can't install sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-aarch64:1.9.5: 404 Client Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.41/images/sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-aarch64:1.9.5/json: Not Found ("no such image: sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-aarch64:1.9.5: No such image: sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-aarch64:1.9.5")
"
But images are created correctly and uploaded to Docker hub just fine: https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-aarch64/general
Anybody an idea? Strange this is it worked for a long time, also the current version in master is still working.
Might be worth cloning the repo again?
or pulling. not sure of the lingo
What do you mean by that? What ive tried to debug is creating a branch of master and only change the version number. But even then then it fails to pull.
You sure you've got enough free disk space on wherever you're pulling?
You could try docker pull sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-aarch64:1.9.5 to see if that gives you a better error
I think NSX says it best here. It did sound like there was a problem with your download of that file.
tried on 3 different HA instances but i will check the manuall pull indeed
"no matching manifest for linux/arm64/v8" in the manifest list entries"
Weird, no issue for me on that image, works fine
How can i check if the manifest is complete?
https://hub.docker.com/layers/sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-aarch64/1.9.5/images/sha256-01c3caab5d85a7cdbea02d9fc3e7f169ab25ac5760664560af3945181bed9a99?context=repo
If you copy the dsmr_reader folder from this branch: https://github.com/sanderdw/hassio-addons/tree/dsmrreader-1.9.5 into \hassioinstance\addons you should get the error (i only have a raspberry and odroid n2 model so it's only fetching aarch64 for me).
Not sure if a amd64 system works
Does docker pull sanderdw/ha-dsmr-reader-amd64:1.9.5 result in the same issue?
EDIT: Don't know as that's the amd64 variant, it pulls fine on a generic docker machine though (WSL)
Does the aarch64 pull fine on that machine?
Yes
You try restarting the host (or at least the supervisor)? Seems odd.... wonder if there's any level of caching of the responses that come back from hub
will do
Same error, but even then it should work on at least one machine 😦
But to be sure, can anybody pull the 1.9.5 tag directly on a aarch64 machine?
@sullen night I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
"Architecture": "unknown",
"Os": "unknown",
"Variant": "",
while on the 1.9.0 it's:
"Architecture": "arm64",
"Os": "linux",
"Variant": "v8",
so found 'why' but still no idea why the exact same image build today is suffering from this issue
hi, running mariadb as an add-on and now I see in my logs that it is out of disk space. but my HA instance reports 50% of free space. Where do I look to find out more?
oh never mind, not using the add-on database but an external one. apologies!
I'm running Z2M 1.30.0-1 . I just tried restarting from a totally fresh HA with no backup installed. Same issue.
According to documentation for zigbee2mqtt as add-on it states that if I am using MQTT broker add-on I should not fill out anything in the mqtt field
I just tried to log in to Ngnix Proxy Manager for the first time in a while and I must have changed my password and not saved it in my password manager at some point. Is it possible to reset the password or do I need to reset the database?
https://github.com/NginxProxyManager/nginx-proxy-manager/issues/230#issuecomment-550565639 there's one possible solution w/o a full reset
I'll look into this now, thanks
what would cause me to not be able to start my addons? i installed file editor i hit start it doesnt start. i did a restart and same thinbg
If you go to log... anything interesting?
Otherwise, did you happen to do a restore? Have you tried rebooting the entire host (not just a dev tools restart)?
i did have to do a restore
Yeah, something is up w/ add-ons after restoring, you've got to restart the whole host (either the RPi or the VM, etc)
ok can i do that from the browser or no?
Settings->System->Hardware->
->Reboot System
thanks ya i was restarting just the dev tools i guess
Yeah, that only restarts the Core of HA
fixed ity thank you
so i'm reading over some of the posts on that thread about resetting the password for NPM, but since I'm still new to MariaDB, I'm not even sure how to connect to it first
The easiest if you're not familiar w/ other clients is probably to use the phpMyAdmin addon to connect to the actual DB
I'll start there then. Installing that addon now.
That addon just made my life a whole lot easier, thanks!
I was dreading having to reset NPM, but that just took all of 5 minutes to figure out after installing phpMyAdmin
Nice, glad that worked
I'd definitely like to start digging into MariaDB a bit now though
if i used nginx and duckdns and can access HA remotely now should that work for the app on my iphoine or browser only?
Should work for both
Are you using the external ip?
i was using my duckdns.org domain with the port at the end for the browser and my app is just blank black screen with a settings button
got it
i didnt realize i had to enter the url in the app as well for external
Welp there ya got
if i change the port from 8123 to 443 and then use canyouseeme.com and it cant that must mean my isp blocks it ya?
You can't just use ssl like that, try using port 80 instead and try going to it
Hi, whats the best way to delete the MariaDB database? My database is over 4GB - I've put my purge days down to 120(it was 400) but it hasnt changed the size
still couldnt see it, trying to add my google speaker just says something went wrong
If advise you setup nginz proxy manager
i had that installed and there was no difference. i used my 30 days of nabu and am hoping freenom will come back by then so i can use cloudflare method or im going to try and find a semi decent priced router on marketplace
i'd advise you to not use freenom, its not reliable at all
get a cheap domain name
i was just trying to avoid the .99 for year 1 and then 20-30 after unless im looking at the wrong sites
It'll show you the prices for every year. Don't buy cheap, buy smart. Spend a little more this year and the same every year
@proud cipher FYI, Freenom won't work w/ Cloudflare
There's plenty of domains < $10/yr
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXAwT9N-7Hw&t=395s well this video says it does and ive been told by many to use this and it works.... so i dunno also im using the trial for now and will deal with it after the month. regardless of what i use i cant do port forwarding properly on my router and i want my alexa and google incorporated
so new router needs to happen first and foremost
maybe cuz the site is down right now? i dunno i was literally told on a facebook group by multiple people to use that as they currently have it working
Maybe so... seems not worth a headache to save $10/yr though if that's true?
well when your scraping by 10 a year right now is alot unfortunately hence why im not in a rush to get the router or pay for a domain
What's wrong w/ your current router if you want to go the port forward route
the port forwarding is done through an app they literally ask me the device (i pick ha) then the port (i put 8123) but then i cant set it up to use port 443 to 8123 as well to incorporate google/alexa device. the interface is terrible i can pm you a picture if you want to se it since i cant upload a pic
You can upload to imgur or another sharing site and paste the link
You're saying they only let you forward the port number you specify to the same port on the internal device?
What router is it
what's the next step in that sequence
You hit next and then that’s it your port is set up
So I had set it to 8123 and I could remote access, then I tried adding google but it didn’t work cuz the 443 couldn’t be set up
You said you had Nginx Proxy Manager installed?
The retail is concerning though... need to watch out for "Hey, 90% off", then it's $30/yr after that
.98 to 2.88 or 1.78...
Ehh... Is that namecheap? It still seems misleading, I don't know how long the special is, but... https://www.namecheap.com/domains/registration/gtld/store/
yeah, i don't know if it's an agreement for more than a year
I did I had duckdns and nginx and had remote access that way
With NGinx presenting an SSL cert? or no
Would that be using https as address? Sorry I’m very new to all of this as well
Yeah
Ya that worked and I was able to go to a browser use https:// .duckdns.org:8123 and that worked and if I went to canyouseeme .com it saw it
Did you try that w/ Alexa/Google? They may not love the port at the end, not sure
You can configure the port Nginx listens on though
I did with google and it didn’t like it, didn’t try Alexa cuz apparently that one is even more challenging then google lol
Was there an error associated with it?
It was like when you see the page a connection can’t be established
Hmm, if you can get the details, that'd help
Just looking at the docs here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_assistant/#google-cloud-platform-configuration it seems to suggest that a port is possible
So your prior set up may work
i can try again tonight and see, ill just disable the nabu casa access i have would be nice to figure it out before its up lol. ill @ you the error i get and see what you think. I followed everything smart homes video which looks just like the steps in this document but i wonder if maybe he changed 1 or 2 things for his setup? ill give it a go and post back later thanks
Could be... the Google Assistant set up is a bit tedious too
But make sure you get SSL external access working before you screw around w/ that
oh is that seperate from this doc?
No, all the google assistant stuff is here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_assistant/#manual-setup, but the Nginx and stuff needs to be solid first
and ya if ssl is just having an address of https then i forsure had that working
i appreciate all your info/advice/suggestions and help lol ill give it a go again tonight if i can stay awake after work lol. was up until 4am the last 2 nights trying to get it working lol
Bit by bit 😉
When using cloudflare addon for tunnels what security measures should I take, apart from 2fa, strong password and this generic things
I'd suggest blocking countries you don't expect traffic from
I already made that, I made a waf rule to block everyone country except mine
also made https only access
and strict encryption option from cloudflare
not sure if that would be enough
That's all I do as well
nice I hope that makes my HA instance secure, thanks for your help 😄
Hi, I have a issue with configuring my Let's encrypt addon. I try to fill the Domains field but then when I click to the other field to fill (e-mail), my input disappear. It actually look like drop down, but it's empty. How do I fill it?
Also tried the edit in yaml option but when saving, it fails
And same issue is with duckdns addon
I think that's one where you need to do it in YAML
what's it fail w/ when you do it that way
It says something like "Saving addon configuration failed, invalid list for option 'domains' in Let's Encrypt (core_letsencrypt). Got {'domains': 'xxx.duckdns.org', ..."
Ok I found it, it works if you input the domain in brackets in yaml [xxx.duckdns.org]
I recently installed Loki and Promtail to help manage my logs. I can query the logs in Grafana, this is an excellent solution. My objective is to receive a notification if I get an error in my Node Red logs. I’m going through Loki rules, just curious if anyone has been able to get this to work yet? I suspect the rule will have to call a web hook. I’m running HAOS so my options to access the Docker logs are limited but I feel like I am heading in the right direction.
Hi , did anyone run in to problems because groups ids in addons do not macht with homeassistant OS?
homeassistant OS is built using https://buildroot.org, GID for dialout here is 18.
addons use images based on alpine linux ,GID for dialout here ist 20 (gid 18 is audio)
I think base images for addons should use the same GID as homeassistant OS does (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/home-assistant/buildroot/master/system/skeleton/etc/group)
I have installed home assistant on ubuntu through docker, but I can not install any add-on as the tab dedicated to them is missing. How do I fix it?
I'm using Visual Studio Code Server add-on to edit my yaml files. I just start experimenting with !includes to clean up my main configuration files. Here is a snippet from configuration.yaml
#########################################
# Crestron Integration
#########################################
crestron:
port: 16384
light: !include crestron-lights.yaml
climate: !include crestron-climate.yaml
What I have found is that when I Save one of the include files, crestron-lights.yaml for example, VS Code removes the leading spaces on each line. I thought that would break the yaml but it does not. Just an FYI. No question here.
You don't... if you have a container install, there are no add-ons. You can most likely get any add-on software you want to use and set it up within Docker yourself
Not possible. Addons are docker container loaded by the home assistant OS. Since you run already on Docker you can't run a container in a container. See https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/:
- Home Assistant Operating System: Minimal Operating System optimized to power Home Assistant. It comes with Supervisor to manage Home Assistant Core and Add-ons. Recommended installation method.
- Home Assistant Container: Standalone container-based installation of Home Assistant Core (e.g. Docker).
You are on the second option without addons.
I'm editing my yaml file for the first time ever using the studio code server. I'm watching a youtube video and he has spaces after the ":". When I do that, I get an error. Should there be a space after or not? Elsewhere in the default file it seems like there is a space.
Yeah, like between keys and values? service: lock.lock not service:lock.lock
Yep, I gave up on the studio code server and I'm trying the file editor add-on now. That worked fine. The studio code server kept doing a weird thing also where it would merge two lines together when I hit save, which was messing up the file.
I'm sure it is way too advanced and I'm just using it wrong
Hmmm, it really isn't all too advanced for YAML. It's got schema validation, which is nice to see when you screw things up
It shouldn't be doing much else to mess things up
If your indentation was messed up, or you were missing spaces, it could collapse those lines
whitespace is significant in YAML
Oh I'm sure it works great and I'm just the idiot.
File editor might not automatically merge lines.... but if Code was doing it, it's basically the same way it'd be interpreted one way or the other
It was taking these two lines:
influxdb:
host: 192.168.50.5
and merging them into one.
Then when I went to check on the "check configuration", it would error.
If that's how you had it, w/ host indented by 2 spaces.... that seems fine, shouldn't have reformatted it
No, it had no space because when I added a space, it would error.
error w/ what
Hmm, I can try again in a min. I'm trying the influxdb/grafana install and unlike the youtubers, I need to reboot my system every time to get the services to start. not sure why
When you change the configuration.yaml, you'll have to restart
No, I understand that. I'm talking about installing the addon. Click install, then click start. When I click start, it never starts.
I did that the first time I had a problem with influxdb...I didn't see anything stand out. It just refused to start. But when I rebooted, it was fine. Same thing just happened again with grafana.
A reboot shouldn't be required to install an addon
I don't know. But I am positive it wouldn't start otherwise.
Just tested it on a random Add-on:Chrony
Clicked install. Waited for it to install. Clicked start and nothing
log file?
Hold on, I'll do it again
looks started to me
it isn't
You said you've rebooted your hardware multiple times at this point? Not just HA Core?
Correct, I think I had to reboot the hardware to get it to work.
Odd, I know people have had issues where they'd restore from a backup and it'd appear that addons weren't started, but a full reboot would solve that problem then going forward
This is a restore from full backup as of a few hours ago but these are new addons for me.
I have an odd ball situation right now where I got distracted and lost where I was in the install process. I see Graphana in the side bar but when I go to the addon page, it isn't listed.
When you click it in the side bar... does it load
It seems to (I don't know what it is supposed to look like). But when I hunt down the add on in the store, it doesn't have the bar above it indicated it is installed and when I click on it, it says it is turned off.
Hmm, really seems like the supervisor is confused some how.... just for fun, have you tried fully powering off the hardware and then turning it back on. I don't really expect a different result, but that's an odd mismatch
I can try that. It is under Proxmox.
Gotcha, yeah just try shutting down the VM and bring it back up
I just finished a migration from hyperv to proxmox. It was too easy.....
One thing I like about hyperv is that it has a power off command. An actual pull the plug and not wait for the guest.
No, I've already run into that yesterday where stop didn't work
It hung when I was playing around with a different install.
Uh oh, I'm in safe mode....this is a new one
Did you mess up your configuration.yaml? 🙃
No idea. Time to nuke and restore from the backup.
After the restore completes, give it the old power down and boot up again 🙂
Will do
Hmmm....I don't like this restore...it shows the addons I installed since I did that backup
I thought it would take me back completely
same backup file?
yep
Luckily I had 2 brain cells floating around and did a snapshot right after the first restore
No
don't do that
not supported
https://github.com/alexbelgium/hassio-addons there's a bunch here
Portainer will make your system unsupported, if that's what you're asking
Hi every one,
Do you known if the Tailscale add-on will be updated ?
I have read that before version 1.32 (of Tailscale) it could have a potential security issue.
The latest Tailscale is 1.36 (on their web site).
Actually, the add-on report a version 1.26.
Thanks for your answers.
eventually
👍 good news, thanks.
Did you manage to figure it out? I have not done this before but I have dome similar alerts with Loki and Grafana.
@void prawn I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
What does it do and/or log?
This is more than just a list organizer, but worth a look possibly: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-bookstack
anyone familiar with the owntone add on here?
Dear InfluxDB user, did you make any adjustment in the precision parameter for your DB? It's indicated as a good step to make the database a bit more managable.
Are you running the default nanosecond timestamps or have you made any changes?
As per documentation
precision string (optional, default: ns) Set this to specify the time precision sent to influxdb. Setting a coarser precision allows InfluxDb to compress your data better. If not set, defaults to ns.
Please ping when responding - thank you!!
Has anyone got an external hosted InfluxDB Version 2 system to work with Homeassistant?
I can not seem to get it to connect to anything but the Influx Cloud Hosted instances even though config has another server.
From what I can see most have Influx on local LAN on 8086 without TLS.
Any idea if Traccar add-on might be updated to 5.6? Currently at 5.0
Love this add-on!
someday
any duino coin avr miner?
Hello there. Anyone here had any troubles with the latest version of MariaDB?
I added the data on a GitHub issue (https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/87762#issuecomment-1424710065) but just wanted to ask if anyone here has been experiencing it?
Searching around, but I can't seem to find anything. I can't find anywhere to register device for the Google Assistant SDK add-on that lets you use your HA device effectively as a Google speaker. The instructions are now out of date; thanks google for changing this constantly. They've overly-wizardified the actions console. Is there somewhere I should be looking differently in there now?
Does anyone here run influxDb? I'm having trouble getting the addon to load at all. When clicking the start button for the first time, there are some logs for it starting but it never completes. Last thing is "waiting for nginx to start"
Running the last january version of HA
Can anyone help?
share your logs
@bitter skiff , thank you! I'm reinstalling so I can get fresh logs
Ok, so clicking "Start" causes a spinner on the button, and when it goes off, it still says "Start"

Have you done a restore recently
I've heard of a couple other people saying their systems won't show add-ons as running until they do a full reboot (Restarting the entire Pi not just HA).
I'm not sure why... I don't see that behavior (I don't have a Pi though, either)
May try giving the Pi itself a reboot and see if you see it indicate as started then
I've rebooted several times, I don't think I've restarted the entire PI
Ok, I'll do that now. Is the suggested way just cutting power to the PI and plugging it back in? Or is there a better way
Settings->System->Hardware->
-> Reboot System
Not advisable to pull power, as that can cause data corruption
🥳 Glad to hear
After upgrading to the latest version of HA + MariaDB, all my data is gone + it's stuck in this mode. Any suggestions on how to get it to work again?
Has anyone figured out a way for us to update our local Tailscale Add-on to a version without CVE's yet?
https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-tailscale/pull/133 appears very quiet. The add-on seems stuck on a 9 month old version, which doesn't feel very safe for security focussed software like Tailscale.
How can I restart an addon from the cli?
Can't seem to get usage using ha addons --help or anything
Hi Guy's, i have MariaDB running on my Synology nas. Is there a way to migrate back to the Maria DB addon in Home Assistant. i just want to keep my energy data. I have already MariaDB running for Nginx Proxy addon.
Just export your db from your nas to a file and import it again into your new db
When I import I got an error: 413 Request Entity Too Large
Export file is 1.2 Gig
Not sure what you use to export/import. You can also use a MySQL client like HeidiSQL
I used phpmyadmin for the export
It's probably a web server limit you're hitting while uploading
Is that a limit from phpmyadmin?
No. It's how the web server serving it is configured. I'd import via a client, otherwise you probably have to mess with its configs
Oke thanx, I'll try that.
Sorry about the confusion you can probably discard that last part. Have a look here: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-phpmyadmin/blob/main/phpmyadmin/DOCS.md#option-upload_limit
Hi @supple grove No man it's working now. importing as we speak with HeidiSQL. Thanx for your help!!
Using the MQTT Ring add on for an alarm is there anyway to make it require a pin to disarm?
Here is the pastebin link of my error log
Not played w/ AppDaemon; however, you may try changing that line to self.door_timer_library[entity] = self.run_in(self.notifier, int(self.args['ttl']), seconds=int(self.args['ttl']), entity_name=entity)
I am getting a number of errors. I think the old 2017 code might have been incorrect?? I will paste a pastebin link to the full set of errors. It looks like I have some syntax cleanup to do as well.
I agree that that code you had doesn't appear to have ever matched even an old version of what AppDaemon would expect
If you know of a better .py and .yaml set of code to send a notification out to my cell when a door is left open too long I am more than happy to delete this and paste over with better code.
It looks like maybe you did something to the line after if new == 'on': ?
That line should read what I pasted
(I don't know of a better app, but that's because I've not used AppDaemon before 🙂 )
Alerts can be done more easily through standard HA automations
Whatever that code did it partially fixed my problem. I am now getting notificiations!! However, I'm getting notifications for EVERY entity that is open for longer than 10 seconds. lol!!
as in not just the front door and garage entry, but others?
Nope. . . I'm getting it for the roku remote, the t9 motion sensor, the browser dark mode, etc.
I just restarted AppDaemon and will see if that fixes it. If not, I will do an entire system reboot
Question. Using Code Server. Is this something in the Docker Container It's asking me to fix or in HA? Unable to watch for file changes in this large workspace folder. Please follow the instructions link to resolve this issue.
I'd flip self.listen_state(self.tracker, entity=door) to self.listen_state(self.tracker, door), see if that fixes it
BUT. . . .I'm not getting errors in the error log so that is good news.
Is there any way to install minecraft server on a HA installation? I run HA on a way to big machine, so plenty of resources for wife and kids server. Or, an add-on for OpenJDK or Java?
You are better off asking how to put HA in a VM and have other VM's for other applications.
Eureka!!!!! fixed and working like a charm!
🥳 Awesome
Any idea why I might not be getting anything logged to my doornotifications.log?
Well, there's only one log statement in the app, and that's about trying to cancel a non-existent timer
If everything is working as expected, there are no log statements
I see. so the code in the .yaml files won't cause it to log anything at all?
Here is my yaml code for the log issue: https://pastebin.com/9stdygzj
I see now. . . I just looked at my lights_automations.py and I see where it has logs defined and why I get logs for more events there than I am getting with the door notifications.
I don't need a ton of logs to know when something worked so I will leave it as-is! Thank you so much for your assistance on this one!! You are a life saver!! Now I can add more entities as I add door sensors and be all set. . . though, I do have one last quick, easy question on that. How do I add the additional entities to my yaml?? I know and see where to assign them correctly in the .py file so I am good there. It is in the apps.yaml that I am a bit fuzzy on.
Hi! I have a third-party add-on that crashes at boot, and crashes so bad that I can't even access the supervisor panel to fix it. The observer says:
Supervisor: Connected
Supported: Unsupported
Healthy: Unhealthy
Is there a way to fix this through ssh on the command line?
As in you want to add more entities to monitor for your door notifications app... or something else
I want to add entities to monitor for my door notifications app; as in another door. I have one already listed in the door_notifications.py code. . . .but how do I reference it in the apps.yaml file?
the apps.yaml is listed at this link at the top: https://pastebin.com/9stdygzj
Also, do you have a buymeacoffee link?
Nah, I don't, all good.
You could change that entity_id to something like
entity_ids:
- binary_sensor.garage_entry_door
- binary_sensor.other_door
and update line 8 to fetch from the config https://pastebin.com/XBJpHS7z
Then, you'll have to list everything you want to listen to in the YAML
Oops that still has the error in line 12
have to nuke the entity=
I just copied line 8 to a notepad++ file and then duplicated the other code and pasted the new line 8 over the top. Now I have both versions saved and can potentially rename one and use both side-by-side to control a certain number of entities with one set time under 'ttl' and another entity or entities under a different set time under 'ttl'.
Sure... you could also add a default TTL and make it different based on each entity.... obviously more config and code updates needed to do that
As you can tell I know enough coding to get me in trouble!! I can't thank you enough for the help!!!
You bet, glad it's working!
I do not, not something I've used yet
It's awesome, but I'm having issues with the css communicating correctly with my button to change floors. . . .I'll get it at some point. Thanks again!!!
hello, im new here and new to using Home assistant. i ran into a new problem today where File editor will not start. It was working fine until i tried to install Studio Code Server and it would not start. I have uninstalled both add-ons and reinstalled File Editor as well as reloading a backup from earlier today and it still will not start. Can anyone please help?
Does it error? Could you share the log file
I do not see any errors
If you click Log at the top, could you share that
How are you running HA? VM? Desktop/Laptop? Pi?
Could you paste them in somewhere like pastebin.com and share the link, I'd rather not download files 🙂
Hmm seems fine... and so when you click start.... does it spin and just go back to saying start on the addon page?
it just does nothing
no spinning or anything, almost like i didnt even click it
but get this when i try to open it
File editor
Add-on is not running. Please start it first
Could you try rebooting the entire device. The PC itself, not just Dev Tools-> Restart. You can do that by going to Settings->System->Hardware->
->Reboot System
I have an error file for the door notification for the multiple entities. It is here when you have a moment: https://pastebin.com/7pU1quSt
yes trying now
Oops
def to_list(self, x):
return x if type(x) is list else [x]
Add that function to your file
I had issues with both file editor and sudio code server when I switched from a raspberry pi to the Odroid N2+. I had to reinstall EVERY back up in order to get them to work. . . but that fixed it for me.
i hope i dont have to go back further than today and especially yesterday, Might as well just start a fresh install
thing is, neither of those really need backups. File editor? What's there to save
Install as new and have the same thing
Hoping the restart does it for you.... I'm not sure what's up, but there's been quite a few people lately that install an add-on and then supervisor seems to go haywire thinking nothing is started, even though things are starting fine.
looks like the reboot gor it back up and running for now. Thank you @bitter skiff
Rebooting gets everything starting as it should
of course it was that simple! lol
Restarting HA only restarts ha
But you shouldn't need a restart to get an addon started, but that always seems to be the fix here
So the supervisor and add-ons have the same miscommunication going on
the old "is it plugged in? try unplugging it" debugging step
updated error log: https://pastebin.com/7pU1quSt
Make the whitespace match in the new function, Python (like YAML) is very particular about whitespace
Type (tab/space) and amount
ok next question, is there a better editor than file editor, Im having issues with indenting on everthing hanging when i copy and paste code
also it would be nice if the file tree stayed up on the left
I think I fixed it.
Code is definitely more robust.... you need the resources for it to work well though. I wouldn't go less than 4 GB RAM w/ it
Otherwise, you can install Samba and edit it remotely, too
i have samba, but how to i access it from windows? i only saw a tutorial for mac
Just like any file share \\homeassistant.local , or use it's IP
I saw where it said that and the code even showed the arrows for tab usage. I just pasted your code into the notepad++ before copying the entire thing over to make sure I had spacing correct. . . .now I know what to keep an eye out for 🙂
Do you mean how to access it from file explorer?
yes
as in do I connect on RDP, set it up as a network drive? i havent been able to get either to work
It'd be a network location, not RDP. If you want to map a drive, you'll need to specify a specific share, most likely \\<yourHAip>\config
and then the credentials you configured
Also make sure the client you're using to access HA is within the allowed hosts networks
That is what i needed... thanks again
HELP! Restore from backup caused both Studio Code Server and File Editor to fail!
To undo a failure with a Home Assistant core upgrade (reported in a separate post) I reverted to a full backup I had made a month earlier. That fixed the problem but now neither Studio Code Server nor File Editor work. They both say that the add-on is not running and needs to start. I press the start button but nothing happens.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. That did not help and in the File Editor case removed it from the sidebar as well.
I tried different backups (in which I know at least Studio Code Server was working) but that did not help.
So, I have no way of editing files in a week when I was planning to do a lot  I need to fix this urgently!
Any ideas?
It is a HASSIO installation.
@bitter skiff I now have 3 different python programs to notify my of certain doors being open after a set amount of time and they send me a different message based on my set time. . . thank you so much for the help!!!!
🎉 Awesome, glad to hear it, you're welcome
One last question. If I want to change seconds to minutes do I simply change the one place seconds shows in the python code to minutes and then change my number in 'ttl' accordingly? I obviously have to change the wording in the message that gets sent out as well.
This line would need to be self.door_timer_library[entity] = self.run_in(self.notifier, int(self.args['ttl'])*60, entity_name=entity)
That second argument is in seconds, so if your input is minutes, you'll need to convert it
Would this be the spot to ask a question about Zigbee2MQTT?
#zigbee-archived is the best spot for that
Dope thanks
Hi all. I have Mosquitto broker running and Frigate installed. When I start Frigate, I get a bunch of errors that say, "ERROR : Unable to connect to MQTT server: MQTT Not authorized". However, I can still see the stream in the Frigate web UI. Does this make sense?
Ok. . . .so I can then put a '2' in for 'ttl' in the yaml file, correct?
for 2 minutes, yes
Or is it just running Frigate without the use of MQTT?
Sounds like this. Frigate doesn't have permission to connect to MQTT
Done! Now on to test! No error logs, though so we should be good!
Will this be a persistent notification? What I mean is as long as something is open longer than 2 minutes will it continue to notify me or will it only fire once?
Looks like once
Good! That's what I want. I don't need to be reminded repeatedly. I can set that up via another .yaml configuration
I have the Tailscale add-on running on my HA Blue and can access HA via my android phone Tailscale and HA apps. I would also like to access HA via my Windows10 laptop while traveling. I installed and can access Tailscale on the laptop but all I have found so far is how to install HA on Windows10 instead of just the HA app so I can use it with Tailscale as I do on my android phone.
Does anyone have information or a link that tells me how to remotely access my home HA instance via Tailscale on my Windows10 laptop?
There's not an actual app for your desktop, you'd just access it through the Web UI as you'd normally
Does that work outside the range of my wifi like when traveling? (I have no clue)
I'd prefer to not open any ports to my network.
That is why I use Tailscale.
That's what Tailscale does... it's effectively a VPN, makes it like you're on your local network
