Hello folks, anybody setup Room Assistant I can bounce a few questions off of? I have a cluster setup and presence detection seems to be working properly using the iOS companion app, but I don't understand why a device_tracker entity is added from the companion app. I can't find this documented anywhere. It reports I'm not home if my presence is not detected in either of my two cluster node locations.

Does anyone know if it is possible in the Promtail addon configuration to add a labels host: homeassistant to all logs coming from the HA VM? (I have a VM running OS). I have several VMs all reporting logs to grafana/loki, which is external to the HA box.

Hi, trying to run the File editor on a fresh install on Pi3A+, I get this:

Failed to to call /addons/core_configurator/start - Image homeassistant/aarch64-addon-configurator:5.3.3 does not exist for addon_core_configurator

I assume this means it didn't install properly?

I hit uninstall, and that seemed to complete fine, when I hit install I am just greeted with a spinning circle indefinitely it appears, I see update.file_editor_update unavailable in the Logbook tab

Be nice. I’m not omnipotent for your setup.

For me, if the domain or IP it be request headed doesn’t match what nginx addon knows about, it fails. In other words, if the cert and domain is set to example.com and you try to use an IP or ha.example.com, it will just reject the connection instead of serving an invalid cert.

I had to change my setup around to ensure that was always the case (instead of my initial reverse proxy setup through another proxy server).

I am controlling a fan that has 2 speeds using a zigbee curtain switch. The device offers a dashboard card that says "up", "down" or "stop". I would rather have speed 1, speed 2 or stop (or low, high, stop). What is the best approach to solve this ? Should I for example create a virtual switch that has what I mentioned and then use automations to link "speed1" to "down", "speed 2" to up etc ?

hello, i used to have remote access to my HA (on raspberry pi) using duckdns+letsencrypt. the issue i was facing was that when connecting locally from my house wifi, the blabla.duckdns.org url would not work, because my home router does not do loopback dns. i am then trying to setup nginx to keep using http when connecting internally and https when connecting remotely, nevertheless my nginx seems to not work correctly

Otherwise there is also an light weight file editor add-on, you could use an FTP server, set up an VPN (WireGuard, ZeroTier, or Tailscale for example), use SSH and edit via terminal or do sFTP over SSH to access files.

Out of the blue my remote login access using duckdns and ngnix is no longer working. I spent a good part of yesterday troubleshooting, uninstalled both add-ons, etc. Finally got it going last night after deleting the fullchain and privkey files in SSL folder, getting a new token from duckdns and re-installing add-ons. I should also state I had a thought that somehow update to core 2022.6.7 had something to do with it, so I downgraded to 6.6. So once I had it going I figured what the heck and installed update again. This morning find out once again it's broke. Go back through all I did previously including downgrading and no luck. Just getting timed out when trying to connect with the companion app. Searching through comments here hasn't lead me to anything to explain what is happening. I'm using pfSense for a firewall and have NAT set to forward 443 to my HA raspberry pi with the associated firewall rule. I'm seeing hits in the log that when searching the IP appears to be the every 5 minute or so duckdns checks, but that's all that get passed. Not even seeing my attempts in the log. All the add-on logs seem to show no issues. I'm lost, someone have a clue for me?

I have done a few backup/restore tests on my InfluxDB using HA backup. Unfortunately, the restore is unusable every time. I have tried 4 different backups. 2 of them were made with InfluxDB stopped to make sure it was consistent, but no luck. My InfluxDB is close to 14 GB when compressed, and it takes a while to restore, but I still don't think it should fail.

Anyone here that have made successful InfluxDB restores? Any suggestions why mine doesn't work?

Can anyone help me get Zigbee2MQTT running? I've watched about 12 videos and each one of them are different. The Add-on is different, the OS is different, and the things each one of them enter into the fields is different. I've tried a combination of all of them and still get the 502 error.

Also I removed the Sonoff stick to update the firmware, which I did eventually do, but after removal I realized I didn't have the proper screwdriver so I stuck it back in. When I did, none of my Zigbee devices came back online. Is there something you have to do when you remove the stick and shove it back in?

I'd almost guarantee it can't find your Zigbee co-ordinator.

Verify it's listed as a device now, and you can always try rebooting your host to see if it pops up.

I only have one tuya device so don't have extensive experience here. I never ran a tuya cloud integration, went straight to local.

I have seen that there's been an update to tuyalocal that allows you to log in to your IOT account and automatically retrieve switch details.

There's also a way to find the IDs though the iot account to make device config much easier!

thanks, that idea looks good. So to be clear, I have HA Supervised running on Debian, and the Cert is created by Nginx PM. The problem is, as Nginx PM, and Mosquitto are both addons running in docker, they can't see eachother's filesystem, so the Mosquitto container can't use the certs created by Nginx PM

Hello, I have setup the SAMBA addon and can access the share via Windows but cannot see/access a folder I created from the terminal in Home Assistant. Within the "config/www" folder I created an "icons" folder to work with a weather card I use. I made it with the terminal add-on. This folder doesn't show up in the share in Windows although the other folders (community, upcoming-media-card-images) do show up when browsing to "config/www" in Windows. When I run "ls -l" in the HA terminal the folder shows "drwxrwxrwx 4 root root" for the "icons" folder I created. I only have a bit of experience with linux (I'm running HA OS on a rasberry pi 4). Can anyone help me make this folder visible to Windows like the rest of the items in the containing folder are?

@vapid glacier According to https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-adb the add-on is deprecated. "This add-on was created at the time, that the best solution for communicating with an Android device from Home Assistant, was using an Android Debug Bridge.
However, the time has changed. Right now, the Home Assistant project recommends using built-in Python implementation, which renders this add-on obsolete.
Additionally, this add-on will become problematic to maintain in the future, as the packages used are stalled.
Therefore, this add-on is now deprecated."

Solved it by editing Nginx PM's http entrance port from 80 to 1080, and now I can easily create certs with http verification. I think Nginx PM doesn't need the http 80 port, because all browsers add the https:// to the URLs, so http is not used

Hi, yesterday I moved my HA install over to my new server PC I've just built. After moving HA over, everything appears to be working just as it was beforehand with no issues. Hi, does anyone know of a way to get Zigbee2MQTT to not expose certain properties to MQTT/Home Assistant? I've tried using the "Filtered publish attributes" but it seems to go completely ignored. I've also tried setting the switch to "null" in the Yaml file. I have some Sengled bulbs that supposedly support 'effect' but it doesn't work on any of them and I'd rather just get jt out of the entity card. Thanks!

I have backups of my Home assistant install in Google drive, with bi-daily backup increments.
Now when i actually ended up in a situation due to power failure and my host died, i need to restore the backups only to face the problem that Backups in Hass or the Google drive backup addon fails in the re-adding of the tar-archives to the host.

Just as the file is about to finish uploading i NaN in the drive backup UI, and the state shifts to failed.

everyone! Ewelink Smart Home devices stop being managed and respond to commands until you restart the service. All devices are updated from the official app. I have reinstalled the addon. But what is interesting, if you restart the addon and press the button (Synk Lovelace Card), then HA will give an error (The HA certificate authority is not trusted. Check the HA certificate and connection parameters and try again. And after that, all devices will work for a couple of days. The question is what kind of certificate where to look for it?thank you in advance for any information.

Tried to remove the addon and restart HA. Now HA spits out errors in the log about /store return code 500 and fail to call /store

And reinstalling the addon fails

The backup addon works but it does not start on boot obvioulsly. I had to manually start it even thought the Start On Boot was on.

If you install an addon - and leave the take backup on - a backup is made of the addon but not the core. When you try to restore a backup - the UI shows core and the addon to be restored. That fails because the backup file does not contain a core. You can however restore the addon so I restored the ssh addon that was backed up in the first failed upgrade attempt.

And now that addon is present and the core error is gone.

Yes. Painful because the failed upgrade destroys something in the core data. I tried to delete the addon again and now I get core errors again. You cannot remove that addon

I think I know what the problem was with the samba backup addon. I had a power outage for many hours several times this weeks because of electrician work. And I shut down HA and my Synology controlled. I think what has happened is that HA has come back alive before Synology and the samba backup crashes or stops because the shared smb folder is not there

Issue: I didn't use my printer for 2 months, now when I try to connect I get err Could not write to serial port - worked before. When I check ports in console I can't see any /dev/ttyUSB*, only ttyS0 and ttyAMA0 (RASPBEE II port). To solve this I tried different USB cable, reinstall Add-on, manually pick baudrates/ports - no luck.

I run Octopi on a Raspberry Pi dedicated for the purpose and it happens that the Debian does not see the Ender. And then replugin or reboot cures it.

Which is why I avoid having anything physical connected to my HA box. I run Deconz, Zigbeejs2mqtt, Unifi on another box. And Octoprint I run on a Raspberry Pi with a 7" touchscreen and the Octoprint plugin that gives a nice UI. It is really cool to have that rights besides my two 3D printers

Thanks Kenneth. Tried both before and didn't work. To double check this I did the same now and again and no luck. I like your solution you've mentioned, but as am using the printer just time to time I don't want to buy another RPI just for this. Am just wondering if something changed in OS itself, as It worked flawlessly for over a year. Also checking the hardware I can see USB's with dev name /dev/bus/usb/001/001 and /dev/bus/usb/002/001 so is there a possibility, that they are not just mapped?

I'm having Samba problems. I'm new to this HA stuff. I have it running fine on a pi with some integrations, but now I want to access the data from a Windows network. I've installed the Samba addon, but when I start it it appears to stop again. This stop button does also not appear. I've been lookign for online help, but some things appear to have changed. I've read about using quotes with user names and passwords, but the standard config tool does not seem to do this. Additionally, after first configuration I can't change anything, I get a message along the lines of 'nothing to see here, please move along'. What am I missing ?

so whats the secret to getting the nginx proxy addon to support web sockets? There are a few addons like Scrutiny and Esphome that dont fully work because of it. Im assuming i need to be running a custom nginx config because of it?

I have homeassistant running on docker. (Home Assistant Container) core-2022.7.2. I've read that addons can be installed without supervised. I'm specifically attempting to add the ssh addon to make life easier when on my phone. I'd like to learn to do this if possible. I'm trying to get the AdGuard Home addon working. It's up and running but if I configured my router to use it for DNS, then DNS on my network no longer works. The IP I should be configuring on my router should be the IP for my HA instance, correct? For instance if on my local network I can get to HA by going to 10.1.2.3:8123 then that's the IP I should configure for DNS in my router, correct?

I'm on HA supervised- running on Debian 11. With the Adguard add-on, this pc has trouble connecting to the network on a reboot. I believe it is due to my router pointing the DNS back it is IP address? Will setting a DNS server in Debian help with this. It seems to have an error of "raise network interface error" then I can't ssh to it, and it is essentially not connected to the network. If I change the DNS on my router to the ISP or 1.1.1.1 instead of my PC running HA, restart the pc, it will connect and work just fine.

Running haos on Intel, I'm faced with an addon (zigbee2mqtt) who changed repo location about a year ago.

Now I have a new device which I need to update the zigbee2mqtt version for 🤪

The addon has in the meantime also migrated its data files from /share to /config.

All the migration guides tell me I need to copy stuff from one location to another. How do I copy stuff in the addon containers when running haos?

Installed a Centralite Pearl thermostat model 3157100. Was messing around to learn more about what I can do in Zigbee2mqtt and made an entry in "Filtered publish attributes". It worked as expected but I now cannot delete that entry. Clicking the - beside the entry does nothing that I can tell using either Firefox or Chrome as the browser. Can anyone tell me how to delete this entry?

I want to make this data visually easy to view, like how many times a day, who was online, for how long etc. I was advised Graphana & influxdb (is it right? I also heard they are pro tools ).

I have two problems that I can't find a solution. I have two installations in different houses that are 50km apart, so completly different installations but both on two Intel Nucs. Everytime I reinitiate HA, on both houses, I lose my IPMA weather integration card. I just can't find the entities. I tried to reinstall then but the Weather card is not available. I reinitate the HA but the result is the same. Sometimes after one upgrade the card is back and I'm able to reinstall the IPMA integration? This has been hapenning for more than six months now. Maybe there is no relation but on the main house, everytime I restart or upgrade the HA, my Velux roof windows integration stops working. I have to hard reset the Velux KLM200 and restart HA, and they will be available again. For both situations I've tried to find clues without success. Does anyone is suffering similar problems withother integrations? Can anyone please suggest any clue? Thank you in advance. All the Best and Take care. Mario

Evening everyone.
I need some tips on a problem I'm facing. I'm running HassOS VM in proxmox. On the same server I have a Frigate LXC.
Using the Frigate Proxy Add-on I see regular drops in the connection. This results in the detection switches in HA to go "Unavailable". When they come back online, they always retain to ON, regardless of their earlier status.

Anyone else see this problem and have a solution?

What is the best way to make the AdGuard add-on dark? I use Dark Reader extensively but unfortunately it changes the whole HA theme instead of only the AdGuard dashboard. I'm experimenting with uBlock Origin as well, but I can also only get it to change the whole HA domain vs just AdGuard. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Hi. Im not sure if this is a correct channel but today after restarting os on HA Supervised, zwavejs2mqtt doesnt want to start again. Which is weird because i also restarted it yesterday and zwavejs2mqtt started fine
Im getting an error:

Thank you for the suggestion. The dev of uBlock assisted me and I could change the filter to:

Had this issue yesterday but didn't get much help. File Editor and Studio Code Server aren't able to find any files, even though they exist and I can modify them when using the Terminal add-on. I only noticed this after upgrading to 2022.7.4 but it could have happened before then since I haven't used the File Editor in awhile. I also upgraded to 2022.7.5 and that didn't change anything. Not really sure what else to try at this point.

Well I feel dumb for not thinking of this earlier, but you mentioning reinstalling the add-on reminded me that I could restart that add-ons separately. Did that for both and now they work. Still don't understand why a full restart of HA wouldn't have fixed them

During what was an attempted cleanup I caused some problem with my mariadb install. needed to make a fresh VM for just that - so I'm not even trying to fix it, just make a new one manually. Can't seem to find enough detail (because the add-on is so much easier) on what type of database to make (I think there are options to choose). I've got mariadb server running but need to make a new database and user (user I can handle from documentation) anything specific about a "homeassistant" database?

Is anyone using the Code Notary (codenotary.com) capabilities in conjunction with add-ons? I read the documentation and apparently there is a build.yaml file (which I have not used; I use build.json to specify FROM images); any help? I signed my Docker container, but the cas program on my Mac only generated amd64 SBOM even tho' aarch64 and armv7 are in the multi-arch manifest

i'm running hassio OS so no way to have a package manager and install those missing packages.
is there any way to solve this? is the only way to run the addon as a container or dependencies can be installed in hassio OS?

I was thinking about re-doing a lot of my home network architecture. I'm running HA on Proxmox and have another VM on Proxmox with a bunch of other containers. I was thinking about moving the containerized add-ons out of HA and into their own standalone containers to make things a little more 'distributed' and moving everything to Infrastructure-As-Code. Is there any big win/drawback to moving things out? It's hard to tell how many of the add-ons are custom-built to be run alongside HA - it does seem like most are pretty generic.
