(also thanks for making me aware of the feather TFT, I'm looking forward to playing with it!)
Hug to @small musk for both the inspiration and the image and image conversion script, I added a Winamp skin to my Album Art display. I pick an album on my website, and it sends the art over to the PyPortal and the artist name and album title display in Winamp. There's a picture in #show-and-tell. Big thanks!
A big Health and Safety approved* hug for @twin lagoon . Allayed my LiPo charging cutoff voltage fears and confirmed/cemented my understanding. Thanks for being on hand for all enquiries!
Hug to @jolly finch for taking the time out of their day to help me stumble through getting the latency lower on my neokey1x4 input scanning. They were very helpful, insightful and patient with me. They even wrote/adapted an input handling system that worked perfectly for me (even if it was for their github examples).
Hug to Richard Albritton for an amazing airlift learn guide with openweather. https://learn.adafruit.com/circuitpython-connected-weather-cloud Allowed me to hit the ground running with my own airlift openweather related project.
My less technical friend gets a hug report because she wondered if hug reports were a kind of bug report about adding parentheses around something
.. so hug report to her
That's awesome
hug report to coffee and sugar for making otherwise impossible projects possible
hug report to the genius(es) that made this absolutely fab video https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/heroes/servo_hat.mp4
Hug to @lethal egret for writing a fading animation class for displayio. That one is going to come in handy for a ton of different displayio projects.
Thank you @stray galleon. The fader class’s ulab array approach was inspired by a CircuitPython class developed by @uncut hemlock and @drowsy shard.
Hug to @oblique latch for helping me setup serial console in windows vscode and @fading zodiac for showing me the error of my ways with socketpool.
Many Thanks to Dan(@elfin cloak), Jeff(@uncut hemlock), and Mark(@whole trench21) for all the comments, guidance, suggestions, review, testing, and multiple side-issues with git, pre-commit, build issues, module structure and naming, and above all professional patience on new module analogbufio for RP2040 against issue #6757. A great experience! I hope I can continue to contribute likewise. Great Job!
Many thanks to @craggy cypress and @drowsy shard , but especially to @prime trench for sorting out adafruit-io this last week, bug fixing, shepherding through my pull requests, offering reassurance and debate, and fixing some esp related upload trickery. The adafruit ecosystem is a pleasure to work with, adafruit-IO for the quick bringup and circuitpython for the nitty-gritty / pleasure. The joy/simplicity it brings makes me recommend it unprompted 🤗
hug to @sturdy fog for adding tuple address support for stemma 7-segment display backpacks in the adafruit_ht16k33 library. prior to that i had to initialize each individual backpack. the non-stemma backpacks wired in parallel had tuple address support. i'm using both kinds in my project. this now brings the stemma backpacks up to date... cuts the stemma initialization code in half! ❤️
old code ```py
#Stemma backpacks must be initialized individually then combined later
blue1 = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=0x74)
blue1.fill(0)
blue1.brightness = 0.5
blue1.print(1111)
blue2 = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=0x73)
blue2.fill(0)
blue2.brightness = 0.5
blue2.print(2222)
red1 = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=0x75)
red1.fill(0)
red1.brightness = 0.5
red1.print(3333)
red2 = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=0x70)
red2.fill(0)
red2.brightness = 0.5
red2.print(4444)
green1 = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=0x76)
green1.fill(0)
green1.brightness = 0.5
green1.print(5555)
green2 = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=0x77)
green2.fill(0)
green2.brightness = 0.5
green2.print(6666)
new code ```py
blue = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=(0x74, 0x73))
blue.fill(0)
blue.brightness = 0.5
blue.print(11112222)
red = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=(0x75, 0x70))
red.fill(0)
red.brightness = 0.5
red.print(33334444)
green = segments.Seg7x4(i2c, address=(0x76, 0x77))
green.fill(0)
green.brightness = 0.5
green.print(55556666)
I'd love to take credit for correcting the type annotations to make it clearer, but I believe @sturdy fog is the one who added the actual support 🙂
then Melissa gets a big hug
Aww, thank you
Hug to @storm dune and @tardy crag for helping me troubleshoot my rfm95 board issues. Figured out I somehow did not follow the guide wiring and did my own thing then tried using the guide pinouts. This had kind of an amazing and funny consequence of the ESP32-S2 triggering the IRQ pin instead of reset. Apparently... and everyone might want to write this down... if you accidentally send a reset signal to an IRQ pin on a lora board it will ONLY disable the receiver and not the transmitter.. Then the next time you hit save and do it again it re-enables the receiver (because it lifts the interrupt). This has the effect of toggling the receiver off/on with every file save. Good to know?
Hug to @ripe lagoon for the excellent picow guide. Especially thank you for a working example of the twitter api. Didn’t know you could add headers to a request.get that way. Was banging my head against the wall for days with auth fail returns. The way you constructed the header is a huge help. 🙏
thanks! so glad it was helpful!
I'd like to thank @elfin cloak (I think) for the ability to define USB HID descriptors in boot.py instead of needing to roll my own firmware variant, even though I did that the first time around. Updating to the newest version of CircuitPython and a different board, it took me about an hour to tweak my code.py and write a boot.py and get everything working! The first version of this thing took me days to puzzle out!
@jolly finch For helping me with an example for multiple MCP23017 chips. MCP's don't work with the keypad library. His MCP key scanning library is a savior. Saved me from having to write my own debouncing and key scanning script. Huge time saver. Also the new example he wrote uses asyncio! Thank you Neradoc. ❤️
Hug report going to @elfin cloak for helping me with installing the CircuitPython toolchain. Great stuff! 🍩
@nocturne sage for detailed instructions on how to use the shared Dockerfile to build Circuitpython from scratch 🙏
@jolly finch @desert monolith @scarlet stratus @fading zodiac for troubleshooting a neat pca9548 multiplexer conflict issue with 7-segment displays in circuit python. everyone had some great ideas to get around the conflict. ultimately settled on using only half of the channels if using with address space conflicting backpacks. pca9548 multiplexer and backpacks use an identical I2C 0x70-0x77 address range.
@jolly finch for the detailed answer about caveats allocating large bytearrays
I just want to leave a hug for Kelly, the creator of the Analog Electronic Birdsong Synthesizer .. I mean how awesome are these?!
https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/product-videos/1024x768/5654-00.mp4
❤️ 🌈 🦄
I don't know if Adafruit gives out some kind of award for the best User Page guide of the year but my vote goes to @shadow ridge for https://learn.adafruit.com/u/joeycastillo/neopixel-christmas-tree-with-deep-sleep-and-lcd-featherwing Amazing guide. 🤗
General hug report for the Adafruit support team -- had an issue with some wire strippers, got help on the forum, and had a replacement order submitted within 12 hours!
A special hug for the moderation team here. Things have been pretty busy on the discord lately and they’ve done a top notch job at keeping this community welcoming and warm. Thank you for all the diligent work you do making this probably the best discord in the maker community! 🙂
@jolly finch for making feel welcomed and his prompt assistance. Wish I could provide $$Tip.
sending extra grateful thanks to @elfin cloak & @uncut hemlock for solving the problems with the Pico W logging into WiFi networks that don't require a password. I am now able to simply pass in an empty string for standard Adafruit IO MQTT code & have the super-easy-to-use IO dashboard connect to a Pico W on campus, control servos & lights, etc. This will REALLY be a huge help to my students this semester. We'll switch from Raspberry Pis to Pico Ws, this will save a ton of setup time, limit frustration, allow them to do more/faster. The dashboard on Adafruit IO is also super cool. I'll be sure to post tutorial videos for all the course content we create so hopefully your great work can reach more students & faculty wanting to do great things. Just wanted to really underscore how much it means that you all made this a priority & got things done for the start of the semester. My very best to you all!
Quick thanks to @jolly finch who so kindly walked me through the not-so-friendly process needed to update CPBs to the latest bootloader. I have about 100 CPBs that all were pre 0.4. After kindly helping me with a step-by-step set of commands that I needed to follow, I was able to get the boards updated & ready for our class on Tuesday. Adafruit continues to be such an exemplar in community & support. I'm really grateful for the time that folks put in to helping others. Peace!
Big hug to @young ermine for being an open-source legend. (lvgl glue release on friday)
TFW when you're trying to learn more about something, and the name of a person you know pops up @mossy forge https://github.com/todbot/hidapitester
woohoo! let me know if you have any questions about it. hidapi has been upgraded greatly since I wrote that and while it's easy to rebuild hidapitester yourself, I've not published updated builds
will do
Got my first QT Py ESP32-S3 & it didn't show up when mounted on my MacBook w/Ventura. Saw @ripe lagoon's learn guide & @sturdy fog's reset tool. Reset went perfectly. Wi-Fi & STEMMA-QT tests on board are all working great. Thanks for the tools & desc. to help me quickly figure out how to get things working.
yay!
Thanks to @elfin cloak and @jolly finch for helping me troubleshoot my feather S3 issue. I didn't choose the wrong firmware. I wasn't even using the board I thought I was... and it was sitting in my hand. A keen eyed Neradoc spotted it in a picture I posted lol.
Hey I'm super (months) late to even seeing this, but thanks SO kindly for the comments. It really means a lot. I have to confess that I approach a lot of my interactions here sheepishly because I'm not an engineer & sort of cobble together my python knowledge on the fly (I'm much more comfortable in Swift where I teach a full course in app development). I just jumped into teaching PhysicalComputing since we didn't have a class like this that welcomed anyone & I thought the students could do a lot with it. So far it's been great for all, although I'm constantly tweaking things. The forum & all of your work on CircuitPython really helps me skill up & pass this on to my students & others. So just a quick "thanks back". You really made my day. You are most welcome to use any of the content I create. I drop weekly Keynote slides w/Challenges & Solutions into the course open Google Drive at https://gallaugher.com (apologies for the vanity URL - it's easy to remember & I can keep it separate from the university). Peace!
Guys I can't believe this u2if ! Once I got it all installed and tested, I took a Pico project in CP I had working, with a joystick and RGB LCD hooked up to I2C. The stick changes RGB colors (analogio).
Installed the u2if.uf2 boot code, changed TWO LINES OF CODE (only because of pin definitions) and it works perfectly (just slower) running the python script on the PC thru u2if. Incredible. PT has said a few times we "complain they're making it too easy..." well I love it! Thanks PT and LadyAda!
Hugs to ALL Adafruit for their engineering prowess!
By way of lengthy explanation: I'm a wee bit crazy, so I'm writing a bunch of "robotics" code from scratch using Kotlin/Java and the https://wws.diozero.com library. I've already done a CRICKIT Hat for the Raspberry Pi, which required translating the SeeSaw code (quite a load of fun, actually). Today I'm getting a NeoKey 1x4 - which includes a SeeSaw. It literally took me less than 5 minutes to create my Kotlin version - thanks to the SeeSaw!
Dang you guys make this stuff easy!
@elfin cloak the adafruit_board_toolkit just saved me so much time from having to figure out how to automatically select and hook into the data serial line for a project I'm working on. It was a huge headache and ended up just being super smooth and looks like it'll be cross-platform. THANK YOU!
You're very welcome, and also see https://github.com/Neradoc/discotool, which is a CLI tool with similar capabilities. Neradoc did the Mac side of the device discovery which I incorporated into the toolkit.
for which I am also thankful for as I'm currently developing on a mac and targeting a raspberry pi for deployment of the code! Very handy!
whoever wrote the CPY safemode learn guide docs, and included a documentation link just saved my old code after I foolishly played with disabling usb+remounting without a button toggle option. big hug worthy moment after 3weeks of not seeing the code.py file
I believe that would be @elfin cloak!
The emerging M7 audio synth stuff is jaw-droppingly impressive. @uncut hemlock ’s contributions are stellar — and musically unbiased. They are creating the perfect synth foundational building blocks. Amazing.
Shout-out to @elfin cloak and @merry void - prototype works now!
Big thanks to Liz @ripe lagoon for the new and fabulous ANO Rotary Encoder I2C Overview and Guide. 👍🏻
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-ano-rotary-navigation-encoder-to-i2c-stemma-qt-adapter
glad it was helpful 😺
Thanks for including the team progress reports. Specifically this week the git bisect in CPY news, I'm an advanced dev with serious git experience who mercifully has not had to use git bisect and only casually heard of it's usage. Having the 1000 commit problem (changeset of 1000changes includes bug or fix) highlighted it's value quickly and brought on a good discussion with peers who had used it.
as a life-long "lighting effects" dabbler/afficiando, super kudos for the I2C->Neopixel board https://www.adafruit.com/product/5766
thanks to @hushed cypress @stray galleon especially and with contributions from @nocturne sage @warm solstice for giving me heavy help to regain faith/hope in my 3d printer in the last 3h30 on #help-with-3dprinting !!! 🙂
I want to thank whoever came up with the idea of "frozen" CircuitPython libraries to free up ram - totally turned a frustrating MatrixPortal project into something that was fun again.
Also seeing a company genuinely recognize pride and act on equity as a core value the way you do makes me feel less like a weirdo and restores some of my faith in humanity.
OK as you were.
thanks to everyone on the dev channel (specially danh and tannewt), always fast and great answers to my questions
looking forward to make more PRs, sorry for the dumber questions(and code) incoming 😛
@bright sage for all your work in https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/pull/7585. Became very useful today!!!
Shoutout and thanks to the whole Adafruit team, for one product I just found you have.
https://www.adafruit.com/product/5427
Guess who might be getting a new watch for Christmas this year. 🙂
#general-tech message I just noticed that I don't think I've seen an Adafruit shop page that was obviously wrong... So thanks for that! 😄
Neat... I wish the vcore chip or supports did oximeter and pressure as well though.
This hug report is for @golden crag
I’m really thankful to have had you as a moderator here in the community. You played a huge role in helping make this the open and welcoming community that it is. Your work with the other mods has been nothing short of amazing. Cheers 🍻 to your next endeavors. I know I speak for all the helpers and mods that there will always be a seat at the table here.
Don’t be a stranger and I hope we can help you in this next stage as much as just a maker as you’ve helped this community. ❤️
@storm dune Thank you! 😊
Want to second what @storm dune said. @golden crag has done so much to help shape things around here over the past several years, and it really wouldn't be the same place if you hadn't been here
i got it working!!!
thank you so much to danh, paul cutler, romkey, and anecdata for helping me out in this brainaching day
Very cool!
Hug to whoever is developing the Playground notes. It's much easier to use than the initial version and is now enjoyable to work with. ❤️
passed on to the devs
Huge hug 🤗 to @inner pagoda who helped fix an error handling issue I've been tracking for months intermittently. That was the last possible error I couldn't account for in my Feather Weather project. Now it's practically bulletproof no matter if wifi is down, openweathermaps is down, adafruitio is down, it will wait patiently forever and reconnect eventually. Thank you Deshipu for solving how to handle that random intermittent error. ❤️
Analog Electronic Birdsong Synthesizer
shout for foamyguy. the circup deep dives and PR's were interesting and informative, just built my first circup bundle with chained dependencies and it all works. Love it
shoutout to "Adafruit Support, Stephanie" for a fast and amazingly helpful and useful response to my query
Hug to whoever creates the pretty pinout graphics. After having to look at some other manufacturer documentation it's given me a new appreciation how helpful Adafruit's documentation is.
Thanks MUCHO to Neradoc for a few things - helping me out with dumb questions in the past... AND,
for these examples:
https://github.com/NeraSamples/circuitpython_usb_serial
After several attempts to read up on and learn the usb_cdc mystery (to me anyway), I finally have a grasp on this, and am happily sending data from Python to my CP boards, displaying in an OLED, etc., and also seeing debug prints in MU REPL. I'm dangerous now! Lots of new projects floating in my poor head.
even though i haven't gotten any yet, HUGE shout out to whoever came up with the idea of putting cuttable LED power traces on the newer I2C boards 😻
do you have a write up for your project? I like the look of those buttons

I wish to extend gratitude to @austere basin - for their assistance in debugging CircuitPython IR.
They have great observations and helped identify 2 issues I encountered with IR on CircuitPython. First, we found an error in the CPX learning guide for IR (issue with correction opened). We also narrowed down a bug in the adafruit_irremote. Library (issue opened with details of a workaround).
I don't think I would have working code without their assist.
I'm always impressed by how active @twin lagoon and @elfin cloak are - I often come to this Discord with random ramblings about vague project ideas and they've both been very helpful and friendly. It makes DIY projects so much more approachable :)
many thanks to whomever setup builds of mpy-cross and made them available on AWS. Having that tool available outside a full CircuitPython environment is great for testing 👏🏼
crazy amount of kudos to the creator of the Gamepad QT -- this has become my go-to for "i need a button or thing to initiate another thing" testing/usage platform: it's stupid simple to just plug it in and throw a couple of "is button pressed" code checks and away you go! (much prettier than except KeyboardInterrupt: 😀 )
Kudos to all the volunteers that answer questions on his server! I hope to pay it forward as I learn more.
kudos to the person who made the name of this channel. it made me smile.
Big shoutout to the folks at Adafruit and the CircuitPython community for making some of the best hardware and software on the planet! 😻
Shotout to all birds for being so beautiful! 🐦🐦⬛
@ripe lagoon woo your new guide is out. I want to do a digital video project with rp2350 soon
yay! me too 📺⚡
I hope this is the right place to give a BIG THANKS to DANH for coming to the rescue. I wanted to use the Bluefruit Connect App to work with the LED Glasses MC but connected to the 13x9 RGB Matrix. The problem was a 20 character limitation. Dan took the time to research and make the changes to allow the adafruit_ble to process more than 20 characters. I love working with CircuitPython. You guys make it so easy to work with. Thanks Dan.
Lots of love to the folks in the forums, on the discord, and the Adafruit staff. You all are wonderful and have created a warm and welcoming environment for everyone. It doesn't go unnoticed.
Thanks Adafruit for making these images https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/assets/assets/000/077/008/large1024/hand_tools_header_stabber.png?1560465197

I keep copy pasting them in discord and most people immediately understand everything. Way faster than trying to explain it in text
Thanks adafruit for putting screw terminals on the propmaker rp2040. Allows me to really make last minute projects possible, even if they’re made of paper…
Shout-out and special thanks to Tim/Foamyguy, who last night told me/us about a new guide page for the Feather RP2040 USB Host!
I have been using the "Text Editor on the Go", that I copied and modified/added code to send strings thru RFM69 to another board receiver.
Now I've successfully modified the code from that latest guide mentioned above, to take keystrokes from a regular ol' USB keyboard, build a string, then send that string out over RFM69. I know nothing at all about USB basically, and wouldn't even know how to get started on this code that Tim wrote. GREAT! 👍
– @exotic fulcrum
Many thanks to @elfin cloak for diving into my CircuitPython issues getting keyboard key codes over BLE working in conjunction with deep sleep. Not only did we find 2 bugs but Dan fixed one, created a PR, and provided a temporary build before I had time to write up. He also devised a workaround for the second issue so I could continue development.
@white matrix while giving me advice on my project, just went out of their way to sketch up a circuit diagram which really helped me get the idea solidified in my head! I just got here and I love the community already!
I recognize that case 🙂 Just put one of those on my wheelchaire.
Despite the earliest divergent commit being around three weeks ago, and @restive sedge putting a "Status: Experimental" warning within its README.md, https://github.com/johnnohj/circuitpython/tree/wasm/ports/wasm#readme and the other markdown files within that folder seem to document the effort quite extensively. Although maybe not the best analogy, it looks similar to most LLMs, but with no obvious hallucinations, and at a more reasonable level of verbosity.
Thank you to @gloomy fractal for the msc_sdfat example code. With only minor tweaks I was able to integrate it into my flavor of the tester_brains code. 👏🏼👏🏼
I have been ramping up on using Fusion and would like to give a huge thank you to @chrome pollen for all the amazing layer by layer tutorials. It is humbling and inspiring to see how proficient folks like him are at using this amazing tool. Thank you very much!
https://github.com/flavio-fernandes/fusion-getting-started-notes/blob/adafruit/fusion-layer-by-layer-checklist.md
A happy thank you to @sturdy fog for doing a wonderful job hosting the "show and tell" livestream this week. She was engaging with everyone who participated and kept the energy flowing! 🤗
@elfin cloak took my concerns seriously in https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/issues/10814, provided reasonable and effective debugging steps, and didn't call me an idiot even one time when it (of course) turned out to be (mostly) my fault. <3
I just want to say thank you to the AdaFruit team for speaking out and using their platform for the people. I’m only recently shifting from labor work to 3d printing, electronics and potentially engineering. I’ve just been so inspired in this space!
I will strictly be sourcing all the parts I can from Adafruit. I just hope to get involved to make a difference, and thanks to you all it feels possible 💛
I recently bordered 3 aQt Py 2s plugging it into my main pc a Linux mint set up no drive appeared I did the slow dbl click like I've done with many boards to get into boot mode I copy the latest .UF2 file to the boot drive the drive disappears but instead of being in the circuitry drive it reloads to boot drive. Is there anything I can do my next thought is to try a sightly older uf2 if I can find it. Any other ideas I'd be most grateful. Sorry if this in the wrong place
please ask in #help-with-circuitpython or #help-with-projects . Please say eaxctly which board you have.
Qt Py 2s. (Esp32s2) I thought this channel was bug reports i now see it is hug reports
ooh! New channel!
Whats this channel for ?
Hug reports = thanking people
The mail bag part I think Phil said he would sometimes share something they got in the mai
Oh !
can I send a hug report of @gentle verge / @hardy peak ? running a public server can't be easy, but multiple times now I've seen actions that show a dedication to keeping this place welcoming and inclusive. it really does feel like we're building a community. so... thanks 😃
I think I've said this already, but it's nice to know that in addition to providing great hardware, software and guides the people behind adafruit are A+ human beings too
aw, thank ya
I especially appreciate the moderators' diligence to keep the forums and chats granddaughter-friendly. Thank you.
@lethal egret thats a good way to describe it "grand-daughter friendly"
@frigid garnet thank you for the nice #hug-reports we read it at our weekly "state of the fruit" to the team!
Hugs for the great instructions for the NFC Arduino board - only PN53x board i've managed to get reliably working
From the mail bag!
Greetings,
I recently placed my first ordered and wanted to send feedback about my experience. First of all, yall (yea I am from Texas) do all the standard online shopping stuff very well. This would include easy to navigate website, plenty of shipping and payment options, timely communication and prompt shipping.
It is very clear that just making a sale is not the end goal. All the documentation, how-tos, open source software, videos and community interaction clearly proves that yall want a positive experience using the purchased items. Another small detail that illustrates this point is the flip top shipping boxes. As soon as I saw the box and noticed it was not the plain shipping box, I immediately had ideas how I could reuse it to help organize my stuff due to the flip top lid. I have found using plain shipping boxes don’t work so well and go straight to the recycle bin. This attention to detail only comes from people who are knowledgeable about pain points after the sale and are willing to spend the time and money for a better overall experience.

I like the celebrations of employees on Labor Day
From the mail bag!
I’ll go ahead and take this opportunity to say I love your company and all the hard work your team puts in to get such high quality electronics and products out into the world, I’ve made a few wearables with your Neopixel rings and Gemmas for people and they are always so happy with them, and they love hearing that your company is based here in the US. Also, a few friends and myself have been kicking around the idea of opening a hacker space here in East Tennessee, so hopefully I’ll get to be bulk ordering parts from you guys in the next year or so.
Once again, thanks for all your hard work, love the products.
Yours Nerdily,
Chris
Thanks very much to @finite hill for prompt response to a problem with adafruit.io! 6 minutes from report to fix must be some kind of record. Once again, great customer service from @hardy peak 😃
Three cheers for @tardy crag for linking me to a project that provided exactly what I needed to know. And he did it just 10 minutes upon asking for help. 💯
From the mail bag!
You guys and girls rock!
Just ordered RTL SDR and I’m in ZA!
Building https://learn.adafruit.com/freq-show-raspberry-pi-rtl-sdr-scanner
A fortune to ship but so easy to order and well worth it!
Site is fast, you offer UPS and your tutorials and libraries are so fun to
work with and they work SO WELL!
Please give my regards to Tony DiCola.
Absolutely the best Pi co.!
Yay!
Thank you (@hardy peak ? @gentle verge ?) for the blog-bot. I don't think to go look at the blog every day so it's fantastic to have the list to look at when there are new posts!
it definitely makes it much easier for me to keep up on all the content!
I mean, it makes me realize how much we need RSS. but I wasn't good enough at pruning out sites I didn't care about, so I would always be behind
@gentle verge helped a user in Discord who was very frustrated and striking out at ... everything. Scott showed incredible patience and empathy. Great job!
@gentle verge turned that user around from desiring to throw everything out....to being happy and willing to continue with the hobby 😃
Yup! Nice job @gentle verge and everyone who helped the user!
thanks for the heads up @hot glade
@gentle verge No problem, looks like they needed the help!
@timid junco Just helped me get started with circuit python, even though I ended up messing up pretty bad at one point! 🙃 Now I've got some basic code running!
I am so happy with your new Gemma M0. It is a lovely little controller. Especially the capacitive touch function, I didn't expect that on such a tiny device. Thank you.
You're a real inspiration Adafruit. Making the maker world a better place.
Once again @left marsh and @gentle verge helped me get circuit python running!
Thank you Adafruit Support, and particularly Kelly and Stephanie! You rock-stars helped me get my Adabox subscription sorted out so that I can get Adabox 005, and take it to an event this weekend where we're doing (among other things) retro-gaming.
big thanks to @timid junco and @left marsh I think if not for them, I may only have tiny bits remaining of my Huzzah board, and a slightly worn down hammer. With their help I was able to get everything properly set up with circuit python, and save myself a trip to the hardware store for said hammer.
@fleet trench happy to help! 😃
A big thanks to @gentle verge for setting up Discord. I'm making connections I never expected because of it. For example, I found a mentor who is experienced at high power rocketry to guide me along as I learn. Never planned it, but fortunately there's Discord.... 😃

Dear Adafruit Team,
Over the past couple months I have ordered the Arduino ARDX kit, some miscellaneous small parts, and most recently a new soldering iron with all the accessories. It was a major upgrade over my first iron which was a Christmas present that came from Harbor Freight Horror Fright. By upgrade, I mean it is actually powerful enough to heat rosin and keep it warm long enough to work with!
I’m constantly learning new concepts with the wonderful Adafruit learning system and the videos are a constant source of inspiration. As I’ve gone from my first time bread boarding to soldering my first through hole project, I now feel confident I can make whatever I set my mind to. I guess you could say, you guys have lead me to all the right tools for the job!
Rock on guys! Catch ya on the show and tell,
-Chance

I just wanted to send a big thank you to every member of the team for
everything that you all do. I’m always so impressed with the quality of the
products, guides, livestreams, website, ordering, packaging and shipping
that you guys have. Also speaking as someone who works in tech support and
is often doing work that no one ever really knows about behind the scenes, I
want to thank everyone at Adafruit in those types of roles as well.
I’m sending this this week because receiving Adabox 005 really made my week,
which had been a challenging week for many reasons both personal and
professional. It was my first time joining in and I was thoroughly impressed
by everything included. I love working with Raspberry Pi, especially as an
emulator, and can’t wait to try out the Joy Bonnet. I look forward to
tinkering with everything included and what a surprise to receive an issue
of The MagPi on top of everything else!
I just wanted to say thanks because I had the kind of week that reminded me
of how important it is to express appreciation. It is the little things that
matter most. Thank you all for everything you do in supporting open source,
making, education and community.
Best,
Liz
Major hug and thanks to @zinc kayak for giving his time, expertise, and patience to our talk at Geek Girl Con this weekend about getting started with Arduino. The demo gods were cranky that day, but he kept his cool through it all and gave a ton of valuable info to folks who left inspired and excited to give it a try. Thanks so much Tony for inspiring me, and lots of other folks!

Hi Limor + Phillip,
From all of us on the organizing team (and the hackers!) — thank you so much for working with us and giving an amazing fireside chat at HackMIT! We’re still tying up all the loose ends of the event, so apologies for this long overdue note!
Phillip — thank you for being such a pleasure to work with throughout the summer! It was great knowing that you were always accessible and willing to help
Limor — it was amazing hearing you speak. The tour of the factory (almost like we were right there in person!) was such a singular experience, and your Q&As about open-source hardware, education, and all the stories from Adafruit history were so inspiring. I’ll always remember that question about how to deal with being a woman in tech — and your perfect “Ah, you just kick their ass!” 😜
We have quite a few people on team who were beyond excited to have you with us at the event this year, and we all couldn’t be happier
Hope you all and Adafruit have a great year ahead, and let us know if you’re ever back in town!

A few years ago AdaFruit published a story about my daughter
and I working on a space balloon project (https://blog.adafruit.com/2012/10/18/high-altitude-balloon-experiment-to-rate-the-tenacity-of-presidential-candidates/). I figured I owe Ada Fruit an update. After working on the space balloon, new projects emerged for daughter. During her fifth grade year she participated on her school’s First Lego League (FLL) Robotics Team. From there she has gone on to be a student mentor for the team for the past 2 years. During this season she even spurred on the creation of an all girl’s robotics team at the school. This was mostly in part that she want to show that girls can be engineers and programmers. She had noticed that in the past the girls on the teams where sometimes streamed rolled by the boys. Often statements like you are “only a girl” would be said by the boys. She has made it a personal goal to show just how much girls can do when it comes to robotics. She has taken this love of technology and begun to spread it to as many people as she can. I just want crew at Ada Fruit how much they have helped influence the next generation of makers and builders.

Can I just say… Adafruit rocks! I think that the accessibility you and your products have provided to electronic engineering is amazing. It’s made me break out the soldering iron again after many years, and I’m hoping that my two daughters will be similarly inspired.

An amazing hug report for the entire Adafruit Discord server from @scarlet stratus who just joined: "I'm slowly going through some of the history on this server and I can't help but have one thought. People really are amazing. I can't help but feel like that when I see all the amazing, creative, things people manage to make. And even when they do fail they just step back and learn from it with the support of everyone else. It's amazing how persistent everyone for the sake of progress. I just can't help but be in awe by people."

I’ve been purchasing products (or as my wife says, “toys”) from Adafruit for three years now and have NEVER had a failed part or manufacturing defect with anything. The customer service has been nothing but outstanding and the information made available to customers in the form of code, tutorials and projects is icing on the cake.

Hi all! I just wanted to say how much I love & believe in this community!! I taught Mia tonight how to go on here to ask for help in working out a problem that she ran into while following the 'piano in the key of lime' tutorial. Being that Mia is only 8 I haven't allowed her on any public forums before. But I knew that this is a good & safe community for her to break her teeth on. Keep up the great work @golden crag (who, so patiently, helped Mia tonight & with even more patients has helped me so sooo many times before) & @everyone! Thank you for embodying your goodness, creating, & maintaining this awesome community. 😃

Greetings Adafruit team,
Thanks again for the excellent product and shipping. Please pass my thanks to the shipping staff, time lords, Mosfet, and the rest for the amazing product and support.
I would also like to thank Lady Ada for letting us look over her shoulder to see how she evaluates new product.
The impromptu demo of surface mount soldering of the peizo buzzer makes me want to have a go at it.
Lady Ada’s quick transistor biasing tutorial makes me wish I could pop by with a TARDIS and send her back in time to tutor active devices in college.
I drop little things while I’m working and am grateful that I’m not the only one. I keep a solid color mat under my work area to make them easier to find.
With gratitude,

I wanted to thank Phil & Lady Ada for giving my class some Circuit Playground Express devices. My middle School class made a number of projects with them and then showed them off to the 4th graders. My class has really enjoyed learning about programming and the younger kids really loved seeing the projects. I thought I'd share some notes the 4th graders wrote as they really seemed to love the Circuit Playgrounds as well. Consider these notes to Adafruit as well as my class, as you guys have been very generous with your time and learning resources.

I purchased this audio decoder https://www.adafruit.com/products/2341, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and one of your Perma-Proto half-sized breadboards. I wanted to make a simple radio prop that played static all the time, but interrupt it and play certain radio broadcasts when triggered. This was my first real electronics project, so I was worried I would short it out or touch two wires the wrong way and connect something wrong and ruin the board.
But after a lot of trial and error, it turned out great and works perfectly. I plugged in the speakers and heard static, and when I flipped the switch and heard the radio broadcast I cannot tell how excited I was that it worked, and felt compelled to write this. Thank you so much for making my first project a memorable experience.

Hello everyone.
I want to give a big hug to Ladyada and PT. They are awesome.
One of my New Years Resolutions is to start providing project descriptions, tutorials and learning guides for Adafruit. I've never done it before and is something I would really like to do for this one simple reason. Adafruit Industries has given me purpose and reason to continue. I am not worthless nor useless even though I've been put out to pasture. I feel welcome at Adafruit and appreciated for some help I've been able to provide to others in this community. With that said, I am going to learn how to make tutorials and learning guides so I can help more people in more ways then I've ever been able to do.
That is my New Years Resolution.

@arctic elk Yes. Yes, they are. They and the company. Amazing people.
@arctic elk I have a few related goals for next year, and have started executing on them already. Next year will continue and build on what I’ve started over the last few months.
The thing is, is that they're not amazing people: everyone is.
They just put it into motion. As anyone ever could have. 😉
Just show me one non-primate that could do all this stuff we do.
@arctic elk Couldn't agree more with your accolades for Adafruit. They welcome everyone and value each person unconditionally, encouraging kindness as the currency of the community. The people of Adafruit and the community accepted me as-is and reinvigorated my interest in making. They gave me the opportunity to participate and learn and contribute. I’m looking forward to seeing your guides. Given your background, they are bound to be interesting and informative! (BTW, with Adafruit’s help, I authored two learning guides and am now inspired to write a couple more. You’ll enjoy the process and the results.)

I just got to say that I never would have thought all this up. Especially, how to fund it. Who'd a thought there was a market?
I think that Adafruit has taken important strides towards doing for hardware what the GPL has done for software.

truly moved by anyone to answer, however I am so impressed and proud to know
that Lady Ada exists. Unfortunately I have let some people get under my
skin, discouraging me from doing the things that make me happy (programming,
carpentry and electronics) that I never met my full potential. I didn’t have
any person to reinforce the idea that it was okay for me to be me and I
dimmed my light to make others more comfortable. I feel like I am stronger
knowing you exist. I guess what I am saying is thank you for existing

I wanted to say a huge “thank you” for making your perma-proto boards, as well as for including a free one for orders over a certain value. I’ve been burning the midnight oil the last few days, trying to finish a Christmas
present for my 1 1/2 year old nephew, who I’ll be seeing today, at the far end of a 4 hour drive.
I had to do so much rework on it when the initial design failed. If I’d tried to do that on the usual breadboards I use, I would have pulled traces up countless times, and had to rebuild the circuit on a new board. With the Adafruit perma-proto board, I was able to do SO much rework (vacuum desoldering tool for the win) without pulling up a single trace! As far as I’m concerned, these boards are worth their weight in gold.
In the end, I was finishing last minute assembly this morning before we left to see my family, after a 7 hour overnight print on my printrbot. Without the perma-proto, I don’t think I would have had time to finish this.
A big thank you to everyone at Adafruit. You have great products, great support, and you’ll make one 1 1/2 year old very happy today.

I just wanted to thank you for the prompt service on my order, and the extra freebies of the Trinket and Trinket Pro!
My old Arduino Uno + CC3000 got consumed by a WiFi porchlights project, and so getting the Trinket and Trinket Pro got me back in business with experimenting again quickly!
Plus, it has been so much fun working with the Led Light strips! I’m replacing some old halogen under-cabinet (where the bulbs died every month or two!) with these awesome strips, and hooking them up to my SmartThings home setup so that we can control them from our phones. Your guide on the Led Strips has been super helpful, and I was able to get everything wired up on my breadboard in no time flat.

Dear Adafruit,
yes, this message begins with a huge thank you for all you are doing. Yours is a wonderful project!
Second, I just wanted to let you know that we’ve been using some of your parts in a junior high school project aimed at increasing ethnic and gender diversity in STEM education/careers. Our “renewable energy cell phone rechargers” combine part of your “USB, DC & Solar Lipoly Charger” with a circuit our students build on a mini-breadboard. Their project for the rest of the semester is to explore different sources of renewable energy they can tap into to possibly get their cell phones “off the grid.”
You’ve served as a fantastic resource in this endeavor, so we wanted to send you a heartfelt thank you.

easy it is to edit and test code fast. Her GitHub has several great examples
to show how to use the various sensors and devices on the Circuit Playground
Express.
The last part of the workshop was combining different things to create a
touch enabled, light up organ. Fun!
Thanks to Adafruit for donating the boards so we can try more things at

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for designing the MAX4466 board with such robust supply noise rejection.
I’ve been working on a project for a few months now. It’s a wall-sized realtime audio spectrum display, and I’ve spent lots of money and time designing and building it. Countless hours cutting and welding aluminum, vacuforming polycarbonate lenses, routing traces in eagle cad, pulling and soldering a few hundred feet of wire, etc… It has been intense and the piece goes on display in two weeks.
Up to this point I had been programming the µc on a breadboard with normal leds, which was working fine, but the actual project needs to be bright, so it uses 49 10w leds and constant-current drivers. These are all switched via shift-registered tip122 transistors with a 12v supply, and the same supply feeds a 5v regulator on the µc board. The switching is noisy, and when I plugged in the spark fun electret breakout (part# BOB-09964) I had been prototyping with, I almost had a stroke because the output signal looked like a horrible jagged mess of ramps and periodic ringing. The project had turned into a satanic feedback matrix that was emitting a train of chaotic incomprehensible transients.
I was about to give up and cry myself to sleep, but I realized I had a MAX4466 board in my drawer, and plugged it in just to make sure I’d tried everything. The project started working flawlessly. There was no noise in the audio at all! I can’t begin to describe the feeling of relief that I felt upon plugging it in.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the engineering that went into that great little board.
Cheers,
Cooper

Please take a moment and thank everyone there at Adafruit for doing what you’re doing. In 1969 when I built my first electronic project (audio oscillator using a 2N107 transistor) I had to buy the parts at a local TV repair parts shop. The shopkeeper, seeing the 12 year old kid come into his store, told me to get lost, but after a minute or two I convinced him I was actually there to buy something. Fast forward to 1980 and I could buy my 74xx TTL, Z80’s EPROMS and SRAMS and other electronics surplus via mailorder from places like Poly-Packs, JDR Microdevices, Jameco Electronics, et cetera; and after waiting a few weeks for the paper order form to make it to them and the parts to make their way back to me, I could power-up the Apple ][, dive into the chip data-books, heat-up the soldering iron and start building. Now fast forward to today; the miracle of Adafruit, Arduino (and the like) and the internet lets you not only buy the parts on-line with a few mouse clicks, but there are how-to’s, videos, schematics, sample code, and many other support resources. I feel very lucky to be alive in these times. The Maker Youth of today have a very bright future; hold on for the ride, the next 30 years are going to take your breath away.

I wasn’t exactly sure where to send this, but I still felt it needed to be sent. My senior design team and I have been working around the clock since the beginning of January. We designed and built from scratch a semi-autonomous card dealing robot. By the end of the semester, we had a fully-functional prototype capable of nearly all the physical actions and game management abilities of a human card dealer. I’m writing to thank all of you at Adafruit for your invaluable tutorials and terrific products. No one on the team had used Arduino before, and only a few of us had much coding experience. We would not have been able to accomplish what we did without those! Additionally, the vast majority of our electronic hardware came from you (V2 motorshields, LCD screen and backpack, buttons galore). Besides being just simply terrific products, the tutorials on how to use them were absolutely invaluable to us. Speaking personally, I know I will remain a loyal supporter and patron of your company, and I’m positive my team mates will too. Here is a link to a video we threw together to capture our work over the past months and a demonstration of our prototype (https://youtu.be/zfQ_hifbcZw ). Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Luke

You guys are awesome. I've been off and on into electronics for over 20 years (currently "off" at the moment due to living situation, and no place for a tech bench) The stuff you have for sale gives me plenty of ideas for design for when I do get back into it. I really want to do something with those LED matrices. Keep up the fantastic work!

Dear Ladyada (Ms. Fried):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the AMAZING tutorials that your company provides. Your employees provide stellar examples and empower us (the end user) to be able to easily follow along. The concise instructions makes it easy to understand how to use the items. These examples also plant seeds of creativity for extending and creating new projects, because we are given the knowledge on how it works.
I especially want to thank Tony D, on his STELLAR tutorials, especially the recent three part series on the “Raspberry Pi talking to WIFI ‘Things’”.
His tutorials are clear, easy to follow and provided many insights as to why you want to code in a particular way, including explaining some of the pitfalls. His easy style, programming skill and past experience is clearly conveyed to the end user. I love his examples because he takes the time to explain why he is coding in a certain way.
Having previously been a developer (pre WEB), I am learning so much by following along in his coding examples. I can’t wait for new tutorials from him. I could easily see him being a formal instructor on learning Python or web based coding.
Best Wishes
…Paul

I sent a message already about how great Adafruit is, but here is another for the mail bag
I have been primarily a programmer for awhile and that’s what I have been interested in since high school. I didn’t have an interest in hardware or electronics as much because I had no idea about any of it. Along came the Raspberry Pi and I saw electronics projects then learned about the Arduino and how you can do all sorts of neat things. Of course I found Adafruit when searching around. My wallet may not thank you because I bought so many things, hundreds of dollars of electronics stuff and then a 3D printer because you inspired me to get into these things. But, I think it was all worth it
Through your tutorials and watching the Show and Tell, Ask an Engineer and 3D Thursday every week, I have been inspired to work on projects. The videos by Collin have made me not scared to try and learn how to solder and tinker with electronics. My parents saw that I was into this and handed down a 20+ year old Weller Soldering Iron that still works.
Thanks Neo and Pedro for responding to my questions on the 3D Hangouts videos. Because of your videos, responses and your discussion I got into the world of 3D printing, which has been both a rewarding as well as challenging and frustrating adventure, but your provided a resource that reassured me that everyone has been through these challenging moments, even those with experience.
I don’t think any other companies are as involved with the community as well as Adafruit. You are able to sell your products because you know that people will buy them because of the projects and tutorials you provide and you have people who will respond to your customers who are interested in them. No need for any other kind of advertising.
Thanks again,
Byron
I am Really Loving @twin frigate's new book Getting Started with Adafruit Circuit playground express. the examples are so easy to do (especially with the make code examples) and the writing is so well done. Congratulations: on a awesome book.

Massive hug report to all the Adafruit team members and community that came to Maker Faire in NYC this weekend! Meeting up in the morning was a highlight of the day, and seeing you at my talks was so awesome, thanks so much for the support and cheers. Extra thanks to @gentle verge and @golden crag for coordinating and @solemn coral for the best pins ever. Let's do it again next year!

I appreciate all they do, their excellent customer services and just being all around awesome. I highly recommend you look to Adafruit for all your Maker needs. And no, I was not paid for this, just wanted to share an honest review of a great company.

I didn’t see a way to make a general comment, but I bought quite a few things to build a robot for my daughters that plays music. In general, all of your products kick butt, but that mp3 music shield is awesome. I built a robot for the garage that plays my music (roams around). I got my 8 & 4 year old daughters interested and they are gonna help me build the “princess” bot. Keep up the great work.

Hello Adafruit,
So I’ve been wanting to share this story about how I got connected (or maybe addicted haha) to Adafruit. I was helping my 14 year old daughter Vicky with her school science project a few months ago (monitor plant/soil moisture and automatically water as needed using only solar power) and bought an Arduino Uno starter kit from Amazon. All seemed to be going well and we were working thru learning enough about Arduino to get the project going. The most painful part was getting an LCD going to display live information. Sadly the LCD was also purchased on Amazon and there was no support or instructions to get it working. No problem, I’m a network engineer and I’m used to figuring things out…..so as I put my google-fu to work I keep finding Adafruit…in many libraries….tutorials….everywhere. So I start looking around on the site and buy a few items….see the cool looking lady with the pink hair here and there. I tend to be fairly tunnel visioned when working out technical issues so didn’t realize for at least 2 months that this was a female owned company! How cool is that? The initial motivation for learning this stuff was to encourage my daughter to learn engineering skills and here I am buying products to teach her from a female engineer owned company without even realizing it. BTW – science project got a full 100% grade. Can’t wait to get Vicky going on the soon to start AdaBox!
THANK YOU for being you Adafruit! I love the “learning site with a gift shop” way of doing things. The tutorials have definitely made learning a wide range of technologies incredibly easy and provide just the right amount of foundation to go make whatever we want with the products.
BIG THANKS to Tony D as well! Loved the “wifi things” series and now micropython!

I want to give a hug report to everyone that went ahead and messaged us about the pm spammer this morning. It's easy to just ignore something like that, but reporting that ensures that things like that can't spread. And it protects people who are a little too trusting to strangers on the internet - For a discord here, my immediate thought is younger people, but the stereotypical target of such things are the elderly that aren't familiar with such things.
I also want to give a hug report to @vital yoke for his very good message in #general-tech on the appropriate response for such things.

Hi there!
I’m dad to a 2 year old. While he can’t quite work on electronics projects
with me yet, he LOVES watching the weekly New Products videos. Every time
Lady Ada comes on and sings “new new new!”, he sings along with her.
My fiancée bought me an Adabox as a gift. I brought it in, and before
opening it, my son saw the Adafruit logos all over it. He snatched it away,
and started running around yelling, “new new new! New New new New! New New
New!”
I managed to get the contents out of the box, but the actual box everything
came in? It’s for the big Adafruit logo on it, so it’s now my 2 year old
son’s New New New box!
Just thought you guys might enjoy the story!

I literally owe my life to AdaFruit. As a Vet and for over 30 years, a
variety of PTSD has not been good to me. The past 5 years in retirement,
mindless challenges, and no way to apply positive thinking seemed to be a

To Mr, and Mrs. LadyAda,
First and foremost, I would like to say I very much appreciate you and all the things that you do. By the fact that Mrs. Lady Ada who just happens to be a very talented woman get enough recognition. And I don’t think that you get all the recognition the you should get.
I would also like to point out that I love the diversity that you have in your company. The diversity the I mention is that of women and men of different cultures. I appreciate that you all took a conscious effort to achieve this. This shows a big part of what Adafruit Industries is all about. I know that ‘Making’ transcends a lot of that but I just wanted you to know that I notice and its one of the many reasons why I will continue to support you all.

Couldn’t find anywhere to simply comment and say thanks for

Great library and super easy to use and integrate into future projects. Great instructions and explanations on the implementation and use. As a former tech support person for 23 years or so, I understand the value of making technology empowering, easy, affordable, and most of all; fun! And so does Adafruit!
Please forward my highest regards to your entire team! What you are doing is important for creative advancement and understanding, both of which are vital to our collective futures!
And, for what it’s worth, it was Lady Ada and Tony D. who I made a real connection with when watching their ‘learn’ videos, or product demos. It’s been a bit over one year since I first started learning and making things with Adafruit kits and components (see below). My projects are steadily becoming more complex and sophisticated — and more technically challenging! I now have experience with the Feather family including designing an interrupt-driven arbitrary waveform generator, a music synthesizer interface, a time machine movie prop, a workshop corrosion monitor using packet radio, and my first exposure to microPython. My experience working with Adafruit products has also propelled me into designing and building custom ATTiny 85 development PCBs, MCU programmers, and yes, even some analog sound modules. These experiences have also led to greater involvement in our local maker space where I was encouraged to teach.
What’s on the horizon? Well, more Feather applications, of course, but soon I’ll expand into a couple of Pi projects. There are many more ideas in my logbook that are just waiting for my attention.
You continue to amaze me with the depth and innovative breath of your product line, support forums, and educational tutorials. The enthusiasm, dedication, and exceptional positive business philosophy of your staff clearly shine through your product line. To a person, my experience with the Adafruit team has always been stellar. Thank you for continuing to keep my creative spark alive.

Having had a serious profession for 40 years (flying commercial for A/A International), I have a tendency to speak frankly and to the point. Words matter, as they say. I have written both praise and criticism as I see it pertaining to AdaFruit products and services. I am hoping that my suggestions are taken as being non-personal and being constructive in nature and that they are helpful to your business. Generally, my experience through life tells me that people tend to reject criticism unless we have confidence in the person voicing it. That is one reason I have tried to be sure that I am just as quick to praise as to be critical. I was just reading your file on “Introducing Trinket” and this is one of those times to praise. THAT is incredible work by you and your employees.
So, thank you very much for the product AND the documentation to use it. AdaFruit is my “go-to” company for anything Arduino. Yes, I do order via Amazon Prime for obvious reasons. But, I still search for AdaFruit first. Product loyalty is difficult to attain and you all have earned mine.

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know about a pretty
cool experience I had.
I recently began supporting a local Girls Who Code club and while speaking
to the person running it she told me that the kids – in their second year –
were starting to get interested in interfacing the programs they wrote to
hardware. The kids are at several different experience/comfort levels,
mostly using Scratch. Taking that information I did some research into what
might be useful starting with the most dangerous place for my wallet and
read up on the Circuit Playground Express. Seemed like a good fit – lots of
onboard hardware to interface with and multiple languages including an
option familiar to Scratch users – and the teacher agreed so I started them
off with a few educator packs. I’m pleased to say they were a big hit; the
first evening they had a shot at the boards they had a lot of fun and (I
know this was important for me in my early days) a lot of positive
reinforcement. If you check your records you’ll see I’ve recently ordered a
bunch more (just the boards this time) because the 6 we got to try out
really aren’t enough.
So, short summary: That’s a winner of a board. Thanks for making it.

Good afternoon,
I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for the clear step by step instructions found on your site in regards to the upgrade of CircuitPython and especially on how to upgrade with the new code and all the new files for the PyPortal (Adabox 011). Being a teacher and on vacation, I am finally able to play with my Adabox 010 (NeoTrellisM4), my Adabox 011 (PyPortal) and my soon to be open (Adabox 012) (PyGamer). I’ve watched all the Adabox unboxing done by John Parks before opening my Adabox 10 and 11 boxes (I believe I started doing that with my first Adabox (08) Make Robots Your Friends and I don’t open my Adabox box before John Parks open his on YouTube, it’s hard but so far so good 😃 and since he did the Adabox 012 this week, it was hard but I was able to resist the urge of opening 012 first. So the past week, I enjoyed discovering the NeoTrellisM4 and the PyPortal. I have to admit, I really had some difficulty with setting up my PyPortal until I found your clear instructions. So thank you lady ada, John Parks, Philip Torrone and all the people involved in making Adafruit products. You are making this vacation one of the best ever.

To support your company I order primary products from ada fruit.
Please continue with your great work, I try to support you as good as I can.

Dear Lady Ada, and all you great folks at Adafruit.
As a relative newbie to this stuff, and ‘age challenged’ to boot, your products, the learning aids and assistance available to the newcomer on your site, YouTube and the fantastic libraries you have put together – is SO valuable. I just wanted to say a sincere and heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to you all for the really great stuff you do. Adafruit stuff just works out the box, as advertized.. unlike some of the cheaper stuff out there.
Well done, and please keep doing what you do so well.
Sincerely

I just wanted to drop you a note to say how awesome you are. I’ve made several orders in quick succession and they’ve all been handled flawlessly. I even placed an order on the 4th of July and (completely unexpectedly) someone packaged my order on the same day! Adafruit is just consistently fantastic. 😉

Lady Ada,
Just a note to thank you.
In my February order, I included a Solar Digital Caliper PID 3720 that you had advertised as new in the AdaFruit Store. I cannot tell you how many times I have used this superb instrument. As with everything you seem to recommend the functionality as well as the quality is top notch. I was so impressed with Star Simpson’s Circuit Classics, I sent orders to my grandchildren who had a ball putting the circuits together. Another example of a great product is the Fully Reversible Pink/Purple USB A to micro B Cable – PID 4111. Every time I insert the connector in a hard to see slot, I think of Lady Ada. Thank you for not only designing and manufacturing outstanding products, but for recognizing other products that we might use in our electronic hobby

From the forums , a totally clean build Phoenyx33 writes –
“I knew that you built your various boards including the Grand Central to take a lot… I just found out how much they can take. I just moved to a new apartment and I was washing all my laundry that had been packed in one of the boxes. The washers here are front loading and the doors lock until the cycle is complete. Shortly after I started one load I heard ‘clanking’ of something hard hitting the glass. I about died when it paused and I saw my recently purchased Grand Central sitting among the clothes in the washer. Needless to say I was severely bummed as I thought the board was ruined. As a prayer I set it aside and let it dry for a week. Just today I plugged in a usb cable to see what would happen. A red light flicked quickly, then the ‘on’ led lit and the RGB led started pulsing green. Thank you, Lady Ada and all your people there for building them so well!”

I have a son and 3 daughters. My son is about to be 10 and we’ve done a few kits together (a couple from your site and a couple more based on the Amazing tutorials you folks write). Thank you for the level of education you sneak in beside the “Wow! This is aweosme!”.
More importantly, I wanted to directly thank Ms. Fried. My eldest daughter is 7, and she loves math. I have recently shown her this site and several videos from it to show her that girls who like math and science can stick to it and do amazing things.
Thank you for being a role model to a little girl in Canada that her dad can be ok with. Hopefully she learns to solder well faster than her brother did.

Thank you for your fast service. Your website is “geek

powering my RPi3 — lightning bolt on screen during boot and operations. A
quick interWebs search pointed me to the issue (under power) and your
website specifically pointed out which part (1995) I needed. I ordered what
I needed and some other stuff on the 20th and it all arrived on the 21st.

Hi, my name is Cameron and I just want to say you guys
have totally gotten me out of somewhat of a rut I’ve been in for the past
couple years. Your website, your videos (especially your how-to’s and
educational ones) have really lifted me up and gotten me back into a
creative mindset. I’m learning again, I’m reading and experimenting again,
and most importantly I feel like my self again. I’ve set up a pretty sweet
“maker shop” in my office complete with some Adafruit parts and tools, and a
3D printer. I think this is a very scary and unsure time for a lot of people
like me, and what you guys do at Adafruit is truly inspiring. I love that
you actively and openly support of women in engineering/science/math/etc and
the LGBTQ+ community. Sometimes I feel like some companies kind of
marginalize us or forget about our group, but Adafruit doesn’t!
Anyway, thanks so much for snapping me back to myself, getting me active and
thinking and making again! Thank you for your support of ALL men, women, and
children who have a shared love of technology and engineering. Maybe I’ll
see you on a live stream one day!

Customer service is outstanding at Adafruit!
These products are very difficult to implement for a novice such as my self. I started with a soldering issue, and moved up to a very difficult software issue. While documentation for all products like this could use improvement, a responsive support team at the selling company helps significantly. My problem involved writing data,in CSV format, from a sensor to the SD card. After many ill-fated attempts, I contacted Adafruit – they responded within 24 hours, and over a period of several days, we successfully got the system working. That is writing my data to the SD along with Date & Time stamp. To achieve that required programming skills beyond my level and I’m grateful to Adfruit’s customer service.

Merry Christmas Adafruit.
Just recently I pulled out a couple of MintyBoost kits my son and I decided
we were going to finish once and for all. I printed the instructions on

my procrastination or inability to complete things, it made me think once
again about how glad I am for Adafruit.

hope that there are smart, hard working people who will find a way to run a

Hi, i have installed Arduino IDE 1.8.10 on an Raspberry Pi 4 under Buster with the latest Updates! I have installed the latest Arduino SAMD From Board Manager! When i install the latest Adafruit SAMD from Board Manager, then i always get Compile Errors with the Blink-Sketch! If i use a older Version of Adafruit SAMD it works. It look like a Problem with the path, because it is looking for a arduino15 folder, which does not exist on the pi. The Problem with the older Version of Adafruit SAMD is that i get compiling errors with the tensorflow examples. The arcadia examples are working! Many thanks for help!

1.3" TFT Display with Metro Mini
by Klankster on 22 Jan 2020 05:54
I just had to comment about how awesome your hardware is -- I've been involved in hobby electronics for over 50 years and just recently found out about your company -- it seemed almost too good to be true that I could pick up a tiny computer and TFT display for such a low price and I was super skeptical about how well they would work.
Well, I just spent about 20 minutes hooking up the Metro Mini and a 1.3" 240x240 TFT display on one of my breadboards and programming it to run the simple demo with the Arduino IDE -- it was crazy how simple it was to get working and to start customizing!
My hat's off to the Adafruit team -- this makes electronics tinkering so much more accessible -- I wish that hardware this cool had been available when I was a kid!

Just received my first order from the Adafruit website.
Shipping was extremely fast to the other side of the United States. I picked
up some heat-shrink tubing a couple of Adafruit designed breakouts and some
stickers to put on the back of my laptop. I was amazed at the size of the
breakouts (as small as a dime) and the extremely high quality of the items.
This is going to work great for my projects. The icing on the cake is the
great documentation and examples that I can find on the adafruit website. I
will definitely be ordering some more things for my future projects. Because
of the tutorials and shared libraries, I’ve been able to get my projects up

more projects

to say it’s your best product to date. I’ve been using the Circuit

The Circuit Playground Express is a big leap forward by adding support for

design, prototyping, and art. That is after all the overall goal, design and
make cool stuff.

From a customer:
I wanted to give you some specific feedback about the guide, but had to set up sound for a jam session this afternoon. First of all, you broke down a rather complex build into very logical and digestible steps. Even if someone hadn’t planned to build the entire project, there are enough technical nuggets in there to apply to other projects. Second, the front panel design was very intuitive and would be easy to learn with a little practice. The build was very clean; I liked the way you organized the wires into bundles and groups. Made it easier to understand and ultimately, to troubleshoot.
And finally, in your workshop sessions and learning guides, I usually pick up on at least one fabrication/making hint that I haven’t considered before. The technique you use to solder the rainbow jumper wires to components like potentiometers and switches is brilliant. It solves the strain relief problem I run into when cutting jumper wires to solder — the copper wire is so small and flexible compared to the insulation that it fatigues very quickly near the solder joint. I’ve tried using heat shrink tubing to strengthen the wire, but that can eventually fail with even a small amount of flexing. Leaving the wire in the crimped pin or socket keeps the stiff insulation from bending the tiny copper conductor at the joint.
I switched to silicone wire for that reason, but would prefer to use rainbow jumper wires when grouped wires are needed. What a great technique! Thanks!

It’s inspiring to see how quickly they morphed into a different focus while fully supporting all the company’s staff and associates, setting an example and placing the bar high for others to aspire to reach. They are the best of us.
And to the maker community at large for their inventive dedication and demonstrating the maker creed to learn, adapt, collaborate, and respect each other. I’m amazed at the diversity of talent both as directly applied to technology for the pandemic response, but also to foundational social needs for education, art, music, entertainment, and creating a sense of belonging for all. I am overwhelmingly humbled by the diverse scope of the community’s contribution.”

Hello Adafruit!
I’ve been interested in digital electronics since high school in the 90s,
though I never got past simple dabbling and tinkering with arduinos. I
recently discovered micropython, and it all of a sudden opened up a whole
world of opportunities for me. I code python professionally, so now that I
can use that on an MCU, it takes away a big pain point – now I can focus on
troubleshooting the hardware aspects, knowing that the software side is
fine. It was extremely challenging when both sides were a learning curve.
Anyway, I’ve been discovering the wealth of knowledge available on your
site, your excellent youtube channel, and your incredible products. I like
everything about your business, it’s truly inspiring and I’m excited to get
re-hooked on electronics knowing I’ve got such a great resource around. I
can’t wait for my 2-month old daughter to start being able to learn
electronics and science – and you guys even have kids books!!

Hey guys, Limor,
from Germany I would like to express my deepest compassion for the dramatic
events in NYC and in your whole country. The things that have happened now I
would not have thought possible in 2020 – although, I felt, I had almost
become accustomed to the grotesque face of what we consider to be a
transatlantic parallel world, which is bad enough.
Please carry on as you describe it on your landing page – …
Limor and her entire wonderful team have my highest appreciation for their
achievements so far, their great ideas, their professional approach and
their clear state of mind that is communicated to the outside world. It is
rather rare that a clear statement FROM the business is formulated FOR the
people and acted upon as you do. In my opinion, the hollow media chatter is
a very bad social disease that has to be overcome.
Yes, it is important to act now and I hope you can finally end this historic

more importantly), thank you for your promotion of science and technology to
younger generations and to all genders, is something for which I will be
forever grateful. It is because of this service and support I’ve enjoyed
with Adafruit, that I now find it difficult to inform you that I will be
greatly reducing my orders to your company.

To all the wonderful people at
Adafruit,
I don’t know where to start, there are so many great and wonderful things
I’d like to address. The one that I just worked out – Using my Pixel 2XL Cell phone to create, download and use a Circuit Playground Express. I have been fascinated with you, your company and and your products. One thing I always wanted to do was use my cell phone with Makecode and the CPX. I recently purchase two of your USB-C to Micro -B1 (I think I got that description right) P3879D cables. And voila a CPX shows up on my phone and I
can download to it!
I had been using the provided USB-C dongle that comes with the phone and an
assortment of cables. In many cases, I could see the CPX as a USB but could
not interface with it to download. I suspect that in all the junctions,
things just were not getting through. Then I saw the Ask an Engineer last
week and decided to try the short cable.
Oh man I can’t tell you how excited I was when my phone showed the
CPlayground in the notifications bar.
Now I have a “Show and Tell” to take to people that I can fit in my shirt
pocket…

You folks have no idea the shenanigans we get up to here in Oregon! Thank
you for offering this as even my Dad likes to mess with TVs, especially when
out and about. Got to the point I had to make the “TV-B-Gone blocker” for my
Mom. Mutual detente!
Anyway, I love ordering from Adafruit Industries; y’all always have the
neat, cool, and downright interesting things.

Hi. Six months ago I had an idea for a wearable electronic device, but I had no clue as to how to make on. A friend recommended Adafruit, and since then I have learned from your tutorials and I’m making new electronics projects almost every week, including a water monitoring machine for a local business. Thank you for what you do, the most valuable part about Adafruit isn’t the electronics, it’s the education that comes along with it. I love making and programming electronics now, and I would not have been able to discover that passion without you.
Thanks!

Good morning,
I read your letter regarding Covid 19 procedures at your facility and I wanted to take the time to commend you on your efforts to remain open safely. I especially appreciate the part regarding the well being and safety of your employees. The extra step of testing surfaces at your facility deserves a “gold star award”.
I have been a customer for years and just placed an order. My wife is high risk because she is going through chemotherapy, and trust your company during this strange year. I wanted you and your staff to know we appreciate what you offer and what you are doing for your staff and customers.
Thanks,

Lady Ada continues to be an awesome example of what
women can do in the STEM field and Open Source in particular. As I’ve said
before, regardless of the fact that I am a 53 year old LGBTQ+ geek, I still
want to grow up to be like Limor! I would absolutely love to be on the team
at Adafruit some time. I am always recommending you and your products to
people wanting to get into the Maker and IoT space. Please keep doing what
you are doing and opensource hardware will eventually conquer the world!
In honor of equality in the Maker movement, Phil is in no small part the
partner behind a very successful and impactfull woman that Limor is! Keep
on pushing each other and the and the staff doing your passions!

Hi, I’ve been customer for a few years. Wanted to say
thank you for the quick turn-around on my orders. You have an excellent
selection of products and I like your in-house designs (large differentiator
for you). I recently bought your metro mini and its perfect. Works great
on my solderless breadboard. Recently completed remote control project
with it. I like the blue/black color of your PCBs. Best Regards.
A quick hug for @grave sable and @quiet ridge who have been super cool and helpful about my obsessing with getting into electronic music and MIDI and synthesizers. Thank you so much!

Thank you. Your service and products are all top notch.
I am constantly in a learning mode, and having excellent products with solid
code libraries to back them up is remarkable. When in doubt, I order more
stuff, if for no other reason than to register dollar votes for your
company. I only wish you were there in 1963 when I tried to build my first
robots and started experimenting in automation. Things I struggled to do
then are just too simple and inexpensive now. I am living my greatest bucket
list item now. Again, thank you.

Hello Adafruit team,
As much as I complain online all of the time, I’m a firm believer that you
must also give credit where credit is due. Every order I have made with you
has been exactly what I order and delivered as advertised/calculated.
I thank you. It is very much appreciated.

Just want to say thank you for the free item promotion you’re running. I’ve
been working on getting my 4 year old into electronics and saw that you are
giving a Circuit Playground with large orders so am definitely all in on
this one and just made an order!
We have been watching the ABC electronics based youtube Circuit Playground
videos and he’s picking things up really well. We have snap circuits around
the house he loves playing with but your videos are really helping things
click for him. My 2 year old daughter watches him like a hawk so I’m hopeful
I’ll have a bunch of little engineers running about over the next few years.
He has been asking me about programming (I’m a rust programmer) so I’m
really excited about the way the Circuit Playground will let him quickly
build up working logic visually with the MakeCode. He has just started
getting into reading where he no longer needs our help so I think this is
going to really give him a chance to get creative. He mentioned the other
day he wanted to be a Creeper for Halloween next year and then said he
wanted to put a motion sensor on it so when kids ran by it’d make the
hissing noise even so he definitely is starting to see the big picture.
When covid hit I originally looked on your site and saw that you were unable
to send out orders because of the shutdowns but was glad to see you all
really went the extra distance and helped on the PPE front. I’m glad things
have mostly settled down with covid and will be coming back often in the
future as my son gets more into electronics. You all are awesome, keep up
the good work!

to work on it. Though it isn’t anything ground breaking, I’m still proud to
be able to call is my own. Please give my thanks to everyone at Adafruit,
you give me the tools and inspiration to make my imagination a reality :)…

Dear LadyAda and Mr. LadyAda,
I can’t thank you enough for everything you’re doing to encourage creation of hardware & software. I love how you provide practical STEM education resources which include everything a beginner needs to progress toward completing their projects.
Thanks also for your support of diversity/BLM. Racism and prejudices are endemic in our world and I appreciate your stand against them.
A woman owned and managed company provides a powerful message to young women that they can pursue and succeed in engineering and, frankly, any other field.
Thanks again,

I think the chemistry you two have is great. Your opening statements/news are refreshing, her technical presentations and demos are obviously badass, and I really like how you guys do some back-and-forth to keep things moving along.
Cheers to you both; hoping 2021 will be less trash garbage than last year, though it seems to be horrible so far.

Last year we were fortunate enough to receive a grant that allowed us to purchase pretty much the full suite of Atlas Scientific’s environmental sensors. Between their sensors and your actuators and other goodies, there isn’t a growing variable that we cannot monitor, creatively visualize, and remotely or automatically adjust.
Adafruit IO was the icing on the cake. Especially in these remote learning circumstances, the dashboards we have created allow students to continue monitoring and adjusting our grow lab even when they are not in the classroom. Here are a few screen shots of the dashboards we have created for observing variables, adjusting system parameters, and calibrating sensors.

Please pass my compliments and thanks on your designers
for the Adafruit “Music Maker” MP3 Shield for Arduino w/3W Stereo Amp. After
years of rats-nesting older MP3 shields to work with non-UNO boards, I got
to use one of your shields in a project I am doing for an artist in a
side-gig, and it really was a breath of fresh air to just solder 3 pads and
have it just work! Historically I have shied away from recommending this
type of shield to students because of the re-wirring required on the old
boards (we use Mega for lots-o-IO or Leonardos for USB-device-emulation, and
don’t have any real use for Unos here!). I will definitely be ordering a
bunch more for my faculty’s maker space (once we have some students to use
them back on campus one day!)

Thank you so much for your amazing products. I have
been trying to get my daughter interested in coding for a while now and none
of them worked. A friend of mine referred me to your Circuit Playground

she had over 5 projects created and tested in MakeCode. We just received
the CPE yesterday and the smiles on her face from seeing her coding come to
life in the CPE will stay with me forever. Thank you for an awesome
product. We are going to create the snow globe project this weekend.

Hi Adafruit team. I’ve been a fan and customer for

get the ESP32 running immediately.

Hi…just had to
write you and say thanks for your continued efforts to be open during all
the craziness. I’m a business analyst for a credit union, and recently got a

with open source hardware and coding. This is something that has always
interested me, but during the pandemic it’s just been such a joy to learn
python, build a camera for my kids, and feel empowered by technology instead
of beholden to it. I needed to pass this along because it has really changed
the way I look at my role, my future career, and a new hobby for my kids and
I to be involved in. Thank-you! The next thing we plan on tackling is
soldering…

I wanted to learn how to make my own hardware to support field monitoring
operations. On a google search, I came across your learning section, and
went from not knowing the difference between an amp and an ohm, to building
my own solar powered IOT solutions for environmental monitoring in remote
locations. I just wanted to take a minute to extend my sincerest thanks to
all your patient engineers who have helped me debug my various projects
throughout the years – you guys have made a huge impact. Thanks in large
part to example set by Lady Ada, I’m now hosting my own monthly workshops

Woot! Thanks to you for taking all the notes!!
Huge thank you to @elfin cloak and team for landing the fix for sleep timer for the MagTag. It works like a charm both connected to USB and when on battery!
And congrats on 7.1.0 rc0, of course!
glad to hear that it works for you, besides my testing 🙂
It works flawlessly in battery mode, but, I just observed some oddities when plugged in. It kept rebooting over and over again claiming it had a timer trigger. I'll do some more debugging to make sure it's not on my side.
i only tested timer, not pins
but it worked for me both plugged in and not.
test program I used:
import alarm
import board
import time
from digitalio import DigitalInOut
from neopixel import NeoPixel
np_power = DigitalInOut(board.NEOPIXEL_POWER)
np_power.switch_to_output(False)
pixels = NeoPixel(board.NEOPIXEL, 4)
if alarm.wake_alarm is None:
pixels.fill((255, 0, 0))
else:
pixels.fill((0, 0, 255))
time.sleep(1)
board.DISPLAY.refresh()
time_alarm = alarm.time.TimeAlarm(monotonic_time=time.monotonic() + 6)
alarm.exit_and_deep_sleep_until_alarms(time_alarm)```
board.DISPLAY.refresh() is there because sometimes I added print statements.
and you have to reset after unplugging to get it into real sleep instead of fake sleep
The fix for the MagTag deep sleep has made my life so much easier, I can't thank y'all enough!
Whether it was the motive or not, I’m really happy to see Adafruit bring a LiPo backpack for the QtPy which feels like a great alternative to a product that I sold for the last year or so. Unfortunately I had to close down my business so I really appreciate Adafruit filling the void with an amazing new product to truly compliment their already amazing QtPy dev boards.
The QtPy really launched my electronics design journey into a business, so a big hug and all the praise to the Adafruit team, especially Limor, Scott, Dan, and Kattni.
Thank you 🙏
I've forwarded this on!
Dear Adafruit team,
I mentioned this earlier [1] but I feel compelled to repeat it here in the hug-reports-and-mail-bag channel.
While new features are great, what makes me appreciate CircuitPython, even more, is how stable it has become.
Upgrading from 6.1 to 7.1 [2] on my pyportals has made a huge difference. Thank you so much!

Just wanted to thank @elfin cloak for some incredible help and teaching over the past week or so- so helpful.
@golden crag for https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/pull/5820#issuecomment-1024712508 And feel free to ping me if you come across any questions regarding that (family of) board(s). (Of working on the other 2 they sell)
For future reference, this channel is meant for Hug Reports (recognising the great things folks are up to in the community).
danh asked me once when I had a question on these other 2: "Is this a board you are planning to use?"... I don't have a project in mind. I just like this CP as a project. ladyada wasn't the first lady Ada, and if me making a cheap MCU slightly easier to use can plant the seed for a next lady Ada. I'm content.
I'll try to remember to ping you!
Nice 🙂
Thanks to everyone who posts pet photos. Our household has no animals and I miss having them. 🐶 😺 🐦
Massive thanks to the amazing Adafruit logistics folks who managed to get my order out to me in a very timely fashion despite the absolutely BANANACRACKERS weather the eastern half of the continent has been dealing with this past week. 💕
Thanks to @elfin cloak , Dave Putz, and @gentle verge for fixing the PDM Sample Rate bug. It saved part of my project that I has already wasted many hours trying other methods to solve.
I am now sampling a PWM microphone at 80KHz, and performing a FFT with amazing speed. This allowed me to decode the buttons on a 1950's mechanical ultrasonic TV remote!
I'd like to thank @unborn cloud for poking us moderators for clarification on something that some could find sensitive. It's really appreciated when people show they're thinking of the rest of the community.

Thanks to:
- ladyada for designing the Feather RP2040
- adafruit for sending me a pink Feather on Black Friday
- whichever adafruit elf had to program the Arduino bootloader onto a bunch of ATmega328's after I panic-bought a double handful of them 😄
Thanks for the hug report! I passed it onto the relevant folks. 🙂
Super thank you to the contributors who re-wrote a library for the ST7565 in CircuitPython. https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_ST7565/graphs/contributors
I dug the part (bought 9 years ago) out of my box and was able to easily get it up an running on a the wicked new Feather.
The part, I'm sure, has been discontinued for years, and yet these great folks helped me from having to use the old C library (and getting that toolchain working).
Thanks to @jolly finch for being so helpful in the CircuitPython channels, and more! Always around, and always providing thoughtful and helpful support to everyone who needs it. There were hug reports in the CircuitPython Weekly, but I wanted to post here as well!
Thanks to @small musk for the nvm_helper library. It was a quick and easy place to stash the baseline values for the SGP30 sensor.
@inner pagoda name dropped in hackaday article https://hackaday.com/2022/03/14/keebin-with-kristina-the-one-with-the-really-tall-keycaps/ thanks for doing projects & keeping circuitpython visible (warts and all, as with your uart problems)
Hug report from @strange turret:
I don't think I say this often enough, but I truly appreciate everything you do! Massive thanks to @elfin cloak, @small musk, @uncut hemlock, @twin lagoon, @merry void, @jolly finch, @golden crag, @fading zodiac and whomever I forgot to mention, for all your hard work with the community, CircuitPython, and all things Adafruit. Y'all are the best. ❤️
Major hug to Jessie Mae from support for checking the support inbox on a Sunday and canceling my order so I could edit it. I was not expecting that.
I have a Hug report for @midnight prairie and John Gallaugher for the recent CircuitPython show podcast episode. I teach smaller night courses for beginner programming / web development. This discussion with professor Gallaugher is quite inspiring! I hope one day to convince my school to pick up a microcontroller / CircuitPython based course.
Thanks for the kind words! It was fun talking to the professor, his love of teaching really comes through and is infectious
I've passed it on!
Hug for @golden crag for her documentation and support on the Feather ESP32 V2!
hug report for whoever handled my problems with the 4042 part. Fast and furious response times, even if the replacement part got eaten by shipping..
Sending @grave sable a big hug or two... not only are his projects fantastic, but the pick of the week with crazy discount is a really good way to highlight items. Just got some qtpy esp32-s2's shipped to the UK that I would never have bought otherwise, and with a limit of ten I got enough to give some away! 💖
Thanks much @unreal moth and very kind of you to share QT Py boards 🙂
For getting me over the 'int' hump on seesaws RotaryEncoder and neokey1x4, big hugs for @elfin cloak and @jolly finch
You heroic folks made my week. 🙇♂️
I'd like to send a hug to Carter Nelson for the excellent learn guide on tilegrid, groups, and sprite sheets for circuit python. Previously, I used 6 individual icon bmp's to make a battery gauge at 2kb per icon = 12kb. With a sprite sheet I was able to reduce it to 3kb total in 1 image. That's a 75% reduction. Not only was I able to make the battery gauge behave like I needed but also in a highly optimized filesize.
Hug to Brent Rubell who just updated the airlift featherwing learn guide yesterday with much needed json parsing examples. Also his work on WipperSnapper is amazing and looking forward to seeing it mature. Web Flow + WipperSnapper makes me very excited for the future of Adafruit.
Hug to @elfin cloak @jolly finch @hoary bolt for helping me get audio working on my bluefruit sense using pwmaudio instead of i2s (have no i2S decoder). 🔊 ❤️
Hug to whomever is responsible for the storefront coding. I contacted adafruit about a feature suggestion for the store and it was implemented in less than a week. Now cart items are saved no matter which browser you use (hopping from tablet to pc to pc) instead of being browser cache based per device. Much more enjoyable shopping experience when you can throw stuff in your cart from any device then a week later check out. 🙂
Thanks for the hug report! I'm passing this on to the appropriate team.
Hug to whoever went through and painstakingly recreated almost every adafruit part and uploaded them to GitHub so people can use them in PCB design software. I don’t even know how people have the attention span to do something like that. 😁
And same with the library for the adafruit parts
It's done over time. 🙂
🙂
Thanks for @mossy forge for the wifi.radio.tx_power PR. It works on the Wemos C3 !!
@golden crag oops, scratch that. i was mistaken. somehow i put identical items in my cart on 2 devices. it's not actually working like i thought.
Hugs, once given, cannot be retracted 😉
it'll be awkward though, yeah i'm good at awkward
Please email support@adafruit.com with the details so they can get it to our dev team. What you described has been the default behavior for possibly years, so the team was surprised that you were reporting it suddenly working that way. It may be a caching issue on your end, but it's worth letting them know exactly what you did and what you are expecting to happen, etc. Thanks!
so it's supposed to have the same items in my cart regardless of what device i'm browsing with? yeah it's never worked like that for me. if you can confirm that's how it's supposed to work then i'll shoot them an email.
If I recall correctly, sometimes I have to log out then back in to get a different device to update the cart.
i'd like to send a hug to @fair grove and @golden crag for helping me get GIT working.
An appreciative hug to @ripe lagoon for the utterly brilliant gesture code within the recent Smart Mirror with PyPortal learning guide. The background light level squelching algorithm was spot-on and provided a speedy detour around my belabored coding construction zone. Thank you!
Thank you! I’m glad it’s been helpful 😺
Hug to the whole Adafruit team for supplying makers with parts and learning material and all of this amazing stuff. I forgot how to English so i atcn yrlela irwte cmuh oemr
big hug to @jolly finch for fixing an Adafruit_GPS example to include timezone offset. I struggled for literally 2 days before asking for help.
Big hug to @drowsy shard for showing a board for a Trinket sized OLED in From The Desk. I have wanted one for ages!
hug to @elfin cloak for helping me with a custom circuit python build even though i bought a flash chip in the wrong package. 🤪
hugs for everyone involved with porting CircuitPython to the rp2040 and PIO support. I'm porting some video shenanigans I was able to make a POC in CircuitPython over to the C SDK and it's so much fiddlier
