hey.. anyone studying at bonn university for msc economics?
Omg bad news
I have to confirm this-
To apply for vpd I have to:
-submit the notarized documents (school leaving certificate, university scores, uni passing exam etc)
- Submit the cv, copy of passport
-language certificate (optional) - upload them in the website and pay 75 euro
Do I have to submit these documents via post?
Hey there fellas
Got a question bout student visa.. does an acceptance letter have to be in German or is it fine if it's in English? I got one in English and I'm not sure if uni will send one in German in time before visa interview
Have I got this right? Is there anything I'm missing?
This probably depends on the specific Ausländerbehörde and their requirements. For example, I go to Uni Potsdam and can say from experience that the Berlin Ausländerbehörde is a lot more flexible with English documents than the Potsdam one. I'd check the website of the specific one you need to go to. (If this appointment is at a consulate, I have no idea sorry)
hey does anyone know, if it's allowed to bring tropical fruits into Germany, like durian and etc
Some language schools in Germany have "university pathway programs". If you talk to them you could potentially get a conditional admission offer from a partner university and that should be enough for a visa i think
And you're usually not bound to that university. You can apply to others once you have the minimum language (and other) requirements
hi, could someone recommend me good intensive courses in mannheim besides goethe? (they are too pricey) I think abendakademie is the cheapest but idk about their quality of teaching
Is there a way to get the Abitur test in English? Or some equivalent certification? I can't exactly go back and redo high school at 23 😅.
I just need to be able to get into Studienkolleg. I can't afford american college so a 2-year degree isn't an option for me.
Yep but i already payed my language school so it’s not gonna be possible i am gonna write a letter to explain the situation to the embassy and i will try my chance i don’t have a choice
Hey i’m A2 i’m gonna start B1 next week
Abitur, Fachabitur, Ausbildung + 3 years practical work all allow you to enter University, but none of these are offered in english afaik @wanton tusk
Studienkolleg probably the best route for you (also the shortest) if your German isn't there yet, but the ones in English are typically more expensive
Same
Ich auch
i google about it and depending on which country you´re from it´s different. For most non EU countries it´s almost impossible for people to bring fresh fruits/ plants since there the fruits might go bad during the long flight and also there are risks to bring different types of insects etc. into the country. So they´re very strict on this. If you want to bring a certain plant check for a "phytosanitary certificate" if you´re allowed to bring it with you. Also if you really wanna bring fruits consider getting a certificate for it since they surely will be checking that in customs (!!) once you arrive in germany at the airport-- only bring the fruits- no leaves of the plants- since more risks of insects etc. - they might still take your fruit though since it could have gone bad during your travel so yeah- hope it could kind of help also i read that a sign „Fumigated & Inspected“, on the fruits or plants is not enough as an evidence you need a certificate for it. her eis the offical website for more information- please check thoroughly https://www.zoll.de/EN/Private-individuals/Travel/Entering-Germany/Restrictions/Animals-and-plants-products-containing-animal-or-vegetable-substance/Protection-against-animal-diseases/Provisions-on-the-import-of-animal-products/provisions-on-the-import-of-animal-products_node.html
also you can get durian over here in some supermarkets depending on the city/region you´re gonna be staying/living in there will be more or less. So reconsider if you really want to take durian with you or buy it over here.
B1 NICHT SO SCHWIERIG
thanks for the reply! Durians sold in Germany just dont taste as good. Haha
That's why i thought it'd be great if i could bring some from home
sure ! ahh i ge it ! Well check throughly on website 🙂
does anyone know how hard/(un)likely it is to get the daad masters scholarship?
I am currently aiming for a master's program in German. Let's say I graduated from not one of the top unis. What are my chances at finding a job at Germany?
I mean I haven't been in your situation but Germany requires skilled immigrants for their economy to function atm so if you got a decent degree then probably wouldn't be that difficult
I want to lean German and travel for studying but iam afraid from the cost of living iam not that rich for 300 Euro each month
Any solution
i'm in the same situation, i'm here in berlin doing a sprachkurs and im planning on apply these current year for studiekkolleg
May I know how hard is A2 compared to A1 in the scale from 1-10?
it probably depends partially on what country you're from bc that affects how much competition you have. But in my experience they give out a pretty decent number of those scholarships, so it's not super unlikely regardless.
A2 is easier
For me A1 it’s like 3/10 and A2 4/10 or 5/10 it’s easy
Good day, I want to apply for the T-Kurs in a Studienkolleg but I have some questions about my situation;
I am 19 years old and I’ve been living in Germany for the last 1,5 years. I already have a diploma for my Turkish Gymnasium which is listed on the Anabin website but it‘s not a direct equivalent to the Abitur and seen as an Einzelfallentscheidung. Right after we came here, I started a Sekundarschule and graduated last school year, I‘m now in a Gymnasium.
Here’s what I’ve gathered about the Studienkollegs in my area, you need to prove your German level, at least b1, which is no problem for me. You need to have finished high school in another country, which I have as well.
What’s bothering me is that I have graduated a Sekundarschule with an equivalent to the „Realschulabschluss“ last year and started a Gymnasium and I’m currently in 10th grade again. Even though the only „Abitur equivalent” diploma that I have is the Turkish one, do you think that me graduating from the Sekundarschule might be a problem?
Sorry again for the specific answer, if you know of any other places where I could get help, I would appreciate it greatly
Best regards
someone doing bachelors in germany pls dm me
How easy is it for an American to get into a master's program in Germany?
pins
daad.de should have most if not all the info you need. A lot of programs in English too if you're not yet comfortable with your german. Unis have their own requirements but they're usually similar.
greetings
would anyone here happen to know where i can obtain sample tests for the digital TestDaF?
I'd like to practice a bit but i've finished the 1 sample test that TestDaF provides
Moin. Studiert jemand hier an der TU Dortmund? Ich hab einige Fragen
the Prüfungstraining books and other similar ones would have it
Is anyone applying/studying at rosenhein hochschule or duisberg Essen university
The foreigner's office in my city sent me an email with the documents required for a student residence permit. One of the documents is proof of proper participation in the course. I am a first semester student, how can I prove that to them?
Once you're enrolled you should be able to get a document proving you're enrolled, called a Studienbescheinigung. I assume that's what this refers to?
nah other than that
because that is also required
Hallo zusammen, I recently confirmed the renewal of my employment contract with a German firm and now that the border is not as "airtight" as last year, I have the opportunity to move to Germany. Can you give me some advice on some necessary administrative processes?
I've spent one year in Germany a few years ago, but that was as a student, so the conditions were different.
For example, do German companies legally have to provide employees with some advantages, like participating in financing public transport or housing costs?
Can someone explain the visa process for bachelors
Hellos, just wondering
I be traveling to Berlin and gonna have very limited budget. The currency rates are very high as compared to Singapore where I'm from. Does anyone have advice?
hola
practicing for the digital TestDaF, and there is this section in the hören teil where we need to listen to people and write their arugment down
only thing im clueless about is what would go in forderung and what in argument?
considering Herr Kruse has a massive forderung
also idk what a forderung is or what they want me to put in the forderung/arugment sections
guys an international student who has finished their Bachelor in Germany and has got admitted to a masters , how do we renew our visa again to study for the masters in Germany ?? also do we have to open a block account again for our masters degree as well ?
forderung is what they said and argument is why, i.e herr kruse meint, Schullnoten seien leicht zu verstehen, da sie einen schnellen Überblick über die Leistung geben. Each of the other words/sentences separated by a | are other forderungen, that he justifies with the same argument.
aso
In my testdaf we usually wouldn't have questions like these, they'd ask you to list one or two arguments, or a couple of reasons. Mostly just one or the other, not both.
Hello everyone! I'm planing to move to Germany in may. I was wondering if any of you can help me or have experience with renting. I'm trying to find an apartment in Berlin (Wg auch) but I'm really lost about what do I need to successfully rent an apartment and how to get some of the requirements when I first arrive in germany. For example I've seen that people ask for prove of payment in Germany which I of course don't have. I want to study in germany but to apply to Studienkolleg I need to take a language exam in germany(havent found one in my contry) and also pass the entrance exam. So I will not have a prove of study until September or December. I don't need a visa since I am an Eu citizen but I've lived in Peru my hole life and my mother also works here. (She will be paying the rent hahaha) Please let me know if you've been through the same or if you have any advice. Thanks in advance!!
Du hast ihn auf Deutsch beantwortet.😫
Weißt du ob er was du geschrieben hast versteht?

Oh...toll.
Stimmt.

I have a question, if you know about this...
The Ausbildung
It's only for Germans??

mal sehen
Ok
...
But I'm not an enterprise or businessman, I say rich you know
If I go to apply for that visa example
Thx for the recommendations
I am currently doing an Ausbildung if you have questions
how was the interview with the company?
How can i get ausbildung
like any other interview would go i imagine, worked there for a day afterwards as Probearbeit
you need to secure an Ausbildungsvertrag with a company, which will then allow you to register at the Berufsschule
wtf
Just finished the TestDaF
Anyone know what it takes to get a TDN 4 for speaking?
Like I talked and had arguments throughout but idk if that'll cut it

hi, are lift clubs a thing in germany? I want to apply to TU darmstadt but I'll be staying in mannheim, a bit far from the main train station. there's no way I could do a 2 hour long commute via public transport everyday. is it worth it to even apply? :(
hey guys
i wanted to ask if any of you has studied or even lived in Saarbrücken before
@olive summit hey man. did you start applying when you already had a b2 cert or lower?
I'm applying to West saxon hochschule at zwickau for bachelors this year and they want B1 certificate, i have asked them if i can submit the certificate of participation first and then submit the official certificate later, they said I can. Assuming if i submit the documents, correctly on time then will i get conditional admission based on this?
I actually don't have any certificate, technically B1 is required for the visa but I was never asked for it.
maybe i know what qualifications you had and your grades?
german equivalent that is
I have my A2 cert and planning on getting b2 at the end of this year
so i could start an ausbildung next year September
I'll also have an abitur equivalent...
I only have an American high school diploma, I went to uni but never finished. Some Ausbildung don't require an Abitur.
that's true.
the IT field is getting a bit demanding though... 😅
unless your experience was different?
for IT and stuff in Medicine it usually requires an Abi
well Landwirtschaft is quite different I would say
in any case the process is largely the same: Apply at a company -> if hired they use the contract to register you at the Berufsschule
what about visa procedures?
were you able to go to germany much earlier before the starting date?
you use the Ausbildungsvertrag to obtain a visa
I was already here at the time so it made the process a lot easier, was able to visit multiple farms
thanks for the information :)
no problem
the Agentur für Arbeit website should have a lot more information which will be relevant to you
What do "zulassungsbeschränkt" and "zulassungsfrei" mean? What is the difference between a limited admission study program and an open admission study program?
zulassungsbeschränkt means that theres only a certain number of places so the access is limited by an NC, so u have to have a certain GPA or pass an entry exam to get in
zulassungsfrei means that as long as u submit ur application correctly and meet the basic requirements u will get in
Thanks a lot
no problem
hey
so im going to Saarbrücken for Erasmus and have some questions about monthly costs of living there, if anyone got any idea. I searched for information on the internet but looks like it's a little bit complicated
@green jolt from what I heard its a more smaller and less diverse town fjdjd but cheap
Is it good for youths tho?
@green jolt you'll have to research yourself
tho I do know unlike berlin/München or the big cities Saarland is like uh
like the least famous brother
I suppose that won't be so important as I'm going to focus on studies
haha then that's your answer
🤣
How's the entry exam?
ive never taken one
I see.
I really wanna get a PhD position in Germany
Good living fees, and an opportunity to work part-time.
Learning German isn't easy tho lol
Its easy if you accept its isnt easy. Dont ask how long it took for me to speak English. XD
Does anyone here know about Schengen visa? I have a question.
Can I travel to the X country with a visa got from the Y country embassy?
(Both X and Y are among Schengen)
like If I get a Schengen visa from France embassy, can I travel to Germany with it?
working part time during your phd is kinda crazy 😉
is working part time while doing your bachelor's degree really possible
in germany that is
like physically possible
yes. you can travel whole schengen area.
Yes all of the Schengen area, there are no border controls between Schengen states
There may be unrelated region specific Corona regulations however so keep an eye out and plan your moves
I'm crazy lol
I need to subscribe to a Krankenkasse for my job, as I'm about to move to Germany, but I have no idea what to choose. Are there health care agencies you would advise against? I need a Mitgliedbescheinigung and a Sozialversicherungsausweis. I come from an EU country, if that makes any difference.
If the phd is In the hard sciences I would heavily caution against it. A lot of students barely finish their phd as is.
Most statutory insurance is more-or-less the same is my understanding. I've been happy with TK so far and they're def one of the better ones if you need customer service in English. My German friends on AOK also seem satisfied.
Thanks for the info!
True lol.
Guess I gotta get a nice scholarship.
Hey Guys I have a question, I keep hearing that some federal states have easier abitur, is this actually true? Like is there a trustful source that says this is the case? If so could I go to the easiest bundesland for abi an then get into a harder university or is there a catch ?
Hey leute, I'm planning on taking a summer trip to Germany in June to improve my German language skills to ~B2 proficiency, I want to work through the Goethe Institut but they require at least 9 people to take the class, with a max of 16 people. I plan on doing the German in the Evening course that begins on the 7th of June. I am the only person involved right now so I'm looking for others who would like to take the course as well, but for whatever the reason, are unable to individually. We would split the bill for the class between us its 750 Euro so ~850 USD in total, or ~84 Euro or 95 Dollars between 9 people. I'm gonna be staying with my friend over the summer so I don't intend on the group staying in the same place. If this isnt the correct place to put this I apologize. I am willing to change which course we're taking as long as its between June and Mid July. My DMs are open but I might take a while to respond, as I am splitting most of my time between school and gathering funds for my trip as is.
I think that's a myth ... the final exams are the same in the whole country
no
they’re definitely not the same
i mean definetely on the federal level, and they are somewhat similar between states
similar maybe, but not the same
kinda, for some subjects (math, german, english) there is a pool of questions and every state submits a few and then the states can pick a subset of these questions for the final examns. This is gonna be extended for more and more subjects.
yet in some states u dont even have to pick certain classes like math while other require u too like bavaria
still pretty different
do Germany reject student visa if you have low grades even after getting admission from an university ?
no they don't
as you have admission it's fine
but you need high grades to get it imo
my friend he already got admission from a hochshule
actually he got admission from couple of unis those are open admission programs and he got through , he has the language qualifications and all its just that his abitur marks are not very high , dudes scared now whether they would reject his visa due to low grades compared to others ,you know what I mean ,,,, but I hope not because even the block account money has been wired ,,, so they don't reject student visa like that right ?
https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/visa-service/visabestimmungen-node maybe this website and their articles can help you and your friend out- best of luck for him
thanks mate
anybody who has a similar experience?
Hey, who knows the IT jobs in demand in Germany
all of them
Really?
an offer of admission is your way to get a visa, that alone is enough. Besides, the University reviews your marks not the ABH.
does anyone have experience with UK (bachelors) grade conversion using the bavarian formula?
i'm wondering if they take the letter grade you got in the course or the numerical grade
the numerical grade conversion seems weird because getting a first-class (70%) would only convert to a 2,5 on the german scale 🤔
it won't matter as long as you have passed according to whatever the grading system you have ..
it does for courses that have a selection process based on your grades :P
for the course i'm looking at at TUM it would be the difference between 15 points (if they count letter grades) and 0 points (if they counted numerical average):
well then be in contact with TUM cause uni assit did not made any changes for me when I applied with a BTEC (UK) bachelors. ofcourse the unis you're applying to convert it to the german grading system but no such difference or change was made for me perhaps it's contrasting from uni to uni
isn't a BTEC a high-school level qualification?
lol no do your research.
i study in the UK... "BTEC" means a level 2 or a level 3 qualification (= high school)
unless you mean B.Tech., which aren't awarded in the UK
BTECH
I'm not from uk
and you said "BTEC (UK) bachelors" :P
what's the marking for a BTech? is it the same as a UK one i.e. numerical marks + an honours classification?
lol missed a H but I actually did btech as well and then top up for the degree
what do you mean by it is same as the uk? yes it is + honours and enough to get into university in any country even Germany. first I was told btech leading degrees and top ups aren't accepted in germany but it's not correct
so how did they convert your marks in the end?
this specifically says Bavaria formula by TUM so things might not be the same , they let me know via email that grades will be covered into the german grading system this was after getting accepted to few unis and not much was changed as in my grades were not reduced or anything , it was just fine. tbh I didn't dig too deep into it because I was doing just fine with unis I wanted to yah
ah, alright. thanks :)
yes that's what I thought.. uni offer letter , financial stability should be solid enough right ? but then there are instances which they reject student visas as well even with all the requirements ? do you think the country we are applying plays a role in them rejecting visas , specially 3rd world countries ???
Yes it does, even if you meet the requirements your application might be rejected. There might be a limited quota for certain countries but im not sure.
reallyy??😢 do you know anyone who has gone through a similar experience ?
Hallo Zusammen,
Hallo, was möchtest du an der RWTH studieren?
Anyone have experience with Studienkollegs?
I'm looking to apply to Studienkollegs, do I need to write letters of recommendation for them? If yes, then should they be in German or English.
If I'm applying via uni assist, I have to apply for a bachelor's course first which often requires a LOR.
In England, it is customary to walk on the left when in a narrow corridor/going up stairs/etc. presumably because we drive on the left, is this the same in Germany? Is it customary to keep to one side, and if so, which one?
Links gehen, rechts stehen.
Ah, no, you keep to the right.
On escelators you stand on the right and walk on the left when going in the same direction
What's the process of studying abroad in Germany if you have a syrian passport and live in the UAE? I heard that its different from EU citizens applications
btw, if anyone happens to know about how it goes with state service jobs regarding laws, please feel free to answer
Jaaa, daanke! :)
that really depends on what kind of job you're doing. for basically all positions that are "higher up", you'll need a profound knowledge of the law because it is necessary and required (by law) to know what you're allowed to do and how you justify your actions
die Ausbildung Verwaltungsfachangestellter takes 2-3 years (can be cut down when you've certain degrees already, how much depends on the Bundesland) and is base for working for any goverment agency in a leading position, afaik
ofc, you might be able to lead a team of, say, computerengineers but you will always have a boss above you who has this kind of knowledge unless you have a Ausbildung/Studium in the right field
then again, when you already have a job @ the authorities, it'll usually made pretty easy for you to do further training, they also encourage this. But since you'll be facing some really serious German C2 Level stuff that is even hard for (smart) natives, better make sure that your german is really fuckin' good otherwise you'll suffer xd
you'll be expect to read the law and write Gutachten that hold up in court by the end of your Ausbildung
guys can I know ,if we de register from an uni after studying few semesters , do we get a certificate or anything stating we have studied those particular semesters or do we just get a certificate saying we have de registered?
I'm looking for agencies that help look for a flat/flatsharing in Germany, but can only find very specific ones, like for Seniors or Alzheimer patients. Do you know some that simply help you find an apartment/flatsharing?
not sure about agencies, but have you tried immoscout for flatshares/WGs? I used that when I lived in DE
I've been looking for a flat on wg-gesucht and facebook pages for a month and a half now, so I'd like to speed up the process now.
If you´re still a university student go to the website of your uni and look for "housing" related articles usually the have information about where most students live/websites where you can find a flat/flatsharing// also check out other unis websites for that, it´s free information for everyone to access on the website so maybe they have different websites/information
Thank you, but I am actually looking for flatsharing because of my job. I still hope this will help someone else 🙂
Hi, does someone have been in the German preparatory course of the Stuttgart Universität?
In case that there's someone that has studied there, how did you prove that you had attended more than 500 hours of German lessons?
hey everyone, i was recently admitted to graduate school in germany and im super excited but ive got some questions, mainly about the visa process. has anyone else made the move and would you mind sharing your process a little or if i asked a few questions? anything would be really helpful. thank you so much ❤️
probably better to just go ahead and ask
fair enough. so can anyone tell me if its necessary to have a "blocked account" or would a german acct with the correct funds be sufficient?
additionally, im coming from the us and im confused about the process. it says i can enter germany on the schengen visa but then i have to get a residence permit in two weeks. so i dont need a visa or is the residence permit the visa or i need the national visa along with a residence permit ?
I have a similar question to the above. my plan is to stay in germany visa free for 3 months and apply for a language course visa before the visa free duration expires. (I'll probably do that 8 weeks in advance). but at what point do I complete anmeldung? I read that I'll be fined if I plan to stay longer and don't complete anmeldung within 2 weeks of moving in.
the blocked account is unique since it can be shown to the Ausländerbehörde as proof of financing, apart from a Verpflichtungserklärung or stipends/grants it's the only way to prove adequate financing for your studies.
Question regarding public health insurance for international students: The German embassy in my country told me that I have to show proof of health insurance in order for them to process my visa, and they recommended TK (Techniker Krankenkasse). Now I'm curious to know if I'm obligated to pay for a year or there are monthly plans?
most unis typically advise their students to begin the visa application process before entering the country but best to check with your embassy about specifics regarding the visa waiver program. Its technically only for temporary business/tourist stays. Also it takes months for your application to be processed anyway, you won't receive your Aufenhaltstitel in 2 weeks.
if you choose the automatic Überweisung it should be billed on the 15th of every month.
I see, do they also have yearly options?
not that I'm aware of but could be possible, best to check with them.
Thanks
thank you for the clarification
hey guys I am planning to do my undergrad in Germany just wanted to know how are the people there, like student culture etc and are there any student groups like for art , history etc
Jinx!
Ok I hope if this is the right place, I'm eligible to study in Germany but I'm currently living in Russia (with a student visa), going back to my home country is currently really difficult for a couple of reasons.. Is there any precedent to apply for a German student visa from here?
unless they changed this since I did it (also from the US in Germany), you can enter Germany without a visa. You can stay in Germany for up to 90 days without a visa, so you have that long to get a residence permit (which you can apply for from within Germany). You need to register your address (i.e., get an Anmeldung) within two weeks, but that's not the same as a residence permit.
In my experience, I got my Aufenthaltstitel on literally my last legal visa-free day in Germany by waiting in line outside the Berlin Ausländerbehörde with my documents. I would recommend getting an actual appointment at the Ausländerbehörde if that's possible for you (but in Berlin, it often isn't). Generally speaking in Berlin you get it day-of because they just stick a piece of paper in your passport, elsewhere you get a letter saying you have been granted it but have to wait some weeks for them to print the card. You need to make absolutely sure you have your paperwork together for this though.
I have no idea what applying for a residence permit from the US would look like, since I didn't need to do it and I don't know of other Americans who have done it.
normal account definitely doesn't worked, if you're using a bank account you need it to be a blocked account. Unless you have another source of funding, like a stipend or German relatives who are paying for your cost of living, a blocked account is pretty much the way of doing it
EDIT: whoops didn't see that someone already answered this
the convo about visas tends to be very confusing because people use the English word "visa" to refer to more than one thing, and those things are quite different in terms of the bureaucracy involved. You need an "Aufenthaltstitel" (sometimes called a "residence permit" in English) to stay in Germany legally. The "Visum" is a type of Aufenthaltstitel that is issued by foreign embassies and that you need to get prior to entering Germany. People from some countries need to get a Visum to enter Germany at all, but many countries (like the US) have agreements with Germany that allows you to enter for short periods without it. The "Aufenthaltserlaubnis" is issued by local German authorities and afaik must be applied for from within a country. Even if you don't need a Visum to enter the country, you need to get this to stay in Germany legally (and, depending on the type you get, to work here). There are other types of Aufenthalstitel, like the blue card and a couple types of permanent residence permit, but if you're coming to study these are the two that are immediately relevant to you.
with Anmeldung just apply as soon as you can when you move into a new house/flat. You don't need an Aufenthaltstitel to apply for it, they're a completely separate thing and you'll need it for a bunch of other stuff.
this is very useful, thank you. I think I will go to Germany like mr. sewerrat and I'll study German for 2 months and try to apply for the Aufenthaltstitel in the meanwhile
it's so difficult to understand German educational and visa systems damn
Good business schools in Germany? Also should I consider private universities or just public ones
all i know about the difference between privates and publics, is that public universities mostly cost 250-400 euros per semester, which private ones can cost up to 1000. i'm not sure about the quality. correct me if i'm wrong tho
Do employers prefer students from public universities?or they dont care about whether its a public or private
i think it depends more on the rank than the public or private thing (?) which i don't think it'll be the most important thing they'll see when recruiting someone
again, this is what i know, so dont rely on my answer. i could be wrong
(hearing from friends who have studied there)
in general public universities in germany are higher rated. I mean, in the end, it depends on the candidate and his knowledge and personal fit anyway. But my personal ranking would be german University > Hochschule >>>> private university / hochschule. Between universities there isn't much of a difference in reputation. Depends on the group/institute. For Hochschulen, there are some more reputable ones. In general employers know most universities, maybe 1-2 Hochschule and no private stuff.
I plan to move to Germany and become a citizen in a few years time, anything I should know? I'd also like to know about the initial costs of moving and the like
depends where you're going from and what you want to do there
Coming from Palestine, and I dont think I'll be able to study there(parents control where I go), but I hope to get a degree and then apply for a job
I hope you so as well
Is there a wide variety of IT related ausbildungen or is it mostly concentrated on other types of ausbildung? I'm thinking of doing an IT technician ausbildung in Baden in the future but after looking on some websites it seems kinda hard to find
Has anyone studied or is currently studying at Studienkolleg Düsseldorf? I had a few questions, please let me know. Thank you!
thank you so much for all the information! i feel a lot better 🙂
From what I see there's a lot of IT related Ausbildung available. I don't know about that Baden-Württemberg specifically. Another thing to note is that by now most of the open Ausbildung positions are taken so you'll see less of them. Companies usually post new open positions later in the year, around august and September
Ah okay, thanks, and also, how does the vocational higher education work? I've read a bit online but I can't really understand it. Like how do you proceed if you want to get higher vocational training after completing your ausbildung?
Unfortunately I can't find much about it either. Hopefully someone else can you help out. Look out for keywords like "Meister/Techniker/IT Weiterbildung"
Many go onto Fachschule which is further vocational training, Meisterschule to become a Meister, you're able to attend Uni after a few years of working, etc.
@uneven yarrow I don't get some education right there currently But where is that?
I have a friend that used to study at TU Darmstadt. I could ask them but post your question here. If he can't answer it then someone else could
Yeah, did he took the DSH Kurs?
Hi ! I want to know , I need to pay taxes in Germany if I get money from CPA Marketing, Google Adsense, etc ?
and if I need to pay, how can I pay ?
This will help for the first time
Thank you bro !
hi! i'd like to ask, is there any tu/uni that offers engineering degree in germany that has modern-ish look buildings and facilities?
stuck at this videx form can someone let me what to fill if I am a non EU citizen (I am from India)
We Indians carry regular/ ordinary passport issued by our Gov; so what to fill here
Look up the TU9. RWTH Aachen and TU München are among the best in the world for engineering
Destination is not where you're from. It's where you want to go. So you need to enter Germany and not india, and select the visa type you need
Ya so i will b returning to india
berlin to india
But you don't need a visa to go back to India?
say fr example i am applying a schengen tourist visa
so what to fill here if i want to return back to india
Ok I had to look at the form myself. You don't need to fill out this section. It's only if you already have a schengen visa and wanna apply for a better visa
aah so not necessary right?
Yeah
Nope
Have a safe trip once you get it ✌️
ja, danke
Uni assist is one example
The VPD (“preliminary review documentation”) is a certificate issued by uni-assist which you may use to apply to the university of your choice. Find out how to obtain your VPD.

I am currently looking up the dates for Aufnahmeprüfung. I couldn't find the date for some Unis. Can you anyone tell me where i can find the date Aufnahmetest dates for all unis that offer Studienkolleg. I'm looking for dates for Wintersemester Aufnahmetest.
Found this interesting: https://community.elitepartner.de/forum/frage/politische-themen-beim-ersten-date-tabu.30277/

The answers differ quite a lot from what I would expect from, say, my own culture here in the US
There are plenty of diverse opinions in this thread but it's interesting
Hey I'm on Anabin and is there anywhere I could see for example what the title is the ESO equal to in Germany? I swear it says in the box but it doesn't say anything for this one
Also, by "mittleren Bildungsabschluss" it refers to a Realschulabschluss oder Hauptschulabschluss right?
Realschulabschluss
Ah yeah because hauptschule would be abitur, thanks
no, hauptschule is below Realschulabschluss
Yeah sorry, confused it all
Question for German people :
I will probably live in Germany for one year in September and I need to make a choice for a city, but I don't know which one is the best for me..
According to you, what is the best city to live when you are a student ? (prices, atmosphere, people...)
Is A2 exam easy
Hi guys, I'm going to Germany in a couple of months to study. My original plan was to apply for a Studentkolleg but recently I've been trying to gather information about going to Gymnasium, since I'm only 18 and also a EU member. The problem is that I have lived and studied my hole life in Peru and my school leaving diploma is not accepted in germany. I'm taking a german exam for official b2 certification in around may, but still I have no idea how should I approach getting into gymnasium and doing abitur as a non german. If you know something that could help me or have been through a similar situation please let me know.
This should be helpful if you want to find out about rent prices in college citys.

What would you like to study?
actually i will be in a gap year in my studies as a French teacher assistant. I need to learn German
Hi guys, I’m from a country that allows people to stay in germany visa-free for 3 months. I would like to know if it’s better to get a language course visa inside my home country first or go to germany first without a visa and then apply for it
most countries can't apply for the visa from inside Germany as far as I understood the process. I think you also can't upgrade the visa from language learning to a high degree one neither unless you come from a handful of countries.. It's all a bit difficult to understand really, let me see if I find a link
where are you from if I may ask?
South korea
Then either way goes, I think it depends on your timetable
I'm applying for bachelors in comp science this year but i dont have any coding skills other than html css
I havent Volenteered or scored good grades in high school
Idk what i should fill up in my CV
What should I do? I'm freaking out
Afaik most unis in Germany generally don't look at more than your high school certificate and language skills. Atleast for the courses that are "non-NC". Are you sure you need one?
But anyway they don't expect students to know or have done a lot. You have time before your application so you could do additional courses/learn some other skills and add it to your CV. I don't think you'll be Interviewed on them (if non-NC)
One university I'm applying to has non-nc but i have to write the motivation letters for the other two
THI want me to fill a questionnaire where they have a section about extra curriculars if i have done
THU requires a motivation letter and both of them are non NC
probably just to get to know you better, if you meet the minimum requirements you should be granted admission. Unless they review their applications themselves and not through uni-assist.
since these are Fachhochschulen I would highlight that you are interested in the practical aspects of comp sci. For Universities you do not need any coding skills.
THI will review their applications from uni assist whereas THU will review the applications from hochschulestart
THU have mentioned that I don't need prerequisite knowledge for their course but i gotta demonstrate my interest
anyone from Deggendorf Institute of Technology??
Do universities often send the admits after the application deadline
afaik yes
Just one example of many: https://youtu.be/CXwLqUKWT7E
Has it really been that normalized in Germany to have huge age differences? And even some that slide a bit under the age of majority? 😬 Seems like from what I know about what happens in relationships that could encourage a lot of manipulation and psychological damage but what do I know
As another example I think I saw something on Gutefrage.net ages ago talking about "I'm 17 and my boyfriend who is 25 blah blah..." 💀 uhhh
u alright there Germany?
Also do the other DACH countries have this uh, interesting cultural aspect in common?
Yes Germany is ok
ferb, i know what we‘re gonna do today
Does anyone have a girokonto with Monese?
Hey everyone, if i'm on a B1 level of german speaking, do you think it will be best for me to visit Germany and practice my German naturally while on vacation for a few weeks, or to take a German language course in Berlin at the same time? Ofc the course is optimal, but they are all super expensive 😦
I know of courses that cost like 400euros, if you're extroverted and have no problems meeting people you can practice it a lot on vacation ofc
Yeah, cuz 400 Euros is quite abit of vacation money compared to sitting in a classroom
How are the university exams like for technische hochschulen in general for bsc comp sci
I googled a little bit. It's possible for international students to get loans from certain institutions. However, all the institutions require them to have family members who are permanent residents in Germany
However, my friend said that his old brother went to Germany for his master degree. He took a loan from a Germany bank to fund his study and he will pay the loan once he get a job there. But he doesn't have any family members who live in Germany. So is it actually possible? Is there any public/private banks in Germany that actually offer loans to international kids who want to study there (while not having any families members in Germany)?
Is there a significant difference between an Universität and a Hochschule? I've noticed Hochschulen generally offer M.Eng. programs as opposed to M.Sc. at Universitäten.
I aim for studying a Master's program and then finding a job. Is Hochschule a viable option for me?
As far as I know hochschule are aimed for those who want to find a job
.
Universities are aimed at research, if you want to do get a PhD / do R&D you want to go there. Hochschulen are more applied, less theory and more practical skills oriented. Closer to school with relatively fixed curriculum. Generally considered easier.
Hello everyone,
I hope you all are doing well. I am confused about the German study procedure, please guide me. I want to do my bachelors in Germany but my previous education is not equal to German education system. Therefore, I must do studienkolleg (prepatory course). However, in order to do studienkolleg, you need to have sufficient German language skills because it is a requirement and the studienkolleg is in German language.
What I am confused about is that. What should I do first? Should I apply to the university, or to studienkolleg or German language
I will be very thankful if you guide me through this.
Danke
There are language schools that offer "university pathway programs". Basically they apply to a university for you and get you a conditional admission. The condition being achieving the required German level for example. This helps a lot with the visa process. So then you can do the language course, and then Studienkolleg right after and either continue to the University you got the conditional admission for, or apply to another uni.
This aside, the order is language - Studienkolleg - uni
Viele danke 🙏🏼
Could you please share me their links?
Helpp
Look up "Germany university pathway programs" on Google. There's a whole lot of them
It's a broad question so you'd have to be more specific on what you want to know. But most unis just have one final exam per subject at the end of the semester. If you fail that you'd have to repeat the subject n retake the exam in the next semester
Ohh okayy
Has anyone got their documents recognised by studentkolleg konztanz
Wanted to know about the phone contract thing in Germany. So let's say i purchase a phone with vodafone for 2 year contract. What happens after 2 years? I return the phone back to the company or i get an option to continue my plan?
And will the fees per month stay same or they will charge the same of what i was being charged for the 1st 2 years?
In almost all cases the phone is yours to keep since with the contract you already pay it off partially every month. Usually the contract is auto-renewed as they want to keep you as a customer, but that depends on the provider and contract. It's best to ask before you sign it.
As for the fees: That also depends. Some have like very low rates at first but then they go up. You know, to catch those who don't pay attention. Again this is all noted in the actual contract and usually is advertised up front. Hidden fees are rare.
Ahh kk...
And what r the odds the phone will be alrdy unlocked? Like say i return back to my hometown or travel, can i still the phone? In terms of replacing the sim and moving on with my life?
I am sorry, I don't think I can answer that. I would guess that some are locked and most are unlocked, but that's only a guess. I have never dealt with phone plans. I run prepaid.
Generally what is recommended? Do i go down the path of phone contracts?
Or i get a unlocked phone directly and decide my own prepaid plans
Is it worth studying in germany after studying at a home country for 14 years
Ahh thnks a lot fr this info
Hey all not sure if this is the right place to ask but I got admitted to FAU and TU Dortmund (Msc data science both universities) and I'm not sure which university to go to. Can anyone help?
Anybody here know extensively about immigration from the u.s to Germany? I have a massive amount of questions. If somebody could add me as a friend and dm me it would be greatly appreciated.
Why not ask here
It removes the expectations of answering from a single person and you got more people that may know more here
Is technische hochschule Ulm known for something?
@cyan hamlet like what
I mean in terms of education, job opportunities and all
I'm trying to choose a Krankenkasse, and I hesitate between BKK EUREGIO and HKK, but I can't find any info on the base services they offer. They only talk about things like ostheopathy and teeth cleaning. Nothing about x-rays, surgery, normal prescribed medicine, etc. Are those maybe so basic that they are implied? I don't want to commit only to learn later that it's an additional health insurance and I'm left with no protection.
Personally I would say so. Teeth-stuff is often not standard but most medicines are (some you have to partially pay yourself [only small amounts usually]), surgery is usually paid if it is needed
bkk euregio:
translated loosely:
if a hospital stay is necessary, we will completely cover expenses for medical treatment, surgery, Medicine, lodging/stay and food/provisions
Also going to the doctor is also included.
Source: https://www.bkk-euregio.de/basisileistungen (Those the basic services of BKK Euregio, you can just put that into a translator, the sentences seem mostly easy enough for that to work.)
Thanks a lot. And I think I found the equivalent for HKK ( https://www.hkk.de/leistungen-und-services/hkk-leistungen/alle-leistungen-von-a-z )
It's just a bit new for me, so I'm learning bit by bit ^^
no problem
hey guys
how much percentage do they take in university of munich for international students ?
i wanna take entry
I did some research and found that:
It from their official website:
https://www.lmu.de/de/die-lmu/die-lmu-auf-einen-blick/zahlen-und-fakten/studierende/index.html
This website is really helpful and contains a lot of information about international studies. I translated it via browser translation, maybe you wanna try that as well.
@charred pulsar

This link might be helpful
@shy flare can I apply in Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich after 12
I mean undergraduate
depends on which course you're applying to, even I'll be applying to tu munich for undergrad this year
Current figures from the Technical University of Munich (TUM)? How many degree programs are offered and how many students are currently enrolled?
i see, as far as i know thats a german taught program, so the number of international students will be on the lower side for a BSc in informatiks
Idk how i will cop up with german natives
But...
@misty atlas i needa translate that
@charred pulsar this PDF has all the details for each program (its in german)
@misty atlas german has better universities ig
Germany
Yep
Us is too expensive
@misty atlas am an average guy
Sorry
Can't expect that
Ahh dude
I like Germany
Yep
Meh not interested
In dating and stuff
I am thinking of carrier
if you find difficulty in attending german classes, you can try english taught programs @charred pulsar
Thanks @ember wren
https://www2.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programmes/en/detail/7698/#tab_overview information engineering taught in English at TU Munich which is computer science
Is it necessary to know german ?
you can even look at Saarland University which is known for computer science
Ah i see
A2 level for Munich, Saarland University doesn't require any prior german knowledge
though you should probably study german anyway, to live in Germany
yeah but you open so many opportunities by learning even basic german for jobs etc, also its showing respect to their culture imo
good luck :)
How much is monthly expenses there ?
depends on each city
I know friends there who live at 700 euros a month to 1500 euros a month, depends on your lifestyle etc
Ah i see
Me Russian Indian
No no, I'll be applying to unis and probably move there in October
I lived in Moscow now shifted to India bc of war
hope everyone's doing well in your family
@ember wren well i live with my mom here
Dad's in italy
And
Umm
This place is petty good
Just a little hot
@misty atlas no Italian
only the top few ones are excellent but insanely hard to get into, but the field im interested in doesnt have much scope here especially for jobs
Mechanical Engineering
97.5% in my 12th, not ISC though
Again depends on each course
Meh, you've got bad apples everywhere, wouldn't really generalize stuff, ive also met a ton of nice people from germany since ive visited the country a few times before :)
yeah since CS is most in demand here
xD
yes
@ember wren am gonna try in 5-6 universities
good luck 👍
Yep
ahh mann
Im really thinking about study in austrian universitate. I have to know english or just have C1 lvl in German? I hate english because it is everywhere so im trying to learn new languages for stop using this retarded language.
i think about studying in german uni, but i would have a compromise
i dont even know a d... about german
and the language is so messed up
i am trying to learn in duolingo
What's the approximate level of German I should have to apply for okaish but cheap German unis (in math/software/data analysis +-)?
Where (as a foreigner) is a good place to try and make some local friends in Switzerland?
Bachelor or master?
https://studieren.univie.ac.at/en/admission/german-language-proficiency/
for the university of vienna
english only if you choose an english study
C1 for decent unis, right?
Master i guess
I think about study germanistic first at bachelor but i (werde) have 26 years old so my age isnt a problem to studying?
Unis will cost the same almost everywhere (~200-500€ per sem) unless you join a private uni or a uni in Baden Württemberg as a non-EU citizen. But yeah if your course is gonna be in German then you'll need B2 or better. C1 opens more doors though
200-500 eur per sem? That's fucking free
Oh and yeah I'm not from EU (I'm from Russia for reference)
Well that's the fee for all students. Only in Baden Württemberg and in private unis are the costs higher
I think around 1500€ per sem for non-EU student in BaWu
i pay 90€ per semester
Yeah
in an undergraduate studies, what are the differences in diploma and a bachelor in german unis?
na age isn't a problem
we have seniors who study
obviously because they are bored
for a master you are gonna need at least c1
yeah and you are gonna pay about 747€ per semester
I hope sending links is alright
Hey guys
I am just passed out after 12th from an Indian high school
Which german(public with 0 tution fres) university should i apply in ?
Please help me out
public unis that are not in baden wurttemberg
Can someone explain the highlighted point?
I'm applying for recognition of certificates at studentkolleg konztanz
Do you have Any german skills?
Wait are you from india
based on research, most unis will ask u for a c1 level german cert
@cyan hamlet currently in a eastern state called west bengal
having that c1 cert really broaden ur options on courses drastically
Check out technische hochschule Ingolstadt and Ulm if you want to apply for comp sci in english
Cool
I wanna do btech in computer s

It's optional
ISLETS and TOFEL ?

I have done that in india
I'm currently completing my 14th year and i wish to apply there in germany for bachelors
Idk much
It's urgent guys please help
aw shit... 747... :c also at someone from UE?
UE is french for European union?

What is Mikrozensus and why am i legally required to participate in this survey thing
wdym?
A mikrozensus is like a survey and I think you are required to do it for the data to represent the country
I don't know german to participate

Just an idea, but you could censor the parts that have private information and send it in here, someone can probably help you translate it
The website said I can deposit €891 per month
or ask a personal friend if you are not confortable sharing it here
oh sorry I am afraid I can't help sorry
its asking me when my building constructed wtf
lol
its something should go to the landlords
i am just poor rent guy
I think that's only the amount you can withdraw per month
To start a blocked account you need around 10k € in it
Is it possible to transfer to second or third year of Bachelor to a uni in Germany? (I mean, generally, how possible is that?)
Given that I'm a non-EU foreigner who has studied 2 years in my country, and not wanting to lose the progress
It's possible if the uni "acknowledges" those subjects that you already did
👀 tell me more please
I am from US, just applied for Study Abroad in Tübingen....there are plenty of study abroad programs not just in US...have you checked with your college?
I will hopefully be going through my Universities program next semester.
Study is a good way to migrate
One can hope to find a way to stay past the 1 year program....hopefully lol
I'm good at math & computer science
I`m going to Germany soon, and I know that I will need to find some kind of a job there. Regardless of the reasons, I need to somehow earn money and work. I am 15 years old, I will be living in Northern Bavaria. Can someone give me some advises? Maybe tell me of a job available for me? I dont speak german, but will surely learn
honestly i can't tell you a lot but do you at least have a mitleere reife
and are you an eu citizen
if those two apply to you, you might have a slightly easier time as being purely 15 and without anything to prove
Is it compulsory? Or the financial part by saying that my parents will provide for me
Should I apply to technische hochschule Ulm even though their fees are high
Why every time I check Master's program I can't find any requirements but Bachelor's degree & language proficiency?
Because those two are pre-requisites for getting admission into any Masters Course
Is it really enough?
@cloud apex It depends on the university where you are applying, some need GRE, IELTS, German too
That's the lang reqhurement, yeah
Hmm
Do the grades of the bachelor diploma matter?
Somewhat it matters but, if you have worked on some projects or published some research papers then it will help you for admission
So those are requirements, but it's not enough to meet them to get into Ms?
In the end it depends on the university , there are documents like LOR and LOM if you have a good motive for study they might consider as well. You should look into requirements for your preferred Uni.
I see, thanks
No worries!
sometimes, they also want some experience in this area, but only certain kinds of universities
I have some software projects, but not research, not sure how they're interested in them
this mostly applies to fachhochschulen
Guys I need your advice on something
why dont you post it then
Should I apply to technische hochschule Ulm even though the fees are too much
Would you consider 250€ per month too much?
It's 1500 euros per sem
Semester comes from the latin "Six months" and 1500€ divided by 6 is, well, 250€ per month
So yeah, it is
I would say seen monthly it's quite doable with a student job
@hollow geode nope but it's much more expensive than the usual fees
@hollow geode u going to private university ?
Ohh
Is there a reason you want to go to Ulm much more than other universities?
Atleast for your first year, or when you're first applying for the visa, it is compulsory. After that, once you're already in Germany, it depends on the immigration office you'll be dealing with. They can be flexible and be okay with proof that your parents can provide for you, or you'll have to continue showing them 10k€ in your bank account each time you need to renew the visa
Yes
In some other websites it's mentioned that I can show my parents bank statements and stuff
If you want to go there and can afford it I don't see why not. But outside of Baden Württemberg it is cheaper for non-EU students (just in case you weren't aware)
Like I said it depends on your immigration office but at least to get your visa first you need to have the blocked account with 10k
10k is a bit much for me
I know
It's hard to find courses in english
Hochschule rhein waal has a lot of English courses too
There isn't a bsc comp sci course in English
simply learn German
Not all are full-time English, but maybe you can find some more options here
how is it with the numerus clausus and non eu citizens?
Are there different fees for students from outside the EU at German universities, and if so, how do you find what they are?
I'm not sure, shall I pay 470 Euro per mo or 950?
presumably the €950 is a one time deposit (Kaution) and the monthly rent is €470..
Hallo,
Also du hast Griechischer Reisepass?
Thanks
Is it possible to get a working visa, save some money there in Germany, and then being there in Germany prolong the visa to study visa?
(if you know where I can consult on it please tell me)
In Baden Württemberg it's more expensive for non EU students. 1500€ per Sem. Everywhere else it's the same for both EU and non EU students (200-500€)
At Public unis*
I think the best way to consult on it would be a German embassy in your home country
So is a semester half a year?
Yeah. And most bachelor study programs are 6 or 7 semesters long
Hello all, I'm interested in pursuing a career involving medieval history and medieval archaeology in Germany, and I believe museum studies would be a good field to get into. I already have a combined 6 months' experience in museum and university archives, but I would like to get more experience. Is it possible to get an internship with a museum to get the experience I need? Please ping or DM me with any info as I am not very active in this server during working hours.
Hi, is it possible for someone to do an ausbildung for the same title twice? For example in my case, I'm not sure if my spanish vocational training will be recognized at the IHK as an ausbildung and if I go to Germany and start an ausbildung but my title gets recognized, can I still go through the ausbildung to be able to learn more, etc.
Hey guys is getting a german visa easy or depends what you are doing
If a course which was admission free before but no admission restricted will have lower nc (around 3) or higher nc (around 1.6)
Not quite sure what you mean
i'm hoping this counts as a culture/life question and i'm hoping i can get some insight/thoughts/answers from natives or individuals living in Germany, if anyone would be so kind. i've searched for answers on this topic before, but never really gotten an answer.
i have read that a lot of people in Germany tend to rent (apartments) rather than buy houses like in other nations, mainly due to shortages or it being expensive. but i'm curious...what happens when you retire, do you still rent that apartment/house, isn't that a burden on your retirement fund as most people would want to have paid off a mortgage by then?
or is this all wrong, and do people tend to start mortgaging when they hit a certain age?
Simply, can you do an ausbildung for the same beruf twice?
I don’t think so
you get a certain percentage of your former salary as Rente once you are retired. But yeah, a lot of people cannot afford houses, especially in the city
There are studienkollegs for intl students who have applied for german taught programme, are there studienkollegs for English taught programme too?
I have heard about it but i never searched
I dont think so.
Well logically speaking, what's the point of doing studienkolleg if you do it in english?
there are but they're more expensive typically
anyone aware of any good recruitment agencies for foreign workers looking to work in Germany?
Usually I look on Linkedin. That's how I got a job
How did you get the search to narrow by country? Or did you just pick a city and look?
when you go to linkedin.com/jobs and click search
you can specify country/city
If you're a CS professional, you can also try Indeed
but beware there're some scammers there
Sounds good. And ive always had problems searching by country but ill give it another go thanks

Hi, another of my 1000 questions, if I leave Spain with a B1.1 level (Done at a Spanish VHS equivalent) , would I be able to do B1.2 at Göthe or would I have to do B1 entirely
its a requirement for international students; if someone is willing to study in german studienkolleg is better as there are german studienkollegs but if they wanna pursue in english taught they should complete first year of bachelor from their home country as alternative to 1 year of studienkolleg
Can anyone give me ideas? I am a 3rd year Mechatronics Engineering student in Turkey, my school program is %100 in German, most of our Professors are from TU Berlin, TU Chemnitz and other German Universities. I want to do my Internship in Germany, i have applied to some firms( my projects and interests are in favour of a robotics in automation career) but they haven't returned. I am being a little scared because of this. So my question is; is there anyone here that did their Internship in Germany, and are there any advices for these kind of stuff?

Jo, danke für den Hinweis!
Danke auch!
You guys know the difference between these?
- Ausbildung zum Fachinformatiker/in
- Ausbildung zum Fachinformatiker/in für Systemintegration
- Ausbildung zum Fachinformatiker/in für Anwendungsentwicklung
Have you tried looking them up online?
Systemintegration is setting up and managing systems.
Anwendungsentwicklung is application management/development
what about the first one?
Basically your regular computer scientist, ich denke. Fachinformatiker loosely means subject computer scientist, which logically means a specialist
My only issue about Germany is making friends and the possibility of feeling weird about the weather. I'm from a tropical country, so I'm not used to the seasons
@fathom kindle
general
system integration
software development
No, computer science would be at university. Fachinformatiker comes in 4 flavors, basically ops/dev/bizdev/net. FiSi is ops, FiA is dev
Haii thereee 🙂 Has anyone here applied for an employment visa recently?
Thanks for clarifying?
Ist Deutschland wieder für internationale Reisen geöffnet?
@outer sphinx schon so seit Dezember oder November
be sure to be vaccinated twice
at least and also with vaccines approved by germany
ahh ja
@summer mango let me break it down.
rent for a one room apartment is already starting at 500-600 on average or higher. Good phone contacts are 40-90 per month, BVG monthly ticket is 89 euro for AB route. If you drive a car its 2 euros per litre atm. Food for takeout is usually 5-20 euros per meals (5 euros being a Döner with a drink and that's on a the low end). Groceries can be cheaper and more expensive depending on your preferred location... Aldi? Kaufland? Penny? Some are cheaper. Perhaps if you're alone groceries for a month could be 250 euros being comfortable. Taxes are about 50 percent of your nett salary. do research and go figure
How does medicine work in Germany for non-resident student?
Is there some insurance? How approx high is it / might it be?
All students in germany are required to have health insurance. Premiums are usually fairly standard at around 100-120 Euros a month.
Premiums?
Gotcha, thanks
When buying prepaid sim card in germany, do you need to be a resident of germany? Can foreigners buy prepaid sim card without residence? If so, where can I buy these offline in germany?
@chilly summit You don't need to be a resident but the SIM Card has to be registered to a German address which could be your hotel for example. You buy the SIM card pretty much anywhere: grocery store, gas station, telecom shop, but you activate it then which requires ID verification that you can do at the post office
If you have an Ireland visa, can you visit other European countries without visa? I'm asking as non Europe Union citizen?
I don't think visa entitles you to anything but your stay in Ireland. You can probably visit other European countries for the standard 90 day amount (within Schengen)
Usually, the government specifies how long you may leave the country before your visa is no longer valid
This will depend on the type of your visa
I don't know exact lengths for anything, but you usually have several months at minimum
Ok, thanks for helps!
But if you'll travel with railway from Ireland to England let's say, are they checking your visa on the other side?
(Speaking from experience): Your visa is checked depending on your means of transportation. Flights are the strictest and traveling on your own by car being the least restrictive. On trains, I haven't experienced any visa checking, but I've never traveled from Ireland to another Schengen country. If the train goes through a checkpoint, then you'll probably get checked. However, your visa is generally only relevant for the host country. Any Ireland-specific documents are usually irrelevant for the control, unless you're trying to re-enter
Do keep in mind that this is my experience in Germany, not Ireland, so take it with a grain of salt 🧂
Actually, I have an Ireland visa and my plan is going to the Germany. But I don't have any Schengen visa. So my plan was going to the Germany without visa with railway. Will I be noticed?
Or by car
Hitchhiking, i think
I know there is sea but not directly im talking about
Ireland is an Schengen EU-country, so you shouldn't have a problem; however, your best bet is to call in to your authority for foreigners in order to see what restrictions apply for you. Even your nationality could effect how easy/difficult it is for you
Ireland is not Schengen country and that makes everything hard
lol np
EU-country
yes but there is still visa controlling happening, you can't escape from controlling, right?
or can I escape?
With airway its impossible but for other alternatives?
Because it's an EU-country, your safest bet is to just ask how long you may leave the country
Like, 2 months and never come back
My plan is to stay 1 month in Ireland, then travel other EU countries for 2 months
Oh, well...I guess it doesn't matter much, then. I'm not sure. I would then check what the entrance rules are for Germany
Germany has documents for everything
First rule would be --> Show your visa. And I'm already eliminated, lol
Again, you can always call the German authorities and explain your situation, they'll give you a direct answer
That's the safest option
You don't know unless you ask. In my experience, they're generally understanding
Your assumption that they'll deny you doesn't really have any basis, as (I assume) you aren't familiar with how they handle such cases. Neither do I, so assuming either way is non-sensical
You are right. But for now, let's say they don't allow. Then, are they have visa controlling on their country borders?
If not, probably I can successfully enter with hitchhiking
I'm 17 years old. I'll be 18 at the beginnig on this summer. And all I want to do is travelling europe. But countries makes everything hard.
Oh, being a minor makes changes things, though
what do u need information on
I remember the rules being different
o
hey, dog profile photo dude that just deleted messages, have you ever travelled the europe as a German and showed your visa on somewhere?
The thing is, Ireland is Island
There is no road to the Europe sadly
he said he were german
huh weird
have you ever traveled?
yes
did you show your visa on somewhere?
only in the US
ive never shown it in europe
ive only been asked for my ID on a bus while crossing borders
hmm that is also big risk
because you are european citizen
they may be let you go,
but im not european citizen
where are you from?
I'm from Turkey and it makes everything hard actually
But you need schengen visa
For ireland?
Germany
Ok, and I'm asking, Is it possible to enter to the Germany without visa? Like with railway?
You will be checked
the issue is that you will have had to enter the schengen zone at some point
Hmm, when you enter a schengen zone from non-schengen zone, are they checking you at the beginning?
This answer made everything clear, thanks a lot you all who helped!
is there a possibility to enter with only ireland visa?
here's the page for Turkey https://tuerkei.diplo.de/tr-de/service/05-VisaEinreise/-/1513856
I would assume an Ireland visa only works in Ireland
yeah
there probably isn't, if you're a non-EU citizen, because the issue is having the document to enter the Schengen zone. in principle there should be unified enforcement so it doesn't particularly matter whether you take e.g. the Ireland-France ferry -- once you're off the ferry you have to go through passport control. Citizens/residents of EU countries will be able to show their passports or IDs and non-EU citizens will have to show they can enter the Schengen zone.
thanks a lot for helps again! Probably I have to look for other alternatives to travel Europe.
What is stopping you from getting a schengen visa?
lots of european countries in the zone
Schengen visas can be issued by any member state of the Schengen Area. Travellers must apply to the embassy or consulate of the country which they intend to visit. In cases of travellers visiting multiple countries in the Schengen Area, travellers must apply to their main destination's embassy or consulate. If the main destination cannot be determined, the traveller should apply for the visa at the embassy of the Schengen member state of first entry.
80 EUR cost sucks though
yeah, plus there may be funds/proof of onward travel requirements which can be difficult if one is planning to camp/backpack/hitchhike, all the more so as a minor
I'm non eu but I'm able to be in germany for 90 days in a 180 day time period visa freee
but not everyone is that lucky
hey guys
are there good master's programs for non EU members in Germany? I am study Computer Science and would like to know
how far ahead of time should one apply for visa? does the process typically take long?
I'd say for student visas be ready at least 2 months in advanced
gotcha, thank you both.
is anyone else having a hard time getting an appointment for a visa? my local embassy in NY has nothing available for the next 2 months.
germany?
if yes, try another embassy or another german speaking country
yeah it's for a short-term visa for germany.
i can visit another embassy in another state?
idk, but I would try
and what I also meant, if you can't get to germany, then try austria or Switzerland
you meant US state?
yeah.
i can apply for a schengan visa for one of those countries & use that for germany? that's interesting.
ehm
not really what I meant
do you already have a visa for Germany?
I am not sure I understand
the situation
i don't have a visa yet, but i am trying to get an appointment with my local consulate in order to apply. unfortunately they don't have any appointments available, so i was curious if i would be able to go to a consulate in another state instead.
can you do it online? https://videx.diplo.de/videx/desktop/index.html#start
If you have a schengen visa, then yes, you can move freely. However, for studying, you need a specific national via
i'll try this, thank you man.
I am not sure if it's correct but
Unless I'm missing something, with VIDEX you can fill out the form online, but you can't submit it -- you need to bring your VIDEX barcode to a consulate appointment still (!)

Has anyone given the TestAS exam? I am looking for study material for the English version of it. I have gone through the website and the set of books is pretty expensive. If there is an online question bank or something anyone has it would be very helpful. Thank you!
i spoke to my local embassy & was told that if you are a US citizen you do not need to apply for the schengen visa. i hope this information is useful to others.
UwU
Hallo wie geht's?
does germany allow your family members to move to you after you obtain citizenship?
has anyone got their student visa rejected to Germany? if so pls pm me
hey is there anyone studying international relations (bachelor) in Germany ?
Would I skip the curriculum if I get into university in summer semester?
Typically no. Your classes might just be in a slightly different order (if they're only held in specific semesters).
Depends on the uni anyway.
Thanks for the infomation
hmmm
does german unis allow electives to pick whatever subject you want to? for example if you are taking engineering and you want to take classes in history or political science
or the electives are strictly related to the course itself?
Keine ahnung
Hi guys. I might probably need some advice. I’m outside the EU and I want to study German in Germany for a year (from A1 to C1), and study in a university after that. After doing some researches, it leads me to a visa called “Language course visa as preparation for university studies”
The problem is, there is a contradiction, which frustrates me a lot.
In order to apply for this visa, I need to get the conditional admission letter from a university first. However, without certain level of German proficiency proof (C1) I can’t even get admission from a university.
I already sent Emails to some Unis and they said they won’t offer such kind of conditional admission.
Am I supposed to look for a university which offers a conditional admission? If someone can give me some advice or info, I'd very appreciate it. 🥺 Thank you.
@pliant breach
Look for English taught
This is also a possible way, but I tried. Most of the bachelor degrees are in German. For the English taught program, they are usually NC and have a higher requirement. For example, Uni Saarland requires TestAS and maybe even more. And for Uni Duisburg-Essen ISE program, they need a good Mathematics test result which was taken within 3 years. 😔 (my last Maths test was 5 years ago)
Also I want to study German in Germany. But the "language course visa" can't convert into a student visa. I have to leave Germany after finishing the language course. but still thanks for your advice.
guys do study gaps have an effect of German student Visa? suppose someone got admission for a bachelor degree after 4 years from doing abitur.. will this be a problem for the student visa ??
What degree do you wanna do
Informatik B.Sc.
I have the general university entrance qualification btw, just lacking the German proficiency proof. I want to study German in Germany because I think it's the most effective way for me.
Check from hochschulekompass website
oh thanks, it seems better than the DAAD website. I'll take a look at it.
There's this thing in Germany called "university pathway programs" that are offered by language schools.
If you apply for these, they can help you get conditional offers from a university.
The condition being reaching C1/2 proficiency in German. So basically you'll study the language for 1-2 years with the school and then once you reach C1 you can enter the uni you got the conditional admission for or apply to any other uni after that.
Look it up there's a bunch of language schools that offer it. You can even ask them if they help you get conditional offers if you're not sure
Cliché answer but it depends on the uni. Depending on the uni you're only allowed to pick up to a handful of electives that are unrelated to your course. This info and info on which classes you can pick are usually in the "Prüfungsordnung" or "Modulhandbuch" for the course
Oh I have heard of it before, I thought I have to get admitted into a university first in order to apply those programs. I'll check it out, thank you so much!
Referral code for Fintiba
Well i do hope I can find one of these by August when I have to make a blocked account
Also for those studying in germany has a blocked account been sufficient for your expenses in germany?
891 Euro per month lol
there's websites for it
where is your original gpa from?
U need to do studienkolleg right?
No, I guess I don't have to. I got the university entrance qualification.
The abitur?
Yes, not Abitur, but something equivalent to German Abitur
Ok
School and university
what country
they will automatically convert the gpa through uni-assist anyway, just as additional info
India
I know but i wanna know my Gpa before hand
Heyy does anyone go to or know someone from WU Vienna ?
Kitsch
hello
please i want to do the bewertung to my diplomat(enigneer in telecom ) and i don t know how the method to do it
please any recommendation or explanation
Do you guys reckon an abitur is important for businesses when they hire you? For example, a person with an ausbildung vs a person with an ausbildung and an abitur
Depends on the job or field. Government jobs usually require that, otherwise they won't even look at your application
Which field are you aiming for?
IT
In that case people like to see an Abitur but it's not always a must, you can surely work your way up with less
If you already have work experience it shouldn't matter too much
Ah okay, thank you very much
guys can I use a new uni assit account ? cause the old one I have been uploading docs for 2 years (couldn't get enrolled for unis) so the documents are still there and it looks like a mess. I want to apply this year again since it's a new semester and a year will it be a problem if i create a new account ???
You can upload the documents and the old ones will be replaced, only new ones will be taken into consideration. Just make sure you give them proper names. No need to create a new account.
