Im sure the mic problem is not an oculus problem, i have spent the last two days trying every possible solution to fix it, if i play any other game, the mic works just fine, only if im on vrchat then the mic doesnt pic my voice
I have tried

• re installing after rebooting
• connect it to a pc and change the input and output to (oculus...) and even to all the options i had on my pc
• i have even re installed the adb on the pc 🤣
• all non related in a direct way methods “adb, sidequest, developer mood” had fixed them too several times
• editing the sittings on vrchat app
• connecting a mic through aux
  I have done all of that in multiple different orders many times and still couldn’t fix it for vrchat, for other apps the mic works perfectly

as far as ive seen. its most likely the audio bitrate fluxuation that causes the "pringles mic" at this point. and as we know: the devs do not belive this is the case at all so i would try to find alternatives soon

I found a workaround for quest 1 users for mic issue, it works perfectly fine

Start an oculus party with someone first, (they don't have to stay in call) then open up vrchat and bam it works, Edit: Forgot to add something it doesn't matter if they are offline you can still do it

But to be more clear, START THE OCULUS PARTY FIRST, don't start the party while in vrchat or else it won't work

Hoping someone could pin this to let every user know

Requirements for Quest 1 mic workaround;

An Oculus Friend (If you do not have one you can either ask any of your friends on vr or add Desiredx, and I will accept as soon as possible)

1. Go to your profile on the menu bar in Oculus Home, once you do that there should be 3 dots next to edit profile, click that and then View Full Profile.

2. Scroll down to friends and choose one to start the party with (Click on View)

3. Once you are on your friends profile, should be a blue button named Create Party, now you will see a pop up for choose an app for this party, keep the option as choose your location later, and tap on create party.

4. Now the party menu should show up with your friend (or by yourself doesn't matter) DO NOT HANG UP ON CALL OR ELSE THIS WILL NOT WORK.

5. Start up vrchat and enjoy :)

I'm not entirely sure if this application works with the Quest 1, but in theory it should do, but its made for the Quest 2.

1. Download and extract LinkTool by NotZer0 (https://github.com/i386sh/linktool/releases/download/1.1/LinkTool_1.1.zip)

2. Make sure Oculus is running (either background or windowed (usually starts on windows boot))

3. Run the LinkTool.exe file before entering link mode. (If Windows SmartScreen shows up, click show more, run anyway (you'll only have to do this once))

4. Enter link mode, and continue through to SteamVR, the program will then terminate itself with a working mic and ASW disabled.

If you don't use SteamVR, you can click stop in the LinkTool window, and close it, and the mic will still work.

I didn't read if yours was for link or not, I just wanted to throw the fix out there

It should work for Link on both the Quest and Quest 2.
It just initializes the Oculus Virtual Microphone device so it's ready for the Quest to start sending data.

far as i know virtual desktop lets you link directly to vrchat through steam vr but you need some extra software and a pc that can run vr games.

You need the Oculus Version of Virtual Desktop on the headset itself. Buying it on PC is wasting money as it won't do anything in your case.

Hey wassup, I bought the oculus quest 2 a few days ago

I need help because I can’t connect my headset to my pc. I installed the oculus app on my phone and I can connect it, but then on the pc version I started connecting it and I stopped cuz I didn’t have the time. A few hours later I tried to connect it with the cable that they gave with the set and in vr it asks to deny or accept access to my files etc. And with both options nothing happen. the same window stays in the pc that says to connect with a cable. I use a portable computer that is not made for gaming but it still have some good specs except the graphics card.

-I wonder if it’s because of the fact that I stopped the configuration that fucked up the app,
-it’s because my pc isn’t powerful enough (I would be impressed cuz I haven’t seen any app that would deny its installation if the pc isn’t good enough)

Yes if your PC can't handle a game at 90 fps it most certainly can't render it twice, encode the feed and send it over the network.

That being said, my hardware is getting a few years old and I don't mind playing VRChat at 45 fps constantly. It depends whether you get motion sick easily, in the end.

45fps is from asw. if your fps drops 2 frames below 90, it enables asw and the quest interprits every second frame

You can not login to the website or sdk with your oculus login

You need to create a new VRChat account and then link your Oculus account to it.

That will transfer all friends and such over, and then you have the name of your newly created VRChat account.

Requirements for Quest 1 mic workaround;

An Oculus Friend (If you do not have one you can either ask any of your friends on vr or add Desiredx, and I will accept as soon as possible)

1. Go to your profile on the menu bar in Oculus Home, once you do that there should be 3 dots next to edit profile, click that and then View Full Profile.

2. Scroll down to friends and choose one to start the party with (Click on View)

3. Once you are on your friends profile, should be a blue button named Create Party, now you will see a pop up for choose an app for this party, keep the option as choose your location later, and tap on create party.

4. Now the party menu should show up with your friend (or by yourself doesn't matter) DO NOT HANG UP ON CALL OR ELSE THIS WILL NOT WORK.

5. Start up vrchat and enjoy :)

Actually, might've found what's causing the issue. Me and a friend both have that problem and had if for quite a few days now. We've been hanging all night and couldn't talk to eachother at all (except over discord). All in the sudden though, he reset his floor level and bypassed the message an Oculus party gives you to say that it pauses your mic and party audio (because he was in a party). Heard his voice in game and celebrated for a while and he eventually left the party, but that messed it up again. So, we're thinking it's the Oculus party system. Kinda got us hyped and are testing things now to see if we can get it to happen again :P

The Quest 2 is good hardware. If you just want to get into VR, it's a pretty good option.

The Quest 3 is going to be better, yes, but it does technically the same thing: renders two slightly different images for the eyes 72 times per second tracks your head and your hand movements and applies that to the game in a loop

We can only speculate about the Quest 3's specs. Heck, we don't even know if it's going to be worth it when compared to the Quest 2

Hi I'm having an issue where when I go into VR chat through virtual desktop on my occulus, my view drifts to the right and down, I can't turn my head in any way to make it look up. I looked it up on google and they told me to turn off gamepad settings but I don't see it in vr chat. I tried unplugging everything attached to my computer but it still didn't fix it. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

You can run the quest version of vrchat. I don't know how demanding roblox is on hardware so I can't comment on if your PC can run it.

Quest 2 is a good headset. But it is best used with a link cable. If you are using it as standalone, then it wont look as good but is playable.

Hey, after the new update, I noticed that my Oculus Quest 1 microphone was still not working with VRChat even though the update was supposed to be a work around. I have the internal microphone selected and enabled and i have tried with a detachable microphone also and still no luck. Is there any hope for me or am i going to be a mute player permanently? :/

How to test your mic before entering VRC: from the Oculus home console, open a browser and go to onlinemictest.com then click on the play button. You should see a wave form if your mic is okay. Jump into VRC and find the nearest mirror. If your mic is performing so that others can hear you, your visimemes will be visible in the mirror (if there is no lipsynch then you know you are mute). Usually I will get just enough time with my mic functioning to apologise for the mic bug to whoever I'm with at the time, before this feature mutes me. Exit VRC, go back to the mic test page, test A-okay, then back into VRC for chat ... and repeat ad infinitum (until said bug is fixed).

Make sure you use the straps on controllers and have PLENTY of room. Swinging your arms can hit stuff easily.

@gentle cairn 120Hz is only for Quest 2, but I will assume you know that. You don't want to download then factory reset; that will just put your Quest back to default 'factory settings' that's what it means. Check your firmware is showing Oculus update 28 and if not wait for it to re-dowload. My suspicion would be the full feature set as published might not download all in one go and will suddenly appear as a micro-update over time.
