Hey guys, since i updated the Keyboard Firmware to v2.12.3 the keyboard started to misbehave. It seems like some keys are pressed by a ghost. The function key, the mode switch key and tab. When i open the Wootility App and open the "Actuation Point" menu i can see that the Visual Feedback glitches around between 0.1mm and 0.16mm activating Key Presses. After i reconnect the Keyboard it stops glitching around and works proper again. Is this a known issue?

Its a known issue caused by tachyon mode.

I just use a very low value Actuation Point. For example, I tested the value of 3.6 with a switch stroke of 4 mm, but I didn’t really understand how the RT behaved in this case.

Meaning: You can only have a single spacebar, which is backed up by the fact wooting only sells the HE80 with a single spacebar

usually its either the stabs are unbalanced, or not seated properly or spilt lube

i speculate that adding more lube wouldnt fix the issue

The bottom of stabs can have lube and it sticks at bottom a bit. Suction cup effect from too much lube. So if you can clean them from the board a bit. Especially if they had pads under the stabs. I cant remember if 80he had them by default.

Less is more with lube in most cases. You want only light single layer in friction parts. Only part I would have bit more generous lube is the wire that inserts into the stabilizer to prevent rattling but even that is just matter of testing and not going overboard. And you can do that without disassembling by adding with brush or small syringe.

But default factory lube is ok for most I think as they tend to add like more oil based lube that is very thin and seems to spread ok with bit of use. Depends on user preference. I do tend to add to my switches a little.

I just tried to lube the stabs with a brush after removing the keycap, but it seems to have helped the right stab a little, but the left is still sticky. It's hard to tell if it make a difference or not. Is it a thing where it just works instantly, or would I need to use it for a bit?

so while it's not impossible that sometimes one slips past, it's often not related to the keyboard but rather due to 3rd party cable or usb issues

hard to say, he'd have to go through troubleshooting to figure it out. Hey! I just got this keyboard, only had it for about a week and have already been having issues with it. First thing that started were randomly my keys when pressed would not unpress. I fixed this (I think) by downloading the firmware. Now, as of yesterday, my keyboard would randomly lose connection and reconnect… doing this a few time… like wtf lol. Anyone have any ideas? I’m getting tempted to put in something for warranty at this point

i noticed my up arrow was acting weird because when i would fully press the key and move my finger around the shifting position caused it to slightly release pressure (dropping under the 4mm it should be staying at with no fluctuation). I took off the keycap and switch to investigate to see if anything had gotten under the cap or switch but now when i put my switch back on its detecting a ridiculous 1.20mm press when i am not touching the switch at all? when I even take off the switch and simply rest it on the spot its supposed to go without putting it in it detects like a .4mm resting pressure? I only got my 80he two weeks ago and I've never had a rapid trigger keyboard before this so I'm fairly new to messing with these kinds of settings. I've tried using the spare switches i got with the keyboard and same issue. as far as I know this is only happening with my up arrow. did the calibration get messed up or something?

Zinc is a relatively soft metal compared to aluminum, steel, brass or even copper. Go too aggressive and you may mess it up.

I will say the "damage" to my case is something most people wouldn't notice unless it was pointed out. It's not so bad that it even bothers me. And I don't see it unless they keys are off.

Unless you're intentionally trying to scratch the top of the case, I don't think normal use would scratch it.

Idk which switch to pick between the ur ultra ice owlab ti and lekker tikken, since we're gonna have switch selector I wanna know which is better for what and to me they sound pretty similar with a little preference on the owlab but the others are good too

all of them are all rounder switches. Pick based on if you prefer 4mm (lekker tikken) vs. slightly shorter travel (owlab/ultra ice) or off sound difference (owlab is loud clacky, ur ice ultra is deeper and more muted, while still being clear and tikkens deeper and very muted)

Only had my Wooting 8 days and love it - aside from the standard typing profile which I'm using for work each day, I followed a simple YT someone made for setting up a custom fps/gaming profile which I'm also using.

The letters won't be as bright, since the LEDs are on the north side of the switch (where your letters usually are on a keycap), so it's hard to say for sure. Might want to look through #1070668460905988106 maybe and see if someone has an example of south facing letters like this (also referred to as Ninja keycaps in some cases)

When you go to purchase an 80he from their website, you have the option of buying either

1. a fully setup base 80he with either their plastic case or their white zinc alloy case
2. a 80he module in which you can then purchase your choice of switches, case, and keycaps

in either case you still will need a screwdriver if you intend on swapping / installing a case onto your module
