Hi everyone,
I’ve just finished assembling my Wooting 80HE (purchased a few months ago, only had time to build it now). (Finally after several month)

I’m having an issue with the Backspace stabilizer:

• the switch itself works perfectly (returns fine without keycap)
• the issue persists even when I try a different keycap
• when I lift the stabilizer stems, one side tends to fall down by itself
• Backspace stabilizer works perfectly, back button does not

I noticed that the stabilizer wire orientation is different between Spacebar and Backspace (up vs down), which I understand is normal.
Before disassembling more than necessary, I wanted to ask:

Is this likely caused by:

• one stabilizer housing being rotated 180° or not fully seated?
• or is there a known fix / recommendation for Back button stab binding on the 80HE?

I can try to remove the back button switch and housing if needed, but I’d like to avoid a full teardown.

Spacebar wire is always the other way so no issues there, my guess is your backspace keycap doesn't quite fit the stems properly. You can try putting a little bit of Saran wrap or similar into the stem of the keycap to see if that makes up for the lack of contact if that doesn't work recommend making a post in #1019755933959733258

I actually already tried a different 2u keycap on Backspace and it still sticks / doesn’t return, so I think it’s not only the keycap fit on the stems.
The switch itself returns fine, so it seems related to the stabilizer/housing binding.

The switch itself is fine: if I press the center stem (switch cross) it returns normally.
But if I press the stabilizer stems (the two side crosses) they bind / don’t return, especially when pressed off-center.
So it looks like the stabilizer sliders/housings are sticking rather than the switch.

I triple checked that I installed Cherry caps fully, but it irritates me so much that PCB has some angle so backlight is only visible under one side of the space bar, as gap is uneven.

For what it's worth, I doubt we'd do a bundle discount for knobs only. The knobs can be used on most of our boards, so it's more likely to have some sort of early buyer discount, and/or a hub loyalty code for anyone who already has a board.

I ordered a refurbished zinc allow 80HE and it arrived today, it came with no keycaps - I need some asap and the keycaps i have on old keyboards dont fit (the shift key has 3 +'s on the bottom where the 80HE only has 2 +'s)

I found some nice keycaps on amazon that have 3 different size shift keys and wanted to know if the keycaps would work because they're 4.5mm instead of the usual 11mm

1. ISO or ANSI Wooting? That's pretty important.
2. You really don't want to use low profile keycaps like that. They're going to look and feel weird - if they even fit on the stem to begin with.

Make sure whatever set you do end up picking specifically states it's 105 keys ISO, not 104 ANSI (only, it can be both in a lot of cases)

Completely random example. This would fit, cause it has more than the standard 105 keycaps, and states both ANSI and ISO.

I think Optimum uses the grey and narrower cherry keycaps right? I hope this isn't the case with TenZ also, etc - because the ones a bit more wide Wooting uses are just better and feel better.
I would even go further and start selling XDA keycaps as default for wooting, with possibility of the old option too. (XDA are like the best overall keycap, also with straight profile, better for gaming).

Not in particular, just set the up arrow to 0.1 actuation and 0.1 RT, and if you have issues use the debounce filter (beta)

also use the beta firmware especially if you have Raw HEs on an 80HE, it makes the experience so much better for GD

Optimum is just a case and keycaps which is why it’s easier to just run it back as much as it sells

I haven't gone back to my 80 since the split arrived on my gaming machine. I couldn't use this for work, but for just gaming and hacking around it's a nice usability improvement over a non-split 60. 80 is still king as an all-rounder though.

Solution was simple: the keyboard only acted up when it shared a busy USB hub/path with other devices. On Windows startup several devices draw power and enumerate at the same time, and in that setup the keyboard sometimes wouldn’t come up until a re-plug. Using UsbTreeView I mapped the hub chain and moved the keyboard to a separate, less loaded USB port/hub. Since isolating it, the issue hasn’t happened again. maybe best giving wooting a bit more seperated hub

if you dont tend to look at the keycaps too much then using UK layout is probably fine so you know where the harder to find stuff is located but it wont have the azerty lettering

In my experience this depends on the root controller you plug it into more than how many devices are also plugged in

Some of my controllers can handle 12+ keyboards fine, and other controllers crap out at 4 or 5

I have a x670e motherboard which can handle a lot of devices especially in the USB 3.2 root hubs

One of them happens to be my front USB ports too, which goes against popular advice "always plug into the back"

Especially in long past when I had bit more budget boards and others first, which is fine for the time and putting together gaming pc's mostly, but when more modern devices, microphones and amp/dac setups came into picture with PC's

some ppl just lack the technical expertise and write "something" becouse they get payed

i just ordered the 80HE coming from a huntsman mini v3 pro. is there really no way to just add a modifier to a keybind like in the picture or even a turbo function? also im reading that theres no macros? what keyboard doesnt have macros? i find it hard to believe that the razer with synapse is that far ahead of the wooting? im kinda second guessing my order now

It's not about being ahead. Macros are relatively simple to implement - We just haven't done so to keep a fair playing field.
