If it’s a class and above and you like it then I say yes
sulphurine? small amounts, i usually get them from sentinel depot buildings, easily found with secure charts or exocraft radar tech - but it's also possible to get some if you build an atmos harvester on a scorched or barren biome planet (babysit the atmos harvester till its done). another advantage of sentinel depots is that you can get the products already crafted, e.g. enriched carbon, nitro salt etc
you mean frigates? frigates class upgrade with more and more completed expeditions. frigates hired at c-class with less than 4 completed expeditions can often become stronger in the long run than natural s-class spawns

well depots can be really easy to find as i mentioned already - either with exocrafts or secure charts. and those often have the gases
since i dont like waiting for an hour for atmos harvester to build, and if i didnt have a sulphurine gas mine already going on, i'd go for depots

in this case, we can often just first go inspect what resources are in the pods, then walk away and shoot them from afar

Should I settle for an A-class Freighter, or keep battling RNG for the S-class?
Mostly up to the player, but in short, the differences between A-class vs S-class Capital Freighters (including Pirate Dreadnought):
- 3 vs 4 supercharged slots;
- 50+100 vs 60+120 max inventory upgrade limit;
- Slightly lower ranges vs Slightly higher ranges to base bonuses;
Type !faq-shipspawns in #bot-spam for more info on drop chances per system economy tier.

If you don't care about min-maxing frigate expeditions (upgrades do that way better), warping crazier distances than will ever be necessary, or the inventory upgrade limits, then it's inconsequential to go for A instead
even with an a-class freighter or lower, your fleets will be more than op enough to deal with any, no worries

if you really like the pirate freighter, and you mostly summon freighter around, havent invested much into them yet besides building a base, you could take the c-class and still be happy about it. that said, class that drops is affected by system eco tier, and you could possibly reload and redo the event to try and get a higher class

i usually try to throw pellets on the ground far from me/closer to animals in the distance (quick menu/creature/pellets), to try and attract them closer to the farm, and then let auto feeder do the rest. but be aware that there's a limit on how many animals can be on screen at some point (you might start seeing some despawn when some new ones get close)

Yes, waterworlds found in purple systems have nearly no land. There's also some othr worlds in purple systems that just have deeper water, and some terrain types don't expect this and make it so there's no land
you'll find some waterworld biome planets with no islands at all
the kind of planet where you could spend 30minutes looking around all around the planet using photo mode and all, and not see a single one
That hardest part of that quest was that there was a quest item I needed

Obtaining Lithium/Finding a Waterworld biome planet
Requirements:
- Purple star systems unlocked.
-# 📖 Type!faq-purplesystemsin #nms-commands.
- Look for a Gas Giant system - they're tagged as such in the Galaxy Map.
- Land on the Gas Giant planet: obtain 1 Crystallised Helium and 1 Activated Quartzite (e.g. from mineral deposits), refine Crystalized Helium+Activated Quartzite to get Lithium.
- Open Catalog & Guide > Materials & Items, Raw Materials - Exotic;
- Cursor over Lithium, press Locate key/button.
- Follow new mission objective and to the marked system in the galaxy map.
After reaching marked system, look for any planet with Lithium on the resource list.

they're fairly easy to locate - though sometimes finder mission bugs and one has to warp out first, then locate again

But the planet will say if it has Lithium (and will have a waterworld biome descriptor) #nms-commands message

How do I find the perfect paradise planet?
By just looking around. What do you consider "perfect"?
Lush worlds are given the name "Paradise Planet/Moon" when they have both No Storms and Low Sentinel Activity (infested/relic lush worlds also do not qualify)

They can still have predators, or look ugly, so that's within the player to weed out

Think of the pipes as networks akin to how the electricity works. Every depot just adds another 1000 storage and an access point as long as it connects to the same network of pipes from an extractor.
8*1000 = 8000, 8*250=2000, 8000+2000=10000

Each extractor gets a little less efficient when part of the same network! There can be a little nuance to it, like having several networks each with 4 extractors to maximize efficiency, but usually naw no reason

Going through the trenches to destroy the shields, then again to destroy the fuel cells. Also, destroying the hyperdrive makes it surrender when it reaches 25% health

I just found a really nice paradise planet, but my hazard protection is going down even though the game does say "Paradise". Is this a bug or did I just get really unlucky?
Either a bug or developer choice related to floating island subbiome
Hazard protection is going down while standing outside
it uses both lush, desert and swamp weather types for some reason
desert weather includes constant passive heat
it's the only subbiome in the game I believe that uses weather from a whole different biome
I'd advise reporting this as a bug tbf, as it doesn't make a lot of sense

but by all definitions, it's intentional (defined in the subbiome's data file very clearly), could still be a typo but this has been the case since the biome was added in WP1

which is why bubble ones never have storms unless overridden with extreme weather, in which those storms are harmless
because bubble worlds themselves don't have storms

They allow you to travel to any planet in the galaxy (except for purple systems if you haven't finished that mission), so you can basically reach any discovery anyone else has posted to the internet, including ships, freighters etc

Hey guys! I have a very important question and recurring problem with NMS. I have a RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM (IK you will say thats trash and ofc my game is bad blah blah blah) but hear me out. Even on enhanced settings, I have huge VRAM leaks that just ruin the experience for me. I can play for only around 1-2 hours, before I have to either brave the VRAM storm, or restart the game (that does not always help btw). Clearing gpu cache does help, but its kind of tedious, but if there is no practical fix I will have to just stick to routinely cleaning the cache. I did try to use DLSS, but that never solved the issue. I have a Intel core i7 12700kf, so no gpu/cpu bottleneck is present (yes IK, the stuff is kind of old but thats just the market these days.) I can play other games such as Assassins Creed Valhalla (max settings btw) and KCD2 (also max settings) easily, but NMS is just not working with me for some reason. Does anybody know the solution for this issue?
im not knowledgeable on this at all, but ive seen some discussion in this channel about how steam overlay can cause a memory leak that can be avoided by disabling steam overlay for NMS. i suppose you could give that a shot. hope you find help

in the corvette modules placing, it's telling me I have to press l-shift instead of the usual e to flip horizontally. pressing l-shift or e doesn't work, and there's no way to flip it now. I'm using beyond base building, and I looked in controls, and I only see the flip part, nothing about horizontally or vertically(but it says r)

Looking back on some pictures in #legacy-screenshots quickly shows that the ‘older terrain’ used to have more depth and felt more unique. I took a large break from the game (2020-2026) meaning i missed quite a few updates and didn’t follow the game as it changed over time.
I’m just curious when they changed the terrain and why?
Haven’t heard much of this until seeing it discussed in #legacy-screenshots briefly. Which i highly agree with.

Terrain shapes in most planets are identical to how they were in 2018's NEXT update, which was the last "universal reset". In 2020's Origins update, some extra planets were added to existing systems that have new terrain shapes like huge mountains etc. In 2025's Worlds Part II update, purple systems were added which their planets can have both NEXT, Origins and entirely new terrain shapes that are also similarly mountainous but also have flat areas between them and are generally more varied.
The legacy channel is targeted towards versions before the NEXT update, which are versions that have also been preserved by a small community to be playable on PC
Which is back when terrain and basically everything was entirely different

Yes reset Xbox cashe works for this.
1.You need to unplug the power cord from your Xbox (it is fine to leave HDMI and Ethernet plugged in).
2.hold down Xbox ON button for 10 seconds.
3.let it sit for 1 minute before plugging it back in, turning it on and loading the game.
Hope this helps others with the same problem I was stuck for 3 hrs trying to figure it out🥲.

in summary there are no truely rare items in this game. you can sell basically everything you get for cash, especially in the early game. There are a few exceptions but by the time you get to them you will know.
but everything else, the worst that will happen is hording the item will save you 5m of farming.
feel free to sell everything you dont yet have an identified need for. start keeping things when you already know why you need them. this game does not require forward planning

a good rule of thumb i did early on before i got more familiar with the items are just look to see it’s listed “uses”
if it’s used in crafting or upgrading i saved it
otherwise it was sold for units
then again most crafting stuff could prob be sold as well so i’d argue mainly just the upgrading listed uses matter
even if something is useful for crafting, if i am starting a new character or an expedition even, i only keep carbon, sodium oxygen and Fe to start out - everything else is destroyed or sold for units until my inventory grows a bit.
i wish i could stick to that in the endgame.
those characters have banks that are full of trash I dont ever use. "just in case".

Every inhabited system has an exotic model that can spawn, the chances are 1 in 301 for it to spawn

You can salvage them at space stations for scrap parts that you sell for the value of the ship.

They can give a variety of parts when salvaged, so you may not have enough room
ship scrapping usually gives you like 3.-5 upgrade modules too

In short I plugged the stats in a calculator like https://nms.gander.tools/ to see what their base stats are (which is normally between 0 and 12)
What the wiki does NOT tell you is that the best frigate type imo is organic.
Because they ALWAYS start with 0 expedition, even if S class, meaning they can have a LOT higher base stats
Organic frigates can be reconfigured with foods, but even if support they use the normal 8-12 fuel
So having good support frigates is still usefull imo
But tbh this is only if you minmax for minmaxing sake. With good fleet upgrade modules (easy to farm if one does some piracy shooting freighters) any frigates will do once they leveled up a bit, independent of base stats

i've said my personal opinion: too high fuel usage, but i agree that if you need high combat score to jump start that score on your fleets, sure, go ahead. this one hasn't even reached 55 expeditions, so means that it will still be able to increase stat numbers (but no more traits, as it's at 5 already)
IF you need a solid combat frigate right now or dont mind spending more to get a high stat frigate now (instead of leveling it up slowly) and dont care about the stats for the stats sake, go for it.

Support frigates do go down to 2, that is correct. Non support frigates should not (without any bonus) go below 8 based on every information I could find.
Idk what the game does there then, but I strongly suspect that if one check them in the save editor, they will be between 8 and 12 base fuel usage.
In the end the total fuel value does not really matter anyway. Nearly every frigate will be ok with S class modules to reduce cost in supercharged freighter slots.
In my freighter 8 base fuel goes down to 1, and everything else (at least to 11 fuel usage) goes down to 2. And I think (not sure though) that the game does not calculate fractions with fuel. So it is either 1 or 2, and it makes no difference if that 2 fuel usage is a base 9 or a base 11
But I am that kind of person that cares for the stats just for the stats sake, not because it makes sense. ^^

Their base stat for maneuverability is higher yes, but corvetts get more upgrades, as the engines give a bonus to maneuverability.
I've encountered some huge ships in space that are broken apart, almost as if they're begging to be explored.
I exit my corvette and float to the ships but I can never seem to enter them. Is there something I should be doing here?

For something that interrupts my pulse drive, this looks pretty worthless
often, by the icon of the space encounter notification, you can tell if it's going to be one of these, and just stay in pulse to ignore
I vaguely remember a reddit post about some using the same model as the crashed freighters, so sometimes there are cargo-pods to loot. Idk if that is correct, but I would not care about that anyway.
Basically if the freighter is broken in half, I just leave ^^

personally, i love this ship. i always feel a connection to it, to the point that i always keep it and eventually at least, will upgrade it "all the way". that said, plenty of other ships out there that you might like. could also start building a corvette sure. remember that after we own a freighter we can archive up to 18 ships, but not archive corvettes. we can have up to 12 active ships.
egg-sequenced max size beetles are incredibly fast, but unfortunately they are so big that most of the time you wont even see where you're going, just the hud marker you're focusing to get to lol. that said, yeah, devs need to adjust camera positions for those scenarios.

In short, no.
- New Beginnings signals completion of the main storyline.
-# Select it when you don't want to see any mission related tooltips lower right of the screen. - Atlas Eternal is an endless mission that signals completion of the Atlas Path.
-# Don't have to keep doing it if you don't want to, not unless you want to max out Atlas words. - The Space Anomaly doesn't truly have an objective after the interactions with the main storyline missions.

yep, you can only use 1 base comp for the project. and you'd first delete all parts of 2nd base manually, to get 100% build mats back

it doesnt. since game is procedurally generated off seed values, planets are really only "rendered" when we visit them
and are rendered while we're there ofc, and are moving across the planets etc
being procedurally generated also means that the game's algo can use assets available in game files in different ways, apply different colors etc etc, which is how it is able to keep a low install size

Question regarding corvettes - Lets say I have corvette A and it has a refiner. I put something in that refiner that says it will take 30 minutes. I then switch ships to corvette B and put something in its refiner. Do both continue to refine at the same time or does the non-active ship get paused?
The more likely outcome is the item(s) in the refiner disappear forever

You don't input glyphs into the monolith, but use an ancient structures planetary chart (or several if the first one does not mark a monolith), or an updated minotaur scanner

You're early in the Atlas Path
So I've been getting those, but what do I do at the thing it brings me to? I used it, and it just gave me buried treasure or something multiple times
You have to use them until it marks a monolith. Don't clear any of the HUD indicators until then.

So, to use those efficiently, keep opening them until it gives you a monolith. Do not visit any already marked items as the game can only have one of each marked at any time

Advances the Path
If needs be, google the riddle for the monolith to give the correct answer. Get it correct, and it will give you a dictionary word or something. Then, click on the monolith a second time, and it will grant you portal location
The best thing is to take your ship to the monolith. Getting out creates/updates your restore point. If you get the "riddle" wrong and can't interact again, reload the restore point and pick a different answer

The Exploration Guide isn't a real mission, and it doesn't tell you how many exist, just how many you need to find to complete its objective for that planet

You cannot use a portal to travel between galaxies. You can, however, get to Eissentam using at least 1 of the featured bases in the Anomaly
Go tothe anomaly first, and use a featured base on its portal to get to Eissentam. THEN, find a portal again, and tap in the address
Portals only travel within a galaxy between systems
Do not confuse systems with galaxies
there are 255 galaxies, and 8 billion odd systems per galaxy

You need an emergency signal scanner to find one. First one in any 24 hour period is 5m units from the scrap dealer

you need to find a echo locader i think
Follow the salvage site mission. You need 3 radiant shards and an inverted mirrior to be able to use the hyaline brain in your inventory
i have 3 shards and 1 inverted
Then the brain should be glowing in your inventory. Use it, like the mission tooltip will be telling you to do
If it's not, you didn't take everything out of the ship, or you have more than 1 salvage site mission

does giving gifts to npcs just give you standing of does it give you anything else?
is there a solution for the ships icons not appearing? sometimes they do but most of the times they don't, and reloading not always helps

it's a very persistent bug, I rarely see any icons except the ships I pick up in that session, sometimes I reload several times but the icons don't appear anyways, same for multitools, makes it very awkward when scraping stuff

yesterday, i landed in my settlement and went into a building... the furniture in the building wasnt loaded yet but when it did load, I ended up stuck in between the settlement pc and wall lol.

When you manually upgrade a multi tool from C rank to S rank, do the super charges always appear in the same spot or are they random if using the same multi tool.
after taking it from the cabinet, will be seeded per tool, so no matter how many times you reload and reupgrade/readd more slots, it will always land on the same grid positions

alternatively you can search for runaway mould deposits, though this method will be limited by how many refiners you can run at a time+if you can find a decent spot

Obtaining Lithium/Finding a Waterworld biome planet
Requirements:
- Purple star systems unlocked.

- Look for a Gas Giant system - they're tagged as such in the Galaxy Map.
- Land on the Gas Giant planet: obtain 1 Crystallised Helium and 1 Activated Quartzite (e.g. from mineral deposits), refine Crystalized Helium+Activated Quartzite to get Lithium.
- Open Catalog & Guide > Materials & Items, Raw Materials - Exotic;
- Cursor over Lithium, press Locate key/button.
- Follow new mission objective and to the marked system in the galaxy map.
After reaching marked system, look for any planet with Lithium on the resource list.
