I assume what happens is the sentinel ship spawns in and points directly at you when you finish the fifth wave of interceptors

so it ended up being like 20 feet away from the planet's atmosphere and facing directly at it when it spawned since I was down on the ground

they clearly have a modular two tone color scheme like everything else in the game but you're just stuck with whatever stupid palette they were when they spawned instead of getting to make them match your freighter

Expeditions just have exclusive rewards, such as unique ships or cosmetics. All the actual content is added to the base game for everyone. And there's ways to get most of the rewards if you missed them

Freighters dont start with much but can have 60 tech 120 cargo spots as well as the storage containers in the base area of them.

when a system has the outlaw station with pirates and tents in it instead of the normal layout, it's a pirate system

in pirate systems you can attack freighters without sentinels attacking you, but the main benefit is the freighter cargo pods have lots of contraband in them, which you can take and sell to a non-pirate system for a lot of units

yep! you'll still get negative faction rep but you'll make a lot more money, and you can immediately get yourself a forged passport afterwards and then turn it in wherever you sell the contraband to reset the negative rep

it's worse money than the good ways to make money but it's the best one that doesn't need any investment at the start

the best way is to make a bunch of bases that you can go click on every day to get all the crafting ingredients for super expensive products, the best way that isn't base building is to trigger a trading surge with an economy scanner and then go buy a full freighter inventory of in-demand goods and sell for like 200% profit

Hey folks, starting the game again after a loooong while. I remember back in the day, there was a trick to reroll your first freighter encounter to get your ideal ship for free. I can't seem to find the method again, and I have no idea if it's still working.

I think that was patched out. Right now I think only small system freighters spawn until you accept your first one for free, and only after that can the large capital freighters stars spawning.

I never saw much reason to hold on to most fossil parts. Apart from the five that are impossible to obtain, which apparently were found during the original run of the relics expedition but no longer present in the redux. I guess if you have those then fair enough to hold on to them...but all the others? They don't serve much purpose other than making decorations and a low unit value for assembled skeletons...no way I'm keeping ships full of this stuff.

All you have to do is craft some carbon nanotubes out of some carbon and either install or repair the analysis visor in your multitool...you can and should do that immediately upon starting the game before anything else, because doing so enables the compass and lets you see your ship marker among other things around you.
