This game has so much stuff to do i cant really keep up with ideas at all
always something i missed, never knew was in the game, or changed..
I just bought the game just for the collecting and building
And i got something more
Just another day of the majority of the galaxies mankind making more space weed farms
thats me, i love the building and collecting, the more i can get and build and craft, the more fun i have, and i like to work the grind for it
that and me finding cool shit
Saaaaaaame
I personally kinda have a problem with minecraft but im unsure if its not just the fact that I completely overplayed minecraft to hell speaking,
But Minecraft makes every single thing something different to collect if you wanna build with it
And NMS what does is make you only need around 7 materials, but it still feels different cuz the stuff you mine has completely different look and vibe
I like gathering knowledge, and figuring out an easier way to share it. Aside from lore, I want to figure out an easy way to explain refiner recipes because theres like 1000 of them most players will never learn about without searching
Less stuff to collect, more building
This game is like a fidget spinner for people with ADHD
Btw i actually like Vanilla Minecraft, its addicting but im tired of playing minecrsft i will admit
I just can't get back into that
my big goal at the moment is to spread the knowledge of glass systems as much as I can
The game is the AuDHD entertainment
Im actually sometimes feeling like im not pauing enough attention and in result i do less than i couldve been doing
The expedition kinda proved it to me
It ain't for me. Can't focus on one thing lol. And with how this game just lets you do whatever. I get all over the place and wound getting bored by accident lmao
I don't want to go through the hassle of all the mods to make the game how I used to play it. But plain vanilla Minecraft just feels so lacking without them
I find it funny that lately I prefer this game's building system over others because of the difficulties working with it
Try Terraria if you haven't already.
whacky
Because you can do such random things with the build system that when you finally figure out how to do something it's even more rewarding. Than just snapping pieces together
If the weirdness of nms building system didnt exist, we wouldnt have all the stuff we can make
Honestly dont wanna
I played so many games where the point is to kill enemies
Im kinda tired of it and im looking for games where it either doesnt have combat or has combat but it isnt focused on that At all
I almost wish it doesnt get changed for lnf, lol
Halloween hasn't even started yet ;-;
Ark has a similar build system. But without the glitches, randomness and heavy customization. And there's a big difference between building in each game because of that
I have combat in NMS turned off i do not enjoy it
I like games like this and minecraft where you can point at the greater procgen and know that things are inevitably messed up due to fundamental limits.
Btw in derelict ships if i have combat turned off is there still danger??
I agree. Almost any wnd game plauers has an ungodly op starship lol
I honestly think not all games should strive to feel like THEY HAVE TO add combat
Make more games where there is no combat
man, ive been playing minecraft since "Cave Game".....its come such a long way.
I doubt they will deviate much from the No Man's sky build system. I could almost see it being a direct copy just with a different user interface.
The build system is very unique and allows peak creativity from the user. Something HG loves to showcase
Minecraft is awesome but im just tired of constsntly playing minecraft
I needed to move on from it
And if they do hamstring the build system to be less creative it'll just turn people off who are used to building in this game.
I feel like combat can add depth to a game so long as it fits well for what the game is. Ya know? Not something forced, like u said lol
My only wish is for more snap points between different types of parts, lol
All they will hear is
"We were able to do this and no man's sky. Why don't you let us do that in this game"
exactly. it's their formula, and it works. I don't see why they'd want to make it substantially different
They're not going to open that door π
Roblox?
try enshrouded
UAG has been a lifesaver for me when it comes to building cubes and pipes aligned with the rest of things
Right when you unlock anomaly
im creating chromatic metal rn
Yeah
I honestly think what makes Astroneer good is that you dont destroy hazardous plants by having to shoot at them
You just play around with the environment
from copepr
imo i think combat works for this game, i actually think they should expand upon how combat works. i'd love to see more galactic federations you can go to war with
telling someone who's getting tired of playing combat-focused games to try a combat-focused game...
Played i dont enjoy it anymore as i used to
i meant for the building
Ah okay, you are in the base building process the tail end of the tutorial
Btw im in general tired of the look of Minecraft i dont think i like it anymore
You are making the hyperdrive I assume
You're new then. You probably have like 20 more minutes of tutorial if that's all you do
try paper mario
If a game is minecraft mechanics focused i will not like it probably
ty
If you're getting the hyperdrive
I think you can avoid the combat in Stardew Valley but it's still there.
Anyways, OT.
i suppose what you got tired of is the survival craft genre
play trailmakers
If it's the base computer like an hour
if ur tired of combat play super paper mario
try playing a game like balatro where the main goal is to try out the cool things :3
SOMEONE GETS IT HOLY PEAK
Baldur's Gate 3 is amazing
-# fr though I get on minecraft for an entire 2 weeks and then I can't deal with it anymore.
Btw i still like combat games i just play them more occasionally, but i just want variety in my gaming
And i been playing pretty much only combat games so thats why i stopped paying for games with combat
Imagine playing one genre for 2 years everyday, you would get tired of it
Yea. I feel like No Man's Sky would fit well with combat as a part of exploring and adventure rather than an actual core part how you have to play the game. I think it'd be nice to expand on the combat in terms of new weapons and enemies.... With fighting only being a path you can take to resolve issues like depots or what not lol
Want something indie? You have ded cells, hadeez, stay the spire and balatro
We do need a combat update
I kinda want to suggest some games, but I'm also reaching a point where I know I'm gonna be between fixations, lol
Want some midless rougelike fun? Brotato
I honestly think they need to make the weapons in NMS more powerful to destroy plants and such
Like a new way of collecting materials
Very nearly almost lost my permadeath save due to a stupid sentinel hardframe that kept regenerating as if it was being repaired by 3 sentinels at once
play bad piggies
and it was stun immune
rovio fell off, unlike hg
wtf
Lol played it when i was little
its still fun
i love making contraptions
It's just NMS corvette building but 2D
That'd actually be cool if they added a whole new form of mining underground. Where you'd actually have to watch out for crumbling roofs while certain elements are only obtainable from the deep rocks lol
What are your preferences?
i like games that are procedurally generated :3
nms and some boards of canada/radiohead at full volume
I think they need to do a cave update
Caves in this game are kinda boring after a while
Roguelikes
Why's ur name mommy?
Lost a bet
i own lots of those :3
I don't think they can, at least not very easily
Tbh interesting name cuz it sounds like Mummy
and i made 3 myself >w<
That's amazing
Surprised you thought you'd win the bet to begin with lol
I mean i guess
"Nah, I'd win"
Gleam:
Btw if someone has non combat sandbox games to recommend i might try them out
β«πβ«πͺ
try asking around in #other-games
Okay thanks
how long is the new server picture been up?
oh, it's because of the Halloween
yeah i'd say it can
Is breach peak or weak
The previous one gave off that I JUZT WANNA BE A PART OF YOUR SYMPHONY βͺπππ¬π¬π¬
They kind are. Like whole new biomes only found in caves. Like I said, things only obtainable IN caves lol
Honedtly incredible so far
Peak, expanding on the space walk mechanic
PrIUSSS peak I I. H h u I.
Giving gou a purpose to do it
Yeah you find Cobalt and Vegemite in caves
I havenβt been able to hop on yet so Iβll see
Cobalt is kinda useless tbh
I csnt remember when i needed cobalt lasy time
Cobalt and⦠Vegemite???
Settlement housing upgrades:
Yeah that thing you get when you mine the stalagmites
Eh...I dunno. They seem a bit impractical to look for there since you can just hunt for a whole planets filled with cobalt depsoits n stuff
could always render a planet uninhabitable for 93 years
Who here has the name Redleaderx57?
Thatβs cobalt but
No the thing other than cobalt
Nobody
No no, like I have them added in game but I can't remember their discord
You can use the search feature
I think they just need to make new stuff that uses those materials that are rarely used
I mean like decorstions and building things
That's why I'm here unfortunatley
Okay so, my next creative project, Super destroyer AND Pelican One
@redleader has no thingy autofill thing
Yeah maybe their steam name is different from dicsord name
Ohhh I thought meant on teh cord
I think they could add like new electricity things something like minecrsft redstone
I want to be able to make things spin
Sorry y'all
search for who you talked to. for your old conversation
get in a session with them and ask them?
Talked to them via VC
We have electricity
I dont think we are able to make things spin tho
Post in VC chat then
We are not cavemen Greg, we have technology.
I want to make something like a windmill
How can ypu know maybe i am a caveman
if nms gets the double piston extender pulse extender 4x4 flush slime block door I am SO outta here
You didn't get the reference
No ππ¬
Imagine they turn everything into a cube for april foold
what would be the nms version of a creeper? a sentinel that just constantly flies towards you and kamikazes?
A crab sentinel
explosive predator fauna
If NMS gets an electric systems update I will buy 3 copies of NMS and do a giveaway on this server with the staff permission.
they're already annoying as is
This would be neat for a sentinel to do. Only thing that did close imo was the cursed expedition squid things
hmok
Im honestly kinda obsessed with the new breach update because of the abandoned ships thing
Heat seeking mini blobs that distract you with cuteness......then π₯
I for the life of me cannot find a predatory fauna
Like this shit is crazy
ALSO THE NEW COLLECTING SOUND EFFRCTS ARE SOO SAFISFYIJF
I thought those vigilant eye stone guardians did that as well but I can't tell
Alien Isolation ahhh
Hello Mr Orangutan Trainer?
This guy is trying to kill me π
They like to run toward you and swing the arms things, not sure I've seen them divebomb a player but maybe I kill them too quick to know
New derelict enemies
Different than the current wiring system, like a Redstone system or something? The current system could use some love...
yeah that's what it was. they fly up to you and melee
I think the eye explodes or something though.
Am I going crazy or did the icon for this discord change to a more purple version?
An overhaul or update to that system
DISSONANCE DETECTED
One day they are gonna add a stalker enemy to the derelict ships trust
Like, what's the point of powered doors if you cannot make a functioning garage?
I'd like to be able to Space Walk and land on an Asteroid and Mine it with me gun. Live my Fantasies
I'd just like to say that the fix to the recipes catalog last patch was amazing, so glad I don't have to keep flipping through multiple catalogs to see alternate recipes
Imsgine having to crawl through the vents as the creature just appears on the screen
Automation (input/process/output+logistics) and local storage would go a long way to making it more meaningful. "Hoppers, chests, and redstone" basically.
so how are people out here punching the shields off a pirate freighter like they're outta invincible or something when I can't even punch on my own in space
Maybe having interconnected systems in freighter or corvette that automatically refines stuff
You have to shoot down the shield emitters in the trenches.
Derelict ships are the least relaxing place in the game now
There's generators on rhe bottom of Freighters. Get inside the shields. Destroy the Turrets. They're relatively easyish
You can punch down Pirate Freighters with your bare hands in No Man's Sky VR!

Fk my English
In freighters??
is it a vr thing
They weren't exactly relaxing before either kad
yes
womp womp
But I would like to just get out of my ship and use my MT to take out shields
Oh, thats a thing we can do now.... right
my muscle memory's already burned into it for them. knock out the engines right to left, swoop through the left trench from back to front, go over the front and knock out the right trench front to back, then do a 180 and shoot the fuel rods and it brings it down
I do the exact same thing

They sort of always put the right trench closest to the player when they zone in, so it makes sense
I honestly think the third camera in derelict ships is mucu better than anywhere else
Its much less clumsy and everything
I think its the new maybe
Sorry but third person in NMS is just clumsy sometimes
i've never had issues with it
a setting where it's first person, but third person every time you're riding/driving something would be sick
I switch between them depending what I'm doing, even in ship or exo
I will admit third person riding is much better
First person riding in just weird
Derelict freighters used to have big problems in third person with clipping
3rd person gives you a better view but there's no cockpit HUD
Honestlt the new accessories are kinda bad
yeah that's not to say first person isn't useful. coordinates and seeing temperature levels when staying inside ship
They load badly like sometimes they just dont and i think its all of them
I mean the character accessories btw
I dont even bother with the engines anymore. A cheapo photon cannon c-class corvette can shred the shield emitters and take down the hull before it can get away. Engines are a distraction.
yeah, but it's something I do anyways considering infra melts it
destroy every viable target. I shoot all the planter things in derelicts too
Is it just me, or can the corvettes absolutely carry a permadeath playthrough? You can just fly around scrap worlds and get millions along with parts to improve it as you go.
Do you even shoot all the exploding barrels?
The screen in the cockpit also shows relative locations of things like planets, stations, black holes, and freighters
Permadeath isnt that hard to begin with, but it definitely makes it a lot cheesier
true but I mean, that function got slightly less useful when I can just mark planets
Four (make it eight now) system with red water planets (they offend me) back to back. Holy crap my bad luck never changes. Trying to find a planet myself is hopeless lol.
Oh it came in really handy for me in breach for finding where the dang black hole was, lol
Agreed, which is why my playthroughs often have the hardest possible settings and I still don't think it's that difficult, especially on an irradiated planet for the nice boost to launch fuel availability.
I had a really hard time using it to find the black hole for navigation for the first time π
The whole 3D map thing just didn't make sense at first when I thought I was flying toward it and it turned out I was lined up horizontally but way off vertically
for black holes there's a little noticeable speck, especially when you move the sun around in photo mode
It's similar to Elite: Dangerous, so I was familiar with it when I saw it. Get all planets on a plane, then supercruise perpendicular to the plane for a half minute, turn around, and the system is arrayed before you without obstruction.
That's Matthew McConaughey
Thats a smart way to do it, I'll have to remember this
That's the idea, yup! βοΈ
Well lads, I am gonna go Snorkmimimi, See you tomorrow
1st paradise moon as my first purple planet visit after finishing the stellar quest
Only has light showers too
Somebody robbed my settlement.
when that happens I step outside the building and back in and everything generates
yeah, I know it's just a glitch π
I learned from Jeopardy the other day that the word glitch comes from a Yiddish word
So random
lucky find
heyyyy I've seen this before
I remember worlds 2 fucking up my resort planet that I spent literally like a week and a half trying to find
paradise moon with white grass
it was beautiful
And what did it turn into?
poopy purple corrupted world with radiation
I need to ss it when it isn't raining. Might build my stasis farm here
what is the value/use of communications stations?
I guess I get that they let you leave a message without having to claim a base location.
how can I delete them?
my computer can't really handle nms anymore since it's getting old
you don't
Might have to manually go to them
they just pile up
If players didn't drop them they wouldnt be an issue. It's like the thousands of bases that pop up at rendezvous points or the last stop in an expedition.... People so thirsty
hi gravity inversion can you leave me the hell alone
I don't mean delete others, just my own
I think it would be great to delete others' though
it would be good if I could even delete my own. you can't delete them, only move them. you can have one per planet.
I would be that guy who took an hour or two to delete them all π
Still will look out for a verdant planet though, or a nice habitable exotic. Funny thing too is I thought moons didnt have water and yet I get showers lol. Guess thats purple systems for you
Think you can report them but probably not your own...
Could be useful for directions or something but usually just a random message in them.
They are very infrequently helpful
just avoid populated locations like that.
I have never run into some other players base or comm station in the wild though.
Guess they can be useful for community locations.
what on earth is this galactic core ive been jumping and jumping across multiple systems and still not there and i read the galactic core blurb
Are you talking about my home?
I dunno if I wanna do all the work but I'm thinking some modders could make an expansion mod for the game, like has some missions, an adventure and unlocks some tech like a recipe for rangefinders, a use for curio weapons like the solar gun, etc. It could use the glass stars and shadow stars and add some fan-lore for it.
seeing them being acknowleged would certainly be something.
Pretty. What lush type?
looks to be a dissonant jungle
It's temperate and it's a broken resource world if anybody wants to farm there
late-late game is locating a purple shadow star by mapping an entire region. ^_^
All over the place are buried salvage data next to caches. Two resonators side by side or meshed together. Groups of radiant shards 6-10 a piece
Can I get a taxi to Ontiniangp?
Short bit of farming I walked out with stacks of shards and almost a dozen echo locators
-# late-late-late game is waiting for "Processing will begin within 24 hours" to actually finish
!starcablink
#nmscord-hub does taxi too
My bad I didnβt even see that!
hello guys
this is my new friend his name is jonathan everyone say hi jonathan
Hi Jonathan
That's only galaxy 13...super easy and fast to get there. Go to a featured base in Eissentam(galaxy 10) then use portals to get to galactic core and jump through galactic core 3 times. But make sure to use a ship empty of all tech that can be removed except the Indium drive. a MT empty of all optional tech. And uninstall all the exosuit tech you can. Super fast and easy to get there. You can make it in less than an hour.
-# ....he probably asked for a taxi so he didn't have to core jump 3 times
Sure but it's a super short and easy trip. Very little effort involved.
Dang, Iβm 91 hours deep into NMS and am feeling like a true enthusiast. π«‘
IMO Hello Games made it too easy to cross galaxies. I kinda get why they did it, because otherwise almost nobody would get to the outer galaxies and there's 255 legitimately accessible galaxies but still. There is something to be said about a relaxing 4+ hour warp trip. Probably much shorter now with freighters doing 5k+ ly jumps without any SC slots dedicated to the hyperdrive and more with SC slots. But still...nice, relaxing trip. It's been years since I did one of them.
addict*
Ftfy
Fr but almost 100 hours tho π³
Welcome to the nip nip den. We don't offer counseling services
it brings me great pain to say I'm gonna have to put jonathan down
Well that was quick
That's sad. I really thought it was meant to be
My infra-knife went from 97k dps down to 68k for not reason, no idea why
rip Jon
in memory of jonathan
2025-2025
I cannot hold focus long enough. The allure of exploration is too strong
He was a good boy π’
Taken from us too soon.

The boss fights in this game are pretty easy ngl
Moog understands what no man's sky is really about better than any of us
Probably why we can't directly pilot freighters. Would be collecting NPC ships like flies on a windshield.
It's like starship trooper. Massive open space to travel in...... Everybody's slamming together like bumper cars
turns
-50 standing due to destroyed starships
RIP Jonathan π
Core jumps are still hard, I have travelled trough more than 80 galaxies, and I can confirm that it takes a lot patience and effort
Had to go repair a couple frigates. Got done and decided to admire my pirate dreadnaught freighter. Seen something stuck on it, got closer and realized it was a solar ship lodged on some large arch like structure.
To be fair, the crashing happens near the destinations rather than on the way

Eh, time consuming but not hard or with much effort. There is another trick too. If you jump through one black hole before jumping through the first galactic center you will spawn close to the center of the next galaxy...this will keep happening until you close and reboot the game. So you can even cut the whole finding and activating portals step.
I may try doing that
Probably tried flying through the arch TBH. Either way massive fail lol.
Finished making a new thing in #nms-media message , trying to go the fan-made story route for NMS
Got a bunch of us online to do some filming stuff
Can of energy drink in one hand, NMS on the screen and keyboard in the other lol
Question for those who have a lot of time invested in this game... I have 12 hours in the game, haven't really done a whole lot I am past the point to where I can travel to other galaxies... My base has been quickly developing and I am wondering if I should seek out a better location than I have for a main base setup. Is there an idea planet that I can start building a main base and not have to move it again?
This game really brought back! β€οΈ
Really depends on the style of world you want to build on.
Paradise Planets are popular as they are essentially worlds as close to Earth as you can get... Basically, habitable, peaceful worlds, mix of land and oceans, abundant in resources.
However
First of all, do you mean galaxies or star systems?
I love airless worlds
For the atmosphere
Barren wastelands, but look so cool
And low gravity aha
yeah sorry
star systems
if y'all are a civ, have y'all claimed the glass stars in your region(s?) yet?
Idc if its close to earth I just want somewhere I can find resources when needed
Ooo, again depends on what you're looking for, it comes down to personal taste for the sort of vibe you want. Or if you want to build a mining world for lots of units like Indium Systems.
@uncut orbit I got lucky and there was a Bountiful Planet I based on in my starting system... are you on normal mode or permadeath?
We have some of our explorers going for the two hidden star types π
sick lol
normal first playthrough didn't even know that was an option
don't leave 3E8 untouched
yeah, Permadeath can't see normal/survival players. I'm on permadeath, otherwise I'd dump resources on you
No territory is beyond us heheh
moog39 of 3E8
and what is this I'm hearing about "glass" stars? I know purple systems are unlocked lategame, but glass stars is new to me, or is that just glitching portal jumping.
As enticing as that is I prefer the grind, I just realized that some of the new items I can build require me to travel outside of my system and was wondering if their were planets that were prefered for later game
@uncut orbit Not really. It's down to asthethics. Some like to build on extreme worlds or at the bottom of a 1200-foot ocean
Or even forgo a planet base and just use a freighter.
Im sure moog is gonna explain more, but its basically stars only partially accessible by normal means
-# (that's my personal favorite strategy)
Alright thanks for the advice guys haha
get a portal code for any region you want, except start it with

. it takes you to a star that doesn't show up on the map and it shows up as a different star. you can't warp to it, but you can portal to it.
If you want resources and all that.
Find a Level 3 economy Indium (Blue) Star System that has a Paradise planet included in 5+ worlds for the System, then you've found a System that will typically have plenty of most of what you need π
-# the different star you see the system as on the map is also the region's shadow star counterpart, meaning you can find them reliably and incredibly easy now.
So it is glitching portals. Or is that just a weird-ity of the math system used to generate addresses
Generally supports most things with only specific items requiring travel
the latter
thanks I will look out for it
There are two types of hidden Star Systems aren't there? Dark/Phantom and Glass?
They're difference being how you get to them
shadow stars are the ones that portals don't work on.
Shadow, not dark yeah aha
there's one in Hilbert like that, I went and got first contact on its corresponding glass system
There being systems that portals dont work on really confuses me, lol
We've mapped out a fair few around our nearby regions, had some of us place some outposts down to let us return to them
Perfect places for lonely people.
Save Editor is useful for making it easier to travel and discover them if you don't have someone already on one, or know the means via ingame.
No need to share coordinates.
More like sharing coordinates won't work
Man, I already find that purple systems can be rather isolating due to most players seeming to not have progressed to that point, but theres even more layers of separation, lol
This is why I think they should make them accessible normally instead of a storylock. It's just another engine upgrade
purple systems have their own shadow stars, and unlike current normal shadow stars, there's no glass systems to portal to. you have to find it manually
The story lock makes sense
yeah it does but i still like my way better π
Dang
back in hilbert they scoped out the smallest known region and went to every portal address in it in order to deduce the shadow star, because purple systems weren't a thing.
Is Hilbert populated with lots of groups? I'm pissing about in that galaxy at the moment
confirmed cannot go to hilbert in expidetion
(mostly because story took me to essiantam but I didn't go into a station and warped back, so no place to return to, heh)
i tried
it sends you back to the expedition start planet
do not save
exit and do not save immediately
if you have time, here's the coords to Delta Majoris Hilbert Umbra's glass star
what a great way for hellogames to troll people that think hilbert isnt abandoned
they wont allow you to exit euclid
thats so odd
how would it even be possible for anyone to make it there in time
its not like normal players had enough time
Why would expeditions ever allow jumping galaxies?
because its possible\
That's the exact reason why they wouldnt
If you jumped during an expedition, and it worked, youd softlock the game at best
well shit sent me back to start planet
what a slap in the face
4 hours
for nothing
Aka, the method to stop you from softlocking
at least 100 warps
Would the organic frigate regenerate in a system? So eventually I'd have 30 clones of it? Or is it a one and done
It's fortunate that there's one in place π
Also it wasnt for nothing, you found out what happens
I dont think so
feel sorry for those that cannot save edit to fix their broken shit
once it respawns you
actually i dont know *what * happened
i exited
and did not save
all i know is , it said euclid galaxy and i was like wtf
...I'd assume the vast majority of players is just interested in completing the expedition... π
"Supposed to be" is strong phrasing, lol
hilbert might only be the second galaxy, but I still respect when people live in it over euclid
Yeah, but youre still supposed to complete the expedition
can you really call that freeloading
sure
I mean in regards to "intentional game design"
you're not really getting much out of it
my build limit is no longer limited
i had build limit in normal save
im free now
more room now
so far i have 30 bases
you haven't considered just like,
moving some of your inactive bases to a different save?
You can do that?
with a save editor you could
Oh wait save editing
At this point it surprises me when someone lives in Euclid
but with mods i'm pretty sure you can also remove the build limit, so
Oh, that should have been a reply to moog...
but yeah , the expeditions always give you more construction free space then you had in normal save
its like yay
it's fine. I get it lmao
it was kind of a jerk move to make us mess with corvettes in an expedition with all Abandoned systems, so you have the Long Walk to and from your ship
i built at least a single skyscraper on evry world
i am no longer wondering how you maxed out your build limit
if you find one that is like rediculously tall, thats mine
and its not just prefab
or domes
Really? Once they get the option I think most players do end up choosing to stay in euclid
Are there secondary objectives during Expeditions that arenβt listed in checkpoint goals, or will following the ones listed get me all the exclusive items?
Was it within the upload limit? Lol
yeah sure
in the event that i do ever go back to the starting planet, i might find it
you cant miss it
I never really got that "home" mentality from euclid, because it was overshadowed by me realizing there's all these other galaxies hardly anyone touches
i mean it's an entire planet, it's pretty easy to miss most things
I was going to add that it shouldn't surprise me, but it does lol.
The fact is many people never finish Artemis Path, and many that do don't ||reset the simulation||.
i make my homes very tribal-like
I require a nest home, but I'm willing to move if I find a nicer place
I'm curious has anyone ever seen a flower dog this big? They are normally like 0.7 meters tall when this one is like 2.7 meters
I just happen to be rather thorough in my search
and then after I was in eissentam, I realized there were an entire 24 other lush galaxies. fast forward to now
Whats the very largest something can be? 5-6m?
I believe 8 meters naturally and maybe up to 12 meters with eggs
I think the farthest I've intentionally traveled from my prime save's spawn system is like, 20k ly, lol
...close perhaps? This is usually their size when I find them.
what do you mean?
iif i get to where that planets were in normal save, will that shit still be there
or is building pointless
and its gonna get deleted
are you asking if your expedition builds will still be there when you exit?
they should be, if you uploaded them
If its uploaded, maybe. Idk when it comes to your save's build limit being reached
i'm not sure what happens when- yeah
cause normally those new bases would just be added to your bases in your regular save
guess its time to go around to every base computer and destroy the base
Mine are usually way smaller in my experience I just wanted to see if anyone had the same experience
I have bases from past expeditions that persisted
But there were some others that I imagine didnt persist because I didnt upload them
idk how to do that with save edit yet
I have found some the size of blobs too. So there's that.
i've never needed to, but it shouldn't be hard to find a tutorial on it
so when you have construction limit reached, thats when you know you effed up?
i mean not necessarily effed up, just means you need to clear some space
I think theres a secret additional limit, but idk how it works
Well, every base, and every part, is saved to your save file
if they let you build indefinitely a base, give me a few months or so and the thing will be teraformed
or be just filled with goddamn trees
Ehh
it does become impractical after a certain point to keep all that data around, just because of how it has to be stored
Expanding a single base infinitely would most likely lead to the same issue that astroneer has with large bases
then you'd complain because your game is slow
its just i would put grass and trees all over a barren planet
Last I knew it was 3,000 parts per base and 16,000 parts per se file
Ive heard 21,000 parts
yeah and your game would hate you for it
1,000,000,000 trees
Yep, there was a bump in the limit when Voyagers was released.
are you playing nms or running a powerpoint presentation?
great way to turn your pc into an air fryer
the world may never know.
wdym
they mean your frames are gonna go kerplunk
But the 3000 part limit isnt a hard limit, it just means the base cant be uploaded
not if i play potat setting
no, even if you play potat setting
the performance gains from reduced graphical fidelity can only get you so far
If you play potat setting, you won't even see most of the base parts you place
basically the more shit you have the more you lag
i mean duh
why wouldnt it
its math
it aint rocket science
Yeah it's not even close to that. Even when you add in 1,000 parts you can put in a freighter that's still only 17,000
but what is the tallest a building can be
I hit the build part limit on three different save files back in the day
Similarly (though I find it kinda funny), in astroneer your save takes longer to load the more terrain you destroy
200 floors?
One reason why I'm a nomad now π
200 floor building in NMS?
turns out the first shadow star I found with the glass method has a paradise planet. shadow star planet hunting is about to go through the roof
would be like nothing because ship would go above it in a milisecond
and then youd be like aww
How far back in the day? Lol
I would sure hope so. It's a space shape, after all
Here's a spooky ocean pic I got just now for Halloween :)
cant even fly a survey camera drone around
hey thats a great idea, a camera drone
go places so you dont have to
Spooky
That's called photo mode
Use photomode to survey
https://www.reddit.com/r/NMSCoordinateExchange/s/1rBqm1uuFj
Was my last big build. After that I really just couldn't find anymore inspiration
no no i mean it would be like a remote controlled thingy
except ur not in it
and are impervious to damage
holy panchiko machine
sounds like the photo mode camera
I'm so cool I'm already impervious to damagd
i use phomode like a periscope
I used to make games, race tracks, PVP arena and anything that would draw in the community. Kind of just got burnt out on it..,
photomode has a limit in distance and elevation
I use photomode to make dope ass pictures.
I haven't taken one in awhile yet tho
Rly should
also it would be cool if you could make your third person camera free rotate
and not shoulder
You can
Pretty sure
I use photo mode to look at the landscape around me when I'm flying around an extreme hellhole that's covered in fog
You can
mod?
No
Nope
Settings, but i forgot which
so it would be over shoulder anymore?
I think it's either free camera or fixed camera
Its follow or free
I mean, you asked for rotation, not distance
when i said free rotate, i meant can get it off of third person shoulder view (gears of war third person mode)
To me it would be, it just doesnt change the distance
I wonder what controls would be needed for the distance, unless it was only able to be changed in settings
Feels like it always yeets my viewpoint far away from where I want it
guys will the atlas corvette parts be gone after the expedition?
Nah
where would you be a able to get them then?
But if you want to craft them yourself, you gotta do the expedition
look at the sky before you switch to build cam to stop that
the ground prevents it from zooming away
Asking players who do have them
oh
HG will probably rerun the expedition some weeks from now -- can't complete it now?
What on earth does anti air defenses mean here? Lol
it didnt wrong text
yup

i like how fishing wasnt as prevalent in this one
chips (crisps if your brit, not fries) and gravy is a good combo. why didn't I think of that before.
here some russian?
unlike the previous
i need answer to one question
so just the atlas parts are limited, the new ones aren't?
my fly is robbed
Was there more than one fishing quest in corvettes expedition?
Exactly
Oh, you mean the fishing expedition
that shit sucked
k
The one where fishing as a mechanic was introduced
yes it sucked
!russianskylink @loud kite
@loud kite https://discord.gg/NHryBSM
And its entire theme revolved around the new fishing features
thx

Yeah I imagine most expeditions would have less fishing than it
game was still kinda shit back then , it only got good when purple systems got added
ect
i still played

Strange take, but sure, I guess
i deleted a lot of my old 2023 and 2024 bases
indeed
it's still kinda halloween, if you're bored hit up some shadow stars
IMO it's going down hill with the catering to everyone and everything.
hell yeah
For me its definitely Halloween
-# oh yeah it is for me too but ik someone's gonna knock me for saying it is when their timezone shows nov 1
yes, NMS is turning into an MMO or console experience game, just mindless make-work junk. Like big box games., just ramming things in.
Yeah I dont really see nms going downhill
its not got any microtransasstions
i don't see any MMO aspects, personally
I remember saying before that nms is the least mmo mmo to ever exist
updates add little but new content to keep players in the game and keep the game community going.
majority of the time you are alone
multiplayer is bolted onto the side
i do not care for the online aspect, if that went away it wouldnt make me stop
Ngl, this is giving me Minecraft update debate flashbacks
"These updates are so small and add so little content"
two updates ago added things that revolutionized the way the game is played
they switch back and forth between big and small if anything
its one of the few games where i prefer to either be alone, or with only one friend i know
and even with someone else , directions are a pain in the ass
"im lost where are you"
"same planet"
This past year we had purple systems and corvettes added
I completely agree but I guess it depends what everyone wants from the game. Corvettes were a huge thing for a lot of people. Personally my favorite update was probably Expeditions. Being able to go on expeditions and bring epic rewards back to the main save was huge for me. But given the player numbers my guess is Voyagers is probably the most popular one...customizable ships with ship interiors and space walking was a dream come true for many.
gas giants suck tho
Those arent the only thing in purple systems
there's definitely a lot of missed opportunities with them.
And they all have the newer type of terrain generation
but gas giants are a giant dissapointment
not really
I think the (intended) main attraction of gas giants is their moons
their take is valid for me. no clouds.
perfect villian lair
Im not saying there isnt room for improvement, of course
I hope not π
Usually I visit the gas giant and leave the moons alone.
surface of gas giant is perfect evil lair
the way it snaps from the space texture to fog when flying down definitely isn't polished
I mainly think that because theyre guaranteed to have 5 moons
at night time theres constant thunderstorms
And at daytime!
Usually I can barely tell the time of day on gas giants, lol
They do have a lot of moons. But my guess is the gas giants, non-gas giants, and deep oceans were the biggest attractions. I know that deep oceans was something I wished for since the game launched in 2016. The game was amazing before purple systems but deep oceans was a dream come true for me.
pretty easy
night is blue. day is obnoxious
its hard to build on them because gravity is so high
Gas giants always have 5 moons, the maximum amount a giant planet can have
I am aware, of course. I have some 7k hours in this game lol.
why does at least one or more of the moons suck tho
empty moon
barren moon
lifeless moon
ect
Thats like asking "why does at least one or more planet suck in every star system"
i mean its common
6 planetary bodies is the max per system...any combination of planets and moons, 6 is the most any system can have and all giants(both gas and non-gas) have 5 moons.
it's a break from the life and constant activity on every single planet otherwise
Yeah, and the emphasis on that in the game seems to at least partially indicate to me that the guaranteed 5 moons, and the backdrop of the gas giant, is more of an attraction for gas giant systems than the surface
DYK, the Atlas and blackhole have planet ID's (you can' tportal to them though). These are ID's 7 and 8, or 9. I think stations have a planet ID also.
i will admit its fun to use exocraft on them
the nomad can go like 300+ speed
on low grav moon
Also, the terrain generation is so interesting in purple systems, that its had me stop and admire the terrain on a dead giant before
same with the motorcycle
Whats broken resource mean?
maybe also the anomaly
Gas giants are not very hospitable places to live. But worth setting up a base there for easy access to storm crystals to craft Warp Hypercores. The never ending storm is actually nice when you need a bunch of storm crystals...don't have to worry about the storm ending and having to wait around.
Find a cave
how's everybody making money on this game? cause I'm like 70 hours in and I've just been running around farming and selling salvage data and I feel like it's gonna take me forever to get enough cash for a decent ship
if I was going to be staying on a gas giant, I wanted a sky color that I could actually bear being in for several hours to build in
Can run !faq-units in #nms-commands for most ways
A popular one is scrapping crashed ships
Sit in the anomaly for long enough and you'll probably get a ton of high value items
10 curious deposit balls on a webbed planet.... pretty neat, pretty neat
Tracen academy progress
Personally I have advanced farms set up that automate all the resources needed to craft 120 Stasis Devices per day. A bit unwieldy as it takes 90 minutes or so of refining stuff in 10 refiners but 1.8 billion per day.
Gonna need a full tour when it's ready
eh, its ok i gues.............
jk, looks great!
it's actually much smaller in terms of what's walkable, the interior is a bit small but it's detailed!
thanks xD
I found a big-ass cave on a gas giant after I already built my base on the surface. Would have been so much easier.
Sometimes I feel proud of myself for my base and then I see something like that and feel so intimidated by your skillπ
That is very true
Might look into that cause it's way better than what I'm doing, took me like 5 hours to make 7 mill farming salvage data ππ
Mhm... any storm crystals there?
its fairly late-game. take a lot of setup
in the cave? probably. not sure.
It s a huge network and I never explored.
And salvaged data matters more for their primary purpose: unlocking stuff in the Anomaly.
I did the same when I started playing, and would later regret selling so many when there were better ways to make units lol. Start keeping them.
SD farms take a while to set up. While not as profitable, an immediately available way to farm units is running trade routes. If you have the inventory space to buy out all the most valuable trade items from each station you can make 100 mil plus in like half an hour. Not too bad.
There is also the power of donut
Definetly gonna start leeping them, still gotta run around this planet for salvage scrape so I can get more parts to make a corvette so ai just farm them both at the same time
super easy way to make money early game is to refine chlorine. you can start with salt and convert it to chlorine or just find some chlorine to start. any amount..
in a medium or large refiner, chlorine + oxygen expands to 6X chlorine and a stack sells for about $1m or so.
so you need a bit of chlorine and a supply of oxygen
Oh, the chlorine method... I lamented when it was nerfed.
Made my first few millions that way lol. It's still worth it I guess.
Actually I recommend getting a nutrient injestor as soon as you can, even just screwing around with cooking, you'll likely find some useful buffs
Found a system in Euclid with a planet almost completely inside another planet....
Balloon > Diplo > Atlas > Bug > Sunset > Face > Tree > Fish > Galaxy > Diplo > Tree for Portal
pic?
Wait a minute
Nice idk you can mix them together, I already have a clorine farm too
you can't just drop finding a collision and not have pics
Can't not high enough lvl in discord... I gave you the system gliyphs instead π
#nms-media
I wonder if theres systems where collided planets weren't noticed because one was completely inside the other
there's a collision pretty close to my starting system
I've seen someone's system once with a moon completely inside another planet
i wish they would make collided planets look like planets are coliding. space chunks and fire and stuff
close
I wonder what it would be like to walk onto the smaller planet from the larger, lol
i find sentinel ships a great way to make money too, just set up a base at a harmonic camp and you can get a ton of them and salvage them for like 30 mil each
The smaller one is like, rocky mountains.
physics and rendering gets weird where they cllide
sometimes you can, usually it's just janked.
Nomad it is then
Oh wow
Very rare glitch indeed. A rare screw-up of procedural generation. Nice to admire from a distance but I don't want to land on that lol.
He's just a happy little guy :3
Dear lord. That's appropriate for halloween's night.
Should I make a new NMS save? I'm at endgame with my current one (which is on Relaxed difficulty)
The current expedition makes me want to try a higher difficulty
If you want to, go for it
you can't land on the moon. it's intangible, and it just upwarps you to the planet
edit: oh. that collision whoops
I was stoked as hell when I found my first collision
I've never found one myself. Then again I'm not exactly a great explorer...
I was going for that the flight of the dragonfly vibe. basically rocheworld, one side water and the other desert
Depends on what you want to do. I am still playing on the main save I created at launch in 2016. I have over 6k hours in that save alone. It's where I keep all my stuff. All the best ships, upgraded to the max, maxed freeighter, frigate fleet, exocraft, and exosuit. Stasis device farms, all player titles unlocked and maxed faction standing, etc. etc. etc. I've done more things on that save file than I can even remember right now.
At the moment I am crafting all the best foods for the nutrient ingestor for the best bonuses. I can always find something to do on my main save file.
I found a spot in part of the network off the hub cavern where I took the pic.
Are those storm crystals or minerals that look like them?
my eyes tell me the latter
oh yer right, damn, lol. I was tracking storm crystal icon and it led me there, lol
rip shitty old chlorine farm base. I already have a cool new base with 20 refiners attached to a wall so your one purpose is gone
now I found it.. just one there.
I'm surprised there is one lol.
Storm crystals are plentiful, use your binoculars during storms. More are never too far away. But not visible in binoculars when it's not storming.
well it would be good to have a little storm crystal farm at the base in the cave. may need to hook up remote bases.
there's lots above ground
I don't think they move around on the gas giants do they? since it's always storming?
They don't move, no. And gas giants are especially good because the storms are never ending so the storm crystals are always visible. But on the surface you have to be mindful of the tornadoes...if one picks you up it can be fatal for a new character that isn't very upgraded. Takes some careful jetpack usage to avoid serious damage.
ah so this one
Want to be able to build in abandoned space stations
Yes this one
think i can post the video in here
talk enough and your name will turn orange
ah dang you get that at level 5 huh
darn, i had a video of a 3D map were making i wantd to show off
Maybe in future updates, hard to predict what HG are up to. There are some reasons to think we'll be able to build in space stations at some point in the future but that's an educated guess more than anything else and even if it happens there's no guarantee it will also be doable on abandoned space stations.
Ive done the autophage quests , do I now need to finish the atlas path to get access to the quest that opens purple galaxies ?
Systems not galaxies
how is there some reason, what do you know
Happy with anything they come up with atp. Love this game
They've been around, they just know things lol
One thing I really hope for corvettes is a star ship docking back , just hang that puppy off the back live a smart car on an rv
Beautiful sunrise right after I defeated the jellyfish and beat the expedition! :3
Yeah. The initial concept is great, the execution (aside from multiplayer and planet variety) was good and since beyond the game's been amazing. I got introduced when someone IRL gifted the game to me (Visions I think) and within like an hour of gameplay I was saying "This game is awesome."
Well there are the space station cores and the core overrides. They play some very minor role in a couple of quests, and you can erase negative standing with a race of aliens if you go full pirate on them and they really hate you but we'll probably be able to do a lot more with them in the future is my guess.
Not sure if I want to handle my items first or just start building a new corvette in creative...
I think a lot of people are wanting that rn
Insert Emeril Coin to play No Gek's Sky
Even some sort of small detachable pod would be cool
you know, ive wondered the same things at times with the space station. Always seemed like they were gonna come back it to but never did
I wondered that , Iβve only used them once so far in a quest and that was for the autophage one I just did
What I want more than docking normal ships is docking corvettes and docking more corvettes on those corvettes. I want to see players congregate in a system and form a giant Clustervette
Especially when I first saw "Station Override"
Do you think they're going to add some sort of station claim?
Well they are still updating the game and recently they have brought things to the game that players had mostly given up on after eight years...I don't think anyone thought we'd still be getting deep oceans and ship interiors after all this time but we did.
Or your own customisable space station
The upkeep for that. Dear lord.
I know this is starting to become an nms future channel type thing but imagine if as a result of that each claimant had a color blob surrounding their claimed systems. No Man's Skyarris
I think being able to claim some systems would make our map more interesting lol
wow living ships are expensive
Wdym?
Well who do you think is going to manage the station make sure itβs stocked. And no crime?
Oh my bad. Done it again. Killed the chat.
Frigates or the starship?
starship
::revives with oxygen::
Yeah though I think at that point there'd have to be a multi-galaxy distribution for where you start, it's surprisingly easy to find a discovered system in areas near the starting ring in euclid and there's a sudden dropoff in player activity as soon as you hit hilbert dimension
Sorry, I was typing
Yea, and tedious
I mainly asked what you meant because I didn't know if you meant in-game upkeep or irl upkeep (i.e. stations messing with game servers or whatever)
also how do i switch multitools
Game π
Your utility bar
A lot of player activity is along the regions near the center of the Y coordinates. Go up or down a couple regions and discovered systems drop off, even toward the center
thanks
I mean, IF they do implement something like space station ownership, buildable bases in space stations, etc. then anything you own and build yourself will almost certainly be safe like with all things you can do or own yourself right now. But do I trust that the servers will always behave and show that station as owned to other players or spawn your base so others can see it? Absolutely not...server reliability to see other players' stuff in NMS is generally very dodgy.
Yeah
I could totally see an alternate universe version of No Man's Sky where instead of controlling freighters we ended up building our own space stations that could warp between systems. It's consistent with the space anomaly as well
alright, enough for today
Thatβs because of base upload limits. Youβll only ever see the 13 most recently uploaded places. I guess that would apply at a station too
Hey... I know that mansion... I think
it's Tracen academy.
Oh
from Uma Musume
comically small landing pads
I made stone henge
y e
good morning
brilliant
howdy
hey artemis!
I leave these everywhere
Yeah and that is when the servers actually behave...a lot of the time you get to others' bases and the marker is there but the bases don't spawn so you see empty terrain and sometimes the markers don't even spawn either.
looks great!
hi joan
And I upload 'em
That's Kaer Morhenge
More to follow
Maybe a pyramid too
I saw a killer tutorial in the bases chat the other day
each day it gets closer to an upload...soon
Put two in a row and between them is a portal. Literal portal leylines
prettyyy
Oh me oh my is that amazing
I stuck a portal in the big rear doorway
It also lines up with the sun at some angles
That's beautiful
guys when im claiming my first freighter do i HAVE to take ? if i decline would i loose the opportunity to get a free friegther?
The top of the academy is even prettier
Very true π€£ I would tax a visitation fee for all players to help run it , like an animal shelter but more profit for me
Nice
No, you don't have to
Abnormal resource placement. Multiple loot points on top of each other. Or even meshed together. That planet is probably one of the best I've seen for that
I'd suggest waiting till you find a good one
good one as in? A class or S?
Every pirate ship needs an office
Peak
Yes, S might take a while tho
I usually wait for an A
hmm okayy
how can i find different freigthers? do i just travell different systems and hope i could find one?
When you warp you have a chance to have the encounter
ah okayy
Especially pirate systems
In empty galaxys , is there no atlas stations ?
there are atlas stations in budullangr.
God damnit how do I get out of an empty galaxys
Iβm in budallangr and there is nada
did you ask polo
Ohhhh I forgot about polo , your a smart dude ty
alternatively, I'm so far down the story that I can see atlas stations around me as-is. they're there, I'm in budullangr momentarily to see it
You can jump from galaxy to galaxy Willy nilly ?
you can leave bases in each one or hit up space stations to return
Why does this guys s class ship suck so bad
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh damnnn
You my friend have all the brain cells
Iβm trying to unlock the mission to get into purple systems , Iβve done the autophage quests and I read that I need to complete the atlas path too and have the star seed ?
pretty sure. there's also faq commands for #bot-spam or just asking in #nms-questions but I'm not smart enough to know them by heart
My b class dreadnought ππ€£
Why does this s class suck
The korvak
He can't compete against 38,500
With his measly 800
Idk can you even own two of these
Why can't you own two capital ships damnit
God why does nobody I know play this dam game
Yes

this game looks nice
I like how having a gas giant on a wonder projector just gives you a terrestrial planet lmao
For frigate
How many do u guys hire per 1 type?
Some 5 or 6, keeps the fleet balanced
Usually 4 or 5 so you can mix and match as needed, yeah
All pirate....for the aura
I havent bothered with pirates yet. i figure if i do ill just scrap a combat frigate but mine are pretty good
You can tell by their stats
I don't know, never had a pirate frigate lol.
well that's real nice of the devs thanks I went back to Rendezvous III and I can't even get out of the station because it requires a atlaspass V3 Expedition 20 I guess I won't be completing it
Well i do know raider have really better combat stat
Do they join fighting too?
Like how normal combat frigate does when we do hunt pirate in same system with freighter
Weird, shouldn't need the pass to get out of the teleporter room
Also support ship have 2 type
1 is monile platform supply and 1 is fuel bulker
Should i split them too?
this is the third problem I've had since I've started
Not necessarily, although supports mostly make sense when they are saving you fuel. But don't overthink it too much π
players for the win somebody build a base luckily on a planet nearby
Actually nevermind mobile supply platform is the evolved version of fuel bulker
But i guess 10 support ship should be good
2 grade s supply completely cut off fuel requirement
Well for most of the time
