Genre serves two purpuses, it's focus for developers and informs players what type of game they can expect.

MMO doesn't just revolve around there being a lot of players but how the whole system is constructed. What you would usually expect from an MMO doesn't really exist in NMS.

Same goes for FPS, NMS offers players shooting and doing it in first person, but it doesn't really have focus or features you would expect from your usual FPS.

NMS is a sandbox front and center, focused on exploration and player freedom. Main plot is rather basic and it's main purpose is to introduce player to the world, shooting is just something you can do, it's also not a real space flight sim bc starships don't behave as they should.

PlanetSide decorations get added into your corvette parts somehow. I think it's a glitch.

Like you can place a decoration manually. But sometimes you're not allowed to delete that decoration unless you go into Corvette building mode.

I think they are trying to limit the flexibility a bit. They don't stop the glitching but they do try to avoid making it easy for players to create things like lag factories or things that are hard to support officially, with too many options.
