you can find multitools in the following, Minor Settlement 1, ANY space station has 2, sentinel pillar, harmonic camp, and from various NPC quests on planets not very common, and usually junk.

By getting better S class or maxed X class modules, and making optimal use of supercharged slots...which requires MTs with specific SC slot layouts. Neutron Cannon can go up to near 200k damage though it's a slow firing shotgun weapon with a wide spread. Boltcaster goes up to around 56k damage but is very accurate and very fast firing so a maxed boltcaster will generally outpace the Neutron Cannon on damage.

when searching id focus on appearance only, all ships can be upgraded to be good, but having it start as A or S class is nice

Problem with that will be that (again, without mods) they're locked behind the main stories, and depending on your playstyle it might take a while to get there

Depends very strongly on your playstyle. I'm a completionist, so it takes me ... way too long even on my 15th playthrough, but you can speed through it once you've got the hang of things. Can't give you an exact number tho, maybe 20-30??

Definitely. I still haven't done everything, and I have over 1800 hours. Still haven't seen a gas giant or deep sea planet in game because that is new content and I've started a new playthrough to unlock it

NMS comes and goes for me. Currently I'm in a surprisingly long continuous phase again, but there are also times where I don't play for a year or so. But whenever I crave the endless void, I come back to it

Yes. You can customize difficulty at game start, and unless you lock it (which you shouldn't if you're completely new), you can change them on the fly

You can turn off ground or space combat completely, if you feel like it - except if you choose Permadeath, which has its own servers that are separate from the others, so the Anomaly (which is the multiplayer hub where you can meet other players) is far less populated in that mode)

You'll have plenty of that individual freedom. The chances of you running into other players outside of the Anomaly or Expeditions are miniscule. You might occasionally find systems that have been discovered by other players a couple of years ago, but running into anyone in person "out in the wild" is less likely than winning the lottery
