hello, i have a few questions, why does the stream lag but not the game itself, i have 5950x 32gb ram OC 3200mhz, 3080 ti even when streaming from GPU it still lags, i play Star citizen

What is the framerate of the game? Are you running OBS as an administrator?

I've had similar issues, but running OBS as an admin fixed those issues.

Probably your encoder settings are wrong

the oc i have applied was unstable enough to cause issue the obs doesn t have many settings which can affect much

but i have gone to 6k just to be in the guidelines

all good now

the ram was rated 3000 i have applies oc for 3000 volts and all that with 3200 mhz

now is stable

You’d be surprised. There’s a psycho visual tuning checkbox that when disabled actually improves performance. Still haven’t figured out why it isn’t hard-coded as off. Glad you were able to figure it out

hi im having issues with changing the alert sound in the overlay i did awhile ago and it worked for my follower notification but this one isnt working for my sub notification

there's no such thing as "line wrapping" on Twitch due to it being IRC. That formatting is based on the width of the chat box on your screen. You can create a shoutout command and play around with spacing to see what it looks like, but the experience will be different for everyone because there is no actual formatting of twitch chat.

Hello. I'm experiencing a very strange thing with streaming. When I stream, my microphone seems to be picking up this incredibly strange noise. There is nothing in my room that makes this sound, so I am utterly perplexed. It's a steady beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep and it's OBNOXIOUS. Noise suppression and noise gating doesn't do anything to help.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

i've seen mic issues before that were fixed by using using a different cord or different USB port.

like if you have a USB mic plugged into a keyboard or front panel port, try one of the main motherboard ports

Oh! I've figured it out! ^^ Turns out, my webcam mic is utter trash, and OBS was using that instead of my actual mic. I didn't even know the webcam had a mic, haha.

Hello I've had this question for the longest time and i can't seem to figure it out, I try to stream Valorant but its very hard to play when I start my stream my Frames always drop more than half and become very unstable with stutters, this is also the case with other games but not always, its mainly an issue for valorant which sucks because i mainly play valorant. I spent quite alot on my pc so its a shame that this happens. My specs Are i9-10900k 64gb of ddr4 3000 mhz ram and 3090 for my graphics card, the pc is adequantly cooled as can be with a 3090 and its cpu, with a aio. My settings on obs are exactly the same as they were with my last pc which had a rx580 and a mid ryzen cpu

any help with this would be amazing as im very frustrated ive tried tons of tips found on the internet with actual valorant

even just having obs open drops my frames down nearly 100 frames its less noticable here since its still around my refresh rate on my monitor but still it drops

odds are your encoder settings are incorrect if it's the stream

Games dropping frames, I was just thinking if this might be as result to streaming, because even having obs open drops those frames in game on titles that aren't demanding in most cases.

Well look at it this way, you’re driving your game with your gpu, and then you’re trying to encode probably 1080p60 on the same GPU at which point your GPU is starting to struggle….

I know of a Streamer which has (its not the same as you guys are describing I think) but its a scene made in Unreal Engine, that takes datapoints from Twitch to populate what you see in that scene and it reacts in real time, its really cool. the streamer is called ExcessiveProfanity, and this bit shows during his breaks, I am not sure who the developer was that built this for him

I have two questions for y'all:

1. For some reason, even though I am using a HQ DSLR to stream, my output onto my stream always looks like I'm using a soft-focused lens. Tried messing with camera settings and nothing is seeming to work. Also to note, on OBS it looks more crisp than it does on my stream. Any thoughts on why/how to fix?

2. I am about to have a room dedicated to content creation, including streaming, and was curious about the best way to soundproof, ranging from cheaper to most expensive?

For context, the room will have a door, a window (decent sound proofing, but not anything extra fancy and will be next to a busy road), and two open closets (next to each other on a single wall). Door is next to the front door which can get noise from the apartment building hallway (for some reason the front doors are like not sound proofed at all).
Planning on furnishing with a couch, a fur rug, and floor to ceiling curtains in front of the closets. I am willing to put a curtain in front of the window, but I do love the natural light for streaming during the day. Not sure if I should just pop some sound proofing panels, but even then I'm not sure if there is one brand that is better than another. Bonus points if solutions are also aesthetically pleasing.

Hmm. I haven't heard about that brand before and unfortunately I am not seeing it pop up on my amazon either. First instinct would be the good ol' unplug, restart, and replug everything and making sure everything is plugged in correctly. Then check that all software is up to date. If that doesn't work, I would see if maybe someone else here has familiarity with that device.

Sound proofing is kinda hard, reducing/eliminating echos is a lot easier.

With acoustic foam cheap stuff works okay, but it's hard to attach to the wall; if you pay more you'll get mounting options and sometimes dual density foam.

Hmm. There should be a way as technically since you are using a capture card, the laptop isn’t doing the work to run a game, and is mainly just streaming.

I don’t have much experience with MacBooks tho— but I can probs do a google and see what I can find if no one else has any answers!

@crude zealot you're probably gonna have to lower your output size and/or frame rate

laptops aren't really made for this kind of work, they have trouble handling the thermal load of video encoding

sadly while apple does make hardware encoders available on macbooks (which would largely prevent the problem), the implementation is such that Twitch can't deal with them very well

You can add, remove and make changes to custom commands in chat with !command/!cmd flags:

!command remove (commandname) - allows you to delete a custom command
!command edit (commandname) (commandresponse) - allows you to edit an existing custom command
!command show (commandname) - allows you to see the raw response of a command before variables are used
!command options (commandname) -(flag) - allows you to change settings for an existing custom command

Well, if you have a good processor, you don’t need to worry about GPU, as the streaming PC can use x264.
For a streaming PC you don’t need a powerful GPU like the one for gaming. Either way, I would recommend some from nVidia as their drivers have better support for OBS

There are no "best settings".
Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterward, but not a list of settings.

Hi all, been using streamelements loads as I'm streaming simultaneously on Trovo, Twitch, YouTube & Facebook and its easy once I've made an overlay for one platform to duplicate into the others.
Are they're any streamelements features that work cross platform? How effective would setting up the chat bot be also, I imagine I'd need to do it per platform?

I mean for example it's great streamelements made it easy for me to make a follow alert for each platform, but since each platform is being looked at separately by streamelements they're not queued and can occur simultaneously

8GB is not enough for 4K at max settings. At 1080p it's fine on the vast majority of things. Maybe "light 1440p" was a bit hyperbolic, many things run well at 1440p

A dedicated streaming PC almost never makes any financial or practical sense

Even with my old, pretty weak system I get two computers ago... i5-6600, 16gb RAM, GTX 1070, I would only lose about 1-3fps on anything while streaming.

And by modern standards that computer was slow as an hell:p

Adding a second PC means a whole lot of cost, a whole lot of added complexity, and a lot of variables for things to run correctly, for basically no reward.

There ARE situations in which they offer benefits, but they're hyper specific and you'll know if you need it

I bought a PC last year. Cost me almost $1300. I could've gotten the same model with better specs for $800 if I'd been smarter. Had the PSU die a month in, so I replaced that. Then either my PSU or motherboard started having issues in December/January, and the PSU, or at least a cable, died in late March, and the replacement motherboard I'd already bought was too big for that case, so when I got taxes back, I did a full upgrade on everything except the GPU, which I couldn't afford to replace and still have a computer to put it in.

I have an elgato 60 s which is my capture device. I use a hdmi cable from the elgato with the out input into the T.V. There is an in section where hDMi will connect towards the switch。 There is a usb c cable which goes into my windows laptop capturing my game play, There is one more connector which seems to be a place for my mic.

@gusty wagon Mate, the elgato wave 3 mic is easily one of the best microphones for a decent price tag that you can get! I know so many people who own one (including myself), I've bought two for friends and practically every single one of my streamer friends utilizes it. The most amazing part about it besides the quality of the hardware is that you use the included Wave Link software to act as a audio routing sound board of sorts. Extremely powerful stuff when you can stream ONLY what you want to the stream while still being able to listen to other audio sources on the PC.

And the 'glitch' in your case is just the text area being wider than the background image (it's going to resize automatically if you don't give it a value in pixels)

Hi. I was asking on OBS official discord and I got info I have to post it here. Is there any hope of streaming Escape From Tarkov on the same PC? I have set up everything possible for it and still have encoding problems with missing FPS. With other games is good. My PC Spec: Intel i5-7400 3,00 GHz 4 cores, 16GB RAM DDR4 2400 Mhz, GTX 1660 6GB. I also used preffered set up on twitch still same problem. The fps drops happens when something happens on the map, I am turning off all applications except discord. Is there any hope for that?

By now they should ship with the correct firmware for the board. Typically if it doesn’t you can contact the motherboard company and they’ll send you a “old cpu” which will boot and allow you to update the bios

Aside from wanting it through slave laborzon, I quite enjoy my roccat Vulcan pro with the tactile optical switches

Keychron has optical switches at lower price points

But I'm fairly sure you have to buy directly through them

Generally you want to set Spotify up on a separate audio track so it's excluded from VODs and you don't get copyright strikes

I use YouTube music personally but the process is basically the same

I use VoiceMeeter to create the extra virtual audio inputs, others use virtual audio cable but I never had luck with it

The caveat being, if you're not technically knowledgeable with audio related things, it will be confusing and a half to set up

I have some experience with music and audio production and it confused me at first

I'm doing a VMC avatar (vtuber type 3d model) so I bought a basic $60 Logitech stream 1080 camera

If you're streaming as 60fps it will match your stream, but I don't like streaming at 60fps because twitch doesn't offer a high enough bitrate to not lose detail with heavy motion in games

Is it only disconnecting through OBS?

Have you checked the connection or tried another USB port?

Do you have it connected to a port on your computer or a USB hub?

If it is connected to a USB hub and the hub is an unpowered one. That will be your problem. Just connect it to a port on your computer instead. Otherwise you will need to get a powered USB hub.
