Hi. The app creates an overlay called Mobile, please go to "my overlays" on the site and scroll down - it is at the bottom

This can be edited and will be on stream, but the app does not show the overlay - no need.

AH, i was doing it wrong, i was trying to duplicate it from within the overlay, i got it work by selecting duplicate from the overlay menu instead.

Friend of mine has started getting crashes on her stream since switching to the Streamelements streaming app. Is this something that happens at times? are there things i can say to possibly test and or change a setting that will make this easier?

So, i guess since switching to stream elements, her phone is overheating quickly. Her phone is a Huawei p20. And the version of Streamelements is whatever the most recent version is, she just downloaded it two days ago or so.

Do you charge the device during the stream?

Dropping the resolution lower, lowering the FPS and avoiding fast charging should help with the heat management

Fast charging creates way more heat

so switching to a slower charging method might help

Most phones can disable fast charging

there are multiple stages, do not remember what that phone can do, but some can pump up to 65W, even 100W are planned

those things get toasty while charging, streaming at the same time will cause overheating

Yeah, i will have to see if she can change it. The thing is, she has been streaming and charging while using Twitch's mobile streaming app, though. SO i really hope this works. I really don't want to have to use twitch to try to manage her overlays. It looks painful compared to what i've seen with SE

Suddenly the Streamelements app closed on Samsung Galaxy A51. I have the last Android 11-version and keep every apps updated. This has happend before, that the app suddenly close and stop the stream. I have to start the stream again. Sometimes it only be one vod, but in this case it being two vods. I have had this problem for a long time, especially after Android 11 came. What is the problem? Seems like the problem is more the app than the phone

Did you reinstall the app just in case? Delete cache and data - that also helps

Hey all! I’m thinking of making the change to SE from SL and have one hang up: I do IRL streams from an iPhone 11 and want to be able to have my SE alerts showing up on stream when I do so. My current options are stream with the twitch app and have no overlay/alerts, or stream with the SL app and have Streamlabs alerts. If I move to SE, is there any way to have my alerts/overlays in SE show up currently (since I know there’s no iOS app yet/estimated release date for it)?

The text size also changes. But font does not change. also, the scrolling doesn't seem to work either.

Check the overlay in the browser. If that works in the browser, but not on stream - clear cache and data for the app after the stream

The streamer just upgraded phones to prevent overheating while using SE, we are hoping to get them a streaming laptop through donations, so, hopefully then, this will be much easier since they won't be on a phone to stream.

I was hoping the phone upgrade was causing the font change issue, but i guess not.

or i mean, the old phone was causing font issues.

Previewing on phone is different from what it shows on stream/editor. As long as you have it properly set in the overlay (along without renaming the overlay) it should work.

Often we do recommend to reinstall the app and delete the saved data and cache etc. from the app before you reinstall. That fixes most of the issues.

Hi, I am trying to add a simple weather overlay where I get an api link in my streamelements overlay.
But when I add a custom widget it comes prefilled with css js fields and data, full of alerts, hosts, subs, etc.
When I remove everything to just have the html with the api https link, it shows nothing.
Surprisingly I only find OBS solutions, but since I use it on mobile I need to get it to work in streamelements itself. Can somebody hint me how to get this to work?

so there is accuweather which gives you the whole html syntax and there is for example the yaranaika 'Simple weather Overlay' where you only get the api link.

That is not possible, since you cannot add links (websites) to overlays. You'd have to code something custom with plain HTML, CSS and JS so you can use the custom widget.

I just find the pure weather api sources. Well you're asking for something very specific. There're probably not a lot of people that have a weather widget in their overlay. The best thing you could do is to either ask in #dev-chat if someone has an idea on how to get something like this, or hire a developer via Fiverr for example.

Yes, you would need a cloud or a local server that you stream to. The app itself uses a single overlay and has no transitions, but i can stream to RTMP.

That is most likely them streaming their video stream to a custom RTMP server where the video is then forwarded to their OBS

or they are using a IRL backpack streaming kit that has options to change scenes, including having custom overlays.

That can have a few sources - bad internet connection (you get compressed audio), bad bluetooth connection.

I don't have screencaps but usually I will be streaming at 720p 30fps 2k bitrate but it will randomly loose connection and get stuck at like 28 bitrate and I have to force stop before opening again to get it to zero so I can start again at first I thought it was my wifi but after some speed tests and an upgrade it is now consistent but the glitch still happens. My next theory was something ran in the background or the phone was overclocked but even tho disabling play store so it wouldn't pend updates and putting all other non essential apps in deep sleep helped a little the issue would still happen occasionally. After playing with the bitrate settings a bit thinking it didn't have enough or something I noticed some improvement as 3k bitrate for a 2hr stream and 2k bitrate for longer streams reduced the issue but I still have to force stop before I even open the app. Even with all these changes the glitch happened this morning mid stream it doesn't seem to happen in a consistent dead zone or get tired at a certain time.

I'm now starting to wonder if its a use issue as in it can only stream for a certain amount of time before its too much for it I stream 2 times a day everyday once in the morning once in the evening for 2hrs with afternoon streams on Tuesday Friday and Sunday starting at noon and going until sometimes 4pm I will stream tonight and try to provide screencaps if it happens

It does, the first time you connect your Twitch account to it, it will generate a PURPLE STATIC mobile overlay on your StreamElements dashboard. Anything you modify in there will be displayed while you're livestreaming.

Do not rename the overlay.

You also cannot SEE the alerts in your phone (don't worry, your viewers will) but you'll be able to hear them as well as read chat and peruse events.

If you need to add browser sources other than our overlay to the mobile stream -i would recommend to run a custom RTMP locally and stream to it and then grab the feed with OBS to stream to the platform.

The mobile app is a IRL streaming app. Basically it uses your camera on your phone and streams that to Twitch directly

it can't be used an as external camera application

If you want those, you need an OBS server. This is just an overlay for your live cam.

usually its normal to have like 5 to 10 second delay, if not a bit more then that while streaming from a mobile device.

The delay is based on your ISP, overall connection to the servers and general connection.

Hi, just started using the mobile app to stream IRL to twitch, and noticed it consistently removes the category I stream to, leaving me streaming to no category. Here's a few pics:

For info, I set the title, category, and tags on my pc before heading outside to stream on my phone. Once on my phone I confirmed the title and category (as seen in first pic) and went live. Streamelements bot then sent the streaming <no game> message, and when I was done with my stream I saw back on PC in the twitch dashboard that I was indeed streaming to no category, which I confirmed twice in the last 2 pics.

The category I'm trying to stream to is "Travel & Outdoors"

Overall I'm very satisfied with the app and what it does, and in fact this is the only issue I've encountered.

Thank you for providing a hint on the mobile overlay in the pinned messages. If possible, I'd love to be able to set up an image in the overlay that is behind the video. So for example in portrait view, on Twitch you have black bars left/right of the view, so it would be nice if it were possible to within the overlay have some sort of image to replace the black bars, that then goes away when swapping to landscape view.

Not sure how hard this would be to achieve, but if it were possible would be absolutely amazing so please consider adding this feature 🙏

Hi. Currently this is not possible in an automated way. However, your moderators can edit that overlay if you give them the editor access to StreamElements here:

So they will be able to edit the overlay and make the image visible or invisible. Would be the only way to do it.

Of course you can do that on the go yourself with a 2nd phone, but that's not easy 😄

Hi, where would be the best place to report a bug inside the app?

When I turn my phone to landscape mode, there is a black bar between the image and the control panel on the right. Also, if I am too close to it, the circle animation will loop infinitely inside the black bar.
My phone has also been getting noticeably hotter when using the app recently.
I am using a phone that has a 21:9 screen aspect ratio.

In my humble opinion, having to do it on a website is a net benefit because you can fine tune overlays instead of trying to use your thumbs to get it pixel perfect. That's how it is done on the SE app, I don't anticipate that ever changing. Just make sure you don't rename the PURPLE STATIC overlay @normal talon and you'll be good to go.

That is correct @vague drum Purple Static overlay is for IRL streaming. You can duplicate assets, widgets, etc from other overlays to the purple static overlay just do not rename it at all.

You might have to log out of the app, clear the app/cache data. The overlay might've desync with the app. Unfortunately, it would require restarting the stream if you're straight through to Twitch.

Either way, it sounds like there is a glitch with the sync. You can clear thenqpp and cache data in the app and login again and it should fix it.

Above issue fixed ^ mostly, recommended steps next time you're offline:

1. create a BACKUP overlay on the website
2. Go into your mobile overlay
3. Choose every widget you want to keep and highlight it, click the double box shown in the picture, third from the left
4. Duplicate your widgets to the BACKUP overlay

Delete your current mobile overlay:

Clear the app/cache data in the app again like you just did and login to the app again

You should now see a NEW mobile overlay, do not rename this in any way. Duplicate your widgets from the BACKUP overlay to this new MOBILE overlay.

Sometimes it works if you rename it, sometimes mostly it'll act odd. It's best to just keep it as it generates so there's no confusion.

I recently found out this revokes their follow as well, which is an issue for people who pride themselves in their follow streak. Have Streamlabs (on android) blocked Streamelements overlays? Or is it something other than a "custom URL" I should be using? I keep getting a "this URL has been blocked for security and/or TOS violations" message when trying to paste a URL to a Streamelements overlay there :S .. sorry I'm new to mobile so might be doing it very wrong (but I know the same overlay URL works fine in OBS studio on PC) :S

yup, you won't be able to add our overlays to their app, you can either use our android app or a supported app like prism live

You should have an overlay there called PURPLE STATIC.

Edit that one, it will appear on your phone stream.

You can't create random overlays for mobile, you have to use the one assigned to it.

Log into the app on your phone.

Once you do your first login, it will generate an overlay.

Once it generates that overlay, do not rename it, edit that one and then you're there.

Do note you will not see the alerts on your phone at all. You will only hear them.

But when you go live, the alerts you set up will play to the viewers of your stream.

Guys can u please help me. I wanted to switch from another mobile app to streamelements for various reasons. The problem is than on my mobile on audince view my camera is black. On the other 2 views camera is working fine. I've tried everything, reinstallins, deleting cache and memory, deleting overlay. There is no problem on Streamlabs but i would like to switch to Streamelements. My phone is Poco x3 pro. Thanks
